Leviticus 11

And the Lord spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.

Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.

Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;

15 Every raven after his kind;

16 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,

18 And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,

19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

20 All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.

21 Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;

22 Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.

23 But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.

24 And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.

25 And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

26 The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.

27 And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.

28 And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.

29 These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,

30 And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.

31 These are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even.

32 And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed.

33 And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.

34 Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.

35 And every thing whereupon any part of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean and shall be unclean unto you.

36 Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.

37 And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean.

38 But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.

39 And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.

40 And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

41 And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.

42 Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.

43 Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.

44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

46 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:

47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

  1. This day
    2 Corinthians 5:7
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

    Leviticus 11:36-38 KJV
[36] Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.
37] And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean.
38] But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.

2 Corinthians 5:13-20 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause. For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:10-10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

  2. 44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

    “Consecrate me, dedicate me
In every way Lord, in all I do
Make me Holy, for you are Holy
Let me always, walk with You ”

(Walk with You by Nancy Grandquist)

  3. 44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

The law that God gave unto the children of Israel was to be upheld to the absolute. He made a statement to them, for they were to be holy because God is holy. They were the chosen vessels and he wanted them to remain pure. Any thing that would defile themselves was not allowed.

Thank God we are no longer under the Law, but under Grace! I am so thankful that God gave us a choice to do what he commands us. We should be thankful that he allows us to serve him and worship him, even though we are not perfect. He gives us Mercy and Grace a fresh every morning.

I am reminded of this song this morning:

Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
T’was blind but now I see
T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear
    And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
    The hour I first believed
Through many dangers, toils and snares
    We have already come.
T’was grace that brought us safe thus far
And grace will lead us home,
And grace will lead us home
Amazing grace, Howe Sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
T’was blind but now I see
Was blind, but now I see.

Grace is afresh for each of us this morning.

  4. Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

we must learn to continually trust God whenever he is trying to keep us from certain things. God God will never tell us not to do something without a purpose. He is either testing you or he is seeing something down the road that will affect us and he’s trying to prevent it. there are many instances in my own personal life where I felt God forbidding me from doing something and whether I did or did not do it I later found out why. I have been learning to trust God on a whole new level the closer I get to him and understanding why he does not want me to do certain things and it’s to remain clean and pure. Unless he is testing us, if he is telling us to stay away from something particular it is because it is unclean and in pure and God is trying to keep us closer to him

Gods food selection was very specific for the children. They had to stay clean and Holy before God, the same way we must be clean, when we know the right thing to do and dont, we are unclean. God never changes!

    First the Kingdom
Even when we dont understand…God is good

  6. 47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

So thankful that things changed with Jesus Christ and gentiles were drafted to His beautiful lineage!

Acts 10: 10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

    37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

    40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost

  7. For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

We must prepare ourselves and sanctify our vessels for the work God has for us. Western day is here anand i know that I have to all that I can to be ready to bring those to God. Thank you Jesus for preparing my heart and mind. Open my eyes to see those that need you. Lead me to be sanctified for them; I love you Jesus.

No Swine in Mine Y’all…Where’s the Beef

Lev 11:7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

Thank the Lord for the New Testament that allows the Gentile Believers the opportunity to continue their Gentile tradition of eating bacon. Whew, there aint much better then waking up to the smell of fresh bacon frying in the old frying pan, biscuits in the oven, and momma cooking in the kitchen…Oh wait…this is the 21st century and I’m sitting in Crackle Barrel and I’m eating turkey sausage…Well its the thought that counts right.

Point is we are Gentiles and the New Testament allows the Gentiles to eat what we want (except we cannot eat blood). Thank You Jesus for the sacrifice.

  9. In this chapter, God spoke to Moses and Aaron, and instructed them on what to speak to the People of Israel. God gave them specific instructions on what was clean and unclean, even down to what you were to detest or find disgusting. The following are footnotes found in the CEV version:

11.3 chews the cud: Some animals that eat grass and leaves have more than one stomach and chew their food a second time after it has been partly digested in the first stomach. This partly digested food is called the “cud.”
11.4-8 unclean: In the Old Testament “clean” and “unclean” refer to whatever makes a person, animal, or object acceptable or unacceptable to God. For example, a person became unclean by eating certain foods, touching certain objects, and having certain kinds of diseases or bodily discharges.

Verse 45 AMP says “For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; therefore you shall be holy, for I am holy.’” We must separate ourselves from the unclean, avoid it, as we must be holy. So stay away from ANYthing that is going to defile you, or is going to make you unclean and unacceptable to God.

  10. And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

  11. 47. To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

The enemy, the destroyer, the deceiver, satan by name, has convinced so many people that there is no difference between the clean and unclean, the holy and unholy, right and wrong, but God never changes and He has declared that there is a line and you’re either on one side or the other.

I’m reminded of the old song that asks, “Who is on the Lord’s side among you?”

  12. For I, the Lord , am the one who brought you up from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. Therefore, you must be holy because I am holy.
    Leviticus 11:45 NLT

Relationship! When God calls us to higher standards of living it is to set us apart. We are a royal priesthood that is called to be peculiar, unique, set apart. Ambassadors for His Kingdom, but also so precious to Him because we have pushed away the things that may defile us and restrict the flow of intimacy with Our God. I thank You, God for Your Holiness, Goodness and Mercy.

  13. Leviticus 11:43-44
    43) Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.
    44) For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Because God is Holy, we are to sanctify (set apart and consecrate) ourselves from the unclean things of this world that would make us unclean and defile (make us impure, dirty, polluted) us, so that we can be Holy before God.

He is coming back for a church that is without wrinkle, spot, or blemish.

  14. Leviticus 11
Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them. 44 I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy

    11 Corinthians 6:17
“Therefore come out from their midst and be separate, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean, and I will receive you.”

Separation from things of this world is so important.
God gave a mandate to the Israelites in their appetites in what to eat and not eat. Evidently some of the items listed were appealing and tasteful . Yet He declares to them not to even touch them.
We as the children of God must be separate from the things of this world. If your appetite has been appeased by the works of the flesh addictions habits that are unclean you must stay away from the very atmosphere of what is now unclean .
God was instructed them to be holy. We ask why would He use restrictions about food. Because it appeals to the senses. Even to the ear people say oh I love chocolate or I can’t go without a cup of coffee….
Could it be the lesson again was for discipline obedience submission.
Touch not the unclean I have to go a bit further here …flirting around with the world a little touch here a little touch there we think it’s ok …bur before you know it your hands have become unclean then how sad you don’t recognize you’ve been touching the unclean and your hands now blend in with it. We must guard our hearts minds emotions . All for a reason God’s Reason …..
    1Peter 1:16
    New Living Translation
For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

  15. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    DISTINCTION OF DELICACY

47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

We learned in chapter 10 how particular JESUS is about the FIRE in our WORSHIP. Today we learn of how particular HE is about our consumption and associations. We are commanded to “make a difference” between the clean and the unclean.

It is my responsibility to draw the line where GOD has drawn the line. A line of DISTINCTION or SEPARATION. We cannot be common with everything else in the world. GOD expects us to be HOLY, even unto the foods we eat and the things we touch.

We are all wise to discern the DISTINCTION OF DELICACY in our lives through the WORD of GOD. We are also wise to discern the purpose of our separation from this world with our lifestyle distinctions of participation, adornment and hair.

  16. 46 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:

47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

I took a Microbiology course in College and the textbook credited the Hebrew people with being the 1st peoples to have laws in place that protected them from many diseases. God knew how to keep his people well even before our science caught up. With that said, when we obey God’s word, there are reasons why we should obey whether we fully understand or not. Its ALWAYS in order to obey the Word of God!

  17. 45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Because He first loved us, He saved us; now as we have been made whole and new, we are to remain holy and sanctified unto Him! I want to be a reflection of Him and His holiness!

  18. 44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Who is your God? Who is it that you serve? To seek first the Kingdom of God, you must first know who you are seeking after. When we look for the things of God in our lives, we cant but help see what amazing things he has done for us. I work for the Kingdom the King of Kings by showing others what His love and mercy are. I seek after Him to know Him and to do His will for my life. I want to know Him in a way that is true to His nature. I want to be Holy as He is Holy.

Seek ye First the Kingdom of God and His Holiness.

  19. 2: Speak unto the children of Israel saying: these are the beasts which he shall eat among all the beast that are among.

. Speak unto the children of Israel saying…
    Immediately thought about brother Morgan….
    Praying for you brother Morgan🙏.

  20. 44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

A call for holiness even regarding the food that they were given to eat and their drink. What we put on the inside of us is manifested on the outside. They were to not eat certain animals because they were not “clean” and they would pollute their systems with “unclean” animals.

How much more what we put into our minds, which takes root in our hearts should be “clean.” We are called to purify our hearts and minds, sanctifying ourselves to be of use for His Kingdom.

  21. What are you eating??

Notice that the unclean and the clean were separated by what they ate. It is what we believe and take in to our eyes and ears that make us who we are. I always heard that the eyes are a window to your soul. So is your ears. You become what you take in, you are what you eat. So I take I. The bread of life. The word of God. His spirit and his people. I take in the Kingdom of God. I become the Kingdom of God.

  22. It is important that we do not take part in those things that are unclean. The things that are unclean will bring you and take you away where God wants you to be. Our heavenly father has provided us with instructions on how to get to heaven. If we follow his plan, we shall have everlasting life.

  23. 44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

  24. 45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
46 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:

Sometimes we forget our past and where God has brought us from. Where and how we used to live. God brought us from something and brought us to a better now. That’s why we are here and going to church.

More Importantly, we forget “. . . to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.” Because he is holy, we are automatically holy! Just because he is, we are. We must step out in boldness and proclaim that holiness. Prove that holiness. Be that holiness.

47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

We must keep ourselves separate from the unclean. There has to be a definite difference as the scripture says here. Without the difference that holiness is void. Because in following him our boldness in our holiness given. But when we decide to not keep ourselves separate we loose that definite difference that interferes with our holiness.

  25. 45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

46 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:

47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

To make a difference. We are not called to be mingled and blend with the world. Rather, are to be difference makers, the light and the salt of the world. We are called to be separate, to live separate from the standards of the world, to be holy like God is holy.

  26. 45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

God doesn’t want us to be holy to just be holy, but because He Is holy, sin can not stand by Him. His wrath is steady settled for human.

  27. 46“These are the instructions regarding land animals, birds, marine creatures, and animals that scurry along the ground. 47By these instructions you will know what is unclean and clean, and which animals may be eaten and which may not be eaten.”

I believe we all would have broken the law by eating something we weren’t suppose. Thank God, Jesus died (blood), for us, and we no longer have to follow the all the laws from old testament. But still, eating some of those creatures, no thank you.

  28. Leviticus 11: 1-3

    This chapter may be strange.
We have arrived in this book at a radical fork. The Theme changes from the priests to the people; of the offerings presented to God, to the food of the people; from worship to God to daily life in this world. In this way there has been a change from the sacred to the secular, without any change of rhythm or level. The idea is not given that the Theme discussed here is different from the above.
Today we make a false distinction between the sacred and the secular. We think that what happens in the church is sacred. In reality, all our activity can be done for the glory of God. So all differentiation between the sacred and the secular is inappropriate. In this passage, God has shifted the emphasis from what we consider sacred to what we would call secular, without making any distinction about it.
This chapter is so peculiar because God provided a diet, a menu, for the Israelites. They had to eat certain foods, and they should refrain from eating those that God had left out of the diet. And so the question arises: Could the God of this immense universe be interested in what His creatures ate? Could He who controls all creation prepare a menu for the human being? This chapter has the answer. God was and is interested in these details of the life of His people. No detail is too insignificant to escape His interest and concern.
