1 Samuel 22

David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.

And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.

And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)

Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;

That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

10 And he enquired of the Lord for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.

12 And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

13 And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?

15 Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.

16 And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.

17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord.

18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

19 And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

20 And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

21 And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the Lord‘s priests.

22 And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.

23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

Whenever it may seem like you are at a dead end and you feel like the world around you is crumbling we have to do like the prophet told David to do: we have to go into praise no matter what are situation may be, if we just stop and praise god in the middle of our valley god will always deliver us out of our struggles and tribulations.

  2. 13 And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

David a man of God. Seeing the hand of the Lord on David is a faith builder and reading about it has me to believe that anyone that desires the Lord is safe from harm. A man, a king, a crazy wacko man is after David and whoever associates with him but he cant be touched because there is the hand of God over him. our mentality today should be to walk with boldness and courage because the enemy cant touch us by no means at all. Seek him and he will cover us.

  3. Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

  4. Then Ahimelech answered the king, “And who among all your servants is as faithful and trustworthy as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, and who is captain over your guard [and your confidant], and is honored in your house? Did I just begin to inquire of God for him today? Far be it from me! Do not let the king impute any guilt to his servant or to any of the household of my father, for your servant knows nothing at all about this entire matter.” But Saul said, “Be assured that you shall die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s household (extended family).”
    1 Samuel 22:14‭-‬16 AMP

Pride and Jealousy will take you to a dark place, If you allow it to. Saul is more concerned about his position and cares what people’s perception is of him …king saul’ was led by his emotions and no longer has a sound mind.
If only he would have gone back to the ONE true GOD in all things, his hands would not be filled with innocent blood!

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps. It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
    Proverbs 16:9‭, ‬12‭, ‬18 KJV

  5. Proverbs 11:19 – 21
Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live,
but he who pursues evil will die.
Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the LORD,
but those of blameless ways are his delight.
Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished,
but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.

The heart becomes crooked when there is conflict between what God has said and what our flesh says.

Saul despised David’s anointing. It’s so easy to sit and look around at others and their walk with God. We let the devil sit on our shoulder and cause discord among the brethren. In these times we don’t have time to entertain the false accusations of the enemy. It’s time that we take our stand and unite in mind and one accord to further the Gospel among the chaos of today.

Where do I go when there’s nobody else to turn to?
Who do I talk to when nobody wants to listen?
Who do I lean on when there’s no foundation stable?
    I go to the rock
    I know he’s able
    I go to the rock

I go to the rock for my salvation
I go to the stone that the builders rejected
I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me
When the Earth all around me is sinking sand
On Christ, the solid rock I stand
When I need a shelter, when I need a friend
    I go to the rock

  6. 14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?

Isn’t funny how it angered Saul that the priests not knowing the situation were blamed for helping David escape. Sometimes the world will try to convince their selves that the church wants to harm them or even when the Lord wants to save them. It is amazing to see how the world will turn things to justify what they do even if it contradicts the word of God. I find that when we do good for the kingdom it will allow the blessings of God in our lives. No matter what the enemy brings toward us Gods hand will protect us.

  7. 1 Samuel 22 : 23 [ Amp] Stay with me, fear not; for he who seeks my life seeks your life.
But with me you shall be safe- guarded.
It’s doesn’t matter what the enemy brings, God is still going to protect us. He is our shelter and our protecter. Lift up your and glorified him and let his light in us.

  8. 17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me.

How far has Sail gone from the Lord that he order for to kill the priest and all his family. The regular Jewish soldier wouldn’t do it. They knew Saul was very wrong giving that order so Saul went to the foreign soldier and he massacres everyone and everything. Except for one that escapes to David. Now, David realizes how far has Saul gone. I am so glad that Jesus died for my sins and that if I were to go far from God it will take just one action of repentance and I would be praying m my Fathers arms again. It’s never too late, you have never done too much bad and ugly like my friend used to say, and like I told him in just one second with repentance JESUS will welcome you back!!! Thank you Jesus for loving us so much.

  9. 23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

The safest place to abide is in the Will of God. He knew David was walking after God and he chose to fall into line with that. We all have a choice; just like the servants of the king, just like Doeg. The servants knew better, Doeg was deceived.

  10. 1Samuel 22

2 1-2 So David got away and escaped to the Cave of Adullam. When his brothers and others associated with his family heard where he was, they came down and joined him. Not only that, but all who were down on their luck came around—losers and vagrants and misfits of all sorts. David became their leader. There were about four hundred in all.

    The Misfits
    Forgotten People…………..
As I I was teaching this week someone said ‘We are the forgotten people’. David became the leader of losers ,vagabond s and misfits. all sorts .
We must adhere to the call of leadership and lead. They are in the streets , they are in the prisons , they are all around us. Though David was running for his life he still had to lead . David had been distressed low and even confused. Running to the cave was probably his best move . Solitude away from the world. When David separated himself from Achish and Gath, he was richly rewarded by God when supporters he never knew came to him. They are going to come from everywhere. Yes there life will be totally different , their living opposite of yours. Yet they can become a mighty army that God Himself may be trying g to equip for His Kingdom. Before we judge someone I must take a look at myself and see what am I doing for the Kingdom . David was anointed to be King yet he is running like a fugitive. By now he may even have the appearance of a vagabond. These people came out of desperation and they could connect right with a king who had found himself in the same situation. God will use a mess to build a message . It just might take a mess to reach someone who had been searching a long time. My pastor’s wife Lorene Green told me a long time ago when someone is desperate they will not even see the stack of dirty dishes sitting on the counter . They have ran to you for help and it’s time we forget about the perfection and reach for an imperfect world. In God’s kingdom there is s place for everyone.even the misfit and that misfit May just be the one that leads a mighty army .
I just want to Live Jesus so I can Give Jesus isn’t that what we’ve been called to do .

    David’s reply
“Stay with me; don’t be afraid; the man who is seeking your life is seeking mine also. You will be safe with me.”

So yes God can take messed and turned them into a message! I may not have it all together all the time but I know a God WHO Does….His Name is Jesus

  11. 1 Samuel 22:3, “And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

“Till I Know What God Will Do For Me”
If you are going through a situation (trial or test), and you don’t “Know What God Will Do For You,” the best thing you can do is have Faith in God. Psalms 37:3-7, encourage us to Trust in Him, Delight in Him, Commit our way to Him, Rest in Him, and Wait patiently for Him.
So just Stand Still and See the Salvation of God at work in your life.

  12. Saul was full of envy and jealously. Those things have completely engulfed him. He cares not who suffers or is destroyed at this point. He just wants to get at the one he feels is his greatest threat. There’s so much danger in being in this state of mind.

  13. 22:!19 and Nob the city of the priests smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women children and sucklings, and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
    ——
It’s ridiculous on how much damage someone can do in anger…
Rage can cause someone to do stupid things that sometimes can be fatal as we clearly see it here.
👉 A sword was used in this fatality .

    I have a sword!! Yay!!😀
( Oh Lord, that I may learn your ways…🙏)
That sword is mine, and I learn how to use it everyday
And I try it. And it gets sharpened with practiced.

I posses it, it’s mine, i Did not know that one day I was going to own it. But HE Gave it to me.
Thank you Lord for your word. Teach me Lord
    Guide me Lord
Reveal your word to me as I read it everyday.
    Hallelujah!!!!
    Hallelujah!!!!

  14. 17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord.

Praise God that these men would not turn on the priests as instructed, instead they should have turned on their wicked king and followed David. However, there is always an evil person to so satan’s bidding. God had a plan for David and it didnt include taking the throne as yet. Rather, he became the leader of outcasts. He will learn to trust God and follow him closely during the worst days of his life. We must follow his example. No matter what life throws at us, we must seek God, trust him and follow his direction.

  15. 22 And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.
23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

as the church, we must continue to walk stronger every day together. We have the same adversary who seeks to devour us but we serve the same God who seeks to protect us. Instead of wasting a lot of our time going against each other off legalistic views or technicalities we should be building one another up and becoming a safeguard to each other. We have more reason to stand tall together then to be divided on our own. Power and unity

  16. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
What a very sad situation we have here with the priests of the Lord being slain. 80 people were slain because of David deceiving the priest. But in all fairness to David, it was blood on Sauls hands not blood on Davids hands. If Saul would have been righteous he would have never made judgement against innocent people. These scriptures can help those who blame themselves for the actions of others. Each person is responsible for their own actions.

    • Thank you!
Shame is a difficult emotion to rid ones self of even if you are not the guilty .
Thank God for His redemption …

  17. When his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him. And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gather to him. So he became captain over them.
    I Samuel 22:1-2

David’s heart for God made him a great man.
He was a great leader because of his inner circle.

He made his inner circle great, and his inner circle made him great.

Follow our man of God and we can gain experience and grow in leadership.

  18. You can either use your clout to inspire or to conspire.

I feel that all of us have the ability to use the power of speech in a unique way to touch someone’s heart

I feel that David never let go of his vision and relationship with GOD

I feel like David was sent into a pack of wolves
But thank GOD for HIS protection…

    1 Samuel 22:5 KJV
[5] And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

    Matthew 10:16 KJV
[16] Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

But thankfully he knew and trust his GOD

    Matthew 10:14 KJV
[14] And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

  19. 2 And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

The situation of the country, which was becoming more and more melancholy under Saul, drove men to seek a leader from whom they might hope for better things for the future. David did not send away these refugees, many of them distinguished and prominent Israelites, but organised them into a military force, that grew up to 400 men to 600. That’s leadership he organized the people and lead them. Here was an opportunity to take the lead, we must be the same as David. When the opportunity comes take it and lead. Not for your advantage, but to make disciples to lead people to Christ.

  20. At times the world seems as if it is at an end but the world does not give away only at the sound of God, he will always protect you.

  21. 3 And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

if God speaks to us we should listen and do what he said for us to do and he is the one true god and he is our king and father god bless yall

  22. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    WHO KILLED THE PREACHERS?

17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord.
18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

We find a valuable and powerful lesson in this passage. The evil spirited Saul, in his GOD forsaken rage of flesh, demonstrated pride and arrogance in calling for the death of the priests.

We must understand that the priests were commishioned and commanded to report to and obey GOD, not man or king. There are occasions that Preachers are required to obey GOD and kings and governments will not agree or approve.

Consider the innocence of the Preachers. They were unaware of the secret hatred of Saul toward David nor the reason for the request of the sword by David. The innocent Preachers were blamed by the rage of Saul.

Also of note, the spirit of anger and rage will cause deceptive througts to drive the spirit of evil. Notice what Saul said of his own son Jonathan:

    TLB
8 Is that why you are against me? For not one of you has ever told me that my own son is on David’s side. You’re not even sorry for me. Think of it! My own son—encouraging David to come and kill me!”

13 “Why have you and David conspired against me?” Saul demanded. “Why did you give him food and a sword and talk to God for him? Why did you encourage him to revolt against me and to come here and attack me?”

Saul believed that The Preachers and his son were conspiring to kill him. Rage will cause man to believe every lie of satan. The preachers were inocent and David and Johnathan were trying to escape the rage of Saul.

    BUT

    WHO KILLED THE PREACHERS?

In verse 17 we witness wise servants in the fact that they refused to and rejected the plea of Saul to kill the PREACHERS. This should be the approach of every SERVANT of the LORD they would not put their against the preachers. But we witness it often in our day that church families or servants of the LORD will lift their hand against the PREACHERS through slander, accusation and gossip. We are wise to learn from this passage. Notice that Saul did not judge them, he simply moved on the next option.

    NLT

But the soldiers refused to harm the clergy.

18 Then the king said to Doeg, “You do it.”

So Doeg turned on them and killed them, eighty-five priests in all, all wearing their priestly robes. 19 Then he went to Nob, the city of the priests, and killed the priests’ families—men, women, children, and babies, and also all the oxen, donkeys, and sheep.

    Doeg.

    What was different about Doeg?

    His name means “fearing”

    Doeg = Fearing

Doeg was able to kill 85 preachers, their families and their possessions because he was driven by the spirit of fear. He feared Saul more than GOD, he feared government more than GOD. Fear hath torment.

1John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Fear will cause people to KILL the PREACHER with their sworded tongue, venomous words and deadly lies. Be prayerful in this season of isolation that you continue to hear the voice of The PREACHER in your life.

    • Pastor so true. We must combat false accusations towards ministry. Even at the cost of losing a friend,
      Psalms 105:15
“Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”

  23. 1 David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.

2 And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

God had given David authority when he was anointed as king, even though his time had not yet come to reign. People could feel that pull and gravitated toward him, as a leader.

When the favor of the Lord is upon us, as a leader, people should naturally gravitate to us. We are our testimony, everything we say and do tells of our relationship with the Lord. If we fall, others are watching and could fall as well. So let’s march victoriously, leading people in a manner that would be pleasing to the Lord so that those who are watching will follow suit.

And should trouble come our way, we can say like David “23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.”

  24. 17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord. Thank you Jesus

  25. 23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

Abiathar was now in the same circumstance as David, on the death list of Saul. For this reason David will protect Abiathar, David feared not because he knew that God would protect them from any harm. We too, must know that as long as we serve God. We shall have no fear, God is our shepherd and we have all that we need in Him.

  26. 17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me.

Sauls hate and jealousy for David was soooo bad he sent footmen to kill the lords priest and all the animals and all the women and children just for one guy

  27. “So David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. Soon his brothers and all his other relatives joined him there. Then others began coming—men who were in trouble or in debt or who were just discontented—until David was the captain of about 400 men.”
    ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭22:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

David was leading 400 men who were in trouble, in debt or discontent… That doesn’t seem like anyone’s first pick of men, but David led them anyway.

  28. 3Later David went to Mizpeh in Moab, where he asked the king, “Please allow my father and mother to live here with you until I know what God is going to do for me.” 4So David’s parents stayed in Moab with the king during the entire time David was living in his stronghold.

We all should take the time to care for our parents. As parents age, they probably will not tell you they need help, but be aware of their situation and health. Honor your parents, and lend a helping hand.

  29. David was anointed by God. Saul was jealous and wanted David killed. Due to the fact that David was led by our Lord and saviour 400 men followed him. God had His plan and David was kept save even though Saul wanted him dead. Remember that God’s plan will prevail!

  30. Verses 1-2 MSG “So David got away and escaped to the Cave of Adullam. When his brothers and others associated with his family heard where he was, they came down and joined him. Not only that, but all who were down on their luck came around—losers and vagrants and misfits of all sorts. David became their leader. There were about four hundred in all.” In these trying times, I am so thankful for both my immediate family and my church family, who is right there…praying for one another, encouraging one another and helping one another.

Romans 12:10-18 AMP “Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor; never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord; constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ], steadfast and patient in distress, devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength], contributing to the needs of God’s people, pursuing [the practice of] hospitality. Bless those who persecute you [who cause you harm or hardship]; bless and do not curse [them]. Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others’ joy], and weep with those who weep [sharing others’ grief]. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty [conceited, self-important, exclusive], but associate with humble people [those with a realistic self-view]. Do not overestimate yourself. Never repay anyone evil for evil. Take thought for what is right and gracious and proper in the sight of everyone. If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

  31. 1 Samuel 22:1-5
The view from the cave can be a dark and lonely place. The surrounding walls of the cave can block your perspective. The view from the cave can sometimes be depressing but it does not mean that God is through with you or that God has forgotten His promises. God’s delays are not necessarily God’s denials. Jesus also went into the cave. He was crucified, dead and buried in the tomb. That was a very dark day for His disciples. All of their hopes and dreams were crushed when Jesus was crucified. All of their future plans lay buried in the tomb with Jesus and that view from the cave was dark. But wait….. three days later Jesus rose triumphantly from the grave and fulfilled God’s plans!!! So remember when your life seems dark, when certain dreams or plans lay broken at your feet, let’s remember that God is still God. He has good plans for your life and that view from the cave is not all that God has for you. Even if you are in the cave due to your own sin or mistakes, no matter how bad you or I may mess things up let’s remember God is still bigger than our sin or mistakes. He always has the last word and will fulfill His plans for your life if you will trust and follow him.

  32. 2 All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.

3 From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab, “Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?”

    1 Samuel 22:2‭-‬3 NIV

David’s love for God made him a great leader, he followed and obeyed Him and became a great leader. He let God show him and lead him in the right path and he was used by Him to be a leader. When we open up our hearts and give it all to Him, we can be used in many ways.

  33. 21 And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the Lord‘s priests.

Saul was crazy and wanted all the power and he knew he couldn’t have all the power because God was on the throne above him and he envied David because David was in tune with God. Abiathar and David were safe because God had a plan, like he always does.

  34. 20 And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

Abiathar saw his families getting killed so he left to David because he knew David was walking with God and God was protecting him so he ran to David willing to get to have a chance with the Lord. We have a chance to chose to be with the Lord, it’s important that we chose to be with the Lord because no matter what he forgives us and is always protecting us and we are very loved by the Lord.

  35. “Then he left them with the king of Moab; and they stayed with him all the time that David was in the stronghold. Then the prophet Gad said to David, “Do not stay in the stronghold; leave, and go into the land of Judah.” So David left and went into the forest of Hereth.”
    ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭22:4-5‬ ‭AMP

David was in trouble. He made sure his family was safe and then went back to hide from Saul. However, when we are tested, no victory comes from us hiding ourselves. Our victory comes from our praise, hence David was told to go to Judah. Our praise is our weapon and confuses the enemy. I thank God for the freedom to sing His praises. I pray we all have a praise on our lips and rename unashamed to praise Him.

  36. 12 And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub.
But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord

We should not be trick by lies of people because they are wickedness can make it seems that we are small.

  37. A safe place

23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

There are people in our lives that you know you can count on. People that no matter what is going on, you know they are there for you. In such times as we are in now, we have to figure out who they are and keep them close.

  38. And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me….

And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
    1 Samuel 22:3‭, ‬5 KJV

Till I know what God will for me.
We know that David was in distress. Perhaps, a bit confused, since he finds himself now running for his life but some time ago, the man of God, the prophet had anointed him to be king over Israel. Yet this doesn’t make sense right? He did everything right. He was faithful, and fearless, boldly trusting in the Lord for his battles and deliverance. Yet know he finds himself running, and hiding, and does not know what will be of him. Yet there is this “word” this prophecy spoken over his life. This truth that seems so far from reality that the current situation. However he still had some hope, some expectation in the God of who he trusted. “Till I know what God will do for me.” He had seen the deliverance of the Lord in many times before. Yet his reality was so dark this time. So troublesome. Could he have been thinking of that time he was anointed and that Word spoken offer his life? Till I know what God will do for me. He still believed that somehow, somewhere this God, his God, could still do something for him.

And of course the Lord answers and gives a word through the man of God. And the first thing, or the first word, or could we say direction from God was to get out of the cave and come to the land of Judah. And come to the land of praise.

Till I know what God will do for me. We too, often times, may find ourselves in an dark cave and everything may seem to be going against us. Well your direction can come from a word of God from the man of God. But remember this first step God had directed David through the man of God, get out of the cave, you dark situation and come to the land of praise. So till you know what God may do for you, just start praising. Start lifting the one which can and will do something about your situation. He still saving, still delivering, still chain breaking, He’s the same God.

  39. And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord.

When faced with the trial of following the Kong’s orders or killing the priest they new it wouldn’t be good to carry out those orders. Loyalty is important and in trying times we all tend to see where ones loyalty is. I want it said of me that my loyalty was with God and not the hatred and sinfulness of someone else. I know when I’m on His side I win!

  40. 2 And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

This sounds so fitting for our current world situation. There are now so many more people in the world that are in distress, so many more people in debt more than before, so many more people discontent with life itself, and they are looking for a captain. They are looking for a change. They are looking for someone to take charge. We must be ready as a church once the holds are lifted and those that are distressed and discontent start flicking to God’s House. We must be ready church.

  41. “And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.”
    ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭22:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You have to do what the man of God is telling you to do. Sometimes we understand and other times we don’t, but we have to do what he says.

  42. 21. And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the Lord’s priests.

    22. And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.

It’s easy to blame yourself when those connected to you make mistakes, but each of us have to make our own decisions and live with the consequences. Don’t beat yourself up for the choices of others that you have no control over.
