Numbers 27

Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

10 And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren.

11 And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the Lord commanded Moses.

12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

14 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

15 And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying,

16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

18 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

19 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

20 And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

21 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the Lord: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

22 And Moses did as the Lord commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses.

  1. The Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; and have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before the whole congregation, and give him a commission in their sight. You shall put some of your authority and honor on him, so that all the congregation of the Israelites will obey him.
    Numbers 27:18‭-‬20 AMP

I love how this was laid out by the LORD as Joshua was chosen and called. All things were done in decently and in order. There is no room for contention, division, nor murmuring. The KINGDOM OF GOD will continue to grow when there is love and unity amongst His children.

  2. 12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

    18 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

19 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

20 And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

Even though the Children of Israel had angered Moses at times and caused him to lose his temper and miss out on being able to enter into the Promise Land… Moses interceded on their behalves of the Lord. Moses could have been bitter towards them for all their whining and complaining but He put their requests before the Lord just like a true Shepherd would do.

  3. 12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

    18 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

19 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

  4. Verses 6-7 AMP “Then the Lord said to Moses, “The request of the daughters of Zelophehad is justified. You shall certainly give them a possession as an inheritance among their father’s brothers, and you shall transfer their father’s inheritance to them.” We have to claim what is ours as the daughters of Zelophehad did; but, it has to be justified.

Verses 15-17 MSG “Moses responded to God: “Let God, the God of the spirits of everyone living, set a man over this community to lead them, to show the way ahead and bring them back home so God’s community will not be like sheep without a shepherd.” This reiterates how important it is to not be running around like a sheep without a shepherd, with no direction, no guidance and blaming others for your lack of commitment. To be a leader, you must first learn to follow. LIVE-GIVE Jesus.

  5. 15And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying, 16Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, 17Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

This was the start of transition for Moses. He was able to go up into the mount Abarim and view the promise. This was God’s way telling Moses you were obedient to my commandments with the exception of the one time you rebelled and was disobedient to speak to the rock and you struck it. But God showed him the promise that they longed for since leaving Egypt.

With Moses coming to grips with not leading the children into the promise land, he knew Israel would need a shepherd. God chose Joshua. He was one of the two that believed God would give the land even though the other ten gave a negative report.

God will never allow there to be a period with no leadership. He always has a plan for his people. The only difference is that the people has to listen to the anointed and chosen of God. That’s why God had Moses bring Joshua before the congregation of the tabernacle. He always has the answer before you ever need it. God, the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, always knows the ending from the beginning. He knew what Israel needed at this time of transition.

We have to heed the voice of God through our pastor, our anointed of God, the voice of God in our lives. He will be able and should be able to speak into our lives even when we don’t want to hear it. God has placed us where he wants us and has given authority to who needs to have authority over us. Thank God for a shepherd who watches over the sheep.

  6. Numbers 27 : 5 [Amp] Moses brought their case before the Lord.
Always pray first before you do anything.
    Have a bless day.

  7. 16. Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

    17. Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

From Moses’ time til now, it has always been dangerous to be a sheep with no shepherd.

    Ezekiel 34:5
And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.

    Matthew 9:36
But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

  8. Numbers 27

The case of Zelophehad’s daughters. … Give us a possession among our father’s brothers.” So Moses brought their case before the LORD.

Then came the daughters of Zelophehad: Normally, the land inheritance should be passed from a father to his sons in Israel, not to the daughters.

  9. 15-17 Moses responded to God: “Let God, the God of the spirits of everyone living, set a man over this community to lead them, to show the way ahead and bring them back home so God’s community will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”

A shepherd tends his flock day and night. He gathers the sheep into a sheepfold or a pasture at night for their protection. The sheepfold was a pen, a cave, or an area backed by stone walls, while a pasture is an area surrounded by a fence made from various materials. In the fold area, there were no doors, gates or fences, so, the shepherd would often sleep or sit in the opening, ready to guard his sheep from harm.

Being different than a hired keeper who might run away in the face of danger, the flock belonged to the shepherd who would stay and defend them. He had a genuine loving concern for his flock. We have that kind of Pastor. I am very proud to have the Pastor that I have. He is a good shepherd, not just a hired hand.

  10. 12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

Look but don’t partake. It’s not that Moses didn’t care for God’s people, it’s not that he didn’t love God, but it was a small act of disobedience that kept him from experiencing the promise. He showed off when all he had to do was step aside and let God’s power speak for Himself. More of You and less of me Jesus; let others see You in me.

  11. 7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
8 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
9 And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

EVERYTHING in order….doesn’t matter if it was back then, THE LORD IS THE SAME , YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER WILL BE!!!

  12. 6 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
8 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

God tells us that we could come boldly before his throne. God will always vindicate us if we are in the right spirit and felt that we’ve been done wrong. He can’t help but stand with us through hard times because of his loving nature. There are many blessings we are missing out on just because we don’t come boldly before the throne and ask for the grace of God. These women obviously knew something about the nature of God and felt that if they had just brought their case before Moses that the Lord would provide. Unlike some of the other Israelites they didn’t see a God that had brought them out of Egypt to die but a Lord that would either cause and vindicate their need

  13. 16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

This show is the importance of having a Pastor. Throughout my life I have heard and seen people that always say :”I don’t need to go to church I can have church at home as long as I have a relationship with Christ that’s all I need”. It is obvious that is NOT what God wants for us. A sheep without a shepherd has no guidance, it is running around in the wilderness without directions, without the safety of a herd, and without protection. We ALL need a Shepherd!!! So do not separate yourself from the safety of the congregation, stay, have fellowship, and God will put a hedge of protection over us. Thank you Jesus for my Pastor and First Lady!!!

  14. 16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

To be wandering around without a man of God covering you is a dangerous place to be.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  15. And the Lord said to Moses: “Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him ; set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and inaugurate him in their sight. And you shall give some of your authority to him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
    Numbers 27:18-20

Of all the wonderful ways Moses expressed his leadership, the most strategic had to be his training of Joshua. Moses passed along his authority, abilities, and anointing to Joshua. He gave Joshua his time, his insight, a learning environment, and opportunity to prove himself, and a strong belief in his future. The interaction of Moses and Joshua demonstrates that reproducing leaders is not a quick, simple process. It requires time, emotional investment, and sacrifice.

Lord help me to focus so that I can LIVE and GIVE Jesus thru obedience to my Pastor who God blessed me with.

  16. Numbers 27
The true heart of a shepherd. Moses has just been told he will no longer lead and actually is getting ready to die. Because of his disobedience at the rock. Moses concern was not one of not getting to lead the people into the Promise land but who would proceed him. His concern do not allow the sheep to be without a shepherd.

“A shepherd’s main responsibility is the safety and welfare of the flock. He must watch where they graze so they eat of no poisonous plants. Moses had been leading this group a long time . His heart was with them . There is such a sting importance in the leadership of the Shepherd. He watches for the flock. He guards and guides . His heart is for the benefit of the sheep . I watched our shepherd last night making sure everyone even in times of relaxation for the sheep he and her our pastor and wife making sure the sheep had been completely tended to. Uphold your pastor your shepherd uphold your pastor’s wife she too watches cares . God has anointed and places them . They have the true heart of The Shepherd. Care for the sheep!

  17. 27:5 And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.

No decision should be taken until it’s consulted with the Lord.
Big, small, a need, a problem, a want. ANYTHING!!!! no matter what. What is, let’s consult with the Lord first.

  18. iLove Jesus
Num 27:13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

Notice that God told Moses he would be “gathered” unto his people. This means Moses you about to die. It also means that other folks are there already. One person is Aaron. God told Moses he would be gathered just like Moses was gathered.

This life isn’t the end of life. It’s only the beginning. When we die, is when we are gathered together with the elect. Guess what, when we die we will not live in Heaven for eternity as some folk think either. Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

We will have glorified bodies and we will live on a new earth.

  19. 27:5 And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.
    ——
Any problem, situation, need or want. Its always wise to first bring it to the Lord, wait … and act.

  20. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    I NEED A PASTOR

16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
    18 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

There are millions of people in earth today that live life without spiritual guidance. The motivation behind people rejecting spiritual Leadership is pride. Pride promotes personal agendas and motives and therefore sees no need to submit to authority.

One of the greatest lessons and revelations that I have learned is that when spiritual leadership says no, there is a cause and reason that leads to my protection and benefit. However negative it may seem or appear at the time.

Moses the patriarch and GOD were concerned about the people. Mainly because they both had seen what could happen when the people are left to themselves. I am thankful for our Pastor, Tom Foster. GOD has used him numerous times to protect and guide us to VICTORY in JESUS. No we have not agreed on everything, but HE is my Pastor and I do not only choose to obey when we agree.

I NEED A PASTOR that is not fearful to offend me by telling me “NO”. Pastor Foster has told me NO numerous times over the years as recent as last year. I do not make a major move without his knowledge. I give him permission and opportunity to say NO, because I refuse to be a sheep without a shepherd.

Seeing that Pastor Foster is guiding me, I pray for him daily that he will walk with JESUS, seek JESUS and Live JESUS so that JESUS affects his influence in my life. I strongly recommend everyone do the same.

  21. 7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

God recognizes even women’s request for inheritance. It just so happened their father did not have any sons, but that is not the daughters fault either. This situation shows that their are exceptions to some rules. God wants fairness among his people. This develops unity when everyone works together within good reason.

  22. [10] And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren.

[15] And Moses spake unto the Lord , saying,

    1 John 5:14-15 KJV
[14] And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15] And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

  23. 3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father

These women stated their case before God of their right to inherit land and God heard and answered. We too can present our case before God for him to work on our behalf. We can go to Pastor like they went to Moses and inquire of the Lord when we aren’t able to determine Gods will on our own. He can help us pray and give guidance for the hardest situations in life.

  24. 7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

Many people use their family as excuses – my mother sinned, so therefore I can’t be saved. However, here we find the sovereign grace of God exhibited. These daughters had nothing – their father died in the wilderness, through his own sin, and they were not recognized when people were given their inheritance. They pleaded their case before the Moses, and the Lord answered them and they were blessed with their inheritance.

We can’t get to heaven on the skirt tail of our mom or dad, or other family member. Likewise, if they lose out with God, it doesn’t mean we have to.
Each person is responsible for their own salvation and they must make their calling and election sure on their own.

  25. “Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭27:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sometimes bad things happen. Bad things don’t just happen because of disobedience and sin, sometimes they just happen. Even when those bad things happen we need to keep moving and and seek after the promises of God.

  26. 17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

I’ve have heard so many people when they decide to leave the church talk about how they don’t need a Pastor, they don’t need the authority in their life, they aren’t going to answer to someone. Most of the time it starts when they get offended over what someone said or did. There is proof here that we do indeed need a Pastor in our life!! “. . . that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.” There is no way that you can make it on your own without an overhead authority that you are submitted to and accountable to. There just isn’t any way possible.

  28. If Pastor Watts is to leave his flock for any reason, I believe the Lord God will give him insight of who is to follow him. God is Good and cares for His people!!!! He knows Pastor and Sister Watts lead this flock and care for them!!
    Praise the Lord!
    Thank you Jesus!!

  29. 15 Then Moses said to the LORD, 16“O LORD, you are the God who gives breath to all creatures. Please appoint a new man as leader for the community. 17 Give them someone who will guide them wherever they go and will lead them into battle, so the community of the LORD will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”

Moses knowing he was not going to see the promise land, he immediately realized they need a new leader. He ask God to appoint one. It may not be the easiest thing for a leader to do, that is too assign someone who will be in charge. A home, a church at work, should always have someone ready to step in if needed for day to day operations.

  30. Numbers 27:1-6
    1) THEN came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
    2) And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
    3) Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
    4) Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
    5) And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.
    6) And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

“And Moses Brought Their Cause Before The LORD”
Moses was a good example of what we should do when faced with ANY situation, Take It To The LORD In Prayer and Wait For The LORD To Answer!!

2 And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

  32. Numbers 27 #4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possesion among the brethern of our father.

Ask and you shall receive! You must go to the Lord and pray for what you need. God takes care of us but he wants to have a relationship with you. He isn’t Santa Claus but knows how and when to take care of us. When you have a relationship with God He will answer you. You must be listen and be ready to receive Gods answer.

  33. 14 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

Thank you Jesus for your word! Guide my feet and my mind by your plans.

  34. Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

Don’t allow the inheritance to die. Let us be mindful that all God has for us and all He has given us will live beyond is as is unreality bigger than us. It will need others to grab ahold of the vision to not allow the inheritance to die off with us. All a old man has is his legacy and the wisdom hidden inside of it is work passing on to others.

  35. 23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses.

God has given us a charge to do his work. We cannot ignore that the enemy wants to bring us down. Our job is to stay focused on God’s work so that we won’t be distracted by the devices of the enemy.

  36. 23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses.

God has given us a charge to do his work. We cannot ignore that the enemy wants to bring us down. Our job is to stay focused on God’s work so that we won’t be distracted by the devices of the enemy.

  37. 12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

Moses was first told he would die before coming to the Promised Land in Numbers 20. It was still many months until Moses would climb to the top of the mountain, able to see the Promised Land but not able enter it and die there.

  38. One day a petition was presented by the daughters of Zelophehad—Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. Their father, Zelophehad, was a descendant of Hepher son of Gilead, son of Makir, son of Manasseh, son of Joseph.

Lineage! Out of the loins of Joseph (meaning God will add or multiply) later comes Hepher (meaning well-a place of refreshing and life springing forth) come five daughters who’s names when brought together have a great meaning and promise. You may not know how impactful your work for the Kingdom is, but your children’s children will be added to, nourished and will spring forth with great promise! These five daughters names speak of dancing/joy/pleasing/movement/queenship and royalty/and forgiveness!! What a great basis to share in what God was going to allot them. They stood up and were counted. They petitioned for their promise and were blessed!!!!

  39. 12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

One simple command that was not followed. The Lord takes notice when we rebelled against him. What many things could the people of God be missing out in becuase of disobedience? If the Lord has said it, then do it.

  40. 15 And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying,

16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

Lord bless these wonderful men and women of God you have called to lead. Lord I thank you for my pastor and his wife. They truly are a spiritual blessing upon anyone they encounter. Lord I ask that you continue to keep your hand on them. I ask that you continue to over shadow them, cover them in all situations. Jesus continue to bless them with revival and with growth. Jesus I hope that they continue to feel the love just as much if not more then they have for us. In Jesus name, AMEN!!!

  41. 14 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

The Lord keeps account of everything that we do and don’t do. We have to be careful and make sure we are listening to His voice and obeying His commandments. How many times has the Lord told us to do something and yet refused. Let’s be sensitive unto the Lord!!!

  42. 15 And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying,
16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

The heart of a Pastor is just this. I have been fortunate to have made it here to POFW, and to learn what a real Pastor is.
Growing up, I had several denominal churches that I was affiliated with at some point or another, but this is the first church where I have been able to truly see Jesus through my Pastor.
Moses is exhibiting the same characteristics here when he is told that he is about to die, and he is more concerned for his people rather than himself.

  43. 15 And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying,
16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
    18 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
19 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
20 And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

Sheep without their shepherd are always in danger and without their shepherd they are never led to where they should be. God wants His sheep to have a shepherd. God has appointed leaders to help guide us just as Moses was appointed to lead the people of Israel. Without them we would be lost in our own ways. I am forever thankful to my God for what He has done for my family, for leading us to the proper path that was meant for us. Thank you LORD for preparing our hearts for the right time, thank you for helping us to be obedient to Your call, and thank you for finding us when we felt as though we lost our way.

  44. 3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

To live and die in sin…

A lifestyle of sin is totally different than an accidental sin. There are some things that you just chose everyday to be against the teaching of the Bible. I pray that our church and me individually lead people to a life changing event that will steer them away from the death of sin and into a life full of life an abundance in Jesus.

  45. “to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭27:17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Lead them out and bring them in,” our job as the church is to do exactly that but sometimes we forget that. Some of us are guilty of bringing them out of the darkness but never fully bringing them into the kingdom. We can’t just drop them dead and expect for them to find their way to God but we should take them by the hand and them to Him.

  46. 15 And Moses spake unto the Lord, saying,

16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

    18 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

19 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

20 And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

When reading these scriptures it certainly does maintain that God must have a shepherd to lead the sheep, I tip my hat to Pastors who preach the truth, who watch for the sheep, and who also demonstrate the fruits of the spirit when dealing with the saints. It is admirable when what is being preached behind the pulpit is also demonstrated as a living example. The clear indication in these passages reflect how the voice of the pastor in my life is the instruction of God, or at least this is how I view it.

Reading this portions of scriptures is like a mirror, it allows one to self-inspect, to rethink and rearrange certain elements. I contend to and always have, I never want to get to a place that I cannot be corrected. I can recall in my former years, I would tell my previous pastor “if you ever have a word from God for me DO NOT fail to express it to me”. It is important. I count myself not perfect which is why I must pursue to heed the voice of God. I do appreciate good constructive dialogue, and my prayer is that I fail not to be pliable, because a hardened heart nearly cannot be fixed.

The ultimate goal is to make it with Jesus Christ, when it is all said and done, I must be saved.

  47. 16 Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

If a man commits murder and then repents whole heartedly, I’m 100% sure God forgives. But the man will still face punishment for his deeds.

Sometimes we have to face the consequences of our actions even though we have repented of their sins. The Bible says that these steps of a righteous man are ordered by God. So we must believe and understand that whatever situation we find ourselves in God has a purpose for it.
