Joshua 1

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you to possess it.

12 And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,

13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lordcommanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

15 Until the Lord have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the Lord your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord‘s servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

16 And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

17 According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the Lord thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

18 Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

The pressure is on as the anointing is placed on the man of God being established in this chapter. Gods will is yet to not fail or cease due to the fact of selective submission. Moses is dead and gone and Joshua is quickly given the baton to carry on the will of God. A willing vessel to perform the will of God and all throughout the chapter we see the decree to be STRONG and COURAGEOUS. God doesn’t want us to be weak and afraid by no means. This is where I would say, when you pray today pray for that Holy Boldness to cling to you today as you face the Lost as you go to lead someone into the promise land go ahead and be strong and courageous in the Lord.

  2. 1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

Now that Moses was dead, the great leadership responsibility fell unto the one God chide to succeed Moses and that was Joshua. I find that even though Joshua was trained by Moses, it still is a great responsibility to now be accountable to God for millions of people. I can only image the stress of not wanting to make the wrong choices and making mistakes that might anger God. But God reassures Joshua that he needed to be strong and courageous and not worry about anyone or anything coming against him. No matter where he went he was not going to be alone. Even with the great responsibility, I am pretty sure Joshua felt alone.

One thing that every saint of God needs to know, God is always with us. We are never alone. To many times the reason we feel alone is because we fail to nurture the relationship with God and he is only as far away as we have gotten from him. If we keep his commandments, then he will be with us every step we take and we will be covered. It is up to us whether we live Jesus 24/7 or we choose selfish submission. It’s up to us.

  3. Verses 2-9 MSG “Moses my servant is dead. Get going. Cross this Jordan River, you and all the people. Cross to the country I’m giving to the People of Israel. I’m giving you every square inch of the land you set your foot on—just as I promised Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon east to the Great River, the Euphrates River—all the Hittite country—and then west to the Great Sea. It’s all yours. All your life, no one will be able to hold out against you. In the same way I was with Moses, I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage! You are going to lead this people to inherit the land that I promised to give their ancestors. Give it everything you have, heart and soul. Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.” No time to lose, no time to waste…..God told Joshua….”get going”. God is giving us every square inch of Fort Worth and all surrounding counties. The time to serve is now (“get going”) and we must give it our all (every bit of it), not allowing anything to get us off track.

  4. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

I should be strong and of good courage hour will not be afraid And I will not be dismayed, Ford this is the first day of the rest of my life with my Lord Jesus Christ,

  5. 13. Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

    14. Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

    15. Until the Lord have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the Lord your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord’s servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

When you get to your own “promised land”, don’t forget the promises you made on your journey there, because God hasn’t forgotten.

  6. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
The daily reminders that he’s with us, just reading the bible gives you that push to do better. That hunger of wanting more is filled and if we keep following his word then we make sure there are no voids in our life.

  7. Joshua 1: 6-7 [Amp] Be strong ( confident) and of good courage, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
]7] Only you be strong and very courageous, that you may do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you, Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper whoever you go.
Here Joshua , who was from the tribe of Ephraim , He was commissioned as a leader before Moses death. He was preparing for his ministry included captain of Israel’s army in repulsing of the Amalekites.
When are going through trail or tribulation we must get ourselves ready . To be ministers of leadership were ever it needed. Our hearts and minds must be focus on the word of the Lord. It could be something different through God. Where God is going to send you. Be strong and confident.
Lord my prayer today that people will step up and be some ministry to grow with Jesus. Remember that the Lord be right here with us . Have a bless day in Jesus name.

  8. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

When we are submitted, we have authority and favor. I pray we all choose to be wholly submitted today so we can walk according to His Word.

  9. Joshua 1
The anointing had been passed down to Joshua. I am sure that Joshua may have been questioning the position God had just placed him in. He is admonished several times by God to be strong and courageous. Was Joshua reflecting on the past as he changed positions from being trained following to now being the leader. Was he truly ready .
Through all these critical moments in the life of God’s people, Joshua was there with Moses. Moses helped ensure the following generation would love and fear God. He served his people by pouring his life into another. And immediately after Moses’ death, Joshua was ready to lead Israel. Yet God repeats be strong and courageous. Even at the end of this first chapter of Joshua the people make the same proclamation that Joshua needs to be strong and courageous.
Moving into a higher position in ministry will have challenges. Although Moses has prepared Joshua there must have been some feelings of was he actually ready to take on this new position. This is why having the full support of a covering, God then Moses passing the torch and then the support of the people. Joshua was ready but he knew the oath and leadership that Moses had portrayed. Will he truly be accepted. Will he lead as he should. It’s so important to stay humble and allow God to be in the midst of ministry . Whether first man second man or even third no matter what position God places you in we must remain submitted and humble. Learning to follow is what makes good leaders . God will equip you with boldness and courage. Will Joshua do it just like Moses ? Absolutely not ! But he will lead and will succeed as long as he remains submitted to God. We must encourage our leadership and learn from them . Don’t be in a hurry for positions there are plenty of places to be filled in the Kingdom of God . Stay close watch and be obedient to the leadership God has placed over us. When it is your time God will appoint you. But in the mean time glean and grow and prepare and work and when you find your position in life has changed and your ministry role has changed you too will need that extra boost
    Equipped for Duty
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Use every opportunity that God gives you . Stay close to your Pastor as he pours into you . You never know what God’s next plan may be for you. It may not be taking a pastor position but whatever position if you have fully submitted . God will give you the nudge to fulfill the position. I laugh as I write this I’ve seen so many men and women just waiting and when they get to this place they take the first step and you can usually know within a short time was it a God call or a self call; to what pastor preached last night selfish submissions or Live Jesus. Give Jesus.

  10. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

The only time the Bible ever mention soward success is in this chapter. The promise of being successful and prosperous is on the contingency of observing meditating on the statutes that the Lord gave him. Even though this direction was given to Joshua, the promise is to us in each area that we are called to. For believers, I truly believe the only thing that we are meant to be successful is our calling, the thing that good business for. The word of God tells us that Joseph prospered everywhere he went even when he was a slave and a prisoner, bc he was exactly where God wanted him.

  11. Wow, the people are getting to their chosen place. All their prayers and promises are needed to be in mind to be successful God’s people. God is so good

  12. 5 No one can stop you from taking this land as long as you live. As I was with Moses, I will always be with you. I will never leave you alone.
6 Be strong and do not be afraid. You will lead these people to take the land. That is the land that I promised to give to their fathers.
7 Be strong and do not be afraid. Be careful to do all the things that Moses told you. Remember to do everything that he told you. Then everything will go well with you. You will win, everywhere you go.
8 You must keep on speaking about the words o f God’s law . Think about what it says, all the time. Then you will be careful to obey it. Then you will help yourselves to do well, and to win.
9 Remember that I have told you to do this. So be strong and do not be afraid. Do not be weak but be brave. I, the Lord your God, will be with you, everywhere that you go.’

    Joshua 1:5-9 EASY
    https://bible.com/bible/2079/jos.1.9.EASY

The Lord our God is telling us he will never leave us he will never leave our side like he was with Moses he never left his side. We can win and achieve lots of things when we have God With us. We should always remember that God is always with us at all times. God specifically tells us that we need to stay strong and be strong, The Lord our God will always be with us always we just always need to obey God’s commandments and never forget that God is always with us.

  13. 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

God does not fail his people. We may fail God several times, but he doesn’t fail us. When we get in trouble, God will be there to bring us out. If we continue to put our trust in him, he will make sure we are taken care of.

    • Keep following God and be obedient to your parents as they follow God and Pastor . You too can become a great leader for the Kingdom of God .

  14. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

That’s Whitesettlement, Fort Worth, Aledo Weatherford, Millsap, Cool, Mineral Wells, and ALL SURROU DING COUNTIES TO THE NORTH, WEST, EAST, and SOUTH!!! Let’s take a walk through the neighborhood claiming it in Jesus Name!!! It is ours for He has given us dominion! !!! Let’s put our foot down!!! In Jesus Name Amen!

  15. 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Even though it has been decreed that the land is given to the children of Israel, there are still bombings and violence over whom it should belong to!!! GOD HAS THE FIRST AND LAST WORD!!! GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!

  16. 15 Until the Lord have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the Lord your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord‘s servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

Moses is mentioned as the Lord’s servant and wasn’t allowed to enter into the promised land….. just because we are saved and sanctified today doesn’t mean that tomorrow is certain to be the same!!! It is a DAILY RELATIONSHIP that we SHOULD STRIVE to have with GOD!!!

  17. iLove Jesus
Jos 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Strength and courage does not come naturally. Joshua continues to encourage the people to “be strong and of a good courage”. Bravery is the fact you are facing your fear head on. Courage is also wrapped up in faith as well. Someone who is not confident can not be brave because fear of the unknown will destroy them. We must take our level of faith higher so we will be courageous.

  18. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

The Lord told Joshua 3 times to be strong and courageous whole telling him to meditate day and night on his word. Through God we strong and through him we can do his will when we know his power. Ps 91 was in a fitting place and awesome word to meditate on before facing the enemy. He is my strength and strong tower, he is the banner over me of love, he prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemy and much much more! Hide his word in your heart and be still and know he is God when the trials of life come hard against you.

  19. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

    Psalms 27:14
    Wait on the Lord:
be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

With courage comes. Victory!!! Never give up the fight!!!! The battle belongs to the Lord!

  20. 1:13 Remember The word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, the Lord your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
    ———
No matter what, I will be at rest.!!! ( peace)
    Hallelujah 🙌.
    the Lord has given rest.
We do what we need to do
    We obey
We believe, but no matter what, I will not give my peace away….

  21. “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I feel like Joshua was frozen as God talked to him, maybe even getting in his head about some of the things He spoke to him. Leadership and growth may seem intimidating but we have to remember we have a God who will never fail or forsake us. I thank God that we can have boldness and confidence in Him. I pray we go today and let God have His way, that we don’t limit Him but allow him to speak through us.

  22. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

In a world full of distractions and demanding lifestyles can overload us and keep our focus off God. Joshua is speaking of the revelation God gave to Moses that they must observe the law and if they do not astray then He will cause them to prosper. If we build our lives upon our relationship with God then our everyday life will be blessed and he will be there with us.

  23. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Our Bible readings everyday should stay in our Maury. We should always be talking and thinking about what we’ve read, what we’ve learned from our readings and from Pastor. Thinking and meditating on it daily. So that we can reflect in on our hearts in our own life as well. This is helps us have good success in life. Because if we meditate and dwell on these things then we reflect and live this through our actions.

18 Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

Do not be the one to go against the commandments. Follow His instructions and don’t turn away. All other roads lead to destruction. . . Is it worth it?

  24. Joshua 1:8 (AMP)
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read (and meditate on) it day and night, so that you may be careful to do (everything) in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful.”

We should always be Speaking the Word, Reading the Word, and Doing and Living the Word.
We got to LIVE JESUS to GIVE JESUS!!

  25. Joshua 1:6
Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this peoples shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

God promised Israel that they will possess the land which the Lord our God gave them. As of today they do not have all of their land, but they will! Also “be strong and of a good courage”. With God in our heart and soul we can be strong and courageous. It is not always easy but God has never failed us and we should do our best not to fail Him.

  26. Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage ; be not afraid, need neither be thou dismayed : for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Thank God for always being with me!!

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation ; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life ; of whom shall I be afraid?

    My heart shall not fear!

  27. 1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

The torch of leadership was now being affirmed by God that it had been passed from Moses to Joshua. God wanted Joshua to know that He was with him, just as He had been with Moses. Yet God also confirmed to Joshua to not only be strong and courageous and have confidence that everywhere he went God would was with Him, but to also hold fast to the book of the law that had been given Moses and observe all that was in it.

This is so important because many times when the torch of truth is passed from one leader down to another, parts of that truth are lost, or done away with, thinking it not necessary. God’s Word is so important we must never add to or take away from, but apply it to our daily lives with reverence and prayer.

  29. 10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you to possess it.

The waiting for God is often the most difficult part for us, but days of waiting are always days of preparation in God’s work. There is no wasted time with God.

  30. The Israelites embark on a journey for the first time without their beloved leader, the one who prayed blood sweat and tears for them to be where they are now. Millions of people hanging on nothing but faith and the words of their leader and man of God now passed, they are standing at the door of destiny, uncertain of what’s to come. But the new God appointed leader stands up and the Word of the Lord comes boldly from him. His exchange of words as he directs the Israelites and when they respond back to him contains the same thing. BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE. It’s spoken four times in the FIRST chapter of this precious book. A pivotal moment in Jewish history. ..
How many of us are on the brink of something? Everyday we wake up and submit ourselves to God we are submitting to something bigger than ourselves. As we go through this God given journey of life there will be times of uncertainty, perhaps even doubt, fear. But through those rocky or dark times we hear the Voice of God breathe into us saying ” be strong and of good courage. I will not fail you, nor forsake you. I will be with you.”

Be encouraged, people of the Most High!! Our God is for us!!

  31. 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

The whole land was already given to them, but they could only posses that which they claimed.

The city of Fort Worth has been given to us, but to fully posses it, we must claim it!

This passage proves the effectiveness of outreach, prayer walks and prayer at the plaza!

  32. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Our Lord thy God commanded us to be Strong and have Great Courage! The Lord does not want us to be scared or for us to be in pain. The Lord thy God will be with you wherever you may go and whatever you may do because he loves us and will always be protecting us.

  33. 5 No one will be able to stand against you all the rays of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
This is a new beginning in leadership and
I can’t even imagine trying to fill Moses shoes…or sandals. I assume that God spoke these specific words specifically to Joshua because I think He knew he missed Moses, after all he was his Pastor, and stepping into leadership like this is not easy to do.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
And yet again Joshua is boldly reminded that he was to get his strength from God and not be afraid of what he was to face. He was to do what was commanded of him and not depend on his own strength. So Joshua was to fill himself in the word of God. He was to meditate on the promises and he was to trust in the truth of God’s Word and follow the demands of God that had been given to Israel. He needed to lean on God and depend on Him. As we apply this to our own life we too are to fill ourselves up with the word of God, we are to eat it up. We are to trust in the truth of God’s Word, and follow the demands that have been given to us through our Pastor with the understanding that God is always with us and His strength is made perfect in our weakness…Thank you Jesus yes it is!!

  34. I Love To Worship The Lord

1:1 (Servant) The word identifying Moses as God’s servant is the participle of sarat, to serve or minister. It indicates that the person served (here, God) is of high rank, it suggests a close relationship between the servant and the one served, and it casts the work of the servant as of the greatest importance. Being “the servant of the Lord” is the highest rank.

  35. In this chapter God told us to be strong and courageous. He said tat we have to follow the laws that Moses gave us. POFW we have to always be strong and courageous. We stand by a Graeme and powerful mighty God!

  36. Josue 1:2
    «Mi siervo Moisés ha muerto»
Frecuentemente se hace la pregunta: «¿Por qué Moisés no pudo entrar a la Tierra Prometida después de ser un líder tan fiel y efectivo?»
La Biblia nos revela una y otra vez que cuando Dios le revela a alguien qué hacer, si el cambia levemente aquello el resultado , traerá Juicio

*Dios no hace acepción depersonas.

  37. In this chapter I see faith. God is speaking about what He is going to give them and the people said “let’s do this and anyone who will not follow and do what you and God says will die!”

The people had great faith to hold on to Gods word and move forward with Joshua. They held on to Moses and God yet Moses only took them so far. Now they will have to trust Joshua and God. How is this? Well the peoples faith was not in the man per say but in the God of man! That is where all our faith should be… in God.

Why would the people have to kill the disobedient? The answer is simple. They learned from Moses and those that had to die in the wilderness that disobedience will hinder progress.

The Israelites that came out of Egypt are not the same Israelites that processed the promise lands. They been through something’s, seen somethings, and grown wiser.

  38. “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Victory is assured not because Joshua is a great leader, or because Israel is a great nation, but because God is a great God, and He says to Joshua, I will be with you. This is enough for any man seeking to do God’s will.

  39. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I swear unto their fathers to give them.
we will be strong and brave and put our faith in him and he will bless us.

  40. 1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee

After the death of Moses it was Joshua’s responsibility was to go and take the land, the land that God had already given them. It’s was now his responsibility to lead. Just as Moses thought Joshua, it’s our responsibility as leader’s to teach new leader’s to do what God has called us to do. We are called to lead people to Christ and to make disciples. God has promised to be with us, we must not be afraid. He said be strong and courageous.

  41. “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This Scripture means that, The Body of Christ should be strong and courageous for If God is for us then who shall be against us for He goes wherever we go.

  42. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

Many time I have heard this miss quoted, and said as everywhere your feet touch. Places can be either big or small.

Many times we miss out on our blessings because we either don’t know The Word, or we miss understand the word spoken over us.

  43. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

For those looking to be successful, here is the key!
Thank you Jesus, for your Word, it is literally a lamp unto my feet.

  44. No time to waste

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

There are place to go and people to win. There is no time to waste. We have to build on the victories and learn from the setbacks that our own patriarchs have lived before us so that we can drop right into the battle where they left off. There is no time to waste.

  45. “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Ministry Doesn’t Stop.
Life throws things at all of us. Everyone is going to have troubles in their life. Just because things happen doesn’t mean the ministry stopped. Moses died, God spoke to Joshua. “Moving on” may be hard, but there is always another person willing to minister in u our place.

  46. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
    Joshua 1:8 NLT

If we can get in our spirit to study and meditate on His Word on a daily basis. We will have the key to prosper and succeed in everything we do. We just have to get it in our heart and fall in love with it.

  47. 18 Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

Be strong and of good courage was said 4 times in this chapter. Strong means to have power to move heavy things. It also means to be able to withstand a lot of pressure or force, and could also mean very intense. There was quite a few definitions. Now when i looked up courage it did not have as many definitions. It means to be able to face something that may frighten you or strength to get through pain or grief. So i went on to read other definitions and resources giving by our trusty Google and found that the root word cor latin for heart, a set of emotions, our temperament. God not only told Joshua to be strong and of good courage, Joshua also told his people that yes there will be times of great pressure and forces against us, there will be heavy burdens to bare and life will be very intense at times, but keep a good heart and positive set of emotions about it. Be strong and of a good courage. Amen!

  48. ““Remember the command that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you after he said, ‘The Lord your God will give you rest by giving you this land.’ Your wives, your children and your livestock may stay in the land that Moses gave you east of the Jordan, but all your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites. You are to help them until the Lord gives them rest, as he has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land the Lord your God is giving them. After that, you may go back and occupy your own land, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you east of the Jordan toward the sunrise.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:13-15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It’s so important to spiritually have each others back. At any given point we should be able to look around and notice that your brother/sister needs somebody to give them rest in whatever they’re going through and lift them up in prayer until rest has been restored in them.

I need you, you need me.
    We’re all a part of God’s body.
Stand with me, agree with me.
    We’re all a part of God’s body.
It is his will, that every need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
I pray for you, You pray for me.
I love you, I need you to survive.

  49. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

You are never alone. In our tests & trials OT may seem that we are alone and no one is there but God is always there. We have to come out of our pride and allow god to take control. When we try and do it on our own it never goes right. God is on our side he is just waiting for us to let our hands off it and realize that we need him.

  50. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

God’s promises are beautiful and infinite. We read in this chapter of what a mighty God we serve. When we obey and follow His commands, we posses everything that we set foot on because He is with us. We shall have no fear of the giants on this earth for we serve a powerful God, who by His voice all things are possible!

  51. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

This Word is not for the weak or double minded. It is commanded to be strong and of good courage to observe to do all the law. Why? Becuase honestly it will take having a mind made up to stand for truth. To do that which is right when the crowds are going against. You have to be courageous to live out this Word.

  52. “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””(‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NLT)

The Lord wants us to be strong hearted and have strong faith in him by trusting him in everything we face in life.

  53. 2“Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them.

Always be prepared to take over, when called upon. As leaders we should teach others, at work train others to take over your position. Help others grow into your position.

  54. As believers we should always be progressing on the spiritual journey. However, many times we stop short in receiving what God wants us to have. Israel stopped short when they failed to enter the Promised Land the first time. In their disobedience, they wandered in the wilderness instead of receiving what God had promised.

Our stopping short may be the result of holding onto some sin or refusing to follow God’s direction in certain matters, but the end result is this: because we wander, we fail to enjoy the blessings of God.

So how do we move from where we are to where God wants us to be? The people of Israel give us some clues.

    I. Receive the challenge (v. 2)

    A. Challenge to the untamed (3:15)

    B. Challenge to the unknown

    II. Recognize God’s commitment (v. 5)

    A. Powerful presence

    B. Personal presence

    C. Permanent presence

    III. Respect God’s commands (v.7)

    A. Complete

    B. Consistent

  55. 9) Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goist.

But failure does not mean defeat!!!

    Hallelujah!!

Praise to the One true Living GOD!!!

  56. ““Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:6-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Word of God is a foundation we can stand on. If ever in our lives we have received a Word from God we must stand faithfully and confident that it will come to pass.
