Joshua 11

And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,

And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.

And the Lord delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

And Joshua did unto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

10 And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.

12 And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lordcommanded.

13 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.

14 And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

15 As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;

17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.

19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.

20 For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses.

21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.

23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

  1. 15 As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

Even after Moses death the commandments of the Lord still stands. The man may leave or fade away but the Word of God will stand regardless of man ability or inability to be present.

What God will do on this earth is not based on one man but men and women of God collectively perusing the will of God with an understanding that they are working for God to establish His Kingdom not their own. Men willing to deal big and give all even if they will not see the end result.

  2. 22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

Even though sometimes it feels like everyday is an uphill battle and every time we take two steps forward it’ll feel like we’ve taken three steps back, there’s going to be days when we feel like giving up because the battle seems never-ending but the Lord has promised to give us rest. Not just when we go to heaven but in between battles there’s going to be times God allows us to sit down and enjoy the life that he has given us. You believe that although the fight is an everyday process but God is more than powerful enough to make a way not only to be victorious but to enjoy peace

  3. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

Joshua was able to divide the inheritance ami g the people and the land rested from war because he had done what the Lord instructed him.

He heard the instructions, he followed the instructions, the people were victorious and given he spoil of the battles. Those were good days!

We can experience the same victories by killing those hinderances/distractions in our lives. Our challenge is we put it away but we don’t kill it. If we allow those “enemies” of our soul to live, it keeps the door open for those thing to overtake us in a weak moment. Cut the head of that distraction, sin, attitude, whatever it is so that it cannot raise up somewhere down the road. We will be victorious and at peace if we follow this example.

  4. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

With God by our side WE are able to conquer it all. God will help us destroy everything that stands up against us. Submission to God and obedience will gives us victory and bring rest. Don’t get tired of fighting the good battle warrior of God, for at the end it will bring joy, inheritance and rest. We are victorious!

  5. 15As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

As the process of the submission to authority and obedience, Joshua did exactly what was commanded of him as given by the Lord. He was instructed by Moses and Moses was instructed by God. Even when Joshua warred for a long period of time, God still rewarded Joshua’s submission to obey Gods commandments. No matter how long it took and no matter what it took to bring victory, Israel was victorious over the kingdoms and took the land as the possession for inheritance.

We find that no matter the size of the enemy, Joshua did exactly what was commanded by God. How funny is it when simple instructions become complicated because the human nature of a person does not want to be told what and how to do things. We have to be keen to the voice of God to do exactly as he speaks to us. If we do not understand or even follow the instructions exactly, we will be blessed but we will not inherit the eternal promise like Moses. It is not difficult to live this life for Jesus so that we can be a vessel that God operates through and win those that need Jesus. We have live Jesus to give Jesus.

  6. 1 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
2 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,
3 And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
4 And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.
5 And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
6 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

When we are in the promise land or just falling where God has led us there will be battles and hard times. The enemy will try to bring everything at us but we must stand. we must be still and know who our God is for if he is with us who can be ageist us?

  7. Joshua 11

6 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them, slain, over to Israel. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots.”

When God commands you to do something He will be there to see you through it !

; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

    99 and a Half Won’t Do!

  8. Joshua 11
6 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them, slain, over to Israel. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots.”

When God commands you to do something He will be there to see you through .

15 As the Lord commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

    Nothing undone ! 99 and a Half Won’t Do!

  9. 8 And the Lord delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

Moses hands over to Joshua that office as leader of the people, to which he had already been designated. He had assigns also to the Levitical priests and the elders, as the ecclesiastical and civil heads of the nation, the responsibility of teaching the law and enforcing its observance. Both these were designed to mark the responsibility of the Leadership concerning after the death of Moses. We as leader’s have a huge responsibility with the Lord and our Pastors. We must be committed if we are going to seize the city of Fort Worth. Stay committed and Live Jesus, Give Jesus.

  10. Obedience , submision to God is Always important !! is God’s will for us to follow Jesus and be righteous . Let’s pray for confidence to overcome conquer anything with Christ , the cross is how it’s done . The stubborn flesh sometimes has other plans , ignorance is dangerous , arrogance is dangerous . Seek God first and his kingdom and don’t be decieved .. Fight the good fight of faith in Jesus name . It’s a lifestyle

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them. By this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel as dead men. Then you must cripple their horses and burn their chariots.” And the Lord gave them victory over their enemies. The Israelites chased them as far as Greater Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and eastward into the valley of Mizpah, until not one enemy warrior was left alive. Then Joshua crippled the horses and burned all the chariots, as the Lord had instructed. As the Lord had commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua. And Joshua did as he was told, carefully obeying all the commands that the Lord had given to Moses. For the Lord hardened their hearts and caused them to fight the Israelites. So they were completely destroyed without mercy, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
    Joshua 11:6‭, ‬8‭-‬9‭, ‬15‭, ‬20 NLT

  11. 16.mSo Joshua TOOK all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;

The enemy isn’t just going to lie down and give up strongholds without a fight. Everything we want must be taken with force; but with God on our side, we can’t lose as long as we stay under submission and are willing to fight.

    Matthew 11:12
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

  12. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    NO FEAR

5 And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
6 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
7 So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.
8 And the Lord delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.
9 And Joshua did unto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

War is challenging and intimidating. We witness similar scenarios today in Israel such as mentioned in this chapter. To fight against Israel. The Muslim nations hate Israel and are a perpetual threat to their peace.

Joshua found himself in a setting as such, kings met together to overthrow Joshua and Israel. BUT GOD. Joshua became a target for those reigning kings, because they feared what Joshua would do to them. Not knowing what lengths GOD would go to protect Joshua and Israel. They plotted, BUT GOD who knows all, sees all and hears all revealed HIS own plan to Joshua and all Joshua had to do was obey the instructions of GOD.

VICTORY belongs to JESUS and if we will respond to the instructions of JESUS given us we will LIVE in HIS Victory, defeat every foe and seize our city.

  13. 9 And Joshua did unto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

Houghed – to cut the tendons of the hind legs so the horse is useless!!

That’s exactly what we need to do to the enemy. When the past tries to sneak back into your life houghed it!!! Cut it at its roots, do not allow it to be useful in anyway!!!

23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

There are generational curses that we need to bring to a stop. Moises could of been the one to step into that promise land but he did not obey completely and was curse to wonder in the wilderness with the rest of that generation but when Moises died Joshua put a stop to that curse and said no more, it is time to stand for what we believe in!! The rest is history for God delivered everything that was promised and more! I am thankful for we are the inheritors of Jesus Christ and His riches are abundant and everlasting!! I can claim them and He says yeah and Amen for I am His child!! Praise be to God!!!

  14. So Joshua took control of the entire land, just as the Lord had instructed Moses. He gave it to the people of Israel as their special possession, dividing the land among the tribes. So the land finally had rest from war.
    Joshua 11:23 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/jos.11.23.NLT

Praise God that the Lord not only began delivering the promise to them but there was rest. Anytime we have been working hard to get something accomplished there always needs to be a time of rest.

  15. 11:2o for it was the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come to Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly , and that they may have no favor, but that he may destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses.
    ———
THE LORD IS UP TO SOMETHING!!!
while the Lord knows what he is doing,
Let us continue to march, to keep on keeping on,
Let us obey God , (be submissive ) and become more and more sensitive to His Spirit and guidance.

  16. Joshua followed the Lord ‘s instructions, and the Lord helped Israel defeat the enemy. The Israelite army even chased enemy soldiers as far as Misrephoth-Maim to the northwest, the city of Sidon to the north, and Mizpeh Valley to the northeast. None of the enemy soldiers escaped alive. The Israelites came back after the battle and burned the enemy’s chariots.
    Joshua 11:8‭-‬9 CEV

Submitting to authority, and obedience will always bring VICTORY over the enemy!

    ‘ Victory is mine.’
    Victory today is mine…

  17. And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

  18. So in verse 6 in Joshua 11 it’s telling me is that Joshua told Jesus is that do not be afraid because for tomorrow I will deliver before Israel and the horses will not have there chairots burned them with fire.
So in Verse 12 it’s telling me is that Joshua said all the people came to war with him then the waters of Merom were suddenly against him then they fell upon him.
So in Verse 13 it’s telling me is that Jesus delivered to the hand of Israel then the Great Zidon chased them into Misrephothmaim then Mizpeh went unto the valley eastward then they were left with nothing remaining

  19. Joshua 11: 15 [Amp] As the Lord had commanded Moses . His Servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.
Being obeinant and submissive to God word is very important to him. We have victory with God.
1 Corinthians 11: 1-2 [Amp] Pattern Yourselves after me ( follow my example) , as I imitate and follow Christ ( the Messiah).
[2] I appreciate and commend you because you always remember me in everything and keep firm possession of the traditions ( the substance of my instructions). Just as I have [ verbally passed them on to you. I love Jesus .

  20. iLove Jesus

Wow, I can only imagine how horrible the battle was. God hardened their hearts so judgement could be poured out. This is the end result of sin and judgement upon that sin. The thing about it is, this judgement wasn’t a one time thing here. Sin always begets judgement in all ages even after the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Remember what the Jewish nation declared while they beat Jesus? They said “let his blood be upon us and our children.” Well, they quite literally opened the satanic door when they said that as the Roman General Titus completely destroyed Jerusalem just about 30 years after they said that. Then Hitler killed over 8 million Jews during WW2.

Conclusion: The wages of sin is death. Let’s all repent and not allow our hearts to be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

  21. “Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them. By this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel as dead men. Then you must cripple their horses and burn their chariots.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This Scripture means that, even though the enemy may be bigger than you, we as The Body of Christ should not be afraid on what the enemy throws at us, but rather trust in The Lord for He will deliver us from our enemies.

  22. 15 As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

Sometimes we change who we serve under, but our “marching orders “ don’t change.
When we are truly submitted to Jesus, our mission remains, “reach the lost”.

  23. Joshua 11:4-8 (NLT)
    4) All these kings came out to fight. Their combined armies formed a vast horde. And with all their horses and chariots, they covered the landscape like the sand on the seashore.
    5) The kings joined forces and established their camp around the water near Merom to fight against Israel.
    6) Then the LORD said to Joshua, Do not be afraid of them. By this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel as dead men. Then you must cripple their horses and burn their chariots.
    7) So Joshua and all his fighting men traveled to the water near Merom and attacked suddenly.
    8) And the LORD gave them victory over their enemies. The Israelites chased them as far as Greater Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and eastward into the valley of Mizpah, until not one enemy warrior was left alive.

It is the job of our enemy/enemies to intimidate us and cause us to fear. Our enemy/enemies may look bigger, talk bigger, or act bigger, BUT we are reminded in vs. 6 that the LORD said, “Do not be afraid of them,” and in 2 Tim. 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
When we put our FAITH and TRUST in GOD, we don’t have to fear our enemy/enemies because the LORD is with us. HE will fight for us. HE is the GOD of our battles.

  24. 15 As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.
    16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

When we’re obedient, we will gain the promises of God. We will walk in favor and victory without having to fear anything or anyone that comes against us!

  25. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

God gave the Israelites enemies into their hand and can do the thing to your enemies. Don’t worry about how big the other side looks because our God is bigger. It’s high time we start believing that God can do anything. He will cause your enemies to flee before you seven ways according to his word.

  26. If Joshua worried about the things that went wrong in last battle even though they won the battle, than moving forward would be challenging and rebellion to God…. Because Joshua did exactly what God has told him and God doesn’t make mistakes and God never misunderstands and there is no confusion in direction from God.

Sometimes we have to pick up where the people before us left off 🌾

    Joshua 11:6 KJV
[6] And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

    **about this time

    Joshua 11:10 KJV
[10] And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

    Isaiah 43:18-19 KJV
[18] Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. [19] Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

    Isaiah 43:21 KJV
[21] This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

    Isaiah 41:13 KJV
[13] For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

  27. 20 The Lord had made all the people want to fight Israel. This was so that the Lord could destroy them all. He did not let them live. This was what the Lord had told Moses.
21 Joshua went at that time to fight the Anakites from the hills. They came from Hebron, Debir and Anab and all the hills of Judah and Israel. Joshua destroyed them all, and all their towns.
22 He killed all the Anakites in Israel, except for a few in Gaza, Gath and Ashdod.
23 So Joshua took the whole country, as the Lord had told Moses. The Lord gave the country to Israel to live in. Joshua gave each tribe its own part. Then the people did not have to fight any more.

    Joshua 11:20-23 EASY
    https://bible.com/bible/2079/jos.11.23.EASY

When we follow and obey the lord our God he will fight our battle’s for us. He will always be with us we have to believe that he is going to be with us and fight our battle’s. Like how the Lord was with Joshua he is always with us, even if we feel like he isn’t with us he will never leaves our side. He will fight for us he will fight our battle’s! We just have to believe and have faith in him.
    LIVE GIVE JESUS!

  28. The Lord told Joshua not to be afraid as he will deliver the enemy into his hands. There were a group of kingdoms wanting to go after the Israelites but Joshua trusted in our Lord even though the odds looked bad. We should never doubt our Lord even if the situation is extremely challenging. Joshua trusted God and He was delivered the enemies in his
    Hands.

  29. 6 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

God is bigger then the boogie man….. Doesn’t matter the size of the enemy or how much he’s bringing to the battle. Remember that God is far bigger and greater then any foe we could ever encounter.

  30. 15As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

I think they had Victory over their enemy because they each obeyed and followed all instructions as God commanded. Nothing wad left undone.

  31. Jos 11:9  And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

And that was the first ever hot wheels. Little did Joshua know the value he was creating on an action the Lord commanded. Haha
For real though. The value of the Lords charge was so much than what Joshua probably imagined. His attitude and his character says I’m just gonna do what God says and if I’m still curious then I’ll ask him after I do what he says. But Joshua always seen purpose after Gods command. I think we should each evaluate our own lives and see why the Lord has charged us to do and just do it to see how well it’s about to play out. He’s got a plan for each of us.

  32. 8 And the Lord delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

GOD IS THE BEGINNING AND THE ENDING OF ALL THINGS!!! HE finishes what he starts!!! HE IS FAITHFUL!!!

  33. 15 As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

Joshua was obedient to God and submitted to his leaders. Even after Moses had passed Joshua did what God had commanded Moses that he should do. What a great example of a leader he was. I read about all these great followers and leaders of Christ and think to myself
when the story of my life is told, I pray that I too may be viewed as one who was faithful to all that God has asked of me. O Lord I want to serve you with an undivided heart and live a life that brings you the glory and praise you deserve for your generous grace…amen

  34. Joshua 11:10-11

    10) And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

    11) And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.

So Joshua didn’t stop with killing those who actively came against him, but smote the leader of the alliance and the leader of his people as well. Then he burned the city.

The Lord God doesn’t do things halfway. Be sure you’re on the right side!!

    Hallelujah!!

Praises be to the Lord God Almighty and His ways!!
He loves us!!!!!! And proves it over and over and constantly, even when we can not see it!!!!!!!!

Thank you Lord God for all your ways and especially for Jesus!!! In Jesus name!!!!!! Amen.

  35. As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

    16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;

Submission and obedience to the commands guaranteed the victory. When the Lord commands you something and has given you orders by the voice of the man of God your choice to obey will be your covering and victory. Imagine if Joshua decided to do his own thing? There story may have been different. Yet instead they got victory from every opponent and enemy becuase they were doing the command of the Lord.

  36. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

It amazes me that the man who finishes the war was Moses faithful servant. We cannot skip the process. We must serve before we are going to be victorious. God wants to see our heart before he trust us with his people and his plan. If you want to be a big part of Gods plan, be a servant first.

  37. 20 For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses.
21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

So, God hardened the hearts of the surrounding Kings with the plan in mind that they would go to war with Israel. God would ensure that the children of Israel would win and possess all the land that he had promised to them. (Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Moses, now Joshua). This is crazy to think. It’s like a movie or stage play. The drama and the build to a climax. It’s quite intriguing.

23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

So then once they took the whole land, Joshua split it up between the tribes. And then they rested from war. They didn’t continue to try to get bigger and better territories. Once they had conquered what the Lord had promised, they stopped and rested.

  38. “So Joshua took the entire land, just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭11:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

After all the chaos, the constant fighting, and constantly being up against somebody there was rest. When chaos and havoc are all you see just know there will come a day of rest.

  39. Verse 6 NLT “Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them. By this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel as dead men. Then you must cripple their horses and burn their chariots.” How awesome to know that the Lord is on your side. The Lord spoke what was going to happen and gave instruction for Joshua to obey. Verse 9 NLT “Then Joshua crippled the horses and burned all the chariots, as the Lord had instructed.” Obedience is key and brought forth peace/rest from war.

  40. “As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭11:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God allowed Joshua to finish the work of Moses. Just because we mess up and have to be replaced doesn’t mean that God’s plan stops.

  41. 4All these kings came out to fight. Their combined armies formed a vast horde. And with all their horses and chariots, they covered the landscape like the sand on the seashore. 5The kings joined forces and established their camp around the water near Merom to fight against Israel.

6Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them. By this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel as dead men. Then you must cripple their horses and burn their chariots.”

Imagine what the army looked like, as far as the eye could see. One would be terrified to face such a large army. But Israel knew, they have had victory after victory, and had confidence no matter how big the enemy was. You too have to face your enemy, and don’t allow fear to set in. For you have God on your side to lead you to victory.

  42. 15 As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

Joshua never hesitated to follow the commands of Moses, even though Moses was gone. He continued follow his commands because it was directly following the Lord. What a great example to us today. If we have received a command to follow, we must stay the course regardless of whether of not the man of God who gave it to us is alive or not!
