Leviticus 12

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.

And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.

And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:

Who shall offer it before the Lord, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.

And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

  1. Imagine if We had to shout unclean, unclean, unclean until we are clean again . Before JESUS died on the Cross that’s what we had to do . But now the blood of JESUS can heal and save anyone . Thank you Jesus for your blood. The blood still works

  2. Western Day
    Today

[4] And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

    Acts 15:9
And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

    1 Peter 1:1-25 KJV
[1] Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, [2] Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. [3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4] To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, [5] Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. [6] Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: [7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: [8] Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: [9] Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. [10] Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: [11] Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. [12] Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. [13] Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; [14] As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: [15] But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; [16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. [17] And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: [18] Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; [19] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: [20] Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, [21] Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. [22] Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: [23] Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. [24] For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: [25] But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

  3. Thank You for such love that we may come before You Lord no matter what season of life we are in.
It was tour precious blood that brought us that bought us so we might live freely in serving You .

    I Peter 1:18 & 19
18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

  4. Thank you Jesus for taking our sins upon his shoulders and being the ultimate sacrifice so that we have access to His tabernacle at all times!

  5. Leviticus 12:2-4 & 8
    2) Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
    3) And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
    4) And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

    8) And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtle, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

First, I never really thought about it before, but Mary (the mother of JESUS) kept this law as well.
    St. Luke 2:6-7 & 21-24
    6) And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
    7) And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

    21) And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his named was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
    22) And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
    23) (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)
    24) And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

Second, Lev. 12:8 says, “And if she be not able to bring a lamb….”
Mary may have only brought a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons as a sacrifice, BUT she had JESUS, the LAMB of GOD, which would become the greatest sacrifice and take away the sin of the world.

    Thank You JESUS!!

  6. 1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.

3 And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

4 And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

5 But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.

this ceremonial uncleanness which the law laid women in child-bed under was to signify the pollution of sin which we are all conceived and born in. For, if the root be impure, so is the branch, Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? If sin had not entered, nothing but purity and honour had attended all the productions of that great blessing, Be fruitful and multiply; but now that the nature of man is degenerated the propagation of that nature is laid under these marks of disgrace, because of the sin and corruption that are propagated with it, and in remembrance of the curse upon the woman that was first in the transgression. That in sorrow (to which it is here further added in shame) she should bring forth children. And the exclusion of the woman for so many days from the sanctuary, and all participation of the holy things, signified that our original corruption (that sinning sin which we brought into the world with us) would have excluded us for ever from the enjoyment of God and his favours if he had not graciously provided for our purifying.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

We have to purify ourselves from our sins to bring a clean offering unto the Lord. Separation from the things of this world to come before God is a necessity to be blessed by the unadulterated glory of God. The grace and mercy that is provided to us without any doubt will be shown through God receiving our offering. Seek first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness to honor God.

  7. 5 But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.

Wow, so if you had a girl you spent 14 days to begin with then threescore =70 + 6 days. That’s a total of 90 days of separation and since you are considered unclean you can’t touch anything that can contaminate others in the family because they would have to go through a purification process. So for 90 days all you could do was take care of your baby’s needs. I think I would be praying for a girl!!! Thank you Jesus for my baby girl wouldn’t have it any other way!!! Your blessing of 26 years my cup runneth over!!!!

  8. 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.

All throughout the Bible God has used multiple different methods but has kept the same principle and theme from the beginning to the end. It’s all about purification and the remission of sin. Since the moment that Adam and Eve partook of the fruit, sin has been in this world and God has been resolved to purify us in every way. Our goal in life should be similar. Bringing people to Christ is remitting the sin withing each individual and helping them draw closer to God through guidance and love that they may be purified

  9. Humble Beginnings for a Mighty Savior

“If a woman cannot afford to bring a lamb, she must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons. One will be for the burnt offering and the other for the purification offering. The priest will sacrifice them to purify her, and she will be ceremonially clean.”
    Leviticus 12:8 NLT

Then it was time for their purification offering, as required by the law of Moses after the birth of a child; so his parents took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. The law of the Lord says, “If a woman’s first child is a boy, he must be dedicated to the Lord .” So they offered the sacrifice required in the law of the Lord—“either a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”
    Luke 2:22‭-‬24 NLT

They could not afford a lamb so they offered two turtle doves or pigeons.
No where does is say that the house Jesus was born out of was wealthy. A humble Savior. Able to bring down the magnitude of His Majesty into fleshly form and work as a Carpenters son. So humble. To see with impoverished eyes the need for His Deity to break forth and work miracles. My Blessed Savior. I’m so thankful for the way You made Yourself so accessible to us. To be able to reach out and touch You. I’m so thankful to feel Your Presence in my life. I love You. My God. My King.

Side note. In the song 12 days of Christmas we now know why they sing about two turtle doves. That was the sacrifice offered when Jesus was born.

  10. Verse 6 CEV “When the mother has completed her time of cleansing, she must come to the front of the sacred tent and bring to the priest a year-old lamb as a sacrifice to please me[a] and a dove or a pigeon as a sacrifice for sin.” Women had to offer not only a sacrifice to please the Lord; but, also a sacrifice for sin. There were specifications as to where and when for the purification/cleansing. We can offer this illustration for today (Western Day)….specifications: “Here” and “Now”. Let there be a birth of harvest today as people repent and are baptized in Jesus name. Let us not limit God; but, meet and exceed with HIGH EXPECTANCY.

  11. 1 The LORD said to Moses, 2“Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. If a woman becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son, she will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her menstrual period. 3 On the eighth day the boy’s foreskin must be circumcised.

This is order for all things, even after childbirth. A male baby circumcised is parents telling everyone, my (we) baby is accepting Jesus. Its a symbol of accepting Jesus as Savior. As we mature, we must circumcise our hearts, as a symbol of accepting Jesus. Thats cutting our past, and moving forward in God’s way.

  12. Leviticus 12 – The purification of women after childbirth
    A. Ceremonial impurity after childbirth.
    1. ( Leviticus 12: 1-4 ) When a male child is born.

Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to the children of Israel and say to them: When a woman conceives and gives birth to a man, she will be unclean for seven days; according to the days of your period you will be unclean. And on the eighth day the child will be circumcised. But she will remain thirty-three days purifying herself of her blood; no holy thing will touch, nor come to the sanctuary, until the days of its purification are fulfilled.

to. When the woman conceives and gives birth to a man, she will be unclean for seven days : The child then circumcised on the eighth day, and the impurity ceremony had an additional duration of 33 days, giving a total of 40 days of impurity ceremony after Birth of a male child.

    b. No holy thing will touch : The time of the impurity ceremony should not be considered as a negative attitude towards the birth or procreation of God. God gives the commandment of procreation, in this the man has the command to bear fruit and multiply ( Genesis 1:28 ), the children are considered as a gift from God ( Psalm 127: 3 ) and the woman with many children is considered blessed ( Psalm128 : 3 ).

    i. The key to understanding this ceremony is to understand the idea of original sin. With how wonderful a new baby is, God wanted this to be remembered: that with each birth another sinner was brought to this world and the woman here was symbolically responsible for bringing a new sinner into the world.

  13. What a great plan for mother and child, being separated and devoting time to the needs of the newborn. Today mom’s have to rush back to work and take care of other family needs. They had extended family to help with that so the new mom rest, recover and bond with baby. God’s ways are always best.

  14. 8. If a woman cannot afford to bring a lamb, she must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons. One will be for the burnt offering and the other for the purification offering. The priest will sacrifice them to purify her, and she will be ceremonially clean. NLT

It wasn’t about the amount that was brought to sacrifice, it was about what each person could bring, and about obedience. If you can’t bring the same amount someone else does, ok; but bring what is a sacrifice to you.

    Mark 12:
    42. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

    43. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

    44. For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. KJV

  15. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    MERCY

8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

This verse caught my attention to give hope and courage to those that feel like they cannot afford to or dont have enough to fulfill the requirements of the Law of GOD.

YES and ABSOLUTELY what GOD expects is what GOD expects. The reality is that GOD knows what we have access to, because it all belongs to HIM. GOD knows if we are seeking HIM First or not. He knows if we have been poor stewards and lack discipline or if we are stingy and selfish. GODs is always and forever GODs law. Therefore we cannot change it and are required to bring what HE requires.

    BUT…

If we dont have a lamb and GOD knows if we do or not. Bring SOMETHING. I prefer to being and receive SOMETHING than to bring NOTHING and receive NOTHING. I have been taught that SOMETHING is better than NOTHING. I consider this the MERCY of GOD. I should have been judged by death for all the sins I committed before Christ, but MERCY said NO.

Consider this principal next time you feel like you can’t give anything or do anything. Realize that GREATER is HE that is in YOU than HE that is in the world. GOD is JUST and MERCIFUL.

Notice the TITHE was not substituted, but the atonement offering was. Bring the LORDS TITHE to HIM on the First Day of the Week. SUNDAY. Bring your offering as you pledged or as GOD speaks. We always begin our offering at the half shekel or 5% of our Gross pay.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  16. And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest: Who shall offer it before the Lord , and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female. And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
    Leviticus 12:6‭-‬8 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/lev.12.6-8.KJV

To be purified of the Lord: what an amazing thing that is. God wants us to be cleansed of our sin. That is why we are baptized in His name nadia filled with His precious Spirit. Thank you Jesus for being the truth and the way.

  17. Leviticus 12

6 And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:

7 Who shall offer it before the Lord, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.

  18. So in Leviticus Chapter 12 verses 1-7 what it’s telling me about is that the children of Israel being unclean for 7 days and being separated from her infirmity then it’s telling me is that on the 8th day they continue in the blood of the purifying 3 she would not able to come into the sanctuary and she would not able to touch no hallowed thing then it’s telling me is that her days were fulfilled and she was able to bring a lamb for a burnt offering and she gave a sin offering unto the door of the congregation of the tabernacle

  19. Leviticus 12: 8 [ Amp] If she is unable to bring a lamb [ For lack of means] then she shall bring two turtledove or young pigeons, one for a burnt offering, the other for sin offering; the priest shall make atonement for her, and she be clean.
Luke 2: 22] And when the time for their purification and the Baby’s dedication] came according to the Law of Moses, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord. God’s ways are always the best, Thank you Jesus.

  20. 12:6

And when the days of her purification are fulfilled for a son or for a daughter she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a bunt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering unto the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation
    ——
    EVERYTHING MATTERS !!!!!
LETS NOT TAKE LIGHTLY WHAT GOD COMMANDS OF US.
    Let us Be honest

  21. Was Purification after childbirth not about moral uncleanness but ceremonial uncleanness ?

Lord, thank you that We are no longer under law. Thank you that I have received adoption as your child and that you have sent your Spirit into my heart. Thank you that I will spend all eternity with you. Help me to take the long view and to enjoy a lifetime of your favour.

  22. iLove the Kingdom
3 And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

Let’s all circumcise our hearts for this Holy Western Day!

Clean Hearts and Holy Ghost FUN

  23. 8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

There is always a remedy for sin. All we have to do is be willing to let it go. It does no good to repent of it, and then enter back into it again. Ask forgiveness, turn away and move on. It’s that easy.

  24. The key to understanding this ceremony is to understand the idea of original sin. As wonderful as a new baby is, God wanted it to be remembered that with every birth another sinner was brought into the world, and the woman was here symbolically responsible for bringing a new sinner into the world.

  25. They brought a offering to the house of the Lord.
I thank God the price was paid for my sins on the cross so I don’t have to bring a lamb to be killed but offer my soul, heart to him. I give him what I have.

  26. “And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭12:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/1/lev.12.8.kjv

See there was always something to sacrifice.
For the ones that say they nothing to give how about sacrificing your time. The Lord will see it worthy for the Kingdom. Everyone has different things to offer.

  27. But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.
    Leviticus 12:5‭-‬7 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/lev.12.5-7.KJV

God wants to make sure that her womanly problems are compleat before her cleansing. God didnt play , and he dont play now! Thank you Jesus for a great day

  28. 8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

Often when reading of these sacrifices, I have had thoughts about who decides if someone could bring a sheep, bull calf, or a bird? Each of them are so different in size, cost and investment.
As I say here this evening wrestling it over, I hear Jesus say, “Do you really think I would not know if it was a sacrifice or not? Just think about it, if it doesn’t hurt, is it really a sacrifice?”

  29. Thank you Jesus for a wonderful and blessed Western Day!!!

As spiritual babes we give ourselve little bits at a time.. Each service offers some sort of relief as we sacrafice another part of ourselves to Jesus. Going through our own purification process, bringing in our own personal sacrafices to lay upon the alter in atonement for our sins.

  30. 8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

Interesting to not that her issue of blood made her unclean but it is the blood Jesus that makes us clean.

  31. Leviticus 12:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.

    Luke 2:22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

  32. 8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

Sometimes it’s not always specifically what you sacrifice, but simply the act of sacrifice and your willingness to surrender a sacrifice. Thank You Lord for the opportunity to be washed free from our sins!

  33. “And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭12:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When a lady has a baby they have to bring a sin offering. We were all born into sin and shaped in iniquity.

  34. 8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

The woman had to bring an offering for having a child. It’s usually the head or priest of the house brings an offering. We all have to give account for our decisions and opportunities we may or may have not taken…
