Joshua 2

And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.

And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.

And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;

And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token:

13 And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

14 And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the Lord hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

15 Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

16 And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.

17 And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

19 And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

20 And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

21 And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

22 And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.

23 So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:

24 And they said unto Joshua, Truly the Lord hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

  1. 12Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token: 13And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death. 14And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. Even in the midst of chaos the Lord allows the most undeserving person to be used to further the ministry and the kingdom. We find that the spies sought shelter in the harlots house and she protected the men of Israel. By doing so they showed favor for her and her family when they were to overthrow the city of Jericho. Using a harlot to further the kingdom of God shows us that it doesn’t matter the walk of life you come from, when God favors you, you will be used.

This chapter shows us that it doesn’t matter about our past or present. The only thing that matters is the future. Where are we going to spend the future to include eternity. We have the greatest opportunity to gain favor with God and we have to make sure we heed the call. Our time and opportunity is running out. Because when the trumpet of God sounds time will be no more. Give everything in giving Jesus to a lost and dying world. Show forth grace and favor as God has shown to each of us. Live Jesus to Give Jesus.

  2. 14 And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the Lord hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

  3. What would you do if you were faced with such a decision? In this chapter, we read how Rahab received these spies and made a decision to keep them safe from the harm she knew would come upon them if found. Rahab didn’t personally know these men; but, she had heard the story of all that God had brought these people through and how He fought for them. What you hear is important and so is what you do with it. Decisions come through the process of what you know or think you know. Rahab knew there was something different here and she made a decision to be part of the saving of these men, not betraying them. We must let the Lord guide us in every decision we make, Rahab did and her whole household was saved due to her decision to do the right thing. Choose to LIVE-GIVE JESUS.

  4. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

There’s a saying that I always a phrase that I heard from a lady in our church would always say … “God’s favor ain’t fair!”‘ She had been homeless in the gutter, a drunk and carried a crow bar as a protection. According to society she was looked down on and to most she she wasn’t eligible for God’s grace and mercy. Don’t forget where you came from. If he brought You to it, He’ll take you through it!! What the Devil meant for bad, God will turn it around!!!

  6. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    THEY HEARD ABOUT US

9 And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

Courageous acts are noticed by everyone, even adversaries. It is sad that so many JESUS followers live in fear. The greatest power that satan possesses is the power of intimidation or instilling of fear.

We learn from the words of Rahab that when people see that GOD is with us, then they are fearful of us because of our GOD. As we LIVE JESUS in our lives, others will notice and respect the GOD that has delivered, protected and kept.

40 Years later the adversary remembers what GOD did to deliver Israel from Egypt. We should continue to share our testimony even though it be 40 years old, it remains a powerful demonstration and illustration of GODs LOVE to us and HIS Power displayed for others to see.

  7. 24 And they said unto Joshua, Truly the Lord hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

God will give the enemy into your hands. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding. We must learn to trust God and that he will take care of our problems. He will also give us the strength to make it through every situation.

  8. In this chapter….. Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there. God can always send angels of people if God to watch out for cities, countries, and even states. We always have to be aware of what we do and think. We never know if God will send an angel down for us. We also always have to be ready for when that day the trumpet sounds! BE THOUGHTFUL POFW!!!

  9. Joshua 2: 10-11 [Amp] For we heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the [ east] side of Jordan, Sin in, and Oh, Whom you utterly destroyed.
[11] When we heard it, our hearts melted, neither did spirit or courage remain any more in any man because of you , for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
[ Prompted] faith Rahad the prostitute was not destroyed along with those who refused to be believe and obey, because she had received the spies in peace [ without enmity]. Because of faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encompassion for seven days, [ By the Israelites].
Wow Wow what a story of faith! By faith , simple trust and confidence in faith. Thank you Jesus for your great faith. Having a little seed of faith God can use it. Praise God.

  10. 18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

When we fear the Lord and protect the people He loves and uses, He will surely repay us with life and protection for our own homes. When we care for the Kingdom of God, He will take care of our needs.

  11. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

When we follow the Lord others will know because of what they see in us and what they see the Lord is doing in our lives.

  12. “Then Joshua secretly sent out two spies from the Israelite camp at Acacia Grove. He instructed them, “Scout out the land on the other side of the Jordan River, especially around Jericho.” So the two men set out and came to the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there that night.

“Now swear to me by the Lord that you will be kind to me and my family since I have helped you. Give me some guarantee that when Jericho is conquered, you will let me live, along with my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all their families.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2:1, 12-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I believe that God had a purpose for Rahab life. In this, we see the extent God goes to in bringing one woman and her father’s house to salvation someone impossible to save perhaps. I have seen people that don’t want nothing to do with the things of God. They don’t even let you inside their house at times.
Oh but my God’s hand is not short to save people like Rahab, and He can work in amazing ways to bring salvation to the people that seem impossible. Once salvation nocks at your door there is nothing impossible for God.

No matter who the person is or how they look, let’s GIVE JESUS!!!!

    LIVE . GIVE . JESUS

  13. Trust and Obey! You must listen to the voice of God and obey his direction and he will keep you safe!! his hand is long and will take care of you

  14. 18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

Rahab changed her entire family’s lineage because she was willing to sacrifice herself to protect people of God. Although it is not easy, changing your life and breaking any curses, the word of God tells us that the sins of the father are not visited to the son, but with each consequence, there can be curses brought into families that carry on to generations, and that’s what I Rahab broke. She protected the people of God and only asked that her family be spared

  15. 11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

She knew God is God! She heard what everyone was saying and identified that there was only one God!! Because she knew that, she helped the spies, and because she put God and the spies above her own, God rewards her, and this harlot is part of Jesus Blood line!!! Hallelujah!! From a street walker to a lineage of The King of Kings that’s repentance at its best!!!

24 And they said unto Joshua, Truly the Lord hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

Whats the difference from these spies and the other ten that Moises sent??? I should say 8 because Joshua and another had a positive report but were ignored because they were young. DO NOT IGNORE THE YOUTH FOR THEY ARE OUR FUTURE LEADERS!!! The fact that they knew that the residents of Jericho has heard about the Miracles that God was doing for his people, that made all the difference in the world FAITH IN THEIR GOD!! When your discourage there is nothing wrong with looking back and seeing what He has brought you out of!!! Hallelujah Thank You Jesus for ALL you have done and will do!

  16. 7 And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

15 Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

I guess this is where they got the saying, “When the gate closes, look for a window.” (Or something like that 😏)

  17. 1 And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

    Matthew 1:5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

Most people have the wrong understanding about how God qualifies. Most people think it absurd that someone like Rahab would be in the genealogy of Jesuschrist.

What we need to get is that the very thing that disqualifies is in mans eye, qualities is in Gods.

God came to this world to die for sinners. That’s me and you!

  18. Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord , since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token: And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death. And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the Lord hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

Even when our lives are in utter chaos: God is with us. We can be strong through a storm of chaos. The men were sent to search out the land, but even they were being sought after by the king. There is refuge in chaos and even the faint at heart can help the children of God. Be vigilant and seek sgelter: the time if chaos is there. I know that my life has been in some pretty rough spots, but hey I’m still here; why? It is because of one name above all others; JESUS!!

  19. When we heard all this, we felt very weak. We were very frightened. This is because the Lord , your God, is God. He rules the heaven (the place where God lives) above and the earth beneath.
    Joshua 2:11 EASY
    https://bible.com/bible/2079/jos.2.11.EASY
The Lord our God is the almighty God, he is the king of all kings. Lord or all Lord’s doctors of all doctors. He is the one and only God the one and only king! Live GIVE JESUS!

  20. 12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token:
13 And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

Rahman knew she would die when Israel invaded so she was proactive to save herself and family. She acknowledged their God was more powerful-the God of heaven. Quick thinking by being led of the Lord saved both the spies and Rahab. We must be in tune with the Lord daily to be led by him and it starts first each day.

  21. Joshua 2

8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea[a] for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed.[b] 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.

    The Testimony
What an awesome story how God uses a prostitute to save the lives of these men. Her comments were we have heard the stories . In other words your testimonials have been heard amongst us. We are not given any key here why the men we r to a house if I’ll repute . Did she recognize something within them that she had no fear that they had come to take advantage of her reputation. They made such an impact upon get that she had enough faith to go against the odds in her city. She took a risk and the men did also. Yet there had to be something g within their character that drew her to help them .
What a testimony. Character , actions are very much of a testimony. The city had already heard and one woman stepped out by faith to find out . What is our testimony saying? Are we too good to reach out to those someone else would venture away from.
Not many eve. Realize that because Rahab helped the spies that she ends up being in the linage of Jesus Christ. Skeptical Christians might say why were those men in the horse of prostitution ? Why not ? It was the perfect place to hide. This woman a sinner known all around had more sense then any one on the city . She recognized their integrity and chose to protect them.

So controversial statement . Godly men with a harlot.
Harlot with Godly men. Who will win ? What does your character speak in the midst of the world. She had faith . She would be safe .
God I pray that our character will stand even in the midst of sinners. Allow us to tread into places uncommon to Christians to meet those who feel they may never have a chance at a change of life. They are all aromas us . Some are sitting. Ext to men and women who have lived a life of sin . Will the world win them or will we the church live Jesus and Give Jesus . The Testimony what is yours saying?
Be separate from the world. Don’t laugh at their jokes . Don’t take up their habits and character. Someone just may be waiting to have you help them turn their life around. We can live in this world and not be a part of it…..

    Hebrews 11:2
31 By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.

    James 2:25
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?

  22. 11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

Because Rehab had enough faith to declare who God was and protect those whom He loved, her entire family was spared and their linage was forever changed.

The decisions you make effect those closest to you. You can either make generational curses or break them!

  23. 9 And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

The Israelites grumbled and were upset about the whole journey ordeal they took their eyes off the blessing that GOD had for them, meaning they doubted GOD, but the harlot BELIEVED AND KNEW OF THIS GOD!!!

We can lose sight of the prize if we allow distractions to take us off focus!!!

  24. 9 And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

“Jehovah, your God, He is God in heaven above and in earth beneath.” “That all the people of the earth may know the hand of Jehovah, that it is mighty.”

Rahab had heard of the miracles the Lord wrought for Israel. She believed that his promises would certainly be fulfilled, and his threatenings take effect; and that there was no way of escape but by submitting to him, and joining with his people. The conduct of Rahab proved that she had the real principle of Divine faith.

People in this day’s have heard about Jesus helping them, but are not willing to submit to him and make a change in their lives. The key word is to recognize that the God of Israel is the same and is with us as He was with Israel in the OT.

  25. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

Gods reputation…!!! She had heard of the miracles signs and wonders that the lord had done, and she feared that the same was going to happen to her. Ot was God’s reputation that saved her and its God’s reputation that saves us. How do you represent how are we spreading his news, how far is it going? Do we paint a good picture? Do we get into dept with the miracles signs and wonders that we have witnessed. Glory be to God that i was pulled out of the fire glory be to God that I was brought back to life. I have direction, I am healed, im not bound by addiction anymore and strongholds are continuing to be brought down. But truly what good is my testimony if i don’t share it. Reputation are usually started by rumors of someone’s actions that affected another. So lets start a rumor of God’s good grace, our testimonies, and the events that are yet to come to come if we are not saved today. Lets give him the reputation of being the one true God, the one true King, our salvation, he is the alpha and omega, and he is coming back again.

  26. 2:11 and as soon as we had heard these things
Our hearts did melt, neither remain any courage in any men
Because of you, for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven
    Above and in beneath.
    ——-
All right, this woman is and will always be special , even after death… is …
Why she live that life style, don’t know.
    ( Bible study coming…🙌)
One thing we see: she Knew about God Almighty, she knew what the Lord had done in the past, she cared for the brethren, she cared for her own family, she helped and promised to help even more…..
Everyone is a soul. Everyone need salvation, and God cares.!!!

  27. Even for a harlot Rahab had her house in order. The flax she was drying on her roof top was in order and drying to make cords or linen. Perhaps she made cords for a living (aside from the other things she may do with her time) and it was that God given work/skill that ended up saving the two spies and later saving her entire family. All because of a cord. All because she had her affairs in order. Even though she may not have been doing honorable things at night, God still saw her. She was sensitive to what God was doing.

  28. 18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

19 And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

Rahab and her family found protection in her house, because of her oath with the two spies. As long as they stayed in the house, they were protected, however if they ventured outside the house, then their blood would be upon themselves.

The church is our protection. As long as we stay within the boundaries of the Church Body, walking in truth, we will be protected. The challenge for most comes when we begin to step away from the guidelines of truth and try new things, venture out to see for ourselves if something is really sin, then we cross over that blood line that was established for our protection, and now our blood be upon ourselves.

When the Israelites put blood on the door post, everyone in their home was safe when the death angel visited and took the oldest child of each family.

The blood of Jesus being applied to our lives, and continually applied as protection, is the most important thing we can do for our families. Cover them each day with the blood of Jesus. Guard their minds and protect their spirits from things that would hinder or destroy them.

We are responsible for what we allow or disallow in our home. As for me and my house – we will serve the Lord.

  29. 14 And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the Lord hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

Rahab would be found later in the linage leading up to Jesus. She may live in Jericho but she recognized that the Israelites right off the bat. She had heard of them and their God. She knew that the pagan worship and false gods that her people worshiped weren’t able to save her or her family. She asked for protection for herself and her family when they come to attack Jericho. She did all this because she believed that our God could do the miraculous.

It’s the same for us today. People may see us as a beacon of hope that can lead them to Jesus is a dying world. We are to shine for Jesus so those hurting and lost can identify us. It’s not just the long hair, long skirts and modest appearance that compels people. It really should be our demeanor, compassion for people and love for God that people see. When people see us we should reflect Jesus.

  30. 9 And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

If you walk in the Lord and proclaim His name everywhere you go, then you reputation will proceed you. People will take notice and realize who you are. When I was in high school I thought everyone made fun of my religious beliefs, I thought I was an outcast because of it, my outlook and perception was different than what was actually perceived. Later long after high school in a matter of weeks several different people that I new from high school either called me or I ran into them in public. They asked me to pray with them over the phone, talk for a while about life problems in public, seeking for help. All of them told me that they always respected me at school because I stood for what I believed in dispute the teasing or the opinions of others. Our reputation proceeds all of us!! Just because our perception is one way does not mean that it is preceded that way by everyone.

  31. My night maybe someone’s light to know GOD and what God can and will do for them and how Jesus will protect HIS children from the unseen when they are obedient to every detail of instruction

[11] And as soon as we had heard these things , our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

**as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

    Joshua 2:15 KJV
[15] Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

    Joshua 2:18 KJV
[18] Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by

    Joshua 2:21 KJV
[21] And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

**she bound the scarlet line in the window.

  32. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

If God is for us, who could be against us? We can see how the people of Jericho were terrified and fearful, for they knew that they could not defeat the Israelites because God is with them. Rahab faith and recognition of who God is, saved her family and herself. She found salvation! Let us go and find more Rahab’s and bring them to the light.

  33. 11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token:

Jesus is our one and only, there is no other one like our Lord! God is above us all the time and around us. We shall pray unto our God and promise to our God that since he gives us kindness and love that we shall spread kindness and love to everyone! And speak truth unto everything like our Lord.

  34. 1 And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

Rahab is a great example of the Gentiles being adopted into the family of God. Rahab was a harlot, lier, and Canaanite pagan idol worshiper. None of that matters however to a merciful God. When Rahab saw the spies she hid them because of what she had heard. Later when the Israelites destroyed the city, Rahab would fully convert to God and would marry the same spy she hid from the tribe of Judah. Their son would be Boaz. By reading the Bible we understand that Boaz marries Ruth and a little later in the family tree would come King David and ultimately Jesus would be born from the family tree of this harlot named Rahab.

This undoubtedly gives everyone great hope that God refuses to remember your past but only cares about your future.

  35. 12“Now swear to me by the LORD that you will be kind to me and my family since I have helped you. Give me some guarantee that 13when Jericho is conquered, you will let me live, along with my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all their families.

Be kind at all times. Even to those who may have wronged you. If show kindness you’ll get kindness in return. Be gracious to everyone and ready to serve.

  36. WOW! Think about this…What did Rahab say…She said, “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.”

Think about it, when did they first hear about this? It was 40 years before. What does that mean, it means Israel could have conquered the land without walking circles in the wilderness. They had the victory but thier unbelief stalled the plan of God for 40 years. The people were scared to death but the the 10 spies didn’t take advantage

  37. “Before the spies went to sleep that night, Rahab went up on the roof to talk with them. “I know the Lord has given you this land,” she told them. “We are all afraid of you. Everyone in the land is living in terror. For we have heard how the Lord made a dry path for you through the Red Sea when you left Egypt. And we know what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River, whose people you completely destroyed. No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below. “Now swear to me by the Lord that you will be kind to me and my family since I have helped you. Give me some guarantee that when Jericho is conquered, you will let me live, along with my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all their families.” “We offer our own lives as a guarantee for your safety,” the men agreed. “If you don’t betray us, we will keep our promise and be kind to you when the Lord gives us the land.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2:8-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This shows that Rahab longed for assurance by asked for an oath. She wanted to leave her sinful life and culture and go with God’s people.

  38. 8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 12 “Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign 13 that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them—and that you will save us from death.” 14 “Our lives for your lives!” the men assured her. “If you don’t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us the land.”15 So she let them down by a rope through the window, for the house she lived in was part of the city wall. 16 She said to them, “Go to the hills so the pursuers will not find you. Hide yourselves there three days until they return, and then go on your way.”17 Now the men had said to her, “This oath you made us swear will not be binding on us 18 unless, when we enter the land, you have tied this scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you have brought your father and mother, your brothers and all your family into your house. 19 If any of them go outside your house into the street, their blood will be on their own heads; we will not be responsible. As for those who are in the house with you, their blood will be on our head if a hand is laid on them. 20 But if you tell what we are doing, we will be released from the oath you made us swear.”21 “Agreed,” she replied. “Let it be as you say.”

One of my favorites! I love the fact that we learn here we must never judge a book by its cover. We don’t know who God is going to use to help any of us in time of trouble and we need to be aware and accepting of others. As we read Rahab was used by God and if we break down the story we come to understand that God was working on her and preparing her for such a time as this. These spies are sent out and led to a soul that God has been touching at this time.
This is so perfect for us, because we too should be aware and prepare ourselves for that surprise Harvest that has been prophesied to us, because only He knows what is going on in circumstances like this and He knows the hearts that He is reaching and touching. Why is this one of favorite stories? Because I get to see here that even though we may think at times that there’s no hope, God comes and showers us with grace and turns our life around. Rahab was used by God and became the great, great grandmother of David the King of Israel. What beautiful grace God showed her! Rahab went from harlot to hero and even better she found salvation for her and her family through faith in God. Love it!!

  39. Joshua 2:1 & 11-13 (MSG)
    1) Joshua son of Nun secretly sent out from Shittim two men as spies: Go. Look over the land. Check out Jericho. They left and arrived at the house of a harlot named Rahab and stayed there.

11-13) We heard it and our hearts sank. We all had the wind knocked out of us. And all because of you, you and God, your God, God of the heavens above and God of the earth below. Now promise me by God. I showed you mercy; now show my family mercy. And give me some tangible proof, a guarantee of life for my father and mother, my brothers and sisters – everyone connected with my family. Save our souls from death!

WOW! What a merciful God we serve. It only goes to show, that no matter what walk of life we come from (Rahab a harlot and liar / Me a hurt, angry, suicidal teenager), God will have Mercy on us and Save us.
BUT what really stood out to me in the scriptures was the fact that Rahab was not only concerned about herself being Saved, but she was concerned about her whole family (father, mother, brothers, sisters, and everyone connected with her family) being Saved.
We too, should not only be concerned about ourselves being Saved, BUT we should be concerned about our families, our neighbors, our co-workers, the people we see in the restaurant, the store, and on the streets, being Saved.

Remember: God is no respecter of persons. Everyone has the Potential to be Saved.
    LIVE JESUS – GIVE JESUS

  40. I Love To Worship The Lord

2:11 (Our Hearts Sank) Rahab describes the fear response to God that gripped the others in Jericho, and which contrasts with her own faith response. It is never enough to believe that God exists. That knowledge can terrorize as well as transform. The issue is, what will we do with our knowledge of God. Rahab made the right choice: she would turn to Him and trust Him. We need to help others who say “I believe” see that “believing” is not faith until it becomes personal commitment.

  41. “We heard how the Lord dried up the Red Sea so you could leave Egypt. And we heard how you destroyed Sihon and Og, those two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River. We know that the Lord your God rules heaven and earth, and we’ve lost our courage and our will to fight.”(‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2:10-11‬ ‭CEV‬‬)

(‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:31‬ ‭NLT‬‬) “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” The Lords words are just and faithful they will never change and always come to past for those who trust in him.(Luke‬ ‭10:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬)“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. He will give you the power to tread upon your enemies and will keep you out of harms way for he is merciful and gracious God.

  43. Rehab

A women that somehow in life lost her value and lived a life of unfaithfulness. Her lifestyle choices would take her to places a respectful women should never be. Yet being in these places gave her insight that would help her in a very critical moment.

She knows information that help these men of God and in doing so she used her charisma to gain her life and the life of her family. Consider This… based on her lifestyle she can be considered unfaithful. Based on her lifestyle she can be considered selfish because her desires was put above the fact that she should wait until marriage. Yet even in her character flaws she understood faithfulness and desires to be selfless.

All her life she has heard about a God that was faithful to His people. She put her life on the line to help these men because I believe somehow inside her she desires a change and this was her opportunity. She went from selfish to selfless. The power of God that changes our lives can come from weird moments in life but if we recognize those moments and seize them it will turn our world inside down. Even a unfaithful women cans be impacted by a faithful God.

  44. 18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

  45. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
    Joshua 1:6‭-‬7‭, ‬9 KJV

We are reminded in this chapter to courageous and strong! We are about to step into our promise land. Before we do… many challenges, obstacles, trials, temptations, trouble, and trespasses.
This right here allows us not to only have faith but to activate our faith.

These past two weeks have been challenging for me. Praying to my Lord and trusting in Him in all things. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to stand on a firm foundation!

  46. Joshua 2

Humanly speaking, how difficult was the task that confronted Joshua and the people with regard to entering the land of Canaan? What were some of the obstacles Joshua and the people faced? As the leader, Joshua faced following in the steps of a leader like Moses and leading a stubborn, stiff-necked group of people. All of them together faced fortified cities, giants, and a flooded Jordan. Everything Joshua and the people were called to do, humanly speaking, was far beyond their ability. From the crossing of the swollen and turbulent waters of the Jordan to conquering the fierce, powerful, ungodly people who occupied the land.

Regardless of these obstacles, by believing the promises of God, by applying the principles of God’s Word, and by counting on the presence of God’s person, Joshua courageously moved ahead and secretly sent two men to spy out the land to gather needed strategic and tactical information that any military commander would need to plan a successful strategy for taking the land.

  47. Rahab realized that the Israelites worshipped the true God. She was wise enough to help the two spies knowing that God would help them. So in return Rahab requested that all of her family and herself to be safe when the Israelites would take their land.

  48. “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/1/jos.2.10.kjv
They knew what kind of God he is. They knew he’s a powerful God a mighty warrior. What’s so cool about God is your adversary knows who he is and what he’s about but you as a persona have nothing to worry about when the adversary come fourth cause your God my God our One God will take care of it all.

  49. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

When people hear of the greatness of God it causes them to see how small they really are. God can do amazing things that causes us to see how powerful he is.

  50. “For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan [on the east], to Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. When we heard it, our hearts melted [in despair], and a [fighting] spirit no longer remained in any man because of you; for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2:10-11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Set the example! When we lead by example others will follow us. Just remember others are always watching so as Christians we have to make sure we are living right. How are we to expect others to be faithful if we are unfaithful? How do we expect others to pray and believe in god if we aren’t praying and allow doubt to set in? We want to bring others to Christ so therefore we have to set the example.

  51. “And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the Lord hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What we say is very important. Our word is all we have when our pat actions can’t be proven. If the credibility of our word is broken, teaching the lost and backslidden becomes an even harder task. Thank you Jesus for being a God who keeps His promises. I pray we watch the words that come out of our mouths and keep to what we tell others.

  52. ““I know the Lord has given you this land,” she told them. “We are all afraid of you. Everyone in the land is living in terror.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Is that something that even the enemies are confident of the victory that God has for us in our lives. What the Scripture spoke to me is that I need to have that mentality and that assurance. God has my back he has a plan for me and his word will not return void.

  53. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

Have they heard about the Lord your God?
There is a term in Marketing called WOM short for word of mouth. It is one of the least expensive yet most effective way to let people know about a certain product. The best way to Market or promote, if you will, and get more people knowing and engaged with. So what are you speaking about? Are you creating “buzz” about what Jesus is doing in your life, in your church and for you community. The best way to let the people know is out of your own mouth. It’s pretty simple as let me tell you who Jesus is. Let me tell you what he jas done for me. And allow God to be and do.

  54. “unless, when we enter the land, you have tied this scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you have brought your father and mother, your brothers and all your family into your house.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It is our responsibility to care for our family and make sure they are protected against the enemy. We must do everything possible to make sure they know truth so when the enemy comes to tempt them and death them they are already hidden from his whiles.

  55. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

These Two Sihon and Og fell at the battle of Heshbon. Sihon king of the Amorites wouldnt let Israel pass thru the country and Og the giant brother of Goliath was taken down. When Israel marched with the lords commandment they were unstoppable. If we do the pure word of God in our life we would be unstoppable as well .

  56. 1 And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

Why did these men choose to go to her house?

  57. It’s ok for us to have something that we are scared of. But it’s not ok for us to look at a somethings we know we are not allowed to focus on.

  58. Joshua 2

The two spies Joshua sent were protected by Rahab; who, in return, was promised safety for her and her father’s house when the Israelites seized Jericho.

    Hallelujah!!

Thank you, God, for your protection and provision!!!!!!!

  59. For we have heard how the Lord made a dry path for you through the Red Sea when you left Egypt. And we know what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River, whose people you completely destroyed.
    Joshua 2:10 NLT

When God is before us, who can be against us. What God does for us not only others should hear about it but it should strike fear in to our enemies.

  60. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

News got around to the adversary and they were scared. Lets not get intimidated by our adversary! If Got is with us, who can be against us?
    God will pull us through!
