Joshua 15

This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.

And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:

And it went out to the south side to Maalehacrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadeshbarnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:

From thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.

And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:

And the border went up to Bethhogla, and passed along by the north of Betharabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:

And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of Enshemesh, and the goings out thereof were at Enrogel:

And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjathjearim:

10 And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Bethshemesh, and passed on to Timnah:

11 And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

12 And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

13 And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.

14 And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

15 And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher.

16 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

17 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

21 And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

22 And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

23 And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

24 Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

25 And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor,

34 And Zanoah, and Engannim, Tappuah, and Enam,

35 Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

36 And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages:

37 Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdalgad,

38 And Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,

39 Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,

40 And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish,

41 And Gederoth, Bethdagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages:

42 Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan,

43 And Jiphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,

44 And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages:

45 Ekron, with her towns and her villages:

46 From Ekron even unto the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages:

47 Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof:

48 And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,

49 And Dannah, and Kirjathsannah, which is Debir,

50 And Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim,

57 Cain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages:

58 Halhul, Bethzur, and Gedor,

59 And Maarath, and Bethanoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages:

60 Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages:

61 In the wilderness, Betharabah, Middin, and Secacah,

62 And Nibshan, and the city of Salt, and Engedi; six cities with their villages.

63 As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.

  1. 13 And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.

14 And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

This chapter describes the land in which each tribe was to get according to the commandment of God. I find that even though Caleb was up in age, he still had the strength to drive the three sons of Amal out of his promise. You see when the promise of God comes through, there is nothing that can stand in your way from receiving it. The only hindrance is our own flesh. We can talk ourselves out of a blessing very quickly. For 45 years Caleb set his mind on the promise of God and he was not going to let anything or anyone stand in his way.

We have to have the attitude to continue to move forward until I get my promise. No devil, no person, no valley, or even no mountain will stand in our way. We have to have that faith to say I won’t stop until I reach it. Having the tenacity and passion to keep going no matter what.

  2. 1 This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.
Our Lord gives us great detail as to what inheritance belongs to each tribe, every little detail matters. We have every detail covered in our life we just have to keep faith, and pay attention to his word.

  3. 20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

There is abundant blessings when we follow God and His Word. He has an inheritance for us to claim if we follow after Him!

  4. 18. And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?
    19. Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

When we are in a dry place, all we have to do is go to our Father and He will give us refreshing, life-giving springs of His Spirit.

    Luke 11:
    10. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
    13. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

  5. Joshua 15 : 18-19 [Amp] When Achsah came to Othniel, she got his consent to ask her father for a field, Then she returned to Caleb and when she lighted off her donkey, Caleb said , What do you wish?
[19] Achsah answered, Give me a present. Since you have set me in the [ dry] Negeb, Give me springs of water. And he gave her the [ sloping field with] upper and springs.
Here Achsah got a new husband. She needed the Holy Ghost the springs of living waters. I love my Holy Ghost.
John 4 :10 [Amp] Jesus answered her, If you had only know and had recognize God’s gift and Who this is saying to you, Give me a drink, you would have asked Him [ instead] and He would have given you living water.
Come all you people and be baptize in Jesus name and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
    Live Jesus Give Jesus.

  6. 16 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

17 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

It has to cost something for you to value it!!!! Don’t get me wrong I do understand that when two or more agree their is much power, but I have seen, and it upset me very much when people ask you for prayer but they don’t pray themselves. I think we need to make an effort into what we want or need. Take one step daily into our goals and then seek help from our brothers and sisters. Because if it didn’t cost you anything you do not value it and take it for granted. I don’t know I guess I’m too old fashion. Don’t take me wrong those that know me know that if they ask for prayer let it be at Walmart or Facebook I will pray right in that moment for them, but if I have enough trust with them I will ask them to pray with me. So God can hear their cry!!! Give me a blessing Heavenly Father!!! I am thankful for His promises that are yeah and amen!!!

  7. 21 And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,
22 And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,
23 And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

While this chapter may not be the most exciting to read I can only imagine what all was going on in order for them to get this land. When God blesses his people they come in abundance, even if it may come at a fight. Not every land that Israel was given came as easily as walking around City or shouting and blowing a trumpet, they had to fight for what God was giving them. A lot of people believe that if God is blessing them and giving them something then it has no cost but the best things in life you will have to fight for.

  8. Joshua 15
18 One day when she came to Othniel, she urged him[b] to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What can I do for you?”

19 She replied, “Do me a special favor. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs

    The Request of a Daughter
Caleb’s daughter makes a request which in traditional customs was not an ordinary request. Daughters were usually given jewels or money as a wedding gift not land. Caleb has just given her land yet she asked for one more thing . Springs of water.
Caleb grants it. This was his daughter. Not only did he give her springs but he gave her more than her request upper springs and lower springs .
What father would not grant a request if it is possible to do it.
Oh how much the Father wants to give to us .
Heavenly Spiritual Blessings and the Natural Physical Blessings. He wants to give us springs of water. Refreshing in the Holy Ghost strength spiritually a spring that has resources of spiritual nourishment. Not just spirit but natural. The care of the Father is so sufficient. I laugh at the springs He provides . Down to some of the most natural cares of life He makes a provision. Springs of life . Springs of encouragement and even fellowship of so much love. Yes Caleb’s daughter went made her request to her father and the father answered.
We have the acquired rights to go before the Father and ask. Thank you Jesus.

    Matthew 7:7
7 “Ask, and what you are asking for will be given to you. Look, and what you are looking for you will find. Knock, and the door you are knocking on will be opened to you.

    • Thank you sis for your comment, when I read it
Specially verses 18 and 19 . Got my attention. And to be honest. That was my thought.

Yet, she has something her dad has given her, and still attempted to ask for one more thing… and the father said yes.🙌🙌🙌🙌

This is a confirmation to me from my Abba father of a prayer, a petition .

  10. 20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.
Our God will never fail us. One thing i am sure of in this life is …Him! When all else fails He remains faithful to his Word, He will look after His children.

  11. iLove Jesus
Couple things I learned today. One is I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard a preacher really quote this chapter with all these cool middle eastern names before. It’s quite the tongue twister for sure. It would have been easier if the names of cities were Dallas, Fort Worth, Azle, Weatherford, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Keller and so on and so on. But another thing I learned is found in verse 19. We find the daughter of Caleb was given as a prize and she had no issue at all with that. The only issue she had was she had a petition/prayer request/blessing that needed attention and so she asked her father for springs of water in the wilderness. “Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs”.

She asked her father for living water and he delivered. Remember, Caleb was the man who said, “Gimme my mountain” and it appears his daughter followed in his footsteps by saying, “Gimme my water”. Great example of asking and receiving.

  12. 15:19 who answered , give me a blessing , for thou has given me a south land, give me also springs of water
And he gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.
    ——
Well, she has gotten something already, and then asked for more…. 🙄😲🤔
    ?????!!!!!!!

  13. 63 But the tribe of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites, who lived in the city of Jerusalem, so the Jebusites live there among the people of Judah to this day.

Why couldn’t Judah not drive the Jebusites out? Because the people of Israel were not fully faithful and obedient to God up to this point. Eventually the Jebusites would be driven out, but not during Joseph’s life time. The point is to be fully faithful and obedient to God.

  14. But the tribe of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites, who lived in the city of Jerusalem, so the Jebusites live there among the people of Judah to this day.
    Joshua 15:63 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/jos.15.63.NLT

My question is why were they not able to drive them out? If they were able to defeat all the other enemies, why not these? Had Judah been lead away from their faith in God enough to settle for this? How long does it takes us to forget His Might and Power? I’m praying for every person whos in a situation they are constantly having to fight through. Don’t give up! Remember who your God is and the He fights for you!! In Jesus name!!

  15. This chapter lists a lot of land and towns for a great number of people and it is just the tribe of Judah. But Caleb’s daughter caught my attention in that she was quick to speak for springs of water to go with the land she was receiving. She had just been promised to any man who took this particular city and that alone would put a woman in a whirlwind of thoughts, yet she remained clear minded and focused on her promise! Our promises may bring chaos with it, but if we keep focused on the final outcome and not the distractions that may come with it, we will be truly blessed!

  16. “As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭15:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

No matter how hard the struggle, with God’s promise, and God’s help, we can be triumph.

  17. Caleb gave his daughter the desire of her heart. He had already given them land, but what good does land do without the water supply to it. Water was and is necessary for survival. Not only did she get what was promised, but she also got want she wanted.

This was an earthly father, blessing his child. How much more God desires to bless his children.

Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

  18. 18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

God’s promises are true and just…. Every “i” dotted and every “t” crossed! You can count on it and take it to the bank!!

  19. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    ASK AND RECEIVE

18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?
19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

We witness the simplicity of generosity. The simple act of asking, netted the BLESSING she requested. She learned this from her father Caleb. She spoke the same words of request that she heard her father speak.

    Caleb said:

Joshua 14:12 Now therefore give me this mountain,

There are 2 powerful principals witnessed here:

    1. Ask and you will receive, you shall have what you say.
    2. Our children will be trained by what we say and do.

Today I say, “Give me a Blessing” I want spings of water.

  20. 19 She said, “Give me another gift. You have already given me land in the Negev; now please give me springs of water, too.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

Take a moment and dwell on all that your earthly father has given you, and IT MAY BE that our HEAVENLY Father wants to give even more. But we first have to ASK!

  21. 18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

If an earthly father desires to meet the needs and wants of those He love’s, imagine how much more our Heavenly Father desires to do!

  22. 7 And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of Enshemesh, and the goings out thereof were at Enrogel:

  23. Joshua 15:19
Who answered, Give me a blessing;; for thou hath given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

God is generous to those who follow Him.

    Matthew 7:7, Luke 11:9
Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Thus does our heavenly father provide for us too. All we need to do is ask Him for springs of water!!

    Hallelujah!!

Thank you, Jesus, for loving us so much!

  24. 13 The Lord commanded Joshua to assign some of Judah’s territory to Caleb son of Jephunneh. So Caleb was given the town of Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), which had been named after Anak’s ancestor. 14 Caleb drove out the three groups of Anakites—the descendants of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the sons of Anak.
15 From there he went to fight against the people living in the town of Debir (formerly called Kiriath-sepher). 16 Caleb said, “I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage to the one who attacks and captures Kiriath-sepher.” 17 Othniel, the son of Caleb’s brother Kenaz, was the one who conquered it, so Acsah became Othniel’s wife.
18 When Acsah married Othniel, she urged him[g] to ask her father for a field. As she got down off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What’s the matter?”
19 She said, “Give me another gift. You have already given me land in the Negev; now please give me springs of water, too.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

As I read about Caleb I understand that he was a “Yes we can” kind of person. He knew they could conquer the cities and in doing this he promised his daughter, Achsah, in marriage. Caleb was a fountain of godly encouragement, positive spiritual influence, and courageous strength to his whole family. Even his nephew Othniel had experienced faith through Caleb’s life, and because of that influence it helped give him that victory over the city and win him a wife. Also not only was Achsah, Caleb’s daughter, she too was a woman of bold faith because of the great influence her father was to her. Wow….
What kind of influence are we to others, to our children? God our father is the best example of influence to us, and reading this specific part that Achsah came back to her father to ask for his spiritual blessing on her life and marriage. Made me see that she knew she needed God’s blessing on her life, and having her father’s influence on her life helped her to boldly ask for the gift of the springs of water. She wasn’t afraid to ask for the best. I too want to always be of Godly influence to others so that my children and my grandchildren can grow up to be as influential as this family grew to be. Guide us Lord always so that we all can be godly men and women who influence others for Your Kingdom.

  26. Joshua 15:18-19 (AMP)
    18) Now it came about that when Achsah came to Othniel, she persuaded him (to allow her) to ask her father for a field. Then she (rode up to Caleb and) dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, What do you want?
    19) Achsah answered, Give me a blessing; since you have given me the (dry) land of the Negev (South contry), give me springs of water, too. So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

Perhaps Achsah thought that since her father, Caleb, had given her (dry) land, IT MAY BE that if she ASKED for springs of water, he would give it to her.
    She ASKED and He GAVE!

IT MAY BE that if we will ASK our heavenly Father, He will give IT to us (whatever “IT” is your ASKING for).

  27. Joshua 15:19
She said,”Give me another gift. You have already given me land in the Negev; now please give me springs of water, too.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

Often I have heard people say I wish that would happen to me, and I have said did you ask God? No was the answer. Ask and ye shall receive! We may not always get all we ask for but if we don’t at least ask, why should we expect blessings?

  28. 18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

  29. Verses 17-19 CEV “Caleb’s nephew Othniel[l] captured Kiriath-Sepher, and Caleb let him marry Achsah. Right after the wedding, Achsah started telling Othniel that he[m] ought to ask her father for a field. She went to see her father, and while she was getting down from[n] her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What’s bothering you?” She answered, “I need your help. The land you gave me is in the Southern Desert, so I really need some spring-fed ponds[o] for a water supply.” Caleb gave her a couple of small ponds, named Higher Pond and Lower Pond.[p]” Caleb knew his daughter and knew something was amiss. God already knows what your thinking and what you really need; but, is waiting for you to ask and trust in Him.

  30. 20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

Every tribe of Israel has their place including Judah. Every bit of land had a boundary to set their limits. Boundaries must be set to let us know how far we can go. If we don’t then things can get out of control.

  31. Sometimes we just have to ask

    Joshua 15:18-20 KJV
[18] And it came to pass, as she came unto him , that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

[19] Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs. [20] This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

  32. Jos 15:63  As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
I’m not surprised that praise dwells with the child of God.
Those two things are hand in glove with one another.

True worshipers inherit the kingdom because they aren’t afraid to slay the enemy that is holding them back.

    Just ask David

  33. The allotment for the tribe of Judah, according to its clans, extended down to the territory of Edom, to the Desert of Zin in the extreme south.

  34. There are so many blessings God has instore for his people. However, we can only part take of it if we be willing and obedient. When serving the Lord, you must learn not to lean to your own understanding. We must trust God no matter what the circumstance. Hod will never lead us wrong and will give us the strength to endure.

  35. 63 As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.

Whatever we fail to drive out could have the potential of being with us for many generations to come. Let us understand that God has prepared a promised place for each of us.

For year they would fight over this land and Israel would have it them it would be lost becoming a cycle. Sounds a lot like a stronghold. A stronghold is something we continue to struggle with having victory at times and then fall back and have to fight for it again. If we learn go drive out the bad and keep it out early enough we would possibly not find ourselves in awkward positions.

  36. 19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

The request being reasonable to her father, it was granted; this shows us that if earthly parents are ready to bestow on their children that which is good, much more will our heavenly Father give every necessary blessing to them who ask Him. All we have to do is ask to our Father who is in heaven.

  37. 18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?
19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

Jesus is poised waiting to give us so much. Sometimes he give us a piece and waits for us to ask for more.
When we seek Him, we ask for the springs and the wells. He causes us to never thirst again, except for him.

  38. God always provides for us. Even when we feel like we are alone he is always there for us and will always be there for us he is the all o might God ! LIVE GIVE JESUS!

  39. Just in the neighborhood

63 As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.

There are things in our lives that we some how just get use to when God said to cut it off. There are some things that we should never get use to. Some things should bother us spiritually to a point that we do something about it. Faith without works is dead. We cannot let some linger at our door step. We have to stand up and take action.

  40. Joshua 15:19 Who answered, Give me a blessing for thou hast given me a southland; gave me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the lower Springs.

I Samuel 25:27 And now this blessing which thine handmaide hath brought unto my Lord, let it even be given into the young men that follow my Lord.

    Praise God! Keep following JESUS

  41. 18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

This passage and that tell how this lady asked of her father a blessing reminded of what the apostle tells us in the new testament about our heavenly Father. Paul writes it this way in his letter to the Ephesians

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
    Ephesians 3:20-21

She just asked for springs of water and got the upper and lower parts.

The same way for someone who genuinely asks for the springs of living water God is more that willing to fill you to you overflow with His Spirit. And also with the answer he gives you.

  42. 5 And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:

Borders, If towns, cities, states and countries need borders …… shouldn’t we as well? That’s why when people ask well why can’t we do this or that…..well we can do everything but not all things are good for us!!! We need boundaries!!!

  43. Achsah had something of her father’s spirit in her – ambitious, vigorous, resolute, quick to seize the present opportunity. Having so lately won his own suit Caleb could scarcely deny her her’s. Through the simple, Oriental form of this narrative we see the working of deep and universal principles of human life. Let us regard it as suggestive of that restless craving of our nature which can find satisfaction only in the realisation of the higher good.
    I. NATURE’S CRAVING. Achsah covets a prize that is as yet beyond her reach. “Give me a blessing. Thou hast given me a south (dry, barren) land; give me also springs of water.” How expressive is this of that yearning of the heart by virtue of which it cannot rest content with present possessions, but is ever reaching forth towards something more, a richer inheritance, a completer blessing, the perfect filling up of its capacity, the sense of absolute blessedness.

    1. There is an appetite in the soul of man which is not only insatiable but often becomes more intense the more it is fed with finite gratifications

When this appetite lifts itself up consciously to the higher level, fixes itself upon the spiritual good, it is the evidence of a new Divine life in the soul

  44. 11 And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

I read this twice yesterday and legitimately could not think of what to write. I decided to sleep on it and come back to it today, that maybe reading it again would spark something. And with all of these boundaries and borders and then the families I legitimately do not know what to write about.

  45. “And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou? Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭15:18-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We often have not because we ask not. Our blessing is waiting for the asking.

  46. Borders and direction

    Joshua 15:8 KJV
[8] And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

    🗺 Asking and Direction

I’m really bad at knowing North, South, East and West , but when you are desperate and you loose you’re sense of direction you will take desperate measures to find direction..
I’m just being transparent these directions and descriptions are a little confusing because I’ve never been there BUT knowing that this is the written WORD of God brings a peace to my heart while I read.
