Numbers 4

And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers,

From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things:

And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it:

And shall put thereon the covering of badgers’ skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof.

And upon the table of shewbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover withal: and the continual bread shall be thereon:

And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put in the staves thereof.

And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it:

10 And they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put it upon a bar.

11 And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put to the staves thereof:

12 And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put them on a bar:

13 And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon:

14 And they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof, wherewith they minister about it, even the censers, the fleshhooks, and the shovels, and the basons, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers’ skins, and put to the staves of it.

15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.

16 And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertaineth the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.

17 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying,

18 Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:

19 But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:

20 But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

21 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

22 Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the houses of their fathers, by their families;

23 From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

24 This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens:

25 And they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of the congregation, his covering, and the covering of the badgers’ skins that is above upon it, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

26 And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve.

27 At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burdens.

28 This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation: and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

29 As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the house of their fathers;

30 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.

31 And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the congregation; the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and sockets thereof,

32 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall reckon the instruments of the charge of their burden.

33 This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the tabernacle of the congregation, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

34 And Moses and Aaron and the chief of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and after the house of their fathers,

35 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation:

36 And those that were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.

37 These were they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, which Moses and Aaron did number according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

38 And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, and by the house of their fathers,

39 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,

40 Even those that were numbered of them, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, were two thousand and six hundred and thirty.

41 These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, of all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, whom Moses and Aaron did number according to the commandment of the Lord.

42 And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers,

43 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,

44 Even those that were numbered of them after their families, were three thousand and two hundred.

45 These be those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

46 All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers,

47 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation.

48 Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore,

49 According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

  1. 1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
17 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying,
21 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

49 According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

When the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron then and when the Lord speaks today, he’s not asking he is commanding us to do these words.

  2. 17And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 18Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites: 19But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden: 20But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

Here again the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron concerning those that would be responsible for the tabernacle. The Kohathites were just one group with the responsibilities of the altars and the other items in the inner court of the tabernacle. God wanted to make sure that they were sanctified and gone through the same ritual to be in the inner courts of the tabernacle just like the Levites.

The process the kohathites were to go through was a cleansing that allowed them to touch the holy things of God. It is the same way in our lives today. After we have turned from our wicked ways and sins, we come unto the altar repent, be baptized, and get filled with the Holy Ghost. Then we can come before God with a great spiritual cleaning inside and out to be able to touch the holy things and the throne of God. We have to then seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness to make ourselves holy.

God is no respect or of persons and will allow those to come before him as long as they are worthy to approach the throne and not be cut off. Search yourselves according to the word of God to be able to come before the throne of God and find what you need to make it through any circumstance or situation.

  3. 12 And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put them on a bar

Ministry is service. We are all called to some form of ministry as the word of God tells us that we are Kings and priests. Everything we do is ministry as the Bible also tells us that in everything we do, to do as unto the Lord. That is the mindset that we must have in our everyday life. We can count all we do as an opportunity to minister before the Lord and be honored to be called as such

  4. Numbers 4:49 [Amp] According to the command of the Lord through Moses, they were assigned each to his work of serving and carrying. Thus they were numbered by him, as the Lord had commanded Moses. If we all worked together and help each other there be less burden for us. If it is cleaning the church , Nursery or Sunday School helpers. Where it needed. We are a church family and it’s our responsibility to take care of it. The key word is Unity. Lord I pray today that people will step up and help us. We need the Holy Ghost! We need it the Holy Ghost! In Jesus name.

  5. 12 And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put them on a bar:

What a great privilege it must have been to serve in the tabernacle… It is still our responsibility to be keepers of the holy things of God and to share the Gospel!

  6. 2. Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers,

    3. From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the WORK in the tabernacle of the congregation.

    4. This shall be the SERVICE of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things:

For those who think ministry is all easy, fun and games, today’s chapter is a reminder that it consists of WORK and SERVING.

    1 Timothy 3:1
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good WORK.

  7. 49 According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the Lord commanded Moses.
    Numbers 4:49

According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered and had a definite purpose in His plan.
Each according to his service and according to his task had a role to play in doing the work of the tabernacle, and God made them all dependent on each other to do that work. These Levites, although they were all equally consecrated to God, had not all exactly the same work to perform. God is not the God of all uniformity. There is a wondrous unity of plan and design in all that he does, but there is also an equally marvelous variety.

Paul says the church is to work like a body many parts, looking different, doing different jobs, meeting different needs, some more visible, some less, but all essential and all with the same DNA code.

Much trouble is caused in the service of the LORD by those who desire a different calling than they have, or who are jealous of those who have a different calling, or by those who exalt one calling and abase another. Everyone has a place and a job, and all can set themselves to do it.

  8. 19 But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:

Everything in order and for everything to stay in order, we must be kingdom minded!!!

  9. Everyone should work together within the church so God’s Kingdom may go forth mightily into the world and spread the gospel.

  10. When their names were recorded, as the Lord had commanded through Moses, each man was assigned his task and told what to carry. And so the registration was completed, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
    Numbers 4:49 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/num.4.49.NLT

We need to remember our work for the Kingdom. We all have a purpose that is equally important.

  11. Each family and clan were assigned their duties in what to carry. This made me think of our church body and how each of us must be willingly carrying our load and not leaving it for the next person. In other words, doing our part. When we are not willing to do the work and trying to pass the buck to the next person, you just also passed your blessing along with it. When you willingly serve, it’s not a load at all; but, an honor and privilege that we are given the opportunity to share Jesus with someone through our ministry/testimony. Yes Lord, to your will and your way.

  12. I am reminded of a story my grandfather told me about a kite. On one particular windy day, a person noticed a kite soaring through the air. It was beautiful and soared gracefully. This person set out to find who was responsible for such a beautiful kite. “Who is responsible for flying this kite?” the man asked. “I am,” said a little boy holding with all his might to the beautiful big kite. He said, “I made this huge kite myself, with my own hands. I painted all of the colorful pictures on it, and I fly it!” “I am,” said the wind. “It is my breeze that keeps it in the air flying so big and beautiful. Unless I blow on it, it will not fly at all. I fly it!”

“Not so,” claimed the kite’s tail. “I make it sail and give it stability against the wind’s blowing gusts. Without me the kite would spin out of control and not even the boy could save it from crashing to the earth. I fly the kite!” So, who flies the kite? They all do, don’t they?

When moving the tabernacles, it takes a team. Each person and group doing their part – just like Western Day. In the day-to-day hustle and bustle of life it easy to forget that everyone flies the kite. Without the team, the leader would never be successful. Without a good leader the team would fail. Both need each other. And each person on the team need one another as well.

  13. About the most holy things:
    To serve, and for burdens:

    What’s in a name?
    What’s in a title?
    What’s in a number?
Plenty if it’s the name of the position you hold.
Plenty if it’s the name that your most be baptized in.
Romans 10:13 – For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Matthew 1:21 – And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

[4] This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things:

[9] And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it:

[15] And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it : but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.

🎯 16] And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertaineth the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is , in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.

There is power in following direction and being submitted to God everything else will flow freely through obedience and being submissive

    Isaiah 30:18-21 KJV
[18] And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. [19] For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. [20] And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: [21] And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

    Isaiah 58:11-14 KJV
[11] And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. [12] And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. [13] If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord , honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: [14] Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord ; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it .

Jeremiah 10:6 – Forasmuch as [there is] none like unto thee, O LORD; thou [art] great, and thy name [is] great in might.

John 16:26 – At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Acts 8:12 – But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Isaiah 9:6 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

1 Corinthians 6:11 – And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Mark 16:17 – And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues

  14. When their names were recorded, as the Lord had commanded through Moses, each man was assigned his task and told what to carry. And so the registration was completed, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭4:49‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God will speak through the man of God, and this is why we should obey as he speaks also. In this chapter Moses was commanded by God to assign tasks, and the people obeyed. Seems like a good example of obedience to me!

  15. Our God is INTENTIONAL!!! I won’t lie Numbers is not my favorite part of the Bible but still teaches a lot. As I was reading this chapter, I was wondering why the specific colors for specific items. Therefore, I decided to look into the meaning of each color and see if there was a connection to all of this and guess what? There is!!! I should know by know that my God is INTENTIONAL!!! Everything He does has a reason behind it. So here is what I found out for each cloth::

Blue It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.

Scarlet represents the blood of Christ and Christian also associated with courage, passion, heat, and joy.

Purple often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition.

Then I wanted to know why the Badger skin? So I look into the animal and here is what it said: The badger can defend itself against predators in a number of ways. Its first line of defense is the thick, loose fur and skin. … This allows the badger to avoid bad injuries to the neck and to be able to twist around when caught by a predator to claw at and bite the other animal.

So with God EVERYTHING HAS A SPECIFIC FUNCTION !!!
Even you and me, nothing is by chance for HE IS INTENTIONAL! Everything He is doing and will do is for our best so we put our TRUST IN HIM!!! Our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ!!!

  16. iLove the Kingdom
Num 4:3 From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

This law is the reason that the ministry of Jesus didn’t start until he turned 30. Jesus followed every law, dotted every eye and crossed every T. In fact, Jesus was so perfect, it broke the law to put him on the cross. This is what caused Jesus to take back the Kingdom. The enemy could reek havoc on mankind because man was worthy of death. Jesus changed all that. He was perfect and therefore was not worthy of death thereby reversing the curse.

  17. Numbers 4:1-4
From the giving of the law till the building of Solomon’s temple, a space of about 500 years, the Lord at no time “dwelt in any house, but walked in a tent and in a tabernacle” (2 Samuel 7:6)

The sanctuary was a moving tent, and one principal part of the business of the Levites, the most honourable function assigned to them, was the carriage of it from place to place. Moses, who regulated so exactly the order of all the tribes, both for the march and the encampment, did not omit to appoint to every division of the Levites its duty in relation to the tabernacle and its holy furniture –
what each was to carry, and in what order they were to pitch their tents.

In this chapter of detailed regulations, special interest attaches to the law laid down regarding THE LEVITES’ PERIOD OF SERVICE in carrying the tabernacle. It was from thirty years old till fifty (verses 3, 23, 30). This must be taken along with

  18. “According to the commandment of the LORD through Moses, they were numbered, each assigned to his work of serving and carrying. Thus they were numbered by him, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭4:49‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Each of these had a role to play in doing the work of tabernacle, and God made them all dependent on each other to do that work.

“For just as in one [physical] body we have many parts, and these parts do not all have the same function or special use, so we, who are many, are [nevertheless just] one body in Christ, and individually [we are] parts one of another [mutually dependent on each other].”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:4-5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Everyone has a place and a job, God has called each of us to play specific role in the Kingdom and it takes ALL of us working together to advance the Kingdom.

“Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them accordingly: if [someone has the gift of] prophecy, [let him speak a new message from God to His people] in proportion to the faith possessed; if service, in the act of serving; or he who teaches, in the act of teaching; or he who encourages, in the act of encouragement; he who gives, with generosity; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy [in caring for others], with cheerfulness.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:6-8‬ ‭AMP‬

  19. Numbers 4:3 (MSG), “Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age, all who enter the ministry to work in the Tent of Meeting.”

At POFW church, there are many opportunities for people to enter a ministry to work in the church. So, Be COUNTED!

  20. 4:49 according to the commandment of the Lord, they were numbered by the hand of Moses, everyone according to his service, and according to his burden, thus they were numbered, as the Lord commanded Moses.
    —-_
…. according g to his device and according g to his burden
    No more, no less..
    Everyone can do something.

  21. 27 At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burdens.

Their service to the Lord may have been heavy lifting and work (their burden) but it was also their service to him as well. We each can serve the Lord in our burden and service. There are many opportunities to work at the church and we serve Him as we labor. Moving and serving in the Tabernacle was broken down into smaller tasks among huge families so no job was too hard. With teamwork within each of our Ministries, that is also true today. We are all one big family of God and we can each do something to help, even picking up a piece of trash off the carpet!

  22. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    THE DANGERS OF CURIOUSITY

17 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying,
18 Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:
19 But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:
20 But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

There are few occasions in the WORD of GOD where there are specific instructions in regard to position and responsibility. Exodus 19 comes to mind:

Exodus 19:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

I am not sure where the phrase “curiosity killed the cat” came from, but it seems here that there are certain areas and workings of The Kingdom of GOD that are reserved for the people designated to do them. This is why we should consider it a “HIGH HONOR” to serve in a certain capacity, because it could be deadly for others.

    Consider:

    GNT
20 But if the Kohathites enter the Tent and see the priests preparing the sacred objects for moving,[a] they will die.”

    MSG
20 But the Kohathites themselves must not go in to look at the holy things, not even a glance at them, or they will die.”

We realize the HIGH value that GOD places on certain tasks. To most people this task or occasion would seem insignificant, but GOD considered it specific. Again confirming the command to “stay in our place” until JESUS moves us.

  23. 49 According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Every one was assigned a “ministry” of the tabernacle – some to clean, some to put up, some to take down, some to just prepare things to be taken down – each tribe was assigned a specific area to labor in and it became their burden to do their duties wholeheartedly and with passion.

This is similar to our ministry opportunity fair – Moses assigned them their positions, but at POFW – everyone gets to choose the area of ministry that they have “heart” and passion and a burden for. Those chosen ministries should always shine with pride and love, because they have been chosen to work in.

Every one should be about the Father’s business, working in the Kingdom, ensuring that every area of ministry is being completed with excellence.

We should all exhibit more pride in what we do for the Lord, than we do our natural duties here on earth that we earn livings for. Unfortunately, the Lord usually gets the leftovers instead of the best. Somehow if we could turn that around, Jesus would be very pleased.

  24. Numbers 4
    Prime Time
The peak of time . I found it interesting that each clan of men was from the age of 30-50. Prime time of life which usually is the most productive time of an individual’s life. To be about the business of God what a privilege. Each family was appointed something to care for. These were people who still had families to care for yet they made time to serve accordingly for the Kingdom. I think of ENDTIME Class and Prayer Room set up tear down rearrange for this and for that. Yet these men were picking the entire tabernacle up and moving it . How would we feel then? Yet it was all a part of being part of the family of working together for the Kingdom. 30-50 the strong years the prime of life giving to the Kingdom. I laugh at how young we start out in ministry and the training received along the way . God wants us equipped for His work Don’t begrudge anything done for the Kingdom . Formative years in ministry learning following leading making mistakes realizing really what is the work of God. Giving your best years without regret . Prime Time willing to give the best .
Give and it shall be given to you this is not always monetary God’s blessings of knowing you gave the best to Him .
There is Joy in serving .

  25. “Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers, From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the houses of their fathers, by their families; From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the house of their fathers; From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.

And Moses and Aaron and the chief of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and after the house of their fathers, From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation:

And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,

From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation,”

There’s nothing wrong with working when you’re old enough to work. But really there’s nothing better than working for Jesus. We should all run to the work for Jesus. There is a blessing in that work you do for Jesus. When we work for Jesus we’re expressing our love for him and everything he’s done for us. You can’t out give Jesus but you sure can work for him.

  26. 47 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation.

48 Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore,

49 According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Everyone has a place in the church. Let’s all be a willing vessel for Jesus..

  27. And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2 Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers,

3 From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

4 This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things:

5 And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it:

  28. I learned that “All the men between thirty and fifty years of age who were eligible for service in the Tabernacle and for its transportation numbered 8,580. When their names were recorded, as the Lord had commanded through Moses, each man was assigned his task and told what to carry. And so the registration was completed, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.”

  29. 12 And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers’ skins, and shall put them on a bar:

As I was reading this passage, I remember a conversation that I had a few years back, with a pastor friend of mine. It went on the lines of him asking me why I was choosing banking as a career. I asked him if he considered his job as a pastor important and asked what His goal was in his job. He stated that it is important and that it was his job to be a shepherd over the people’s soul, and that it was his job that if he felt or saw something going wrong that he would let the person know that he had concerns for them. I then stated correct, you connect with people in the church and you help them with their spiritual lives. And that I looked out for the person as far as their finances, that my job description is like that. That I look at what my Clients finances look like and help them make sound decisions based on that. But because of that, I have a good opportunity to talk with people and many times it goes into a spiritual conversation.

With that being said, God has given all of us different instruments or tools to use for His Kingdom. what are the tools that he has given to you and how are you using them to give Him Glory and Praise?

  30. 49 According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

  31. “The Kohathites must never enter the sanctuary to look at the sacred objects for even a moment, or they will die.””
‭‭. God is so powerful if you even look at the sanctuary you would die

  32. All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers, From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation, Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore. According to the commandment of the Lord they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Aside from Aaron and his sons, there was over 8000 people who took care of the tabernacle and God assigned the ones who were responsible to carry it, pack it, cover it. Everyone of those 8000 people were responsible for Gods house, rather it was put together, or torn apart, they had to make sure every part was accounted for!

    First the Kingdom

  34. Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age, all who enter the ministry to work in the Tent of Meeting.”
There is so much to do for the Kingdom. And it takes all of us. No one person should feel there is nothing to do.

  35. 1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

It is interesting how we watch a foundational principle of God. Dividing, electing, and separating this would occur in so many parallel ways. God divided and separated the entire population of the world into two groups: Hebrews and gentiles. These Hebrews now the nation of Israel were also divided into two groups: the 12 tribes and the tribe of Levi. Another example, he separated light from darkness etc.

And we read that the tribe of Levi was also divided into two groups, the Priests and the non-priests, the Levites. In this process of dividing, electing and separating, absolutely NO merit is stated for why one certain line of people was to be of a higher holy status than another.

There was nothing inherently special about Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob. There was nothing inherently special about the Tribe of Levi, and there was nothing particularly special about Aaron’s descendants (who were the priests of Israel) than any of the other sons of Levi. God simply, for His own good reasons, elected them.

At the end of the day the order of God matters, he can place and he can take away, he can give and not give, but he is still God. It is my hope and prayer that I can become all that God would have me to be a

  36. 30 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.

  37. This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens:

“This is the service” was repeated several times in this passage. We must remind ourselves that we cannot do Kingdom work in the same manner as carnal work. The art not equals. Kingdom work is not work it is service to, of , and for the KIng!

  38. God has a way he wants things done. It’s important that we follow that way. Don’t try to take shortcuts. When we di exactly what God commands us to do, we receive the reward.

  39. 15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die.

All have a place to serve in the house of God. What’s your place in the temple, the tabernacle of the Lord? Your job is important. Every task has purpose and is important. So we must ensure that we are present and prepared to serve the Lord.

  40. There was separation between the ones who could see the holy and those who could not. Today we can all approach the throne of God, but there are those who, because of relationship and commitment, are able to “see” things the rest of us can not.

  41. 16“Eleazar son of Aaron the priest will be responsible for the oil of the lampstand, the fragrant incense, the daily grain offering, and the anointing oil. In fact, Eleazar will be responsible for the entire Tabernacle and everything in it, including the sanctuary and its furnishings.”

There is responsibility on God’s house. Our Pastor, he is responsible for our church and everything in it. But its up to each individual to keep it all in good shape and maintain in good condition. Lets maintain God’s house as though it was our home.

  42. From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

4 This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things:

5 And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it:

6 And shall put thereon the covering of badgers’ skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof.

  43. 30 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.
31 And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the congregation; the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and sockets thereof,

It is all of our jobs to take care of the church! “. . . every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.” Every one that counts themself a part of the congregation is have their job and take care of it. What are you doing to take care of the church?? What is your part in this church?? Plain as day. . . What are you doing??
