Numbers 36

And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:

And they said, The Lord commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.

And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.

And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.

And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the Lord, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well.

This is the thing which the Lord doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.

So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.

Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.

10 Even as the Lord commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:

11 For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their fathers brothers’ sons:

12 And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

13 These are the commandments and the judgments, which the Lordcommanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

  1. Again my God is a God of order. He shows it by making sure everything was done correctly. I am impressed that He even allowed the women to receive their inheritance. Now, I know they married within the tribe so the land stayed in the tribe; if they married outside the tribe the women lost their land. So, marrying in the tribe they were allowed to keep their inheritance. I am so happy to be drafted into this family tree and can’t wait to see my heavenly mansion in the promise land of Heaven. Thank you Jesus for giving me your inheritance through my death of baptism in Jesus Name!!! What a joyful day! Merry Christmas and don’t forget to honor and glorify Emmanuel God with us!!!! Let Him reign in your lives FOREVER!!!

    OK

  3. Even when looking at the children of Israel with the inheritance of the blessing of God, it was commanded to be place from one person to the next in the specific tribe in which they were a part of. This was so that the inheritance did not move from tribe to tribe in which is was given. When the daughters of Zelophehad they were to marry within their own tribe to maintain the inheritance. As the commandment of the Lord was spoken they obeyed.

This is just like each of us within the kingdom of God, we have passed this knowledge and wisdom of the principles and practices of the kingdom of God down to our children. I’m only first generation Apostolic, but my kids are fourth generation Apostolic. They have been shown how and why we serve God. I just hope that following the word of God will allow them to not depart from this gospel when they are ready with their own children. It is special to see them growing us living God. That is how we live Jesus to give Jesus with in our own homes and families.

  4. 7 So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

This reminds me of a song we use to sing…
What God has for me, it is for me
What God has for me, it is for me
I know without a doubt, that he will bring me out
What God has for me, it is for me

God has an inheritance for us and nobody can take that away. No matter how hard the enemy may try, he doesn’t have the powers to take what God has instore for you. Only way for you to miss it, is for you to forfeit your inheritance. When a team forfeits, the victory is automatically given to the opposing team. So don’t forfeit what God has for you. Hold on to it with everything you have and you shall receive your reward.

  5. In verse 1 in the AMP, we read where the leaders of the fathers’ households of the family of the sons of Gilead, came before Moses and the leaders with their concerns. They could have caused chaos, division and confusion amongst everyone; but, instead they brought their concerns before the Lord by bringing it to Moses and the leaders. Verse 5 says “Then Moses commanded the Israelites in accordance with the word of the Lord, saying, “The statement of the tribe of the sons of Joseph is correct.” The man of God brought the response in accordance with the word of the Lord. As Pastor says “Where is that in the Book”??? It all goes back to bringing everything before your altar to get direction from the Lord and not cause harm to the body. Merry Christmas POFW!

  6. 8 And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.
9 Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.

We have a saying here in America that’s called first world problems. It basically means that the issues that we have but no one else seems to have in countries seemingly having bigger issues. One of the biggest problems that people have especially in today’s society is focusing on what others have rather than one they personally have. Well God is no respecter of persons he gives each and heritance and blessing according to his desire to bless him and what many people who are miserable fail the see is that each blessing that meant for them because they’re too busy worrying about what other people have or looking at the things that they don’t. We live in a time where we have more blessings than what we think.

  7. God is our father and our caretaker and what a wonderful job he does. We are taught diligence and order with so much love. What a great God we serve!

  8. Numbers 36
An Inheritance is so important. The rules given here is about the women making a wise choice in marriage. so the inheritance will not be lost.
So many young women and old are in such a hurry to be with someone they do not consider every aspect of marriage. To lose the inheritance of the promised land that had just been divided out to them .
We must take into consideration that our Heavenly Father has the perfect plan We cannot allow anything ,anyone to steal the inheritance God has for us. Hold tight to your faith . Hold tight to the commandments. When men and women both look outside the church for marriage it is not the safest place. Stay within the body of Christ your inheritance is much more important than the fulfillment of a desire for companionship. God has not forgotten you. Marriage is already a challenge and if you start dabbling into someone of other faith and beliefs you are setting yourself up for trouble. Has it worked ? Ca it work ? It has . It can but what about those that have not . One is the saddest statements o heard was from a young minister who said had I known after he had said his vows ……sometime later realizing the woman he had married had no intention of supporting his calling . Women too have sadly said but I thought he was a Christian. Or I know he loves God or I can win him. Sadly again many have either ended up divorced or live in a marriage unhappy due to the choice made. Keep within the clan God’s clan that’s all the command said so that you may maintain your inheritance……

  9. Expect 36:5-7
And they spake unto Moses saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the Lord commanded to make. And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man or woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing. For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.

A rare example and notable to see the people so ready to serve God with their goods.

    2 Corinthians 8:2,3 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;

  10. 10 Even as the Lord commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:

11 For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their fathers brothers’ sons:

12 And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

Chapters later these ladies are mentioned again. They stood by the Word of God and the instruction of their pastor and wanted to honor their father. Their efforts and bravery to stand up and be counted we’re so recognized by God that in these last chapters when it came to assigning lots and inheritance even with all of the men they are the only ones who are mentioned by name. It takes a lot of courage for the culture in those days for a woman to have The bravery to stand up to petition for something. God saw their heart and bless them so their inheritance was able to stay within their own tribe. God sees our hearts and our efforts to honor Him and He will bless us if we put Him first and remain faithful.

  11. They treasured their inheritance and wanted to ensure that it remained with their tribe and now given to another tribe.

Do we treasure the “inheritance” of truth in our lives this much? Are we willing to do whatever is necessary to ensure that truth is passed on to our children and grandchildren untarnished, in tact and with the same reverence and fear of the Lord that these people had for their inheritance?

We must protect our Godly inheritance at all cost.

  12. 9 Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.

We each have an inheritance of God that cannot be taken away. We may move away from it temporarily but when we come back to him, it is there waiting for us! Praise God his promises are sure.

  13. iLove Jesus
11 For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their fathers brothers’ sons:

As I read this I was like “wow, I never realized the Children of Israel were supposed to marry within their own tribe. This was designed to preserve each tribe and ultimately prepare the way for Jesus to come from the tribe of Judah.

  14. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
    Proverbs 25:28 KJV

Drink, eat, and sleep Jesus. 😆 but for real tho!

  15. We all have possessions that were given to you some of them are inheritance from your father’s or they are blessings from God. Our blessings and inheritances cannot be taken away or removed from, because it will always be there for you.

  16. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    PROTECT YOUR INHERITANCE

7 So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

GOD has already designated our inheritance just as HE did for the children of Israel.

Rom. 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Gal. 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The apostle Paul had great understanding in this area. Confirming in fact that the church that loves JESUS to Live and Give JESUS will in fact receive INHERITANCE that belongs to JESUS. The apostle James congfirms in his letter.

James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

Therefore we must PROTECT our INHERITANCE to LIVE JESUS forever.

  17. Numbers 36:10-12
    10) Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:
    11) For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father’s brothers’ sons:
    12) And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their fathers.

“Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad”
When we walk in OBEDIENCE to God’s Word, everything will work out okay.

  18. And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:

4 And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.

5 And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the Lord, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well.

  19. ♥️ This is the thing, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

    Matthew 6:33
[33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

    Numbers 36
[6] This is the thing which the Lord doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.

    Matthew 6:19-21 KJV
[19] Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Inheritance is the practice of passing on property, titles, debts, rights, and obligations upon the death of an individual. The rules of inheritance differ among societies and have changed over time.

    Colossians 3:24 KJV
[24] Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

    Hebrews 11:7-10 KJV
[7] By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. [8] By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. [9] By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: [10] For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

  20. 36:31 these are the commandments and the judgements , which the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses, unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.
——-let’s purpose in our hearts to do them too. The word of God does not change. He does not change. !!
Lord help me through your Holy Spirit to be obedient to you word daily.

  21. Numbers 36 : 13 [ Amp] These are the commandments and ordinances which the Lord commanded the Israelites through Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan [ River] at Jericho.
James 2:5 [Amp] Listen , My beloved brethren Had not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and in their position as believers and to inherit the kingdom which He has promised to those who love Him? God and his word does not change. Protect your inheritance and your promise from the Lord. In Jesus name.
    Merry Christmas Pofw!

  22. The Israelites must marry in their tribe. They receive inheritance from God. To receive our blessings we must do right by God. Stay in church, pray, be faithful to God and continue reading God’s word.

Merry Christmas to my P.O.F. W. family. !

  23. “This is what the LORD commands regarding the daughters of Zelophehad: ‘Let them marry whom they wish; only they must marry within the family of the tribe of their father.’ So no inheritance of the Israelites shall be transferred from tribe to tribe, for every one of the Israelites shall hold to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers (tribal ancestors). Every daughter who possesses an inheritance [of land] in any one of the tribes of the Israelites shall marry [only] a man whose family is of her father’s tribe, so that the Israelites may each possess the inheritance of his fathers (tribal ancestors). So no inheritance shall be transferred from one tribe to another, but each of the tribes of the Israelites shall hold to its own inheritance.””
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭36:6-9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Thankful that when we need direction we can go to the Lord. There isn’t any problem God Can’t handle. He is full of wisdom and can lead and guide through any situation.

  24. “The daughters of Zelophehad did as the Lord commanded Moses.

They married into the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. Thus, their inheritance of land remained within their ancestral tribe.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭36:10, 12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    There’s blessing in obedience!

  25. The heads of the ancestral clan of Gilead son of Makir, the son of Manasseh—they were from the clans of the descendants of Joseph—approached Moses and the leaders who were heads of the families in the People of Israel.

2-4 They said, “When God commanded my master to hand over the inheritance-lands by lot to the People of Israel, my master was also commanded by God to hand over the inheritance-land of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters. But what happens if they marry into another tribe in the People of Israel? Their inheritance-land will be taken out of our ancestral tribe and get added into the tribe into which they married. And then when the year of Jubilee comes for the People of Israel their inheritance will be lumped in with the inheritance of the tribe into which they married—their land will be removed from our ancestors’ inheritance!”

  26. Numbers 36:1-4

heads of the tribe of Manasseh represent the evil which might follow, if the daughters of Zelophehad should marry into any other tribes. They sought to preserve the Divine appointment of inheritances, and that contests and quarrels should not rise among those who should come afterwards. It is the wisdom and duty of those who have estates in the world, to settle them, and to dispose of them, so that no strife and contention may arise.

  27. Numbers 36:1-4

The heads of the tribe of Manasseh represent the evil which might follow, if the daughters of Zelophehad should marry into any other tribes. They sought to preserve the Divine appointment of inheritances, and that contests and quarrels should not rise among those who should come afterwards. It is the wisdom and duty of those who have estates in the world, to settle them, and to dispose of them, so that no strife and contention may arise.

  28. 12 And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

Here we see a example of the importance of obedience and who we connect with and marry is important. If they marry outside of the boundaries they would not revive the promised inheritance. Thanks be to God that we have the opportunity to chose who we connect with yet it comes with the responsibility of making a well educated and spiritually influenced choice.

  29. Proverbs 25 Further wise sayings of Solomon

21 If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; 22 For so you will heap coals of fire on his head, And the lord will reward you. Good Scripture and Merry Christmas Have a God blessed day.

  30. 7 So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

It can be that your choices can cause you to loose your inheritance. It matters who you connect and have a relationship with. It matters who you marry and it matters what you are called to do. Be wise, and seek counsel, let God guide you to the fulfillment of every promise.

  31. The Bible is full of references to the inheritance believers have in Christ. Ephesians 1:11 says, “In [Christ] we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will” (ESV). Other passages that mention a believer’s inheritance include Colossians 3:24 and Hebrews 9:15. Our inheritance is, in a word, heaven. It is the sum total of all God has promised us in salvation. First Peter 1:4 describes this inheritance further, saying that we have been born again “into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. Those who have been born again are born “not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23). As God’s children, “adopted” into His family, we have been assured an inheritance from our Heavenly Father.   This heavenly heritage is God’s purpose and will for us (Ephesians 1:11). We receive the promise of our inheritance by hearing the word of truth and believing in Christ (Ephesians 1:13).

  32. 10 Even as the Lord commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:
11 For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their fathers brothers’ sons:
12 And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.
13 These are the commandments and the judgments, which the Lordcommanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

There is instruction for every stage we go though our life. Following Gods instructions for our lives is key, obedience is everything.

  33. 1 And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:

2 And they said, The Lord commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.

3 And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.

  34. Kissing cousins

These daughters were instructed to marry their cousins. Applying this spiritually it would make more since. We have to stay rooted in the church, don’t look for a wife outside the church. Marry within the blessing and be equally yoked.

  35. “This is what the Lord commands for Zelophehad’s daughters: They may marry anyone they please as long as they marry within their father’s tribal clan.

Every daughter who inherits land in any Israelite tribe must marry someone in her father’s tribal clan, so that every Israelite will possess the inheritance of their ancestors.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭36:6, 8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Taking it just a step further…. what we’ve learned in our walk with God and from observing our parents is absolutely precious so it is absolutely important to marry someone who believes as we do about oneness, standards and biblical principals. It’s when you decide to marry outside of “God’s family” that you risk losing your inheritance and ultimately the inheritance of your children. Are you willing to lose your inheritance over “love?”

  36. God doesn’t dwell in confusion. When we seek for wisdom and understanding He gives it freely! I thank God for His knowledge, wisdom, and understanding He continues to provide to us!

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
    James 1:5 KJV

  37. 7 So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

“God’s got a blessing with my name on it.”
Protect your blessings and don’t take them for granted. God placed your name on your blessings for you to not only be blessed, but for you to use those blessings to further His Kingdom and to bless others.

  38. 9No grant of land may pass from one tribe to another; each tribe of Israel must keep its allotted portion of land.”

There is a process for everything. There has to be or there will be chaos. Be obedient in everything and all will go well.

  39. 6. This is the thing which the Lord doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.

We strongly encourage our children to marry within our Heavenly Father’s “tribe” to protect our inheritance and their future.

    2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
