Deuteronomy 16

Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the Lord thy God: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the passover unto the Lord thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the Lord shall choose to place his name there.

Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.

And there shall be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.

Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which the Lord thy God giveth thee:

But at the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.

And thou shalt roast and eat it in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose: and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.

Six days thou shalt eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to the Lord thy God: thou shalt do no work therein.

Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn.

10 And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the Lord thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the Lord thy God, according as the Lord thy God hath blessed thee:

11 And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

13 Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and thy wine:

14 And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.

15 Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord shall choose: because the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.

16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty:

17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

18 Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.

19 Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

20 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

21 Thou shalt not plant thee a grove of any trees near unto the altar of the Lord thy God, which thou shalt make thee.

22 Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the Lord thy God hateth.

  1. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    ACCOUNTABILITY

17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

ACCOUNTABILITY is what I believer to be one of the most important attributes and lifestyles of the effective believer in JESUS. Personal relationship with JESUS seems to suggest that we have no need of an overseer or a spiritual authority in our lives. However there is repeated occurrences in the WORD of GOD of the practice of ACCOUNTABILITY.

When we hear a WORD from GOD we should always pass it by our Pastor; Spiritual Authority. This simple practice is called ACCOUNTABILITY. We learn here in verse 17 that GOD requires EVERY man to GIVE as he is able according tot he BLESSING of the Lord. ACCOUNTABILITY is the balancing of the account or the summary of the account of the BLESSINGS of GOD in our lives. The purpose of ACCOUNTABILITY is to discern and determine what we can GIVE.

This principal and approach is not limited to our Financial resources only. But also to our Spiritual BLESSINGS.

    NLT
17 All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the Lord your God.

Self examination and personal evaluation will reveal our commitment to LIVE and our readiness to GIVE JESUS.

20 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Sometimes we get caught up in trying live outside our means and trying to keep up with material things. The House of God should be out first priority.

    Mark 8:36
For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his life?

  3. 6 But at the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.

I am thankful that the lord chose to place His Name on my life through the waters of baptism. We must never forget what that name has redeemed us from.
This should cause a continual sacrifice of praise to be on our lips.

There’s an old song that says “when I look back and see where You brought me from, it’s a mighty long way from where I used to be. My soul was lost in sin and misery, but I’m singing this song cause I know where He brought me from’l

We must never forget the debt we owe for the life we have been given through salvation in the name of Jesus

  4. 22 Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the Lord thy God hateth.

WOW! The Lord hates images there certain people that wear their images of gold silver wood bury probably .because they have never taken time to read the word of God pure tradition.

  5. Verses 9-12 MSG “Starting from the day you put the sickle to the ripe grain, count out seven weeks. Celebrate the Feast-of-Weeks to God, your God, by bringing your Freewill-Offering—give as generously as God, your God, has blessed you. Rejoice in the Presence of God, your God: you, your son, your daughter, your servant, your maid, the Levite who lives in your neighborhood, the foreigner, the orphan and widow among you; rejoice at the place God, your God, will set aside to be worshiped. on’t forget that you were once a slave in Egypt. So be diligent in observing these regulations.” We are blessed to be a blessing; so, GIVE Jesus as we have been blessed LIVing for Jesus.

Verse 20 MSG “The right! The right! Pursue only what’s right! It’s the only way you can really live and possess the land that God, your God, is giving you.” We must heed the warnings and not pursue things that will bring you down and defile your home. Remember we want to LIVE-GIVE JESUS.

  6. 20. That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

The just will inherit the Promised Land; the unjust will hear, “Depart from me…”

    Revelation 22:
    11. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

    14. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

  7. Deut. 16:17 [Amp] Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you.
We are going to be accountable for what we do.
Do what right by pleasing the Lord.
Remember what God brought you out of, And now what God has done for you.
    Live for Jesus !

  8. 20 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
We must Live JESUS if we want to Give JESUS. We must remember we are the Salt of the Earth.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matthew 5:13

  9. 16Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty: 17Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.

This is place upon every believer that stands before God, to be accountable for every word, action, and deed. We are going to be held to the same standard that every time we come before God we should not come empty. We are held to accountability by the shepherd in the local assembly, but most of all we are held accountable before God. We have to make sure that we are doing what we are suppose to and making sure the progress of the kingdom of God pushes forward.

It is easy for one to stand accountable before man and God. We let our attitude of humility, our actions of love for God and people, and our obedience to the word of God show above our own self and agenda. We have to allow God to show through us and live Jesus so we can give Jesus to those we are trying to reach before the trumpet sounds. Nothing in this temporary world matters except we do for the kingdom so that we get to our eternal home in glory.

  10. 11 And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

I absolutely love how the Lord set up for them to have a party to rejoice over everything that they’ve been through and to remember where they came from. For them to have great rejoicing in to enjoy the blessings that God has given them. it’s like God is telling them it’s okay to celebrate and to enjoy what you have and to appreciate where you came from, in fact him telling them they need to do it should be a reminder of us all that while we need to continue working for the Lord it’s okay to take a break and enjoy what God has given us and where he’s brought us from.

  11. 17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

God bless us everyday with life, health and the essentials to maintain a family. He continually blesses us, so we must always recognize the author of our daily blessings and give back to the Lord. The word of God tells us that He will continue to bless us and increase our blessings as long as we give and follow his commands. Don’t let the worldly desires prevent us from giving to the Lord what He deserves. “Jesus be the center of our lives”

  12. “Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, so be careful to obey all these decrees.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭16:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/deu.16.12.nlt

Never forget where God delivered you from. A simple walk down memory lane will get you back on track so fast. It’s easy to place your mind back in those places and situations but it’s even easier to fall more in love with Jesus when begin to acknowledge when he brought you out. It doesn’t take me but maybe 5 minutes to be flat on my face thanking and praise God for delivering me. God likes that kind of thing so go ahead and fall more in love with him everyday

  13. “20Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.

21Do not set up any wooden Asherah pole beside the altar you build to the Lord your God, 22 and do not erect a sacred stone, for these the Lord your God hates.”

We must do the rules that the Lord has to give us so that we may live in his kingdom . We cannot set up an altar for false gods for the Lord, our God hates when we worship sacred stones for the Lord tells us that he is a jealous God so this means not to worship no other gods.

  14. 18 Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly.
19 Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the innocent.
20 Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.
    Deuteronomy 16:20 NIV

Do not be blinded by bribes. Do not let them persuade you or convince you to do something that is not right. Do not let bribes take over you. And what you do for God. Always follow God and follow Gods path he has for you. Do not be bribed God has a great future and life for you.

  15. iLove Jesus
Deu 16:19 Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

Why can’t a person “take a gift”? What’s the big deal? Well, in this context “gift” is referring to a bribe. The definition of “bribe” is the following: : a benefit (as money) given, promised, or offered in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person in a position of trust (as an official or witness).

Now I know no-one at The Pentecostals of Fort Worth would offer our Pastor a bribe, but there are some folks (who attend other churches) that pay large sums of money as tithes and offerings and assume because they are a blessing to the church that they should be treated a certain way. They use this “influence” to try to get a foothold in the influence of the church. If they don’t get their way, they threaten to leave the church. This my friends is a perfect example of modern day bribery.

  16. Deuteronomy 16
No one is to show up in the Presence of God empty-handed; each man must bring as much as he can manage, giving generously in response to the blessings of God, your God.

My mind went to the story of the littlest ride man which is performed yearly at the Art Museum here in
Fort Worth. The child wise man is so anxious to follow the star to whom he knows is the King who has come to save the world . He realizes he has nothing to take of value. In his child heart he soon realizes he is carrying his most prize possessions with him . His little bag of rocks he has collected . These rocks are his prize possessions. He knows that they have no great earthly value but value to himself. Upon his arrival to the new born King he lays the rocks at the crib of Jesus along with the elaborate gifts the Three Kings have just left for Jesus. What are our prize possessions . Time, money, pride, jobs. My husband would say BTU’s body time units. What can I bring before the King as I come into His presence. Can I lay aside the distractions for just a brief moment to kneel at His feet. When was the last time I submitted to Him everything as I came before Him. He has poured so many blessings on me what can I bring back to Him. What ever is in my bag of precious possessions am I willing to bring them to Him. Sometimes prize possessions has nothing to do with tangible things. Bringing a sacrifice of praise when you are weary in body from labor of the day. Keeping promises we have commuted to God these too are offerings as we come before His presence. And sometimes in our little bag of precious possessions are heartaches , burdens, scars, fears. We can bring all of these and lay them at the feet of Jesus . You say what type of offering is this to lay before a King . He has asked for these gifts lay them at His feet , See what happens for the more you give the more He replenishes. If all you have to offer is brokenness in His presence He will gladly receive . When laid at the feet Jesus it becomes something beautiful. He never takes without returning . The beauty of coming before His presence with a gift an offering. So give generously for you can never out give God. So you may only have a five dollar bill in your wallet or maybe you’ve got $100 and a $5 which will it be ? He says give and I will pour out a blessing upon you that you can’t even contain. Live Jesus Give Jesus

    Malachi 3:10
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

  17. “Every man shall give as he is able, in accordance with the blessing which the LORD your God has given you.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭16:17‬ ‭AMP‬

    What can you give?

Time, treasure, talent, relationship, He has given it all to us, how much are we willing to give back?

  18. 17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

God blesses us so we can bless Him and His Kingdom. We will obey Your Word today Lord and give to You our very best!

  19. Accountability,
Jesus is my strength within me … Greater is he in me and he still working
I have fallen , I fell short like ouch … Sin doesn’t play games . Repent daily , God’s mercies are anew everyday

  20. 16:19 thou shall not pervert judgment, or show partiality, do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise, and twist the words of the innocent.
    ——-
Even the wise man can make a poor choice ,fall into temptation . And pervert the good that the Lord has done.

  21. The Feast of Weeks is the day of Pentecost:

When we remember the day of Pentecost we see here that it was for both the Jew and the stranger or non Jew. It is for us! God chose this day to pour out his Spirit on his followers in the upper room. This was the birth of the New Testament church. Vs 12 reminds us to remember that we were bound in sin before we were born again of water and Spirit. It is truly a day to rejoice because God grafted the lowly gentile onto the true vine on that day of Pentecost in Acts 2, and we are part of the one true church! Thank you Jesus! He had us in mind when he opened this feast day to ALL.

  22. Deuteronomy 16:17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

I Corinthians 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let everyone of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Proverbs 12:8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, But he who is of a perverse heart will be despised.

    Wise to give !

  23. “You must never set up a wooden Asherah pole beside the altar you build for the Lord your God. And never set up sacred pillars for worship, for the Lord your God hates them.
    Deuteronomy 16:21‭-‬22 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/deu.16.21-22.NLT

God has a clear design for how to worship Him. as he stated in previous chapters we are not to worship him the way the surrounding Nations worship their gods. If we are called to be set apart then that means our worship needs to be set apart. We don’t slash our wrists, sacrifice our children, dance around naked, wave wands around, pray with crystals or drums or anything like that. Our worship is pure and can come from only us. We may use instruments to praise Him, but our worship-the part of us that cries out at His Wonder and declares how much we can’t live without Him-is separate and Holy. Not to take on the similarities of the surrounding beliefs.

  24. “Every man shall give as he is able, in accordance with the blessing which the LORD your God has given you.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭16:17‬ ‭AMP‬‬

A gift we can offer to God is ourselves. We have been blessed with a redemption plan to follow. And as we follow that plan we will be changed.

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  25. ‘The right! The right! Pursue only what’s right! It’s the only way you can really live and possess the land that God, your God, is giving you.”
    Deuteronomy 16:20

I can recall times in my own life, where I was searching for something. The thing that makes everything “just right”. Through trial and error, I’ve learned there is truly nothing that will make everything perfectly right, then Jesus Christ.

When we do what’s RIGHT in the Lord’s eyes, He will supply our everything!

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

  26. 20 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

When I read this I understand that to be just is to be honest and it is something that we should all long to be. It’s beautiful quality of leadership, and God the mastermind of good leadership requires us to represent Him and His kingdom well. With this He’s telling us how to live and how to lead (live Jesus- give Jesus) If you are dishonest or misleading with others, you cannot live a life of integrity and God wants the very best for us so that we all have the possibility of inheriting His blessings.

“What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” … Micah 6:8

  27. 11 And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

Our praise should not change just because someone we don’t like or approve of walks into the sanctuary. I’ve seen so many times when a person someone doesn’t like walk through the back doors it makes the other person get a sour face and the mean mug them the rest of the service. It reads that we should rejoice before the Lord along with anyone and everyone that is beside us! Nothing should deter us from praising the Lord!!

17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

Also, we should give of our praise as we are able. Again nothing should restrict our praise or our giving unto the Lord! For he is great and greatly to be praised!!

  28. 21 Do not set up any wooden Asherah pole beside the altar you build to the Lord your God, 22 and do not erect a sacred stone, for these the Lord your God hates.

Amén!!! Many seek other carnal things and start to worship them. The Lord wants all of our attention with no other idols that take His place. Jesus is above everything and should be in our lives also. LIVE JESUS

  29. 3 Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.

4 And there shall be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.

Leaven was a picture of sin and corruption, because of the way a little leaven would influence a whole lump of dough, and also because of the way leaven would “puff up” the lump – even as pride and sin makes us “puffed up.”

  30. 19 Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

You should not judge others cause you never know what’s going on and you shall never be nobble to the bad things cause God has a plan for you and all you have to do is follow him and his path.

  31. Deuteronomy 16:1, “OBSERVE the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.”

Observe means to notice or perceive (something) and register it as being significant.
Significant means sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention.

The Israelites were to OBSERVE the month of Abib as the time when God brought them out of Egypt by night.
We must never forget when God brought us out of this world of darkness and into His marvellous light. I OBSERVE Sept. 12, 1982, as the time God brought me out of this world of darkness.

    Thank You JESUS!!

  32. Deuteronomio 16 :1-2

  33. “Seven days you shall keep a sacred feast to the LORD your God in the place which the LORD chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you surely rejoice.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭16:15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This Scripture means that, the Lord your God will bless you and all your work if you keep this sacred festival which as known as the Passover.

  34. 11 And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

13 Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and thy wine:

We should rejoice with our brothers and sister and remember about his greatness and feast in fellowship

  35. 16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose: in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:

17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.

At least a few times a year all the people of the church will appear in the sanctuary of POFW to celebrate God and His works, and they shall not come empty (handed or spiritualless) before the Lord.
Every person shall give as he is able (money and praise), according to the blessing(s) the Lord your God has given you.

    Hallelujah!!

    Praise the Lord God!

  36. “You must not sacrifice the Passover in any town the Lord your God gives you except in the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name. There you must sacrifice the Passover in the evening, when the sun goes down, on the anniversary of your departure from Egypt.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭16:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“…. the place he will choose,” is something that keeps being repeated throughout the chapter. It’s so important to make sure we are actually where God wants us and not where our flesh desires to be. How many times have you brought hardship on yourself because you decided to do things your way instead of being where God said you should be.

Several years ago when we had originally decided to move to Fort Worth we felt it was the best decision and we were very confident in our decision so we began to make arrangements to move from Lake Charles to Fort Worth. But God has other plans, in the middle of a serve Bro Guy called us out because God had revealed our plans to him and warned us it wasn’t time and if we went through with it anyway it would cause hardship and our marriage would end in divorce. That night we chose to heed to Prophet’s warning but that’s just the example I’m pointing out. Sure, we could have chosen to take our chances and see what happens but we wanted to make sure we were exactly where God wanted us to be. There’s no where I’d want to go without knowing God has ordained our steps to, the places he chooses for us are far greater than we could ever choose for ourselves.

  37. 17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

God knows what he has blessed each of us with. Some have received more than others. Still he asks for them both to give an offering. It’s not only about the physical blessings but the spiritual as well. They are to offer as they are able. To whom much is given, also much is required. God knows the mans heart and blessings and wants us to give freely the right amount. He’s looking for honesty and a willing heart to give.

  38. Sometimes we are in dark a place when God leads us out of our Egypt; just shalt thou follow

    Deuteronomy 16:1 KJV
[1] Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the Lord thy God: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

    **brought thee forth

    Deuteronomy 16:20 KJV
[20] That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

    **just shalt thou follow

    Esther 4:3 KJV
[3] And in every province, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

  39. 1-17:

The laws for the three yearly feasts are here repeated. That of the Passover, that of the Pentecost, that of Tabernacles; and the general law concerning the people’s attendance. Never should a believer forget his low estate of guilt and misery. His deliverance, and the price it cost the Redeemer. That gratitude and joy in the Lord may be mingled with sorrow for sin, and patience under the tribulations in his way to the kingdom of heaven. They must rejoice in their receiving from God, and in their returns of service and sacrifice to him. Our duty must be our delight, as well as our enjoyment. If those who were under the law must rejoice before God, much more we that are under the grace of the gospel. Which makes it our duty to rejoice evermore, to rejoice in the Lord always. When we rejoice in God ourselves, we should do what we can to assist others also to rejoice in him. By comforting the mourners, and supplying those who are in want. All who make God their joy, may rejoice in hope, for He is faithful that has promised.

  40. We are held accountable for our actions and what we say . When God brings us out of our mess it is not for us to get back into that situation; we need to thank God for delivering us and move on and tell others of his wonderful work.

  41. 15 Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord shall choose: because the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.

Keep up with practices, commitments, and charges from the lord and he will bless you. The lord guilded the Israelites all around the wilderness and the he guilded and set boundaries and had certain guidelines or standards for them in Canaan. He brought them to certain place and said this what needs to be done this is the customs the rituals and new habits i will put in place for you to keep you holy to keep you with me, to allow you to remember what i brought you out of. So you don’t go back to a place of bondage, so you can carryout the life that God promised. He says in this passage sit down for seven days and keep a solemn feast, a sincere dinner, in his name, where he brought you and remember where you came from. In doing this he will bless you and you will know that you are blessed.

  42. I wonder if the reason Jewish people fast until dark has something to do with their deliverance from Egypt? Interesting thought.

God is a jealous God. When we constantly remind him and ourselves of the wonderful things he has done it makes him lifted higher in my life as well as the lives around me.

  43. He will choose the place and you don’t come empty

It is imperative that we come to God with an offering. Some times my offering of money is not what I want it to be but in this times I try to give in other ways like serving an extra shift at church or spending extra time on outreach. God is not hung up on how much money you give but he does look at the sacrifice of the heart. Staying accountable will keep us safe with God.

  44. 17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

This law does not relate to money only, but to time, service, etc. It could be so easy for the wealthy to buy themselves off, by the gifts of money, simply because of the abundance of their wealth.
    Lets give Jesus!

  45. 16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty:

17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.

Dont come empty handed. When people went to visit a king they brought a present. We see it in the scriptures. The same way we ought to bring our offering and present it before the Lord. He has blessed us and according to the blessing of the Lord we should honor the Lord with our giving.

  46. 12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

God has made us free. No longer bound by sin, we can go further in Christ. Sin will hold you back and hold you down. Once you are made free, you are free to praise and worship the great and mighty king. Don’t let the trials of life keep you from what God wants you to do.

  47. 12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

Thank you JESUS!!! YOU HAVE SET ME FREE!!! THANK YOU FOR DELIVERANCE!!! Even though it is easy to over look with all the cares of this world, YOU are faithful and i see at even turn i make, YOU ARE THERE!!! So AWESOME ARE YOU DADDY!!!

  48. 12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.
13 Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and thy wine:

It is very unfortunate, but all too often we allow ourselves to grow complacent and forget what bondage we came out of when we were born again.

  49. 17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given ogosthee.

God requires us to give according to the blessings He has given us. He has given us much so it is our responsibility to share in the much. All that God had given in each season of our walk we are to give.

  50. “All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the Lord your God.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭16:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Whatever god blesses us with we should give back to the kingdom. Your time, your gifts whatever it is that god has blessed you with pour back into his kingdom.

  51. 20 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

21 Thou shalt not plant thee a grove of any trees near unto the altar of the Lord thy God, which thou shalt make thee.

22 Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the Lord thy God hateth.

In this chapter it is interesting to note the mandate of God, he instructed a season for each element, a time to celebrate, a time to offer offerings, a time to rest etc. He proceeds to indicate that we must follow these commands, and finally gives us instruction to follow that which altogether just, should these steps not be followed we cannot inherit the land, we cannot live in abundance and possess the land.

Again these chapters confirm that the process with God is of great detail, our service to God is of utmost importance and is to be executed with diligence.

    As the writer stated…

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

May this be my heartbeat and desire as we embark on this New Year. If we do not honor the master as he requests we cannot possess the land. I must live in his instruction and law.

  52. 12Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, so be careful to obey all these decrees.

We were slaves to the world, in our past. But after your baptized, you are set free. We are no longer part of the world but part of the Kingdom of God.
