Joshua 18

And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall abide in their coast on the south, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their coasts on the north.

Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.

But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the Lord is their inheritance: and Gad, and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave them.

And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the Lord in Shiloh.

And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.

10 And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions.

11 And the lot of the tribe of the children of Benjamin came up according to their families: and the coast of their lot came forth between the children of Judah and the children of Joseph.

12 And their border on the north side was from Jordan; and the border went up to the side of Jericho on the north side, and went up through the mountains westward; and the goings out thereof were at the wilderness of Bethaven.

13 And the border went over from thence toward Luz, to the side of Luz, which is Bethel, southward; and the border descended to Atarothadar, near the hill that lieth on the south side of the nether Bethhoron.

14 And the border was drawn thence, and compassed the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lieth before Bethhoron southward; and the goings out thereof were at Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, a city of the children of Judah: this was the west quarter.

15 And the south quarter was from the end of Kirjathjearim, and the border went out on the west, and went out to the well of waters of Nephtoah:

16 And the border came down to the end of the mountain that lieth before the valley of the son of Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and descended to Enrogel,

17 And was drawn from the north, and went forth to Enshemesh, and went forth toward Geliloth, which is over against the going up of Adummim, and descended to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben,

18 And passed along toward the side over against Arabah northward, and went down unto Arabah:

19 And the border passed along to the side of Bethhoglah northward: and the outgoings of the border were at the north bay of the salt sea at the south end of Jordan: this was the south coast.

20 And Jordan was the border of it on the east side. This was the inheritance of the children of Benjamin, by the coasts thereof round about, according to their families.

21 Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, and Bethhoglah, and the valley of Keziz,

22 And Betharabah, and Zemaraim, and Bethel,

23 And Avim, and Pharah, and Ophrah,

24 And Chepharhaammonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities with their villages:

25 Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth,

26 And Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah,

27 And Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah,

28 And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.

  1. Verses 3-5 MSG “Joshua addressed the People of Israel: “How long are you going to sit around on your hands, putting off taking possession of the land that God, the God of your ancestors, has given you? Pick three men from each tribe so I can commission them. They will survey and map the land, showing the inheritance due each tribe, and report back to me. They will divide it into seven parts. Judah will stay in its territory in the south and the people of Joseph will keep to their place in the north.” In reading this, it reminded me of when Bro. Johnson maps out our outreach teams. He will map out the streets that we are to reach and then he sends each group out. Sometimes, we may not even realize what we are doing is actually scoping out the land, treading our territory for the Lord and claiming it. The time is now, the place is here and it’s time to take it.

  2. 8And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh. 9And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh

Joshua gave the men precise instructions for going through the land to describe it so it can be divide into 7 lots for those that yet have obtain their inheritance. This time they wrote it down in a book and described with accuracy. They did not deviate from the instructions. It is amazing to me when you know what God has spoken to you and you tell others what they have to do, and many will hear what the instructions were but will do something that is not exact.

The one thing I have learned from living for God, there is precise instructions that need not be sugar coated or watered down. They might be tough to follow because of our flesh but they are exactly what we need to do. Even when our shepherd speaks into our lives it may be difficult to take but it is spoken with truth and love for our souls. That is the only way to live Jesus enough to be able to give Jesus away to others.

  3. 8 And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the Lord in Shiloh.

They succeeded where their fathers failed. Very similar to the command that Moses gave Joshua Caleb the other 10 men to go into the land and just look at it and bring back a report oh, that’s exactly what these men did however they took no thought on the enemy nor did they consider whether or not they were outnumbered or compared his grasshoppers. They just did they were told. Sometimes we don’t need to know all the details we just need to obey and do what those that God sent have instructed us to do.

  4. Joshua 18
3 So Joshua said to the Israelites: “How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given you?

    Matthew 9:37
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

    Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

    How long will we wait?
God help us all to reach for someone daily .
We can’t wait . We can’t slack off we can’t wait . Father I pray for renewed strength in Your presence to continue reaching and teaching. We must pray daily to take possession the land of Fort Worth for the Kingdom. In Jesus name.

  5. 3. And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

This is no time to be standing around idle when there is land to possess and souls to reach.

    Matthew 20:6
And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

    Acts 1:11
“…You Galileans, why are you standing here staring up into the sky? …” Voice

  6. iLove the Lord Jesus
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

In my opinion, this will be the most commented scripture in the blog today. The reason why is that most of us can relate to it. Many of us are guilty of being “slack to go and possess the land”. Being “slack” is a lot easier than working, fighting, and taking possession.

Outreach is one out of many ways we can possess the land. Let’s go POFW

  7. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

Some miracles require action from the receiver!!!! Sometimes we need to take a step into our miracle. People always complain about going to the altar at the church Nd of church. You can always hear someone say “ why do I have to go to the front God can touch me here”. Yes! God can do the miracle wherever you are but just like on this verse may be He is waiting for you to take a step of action into your miracle. A step that says “I trust you God”! What everyone calls a step of Faith! All we need is in Him so why not run to Him to get it!!! Thank you Jesus for your promises are yeah and Amen!!!

  8. Just like God has a particular Horsham set apart for those that will be true to him. Those that will worship Him in spirit and in truth.

  9. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

Sometimes we need to take action into our miracle! How many times have I heard “why do we have to go to the front? God can touch me here also”! Some miracles require actions from the receiver. If all I need is in Him, why not run to Him to receive it? A step of Faith! That’s all He wants! A step that says I trust you God. A step that shows Him that you believe that all His promises are yeah and Amen. Thank you Jesus for you are All I Need!!!

  10. 18:3 and Joshua said unto the children of Israel, how long
Are te slack to go posses the land, which the Lord God of your fathers have given you?
    ——
We know the Lord has given us promises, we know what those promises are, they are already ours, the Land is ours🙌 ( Fort Worth, our street, our family, the children, …..)
    What are we doing?
It’s not that we are trying to fight thins tho g out…
They were lacking, are we lacking?
    Let’s go do it.
There is not a better a better time, NOW IS the time!!!
    Let’s STAND, let’s take it.
    In Jesus name.

  11. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    GO SEIZE

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

Joshua demonstrates Leadership here. They both know what GOD has said, but the people are not willing to GO SEIZE the Property/Promise that has been given them by the LORD.

This sounds ridiculous that they would not GO. However, we know that there are promises that GOD has made us that we are slack in possessing. It is Leadership to challenge us to our potential and promises.

They could have been hurt and offended, but the Leader took action as he was led, These promises were waiting to be seized and the people needed a challenge, push or kick. However you frame it, Joshua made effort to move the people forward.

I speak to The POFW today to seize promises and move forward in JESUS Name.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo

  12. as We dream of things that we desire it’s good to make note of them and then take them to the Lord in prayer. If it is Gods will, He will provide the direction necessary to accomplish the written goals/vision.

We get into trouble many times because we fail to wait on God, or worse don’t even ask God about those things

  13. Joshua 18 :2 -3 [Amp] And there remained among the Israelites seven tribes who had not yet divided their inheritance.
[3] Joshua asked the Israelites, How long will you be slack to go in and posses the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?
    Seven is completion.
The first thing came to my mind was the spirit of laziness that getting into people. We need to get rid of it in Jesus name. What happen to the burdens of lost souls ! Lord send us labours! To help us reach this city!Every soul matters. Let’s go to church and reach this city. Prayer and Passion are the key words in our hearts. In Jesus name.

  14. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

It is not time to sit back if we are to obtain what God has for us. In order to be a victor, you must be willing to work. When we continue to press forward no matter what’s going on, we see the results of having the victory. Remember, greater is he that is within us, then he that is in the world.

  15. 8 And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the Lord in Shiloh.
9 And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.

These men were careful to follow their instruction-even to the point of writing it down in a book for Joshua. They knew that Israel had wandered 40 yrs in the wilderness because of their bad report to Moses and now they are ready to fully cooperate. No one wants to repeat the hardest lessons learned in life. We can all learn from our mistakes and not have to repeat them! Obey correctly the 1st time!

  16. We may always do what we are suppose to do but we should continue to build our faith and step out to new leaps of growing our faith!

  17. Then Joshua asked them, “How long are you going to wait before taking possession of the remaining land the Lord , the God of your ancestors, has given to you?
    Joshua 18:3 NLT

Well? Some of us get to where we’re going but then do nothing about it. Just like the children of Isreal, they arrived but didnt possess the land. In order to active your promise, you will have to take action! Take a step, make a move, and possess the promise that was given to you!

  18. 2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

Joshua blamed their slackness, and told them how to proceed. So he stirs the Israelites up to take possession of their lots. All they have to do is take the land. He has already blessed us, we must beready to receive it. We must be ready and willing to seize it. It’s our and belongs to us. We must possess the land that He has given us. Let’s take what belongs to us.

  19. Joshua 18:3 (KJV), “And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?”

Joshua 18:3 (MSG), “Joshua addressed the People of Israel, How long are you going to sit around on your hands, putting off taking possession of the land that God, the God of your ancestors, has given you?”

Now is not the time to sit around on our hands and grow slack, slow, tired, or weary. God has much MORE land for us to possess. Let’s GO in JESUS Name!!

  20. Joshua set up the tabernacle at Shiloh to encourage the spiritual life of the people. They had been involved in 7 years of conquest. Until now the tabernacle had not been set up in Canaan. So Israel set it up now that the land had been subdued. The word subdue here has the idea of treading down or placing into bondage the people of the land. Israel also needed a reminder of their deliverance from Egypt. They needed to focus their attention on the Lord again. Therefore Joshua set up the tabernacle in Shiloh which was central to all Israel. He wanted the people to be consecrated to the Lord. He wanted them to focus on Him, for then they would have sustained blessing and contentment. Joshua probably did this to overcome two other problems that had recently surfaced.

  21. Joshua 18:3

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?

When you receive a promise of God, don’t be slack about acquiring it!

SEE it; SAY it; SIEZE it!!!!!

    Hallelujah!!!

Praise the Lord God for loving us so much to give us promises of good things!

  22. The Israelites had gone so far but not all the promised land had been taken. What were they waiting for? Joshua had to address those that had not taken the land yet. At times we all need to be pushed to go forward. Thank God that we have awesome leaders in our church. Thank you POFW leaders. You all help us to move forward especially pastor Watts and sister Gwen.

  23. 10 And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions……..
God enabled Israel to complete their inheritance and acted fairly and gave an appropriate inheritance to each tribe. This should remind us that God will give us the inheritance we deserve and reward us according to our service and faithfulness. I know there has been a time where we are ready to give up, “but” Jesus comes alongside so gently and and lovingly tells us “Don’t quit, keep going, keep your eyes on the prize”. He’s not done with us yet!!
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

  24. Jos 18:2  And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.
Jos 18:3  And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?

    Go and get your blessing.
The basic principals in life are if you want something get after it and take it. It’s true, I can remember running up this hill by church street repeating my opponents name in wrestling. Sounds a fairytale but it’s true and I wanted a championship so bad I went after it and took it. I don’t share that little story to put any eyes on me and my accomplishments but I use that as an example that if you want something bad enough you can get it if you put your mind to it. It just take discipline and grit. Same thing applies in the kingdom. If you want something bad enough you gotta run up that hill proclaiming what you want. So proclaim it. See it, speak it, cease it!

  25. “And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭18:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sometimes we are the reason we don’t have the promise. We have to be bold and we hen God gives us something, we need to take it.

  26. 2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

So, if there were 7 tribes still without their inheritance, that means that only 4 tribes had their inheritance, since Manasseh had 2 and Levi had no inheritance…

  27. What are you waiting on?

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

There are prophesies spoken over our lives that we seem to be waiting on everything to line up and to be perfect for us to go possess it. If we are waiting on everything to get perfect we will never do it. Now is the time to possess the land. Get up and do it

  28. Joshua addressed the People of Israel: “How long are you going to sit around on your hands, putting off taking possession of the land that God , the God of your ancestors, has given you? Pick three men from each tribe so I can commission them. They will survey and map the land, showing the inheritance due each tribe, and report back to me. They will divide it into seven parts. Judah will stay in its territory in the south and the people of Joseph will keep to their place in the north.
    Joshua 18:3‭-‬5 MSG

This passage reminded me of preaching from pastor about a year ago now. You have to position yourself to recieve it.

Yes there are promises and blessings, but the action must take place. You have to move in the way that God is moving and position yourself to recieve what He has for you. You can just sit and wait, but you must do and “wait” serve.

  29. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

How long are you going to sit around? Your promised inheritance is right there you just have to go get it…
How many times have blessing and opportunities have been right there, all we had to do was go get it?

  30. 2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

Have you received a promise from God and it has been a long time and you are wondering why you haven’t received it yet? Then after reading these scriptures, is there anything you can do about it?? Can you do a few things to move along the process?? Can you do something to prove to God your willingness and ability to do it?? Maybe if you could do so, then you get your blessing or promise. Not all promises are given immediately or without our own work involved. Some promises come with conditions. God will give you these promises after you have completed these tasks.

  31. 10And there at Shiloh, Joshua cast sacred lots in the presence of the LORD to determine which tribe should have each section.

Even men of God should seek guidance from God, from their bishop. The authority figure in your life provides guidance to mature you, and you make proper choices in life.

  32. And the whole congregation

    Joshua 18:1 KJV
[1] And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

    Everybody moving together
