Numbers 3

These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the Lord spake with Moses in mount Sinai.

And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.

And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.

And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

11 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;

13 Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the Lord.

14 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

15 Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them.

16 And Moses numbered them according to the word of the Lord, as he was commanded.

17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.

18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families; Libni, and Shimei.

19 And the sons of Kohath by their families; Amram, and Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

20 And the sons of Merari by their families; Mahli, and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.

21 Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites: these are the families of the Gershonites.

22 Those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them were seven thousand and five hundred.

23 The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward.

24 And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.

25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

26 And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.

27 And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.

28 In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.

29 The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward.

30 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.

31 And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.

32 And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.

33 Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.

34 And those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.

35 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward.

36 And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto,

37 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

38 But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

39 All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the Lord, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.

40 And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.

41 And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the Lord) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel.

42 And Moses numbered, as the Lord commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

43 And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and threescore and thirteen.

44 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

45 Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.

46 And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;

47 Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)

48 And thou shalt give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is to be redeemed, unto Aaron and to his sons.

49 And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites:

50 Of the firstborn of the children of Israel took he the money; a thousand three hundred and threescore and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:

51 And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the Lord, as the Lordcommanded Moses.

[13] Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the Lord .

    [46] And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;

[51] And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the Lord , as the Lord commanded Moses.

    Hebrews 11:7-14 KJV
[7] By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. [8] By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. [9] By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: [10] For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. [11] Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. [12] Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. [13] These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them , and embraced them , and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. [14] For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.

    Hebrews 11:22-27 KJV
[22] By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. [23] By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment. [24] By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; [25] Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; [26] Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. [27] By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

  2. 11And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 12And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;

Again the Lord spake unto Moses. He stated that he has taken the Levite’s from among the children of Israel to be the priesthood. They were responsible for keeping the duties of the tabernacle. They were chosen of God and they were very important

The scripture reminds us that many are called but few are chosen. We have to maintain the standard set by the word of God and not the world. We have to maintain the reverence of God in all that we do. I find that many in society is getting away from the word of God and church is more like a social event at a coffee shop. Up until the sound of the trumpet, we have to keep the sanctuary of God holy and revered because God will not come before his people if it’s not. We have to seek first the kingdom and his righteousness to allow us to be a vessel for God to dwell.

It is the commandment that we make ourselves holy because he is holy. We have to maintain a prepared heart for him to dwell in.

  3. 42 And Moses numbered, as the Lord commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

Besides every number, there is a name, Born in the church of the most high God.

    A.L.M.A.S,

  4. As God spoke to Moses, every detail was met and every person and/or clan had its duties and purpose to fulfill. We too, have a purpose or duty to fulfill in God’s plan. We must be obedient to whatever the Lord has called us to do, as every part is important and every detail has its reasoning. As we lead people to Christ, we must be willing to follow and listen as God speaks.

Proverbs 21:1-3 MSG “Good leadership is a channel of water controlled by God; he directs it to whatever ends he chooses. We justify our actions by appearances; God examines our motives. Clean living before God and justice with our neighbors mean far more to God than religious performance.” We must watch our motives and make sure we are following Christ and not our flesh.

  5. Numbers3:9 [Amp] And you shall give the Levites
[ as servants and helpers] to Aaron and his sons; they are, wholly given to him from among the Israelites. I humble myself before your presence Lord. I want to be a better servant and helper for God . You can use me Lord. For Glory of Lord is my strong tower. Be bless in Jesus name.

  6. 25. And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
    26. And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.

    31. And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.

    36. And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto,
    37. And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

When God calls you into His Kingdom, He already has a place and a plan for you; don’t ignore what He has called you to do.

  7. 46 And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;

God has always had a plan of redemption and assignment. We are all called as priests and kings before him, and despite any of our shortcomings God has set pathways to redeem us. Regardless of how many mistakes we make or what debts we create got it takes our situations and covers us. All throughout the law of Moses you see God’s law being written for the children of Israel as well as instructions for what they are supposed to do should they break one of those laws. It shows us that God already knows that we will mess up and created a way to make atonement for it.

  8. Numbers 2:34 And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, everyone after their families, according to the house of their fathers.

It’s best to do all the Lord commands our Pastor.

  9. The LORD is calling all into His Kingdom! To serve in His Kingdom is a privilege. Everything must be done
decently and in order. To serve is a commitment unto the Lord. There is 66 books in the bible not many want to serve and live by it. But as for me and my house we will serve the LORD. Here you find unity and purpose. Our purpose is to impact our city, our nation, and our world. Praying for bro. and sis. Watts❤❤❤❤

  10. 45 Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.

I am a Levite!!! I am not neither a male nor a first born; but I am a Levite!!! I serve my church and all that are there. I am the first in the truth of my family. I need to make sure they all hear and know the truth according to the word of God. One God, One Faith, One Baptism!!! I am a Levite for I belong to the Lord!!!! Thank You Jesus for giving me Birth again into your Lineage!!!

  11. 1 These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the Lord spake with Moses in mount Sinai.

Everyone counts!!! Doesn’t matter the background!!! JESUS loves us all!!! Thank you DADDY for loving me unconditionally, for being faithful and true!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  12. 6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.

7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

As priest unto Jesus today, we must be careful to be sure to care for the things of his kingdom and serve him every day.

  13. 38 But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

In placing the priesthood around the tabernacle, God placed Moses and Aaron directly in fron of the tabernacle and the people. They were seen first. Our Pastor and our leadership are seen first by all who come to POFW. As Pastor hears from God and leads, he is our example and we hear and follow. It is God’s order. We follow Pastor as he follows God.

  14. And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

  15. So in Numbers Chapter 13 verses 7-9 it’s talking about Aaron taking charge of the Tabernacle of the Congregation and of staying in charge then it’s telling me is that Aaron was going to keep all the instruments from the Children of Israel then he was going to serve of the tabernacle then Aaron was going to give the Levites to the sons

  16. Service of the Tabernacle
    Numbers 3

Levites’ principal roles in the Temple included singing Psalms during Temple services, performing construction and maintenance for the Temple, serving as guards, and performing other services. Levites also served as teachers and judges, maintaining cities of refuge in biblical times.

Even in the Levitical Priesthood there was order. God gave full instructions to Moses what each one was to be performing. Great responsibility in leading tribes of people tribes of families . God equips the pastor with the wisdom and knowledge. Each member an important part to perform. What a beautiful picture of unity .

  17. 8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

I have heard it said many times, I feel that God has called me to do this, or that. These urges can help us identify what God wants us to be but it does not grant us authority to bypass the rules. How can we identify if we are set apart as a servant in His ministry?

Consider that Jesus Christ appointed the Twelve Apostles. In turn, the apostles appointed elders to minister to the brethren. Even for specific tasks, appointment rather than election is the biblical pattern; Jesus also appointed disciples for a special ministerial task. In John 6 we read, that people can only come to Christ if the Father calls them. Those whom God calls, He requires to spiritually come out of this world. Those who God calls, He also appoints to distinct offices of service—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.

It is not our right to appoint ourselves, rather out duty to humbly pray and seek after the Lord to help us identify our calling and talk with our leadership to better understand our urges. Then, we must patiently wait for God’s time of the official appointment.

  18. iLove the King of the Kingdom
Num 3:4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

    🔥They offered “strange fire”
The word strange in the Hebrew is:
A primitive root; to turn aside (especially for lodging); hence to be a foreigner, strange, profane; specifically (active participle) to commit adultery: – (come from) another (man, place), fanner, go away, (e-) strange (-r, thing, woman).

The thing about it is, strange basically means to “turn aside” which is a form of backsliding or even spiritual adultery. In the context, I see it to mean they had a heart issue and somehow brought carnal or a pagan type of worship that polluted the sanctuary.

I see this in our society today. Young talented musicians and singers raised Apostolic being seduced and now they are worship leaders in Charismatic churches today. My friend, that is strange fire in the temple. (we now are the temple of God)

  19. 7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

It sounds like a large responsibility for Aaron and his sons to be in charge of the tabernacle and serve the people. The Levite clan is to be the priesthood of Israel as appointed by God. Of course their leadership will be challenged just like people defy God himself. What is to be kept in mind is that their service may to the people but its all for Gods glory. That means we are equally responsible because the Jewish leaders that had Jesus crucified rejected him our chief cornerstone.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

  20. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    TAKE YOUR PLACE

23 The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward.
24 And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.
25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
26 And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.

GOD has ordered and placed each of us in HIS body. GOD places people where they are best positioned to perform or accomplish their responsibilities. This principle teaches us that JESUS places us in a Ministry that we have an expected role and responsibility to protect, serve and to worship.

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

When we are placed in a position, role or place, we are there by the appointment of GOD and should approach that opportunity to serve with great reverence and respect.

  21. 4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

It is a sad day when people that have been anointed and appointed for the Work of the Kingdom die in disobedience and someone else has to take their place.

Obedience and submission are so important. People fluff it off today like it has no meaning, but to everything there is a time and season and they may enjoy the season of disobedience for a period of time, but judgement and consequences comes.

Aaron’s sons no doubt thought that they could get by with lack of obedience and offering God half hearted worship, but God knows the very intent of the hearts and our thoughts. He was fully aware of what they are doing.

God help us all to keep our heart and mind pure.

  22. 3:16 and Moses counted them according to the word of the Lord as he was commanded.
    ———
Everything counts, everything is important in the work of the Lord.
There is a order and a time for everything .

  23. 38The area in front of the Tabernacle, in the east toward the sunrise,d was reserved for the tents of Moses and of Aaron and his sons, who had the final responsibility for the sanctuary on behalf of the people of Israel. Anyone other than a priest or Levite who went too near the sanctuary was to be put to death.

There has to be order in all activities. If there is no order to follow, chaos will follow. People want order in their lives. God can provide that order, if we pray and read the Word.

  24. Numbers 3:4-10 (NLT)
    4) Nadab and Abihu died in the LORD’s presence in the wilderness of Sinai when they burned before the LORD the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded. Since they had no sons, this left only Eleazar and Ithamar to serve as priests with their father, Aaron.
    5) Then the LORD said to Moses,
    6) Call forward the tribe of Levi, and present them to Aaron the priest to serve as his assistants.
    7) They will serve Aaron and the whole community, performing their sacred duties in and around the Tabernacle.
    8) They will also maintain all the furnishings of the sacred tent, serving in the Tabernacle on behalf of all the Israelites.
    9) Assign the Levites to Aaron and his sons. They have been given from among all the people of Israel to serve as their assistants.
    10) Appoint Aaron and his sons to carry out the duties of the priesthood. But any unauthorized person who goes too near the sanctuary must be put to death.

After Nadab and Abihu died, this left only Eleazar and Ithamar to help their father, Aaron, in the priesthood. THEY NEEDED HELP. So the LORD called the Levites to help be their assistance. They were to perform their sacred duties in and around the Tabernacle (the church) and maintain all the furnishings of the Tabernacle (the church). They were there to SERVE and PROTECT the Tabernacle (the church). So that, Aaron and his sons could carry out the duties of the priesthood.

Just like Pastor and Sis. Watts, when they started POFW, it was only them and their children. THEY NEEDED HELP. So God called many of us to POFW to help assist them. Pastor and our Ministers can do the duties of the priesthood “by giving themselves continually to prayer, and to the work of the ministry” (Acts 6:4), while others of us can perform our duties in and around the church, maintain the furnishings of the church, and help SERVE and PROTECT the church.

Thank You JESUS for POFW church. Thank You for Pastor and Sis. Watts and for our Ministers and for our Leaders and for all that help SERVE and PROTECT the church.

  25. “And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/1/num.3.5-6.kjv

The people served the man of God. It’s not unusual to want to serve our pastor or the ministers that come to preach. When you serve you’re expressing your love to God because all you can do is give him praise and lift his name and serve Him. We can serve him by serving the vessels he’s using to deliver his word to his people. The church. Never speak against a man of God you’re speaking against a vessel Gods using!

  26. 5 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

We are all the body of Christ and He has ordained each of us to fill certain areas of ministry. One day we may be the big toe and other times we may be the little toe. I am so thankful that God has a purpose for all of us and has given us the liberty to grow in areas that some would never choose to serve. Our number one priority should be that we can be moldable and be a willing vessel, even when we feel at times that we are not worthy.

  27. 4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

Time was taken out of this chapter to address this issue, so I’d say it’s an important warning to heed. God requires, expects, and deserves a holy sacrifice.

  28. Nadab and Abihu, however, died before the LORD when they made an offering with unauthorized fire before him in the Desert of Sinai. They had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests during the lifetime of their father Aaron.

No one wants to offer strange fire unto the Lord. What is our prayers and praise sending unto Him. And as we can read later in the chapter you can see that they all had responsibilities. We all have a responsibility in the Kingdom. We all are called out to go and preach His gospel. What fire are you sending unto the Lord? Is it a pleasing fire or a strange fire?

  29. 4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

When Nadab and Abihu lit the offering themselves, their fire was profane and God was not in it.

They were disobedient and prepared the fire out of their own doing. That disobedience caused them to die.

God knows when your sacrifice is sincere and when it is not.

In everything you do, every sacrifice you give, make sure God is in it!

  30. I learned that Moses counted the firstborn sons of the people of Israel, just as the Lord had commanded. The number of firstborn sons who were one month old or older was 22,273. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Take the Levites as substitutes for the firstborn sons of the people of Israel. And take the livestock of the Levites as substitutes for the firstborn livestock of the people of Israel. The Levites belong to me; I am the Lord. There are 273 more firstborn sons of Israel than there are Levites. To redeem these extra firstborn sons, collect five pieces of silver for each of them (each piece weighing the same as the sanctuary shekel, which equals twenty gerahs). Give the silver to Aaron and his sons as the redemption price for the extra firstborn sons.””

  31. “The names of Aaron’s sons were Nadab (the oldest), Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. These sons of Aaron were anointed and ordained to minister as priests. But Nadab and Abihu died in the Lord’s presence in the wilderness of Sinai when they burned before the Lord the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded. Since they had no sons, this left only Eleazar and Ithamar to serve as priests with their father, Aaron.”
    ‭‭
Eleazar and Ithamar got to be priest because Nadab abiho didn’t give the right offering to god

  32. 3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.

4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

  33. CHAPTER 3

Numbers 3:1-51 . THE LEVITES’ SERVICE.

    1. These . . . are the generations of Aaron and Moses, &c.–This chapter contains an account of their families; and although that of Moses is not detailed like his brother’s, his children are included under the general designation of the Amramites ( Numbers 3:27 ), a term which comprehends all the descendants of their common father Amram. The reason why the family of Moses was so undistinguished in this record is that they were in the private ranks of the Levites, the dignity of the priesthood being conferred exclusively on the posterity of Aaron; and hence, as the sacerdotal order is the subject of this chapter, Aaron, contrary to the usual style of the sacred history, is mentioned before Moses.

  34. And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the Lord ) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel. And Moses numbered, as the Lord commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel. Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord .
    Numbers 3:41‭-‬42‭, ‬45 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/num.3.41-45.KJV

God chose the Levites as they were the only ones who were to be responsible for the Tent, God have them each a part to be responsible, we all have our position that appoints us, and that is what we will do until God moves us to somewhere else. That way everyone is accountable for their part.

    First the Kingdom

  35. 3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.

4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

5 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.

7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

  36. 12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;

The Lord is taking a people unto him to do his work. the question we must are we going to be part of the taken and to do his work?

  37. “But Nadab and Abihu died in the Lord’s presence in the wilderness of Sinai when they burned before the Lord the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded. Since they had no sons, this left only Eleazar and Ithamar to serve as priests with their father, Aaron.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭3:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Lord help me to always have an obedient heart.

  38. 49 So Moses collected the silver for redeeming the firstborn sons of Israel who exceeded the number of Levites. 50 He collected 1,365 pieces of silver[f] on behalf of these firstborn sons of Israel (each piece weighing the same as the sanctuary shekel). 51 And Moses gave the silver for the redemption to Aaron and his sons, just as the Lord had commanded. NLT

  39. 38 But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

  40. 51 And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the Lord, as the Lordcommanded Moses.

Moses did what God commanded him to do. In other words he listened to the instructions God was giving. We might not always like what God wants us to do, but we know it is needed. He has never led us astray. It is by his power that we progress in his kingdom. If we cast away those things not of God, we can do what God has called us to do.

  41. In this chapter God give Moses instructions to fulfill every duty and ensure things are taken care of. Moses give h the instruction to the people and the people are to carry it out.
The idea of order, systems, and organization has always been in place. We are not here to rewrite the wheel or do our own thing. But each of us have abilities and play a vital role in the Kingdom. Let us be willing to execute it with all our heart as unto God.

  43. Now those to camp before the tabernacle toward the east, before the Tent of Meeting, toward the sunrise, were to be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, performing the duties of the sanctuary for whatever was required of the Israelites; and the layman (non-Levite) who approached [the sanctuary] was to be put to death.
    Numbers 3:38 AMP

Respect for His house has ALWAYS been and still is important! I pray we continue to uphold this standard and I thank God for the men and women who help with the upkeep of POFW. They are GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

  44. 14 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,
15 Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them.

While the other men were to be 20 years old and up to be counted , the Levites were to be counted from as early as a month old.

Many of us are call from very early ages too, but due to the lack of reverence for Jesus, or the work of His Kingdom, we fail to teach our children how to respect Jesus and have a great hunger for His will for our lives…

Unless we care to end up as Aaron’s 2 sons did when they offered strange fire, we must strive to chase after Jesus, as we teach others to.

  45. And behold I have taken the Levites from the children of Israel instead of the first born. The Levites were the priests and God had everything in the order that He saw fit. We shouldn’t question God as He knows what is best for us. We may not always understand but know our Lord Jesus knows what we need to do.

  46. It’s all about the detail.

All my life especially growing up I was taught to pay attention to detail. This has been one of my strongest attributes in the business that I am in. But I am detailed because he first was detailed. God has a purpose for every word. The detail of his word has hidden gems in it all over the place just waiting for someone to find them. Let us search the details and see what God has for us.

  47. 4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

Their offering was not accepted. We cant just go off and do what we want.
Everything must be done in obedience and according to a standard.

  48. 49 And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites:

There is an order for everything. The bible tells us that we need to do everything decent and in order. God is the one that sets the parameters and rules. He is the creator, the manufacturer of the product, us, His creation. So he can tell us how and what is the price. Thanks be to our Lord that paid all the price for our redemption. Paid in full for all of our sins and went a little extra for all of our sickness and diseases. Jesus paid it all!

  49. God appoints people he can trust to work, serve and protect his house. The Sanctuary is sacred ground, it’s our responsibility to follow the command that God gives us no matter how little or big the job is. Just be obedient always.

  50. “These sons of Aaron were anointed and ordained to minister as priests. But Nadab and Abihu died in the Lord’s presence in the wilderness of Sinai when they burned before the Lord the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded. Since they had no sons, this left only Eleazar and Ithamar to serve as priests with their father, Aaron.”(Numbers‬ ‭3:3-4‬ ‭NLT)

  51. 4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

When viewing these passages, the prominent scripture that stands out to me is verse 4, after a further study it is certain that God was not pleased with Nadab and Abihu. The fact that as descried in this passage by God is rather chilling, “strange fire”, it is quite a strong statement. In my simple interpretation perhaps this equated to a false deed, or something fake. 1st we know that essentially the cause of this was simply because they did not follow in precise form the exact details to keep the Tabernacle.

When describing the instruction of God in this text after studying this a little closer, the instruction of God was that these men 1st and foremost guard the Tabernacle I can agree with the measure that God handled these men that perhaps they did not and were not guarding the Tabernacle accordingly as he instructed them to. 2nd it called that the complete and do the heavy work of the Tabernacle. I imagine it constituted heavy labor, perhaps working of the hands in a strenuous form.
According to these instructions God does command and expects that we follow his command.

I suppose these topic could go many ways, but I like to think about what type of sacrifice what type of fire do I offer to God? How do I guard this earthen vessel where the Holy Ghost abides? As the scripture indicated that this body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. Strange fire? I do believe that certain things can enter if not careful and cause my sacrifice to become strange fire. I suppose the pressure of life, entertainment of this world, desires of achieving goals and dreams that seemingly dominate most if our time, all these things are elements in my opinion that will hinder our sacrifice before God if not kept in balance. I do pray and ask God to help me as I journey in this walk, I am not perfect, but I’ll never quit trying. Man I will disappoint, and not doubt may label me, but it is Jesus Christ that I must please after all it was he that paid a price for my eternal salvation, it matters.

The work of my hands in regards to God, how is it being done? With what motive is it executed? With what intent do I commit to working for God, I’ve seen a lot over the years, you have those that must post every deed they commit to on social media not sure if seeking some type of reward etc, and you have those that seek the applause and recognition of man, those that only perform to maintain a certain status it is very obvious and it does cause for grief as I feel when one engages in the things of God it ought to be done with Jesus in total perspective, not in a mechanical format, not because “ you have to” but because he that Is on the throne notates all the deeds that we commit to and if the perspective is not right I wonder if this is considered as strange fire. Truth be told in this season over that past several months so much has been in question, many questions feel the mind, but as long as I keep my sacrifice right, and if I can offer a pleasing sacrifice before Jesus Christ it will be worth it all.

  52. God had specific duties for all the tribes. With everyone doing their assigned positions all was covered. With the large amount of people this was the only way to keep order and to ensure all tasks were done. As in our church there is so much to be done to keep everything running smoothly., from lawn care, to cleaning, to teaching, to preaching and more.

  53. To do the work of the tabernacle…
In some ways, being a priest was far more visible and perhaps “glamorous” than being a Levite. But the service of the Levites made the work of the priests possible and was seen by God as having equal value.
If a Levite grew jealous, and decided they wanted to do the work of a priest, it was strictly forbidden – it was an affront to God’s order.

  54. 47 Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)

An example of what the church comes together for great causes to assist. We are not supposed to sit around and just wait around for our own salvation. We have to act as though we are the church. Willing to give back to the community and do as we have been instructed to do.

  55. “These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the Lord spake with Moses in mount Sinai.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

These children were blessed of their father because the fathers listened and obeyed. The byproduct of this listen and obey relationship was obedience of the children and the honor of serving God. When we listen and obey God sees that he can trust you/me with more.

  56. 5 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

This is only one instance to this reference. Even though God had his priest, Aaron, he preferred to speak to Moses. He was one of the only that he spoke to face to face.

He had formed a special bond with God, a direct connection that was not seen before. Now a days, we feel inspired when we read scripture. We get a new revelation of a scripture we had not seen, and many times it applies to our current situation.
