Numbers 14

And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.

10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

11 And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

12 I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

13 And Moses said unto the Lord, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)

14 And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou Lord art among this people, that thou Lord art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

15 Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,

16 Because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.

17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

18 The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

19 Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

20 And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word:

21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.

22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:

24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

25 (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) Tomorrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

26 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:

29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me.

30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

31 But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.

32 But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.

33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

35 I the Lord have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

36 And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,

37 Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the Lord.

38 But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

39 And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.

40 And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the Lord hath promised: for we have sinned.

41 And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the Lord? but it shall not prosper.

42 Go not up, for the Lord is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies.

43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the Lord, therefore the Lord will not be with you.

44 But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.

45 Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.

  1. 7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

There is nothing like courage and Faith!! Caleb knew that God Can and He Will do as He said He will do! Is that simple!!! Faith!! I don’t know how after seeing all the miracles God had done could they say: 4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt. As soon as they are encounter with opposition let’s tuck tail and run back to the sin that slaves us, because is comfortable!!! Lord forbid we become comfortable and forget what God has done for us!!! Let the Lord stir our hearts and search us, pushing us to an uncomfortable position so we know that there is NOTHING LIKE OUR GOD!!! Our God is mighty, our God is Miraculous, our God is ALL WE NEED TO CONQUER ALL!!!! May the spirit of Caleb live in us always knowing that GOD CAN AND HE WILL!!

  2. “Do not go up into the land now. You will only be crushed by your enemies because the Lord is not with you. When you face the Amalekites and Canaanites in battle, you will be slaughtered. The Lord will abandon you because you have abandoned the Lord.””
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14:42-43‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Theres a reasons Gods got you where you’re at today. Sometimes we get impatient, we see an opportunity for change in something that’s been the same for a long time and we take it with no hesitation. If God says it’s not time then it’s not time. As you can see the scripture above when you go to the land and the Lord said not to then He’s not gonna be there to back you up when it comes down to facing your enemies. Why? Because you abandoned him he abandons you in battle.. He said Be still and Know IAM God

  3. 5Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. 6And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: 7And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. 8If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. 9Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. 10But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

At an estimation of about 3-6 million people crying to Moses and Aaron. Then Caleb and Joshua joined in renting their clothes and crying before the Lord. It showed the children of Israel was fearful because of the 10 bay-sayers and they let doubt and unbelief fill their minds. They saw the size of their problem instead of seeing the size of God. They were not open enough to trust a man that brought them out of Egypt’s hand.

Sometimes we have to look past circumstances and see the promise. We have seek the face of God so that our vision is not erred and our judgement is not erred. We have to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness to have the authority and power of God to go through any problem to get our promise. Be a Joshua and Caleb so that even though they waited forty years for a promise, they were able to still receive it

  4. 10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones.

It always seems that there are those that no matter how God blesses and keeps them… In times of opposition they choose to moan and complain. The Children of Israel had come through such struggles while in bondage and the majority of them had the notion that they would rather be in bondage than free… I have never understood that? God provided their needs while in the wilderness and they still wanted to go back… And that is why they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years and some never saw the Promiseland.

  5. 4. And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

They could no better “make” a captain to successfully lead them against God’s plan than they could melt down their earrings and “make” the god that brought them out of Egypt.
Yes, they made the calf and told themselves that it led them out, but they all knew it was a lie; and sure, they could put someone in the position of captain, but they won’t have the power to perform that only God can give.

  6. Numbers 14 : 17 -18 [Amp] And now, I pray You , let the power of my Lord be great, as You have promised, saying.
[18] The Lord is long- suffering and slow to anger , and abundant in mercy and loving kindness forgiving iniquity and transgression: But he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and the fourth generation. Our God is not finished Yet!

  7. The People of Israel continued to murmur and complain about their circumstances, even after seeing all that the hand of the Lord had brought them through. They even tried to abide by what God said once they had their opportunity to vent; but, it doesn’t work that way. Obedience is key and we are inclined to do so instead of trying to change our minds and saying “fine we’ll do it your way”. The the second you do your own thing, you have now separated yourself and pushed away God’s blessing/promise. We must hold onto the blessing that God has given us, protect it and cherish every opportunity to do something together in the Lord.

  8. 23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:
24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

It pays to stay faithful and be positive. Even though Caleb and Joshua had to wait an extra 40 years even though they had believe God from the beginning they still receive the promise that God originally had given the people of Israel. because our perspective is our reality. How we choose to see things and act on them will always make the difference In how we respond in what we receive. Better to have some faith that God will bring you through it then no faith at all. Israel’s problem was that they forgot how great and mighty there God was even though they had not left Egypt not long ago.

  9. iLove Jesus
Num 14:1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

I guess I had never slowed down enough to read this…In my mind I thought the following: The spies brought an evil report and immediately God cursed them to 40 years in the wilderness. But as I read this today, I notice that they cried and wept all night long. Now lets think about this for a minute. God is a loving Father correct? Why didn’t God reach out to them and comfort them? The same is true for us today. If we expect to receive something from God, we can’t come weeping in unbelief or come to Him complaining. The way the Children of Israel (along with us today) should have come to God is through faith. We all have to change our attitudes and come to God in faith and then he will hear us. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. In this situation, unbelief came through the negative word of the spies.

  10. TO BE CONTINUED………from yesterday.
The question was, “So what happened to those men of faith, and what happened to those who feared (who were doubtful and had unbelief in their hearts)?”

The answer is (Numbers 14:36-38), “36) And them men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land, 37) Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD. 38) But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.
Joshua and Caleb lived, while the other 10 men died by the plague.

And those who rose up against Moses and Aaron and murmured against the LORD, 20 years old and upward, died in the wilderness. They never entered into the promised land. But Joshua and Caleb did, and the their little ones (the little ones of those who murmured), who they said should be a prey, the LORD would bring into the promised land, and they would know the land which they despised. (Numbers 14:27-32).

Have FAITH! TRUST and BELIEVE GOD!
Be fully persuaded that, what he has promised, he is able also to perform. (Romans 4:21)

  11. Who’s report will you believe?

37 Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the Lord.

38 But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

These men spread a bad report and the Lord did not allow them to inherit the promised land. This morning we must be careful not to allow ourselves to receive or spread bad reports about what God has already proclaimed.

Ive seen it and experienced it many times, where one persons bad commit or ill feels towards something or someone changes most of the room to believe the same lie that they have. Yes, the issue may not look perfect or right in your eyes but we have to be faithful to GO TO GOD in ALL THINGS! He will open the windows of our understand to see through the spirit.

We are not the judge of anything. The reality is in the end we are not the judge of our own lives. We will be judged by our actions but our lives are at the mercy of a Wonderfull Savior. So, let’s believe His report and allow Him to give us direction and strength when the battles look too hard for us, one thing is for sure it is never too hard for HIM!

  12. “and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, LORD, are among these people [of Israel], that You, LORD, are seen face to face, while Your cloud stands over them; and that You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. Now if You kill these people as one man, then the nations (Gentiles) that have heard of Your fame will say, ‘Because the LORD was not able to bring these people into the land which He promised to give them, therefore He slaughtered them in the wilderness.’ But now, please, let the power of the Lord be great, just as You have declared, saying, ‘The LORD is slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving wickedness and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting (avenging) the wickedness and guilt of the fathers on the children, to the third and fourth generations [that is, calling the children to account for the sins of their fathers].’ Please pardon the wickedness and guilt of these people according to the greatness of Your lovingkindness, just as You have forgiven these people, from Egypt even until now.””
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14:14-19‬ ‭AMP‬‬

In this passage of scripture we see the importance of a pastor in our lives. Our pastor is like a shepherd. The shepherd leads us to green pastures to eat while he watches for predators for us. He leads us by the brook to drink oh well he watches out for us. Having a pastor in our lives is very important we need that protection we need that covering. Moses stood in the gap And interceded for the congregation even though the people were not correct.

  13. 2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

3 And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

They were set free from bondage but they never let go of that slave mentality. They would have rather go back to that old life of captivity than to follow in the Will of God.

How many times do we see this? When walking a life of faith becomes harder than expected, people revert back to their old ways and mindset.

In every walk of life, there will be hardships, there will be trials to face. But living in the will of God will always have a greater reward then living in rebellion.

  14. Numbers 17
4 “But my servant Caleb—this is a different story. He has a different spirit; he follows me passionately. I’ll bring him into the land that he scouted and his children will inherit it.

Hold to God’s promises. Blessings will come from obedience submission to God’s word. Follow passionately after God. Don’t allow anything to distract. Rumor gossip mill attitude and actions of others. Keep your eyes on the goal . Stay focused daily on each step God is leading you. Caleb could have ran with the crowd but he chose to be different. It’s ok not to fit in . Stand up be different there just may be someone waiting for someone like you to lead them to the Promise Land .

    Joshua 1:9
    New International Version
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

  15. Amen!
Keep following Pastor God blessed us with and we will see REVIVAL together!

I believe in the report of the Lord!

  16. 4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
    Psalm 84:10
10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

I don’t know why anyone would rather go back into bondage than follow God, after being delivered from lies, gambling, drugs, alcohol and so many other things I never want to leave his way ever. Thank you Jesus for your deliverance in our lives.

  17. “Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night. Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. “If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained. “Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?””
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The challenge of faith before the people seemed so great – and so grievous – that they would rather have died than go on with what the LORD has for them.

Lord let me have the faith and the vision Pastor has. I never want to be the complainer and the one that doesn’t have the faith that Pastor’s vision doesn’t come to pass.

  18. LIVE-GIVE JESUS
    I AM THE BUT

24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

While the murmurers had their day of influence. Joshua and Caleb had their GOD. It matters not that we could sway the multitudes to see “IT” our way. If our way is not Blessed of GOD it will no doubt fail.

Caleb had a spirit that was after GOD, he sought to move in and with GOD while others were about their feelings and thoughts. Even if and when we are not with the majority, we must ensure that we are with GOD and that GOD Is with us.

This chapter is full of revelation and to confirm we need GOD.

BUT Joshua and Caleb. STAY with the ARK of GOD.

Once they saw judgement on the 10 they decided to go possess the land. But GOD was not with them. Proving that we cannot manipulate GOD to do it our way. We must submit to HIS way.

  19. 14:42 Go not up, for the Lord is not among you, that ye be not smitten before thy enemies.
    ——-
After this great sin they have committed, you would think that now they would really consult with God ( come to Moses and discuss the issue…) but no, they are getting ready to do something , which is not Gods idea( will) …
    —-

But what got my attention is where it says:
…… For the Lord is not among you… again after this great sin, If I am truly repented I want to make things right, I want to seek the Lord more and more and of course I want to know that I k ow the Lord is with me, in the midst of everything. I want to be confident that my God is with me guiding me and supporting me.
( because I am obeying him and we are walking together) .

  20. Better late than never was not the case here. Time after time the children of Isreal were warned and redeemed, yet they still complained and disregarded the Lord. Its imperative that we obey the first time the Lord speaks or we will miss opportunity and rob ourselves of blessings.

  21. 11 And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

Believing what we cannot see is hard. All of us are skeptics to some degree. Some more than others. But there is often more going on inside a skeptic than meets the eye. Each of us have a past that has formed us into who we are today. Some experiences have improved our outlook on life while others formed barriers that we have built to protect ourselves.

Be patient and gracious with the skeptics in your life and yourself if you are the skeptic. Don’t assume the outward confidence accurately reflects the inward condition. Keep praying for yourself and those who are more guarded. Keep confidently and humbly following Jesus. We must learn to trust his timing. He knows best how and when to reveal himself to each of us.

  22. 43When you face the Amalekites and Canaanites in battle, you will be slaughtered. The Lord will abandon you because you have abandoned the Lord.”

Every choice of action and every word spoken, muttered, or thought, will have a consequence. I think at times we get loose with our talk and allow ourselves to speak things that are better off unsaid.

If your verbiage is speaking against The Lord or even an individual we are choosing to abandon them.

James 4:11-12 Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you. God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?

  23. I love the relationship Moses has with God
Moses tells God His hearts thoughts and feelings.
Knowing the voice of the LORD

[16] Because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.
17] And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,
18] The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty , visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation .

[19] Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
20] And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word:
21] But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord .

    1 Samuel 3:5-10 KJV
[5] And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. [6] And the Lord called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. [7] Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord , neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him. [8] And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child. [9] Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord ; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. [10] And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

  24. 10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones.

It’s dangerous when our actions provoke the Lord that He comes to the man of God and tells him that He is going to smite His chosen people with pestilence and disinherit them, and will make raise up a nation mightier than the plans He had for them.

Their disbelief had somehow took over their thought process and now they find themselves in a state of complaining and murmuring and wishing again for where God delivered them from. Their short memory of how Egypt was a hard taskmaster over them, causing them much pain had left their memory and now all they could think about was the land of opportunity that waited for them to conquer. Yet because of an evil report brought up by some of the leaders, it looked like an impossibility and that they would have to expend more energy than they cared to in order to possess their promised land.

We cannot allow the enemy or anyone to place thoughts in our heads that would lead us away from the promises of God for our lives. When God gives a promise to us individually or corporately, we must stay the course, continue on the right path in order to receive that promise. If we become distracted by what other’s say, it could cause us to lose sight of that precious promise and never see it come to pass. I remember a message preached by Bro. Huntlley – When your ship comes in don’t be a the bus stop.”

  25. 40 Then they got up early the next morning and went to the top of the range of hills. “Let’s go,” they said. “We realize that we have sinned, but now we are ready to enter the land the Lord has promised us.”

41 But Moses said, “Why are you now disobeying the Lord’s orders to return to the wilderness? It won’t work.

Our plans are not better than the Lords as much as we might think they are. Jesus paths r always going to be better than ours. Even when the Lord says something and we don’t see it right away it shall come to pass. It’s amazing to me that even though the Lord told them to not go they still wants to go whatever they wanted like if Gods voice didn’t matter. We have to remember that the Lord doesn’t leave us but we leave Him!!! We can’t be living off of other people’s blessings but we have to fight and win our own victories. Always Trust in the Lord!!!

  26. 24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

A different spirit is what God’s children must possess as we live in this carnal world. A spirit full of faith, knowing the promises of God are yea and amen to us who believe. It’s okay to stand out in the crowd believing what God says is true. He has our backs as we put him first so we can testify to others as we seek for a “Benjamin” to invite to church or for Bible study. Let them see your faith, your blessings and answers to your prayers to build their faith in God.

  27. 2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

This is the great question of why. Why do good righteous people become terminally ill? Why don’t the wicked die instead? The truth is we may never know and it’s not our place. God knows and allows who will live, die, and resurrect. The Bible says that rain will fall upon the just and the unjust alike (Mat 5:25). God is desiring a relationship with and in doing so requires communication. Murmuring and complaining is not something anyone enjoys hearing though nor does it please God. We may not get all the answers that we desire from God. That should not be our main focus either. He didn’t say life would be easy, he does promise he will not leave us. The trials and tribulations will strengthen us and our faith in Him.

Romans 9:14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses,“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” g 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

  28. Then they got up early the next morning and went to the top of the range of hills. “Let’s go,” they said. “We realize that we have sinned, but now we are ready to enter the land the Lord has promised us.” But Moses said, “Why are you now disobeying the Lord ’s orders to return to the wilderness? It won’t work. When you face the Amalekites and Canaanites in battle, you will be slaughtered. The Lord will abandon you because you have abandoned the Lord .” But the people defiantly pushed ahead toward the hill country, even though neither Moses nor the Ark of the Lord ’s Covenant left the camp. Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites who lived in those hills came down and attacked them and chased them back as far as Hormah.

When God closes a door in our lives it is dangerous for us to try to reopen it. Whether the door was closed for our protection, our disobedience, another reason, it doesn’t matter. There are reactions, responses, and consequences to everything we do in life. If we do the right thing then there’s positive results. If we’re living in sin or disobedience or just complaining about everything fan we will not get the same opportunities as if we were living for God with a grateful heart. Simply living in a state of gratitude opens up new opportunities and even changes the way we fake and gives us a New perspective. We see things in a whole new light. What’s so sad about this consequence for the Israelites is that they still didn’t stop complaining later on in the book of Numbers. They didn’t learn their lesson even after receiving a death sentence because of their actions. Jesus, I pray that you keep your hands on us. Help us to live and a constant state of gratitude and live a life of Thanksgiving. How about to change the way we think, change our perspective the world around us and in life you have given us and opportunities in that line I thank you God for open doors. And I thank you God for closed doors. How best to have a healthy respect for both and to meet you in prayer everyday and seeking guidance for the opportunities in our lives. Bless your holy name. In Jesus name amen

  29. 7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9 Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.

10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

  30. The whole community was in an uproar, wailing all night long. All the People of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The entire community was in on it: “Why didn’t we die in Egypt? Or in this wilderness? Why has God brought us to this country to kill us? Our wives and children are about to become plunder. Why don’t we just head back to Egypt? And right now!”

Soon they were all saying it to one another: “Let’s pick a new leader; let’s head back to Egypt.”

I learned that Moses and Aron kept to God and his word. When God gives us direction or instructions we have to follow his word no matter what. Their might be trials in the way, but that just might be a test that Hod put in front of us. We have to keep our word and do what we are asked of BE OBEDIENT PIFW!!😁😁

  31. 6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

Joshua and Caleb had seen the good things that they wished to possess. Not only did they want so badly to possess them, but they truly believed that with God’s help they could. So much so that they tore their clothes off of them.

7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

Sometimes we can walk through our promises or blessing but not fully possess them. We can eat the grapes or partake of the blessing, but once it runs out it’s done. Why is that? Is their a place in us that needs more faith or someone around us that is bringing us down just like those around Joshua and Caleb?? If it seems like you get blessed then it taken away or like it seems like you just can’t ever get ahead, just sit back and evaluate those around you. Get rid of the naysayers in your life and rise up victorious.

  32. 11 And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

12 I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

13 And Moses said unto the Lord, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)

14 And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou Lord art among this people, that thou Lord art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

What else does He have to do to prove Himself to you? What other wonders must he show that we may believe in Him? Many times we come to God and he answers but we forget of his greatness the moment we come across another difficulty. To his people the literally saw the miracles signs and wonders. Things out of this world yet they still had unbelief and lack of trust. It is our attitude that proves in whom we trust. It is our response to situations that show God if we truly believe he will come true for us. Yes sometimes things out of our control happen but He is still the sovereign God. He is still in control of everything. So praise Him, give Him glory due to his name, exalt Him and not the problem. May our faith constantly grow. May our eyes be fixed on Him in the time of trouble may the joy of the Lord be our strength.

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
    Proverbs 24:10 KJV

  33. Numbers chapter 14

I Caleb and Joshua tore their clothes to show remorse because they fathomed the beauty of the land, yet others could not see it. They confronted the Israelites to trust in the Lord that He would see them in their rightful land, but this led to disagreements and chaos.

  34. i noticed that in this chapter that Caleb went into the far land so he can claim the land for himself if we can have faith it will lead to determination and then it will give us the courage to go out and claim the land for ourselves.

  35. “Y’all alls i gots to say is them Israelites was a few bricks shy…” 🙌Thank you for the blood of Jesus.🙌
A wise man once told me that when you’ve reached a plateau in life, a curtain peak, we have only 2 choices its to move ON UUUUUPPP….. or you can continue to wonder. Just because you’ve reached certain point, a plateau in your spiritual life doesn’t mean you keep going through the motions. You gotta push yourself up there. Living a life of Christ is no easy task but when we stick with ot when we really continue to go deeper into it, we get to Canaan, we receive our promises. We stop wondering and we gain direction. So you CAN continue to wonder for the next 40 years “wondering” why you keep serving the way you’ve always served, you keep grumbling and are getting restless because its the same old same old. OOOOOORRRR YOU can go into Canaan. 👉👆

  36. 17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,
18 The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

Sometimes we have to simply remind Jesus of his promises aloud, that way the enemy knows that we DO know The Word.

  37. 44 But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.

45 Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.

  38. 8 If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. 9 Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.” NIV

  39. 3 And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

Just because things don’t appear to be the way you want it to be, that doesn’t mean give up. Times will get tough and it may seem impossible for you to make it through. Just trust in the Lord and he will give you the strength you need to make it through.

  40. A leaders voice

It is so dangerous for a leader to speak ill or even just complain. It is like a cancer for those who follow. An evil report brought by a leader could stop everything. We as leaders have to watch what we say and keep our spirits positive so that we are not the cause of someone going astray. Let us see the glass half full and the ship still upright. We can either be encouragement or poison to those who are following us.

  41. 24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

God is always willing to bless us, but He will not bless you if you have a contrary spirit, just like in verse 27 how long shall I bear with this evil congregation, Wich murmur against me? I have heard the murmuring of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

  42. 10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

    When is enough, ENOUGH!

We all have a boiling point. Specially before we meet Christ. But is it too far of a stretch to say that our lack in faith in Gods ability, can provoke his anger to come against us?

I see this through the eyes of my children. I love the very much. Even when they are bad and do what I don’t like. That fact never changes but my love has never stopped me from correcting them.

In fact I correct them because I love them.

  43. 1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

The essence of this chapter conveys many tragic elements. From the inception of the chapter we see 1st hand how the people complained and wept sorely, the foolish suggestions that were vocalized are rather astounding. I find it interesting how it appears that fear and doubt caused for foolish proclamations, and also ungratefulness of heart.

    Statements:
“Would to God we would have died in Egypt”
“Would to God we would have died in the wilderness”
Translation: We prefer slavery to our former evil taskmasters than redemption from the Lord because the slavery was more comfortable and familiar and did seem to have its perks.

“If ONLY we had stayed in Egypt”
Translation: Seeing the tangible acts of God, seeing the promise land, but perhaps our former slavery was better, we are perhaps more content with former things of old.
Let’s go back to slavery and captivity. At least we ate better. At least we had houses to live in and we weren’t required to fight and put our lives at risk

“Why God?” They still asked these questions with the actual visual of the work of God in their midst. They were just a few steps from the promise, they were going to be compassed about with blessings and a land that flowed with milk and honey, yet the suggestion is WHY God? The carnal mind does not allow for the promise to come to pass.

“Did you bring us here to be slaughtered by the Canaanites?” Again this brings me back to the human mind, how it impairs our faith in God, how can the question be offered, “Did you bring us here to be slaughtered?” The reality is, he that created the heavens and the earth it was he that sent them, he was the one that had this land prepared for them, and they had this great God on their side the most powerful individual on the planet, he that created the planet was on their side!

Essentially it was a promised victory that could literally be seen, it set before them, it was to be possessed by these people yet they questioned the purpose and plan of God because of doubt and fear.

May we ask God to take control of our mind that we be subject to him. If we follow the lead of our own thinking, by what I have read in this chapter we not only caused the anger of God to overtake us, but also the judgement of God that can being about high consequences because of our carnal thinking.

    God help us –

  44. If the Lord delights in us then he will give us the Land. The thing is, they already knew that the Lord delighted in them. He already provided miracle after miracle to prove his favor. At this point the children of Israel were trying to be ostriches and burry themselves at the sight of their problems, that they were supposed to overcome. The mighty four were left to care for the whole nation of Israelites.

They were us four and no more all the while wanting everyone to agree with them.

  45. “not one of those who saw my glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness but who disobeyed me and tested me ten times— not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14:22-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We can choose to continue complaining about what is wrong and not going our way or we can choose to sing praises through our hardship. There’s a very fine line between being ungrateful and simply not seeing the big picture during hard times. Don’t let your words become words of contempt or ungrateful ness that will cause you never to see what God has promised, not only to you but the generations after you.

  46. 3“Why is the LORD taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?” 4 Then they plotted among themselves, “Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!”

How easy one forgets the goodness of God. They rather fall back to what they know, which is their past. Instead of looking forward and expecting blessings to come their way. Don’t look back, but look ahead at the good things coming.
