Deuteronomy 1

These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

(There are eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadeshbarnea.)

And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the Lord had given him in commandment unto them;

After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:

On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,

The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:

10 The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

11 (The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

12 How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

13 Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.

14 And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.

15 So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

16 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

18 And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.

19 And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the Lord our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.

20 And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the Lord our God doth give unto us.

21 Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

22 And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

23 And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:

24 And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the Lord our God doth give us.

26 Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God:

27 And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the Lord hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

29 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.

30 The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God,

33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

34 And the Lord heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,

35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers.

36 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the Lord.

37 Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.

38 But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

39 Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

40 But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

41 Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord, we will go up and fight, according to all that the Lord our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

42 And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them. Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

45 And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

46 So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

  1. 41Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill. 42And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. 43So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill. 44And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah. 45And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you. 46So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

This is a classic example of the humanistic mind-frame that simply rebels against the word of the Lord. When we make up our minds and are set in our ways, we end up into a foolish position and we pay dearly. Sometimes our stubbornness and hard-headed ways angers god. We have to heed the voice of God and allow Him to order our steps and guide us through every pathway to our blessings and promises. We have to realize that we can not just do as we please or there will surely be consequences.

In this day we are living, it’s more important to follow God than to be influenced by the world. We have to strive to be ready when Jesus returns for His bride. We have to be the example for those that have not known God, scripture reminds us to go into the hiways and the biways to compel them to come into the house of God. If we don’t listen to the word of God, then we will surely miss our reward. Live Jesus that we may give Jesus.

  2. Deut 1: 37 -38 [Amp] The Lord was angry with me also for your sakes, and said, Yes,also shall not enter Canaan.
[38] But Joshua son of Nun, who stands before you, He shall enter there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
Do what God tells you to do and obey him. Claim your inheritance and use it . In Jesus name.

  3. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    POWERFUL PREACHING

1 These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

MSG 1-2 These are the sermons Moses preached to all Israel when they were east of the Jordan River in the Arabah Wilderness, opposite Suph, in the vicinity of Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab. It takes eleven days to travel from Horeb to Kadesh Barnea following the Mount Seir route.

I am often inspired by the memory of sermons past. Many more I have been recipient of than I have personally preached. Nevertheless I have and we as a church in our 17 year history have heard some POWERFUL PREACHING that if we take a moment to remember; have held some powerfully prophetic words of HOPE, FAITH and LOVE.

The short trip down memory land here by Moses to Israel proves to be a reminder of the goodness of GOD and all of the opportunities that GOD has afforded them/us to LIVE for HIM and GIVE HIM Glory as we GIVE HIM to others.

We are witness here in this chapter to the great value and strong importance to heed the preaching we hear. What perils could have been bypassed, pain avoided and destiny’s attained if they had simply heeded the Sermons preached. May JESUS reveal to us today the value of the sermons we have been Blessed to receive at The POFW and may JESUS guide us to our eternal promise and inheritance in HIM.

  4. 39 Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

  5. 28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

Am I an encourager or a discourager? Do I speak against the faith someone is exhibiting because they believe a promise from the Lord? Am I encouraging new believers, others, my family to do go by exampling to them prayer, reading the word, worship, praise, faithfulness in giving time, talent and treasure?

It is real east to sow a seed of doubt or discouragement in someone’s life. It’s time we take 3 seconds and evaluate what we are going to say in response to things. Let’s build faith in people, building up their faith in God and see what God will do instead of tear down their faith. We must not let someone stand alone in faith, but together encourage them to believe for their promises and rejoice with them when they receive it!

  6. 32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God,

It is easy to forget where GOD has brought us out of or what GOD has done for us , especially when certain situations arise…..GOD IS GOOD!!!

  7. What a great God we serve. Four hundred years is a long time! So now it’s time for change. Were the people ready? I would think some were and some were not. Are we ready for change? God changes not! Our situations change and we should be wrapped up in the word of God and speaking with him daily so we know what to do when life throws us in a different direction.

  8. 43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.
44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.
45 And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

I love how the word of God has recounts of the same story more than once. Normally we read about what happened and then later on someone will retell the story with the lesson involved. After Paul was converted on his way to Damascus he told that story to the churches that he started in his letters. Science indicates that the more we hear something the more we’re able to remember it. The church must not forget its journey with God. It must continue to cherish the things that God brings us through every deliverance and healing to every trial that we face. That is all a part of becoming more like Christ. Learning from each lesson that he gives us I’m counting every blessing that we have.

  9. 29-33 I tried to relieve your fears: “Don’t be terrified of them. God, your God, is leading the way; he’s fighting for you. You saw with your own eyes what he did for you in Egypt; you saw what he did in the wilderness, how God, your God, carried you as a father carries his child, carried you the whole way until you arrived here. But now that you’re here, you won’t trust God, your God—this same God who goes ahead of you in your travels to scout out a place to pitch camp, a fire by night and a cloud by day to show you the way to go.”

It seems so easy in the Bible. People put their trust in God, and He rewards them by doing something miraculous in their lives. Why, then, is it sometimes so difficult for us to put our full trust in God? We put our trust in lesser things every day, including weather forecasts and news sources—not to mention the online retailers and social media sites that promise to safeguard our personal information. So why can’t we extend the same trust to God?

We are not alone in this struggle. Mark 9:23-24 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

  10. The LORD your God
    The LORD our God
    The LORD thy God
    The LORD God

[11] (The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are , and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

[17] Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.

    [30] The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

[31] And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

💛 33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in , in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

[44] And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

  11. Renewal of God’s covenant and Moses’ call to obedience, as evident in
Deuteronomy 4:1,6 Now therefore hearken, O Israel unto the statutes and unto the judgments , which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers giveth you.
.6 keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

Be obedient and keep God’s commandments/statutes and you will have “A Wonderful Life “

  12. 0 The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, 31 and in the wilderness. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.”

32 In spite of this, you did not trust in the Lord your God, 33 who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go.

Then you replied, “We have sinned against the Lord. We will go up and fight, as the Lord our God commanded us.” So every one of you put on his weapons, thinking it easy to go up into the hill country.

42 But the Lord said to me, “Tell them, ‘Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.’”

43 So I told you, but you would not listen. You rebelled against the Lord’s command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country.

. 45 You came back and wept before the Lord, but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you.

    New Living Translation
The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

    BUT
I fear for those who have become slack in their walk for God. God is calling and it is time to answer the call. God’s Will ? Salvation and working for the kingdom . Some say I must pray about doing that or God has not told me to do that ….somewhere I’ve missed something . The children of Israel were given commandments. Serve the Lord with all thine heart .
God has already said do it. Why not live in the will of God salvation and reaching the world .
    Acts 2:38 and Matthew 28:19
Live Give Israel wondered around when they already had it all. They trusted God their salvation but then when it was time to give they rebelled or did their own thing . Then they would come running back crying . Repetitive ! One minute trusting God theGod who has fed them led them delivered them . They couldn’t get anywhere for the very reason they would not listen. Just listen for a moment . Quit doing it your way. God has already given the instructions. NO WONDER GOD BECAME FRUSTRATED It’s time to quit running back and forth from not serving to serving from not listening to the voice of God there is coming a day when God will turn a deaf ear and say now it’s my time not to listen ….

Deuteronomy .45 You came back and wept before the Lord, but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you.

    Live Jesus Acts 2:38

Don’t be like the Israelites you may wonder for 40 years in the wilderness and finally set up a camp and still be lost ……
    Search me daily God ……

  13. 21 Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

22 And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

  14. the Isrealites put their trust in god, but it was hard for them to keep their trust in god because their sin kept leading them into the hands of different kingdoms with different religion and so the isrealites was distracted from god

  15. This is why it’s important to obey and not rebel against God. What God wanted you to have it could go to someone else. God wants to bless you he’s like a GOOD father he wants to reward you but if you disobey he has to puinsh you.

  16. This year is about to be over.
Let us think about 2019 , recognize the wrongs and the things we conquered.
Let us thank God for everything. And learned from our mistakes and let us press forward the goal.
Walking in faith, obedience and victorious.

  17. The Lord your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt.
    Deuteronomy 1:30 NLT

It’s true if we’ll just believe it. The children of Israel just couldn’t believe it, much negativity, doubt, and ungratefulness kept them stuck wandering the wilderness. If you can’t find your way out of a mess, maybe check your attitude and faithfulness to God because if we truly believe in Him and His power, He will fight for us and lead us to victory!

  18. iLove Jesus
42 And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them. Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

We all need to learn how to listen the first time. It’s not really that easy to be honest, but it is the best route. God will allow us to walk circles in the wilderness for 40 years if that’s what we choose to do. They even tried to repent and lead an attack, but it was too late.

  19. 36 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the Lord.

“. . . because he hath wholly followed the Lord.” By WHOLLY following the Lord you can see the promises of God. He will give you so much and take care of you as long as you WHOLLY following him.

37 Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.
38 But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

Why would Joshua needed encouraged after all of these years? In forty years so much has happened all of his friends and colleagues have died and passed away and Caleb and he are only left. He is promised to go into the Promise land yet Moses says to encourage Joshua.

39 Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

Those that we defend and want to cover then sometimes are the ones that get to fulfill the prophecy. Because we don’t believe, God will pass it onto those that will believe.

  20. Moses is recounting all that has happened the last time they came to inherit the land. He is reminding them of the cost of disobedience and blessings and rewards of faith and ovedience; all for their benefit to move forward and trust in God as they fight to possess the land. He is building their faith as well. Now is the time to jump in and be led by faith and not by sight. Especially for today-we must walk by faith, trusting in His promises.

  21. Deuteronomy 1:11 (The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised!)

I thought of this scripture as a beautiful word over the POFW church.

  22. ““But the Lord told me to tell you, ‘Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies.’ “This is what I told you, but you would not listen. Instead, you again rebelled against the Lord’s command and arrogantly went into the hill country to fight. But the Amorites who lived there came out against you like a swarm of bees. They chased and battered you all the way from Seir to Hormah.”

If you ever been ignorant enough to go ahead and do something the Lord said not to, or you did not seek council for then you know that it never works. There’s a reason the Bible says there’s safety in council. When you have someone else seeking God with you and then you both come to the table and ask “ok, what do you feel from God” if you both bring the same thing then what do you think that means. But if you just do it your chances of failing are extremely high. This is why you should always go to your pastor before making any major decisions. Always seek ye first the Kingdom.

  23. Deuteronomy 1:8
Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto them and to their seed after them. 10 The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God, 33 who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye shold go, and in a cloud by day.

42 and the Lord said unto me, say unto them. Go not up neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. 43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord and went presumptuously up into the hill.

God had done so much to bless the Israelites by blessing them with land and a multitude of heirs. The people did not believe the Lord even after all God had done for them and when they went up the hill many died. If you want blessings we must follow God and do what he asks us to do.

  24. Deuteronomio 1

  25. 9 Moses continued, “At that time I told you, ‘You are too great a burden for me to carry all by myself.

When the burdens are too much, call on someone and ask for advice. If your married, ask your spouse. Above all, pray and ask God for guidance. Give your burdens to God to take care of.

Psalm 55:22 Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

  26. 32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God,

Unbelief can keep you from seeing the great wonders of God. And it can also keep you from going to possess your promise. If God has done before he can do the impossible again.

  27. 30 The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

What else do we need!!!! God has done ALL!!! He gave His last drop of Blood for our salvation and gave us the VICTORY!!!

  28. “It is [only] eleven days’ journey from Horeb (Mount Sinai) by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea [on Canaan’s border; yet Israel wandered in the wilderness for forty years before crossing the border and entering Canaan, the promised land].”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This verse makes me wonder how many times we’ve done this in our lives? Something that’s suppose to be 11 days journey last a lifetime. There are things in our lives or that happens in our lives that are meant to be temporary (11 days) that we turn them into a life term (40 years). It’s a journey not your destiny or destination.

  29. Remember the journey.
There are times in our lives that we question where we’re at, why we’re here what we’re doing all this for and why should we keep going. That’s when we have to remember the journey. Not just from where God brought us from but everything he’s brought us through. When we thought we were alone, I felt like giving up, when we felt like the whole world was against us God never failed us, he never gave up on us, he was always there! He always will be there! He is our promise oh, he’s our identity, he’s our future oh, he’s our eternity!! My God is awesome he’s moved mountains, he’s kept me in the valley, he’s hid me from the rain. but I think it’s important for us to remember the journey and respect the journey because the journey is just a setup for what God is having a step into. The journey is preparation for the promise!! Hallelujah hallelujah! God you are Mighty!

  30. Then I said to you, “Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the wilderness. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go.
    Deuteronomy 1:29‭-‬31‭,NIV
Always trust in the Lord your God never doubt him always believe in his word he will never forsake you always put your faith in him “God will Never leave us we are the ones who leave him we are the ones who

Just like the people of Israel I am reminded that we too can have a major setback in our walk with God. There are times when we too are not persuaded enough by Gods love for us, our unbelief can often hinder us from moving into the next thing God has planned for us. I pray that I can help be a stepping stone for those that need to be reminded of of GODS for them. Lord help us to remember that YOU are the ONE that goes before us. Help us to work together and help keep each other accountable in our belief in YOU.

  32. Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it. But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea. Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord , we will go up and fight, according to all that the Lord our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill. And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
    Deuteronomy 1:39‭-‬42 KJV
God will not forsake you, He will not give up on you, don’t doubt Him He will keep his word. “God doesn’t forsake us, He never leaves us we are the ones who leave Him”.

  34. Deuteronomy 1

places the new nation of the Israelites at the edge of the Promised Land.

God is about to fulfill the promises made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob back in Genesis, when he promised them innumerable offspring and a ton of land. … (In Exodus, we’re told that there are hundreds of thousands of Israelites.

Moses tells the Israelites to continue on and take the land God has provided for them. God has been with them, and has multiplied them like the stars of heaven.

Moses advised that they take wise men with understanding, known in their tribes and make them rulers over them as he prepares to depart. Moses reiterates to their rulers that he has taught that they should not have respect of persons in judgment.

  35. 21 Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

When God has something setup for you, it is as good as yours. Stop trying to find a way to get things that God has already made a way for you to get. Our heavenly father has the power to give us what is needed to make it. He is the way when there seems to be no way.

  36. 43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

The importance of obeying the Lord is priceless. Its worth all the sacrifice. We cant do our own will, then expect God to bless us and fulfill His promises when we never did our part.

  37. Deuteronomy 1 The Message (MSG)

1 1-2 These are the sermons Moses preached to all Israel when they were east of the Jordan River in the Arabah Wilderness, opposite Suph, in the vicinity of Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab. It takes eleven days to travel from Horeb to Kadesh Barnea following the Mount Seir route.

3-4 It was on the first day of the eleventh month of the fortieth year when Moses addressed the People of Israel, telling them everything God had commanded him concerning them. This came after he had defeated Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled from Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who ruled from Ashtaroth in Edrei. It was east of the Jordan in the land of Moab that Moses set out to explain this Revelation.

  38. Deuteronomy 1
    30 The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bare his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

    Hallelujah!!

    Praise God!

  39. 21 Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

“Fear not, neither be discouraged” words of great encouragement for us all. We will all be asked by God to do something that in the moment seems bigger than we are. It is up to us to trust His words. It is up to us to not fear or be discouraged. It’s not us alone but He is with us.

  40. Verse 2 AMP “It is [only] eleven days’ journey from Horeb (Mount Sinai) by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea [on Canaan’s border; yet Israel [b]wandered in the wilderness for forty years before crossing the border and entering Canaan, the promised land].” Their disobedience caused them to wander for forty years, while their obedience could have lead them to ALL enter into their promise. We must be careful and never forget all that the Lord has brought us through. You don’t want to miss entering into your victory because you’ve wondered off and forgotten what the Lord promised you.

  41. 31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God,

Many times we loose sight of our promise, that is coming, because we fail to trust hi to do just as He had said

  42. 11 (The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

  43. Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the Lord .
    Deuteronomy 1:36 KJV

Each of us must have a direct relationship with Jesus. We can’t depend on what our parents did or how we help in the church to solely lead us into eternity with Him. We have to make our relationship personal and walk with Him while doing His will and spreading His word.

  44. “And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill. And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah. And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭1:42-45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Oh disobedience
They didn’t listen when they were told no. They did it anyway. They cried when things didn’t go their way. They were allowed to just keep crying, or they were ignored.

This is something parents do at home all the time with their children. Mom/dad will tell the child no. Child does it anyway. Child is hurt. Parent says, “well I told you no to.”

We still have these type situations today, sometimes the voice is not just the voice of God, but sometimes the voice of the Pastor. We need to make sure that we are listening and obey when we are told yes and no. It will help us stay out of all kinds of trouble.

  45. “The Lord your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt. And you saw how the Lord your God cared for you all along the way as you traveled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child. Now he has brought you to this place.’(‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭1:30-31‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

There’s never a moment in life that God isn’t with us he’s always by our side even when we can’t feel him he’s working even when we can see him he’s working. The Lord loves his children he is a farther to the farther less and a friend to the hopeless.

  46. 3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the Lord had given him in commandment unto them;

Moses went over everything the lord had done for them over the last forty years. Every promise, victories and downfalls. Seeing this made me think over this past year all my promises fullfilled all my victories and yes of course my many downfalls 😆. The growth that ive seen in me and acceptance of my faults so i can improve this coming year. Its been good and bad but i thank Jesus for the lessons for the friendships and the love.

  47. 14. And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.

    Proverbs 12:15
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
