Acts 5

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

21 And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

22 But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told,

23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

24 Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

  3. 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

Ananias has his possession yes, and when he sold it he needed to give the money to the lord all the money, but he didn’t! I like how it says “was it not ok Rhine own power?” Because when we make mistakes it’s in our own personal power that we made the mistake not anyone else’s! When we make mistakes it’s not making a mistake towards the church or a certain person it’s making a mistake unto God.

100% we need to look at our actions and correct every mistake.

  4. Never lie to God you could end up dead ,and don’t disobey, also fear God more than anyone don’t be afraid to die for JESUS because he died for you. We must not be afraid to share the Good news to world and the Good news is JESUS is alive and well and he is the messiah.

  5. Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

  6. So in Acts Chapter 5 verses 5 and 6 its talking about how Ananias gave up the ghost and she gave up great fear that arose the young men and wounded them up and carried them out and buried amen

  7. 17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,
18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

  8. 38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

This is the greatest statement that we can have in our spirit in this time of panic and fear. If it be of God, you can not overthrow it. We have to find some sense of faith and power through our trials and know that the hand of God is on us if we have been born again and baptized. We have to trust God no matter the circumstances, no matter what this world thinks of us.

The Lord is trying to get our nation’s attention, trying to turn them from their wicked ways. But until America turns from the wickedness, the Lord will not heal this land. The church will have to continue to be a refuge for those that come seeking saving. We have to have the boldness to stand against negativity and to use the word of God as a foundation. We have a great harvest that is coming to the land. As our great evangelist states all the time, everyone is going to heaven, but not all are staying. We have to prepare the way for those coming to god. What a great responsibility that the church has. But with the power of God comes that great responsibility. We have to live Jesus no matter what.

  9. 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

God is in control of everything. His will be done. Fighting against Him is a battle you can not win.

  10. 32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

This verse really speaks volumes. God has all ordained us to be witnesses and to witness to those who are lost in world, we have been given a power by god that no man can take away and it is up to us to be obedient to god and to follow his will and to do the work of his kingdom because it is in being a humble and obedient servant where we find favor with god.

  11. Thank you jesus for this glorious day i ask that all my prayers will be answered in jesus name amen.

    God bless yall.

  12. 40. And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

    41. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

    42. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

    Luke 19:
    39. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

    40. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

    Can’t stop praising His name
    I just can’t stop
    Praising His name
    I just can’t stop
    Praising His name, Jesus

  13. Act 4: 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

I went back to chapter 4 because I believe that the main problem of Ananias and Sapphira lies on Act 4. This problem is commonly know. In the USA as keeping up with the Joneses here the Joses. It is my opinion that they never really wanted to do it but since many believers sold their possessions and laid the money at the apostle’s feet and Joses sold their land they didn’t want to be out given. Instead they finished dead. I love the fact that before we give our church prays that God speaks to our hearts, but it is up to us to obey the voice of God. I know of a couple of time that God has dealt with my heart and I have not listen but my conscious is so strong I didn’t make it to the parking lot when I have come inside and done the right thing. They died because their heart was not in the right place when they gave, because they didn’t want to do it in the first place, and all they cared about was appearances. It wasn’t like they were ordered to do so, all the land was theirs, if they didn’t want to give it all they didn’t had to, but their heart was only looking to be admired for their deed, and conspired to cheat God. If only they would of come with a humble heart and told God “we sold it for this much and wanted to keep this much for ourselves and give this to you. What a different kind of story would we have been reading about them for God says in James 4: Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Our God is so GOOD to us! Praise the Lord!

  14. Acts 5:29
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
    Acts 5:30
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
    Acts 5:31
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
    Acts 5:32
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
    Acts 5:41
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

What a privilege it is to serve the King of Kings and be filled with the holy ghost. My prayers go out for those that desire the holy ghost and have yet to receive it today. Not everyone gets it on their first try and that truly could diminish faith i would imagine. So that fact that most of us have the holy ghost we shouldn’t count a second of our day bad because He is merciful and just and he will do what he says. God is all knowing all providing He said you provide the fire ill provide the sacrifice well here we go fill me up God. Don’t let the words of others discourage you for serving the God we can’t physically see because keep this in mind at least we can physically feel the presence and at least we can physically see miracles being done. Aren’t you glad you serve an awesome God. lets have some church in Jesus name!

  15. So many things to learn from this chapter this morning. The beginning story of Ananias and Sapphira, shows how these two not only conspired to lie to men; but, to God, when they made an offering of their leftovers. Verses 12-16 talk about the faith of these people as they brought the sick into the streets; faithfully believing that they would be healed and they were! The end of the chapter talks about the apostles not bowing down to men; but, being overjoyed at being given the honor of being dishonored on account of the Name (JESUS). The apostles could have been angry at the whipping they had just experienced; but, if God was giving Israel the gift of a changed life and sins forgiven, who were they to be nothing but merciful too.

Ephesians 4:31-32 MSG “Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.” Let us also be merciful (forgiving) as we LIVE-GIVE JESUS!

  16. 39But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!”

The Word of God has stood the test of time for thousands of years. Men have preached the Word when facing adversity. Just believe and God will give you victory. The 39But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!” will find themselves fighting a losing battle against Go.

  17. and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus. (‭Acts‬ ‭5‬:‭40-42‬ ESV)

Even through all the trials and the severe beating they still had JOY. And we have another reminder that they went everyday to the temple and house to house teaching and preaching. I’m so thankful for my source -Jesus Christ.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭22-23‬ ESV)

  18. Acts 5
9 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”

40 His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. 42 Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.

    Opposition is already here.
We cannot stop teaching and proclaiming the good news . Salvation is in the Bame if Jesus .
We must guard what we believe and not allow anyone to persuade us any differently. Hold on to the Word . We must keep sharing it.

  19. 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

This just goes to show what happens when you hold stuff back from the Lord. Not only are you showing a lack of faith that God will provide but your also lying. Giving God 100% is alway s going yo be short compared to what he has given what he gives and what gave to me today.

  20. 38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

I wonder if sometimes we don’t realize how much power is with us well we are going through a difficult time. The apostles had been taken under custody beaten and commanded not to speak … But God was still with him while they were suffering because a Pharisee stood up for them I told the whole kelso that God would deal with them if they were not doing what they were supposed to do. There’s so much for us to take from this story including allowing God to deal with things that are not in our control. When we suffer, God is still with us and if we are not doing what we’re supposed to be doing God will take care of it. We can also heed the Pharisees words for ourselves when it comes to dealing with people outside of the things we are typically used to. Let God deal with those who claimed they’re speaking on behalf of him oh, if they are wrong but God will judge it and if they are right God will be with them. sometimes it is not our position to determine whether or not what someone is doing is of God but rather looking at the fruit of what they are doing.

  21. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    THE DANGER OF DISHONESTY

3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

We have better understanding of the situation when we read the final verses of chapter 4.

34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35 And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Everyone is sacrificing and giving to the work of GOD. Peter had no idea of the amount of the sale. But, he could recognize a devil. Ananias on the other hand perceived himself to be lying to man, cheating the church or selfishly withholding. Whichever it was, Ananias in his own mind was exercising his own right, of selling property and giving it to the church.

Based on chapter 4 they were all giving the entire amount to the work of GOD, but this family chose to withhold some for their own pleasure. Rightfully thinking that no one would ever know. BUT JESUS who knows all things took offense to their DISHONESTY and chose to judge them immediately.

While I have never witnessed this personally, this one account is enough for me. I chose honesty. Honesty in all aspects of life, but especially in regard to financial commitments to the work of the LORD. Commitments such as Missions Pledges, Building Fund Pledges, 40 Days of FIRE Pledges, We take them all very serious and will suffer at home before we short the work of GOD.

Be prayerful about commitments, but be more prayerful about being HONEST when you appear to be honest but are not. It could be deadly, physical or spiritual. I pray The FIRE will burn out any dishonesty in our hearts that would tempt us to lie to the man of GOD or the Church, because the all knowing, all seeing GOD knows the TRUTH.

  22. Acts 5:9-10 [ Amp] Then Peter said to her, How could you two have agreed and conspired together to try to deceive the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of those who have buried your husband are st the door, and they will carry you out [ also].
[10] And instantly she fell down at his feet and died; and the young men entering found her died, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
Don’t lie, Be honest in everything you do! Everyone has something to do for the Lord. The more closer you get to God , The more you are going to do for him. Thank you Jesus.

    • 19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

      …..

38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

When you have a mandate and calling from the Lord there is nothing that can stand in your way. He will make a way and open doors that no one can shut.

  23. Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
    Acts 5:20‭-‬21‭, ‬29‭, ‬31‭-‬32‭, ‬42 KJV

We have been given a command to GO preach and teach everyone about the good news. We have a great testimony. So why just keep it to yourself. We are surrounded by people that need hope. Don’t stay silent, allow the name of the LORD to be GLORIFIED in all things.

  24. 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

Satan had entered the heart of Ananias the moment he birthed a lie in his heart to repeat to Peter. The land was his to begin with, he could have kept all of the proceeds, but instead he lied about the sale of the property He was posing as a “saint” having all things in common like everyone else, but instead he had allowed selfishness and sin to enter his heart, which in the end cost him his life and the life of his wife.

Sin will always cost us more than what we calculate. The old song says sin will take you further than you want to go and cost you more than you plan to pay. We must keep the guard up around our heart, so that we don’t foolishly allow satan entrance in the tiniest of things.

  25. Thank you Jesus Christ for today , let’s bless his name

We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.”
    Acts of the Apostles 5:32

  26. This chapter shows how important it is to tell the truth. The husband and wife thought they were just lying to a man, but they were lying to the Holy Ghost. Don’t get caught up in trying to deceive because the Bible tells us that after sin is finished, it brings forth death.

  27. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Regardless of where they were and what happened they continued to preach to Jesus. I find it interesting that the first thing that happened in this chapter is two people that lied and conspired against the Holy Ghost and received death. Then we find great men whose life was an example of God and God kept His hand of protection around them. I want to be truthful to God in all things and show and teach others through my life that the hand of God would continue with me and others will know Him.

  28. 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

The apostles did not preach themselves, but Christ. This was the preaching that most offended the priests. But it ought to be the constant business of POFW to preach Christ: Christ, and him crucified; Christ, and him glorified; nothing beside this, because He is the one who changes people’s lives. Live JESUS Give JESUS 🙏🙋

  29. In this chapter I learned that Peter and John went to prison because they we teaching about God. But even though they were still in prison, they still began to teach about God’s word. They said that they would always put God before any man. We should always put God first in all of our lives.

  30. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

We must be careful to always tell the truth. One time when I was teaching Youth Sunday School at the south campus, I asked the students, “How many of you have lied this week?” The whole class raised their hand. Most folks are under the impression that lies are no big deal. Lying is a big deal, in fact the Bible clearly informs us that the devil fills those who choose to lie. It’s kinda like this, when we are at church and feel the anointing and pray in the Holy Ghost, that is God’s presence. But when we lie, the devils presence fills us. Hard to believe? Well that’s what happened to Ananias and Sapphire. Peter said satan filled their heart.

  31. 5:38,39 so in the preset case I say to you; stay away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan of action is of men,it will fail and be destroyed, but if it is of God
[ad it appears that itis] you will not be able to stop them
Or else, you may even be found fighting against God.
——We ( the church) children of God.
If we read His word, seek Him( His face) and being led by His Spirit, then we will be walking in His ways and doing His will( commands, works…)
Then nothin will be able to stand against us and prosper../

  32. I learned that you don’t have to people I learned in Acts 5 that Peter and John went to jail, someone let them out, then they went to the temple to teach and preach.

  33. “Then Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than men [we have no other choice]. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross [and you are responsible]. God exalted Him to His right hand as Prince and Savior and Deliverer, in order to grant repentance to Israel, and [to grant] forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has bestowed on those who obey Him.””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭5:29-32‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Always obey god regardless of what men may say. God has the final say. If we are obedient to what he has is to do he will have our back 100%. We must submit to him despite what man may have is to do.

  34. 30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them

God gave them their opportunity to understand and obey his new testament and they were stirred but not converted. They hardened their hearts against the truth yet Gamaliel had the wisdom to speak and say if this is of God you can’t overthrow it. I believe the time of favor is come to the church to do signs and wonders so there will be a great harvest of souls. These miracles drew thousands and God will do it again in these last days.

  35. There is a hard lesson to be learned here. If you are living for God then all lies are to him. There is nothing that should be called a little white lie, a lie is a lie. One should think Jesus before telling a lie. This to me also puts a damper on planning and plotting. This is what the couple that was instantly judged did and they were judged immediately.

  36. 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. 6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. 7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. 9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. 10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. 11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

We read that Ananias and his wife decided to do the same thing as Barnabas did. But the only difference was that they had the wrong spirit. To me this story helps open our eyes to the mercy and grace of God towards us. We forget that God’s mercy and love are designed to lead us to repentance, not to become bolder in sin. When we experience hands on God’s love and mercy it makes even more sense to know the magnificence of His glory, the greatness of His mercy, and the might of His power. So as disturbing as it may be to read that they died we come to understand more and more what we are saved from daily. So each day that we wake up and go about our daily routines is a gift of His mercy. It is the undeserved favour of God shown to us. Each day is one more day of mercy gifted to us. THANK YOU LORD for your undeserved mercy upon us.

  37. 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

  38. 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

There is no such thing as a white lie very lie is a sin and can get you in more trouble in this case he died

  39. Just before this we see Barnabas sell his land and give it at the apostles feet. Now we see Ananias and Sapphira seem to do the same thing. But there is a problem. Peter was shaken in the spirit. He says something strange to them. Is not he happy that they are giving? He says

4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

Peter says you owned this piece of property and when you sold it you should have just told the truth and told us that you were giving part of the money but you needed to keep part of it. The problem was not of how much they gave or even the percentage of what they gave. The problem was they lied about it.

God is not impressed with our giving, he owns all of it anyways. The obedience and sacrifice of it is where we are blessed. This is why you can not compare your giving to anyone else. You and God know how much it really cost you. He’s looking for those who will give without looking around to see who is watching, give from your heart and God will accept it.

  40. Vs-29
I Love To Worship The Lord
Then Peter AND the other. apostles answered and said We ought to obey God rather than men.
Peter makes it clear we are to obey civil goverment but when it goes contrary to the explicit commands of God we must obey God and be ready to suffer the consequences

  41. Acts 5:42, “And daily in the temple and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”

    “And DAILY”
In the temple and in every house, they taught and preached JESUS DAILY!”
    “The FIRE’ never burnt out.

May “The FIRE” on my altar never burn out. LIVE JESUS and GIVE JESUS DAILY!!

  42. “But a man named Ananias—his wife, Sapphira, conniving in this with him—sold a piece of land, secretly kept part of the price for himself, and then brought the rest to the apostles and made an offering of it.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬
Clearly, both husband and wife were partners in the deception. They both wanted the image of great generosity, without actually being remarkably generous.

  43. 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

The Will of God will always prevail. God has a plan and a purpose if we will put our faith and trust in Him!

  44. “But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭5:29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This Scripture means that, we should obey The Voice Of God than the voice of men that is where are Faith is tested would we obey God or men

  45. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Ananias and his wife lied to God and because lied they died. So we should not lie to God.

    -Jacob

  46. 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

What we are facing now in our time, where many and many people don’t believe in God and mistreat those who speak of Him. Is just a little taste of what greater is to come. We must be prepared to be beaten for Him. There is No greater joy, to know that every insult or mistreat is for His Glory. Among the multitude there is a soul that will be saved and all is well worth it. Let us brothers and sister continually teach and speak Jesus to those around us.

  47. vs 29″ We ought to obey God rather than men ”

We must remain true..to the full New Testament salvation plan of repentance of sins, water baptism in Jesus ‘ name for the remissions of sins, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues.

  48. Acts 5:29 But Peter and the Apostles replied, We must obey God rather than any human authority.

God never changes, His words are true as He is perfect. Man on the other hand is far from perfect! Always trust in the Lord Jesus.

  49. “We gave you strict orders never again to teach in this man’s name!” he said. “Instead, you have filled all Jerusalem with your teaching about him, and you want to make us responsible for his death!” But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.
Acts of the Apostles 5:28‭-‬29 NLT

Never be afraid or scared to stand up for who you believe in. No matter what kind of opposition faces you God is always faithful and He will bring you out even if you face human authority.

  50. 38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

The Lord and his word in more important than what others have to say about us. We have to be fully committed to the Lord no matter what we end up going through, because God will always be next to you through it. The Lord has amazing plans for us, let us give him all our faith and trust. Spread his word everyday be a witness in his wonderful miracles!

  51. 2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

First of all conspiring to lie to God is sin. It’s foolish because He owns all the riches that the world has to offer. This is like moo b

  52. It happened in New Testament

Ezekiel 6:3 And say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God ; Thus saith the Lord God to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys; Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.

Don’t put GOD into a box and touch not HIS anointed and HIS CHILDREN

When the world comes against you stand strong in the will of GOD.

    Daniel 3:12,17,25 KJV
[12] There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. [17] If it be so , our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. [25] He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

  53. 19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
    Hallelujah

  54. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” NIV

Have you ever wondered why YOUR plans aren’t working out? Maybe it’s because you’re fighting against the will of God! Be patient and let God work!

  55. Acts 5:1-5 But a certain man name Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, and Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing In thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

Anania’s sin was not that of keeping back part of what he sold , but his hypocrisy about it.

Always tell the truth, keep your Fire burning on the altar so you do not lie to God!

  56. ““So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!” The others accepted his advice. They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭5:38-40‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God will punish the wicked only and not the good because the apostles were only doing God commands. God did not let the apostles die. We to know if we our in the victors side. Pray and ask God if we are doing his will we can’t go against His will.

  57. And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

  58. But one member, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, who was an expert in religious law and respected by all the people, stood up and ordered that the men be sent outside the council chamber for a while. Then he said to his colleagues, “Men of Israel, take care what you are planning to do to these men! “So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!”
Acts of the Apostles 5:34‭-‬35‭, ‬38‭-‬39 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.5.34-39.NLT

We cannot be to quick to shut someone down. We never know if it’s being orchestrated by God. This is why asking God to order our steps each day can be crucial at times!

  59. “Now Joseph, a Levite and native of Cyprus, who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means Son of Encouragement), sold a field belonging to him and brought the money and set it at the apostles’ feet.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:36-37‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Now a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, and with his wife’s full knowledge [and complicity] he kept back some of the proceeds, bringing only a portion of it, and set it at the apostles’ feet.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Here we have two instances of sacrifices being given unto God. Both gave money to the apostles after selling their land BUT one gave honestly while the other gave deceitfully. The result of their sacrifice were exact opposites. Ananias and Sapphira lied about their sacrifice into the Lord and in result dropped dead. Barnabas gave honestly, and if we continue reading, we will see that God used him mightly. Barnabas stood by Saul when no one else dared. He traveled from city to city teaching of God’s miracles, signs, and wonders to everyone. Him and Saul were the first to preach to the Gentiles and They made sure to boast God and not themselves when confronted by the people. Acts 11:24 described Barnabas as “ … a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith …”. Barnabas was given life to spread Jesus!

I thank God that He is faithful to His word that says He will render to Everyman according to his deeds (Romans 2:6). I pray we take this wisdom and resist offering strange fire unto the Lord.

  60. 17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

Indignation and pride, can cause so many problems in a person’s life.

  61. Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

  62. 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

How many times have you done wrong and hid it from God’s sight?? Could you imagine being called out in front of the whole congregation?? This would be an extremely embarrassing and sad day. And then to find out that not only was it hidden but also that your wife was in on it too. And agreed.

  63. “And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her
    husband.”

  64. 15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

The size of ministry that Peter and the apóstoles we’re called exceded any single man capacity. The apóstoles understood that if they were to minister to everyone in my need, they were going to have to get creative &)

  65. “Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭5:38-39‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When your purpose is ordained by God there is nobody that can stop his work through you!

  66. 38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

If it be of man it will die out but if it be of God nobody can stop it. People will come against us sometimes when we talk to them about God or they see that we don’t do things of this world, but they will never win in doing so because God has all power in heaven and earth to crush the enemy, and we have the same power in us through him today. Thank you Jesus for giving us your power in this life.

  67. 20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

I love that we are commanded to go and speak to the world. I have been noticing that the more I talk to people about the lord, the more I realize that I feel better when I do. Some people don’t want to be preached to, and that disappoints me, I just want them to feel what I feel, and to know the joy, happiness, and love that I feel. I then think about the how many other people in the world aren’t even allowed to preach, and I am thankful for living in a country that still allows it. Hallelujah Praise Jesus.

  68. At times in our lives we will need to give and receive mercy. It is these times that it is important to remember one of the true missions was to show mercy. Regardless of trespasses or issues that we know God will show us mercy as we show that unto others as well. This will also be more of a witness to those around us and strengthen our own core with God.
