Deuteronomy 2

Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the Lord spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.

And the Lord spake unto me, saying,

Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.

For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

And the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.

12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the Lord gave unto them.

13 Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

14 And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the Lord sware unto them.

15 For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.

16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

17 That the Lord spake unto me, saying,

18 Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:

19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;

21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the Lorddestroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:

22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

27 Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.

28 Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;

29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the Lord our God giveth us.

30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the Lord thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

31 And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

33 And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

35 Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the Lord our God delivered all unto us:

37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the Lord our God forbad us.

  1. 24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

The words of God spoke to the children of Israel who to confront and who not to confront. Basically God was telling them I will deliver them that you will fight to you and those you can not touch, they will remain. We have to realize living for God, God will fight our battles for us. Greater is he that is in me than he that is in this world. For the battle is not ours but Gods. If we heed the instructions of God, then we will receive our rewards.

This is the same God that spoke the very world into existence. It is all about instructions and obedience. We have to find a way to control our emotions and actions so we do not do the wrong things. We need to stand still and let God. It is that simple.

  2. Deut1:7 [Amp] Turn and take up your journey and go to to the hill country of the Amorites, and to all their neighbors in the Arabian, in the hill country, in the lowland, in the South ( the Negeb) , and on the coast, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. Pofw go to the north , South and east and the West for Reviel in our neighborhood.
[ Philippians 4 ; 19 ] And my God will liberally supply ( fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Thank you Jesus.

2 Then we turned back and set out toward the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea,[a] as the Lord had directed me

    Follow The Leader
I believe this game probably originated from the journey of the Israelites.
My mind has gone to many scriptures this morning .
Traveling is not always the easiest thing to do when trying to get to a destination. Each route may be altered or have obstacles that will change the course we must take. For myself I pray that as I look back over my life I too can say as God directed me …..

    I Corinthians 11:1
    New International Version
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

    Moses recollection of his journey.
As the Lord directed me……I believe this was Moses song ……

When I look back over my life
And I think things over I can truly say that I’ve been blessed
    I’ve got a testimony
Sometimes I couldn’t see my way through
But the Lord He brought me out

    Direct my path Lord
    Keep my ways your ways
Allow your peace to flow through every thought knowing that You have each step we take if we will follow the leader ……..

    Isaiah 30:21
21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

    Isaiah 58:11
11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

    The Leaders of the Journey
    And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

    God’s leadership …….As God directed …..
Will we follow we must follow

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path in thee I trust oh Lord …

  4. 30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the Lord thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
33 And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

Just because you have opposition, doesn’t mean it’s not the will of God. So many people give up at the site of any type of restriction or difficulty. When all throughout the Bible we see God sending someone out to do something and then coming against something that would normally take them down. God puts things in our path way just to make us stronger and to show that he is with us and mighty. Glory be to God that he stands with us through all trials of life

  5. 4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

Don’t take anything away from your brother and pay him fairly!!! Is that simple, God knew what He had already given away and from whom they were supposed to take land away. Is the same today, don’t take anything from your brother and always pay them fairly!!!

  6. Deuteronomy 2:7, “For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee: thou hast lacked nothing.”

In all the years of walking through this pilgrim land, God has blessed me, known every step I have taken, has been with me, and I have lacked nothing – He has always supplied my need and taken care of me.

What A MIGHTY GOD We Serve!!
    Thank You JESUS!!

  7. The lesson or instruction given here is to stay in God’s will and follow his instruction. We will encounter obstacles and nonbelievers along the way but stay on the straight and now path God has for us, pray and stay close to him.

  8. 24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

Rise up and do what you know you need to do. this is the day of a new beginning.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  9. 9 And the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.
The Lord reminded them what to do and what not to do.

  10. 5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.
6 Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.

“Meddle not with them. . . “, sometimes we may think we deserve something, not knowing that it has been promised of God to someone else. These young people that want to say “God told me that I’m going to marry so&so!” God didn’t tell you that. They may already be promised to someone else. Sit down and wait on the Lord! “and ye shall also buy water of them for money, . . .” You May court then or date them, or even crush on them for a season, but that doesn’t not mean that that is you end game!

9 And the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.
    10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

I love that this whole time we have been following the story of the Children of Israel, but then God shows light in this chapter of others, the descendants of Esau and the descendants of Lot. God not only takes care of you in your situation but of all of his children. All who believe in Him.

36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the Lord our God delivered all unto us:

  11. 7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

Many times we feel God has forgotten us but He knows exactly where we are… Just as a Shepherd knows the cry of His sheep.

    Even when I can’t see it… You’re working
    Even when I can’t feel it… You’re working
You never stop… You never stop working

  12. “For the LORD your God has blessed you in all that you have done; He has known about your wanderings through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” ’”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We serve the Great I AM! He is whatever you need Him to be. You need a Counselor, Healer, Protector or Father He Is all that and more. The Lord is our provider. The Lord is MY shepherd and I shall not want!

“And He said to them, “When I sent you out without a money belt and [provision] bag and [extra] sandals, did you lack anything?” They answered, “Nothing.””
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭22:35‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  13. The Israelites were instructed city by city. Some lands they were to just pass through, not disturb anything. They would buy their food and drink, be kind and move on. Others lands were given to them to destroy and take the spoil.

There are situations in our lives that we are just going to have to endure, eat of the Word, drink the refreshing of His Spirit to get us through, but we will pass through. There are situations, that we are going to fight and take spoil. We just have to be sensitive to know which season or land are we in. When is it time to fight and when is it time to just pass through the test and keep our mouth and actions silent.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 – To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

  14. 21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the Lorddestroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:
22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

As we journey through our life we may get to a place where giants live, where there are obstacles too great for us to overcome without the help of the Lord. If we are walking in his will, he will make a way through where we may see no way. The obstacles could be there for many reasons, mostly for us to commune with and wait upon him. He is the way maker.

  15. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    MOVE ON

3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

One of the greatest challenges to the Christian Faith is entitlement. Considering all the promises of GOD in HIS WORD it is tempting to assume the attitude of entitlement. We must learn to

    Hunger for HIS Promises
    Possess HIS Blessings
    Humble for Direction

This process is what I see happen in this chapter.

Humble for Direction – Time to MOVE ON
3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

Hunger for HIS Promises – They Hungered only for what GOD said they could possess.
37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the Lord our God forbad us.

Possess HIS Blessings – Enjoy the Obedient Journey
7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

This reminds of the prophetic WORD given us at the “South Campus” on Silver Saddle Rd. The LORD gave us verse 3 when we purchased the land and the building was under construction. We were already preparing to move North, but GOD so clearly and compassionately confirmed our direction. For this reason we call it the “South Campus”.

Now a WORD for some of you that will read this. There is a STRONG word in my spirit today that someone need to “MOVE ON”

You have tarried at this mountain of opposition long enough. Let it GO and MOVE ON in JESUS.

(THIS DOES NOT MEAN TO CHANGE CHURCHES!)

It means “GET OVER” your struggle with what ever it is that you struggle with. Thats your mountain. GOD desires to DELIVER you. So HE can bring you to your PROMISE.

    Have a BLESSED Day.

37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the Lord our God forbad us.

Obedience was paramount in this situation. There was a reason behind why God wanted the Children of Israel to leave certain people and tribes alone and reasons why they could not attack them. We should always focus on obedience even when we think we know what’s best for us. Truly God knows best. He had already given certain land to certain people. The cool thing is this, these people still have their land to this day. Jordan is the modern country of the Ammonites and guess what the name of the capitol of Jordan is…yep, you got it Amman Jordan.

To this day Israel has few allies in the middle east. There is one country in the middle east today who has signed a peace agreement with Israel however, and that country is Jordan. The same country that God told them not to attack

  17. 33 And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

Good will deliver you straight into victory. It’s up to us how much victory we claim. Follow this example and utterly destroy your enemy so there is no turning back – complete victory in Jesus Name!

  18. “For the Lord your God has blessed you in everything you have done. He has watched your every step through this great wilderness. During these forty years, the Lord your God has been with you, and you have lacked nothing.”’”

During those forty years of wandering I can hear all the murmuring and frustration in all their voices towards Moses. The whole time the Lord has his hand upon them. We too are put in wandering situations when all we have to do is look up and he will show us the way, the truth, he is the light that guides our path and sometimes we act like he’s not here. Just open your mouth and speak to God and wait for his response it’ll be a good one I promise. When you’re walking with Jesus you have nothing to worry about, his hand is on you.

  19. 2:3 ye have compasses this mountain long enough
    Turn you north wall.
    ——
( just in case we find ourselves in the same situation) Whatever the reason Could have been for you( me) to be dwelling o. The same mountain . If God says that is it!!
There is nothing, nobody, no devil that can stop Him from doing it. And start a new thing.

  20. 6 If you need food to eat or water to drink, pay them for it. 7 For the LORD your God has blessed you in everything you have done. He has watched your every step through this great wilderness. During these forty years, the LORD your God has been with you, and you have lacked nothing.”

Yes, God will provide. Don’t expect handouts or freebies all the time. Go and earn what you want. Don’t expect others to do a project for no cost jut because they’re friends. God will bless you when you least expect it, it will be Goshen!

  21. 31. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I hav e begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

    Possess:
    Strong’s Definition
A primitive root; to occupy (be driving out previous {tenants} and possessing in their place)

    Mark 3:27 KJVS
No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

First we bind the enemy, then drive him out of the property that he has occupied for far too long, then we can possess what is rightfully ours.

  22. 2:7 For the Lord thy God blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; though hast lacked nothing.

When you walk WITH God the Lord will take care of you. We sometimes are put in situations that seem difficult but it is to help us grow and trust in Jesus.

  23. Deuteronomio 2:1-7

  24. Luke 12:7 KJV
[7] But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

[7] For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

    Genesis 3:9 KJV
[9] And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

    Genesis 3:21-24 KJV
[21] Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22] And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23] Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24] So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

  25. Deuteronomy 2

The children of Israel walked the wilderness for forty years and lacked nothing, Moses reminded them. The Lord also told them not to meddle with the Moabites because God gave Ar to the children of Lot for a possession, just as He is ready to give the Canaanites land to the Israelites.

Esau and Ammon both succeeded the Anakims and Horims respectively to gain possession of their lands and the children of Israel were not to bother them.

However, God began to put the fear and dread of the children of Israel into all the nations round about them. One of the nations that feared greatly were the Amorites, ruled by king Sihon who God hardened his heart to fight and be delivered into the hands of Israel.

  26. Deuteronomy 2:7 The Desert Years

7 For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work in your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing. Have a happy new year and God bless.

  27. Deuteronomy 2

25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

    Hallelujah!!
    Praise God!

  28. “For the Lord your God has blessed you in everything you have done. He has watched your every step through this great wilderness. During these forty years, the Lord your God has been with you, and you have lacked nothing.”’”(‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

We serve a good God that is good all the time. “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”(‭‭Psalms‬ ‭107:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬). The Lord has always been along side us through every up and down that life has to offer us and he’s never lacked anything for us.

  29. “GOD, your God, has blessed you in everything you have done. He has guarded you in your travels through this immense wilderness. For forty years now, GOD, your God, has been right here with you. You haven’t lacked one thing.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭MSG‬‬

It’s encouraging and uplifting to know that even when we are in the wilderness God is right there with us. Even if it’s a wilderness our own disobedience put us there, God loves us enough to be there for it all!

  30. 33 And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

If God delivers someone or something into our hands then it is to be complete. He doesn’t do half way victories. All of the people must be utterly destroyed. When we repent it’s the same way. We have to let all the things that have been unpleasant to God go. We surrender to his will that we can conquer the enemy in his Name. We cannot be friends with the enemy and God. We must chose who we will stand for.

  31. 24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

  32. 19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

Old covenants are not destroyed easy. Well before possessing the territory it was given to Lots people and the covenant was not to he bothered. God is doing a new thing but that doesn’t discontinue the old it should just enlarge it

  33. Verse 7 CEV “The Lord has helped us and taken care of us during the past forty years that we have been in this huge desert. We’ve had everything we needed, and the Lord has blessed us and made us successful in whatever we have done.” Sometimes, we may be going through something; but, the Lord will provide what you need and when you need it.

  34. And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
    Deuteronomy 2:33 KJV

He has always been a faithful God and He will mever change! I thank God for keeping His promises and pray we allow His will to be done in our lives.

  35. 4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

Whatever the Lord has given you it’s yours. Whatever he says/promises for you, its definitely yours. None cant take it away. Rest assured that He will be by your side, yet you must continue to walk by his side.

  36. 31 And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

33 And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

    God said WAIT!
    And WAIT!
    And WAIT!

Until it was there time to possess there land.

We must not be shocked when it is our time to take the land God has given us, that we find it inhabited by someone else.

The other so called Christians have been reaping the spoils for years. Constructing mega churches around us with a watered down gospel.

But when our time comes, we will posses the land and rake the spoils.

  37. 7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

God has poured out blessings, and have known what we go through everyday. He has watched us, guided us, held us, loved us. He is our provider, our protector, he goes before us, he is with us always.
