Leviticus 3

And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.

And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.

And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the Lord; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

And Aaron’s sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord.

And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering unto the Lord be of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.

If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the Lord.

And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle the blood thereof round about upon the altar.

And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the Lord; the fat thereof, and the whole rump, it shall he take off hard by the backbone; and the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

10 And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

11 And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto the Lord.

12 And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before the Lord.

13 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about.

14 And he shall offer thereof his offering, even an offering made by fire unto the Lord; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

15 And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

16 And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the Lord‘s.

17 It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.

  1. 1 And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.

    blemish:
a small mark or flaw which spoils the appearance of something.

    Romans‬ ‭3:23‬
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

    A.L.M.A.S.

  2. Verse 1 CEV “When you offer sacrifices to ask my blessing,[a] you may offer either a bull or a cow, but there must be nothing wrong with the animal.” The footnotes read: [a].3.1 sacrifices to ask my blessing: These sacrifices have traditionally been called “peace offerings” or “offerings of well-being.” A main purpose was to ask for the Lord’s blessing, and so in the CEV they are sometimes called “sacrifices to ask the Lord’s blessing.” This verse reminded me about bringing everything to my altar. I must bring everything to Him if I want it to be blessed. You also have to bring your best and unblemished.

  3. 17 It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.

Directions are here given concerning the peace-offering, if it was a sheep or a goat. Turtle-doves or young pigeons, which might be brought for whole burnt offerings, were not allowed for peace-offerings, because they have no fat considerable enough to be burnt upon the altar; and they would be next to nothing if they were to be divided according to the law of the peace-offerings.

That which was burnt upon the altar is called the food of the offering, Leviticus 3:11,16. It fed the holy fire; it was acceptable to God as our food is to us; and since in the tabernacle God did, as it were, keep house among them, by the offerings on the altar he kept a good table, God gave the precise instructions in what to bring forth to the table and what was acceptable and unacceptable. He told the Israelites this was the perpetual statute that they were to observe throughout their generation and those generations to come.

We have to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness to make sure the altar is in working order so that we can set it according to God’s pleasure in our offerings.

  4. 1 And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.

God is asking for something that has not been tampered with. Like with our offering he wants us to give what he has told us to without any alterations.

  5. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    OUR BEST OFFERINGS

1 And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.

Often we are guilty of token offerings unto the LORD. We often bring or give GOD what is convenient to us rather than OUR BEST OFFERING. We learn here in the book of Leviricus that there were several offerings unto the LORD.

Whatever the offering may be unto the LORD, we are wise to always offer OUR BEST OFFERINGS. Whether PEACE offering, SIN offering, MEAT offering, PRAISE offering, or any other offering of TIME, TALENT or TREASURE may it be with purpose, sacrifice and commitment.

  6. 1 And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.
2 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about

All the way back to Genesis you find that God calls for perfection and consequences for sin. He told Adam not to eat of the fruit lest he died. The consequences force and will always be death. In lieu of imperfection the call for perfection. While the animals could not make atonement for sin the lack of blemish was to replace theirs in death. This shows the true mercy of God. We deserved death but instead received Grace and atonement even to this day. It is something that we should never forget or take for granted.

  7. 16. And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the Lord’s.

All the fat is the Lord’s, meaning the best part is the Lord’s.
We owe Him our very best!

    Strong’s Definition:
    From an unused root meaning to be fat;
    whether literally or figuratively;
    hence the richest or choice part;
    {best} fat ({-ness}) X {finest} {grease} marrow.

    Brown-Driver-Briggs’ Definition:
    1. fat
    fat (of humans)
    fat (of beasts)
    choicest, best part, abundance

  8. and the priest will burn them on the altar. It is a special gift of food, a pleasing aroma to the Lord . All the fat belongs to the Lord .
    Leviticus 3:16 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/lev.3.16.NLT

The fat is the richest part of the animal. Of course this is left for our King.
An offering of Peace is to appease God. It is a gift for Him to enjoy. ND as it is burnt it sends up a sweet savor to Him.

  9. and Aaron’s sons will burn them on top of the burnt offering on the wood burning on the altar. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Any special gifts we offer to the Lord should be our very best. “We pour out our best for You!”

  10. Leviticus 3:1 [Amp] If a man’s offering is a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offers an animal from the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.
[ Proverbs 22: 9 ] He who has a bountiful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor. We must give God our best, He loves a cheerful giver. I rather give than be cursed. To God be the be Glory.

  11. 6 If his peace offering to the Lord is an animal from the flock, male or female, he shall offer the animal without blemish. 7 If he offers a lamb as his offering, then he shall present it before the Lord, 8 and he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and kill it before the Tent of Meeting

The guilt of the individual was transferred to the animal before it was killed, and then it was offered to the Lord. I am truly thankful that this manner of sacrifice for our sins is no longer required of us. Our sins were transferred to Jesus when He became the Lamb slain from the foundation of this world.

  12. The Blood will never lose its power.
For it reaches to the highest mountain
It flows to the lowest valley
It’s the Blood that gives me strength from day to day
It will never lose its power.

  13. Offering Sweet as honey white as snow

For every action there’s a reaction, I feel like sacrifice to God must be done with a good clean pure heart (wash in the inwards)
Evan unforgotten unforgiveness smells bitter before God (forgive yourself) too (because we are love)
Nobody is perfect, everyone falls short of HIS GLORY that’s why we push till we feel
Peace through washing our hearts with Praise and Prayer…
Jesus is OUR FATHER HE IS A KING
sweet savour: all the fat is the Lord’s .
then it will have a sweet saver unto Him

    Leviticus 3:7 KJV
[7] If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the Lord .

    Leviticus 3:16 KJV
[16] And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the Lord’s .

Leviticus 3:17 It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.

    1 Kings 14:3 KJV
[3] And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.

    1 Samuel 14:6-10 KJV
[6] And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few. [7] And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart. [8] Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover ourselves unto them. [9] If they say thus unto us, Tarry until we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them. [10] But if they say thus, Come up unto us; then we will go up: for the Lord hath delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign unto us.

    1 Samuel 14:23-25 KJV
[23] So the Lord saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over unto Beth-aven. [24] And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food. [25] And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey upon the ground.

  14. iLove the Kingdom
WOW Y’all, just found the boomshakalaka!

In the opening statement of this chapter, the Lord is requiring an animal without blemish. So I said to myself, “self…what does the word ‘blemish’ mean?” So, I opened up the ole touch Bible and looked that there word up and I didn’t get much further than that before the revelation came.

The word blemish of course means the obvious but it also means the following as well—-
    whole, sound, healthful
    complete, entire (of time)
sound, wholesome, unimpaired, innocent, having integrity
what is complete or entirely in accord with truth and fact (neuter adj/subst)

Did y’all catch that??? In order to give GOD an acceptable sacrifice we must give it in integrity which translates in to HONESTY. You folks telling lil white lies are a “blemished” sacrifice. Why you think ananias and Ananias and Sapphira were killed? They brought a blemished sacrifice. Boom y’all, y’all better start telling the truth

  15. We have learned about three distinct offerings thus far. The purpose of the burnt offering was for general atonement of sin. The purpose of the grain offering was to recognize His goodness and wisdom. Today we learn about the peace offering. The purpose of the Peace Offering was to bless a meal between two or more people and share that meal together in fellowship of peace. The first two are mandatory of sorts. You don’t want to carry the weight of sin and be found guilty; thus, burnt offerings. We should want to offer praise and worship for God providing for us; thus, the grain offering.

The peace offering can be considered voluntary. Today, we bless our food in reverence of God providing the food or the means to purchase the food. We also may bless the food for our bodies nourishment and maybe even offer a blessing on those who prepared the food. The worshipers were not allowed to eat any of the burnt or grain offerings. The peace offering is meant to be shared.

  16. 11 And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto the Lord.

What is your sacrifice? For some a sacrifice would of your time, for others money, and for some eating. No matter what you could be sacrificing to God, you should be. He deserves our best of everything. He is God Almighty and He is our Savior Jesus.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  17. 7 If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the Lord.

I thank God that Jesus was my sacrificial Lamb that gave Himself for my salvation!!! Hallelujah!!’ Thank you Jesus.

  18. Leviticus 3

1 And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.

2 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.

3 And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the Lord; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

4 And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

  19. 16 The priest shall burn them on the altar as a food offering, a pleasing aroma. All the fat is the Lord’s.

SEND UP JUDAH!!! Send up praises unto the LORD!!! What aroma are we sending up unto the Lord!! Is it a pleasing aroma or a displeasing aroma?!? I’ve learned that before we go with our needs unto the Lord we must LIFT HIM UP BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE!! Send that sweet aroma unto Him by praising and worshiping Him because if it wasn’t for Him we wouldn’t be alive today breathing, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, a home, a car, etc. Let’s send up JUDAH!!

  20. So in Leviticus Chapter 3 verses 1-4 it’s talking about sacrificing the Peace offerings and offerings for the tabernacle of the congregation and Priests sprinkling blood all over the congregation and peace offerings made by fire upon Jesus and Kidneys by the flanks

  21. Leviticus 3:1 & 6
    1) AND if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD.
    6) And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering unto the LORD be of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.

In Leviticus 1, when they offered a burnt offering of the herd or flock, it was a male without blemish.
In Leviticus 3, when they offered a peace offering of the heard or flock, it could be male or female, but it still had to be without blemish.

    “Without Blemish”
In Ephesians 5:25, we read that “Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it.”
In Ephesians 5:27, we read that “He wants to present it to himself as a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

Just as these burnt and peace offerings of the herd or flock had to be without blemish (a small mark or flaw which spoils the appearance of something), JESUS wants his church to be Holy and without blemish, so that He can present it to Himself a Glorious (strikingly beautiful) church.

  22. 5 And Aaron’s sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord.

Lord, I pray that the fire on my altar never burns out and that it is a sweet savour unto Him.

  23. 13 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about.
14 And he shall offer thereof his offering, even an offering made by fire unto the Lord; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

I like as this chapter shows us a sacrifice done by a church. A whole congregation watching. We as a church have done sacrifices together as well. A week or even a forty days of fasting and prayer in order to kill the flesh and put to rest the flesh that pulling at us everyday. Then as we light our fires and help to burn the light inside of us brighter with every victory. Day and night and Night and day, let the fire on my altar never go out, make me a house of prayer.

16 And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the Lord‘s.
17 It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.

“a perpetual statute” is a continual, ongoing statement and known order for the generations in everyone of our houses. Sacrifice is so very important and it must be known and the knowledge of its importance passed onto our children. Without knowing the importance, we loose the drive and desire to push forward and use sacrifice to better every situation that comes our way.

  24. Leviticus 3: 1-17
    Peace Offerings
The Peace Offering or zebach is also known as “Fellowship Offering.” It is literally a “sacrifice of happiness.”

It consisted of an ox, a lamb or a goat, male or female. The priest sprinkled the blood on the altar while the liver, kidneys and fat were burned on the altar. God claimed the richest part of the animal. The priest was breast and right thigh. The worshiper had to eat all the leftovers from the food. This is the only sacrifice in which worshipers participate by eating a portion of the sacrifice

The Peace Offering was a symbol of the peace between the believer and Jehovah because of the atonement. Therefore it was necessary to celebrate it. He never offered to obtain peace, but it was celebrated as existing. It is an image of the communion between God and the sinner who believes on the basis of blood sacrifices. This offering portrays the blessing and power through which salvation occurs due to the death of Christ on the cross. This is a thank you offering.

  25. LEVITICO 3 :1-5

  26. 6 And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering unto the Lord be of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.

7 If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the Lord.

There is a way to bring your offering and a procedure into how they had to offer it before the Lord. They were given instructions and what and how it should be done. When it comes down to it, it will always be a heart matter. A willing heart. A grateful heart, a thankful heart will not mind bringing or doing what it means to bring it before the Lord.

  27. 1 And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.

The people was to bring a offering that is without blemish. thank God the true lamb that is prefect came and brought life. God came down freely and willing to died for our sins so we can life forever with him.

  28. Thank you Jesus , I just need and want you in my life . Jesus the way , the truth , the life . Days when the flesh is weak he is strong , days of confusion Jesus is my clarity and focus, days of despair Jesus is my Hope, days that I need to overcome Jesus is my fighter, it’s hard in a world that is runned by evil … Alot of blinded minds and souls . Alot of deception, alot of hate , alot of agony . It’s easy just to say ” pain, perseverance, change has to happen for the better” but the flesh and enemy will throw you otherwise . I offer God my best time my best Focus my best heart .. my Best action that pleases him . He knows me very well so does the enemy but owell . … I love the Lord and he loves me

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
    Luke 9:24 NLT

  29. ““If you present an animal from the flock as a peace offering to the Lord, it may be a male or a female, but it must have no defects.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are blessed to have a merciful God that choose to die on the cross for us! To take our sins and die for each of us. Each of our defects, scars and mess.

    • It has been from the beginning and it will always be the blood.

From the first design of sacrifice to the cross it was the blood.

I know it was the blood
I know if was the blood
I know it was the blood
      That saved me!

  30. ““If you present an animal from the herd as a peace offering to the Lord, it may be a male or a female, but it must have no defects. Lay your hand on the animal’s head, and slaughter it at the entrance of the Tabernacle. Then Aaron’s sons, the priests, will splatter its blood against all sides of the altar. The priest must present part of this peace offering as a special gift to the Lord. This includes all the fat around the internal organs, the two kidneys and the fat around them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver. These must be removed with the kidneys, and Aaron’s sons will burn them on top of the burnt offering on the wood burning on the altar. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭3:1-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I Want to give God my very best in all that I do.

  31. Leviticus 3:1 And if this oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.

The sacrifice of peace offering had as its essential feature the concept of “fellowship.”

Psalm 116:12 What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup with salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

We must offer God the sacrifice of praise continually.

  32. “If you present an animal from the herd as a peace offering to the Lord , it may be a male or a female, but it must have no defects. Lay your hand on the animal’s head, and slaughter it at the entrance of the Tabernacle. Then Aaron’s sons, the priests, will splatter its blood against all sides of the altar.
    Leviticus 3:1‭-‬2 NLT

The power of the Blood still has the ability to cleanse and serve as an atonement for our faults.

  33. 13 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about.

That sure is a lot of blood that they are slinging on the alter.

    – Bella

Bella having seen me and even help me some with the butchering of a few animals at the farm, has a better understanding of what The Word is saying..
When you butcher your own meat, these verses take a whole different context .

  34. 7 If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the Lord.

When we make an offering before the Lord, we must do it with the right heart. We cannot allow the things of the world to distract us from God’s plan. It is high time for us to do God’s will. Let’s break forth so God can breakthrough.

  35. 14 And he shall offer thereof his offering, even an offering made by fire unto the Lord; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

We have to take notice of the detail and info taken in reference to the offerings. This lets us know we cannot just offer to God anything or the last of what we have. We are to offer the best and pay attention to our offering.

  36. “” ‘Then the priests who are in Aaron’s family line must burn it on the altar. They must burn it on top of the burnt offering on the burning wood. ” ‘It is an offering that is made with fire. It gives a smell that is pleasant to the Lord.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Oh what a sweet aroma it must be when we offer a sacrifice of prayer and worship. Lord, I pray that our worship would always be made with fire and gives a smell that is pleasant to you Lord.

    Let the sweet aroma
    of worship fill this room.
Let it rise before the Savior
    like a fragrant sweet perfume.
Let our songs of praise be pleasing
    and our sacrifice consume.
    As a sweet aroma
    of worship fills this room

  37. 1 And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.

Its interesting the difference between a burnt offering and a peace offering. Burnt offerings used the whole animal, it was burnt on the alter and the vapor and smoke was sent up from the alter up to God. Peace offerings were only made from the fat and the fattiest parts of the animal. These were made to make up for what the sinner lacked. As we lay our wholeselves on the alter and start to turn our wholeselves over to a life with Christ we start to take on the fat of the lord. Joy, compation, love, humility, and peace start to fill in the areas where we lacked these attributes.

  38. 10And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.
11And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto the Lord.
16And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the Lord’s.

All through out these sacrifices it talks about the fat being offered specifically unto the Lord. The fat is considered the best part. also we see in the bible anointing being compared to fat. When we read the definition in the strongs it also says abundance and we all know what abundance means (a lot of) so what the Lord is wanting us to be is fat with his word. The word of God is the bread we must partake of and I believe that’s what the Lord finds pleasing in his eyes is us being fat from his word. This will destroy the yoke

  39. 17“You must never eat any fat or blood. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation, wherever you live.”

Don’t drink the blood. The blood represents, the suffering of Jesus who died for our sins. It covers our sins, and we are free from bondage.

  40. Aaron’s sons shall offer it up in smoke on the altar [placing it] on the burnt offering which is on the wood that is on the fire. It is an offering by fire, a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord .
    LEVITICUS 3:5 AMP

I pray our offerring is a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord. In our praise, in our giving, in our worship, in all that we do I pray it is pleaaing and acceptable unto God because He was the ultimate sacrifice.
