Numbers 13

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

And Moses by the commandment of the Lord sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.

Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

10 Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

11 Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

12 Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

13 Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

14 Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

15 Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

16 These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

18 And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

21 So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

22 And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23 And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

24 The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.

25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26 And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.

27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

  1. 31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. We read this in proverbs and we see it live here and in any circumstances in which we loose vision. Sight tells you what is currently in front of you. Vision will tell you your future. Sometimes we get a spiritual roadblock. We come across this giant of a circumstance and just how small you are compared to what you just cant. Yet God keeps saying yes you can. Henry Ford’s famous quote is so true; whether you think you can or you think you cant, you are correct. It’s all on how you look at things. Perception. What other things has the Lord done for you that you may have forgotten about? If he had to power to do it then, of course He can do it now! If God is for you, then who can be against you? If greater is the One who is inside of you than the one in the world, then what can stand against you? We are well able to overcome it. With God by your side you can do anything. When the things start getting bigger and bigger and when we constantly keep taking our eyes off Jesus. Fix your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

  2. 16 These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

    18 And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

    19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

  3. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

It took great courage for this man to stand against the tide of unbelief, of doubt and “nevertheless attitude “.
We must put our trust in God’s promises despite of the circumstances we find ourselves in.

  4. Moses had sent out men to explore Canaan. The men reported that Canaan was fertile but the Canaan’s inhabitants were powerful and their fortified cities frightening. They were not trusting God about the promised land. We must trust God as fear is from the enemy. Consequents will be dealt with the Israelites.

  5. Caleb calmed down the crowd and said, “Let’s go and take the land. I know we can do it!”
    Numbers 13:30 CEV
Fear of the unknown will always bring doubt, torment, and paralyze people from moving forward. The LORD had told moses that the land was already theirs. So what was to fear, complain, or even make excuses? I am thankful that we are a people that has a pastor of faith! There will be times that doubt may creep in our minds when the LORD wants to do something in our lives. But if I don’t take a step to my blessings/promises someone else will be glad to take it!!! Walk by faith and not by sight❤
    This city is ours!!!

  6. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

    Matthew 17:20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

    Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

NOTHING is impossible with God! We may stumble and fall but not God never fails!

  7. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

The prize was within reach. The very promise that God gave the children of Israel was just in front of them. But the nay-sayers and doubters allowed the promise to be delayed by 40 years. This tactic of the enemy will cause deception and cause us to miss the blessings and promises of God. That tactic is FEAR!

False Evidence Appearing Real. This is something the enemy will instill in your spirit and it will cause you to lose hope. David even knew fear when he penned the 23rd psalm. In psalms 23:4-

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Though he walk through the valley of the shadow of death. This was a trick of the enemy to intensify the fear that David had. We see this being used among the children of God. But we have to remember that greater is he that’s in me, than he that is in the world. We can not and must not allow the enemy to deceive us or we will miss the promises of God.

  8. But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!”
    Numbers 13:31 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/num.13.31.NLT

Unbelief can kill a promise. Unbelief can kill a miracle. Faith in God will bring you through and into promises He has spoken over you. Just hold on. Keep the faith!!

    • Faith can move mountains
      Mountains of fear and unbelief
Faith can move mountains so why don’t we try our faith out.

Old song and that came to my mind
Faith may seem intangible but God turns the intangible into reality!

  9. Numbers 13
Two Reports Whose will you believe ?
    Fact or Faith

30.And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we

33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Whose Report will you believe ? We shall believe the report of the Lord !

Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Caleb was full of faith . He was able to see through spiritual eyes . My mind immediately went to David standing before a giant with just his slingshot and clothed with the power of God . Caleb came back with faith The men who went with Caleb are not even named here. They all surveyed the land . Caleb seen the same thing the men seen . Had not God already proven Himself several times over .
Yes there are giants to face we may appear as a grasshopper but if God before me who can stand against me. We cannot allow fear to take hold of our thoughts It is not mind over matter it is an assurance the battle belongs to God . Was this not the land the people were waiting to get to.
Pass the good report cling to the promises God has given you. The giants may appear big but think about the elephants such a large animal with fear of a small mouse . We may appear as small as a grasshopper but remember dynamite comes in small packages . Equipped with the power of the Holy Ghost Caleb did not deny anything the other men said he just came back with we can overcome it . He replaced fear with faith .

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exalts, and with my song I give thanks to him.” ~ Psalm 28:7. …
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7. …

  10. Numbers 13: 26-27 [Amp] They came to Moses and Aaron and all the Israelites congregation of the Wilderness of Paran at Kadesh, and brought them word, and showed them the land’s fruit.
[27] They told Moses, We came to the land to which you sent us; surely it flows with milk and honey. This is its fruit. Don’t let doubt creep in to your mind there nothing to hard for God to do. Where your faith! He keeps his promises. I love Jesus!

  11. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

Perspective is everything. What Caleb and Joshua saw was the exact opposite of what the other 10 men saw when they went to go scout the land. The people of Israel chose to believe the 10 over the two. The original mission was just sent to scout the land and to see the people not to determine whether or not God could give them the land. God does not care about the opinions of naysayers. These are the same people that just watched the red Sea split yet cower over men. While we like to stuff in criticize the people of Israel for being scared we often do the same thing, God will deliver us out of something great and mighty but as soon as a little trouble comes we start to get scared and doubt our faith. Just give me Jesus. We need to get the mindset of a Conquerer and see the promise

  12. 33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

A vision: they saw themselves small and defenseless!! How do you see yourself? And if we do see ourselves that way why can’t we look at our God and see His strength, His Power, and His Shield!! I watch as my friends kids sang God is bigger than the boogie man, that’s the way we need to be knowing that God Can and He Will!!!

  13. Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight in the armies of the living God….

[31] But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

  14. LIVE-GIVE JESUS
    THE DANGER OF PERSONAL INTERPRETATION

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Negative attitudes (food) and Negative words (Leadership) produce Negative reports (assessment).

It was the personal assessment that led to the string of Negative influences. It usually begins with “I feel like” or “I feel that”. Blessings are ignored “food from heaven” and signs are ignored “leprocy and delay” and now a simple assignment is tainted and distorted by the “Negative influence”.

Negative thoughts are deceptive and costly. Israel was delayed on a wilderness death march for 40 years because of the Negative (EVIL) report.

What baffles me most is the fact that they presented the fruit of the goodness of the land and still were negative. This reveals to me that a Negative spirit will deceive the fact of fruit or evidence in hand.

They were sent to spy and assess not spy and regress. GOD said it was theirs, but their negative spirit said they couldn’t. I would rather try and fail than not try and fail.

If only Caleb had said a prayer like the one Elisha prayed when in a similar situation…

    2 Kings 6:
    16. And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

    17. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

And today we serve the same God with the same power!

  17. Bear fruit , follow Jesus orders

This was their report to Moses: “We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country—a land flowing with milk and honey. Here is the kind of fruit it produces. But the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak! The Amalekites live in the Negev, and the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country. The Canaanites live along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and along the Jordan Valley.” But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”

As I was reading this I was like…”Hey, wait a minute…I thought Joshua was one of the spies who went into the land. So I looked verse 8 (Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun) and researched it. This is what I found.

His name was Hoshea ( הוֹשֵׁעַ) the son of Nun, of the tribe of Ephraim, but Moses called him Joshua (Numbers 13:16), the name by which he is commonly known. According to the Bible he was born in Egypt prior to the Exodus.

So, just in case some of you were wondering like I was wondering…then wonder no more.

  19. Verse 30 MSG “Caleb interrupted, called for silence before Moses and said, “Let’s go up and take the land—now. We can do it.” This is the positive way to look at things when you know who you belong to. We are the children of God and the battle is not ours; but, His. 2 Chronicles 20:15 AMP says “He said, “Listen carefully, all [you people of] Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat. The Lord says this to you: ‘Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

  20. 18 And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
    19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
20 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

So the men that went up were heads of the tribes ,but what kind of relationship did they have with Moses??? They should’ve known not to bring an evil report!!! That is what i think , but you never know who others are until it comes to certain situations and certain priorities…..they didnt rely on GOD, they relied on their own strength forgetting who they belonged to…. sounds like us sometimes!!!

  21. 32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

One man from each tribe went to search out the land as commanded by the Lord to Moses. They all saw the same thing – each one through their own eyes. Yet two of them had a different idea about the land than the rest. Two saw it as an opportunity for the people to grow and prosper, the other ten saw it as impossible.

It is important that we pray to have eyes to see as Jesus sees. In our natural eyes things may look like obstacles, that are really opportunities for our faith to be stretched and to grow us. If we can step back and view it through prayer and inspiration from the Lord, He will show us the correct way to approach every situation.

  22. 14:31 but the men that went up with him said: we be not able to go up against that people, for they are stronger than we.

Speak and share your faith with those who understand that we face situations by faith and not by sight.
Not everyone will persuade you by faith, but instead by what they asume and think…..
    Walk by faith !!!!!!

  23. When you have faith anything is possible

What faith can do- by Kutless
    Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
    Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you are stronger, stronger than you know
    Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
    You gotta face the clouds
    To find the silver lining

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
    Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
    I’ve seen miracles just happen
    Silent prayers get answered
    Broken hearts become brand new
    That’s what faith can do

It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard
    Impossible is not a word
It’s just a reason for someone not to try
    Everybody’s scared to death
When they decide to take that step
    Out on the water
    It’ll be alright
    Life is so much more
Than what your eyes are seeing
    You will find your way
    If you keep believing

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
    Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
    I’ve seen miracles just happen
    Silent prayers get answered
    Broken hearts become brand new
    That’s what faith can do

    Overcome the odds
    You don’t have a chance
    (That’s what faith can do)
When the world says you can’t
It’ll tell you that you can!

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
    Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
    I’ve seen miracles just happen
    Silent prayers get answered
    Broken hearts become brand new
    That’s what faith can do
    That’s what faith can do

    Even if you fall sometimes
You will have the strength to rise

  24. Numbers 13:30-32
    30) And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
    31) But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
    32) And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying,…

    Faith vs Fear
Faith tells us “We Can Do It!”
Faith tells us ” We Can Overcome It!”
    BUT
Fear, on the other hand, causes us to doubt and have unbelief.

So, Who’s report will you believe? A Good Report or an Evil Report?

The question is, “What happened to those men of Faith, and what happened to those who feared?”
The answer. We will find out tomorrow.
    TO BE CONTINUED……………………………………………………………………………..

  25. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Caleb from the tribe of Judah was confident to take over the land. When we go forward in praise, we automatically walk in confidence and boldness knowing that God is going before us to fight and win the victory. Praise the Lord and be confident through Him!

  26. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

Caleb commanded the people to immediately trust and obey God and to take the land, because God had made them able. It took alot of courage for this man to stand against all of the unbelief and discouragement.
Two men saw the exact same thing. The same grapes, the same men, the same land, the same cities but only one came in faith, and the other is filled with disbelief. Faith or unbelief does not rise from circumstances or environment, but from our hearts, which God must change.

  27. These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

    18 And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

    19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

  28. 17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

    18 And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

    19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.
Moses gave them simple instructions basically no matter what it is this it what needed to be done because it was apart of God’s plan. So they couldn’t have any kind of excuses not to follow through with Moses request.

  29. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Sometimes we have to be willing to jump at the chances that Jesus gives us. The Word says that time and chance happens to us all, the question is what do we do with the time and chances that we are given.

  30. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

When we allow God to be the author of our lives we trust him to transform the impossible to possible. The chapter could have and should have ended here yet the people gave a bad report. Lord, cause me to put my faith in you and not allow bad news to stop me from seeing what you’ve already spoken.

  31. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

We are hesitant to go into the promise land because there are challenges. We are more likely to stay where we are, even if its miserable, because we are lead to believe this is all we are capable of. “The devil is a lie” for ONE nothing is impossible for my God, TWO the God that I serve has never broken a promise, and THREE you’ve got to have faith.

The hebrew meaning for Caleb means faithful, devotion, whole hearted, bold, and brave. I’ve been shown a lot today, about being bold and speaking out and knowing that i can over come challenges. I can see clearly that going into the next year i will have a complete victory and will overcome much much more. I will keep pushing forward and taking others with me.

  32. 31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

It was true from a human perspective that they are stronger than we – but to say, “we are not able to go up against the people” was a lie.

  33. This account is always interesting to me how so many were sent out with Caleb but we only remember Calebs name. Caleb was the one who had faith that they could take the promised land even though there were things standing in the way. All the others were scared and wanting to turn back. We remember Caleb for his courage and faith but unless you just read this chapter no one ever remembers the others. The negative report was called evil. We have to delegate our selves from negative people in our lives if we want to conquer great things. Negativity is like cancer to your faith. No one ever removers the loser.

  34. 25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

Perhaps the most interesting part about this portion of scripture is towards the end how the instruction was given that (1) man per each tribe was to go and search the land and follow the instruction given. The promise was given, God gave Moses the permission to send these men to search out the land for 40 days, and in this exact transition what was to be discovered in the 40 days as recorded in scripture was precisely what was promised a land that flowed with milk and honey.

The interesting facts regarding this endeavor was the proclamation of good news concerning the land which flowed with milk and honey, but also the negative news that was brought about by intimidation and fear, these men reported that the people of the land possessed great strength, that the cities are walled and are of great volume. At this, the suggestion arose by Caleb in efforts to calm and assert confidence within the people that they were able to indeed possess the land that they had just witnessed.

Albeit these men that were sent stated with assertion, “we are not able to go up against the people”. They contended within themselves “they are stronger then we are”. The text confirms that they provided evil reports of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, they proclaimed “The land, through which we have gone to search, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature”. The doubt was fueled by intimidation and fear, the elements they witnessed prodded them into a point of retreat.

Confidently it is with no doubt that the human/carnal mind is enmity against God (Romans 8:7-8). The goodness of God was demonstrated, the essence of the land that was to be possessed contained that of which was fruitful and vibrant, and it was compassed about with a touch of God’s goodness if you will.

In my opinion it does bare much weight as to how the mind is contrary to the things of God, it blows my mind how even while the evidence is presented, the tangible elements are precisely at hand, the promise set before us and yet many times the human mind wants to always suggest a worthless suggestion, it tends to feed the logic process of thinking. It goes contrary against the grain and the plan of God.

The power of the carnal mind, it is enmity against God. The Apostle Paul asserts the mind is not only opposed to God merely, rather it is positive enmity. It is not black, but is the epitome of blackness, it is not rebellious, it is rebellion.

The carnal mind deals great blows to the laws and instruction of God, it begins to rewrite in a state of rebellion the plan of God. The carnal mind in a state of logic thinking begins to ignore the voice of God. The carnal mind dismisses the goodness of God, it will dissipate the confidence that preachers so tirelessly invest into us.

Clearly it can be seen why he stated, “my ways are not your ways, and my thoughts are not your thoughts”. The battlefield of the mind, what a tragedy, it does make me wonder and brings to tears how many promises have we slayed? How many words of affirmation by God have we discarded as if they had no value? How many blessings were left intact as a gift unopened in a box and we just tossed it?

What about the plan of God for our lives? The will of God suppressed by the carnal mind, the tangible promises of God voided by the carnal mind. What an unpleasant element to be contended with.

Amazing, these leaders that were sent who lacked faith and trust but who had authority denied 3 million Israelites to possess the land.

How many times on the battlefield of the carnal mind have we lost because we sided with the carnal mind?

My prayer is that I be subjected to the plan of God, that this word so dwell deeply in my heart, and may it be written on the tables of my heart. May it take deep affect in my spirit. May I be measured not by the outer appearance, and by the outward element. But it is my desire that I be like that tree that is planted by the rivers of living water that will bring forth its fruit in its season. It is a root system that by the word of God will sustain you and root you to not be moved.

POFW.ORG – It’s been awesome past few weeks. No Joke.

  35. Again the Israelites mumbled and complained saying why didn’t we just stay in Egypt? God was furious with them. Aaron and Moses pleaded with God not to kill them or do major harm to them. Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh said to the entire Israelite assembly 7 “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. 8 If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land , a land flowing with milk and honey , and will give it to us.” The whole assembly talked about stoning them. Then the glory of the Lord appeared to all the Israelites. Under the Law Covenant, direct disobedience called for punishment. Moses prayed for the people , and the Lord pardoned their sin. But the Israelites could not avoid the consequences of their unwillingness to obey the Lord. For forty years they will wander never to see the land promised them. Their children will be brought into the land they rejected along with Caleb and Joshua and Moses.

  36. There are sometimes great walled cities in our lives and in the ministry. We have to have the mindset of Caleb, let’s go right now and take the city. We need to listen to God when things arise and not those who have unbelief around us. We can take Fort Worth in Jesus name!

  37. Rather than look on the bright side: God was for them, their was awesome fruit of the land, there was wood for building, they chose to to look through carnal eyes and allowed fear to imobilize them. We know today we walk by faith, not by sight.

  38. 31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

Bad news could be very discouraging, But if He is with us, who could be agains us!!!
    Do not be afraid!

  39. 6 Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

I always asked myself why Caleb was the brave one in the situation. Then it all makes sense when we see that he was from the tribe of Judah.

The ones eager to go fight, always in front. JUDAH – PRAISE. You only sing when you are confident in your victory.

The greatest example I can see was Jesus.

Jesus famous last word on the cross,

“My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?”

To many it was a sign of defeat and some even say the human side of Christ shown weakness but if we examine it closer.

Psalm 22:1 My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?

In his last moment, Judah prevailed!

  40. 17 Moses gave the men these instructions as he sent them out to explore the land: “Go north through the Negev into the hill country. 18 See what the land is like, and find out whether the people living there are strong or weak, few or many.

Report the facts on what you see. There is no need to exaggerate what you see. Eventually the truth will come out, and others will see it.
