Numbers 35

And the Lord spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.

And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

12 And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.

13 And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.

14 Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.

15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.

16 And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

17 And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

18 Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

19 The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.

20 But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;

21 Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.

22 But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,

23 Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

24 Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:

25 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

26 But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

27 And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:

28 Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

29 So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.

31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

32 And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the Lord dwell among the children of Israel.

  1. 6And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities. 7So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs. 8And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

This was the commandment of God. They were to be given 42 cities to the Levite’s and also 6cities of refuge that someone could find refuge until they were to stand before the Levite’s to be judged. The only stipulation is that they were to stay until the death of the high priest and then they could leave the city of refuge to go back to their homes. This idea of safety was given as a haven of rest to the guilty.

When we look at God and all that he has done for the children of Israel, it is the same things He will do for us today. We have a refuge in him where we can run into and be safe. We find that God is that strong tower and a refuge in the time of trouble. The world may be able to confine your physical body to a jail cell but your spirit belongs to Him. We have to find that refuge in times of tribulation and when circumstances are out of our control, remember they are in his control. He will give us rest and strength when we are weary. He will be the very hand that will pick us up when we are down. There is no one like Jesus. He will stick closer than a brother. That’s why I can say this morning “It’s a Wonderful Life! “

  2. You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I live, for I, the Lord , live among the people of Israel.’ ”
    Numbers 35:34 AMP
Now we may think that ‘I haven’t murdered anyone!’ But what is being said against your own brothers and sisters in the church? Could it be that we are lacking and hindering a move of THE LORD in our midst because what we are speaking? Stop polluting and defiling what The LORD has already given us and promised POFW.

“You have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘Y ou shall not murder ,’ and ‘Whoever murders shall be guilty before the court.’ But I say to you that everyone who continues to be angry with his brother or harbors malice against him shall be guilty before the court; and whoever speaks [contemptuously and insultingly] to his brother, ‘Raca (You empty-headed idiot)!’ shall be guilty before the supreme court (Sanhedrin); and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of the fiery hell.
    Matthew 5:21‭-‬22 AMP

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
    Proverbs 18:21 AMP

One cannot argue the words of GOD. His word shall stand forever!!!
    Jesus forgive me!
    Search my heart!
That I speak life and not death!

  3. 34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the Lord dwell among the children of Israel.

When we let worldly things creep in we defile our temple, our land, our possession. In doing this we defile the places that the lord dwells. He is in us, and when we let the “slayers” ,things that are not quite so holy, in we muck the place up. God is pure and clean and good, and he likes us to be that way as well.

Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established. Proverbs 24:1-3

  4. Verses 26-28 AMP “But if at any time the one guilty of manslaughter comes outside the border of his city of refuge to which he fled, and the blood avenger finds him outside the border of his city of refuge and kills the offender, the blood avenger will not be guilty of murder, because the offender should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the high priest’s death the offender shall return to the land of his possession.” If you leave your secured place, that is a choice that you make! Heed the warnings and remain in the security of the place you have been given, within your borders. For if you leave, you are not only rejecting your protection; but, the Creator of that security as verse 34 AMP says “You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I live, for I, the Lord, live among the people of Israel.’”

  5. Numbers 35:13, & 26-27
    13) And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.

    26) But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;
    27) And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood.

“The Borders Of The City Of His Refuge”
These 6 cities were a place of refuge, a place of safety, and they had borders around them, so that anyone in them would be protected. BUT for anyone going outside the borders, there was no more protection for them.
So, once again, we see borders are put into place for protection.

  6. Numbers 35
    Cities of Refuge
Provision was made for the guilty .
Jesus Christ became our ransom . He is the
Strong tower in which we can run to.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him (Psalm 34:8, NIV).
Guard us Lord that we are not guilty of murder . The word says life and death is in the tongue . Put a guard over us .
By taking refuge in Him we can find safety from this world and the cares of life that can so easily take a hold .

    Proverbs 18:1
    ving Translation
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

In Jesus name thank you for being our refuge in time of trouble yet also help us not to be the cause of a spiritual death by something we would say .

    Psalms 141:3
    International Version
Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.

    I run to You !

    Live Jesus Give Jesus
I am the Innkeeper and must guard every aspect of my life body soul and spirit ….taking refuge within the arms of God

  7. 26 But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

Jesus is our safe refuge, if we leave His borders of refuge we will surely die!!! Stay close to our strong tower, our fast rock, our refuge, and our strength!!! Abide in His presence and we shall be forever SAFE!!!

  8. 32 And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

God always has a way to rectify the situation. The point of the 600 plus rules otherwise had to follow wasn’t just about all the tedious things they were told to do but rather house who handle situations and what to do should something happen and they don’t feel justified. Since day one God has giving us wisdom on situations and the proper way to deal with it. It’s about trusting him and the Holy Ghost whenever and structures on what to do when you have done wrong or you have been wronged

  9. 6. And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

    2 Samuel 22:
    2. And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

    3. The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

    4. I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

  10. 13 And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.

The Lord is our refuge. We can run to him when we get in trouble. There is no problem too big for God to handle. I realized a long time ago that if I put my trust in him, he will fight my battles. He holds all power in his hand and he is the one and only true God.

  11. This will ensure that the land where you live will not be polluted, for murder pollutes the land. And no sacrifice except the execution of the murderer can purify the land from murder. You must not defile the land where you live, for I live there myself. I am the Lord , who lives among the people of Israel.”
    Numbers 35:33‭-‬34 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/num.35.33-34.NLT

A sacrifice has to be made to purify from sin. When we sin and separate ourselves from God there’s always a sacrifice that has to be made. We must die to ourselves in prayer in confession and repentance.

  12. 35:34 defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit wherein I dwell, for I the Lord dwell among the children of Israel.
    ——-
    Yes, defile not!
    I repent
    I seek the Lord
    I walk in righteousness.
    I protect my heart.
I DO THE RIGHT THING everywhere.
In Jesus name.through His Holy Spirit.

  13. 14 Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.
now remember that Canaan is the promised land and so god meant for the cities to be places of refuge. this brought my attention and made me think that god will go out of his way to gather what he needs to save the refuges and lost.

  14. Six of the towns you give the Levites will be cities of refuge, where a person who has accidentally killed someone can flee for safety. In addition, give them forty-two other towns.
    Numbers 35:6 NLT

An opportunity at redemption. We serve a just God who graciously allows us a chance to be delivered and redeemed. There is always a chance if we are prayerful and obedient in our return to Him. He loves His children and desires relationship. When all seems lost, return to the Father – His arms are open wide.

  15. 33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

  16. 26 But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

A Place of Refuge – The Church
The Lord has provided a place where all our sins, regardless of what they are, are released from our lives through the birth of water baptism in Jesus name. As long as we stay in the church, that blood covers us and those sins that have been repented of are forever forgotten by the Lord.

Everyday we have an advocate with Jesus that if we unwillfully sin, we can ask repentance and be forgiven. Every time we participate in foot washing, it is a symbol of being re-baptized all over again, and that same blood washes over us and cleanses us ever whit whole.

However, if we turn our back on the Lord, leave that place of refuge and forgiveness, then we are no longer protected and covered by that blood. At that point, whatever we do is upon our own shoulders. We have went outside the walls of that “city of refuge” and we must take responsibility for what we do.

  17. 8 And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

9 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

    10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

12 And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.

Thank you Lord for your refuge; that we can approach the throne of God and seek him… And that we don’t have to wait to an appointed time of year to ask for mercy and grace!

  18. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    LIVE IN REFUGE

28 Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

The principal application here is Mercy in a place of GRACE. We have not all murdered someone, but we have all sinned and deserve the painful punishment of the LORD. The GRACE and Mercy of GOD dwell in the land or place of refuge. For us this is the CHRUCH.

    The psalmist declared:
Psalm 142:5 I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

    The prophet declared:
Jeremiah 16:19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

We can identify the place of REFUGE by this ONE immutable fact:
34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the Lord dwell among the children of Israel.

    The LORD lives there!

The House of GOD, The CHURCH is our REFUGE from the avenger of sin. We must remain in the city of REFUGE to stay the avenger. Walking in the GRACE and LOVE of GOD is how we are enabled to thrive as we LIVE JESUS and from the abundance of the overflow of JESUS we are able to GIVE JESUS to those in need.

Stay in the CHURCH! Stay close to the CHURCH! Stay involved in the CHURCH!

  19. 33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the Lord dwell among the children of Israel.

Avts 17: 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

God is with us, among us, whether we take notice of his presence or not. So when we begin our day, we should feel for him, seek him and sense him near us throughout our day. Our day will be so much better knowing he is near.

  20. 26 But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

27 And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood.

Borders can live in them can live-out them.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  21. “30All murderers must be put to death, but only if evidence is presented by more than one witness. No one may be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

31Also, you must never accept a ransom payment for the life of someone judged guilty of murder and subject to execution; murderers must always be put to death.

32And never accept a ransom payment from someone who has fled to a city of refuge, allowing a slayer to return to his property before the death of the high priest.

33This will ensure that the land where you live will not be polluted, for murder pollutes the land. And no sacrifice except the execution of the murderer can purify the land from murder.

34You must not defile the land where you live, for I live there myself. I am the Lord, who lives among the people of Israel.””
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭35:30-34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  22. God gave the Israelites cities of refuge. Today we take refuge in our church. God loves us and knows we are sinners, so with the coverage of blood from Jesus we can be forgiven.

  23. iLove Jesus
Num 35:6  And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

These were the cities of refuge. If someone accidentally killed someone, they would run to a sanctuary city. We all need to run to Jesus y’all. He is our New Testament sanctuary city. We were all worthy of death by He paid that debt and redeemed us from the hand of the devil.

  24. Proverbs 4 Security In Wisdom NKJV

20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in midst of your heart 22 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. 24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. 26 Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. 27 Do not turn to the left or to the right; Remove your foot from evil. Good Scripture Have a God bless day.

  25. “You must not defile the land where you live, for I live there myself. I am the Lord, who lives among the people of Israel.””

    What is integrity?
It’s what you do when no one is looking. We have to remember God is always watching, so how we act and what we listen to and what promote on our own is really how we are. Don’t live for Jesus for anybody else but YOU. Don’t act one way in front of the man of God then act another behind closed doors. Integrity, it’s almost like faith. “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/heb.11.1.nlt
So don’t defile where you live!

  27. “”Six of the towns you give the Levites will be cities to go to for safety. A person who has killed someone can run to one of them. Also give the Levites 42 other towns.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭35:6‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

There’s no place like The Place of Refuge. It’s a place for those that RESPECT the Lord can have all confidence and hope that divine judgment will take place. Lord, thank you for being my hiding place.

“Anyone who shows respect for the Lord has a strong tower. It will be a safe place for his children. Respect for the Lord is like a fountain that gives life. It turns you away from the jaws of death.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭14:26-27‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

“How great your goodness is! You have stored it up for those who have respect for you. While other people watch, you give it to those who run to you for safety. They are safe because you are with them. You hide them from the evil plans of their enemies. In your house you keep them safe from those who bring charges against them.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭31:19-20‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

  28. 30“All murderers must be put to death, but only if evidence is presented by more than one witness. No one may be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

The case for the death penalty. It’s somewhat controversial. But it amazes me, that one side supports the death of an innocent baby, but is against a convicted murderer be put to death. Let’s continue to pray for the innocent.

  29. And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.
7 So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.
8 And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.
We must never forget that God is still the same God that we read about. He is our refuge at all times.

  30. Numbers 35 :34 [Amp] And you shall not defiled the land in which you live , in midst of which I dwell

[Psalms 3: 4] With my voice I cry to the Lord and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. [Selah pause, and calmly think of that] !
[ Psalms 4:3 ] But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself [ And gives distinction to] him who godly [ the man of loving – kindness]. The Lord listens and herds when I call Him. 31. ““Don’t desecrate the land in which you live. I live here, too—I, GOD, live in the same neighborhood with the People of Israel.””

As we are filled with the HG we are filled with Christ and as soon as we go or choose to do something unChrist like we force Him to leave the situation.

As the scripture says “Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?” 2 Cor. 6:14

  32. Numbers 35:1-8)

The cities of the priests and Levites were not only to accommodate them, but to place them, as religious teachers, in several parts of the land. For though the typical service of the tabernacle or temple was only in one place, the preaching of the word of God, and prayer and praise, were not thus confined. These cities were to be given out of each tribe. Each thus made a grateful acknowledgement to God. Each tribe had the benefit of the Levites dwelling amongst them, to teach them the knowledge of the Lord

  33. [2] Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

[17] And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

[25] And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

[33] So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are : for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

    John 19:30 KJV
[30] When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

  34. God is our only safe refuge. Others things look good on the surface but ain’t nobody can do us like Jesus. We have to obey his commandents. We are told not to take another person’s life, thou shall not kill. Stay close to God and keep his commandments. It’s our safe haven.

  35. Waymaker , miracle worker, promise keeper , light in the darkness , that is who you are

You must not defile the land where you live, for I live there myself. I am the Lord , who lives among the people of Israel.”
    Numbers 35:34 NLT

    God don’t play

  36. 15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.

The church is a place of refuge for all. The saint, the sinner, the stranger. I’m grateful that God created a place for you and I to run to when things become complicated. There will be unforeseen thins in life and we are not intentionally trying to hurt or do wrong and God made provision for those time. Thank you Jesus.

  37. 15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.
The Lord is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is our refuge! We can seek him and find our refuge in Him.

  38. 10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;
11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

Many times we get in a hurry because we don’t see things moving as we think that they should, so we leap, without knowing what is on the other side of the bush.

Jesus told them when they get there, then do this. Just imagine what would have happened if they had done and never made it there..

  39. 6 And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

The church is the place of refuge where people can run to. It should be a safe place where all are accepted.

  40. 29 So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.

31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

  41. “If the victim’s relatives think it was murder, they might try to take revenge. Anyone accused of murder can run to one of these Safe Towns for protection and not be killed before a trial is held.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭35:12‬ ‭CEV‬‬
The cities of refuge were so important to those being accused of murder because it gave them a chance to at least have a case put together before they could be accused of such actions.
When did the church stop being a city of refuge? How many times have we allowed people to walk through the doors of any church without presuming who they were, why they were there, or what they have done before hearing them out or proving their innocence. Let’s stop labeling people as they walk through our doors and welcome them with friendship and compassion. Let them have a chance to prove their innocence before spiritually being put to death based on our presumptions.

  42. The city of Refuge

This is the place where you are welcome even when you have fallen short of messed up. This is the call of the church, to be that refuge for the sinner. When a sinner comes in they need to be met with open arms and not judgment. We have to love and teach them through their shortcomings and help them to get back in their spiritual feet. The refuge is a place to rest and grow, a place to cherish and grow. Let us all be a refuge to one another individually and our church as a whole

  43. Verse 14-
3 cities here and 3 cities there
There were 6 cities they were given to be cities of refuge. 3 on this side of Jordan and 3 on that side of Jordan. This is so no mater where you were in your physical location you could run to a place of refuge. This is still something shown today, only they are places within cities. There are churches of the Living God, Jesus, all over where people can run and take refuge from the worries and sin of life so they can continue living. These God ordained churches are places where people can heal before their mighty God before returning to wherever they came from to bring someone back to safety with them.
