Leviticus 21

And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.

And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctify you, am holy.

And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

10 And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;

11 Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord.

13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

15 Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the Lorddo sanctify him.

16 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,

19 Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,

20 Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;

21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the Lord do sanctify them.

24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

  1. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

    Deuteronomy 7:6
For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

  2. 16 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Thank you Lord for continually speaking to us through the altar and the man of God .

    A.L.M.A.S.

  3. Thank you Jesus , we must persist press on with God. Strive to be holy , righteous like him . Put the flesh under subjection .. allow God to work in you

  4. 17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,

19 Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,

    20 Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;

21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

This very direct to Moses as the Lord spoke unto Moses. He was very clear on who could be a part of the priesthood and who could not. I am thankful that the law of the Old Testament is no longer the way to the throne of God. But by the grace of God in the New Testament, we are allowed to come as we are unto God and he will cleanse us from our blemishes and we are made whole.

The scripture states that many are called but few are chosen. We all come different walks of life and we all have something that has tarnished our past but thank Gid his blood removes all the sin stains and washes us white as snow. Those that are filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in his name, we are a new creature made whole and we are able to be used by God. When we seek first the kingdom we have power over our sin and the enemy. Let God make you whole so that you can be a part of something great in the kingdom

  5. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

Everyday is our duty to spread the word of God, and show people how wonderful he is.

Lev 21 gives rules for the Levitical priests. The priests that serve in the tabernacle must be in good health and physical condition. Handicaps or illness of almost any kind exclude them from both altar service and curtain service.
The reason for this exclusion is because the tabernacle service is symbolic of God’s perfection. The entire Levitical system was an object lesson carried out for a thousand years pointing toward Christ. The sacrificial animal must be perfect because Jesus is without sin and he is our lamb. The priest must be whole because he intercedes before God, symbolic of Christ who is our true mediator. The Israelite must be without defect because he is symbolic of the Church, who has been perfected into the likeness of Christ- perfect as He is.

If you are a dwarf, or hunchback, or eunuch, or have bleeding lesions, or anything else, then it no longer matters. Acts 8 tells about Phillip sharing the gospel with an eunuch, a bed-keeper of Eunice queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch believes, gets baptized, and becomes a Christian brother. Paul says that all believers are baptized into one body with one spirit.

“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So that the Ethiopian eunuch is equal in every regard any other believer. This is all because of Jesus, Hebrews 8 and 9 speak of Christ mediating a better covenant through his own blood, so that everyone who believes has full and equal access to God forever.

Today we have access to come into the temple (church) regardless of our conditions, all because it has been fulfilled in Jesus our mediator.
Sunday the preacher ask if we are ready to receive all of the prodigals sons and daughters and I began to think of all the things that sins had done to them. They might‘ve change or have a condition as handicap or illnesses because of sin in the spiritual world speaking. No matter What the situation they find themselves they will be able to come to the king of kings and Lord of Lords with out shame and enter His gates and come to His presence with out fear. I pray that we as the body of Christ welcome them with the love of Christ and show them kindness and rejoice with them.

  7. Leviticus 21: 8 [ Amp] You shall consecrate him therefore, for he offers the bread of your God; he shall be holy to you, For I Lord Who sanctifies you are holy. We all have flesh that we have to put under subjection and strive to be holy. Because my God is holy. We all need him everyday of our lives.Without him we don’t have nothing! Thank God for saving me.

  8. 6. They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

    Exodus 20:7
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

  9. They must be set apart as holy to their God and must never bring shame on the name of God. They must be holy, for they are the ones who present the special gifts to the Lord, gifts of food for their God.
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭21:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Although this specifically addresses priests, the principle still applies to us. God not only wants us to be holy, but we are not to defile the temple of God in which He seeks to dwell.

  10. 14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

Hosea 1:2 The beginning of the word of the Lord by Hosea. And the Lord said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the Lord.
3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

Could you imagine, first, God says they can only marry pure virgins, and then to make an example God makes the Prophet marry a harlot to use it as an example of what they have done. Running around loving other gods. Because the children of Israel were adoring other gods, God shows them their corruption marrying the prophet to a prostitute and not allowing him to divorce her even when she still acting like a harlot. I wonder how did the prophet felt. He was obedient to God but was his heart battling? Did he hurt like God did for Israel?
Hosea 1:7 But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the Lord their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.
Praise Saves Us!!!!! It is only through Praise that Gods heart can heal after all we have done to Him. Thankful for the Blood of Jesus Christ that can even cleanse the life of a harlot.
It seems that God tries to put some symbolism into Hosea’s life.

The lord can be considered as the husband of Israel, and the love of idols was like a prostitute.

His people acted wrongly just like a prostitute. When people decide that certain other sensations are more important than God it hurts Him. Thank God for Praise!!!!

  11. 4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.
5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

The Bible tells us that we are all a royal priesthood. As we draw closer to God he requires more of us as apart of holiness. While some people may dim these instructions as harsh or to strict, it is the acknowledgement that Christ is our king of glory and sees things we do not see. He’s able to anoint and to Dean things as holy as he sees fit and thus he is in charge of what we should and should not be able to do. What it all boils down to is how much we trust God whenever he instructs us and our daily walk

  12. “If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by becoming a prostitute, she also defiles her father’s holiness, and she must be burned to death.
    Leviticus 21:9 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/lev.21.9.NLT

What’s interesting is that when we compromise our values it starts to destroy our self worth. We have that internal treasure/ an image of who we are. God shows His love of us and when we allow sin into that picture it can eat away at us unless we can stand and with the help of our Father, remove that sin from our lives. Thank You, my King for keeping us close to You, cherishing us, and keeping us as the Apple of Your Eye❤️❤️💜💜🍎🍏👁️👑👑👑🦁🦁

  13. Be pure in spirit. Not because separates our selves from the world but for God demands it from us. It is so rewarding when we notice that all worldly things are apart from us. And we live in the joy of the Lord
They must be set apart as holy to their God and must never bring shame on the name of God. They must be holy, for they are the ones who present the special gifts to the Lord, gifts of food for their God.
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭21:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  14. Leviticus 21

    6. They shall be holy to their God and cnot profane the name of their God. For they offer the Lord’s food offerings, dthe bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy

The call of God upon a life…….many are called but few are chosen.

When accepting the call of God there are requirements that God will call you to. It does not make one person different from another . In God’s eyes we are all the same. Yet whatever He calls you to must be done with all your heart . The desire to serve God has to go deeper than what anyone ever sees. The priests had ceremonial duties . There must have been some perfect men back then . Thank God for His cleansing power or today we may never had had the leadership with these perfected expectations.
God calls each of us whether a man or a woman to come before Him setting aside the works of the flesh.
We must press towards the high calling of Jesus Christ He has called are we willing to answer?

    Romans 12
1And so, dear brothers and sisters,a I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.b 2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

3Because of the privilege and authorityc God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.d 4Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

6In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

9Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10Love each other with genuine affection,e and take delight in honoring each other. 11Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.f 12Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

14Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

    “Equal Opportunity Employer”
In the US, most businesses with 15 employees or more are legally required to meet the regulations enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC). The origin of its common use goes back to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which made equal opportunity employment a federal law. The legislation made it illegal for companies to discriminate against employees or potential employees based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

Right here in the Word, we see that God Himself is in direct violation of the United States of America’s laws concerning employment…Not so fast y’all… turns out that there are a few exceptions to the federal rules under which certain organizations are not required to follow EEOC guidelines. For example, religious organizations are exempt because hiring people from other religions could be at odds with their mission.

So BOOM! our God is exempt from being an Equal Opportunity Employer!

Of course I write this with “pun intended” but the fact of the matter is that sometimes life ain’t fair and that’s ok. God is the ultimate judge and His ways are higher than our ways. Can the clay tell the potter “why you make me this way?” Just be happy to be used where God needs you most.

  16. “Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctify you, am holy.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭21:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/1/lev.21.8.kjv

He shall be holy because the Lord is holy.

We’re to be like Christ, we can’t be exactly like him but we can strive to be like him. We have to remember the fruits of the Spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/1/gal.5.22-23.kjv

Practice these fruits to be like Christ.

  17. Matthew 1:16 KJV And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

[6] They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
    [10] And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;
[12] Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord .
13] And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

💛Exodus 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.

    Matthew 1:18-25 KJV
[18] Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. [19] Then Joseph her husband, being a just man , and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. [20] But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. [21] And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. [22] Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, [23] Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. [24] Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: [25] And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

  18. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

This isn’t just for priests, anyone with a call of God on their life, also has a call to live a life of separation.

After all, how could we ever change the world if we were just like it?

  19. Leviticus 21

1 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

2 But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.

3 And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

  20. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    GODS EXPECTATION FOR LEADERS

17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

As we read through all of the requirements from GOD for HIS Leaders as HE instructed Moses. It appears that it would have been common for people to become offended at the expectations that GOD gave the people through man.

Notice how often we read, “And the Lord said unto Moses”. It is very frequent that we read this passage. Meaning that it will be very easy for the people to blame Moses the man of GOD for his words of detailed expectations and requirements to serve in the Holy things of GOD.

GOD has not changed nor lowered HIS expectations for Spiritual Leadership. However, man has created some of our own lower expectations for Spiritual Leadership.

For this purpose we have “covenants” at The POFW. To define expectations for Spiritual Leadership. I pray that we would all consider it serious inquiry to be engaged in Kingdom service and respect and honor the words of the “covenants” agreed to at The POFW.

  21. 21:12 Neither shall he go out of the Sanctuary of his God.
For the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him.
    ——-
… the crown of the anointing oil…
This is serious! It shudder be serious!
Oh God how wonderful you are!!!🙌. When I think of his goodness🎼🎼🎼
If it hadn’t been for Lord….
    How marvelous you are!!!!
    The anointing, oh God.

  22. 12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord.

I fear for those who have left truth, those who once wore the anointing of God with pride now profane what they used to stand for and believe less than the truth. It is important that we not look back to the world or pick up the things of the world and deem them holy when once we called them unholy.

Although the enemy may offer an imitation of anointing you can always tell in your spirit when the true anointing of God is present.

  23. God has standard for the priest to maintain. The same can be said of us today. We are a royal priest and a holy nation. We must be able to present ourself undefiled and without blemish. Our garments must be without spot nor wrinkle.

“That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  24. “I am God who makes him holy”

Too often we don’t strive to be holy because we consider it an impossible goal. I continue to fail at being holy, what the use in continuing to fail. I cannot do it. God is not leading us to an unattainable level of perfection. Our lack of perfection should lead us to strive to meet God’s goal for us. Even the most perfect person is always very far from God’s holy standards.

God has one purpose for mankind—holiness. His only goal is to produce saints. God is not some eternal blessing-machine for us to use, and He did not come to save us out of pity—He came to save us because He created us to be holy.

  25. “No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭21:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Not only did the sacrifices have to be holy with no spots, but also the priests. No spot, no blemish. They couldn’t give sacrifices while they weren’t right. Today we can offer God sacrifice when we have all kinds of things wrong with us spiritually, emotionally, and physically. He will hear you and heal you.

  26. 21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

In these times if the people had a blemish such as an illness they would not be able to offer the offering including the children of Aaron. This reminds me of the stewardess instructions when she tells us to put our breathing masks on first. The same is for us even spiritually, we are less effective in serving others if we are with blemish ourselves. God has a good point here, the difference between then and now is that we have the opportunity to repent and be refilled.

  27. 8 Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctify you, am holy.

We must always remember to keep our spirits right and our hearts cleansed because it’s through Christ that we are saved and with that we are reflection of him, and as Christians we should always want other to see the father whenever they look at us because it is our mission to lead them to Christ.

  28. This chapter reiterates how important holiness is and how we need to separate ourselves from anything or anyone who threatens that. We are called to be holy as He is holy. 1 Peter 1:15-17 CEV says “Always live as God’s holy people should, because God is the one who chose you, and he is holy. That’s why the Scriptures say, “I am the holy God, and you must be holy too.” You say that God is your Father, but God doesn’t have favorites! He judges all people by what they do. So you must honor God while you live as strangers here on earth.” We must be alert and ready to ward off any evil and/or sin that comes around, because it does matter what you do.

  29. Leviticus 21:18-20 & 23
    18) For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superflous,
    19) Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
    20) Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken:

    23) Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.

WOW! Can you imagine if we still lived under the Law of the Old Testament, how many of us would be excluded (denied access or barred from) from being able to come into the presence of God or go to the altar?
    BUT
Thank You JESUS! For when YOU died on the cross and shed YOUR Blood for us, the vail of the temple was rent from top to bottom, and now we have access to Your Throne Room. We can come into His presence, and we can go to an altar in prayer.

Makes me wanna Shout, “HALLELUJAH! THANK YOU JESUS!!”

  30. LEVITICO 21:22

  31. 16 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

We must let Him speak to us daily and let others speak into our lives. There are things that the Lords lets them see not so they can gossip or make us look bad but to edify each other. The Lord has all given us gifts so we can edify each other not to harm each other but to edify. As we know more and more about the gospel we have to teach and help those that are barely coming into the gospel. I still remember the words that my in law taught me when I came into church. We have to make sure that we always help those new babies coming into the church. Just as we help and protect our children from danger we must protect our spiritual babies from danger. Lord help me love those babies how you love them!!!

  32. 16 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  33. 6 They must be set apart as holy to their God and must never bring shame on the name of God. They must be holy, for they are the ones who present the special gifts to the LORD, gifts of food for their God.

Priests had to be perfect just about. We, men of God, should strive to be perfect too. But we know that we are not. Men, lets live a holy life, and give the appearance of holiness. Others see your attitude and actions whether your holy or not.

  34. Holy Priests (21:1-22:16)
Chapters 21 and 22 open with the Lord now giving instructions to the priests and not the people of Israel. In verses 1-6 of chapter 21 God instructs the priests to not make themselves unclean for the dead among the people. Remember that a person became unclean by touching a dead body. Touching a dead body was necessary when a family member died and you had to prepare the body for burial (like we see Jesus’ disciples doing when his body was taken down from the cross). As we studied earlier in the book, a person could become unclean even by not doing sinful things. We saw that just living life and being human made one defiled. So notice the serious restriction given to the priests. A priest could only touch the dead body of his closest relatives. The priest could not shave his head or beard as an act of mourning for those who died either, since these were pagan practices. Verse 7 reveals that the priests could not marry a divorced woman, a defiled woman, or a prostitute because he was to be holy to the Lord. The point being made is that the priesthood was not a job but a way of life. The priests did not just perform services before God. They were living as priests in all aspects of life, even away from the tabernacle worship. The life of a priest was not something you turned on and turned off. Being a priest meant holiness in all circumstances. Notice in verse 8 that God is making his priests holy by giving these instructions. As we read these directions we should consider how Jesus is our high priest (Hebrews 2:17) and that we are priests under his priesthood (1 Peter 2:4-10; Revelation 1:6; Isaiah 61:6). The point is not that these priesthood rules apply to us, for these laws are for the Aaronic priesthood and we are under Christ’s priesthood. Rather, we are learning about holiness is for all ways of life. We are priests before God all of the time, not just on Sunday. Being a priest is not something you turn on and off but live all the time.

To further emphasize this picture, the high priest could not marry a woman who had been defiled sexually. Now consider that Jesus is our high priest and the New Testament pictures that we are bride being prepared to be married to Jesus.

  35. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

We must be separated from the world. I want to always live an holy life before you lord.

  36. 7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

8 Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctify you, am holy.

9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

  37. You shall consecrate him, therefore, for he offers the food of your God; he shall be holy to you; for I the Lord , who sanctifies you, am holy.
    LEVITICUS 21:8 AMP

We are all children of God, however, those He has called as ministers, preachers, pastors, and bishops are held at a different standard.

I thank God for providing POFW men and women of God who obey His word and serve as examples of how we should carry ourselves as we walk with Christ.

  38. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy

We are to live a holy and acceptable life for Jesus. When we are called by Jesus to do something we are to do it with all our might. When we are called by God we lose friends and family but there comes a time we have to separate ourselves from the world to do what we are called for.

  39. 21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the Lord do sanctify them.

Even though our blemishes may not be physical they still can cripple us and keep us from entering into the presents of God.

  40. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

After reading the requirements that God had, it just shows you he wants the best of the best leading his people. That’s why I’m so greatful that Jesus called me back to POFW, Pastor Watts is the best and speaks the truth. Thank you God for speaking through Pastor Watts to get to us. Thank for using all of us to serve you and to continue making us different from the world.

  41. Purity

We get satisfaction when we clean our cars really well, it makes the trip a lot nicer. This was put in us by the Father himself in his law. God wants and expects his church to be pure and clean. There are many expectations and rulings here in this chapter about how and who could serve in the holy place. This is why our church has expectations and covenants. We get it from the word, keep his house clean.

  42. 17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

Thanks be to our Lord Jesus that has paid the price and extended his love and grace that we may approach the throne of God.

  43. Priests especially Aron was to be Kept holy for he was a high priest. He’s to be an example to everyone especially to God. There’s only one God, and that is Jesus. We are to follow his examples no matter the sacrifice.

  44. No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭21:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬
We are not worthy of you Jesus. But we are saved by your mercy.

  45. “yet because of his defect, he must not go near the curtain or approach the altar, and so desecrate my sanctuary. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.’ ””
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭21:23‬ ‭NIV

“I am the Lord, who makes them holy” is something we hear several times in this passage. What a great reminder that we are not saved by our own doing, we are not holy because we know the Bible inside and out or because we’re head of a ministry at church. However by the Grace of God he deems is holy and allows us to continually be in his presence!

  46. 24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

Now a days for someone to give a word tio the congregation , it is from a verse or verses but this is the whole chapter and actually the whole book of leviticus. It takes a whole chapter!!! It was told to them over and over again, no excuses were tio be made…….. now a days we, humanity especially in the United states of America are so blessed , maybe even spoiled to the point of forgetting where we came from…. forgetting where GOD brought us out from and forgetting what the goal was and is still today….to save the lost….. the lost that we know all too well!!! Help us JESUS!!!

  47. No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. Only he shall not go in unto the veil, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the Lord do sanctify them. And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.
    Leviticus 21:21‭-‬24 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/lev.21.21-24.KJV

God didnt want anything or anyone to serve him that wasnt without Spot or blemish, if he wants a pur sacrifice, he wants the person doing it to be that way also. God wasnt being mean or discounting them, he was being particular because he can. Alot of times people that hav ed disabilities have anger, or resentment, and God wants us to come to him without all that baggage, how much more to not have them serve in that capacity.

    First the Kingdom
    God is good…God is good

  48. 24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

Continualy we see that God speaks and then man speaks to man. It is not mans words that he speak but it is God’s Words. We must be careful to not see the men and women of God that are speaking into our lives as just another person speaking to us. Yet, they often speak to us on behalf of God. When they are speaking Gods words to us it God speaking to us.

  49. iLove the Kingdom
Lev 22:25 Neither from a stranger’s hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted for you.

Why couldn’t the Children of Israel just take the goat that was sick and nearly dead and give it as an offering to God? The same reason why we can’t just give him the left over wadded up dollar bills that are change from that $100 bill. God don’t want the left overs y’all. Let’s honor God with a pure heart and get this right. He deserves the best part not the left overs.

  50. Leviticus 21
8 Regard them as holy, because they offer up the food of your God. Consider them holy, because I the Lord am holy—I who make you holy.

Regard them as holy because they offer you the food. Sitting at Braums last night with a small group of single adults; we were discussing the Word of God. We talked about how important reading it everyday was. I made the comment about reading what the pastor prepares daily for us. He puts out the food daily the word. At the close of the day he takes a look to see are the sheep grazing being fed. Concern is is daily eating what had been prepared. You see the Bible says here to regard them the priest as holy . No we do it lift him up on a pedestal but we should respect him. God spoke to Moses so that he could lead the people into the promise land. Ever wonder why the people could not get where they were wanting to be as Moses led ? It was because of disobedience disrespect had they kept the precepts that was instructed do we think that scriptures would be repetitive. God was giving detailed very descriptive instructions about being holy. We must regard and hold to the words that are given to the one who is leading us. He is speaking as Moses spoke to the people .
    Hebrews 13:7
17 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

  51. “Ye shall offer at your own will a male without blemish, of the beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats. But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭22:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Excellence in sacrifice

The scariest thing and the most wonderful thing about God is the exact same thing, he knows your heart. God knows whether our sacrifice is pure without blemish, if it has been tainted or lacking. God knows what our true sacrifices are. This is why David would net allow the owner of the field to just give it to him, David bought the field because he knew that a true sacrifice had to cost him something and that God knowing his heart would not accept something that was free. David said I will not offer something to the Lord that has cost me nothing. This chapter outlines the detail and heart of an excellent sacrifice. It has to be on purpose and cost you your best. We sing the song “ I pour out my best” I am convicted every time we sing it to make sure it truly is my best. Let us give God a most excellent sacrifice, let it be from our heart and truly our best.

  52. I am the Lord your God, and I have chosen you alone to offer sacrifices of food to me on the altar. That’s why you must keep yourselves holy.”(‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭21:6‬ ‭CEV‬‬)

There’s no other God that can save but Jesus Christ. The Lord gave everyone that came and brought offering a decree to keep themselves holy. In our relationship with him we will offer sacrifices with our time, talent and treasure.

  53. 4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

A leader leads at all times.
We are to be very prayerful about our actions, as we will have to give an account, and the scary thing about that is that we will answer for all the dumb things we did that caused others to stumble.

  54. 17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

If you do wrong, have sinned and have a blemish. You will not be able to approach God. It doesn’t matter who your daddy is or from what lineage you cane from. Without the right spirit and attitude you will be shut down, you will not be acknowledged, you will not be approached. Keep in holy. Keep it sanctified. Keep without blemish to the best you can.
