Judges 5

Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.

Lord, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.

The mountains melted from before the Lord, even that Sinai from before the Lord God of Israel.

In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.

The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?

My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the Lord.

10 Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit in judgment, and walk by the way.

11 They that are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the Lord, even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the Lord go down to the gates.

12 Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.

13 Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the Lord made me have dominion over the mighty.

14 Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, among thy people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer.

15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.

16 Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.

17 Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and abode in his breaches.

18 Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.

19 The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.

20 They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.

21 The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength.

22 Then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones.

23 Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the Lord, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord against the mighty.

24 Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

25 He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.

26 She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples.

27 At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

28 The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots?

29 Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself,

30 Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours, a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take the spoil?

31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

  1. 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

    Go ahead and speak it.
Let all thine enemies parish and clear the way. I can remember when i was a kid i was terrified of the dark. I mean absolutely terrified I couldn’t even take the trash out and my step dad thought i was making excuses but really i was afraid. I can remember my mom telling me that all i had to do was say the name Jesus and demons would tremble. So I’m hear to tell you that you can confess your enemies to parish just by speaking the name Jesus

  2. Praise him in a song. Your enemies will fall and faith will rise . When you sing to the LORD yolks are destroyed and your spirit is ready to receive what he is offering. Praise the Lord at night , praise the Lord during the day . Praise him

  3. 31So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

This chapter is all about the song of Deborah and Batak. The things that were reminded that forced them into the position they were in to begin with. But with all obedience give back to serving the Lord they were able to sing of victory.

So many times when the enemy comes in, we automatically want to start speaking defeat and we get beat up pretty bad. When we can sing praise as we go into battle with the enemy, we can defat them because of our praise. Scripture states enter his gates with thanksgiving and into courts with praise. The lord inhabits the praises of his people. And if we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people then why would not we want to give praise if the promise of victory was already promised. So don’t give up we have to keep moving the kingdom forward. Live Jesus to give Jesus.

  4. This chapter is the victory song of Deborah. As it states in the VOICE version “God takes ordinary people with their gifts, strengths, and weaknesses—and brings military victory through the unexpectedly strong hands of women.” God can use anyone who is just a willing vessel.

Joshua 1:9 NLT “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Judges 5:31 VOICE “So may all Your enemies perish, O Eternal One! But may those who love You be like the sun, rising and going forth with power! After this victory, the people knew peace from war for 40 years.” It is time to rise up and take your place! LIVE-GIVE JESUS.

  5. 1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

2 Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

3 Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.

4 Lord, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.
It’s always good to praise God for whatever victory he has won for you. When we are praising him remind him that you are greatful for the times he pulled you out of your situation. We have to be willing to give God that authority in our lives in order for him to work in our lives. Submit to God at the end of the day there’s nothing greater than salvation.

  6. Thank you Jesus, another day that the Lord has made.

“ Lord , may all your enemies die like Sisera! But may those who love you rise like the sun in all its power!” Then there was peace in the land for forty years.
    Judges 5:31 NLT

  7. Judges 5 :24 -26 [Amp] Blessed above women shall Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, be; Blessed shall she be above women in the test.
[25] [ Sisera] asked for water, and she gave [ him] milk; she brought him curds in a lordly dish.
[26] She put her [ left] hand to tent pin, and her right hand to women’s hammer she smote Sisera, she smote his head, yes she struck and pierced his temple.
Wow you talked about a bad temper that she had. There are good women and bad women we all need Jesus to help become what he made us to be.
Be a,servant anywhere you go. Go and be Church.

  8. 12. Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.
    13. Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the Lord made me have dominion over the mighty.

It’s time to wake up, sing, and take our captivity captive – and the Lord will make us have dominion!

    Ephesians 5:14
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

  9. “Lord , may all your enemies die like Sisera! But may those who love you rise like the sun in all its power!” Then there was peace in the land for forty years.
    Judges 5:31 NLT

We have the power to overcome, we just gotta activate it. Walk in obedience and praise the Lord through all things. God is faithful to see you through!

  10. 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

When we follow Jesus, he will give us rest.

  11. 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

What is it going to be at the end will we died in the name of Jesus or will we died in the name of this world . You may ask what do you mean by this , let me explain across the country many there are Christian’s dying for their faith Christian’s are being put in jail because they are preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ reading these articles made me realize there’s only one way and that way is Jesus.

  12. 1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

2 Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

God is faithful and will see you through your victory. Sing praises to the Lord when you have voctory but also during a process of hard times. He is ways there.

  13. 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

Let your enemy perish, but if you love Him let your light shine bright!!!! You should be a beacon to the lost. You can’t let your light shine by complaining all the time, or by gossiping, and planting division everywhere you go. If you love Him His Light should shine in everything you do!!! Testify of How the enemy fell, how it got destroyed, how the yoke fell from the neck because of His anointing and was destroyed. Dance in the freedom that the Lord has given you! Sing about what the Lord has done! SHINE WITH THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE HOLY GHOST FIRE!

  14. 5 The mountains quaked in the presence of the LORD, the God of Mount Sinai—
in the presence of the LORD, the God of Israel.

As the mountains quake, this is a signal to Israel, the one and only real God is coming and making his presence felt. All those other gods can’t do anything. God wants you to feel his presence at all times.

  15. iLove Jesus
20 They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.Wow! What a great song of victory.

We get some behind the scenes understanding with verse #20. Here we see that the battle was lead by Deborah but the battle was won by the angels of the Lord. Notice the Word says, “the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.” This is speaking about the angels of the Lord fighting the battle. Then to clarify, verse 23 identifies the angel of the Lord. This is good stuff here. If God is in the battle, we will not lose.

  16. 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

It is not the will of God that would be fighting the enemy all the time we must learn to rest and find peace within the Lord. We might not be able to relate to fighting a physical battle on the field but we can relate to the task toll that it takes on us as we fight. We must learn to enter into his rest with Thanksgiving and praise as much as we enter into his courts with Thanksgiving

  17. Judges 5:1-2, 9, 16-17
    1) Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying,
    2) For the leaders who took the lead in Israel, For the people who volunteered (for battle), Bless the LORD!

    9) My heart goes out to the commanders of Israel, The volunteers among the people; Bless the LORD!

    16) Why (Reuben) did you linger among the sheepfolds, To hear the piping for the flocks? Among the divisions of Reuben There were great searchings of heart.
    17) Gilead remained beyond the Jordan; And why did Dan live as an alien on ships? Asher sat (still) on the seacoast, And remained by its landings. (These did not come to battle for God’s people).

Yes, VICTORY is wonderful, but it comes through Great Leaders and Volunteers who will GO to battle.
I’m so Thankful for the Leaders at POFW, and I’m Thankful for every Volunteer who works under and with these Leaders. It takes us Working together to fight the battle.
BUT we need to pray for those who linger, sit still, and remain unmoved to help.

We got Great Leaders. We need more help. VOLUNTEER! Everyone can be used for the Kingdom of God and to fight this battle.

  18. Judges 4
consider 11 the voice of the singers[b] at the watering places.
They recite the victories of the Lord,
the victories of his villagers in Israel.
“Then the people of the Lord
went down to the city gates.
12 ‘Wake up, wake up, Deborah!
Wake up, wake up, break out in song!

From the depths of the heart songs are written . From blues, western to praise and worship. No matter what genre someone has penned something that was birthed either from pain or victory.
People are moved by music. Babies are soothed by lullabies, women giving birth by symphonies , cancer patients to Alzheimer’s patient . Music has soothed one said the savage beast of the soul!
Songs of Victory The Israelites wanted Deborah to sing the song of victory.
The enemy has been defeated ! Write it ! Sing it! Proclaim it!
Rest will come ! Peace will come !

  19. 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

Deborah and Barak are singing this victory song here. She feels a sense of motherhood toward Israel and identifies it in verse 7 that “The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.” When no one stood up she did and like a mother willing to care for her people. She rejoices with Barak after he receives the revelation of God’s will. All these events lead up to 40 years of rest for their land. Obedience and unity will bring on this sense of peace.

  20. 1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,
2 Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

After every battle, after every win, after every struggle in our lives we should sing a song unto the Lord! Not only to Him but offer up His praises to those around us as well. Anytime someone’s finds out that we were without jobs for a few months, I see that as an opportunity to brag on my God. I always state that in that time we never once went hungry or were in need of anything! He supplied all of our needs. Did it get tight? Absolutely. But everything was always supplied, we didn’t always know where it would come from, but it would always come. Sing His praises at any chance possible.

  21. 24 Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

An enemy lay dead at the feet of a brave woman who was not afraid to do what needed to be done in order for the people to have victory and the land to be at peace.

It’s time for the women of God to rise up and wage war in the spirit so not only there is victory in their homes, but also an attitude of continual victory in the Church Body. It’s because of her actions that the land was at rest for another 40 years. She did what was necessary for that to happen.

Am I willing to do what is necessary spiritually for my home to be at rest? For there to be peace? For there to be spiritual victory?

The song of victory is so sweet. Let it be heard from the rooftops so others will know my land is at peace and victorious.

  22. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    A SONG OF PRAISE

1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,
2 Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.
3 Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.
4 Lord, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.
5 The mountains melted from before the Lord, even that Sinai from before the Lord God of Israel.

We learn of 2 Key Kingdom principals in this chapter.

    1. In verse 2 we learn that JESUS avenged his people Israel when “they” (the people – Israel) willingly offered themselves. We must be willing to engage and invest in the BATTLE, HARVEST or MIRACLE to experience and receive HIS Promises.

    2. Mountains melted from before the LORD. This testimony in the Old Testament esablished FAITH for the New Testament Promise.

Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

Lets be engaged and involved in what JESUS is doing in these last days and lets choose to speak to the mountains before us that they melt as Deborah sang of.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    IGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  23. Joshua 5: part of verse 31

….let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might….

Pastor Watts keeps telling us to have and show joy, so that others can see the Lord God reflected in, and so from, us.

    Hallelujah!!

Praises to the Lord God Almighty who loves us!!!

  24. “On that day Deborah and Barak son of Abinoam sang this song: “Israel’s leaders took charge, and the people gladly followed. Praise the Lord!”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Leaders are nothing without followers, and it is the job of the people to willingly offer themselves to their leaders.

  25. 2 Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

When they won, Deborah, Barak, and the army , they gave all glory and praise to the Lord. The will, the power, and the success were all from Him. He deserves all of it!

  26. Our Lord , we pray that all your enemies will die like Sisera. But let everyone who loves you shine brightly like the sun at dawn. There was peace in Israel for about 40 years.
    Judges 5:31 CEV

Every battle is won when you allow the LORD to take control and lead the way. I choose to stand back watch the hand of GOD at work as I sing praises and glorify His Name!

  27. Jueces 5:3-5
    ” Oíd, reyes; escuchad, oh príncipes;
    Yo cantaré a Jehová,

  28. 31 “Lord, may all your enemies die like Sisera! But may those who love you rise like the sun in all its power!”

Deborah’s song proclaimed victory as she and Barak had defeated Jabin and his army. I believe she pictured God’s people as being like the sun whose heat grew stronger as the day got longer. What a an amazing song, and even more amazing the way the Lord was able to use this women for His purpose. I think that she not only just sang about this victory but also her life experiences and what a beautiful way to sing and describe the amazing power and goodness of God. Sing it we got victory through Jesus!!

  29. ““For the leaders who took the lead in Israel, For the people who volunteered [for battle], Bless the LORD!”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭5:2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

It is one thing to call yourself a leader, it is another to actually be a leader.

“For many are called, but few are chosen.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Those that are chosen are the ones that are willing and obedient to put in the work and sacrifice it requires to lead.

“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  30. Judges 5:31 “So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but [let] them that love him [be] as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.”

This began with praise to the LORD, and ends the very same way. The battle is won, there is peace and rest for forty years. The battle of good and evil rages on for all ages. Jesus won the victory for all believers at Calvary. He defeated sin and Satan at the cross. He defeated death, when He rose from the grave. He has made life everlasting available to all who will have faith enough to receive it.

  31. ““ Lord, when you set out from Seir and marched across the fields of Edom, the earth trembled, and the cloudy skies poured down rain. The mountains quaked in the presence of the Lord, the God of Mount Sinai— in the presence of the Lord, the God of Israel.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭5:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This Scripture means that, let our enemies tremble at our feet, because The Lord has already given us the victory for The Lord shall bring his presence so our enemies shall flee and Know The God Our Lord.

  32. There was victorious singing from Deborah and Barak as the blessings of God was with them. We should give God praise and worship especially when He has performed such victories for us.

  33. 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

We can overcome anything in the name of Jesus! You just have to believe and be obedient to the Lord. He will always be helping you overcome even when you don’t think it.

  34. In the days of Shamgar son of Anath,
    in the days of Jael, the highways were abandoned;
    travelers took to winding paths.
    7 Villagers in Israel would not fight;
they held back until I, Deborah, arose,
until I arose, a mother in Israel.
    8 God chose new leaders
when war came to the city gates,
but not a shield or spear was seen
    among forty thousand in Israel.
9 My heart is with Israel’s princes,
with the willing volunteers among the people.
    Praise the Lord!

  35. 13 Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the Lord made me have dominion over the mighty.

God will give you dominion over your enemies. When God is on your side and you abide by his word then all you di us win. Even when it may seem hopeless, God will cause you to prevail over your enemies. I’m thankful I serve a God that has all power.

  36. 24 Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

Being a blessed woman of God does not mean we have to be timid and passive. I believe women should have class and be graceful but I guess in some situations my roots spring out of me and I become a little godly “ghetto” when it’s time to defending my church, myself, and my family against the enemy. By all means and with much prayer I will do so.

  37. ““Israel’s leaders took charge, and the people gladly followed. Praise the LORD!”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭5:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When everyone finds their place in the Kingdom and work together thats then things flow. When we all work together and fulfill our responsibility we will see the same victory.

“Stay calm; mind your own business; do your own job. You’ve heard all this from us before, but a reminder never hurts. We want you living in a way that will command the respect of outsiders, not lying around sponging off your friends.”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:11-12‬ ‭MSG‬‬

  38. When the mother arises

7 The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

When the church ( the mother) is satisfied and at rest there is no teaching going forward there is no one to turn the city over. When the church arises here city will too. It is time for the church to arise.

  39. 13 Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the Lord made me have dominion over the mighty.

We can do NOTHING without GOD!!! HE KNOWS ALL THINGS!!! NOTHING happens without HIM knowing as a matter of a fact NOTHING happens without HIS permission……

  40. 31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

God will always take are of his people, his children. He will not be mocked. We have to learn to rest assured in His love and protection. He will not leave you nor forsake you. He will be with us till the end. No matter who or what comes against you, when you abide with him, in his presence then he will ensure that you have all you need. From protection to provision and blessing. He is good to us.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
    Psalms 91:5‭-‬7 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.91.5-7.KJV

  41. “On that day Deborah and Barak son of Abinoam sang this song: “Israel’s leaders took charge, and the people gladly followed. Praise the Lord! “Listen, you kings! Pay attention, you mighty rulers! For I will sing to the Lord. I will make music to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭5:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Leadership is important especially in the work of God. God expects leaders among His people to actually lead, showing there is a genuine need for leaders and their leadership.
Leaders are nothing without followers, and it is the job of the people to willingly offer themselves to their leaders.
We can think of the relation between leader and people as that of the conductor and the orchestra. The conductor must lead, and the orchestra must be ready and willing to follow the conductor’s leadership. When the conductor does his job and the orchestra does their job, then beautiful music is made.
Same with us, if we follow our leader and we work together for the same vision, we will have the best harvest anyone has ever seen.

  42. 19 The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.

20 They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.

God moved through Deborah and Barak and raised up the children of Israel to fight against the oppressor. But God did not expect them to fight alone. He was their help and their strength and also fought with them and for them. He us our ever present help in time of trouble. He can calm the storms of life. Just call on Jesus-he knows what we have need of even before we ask. We serve The Mighty God!

  43. Judges 5 begins with Deborah and Barak singing praises to their God, who had overcome their enemies for them.

Joyful times arose when Deborah arose in Israel as a mother. She sang historical records and praises to God.

She cursed those who did not come to help Israel, and blessed those that did, namely Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite.

They even gloated over Sisera and how his mother was waiting for him to come home, but he was killed in battle.

After their singing, they prayed all Israel’s enemies perish but those who love the Lord to be like the sun when it shines in his mightiest form. Israel had rest of their enemies for 40 years.

This is chapter five, short and still sweet.

We pray the Father to add blessings to the reading and doing of His Holy Word through His Son Jesus the Messiah. Amen
