Acts 6

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

Happy 6th day of 40 day of the fire 🔥

  2. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
    Acts 6:7‭-‬8 KJV
It’s time for revival don’t miss it

  3. 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

  4. Thank you Jesus for today

Stephen received a great blessing. God gave him power to do great wonders and miraculous signs among the people.
    Acts 6:8

  5. Verses 3-4 MSG “So, friends, choose seven men from among you whom everyone trusts, men full of the Holy Spirit and good sense, and we’ll assign them this task. Meanwhile, we’ll stick to our assigned tasks of prayer and speaking God’s Word.” These verses reminded me of what Pastor preached last night, as God has planted each of us and given us certain tasks that he is giving us the ability to do for his kingdom. We can all be leaders in whatever tasks the Lord is giving us. Each task (job or responsibility) has its importance in the work of the Lord.

Colossians 3:23-24 AMP “Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [greatest] reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you [actually] serve.” Let us all express good leadership skills/qualities in whatever tasks we are assigned as we LIVE-GIVE JESUS!

  6. Acts 6

1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

  7. So in Acts Chapter 6 verse 1 it’s talking about how the disciples were multiplied and there rose a murmuring against the Hebrews and there widows were being neglected then in verse 2 it’s talking about how the twelve disciples had no reason to leave the word of god to serve tables then in verse 3 it’s talking about Brethen was among the seven men and was full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom then in verse 4 it’s talking about how we will always pray to the lord everyday amen hallelujah

  8. Acts 6:3-4 [ amp] Therefore select out from among yourself, brethren, seven men of good and attested character and repute, full of the [ Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may assign to look after this business and duty.
[4] Be we will continue to devote ourselves steadfastly to prayer and the ministry of the Word. Stephen was a man of faith and full of grace. Do the best as we can to be good leaders for God kingdom, It’s our duty!
Ezra 9: 4 [ amp] Arise, for it is your duty, and we are with you, Be strong and brave and do it.
As our forty day’s of fire continue. Stay on fire for Jesus!

  9. 2. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

    5. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

    8. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

No matter what you are called to do in the Kingdom, you can make an impact when you do it to the best of your ability.

    Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

  10. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Without a relationship with Jesus we cannot do anything. But in prayer full of faith in the Holy Ghost we can do things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us.

  11. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

God is not as much concerned with position and titles as he is every person being called to the role that he equipped them for. The ministers where chosen to fulfill certain duties which required much more time and dedication, this leaving out some of the necessary duties left for the widows they chose a number of men to fill in that Gap. What God has been teaching me is that every role God has appointed and anointed for specific reasons and each one has its purpose it is no less or more important then any other role but God has established these for a reason with his anointing. We must become a part of the body of Christ working in unison knowing where we are fulfilling purpose

  12. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

There is no stopping us when we are full of faith & power from the Holy Spirit. If God is for us who can stand against us?

  13. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

What a commitment to be made – what kind of church will we be? Whst will you choose to give yourself to in this time?

  14. So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility.
Acts of the Apostles 6:2‭-‬3 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.6.2-3.NLT

We have many different positions in the body of Christ and each one is important to reach those in need. There are a lot of people that are in such a state of poverty that they cannot hear the Gospel until they are fed and safe. This is why food pantries are so promising because your taking care of people’s basic needs so they can focus on other things.

  15. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
Act 6:15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

Stephen was a mighty man of God. The Bible says that he did mighty signs and wonders in the name of Jesus. His face even lit up like a candle. There was evidence that this man was truly a righteous man, and yet the religious folks who claimed to serve God were furious. This is the way it is today with some denominal churches today. If you confront them with the truth they will become hostile. This is also true with what is happening to Brother Spell in Louisiana. People are absolutely furious with him for having church during this pandemic. The judge recently threatened him not to have service and asked him if he was going to stop. Brother Spell quoted a scripture the first time the judge asked and held his peace the next time he was asked. While what the man of God is doing is questionable to some, I can’t help but to respect his faith in God during this time of persecution. All Stephen had to do was shut his mouth and stop preaching…But he refused to be quiet.

Right now the government is proving what they are capable of. Even though most say they still let us preach online so it’s not comparable to what happened in the book of Acts, the day will come when online speech is restricted as well. What are we going to do then, will we adjust our speech so we won’t be arrested and persecuted, or will we like Stephen be willing to die for our faith?

  16. 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Proselyte – a person who has converted from one opinion, religion, or party to another. A gentile that was converted to Judaism.

I guess that will include all of us. I know that I converted from Catholicism to Pentecostal and I have never been happier. It has been 35 years since I first got the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. All voids were filled without the needs of anything else but JESUS! I remember someone long ago told me that converts sometimes make better Pentecostals that those that have been in it all their lives for some take everything g for granted while new converts see everything is awesome.

People sometimes get so scare of what they don’t understand that they feel threaten where there is no threat so they go gossiping and judging without cause. Before we even open our mouth we should be reflecting of what is about to come out. Stephen has the boldness of the Holy Ghost and the knowledge of the Gospel. It says they were impressed by his wisdom but instead of listening and accepting they see him as a threat of their way of life. The irony here is that even if Stephen was a threat they shouldn’t have gone against their own law by looking for a false witness. For the 8th commandment is Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. We should all learn of the damage our tongue can cause even to death. For Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. That last phrase they that love it shall it the fruit thereof, that means that everything will reverse back at you so be careful what you wish others.
May the Lord help everyone of us keep our tongue under submission of the Holy Ghost and away from the judgement of others in Jesus Name Amen

  17. Luke 6
7 The Word of God prospered. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased dramatically. Not least, a great many priests submitted themselves to the faith.

8-10 Stephen, brimming with God’s grace and energy, was doing wonderful things among the people, unmistakable signs that God was among them. But then some men from the meeting place whose membership was made up of freed slaves, Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and some others from Cilicia and Asia, went up against him trying to argue him down. But they were no match for his wisdom and spirit when he spoke.

God give us wisdom to speak as we share you Word. In Jesus name.

  18. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

Sometimes, it amazes me how stupid smart people are. Man can paint the most beautiful art work, compose the most beautiful music and write stories to persuade people to become better people. But, without respect and the fear of the Lord, their efforts can cause more harm than good. When a person rejects the Lord, when they reject the idea of God, then we are prone to do the most ridiculous things and believe the most ridiculous things.

Why were the men of the synagogue upset with what Stephen was saying and doing? Was it jealousy that their words did not impact people in the same way, their deeds did not elicit the same ooh’s and aah’s? I predict so. How does this apply to me?

If our actions are not producing the desired results change something. Something is not what it should be. There many things that can keep our actions and words from having the desired impact. The first place to investigate is our motives. Are we working, doing, speaking for the betterment of man to introduce and promote The Good News or are we performing an act to increase our self-worth and promote ourselves in this world?

  19. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude…

There are many ministries within the church and all of them are important. Many of them require us to be filled with the Holy Ghost. God used Stephen greatly and he didn’t have a pulpit ministry. So, God can use any one of us to do miracles, signs and wonders in the place he has planted us, in the ministry he has given us.

  20. My friends, choose seven men who are respected and wise and filled with God’s Spirit. We will put them in charge of these things. We can spend our time praying and serving God by preaching.”
    Acts 6:3‭-‬4 CEV

Thankful for all the gifts and talents the LORD has placed at POFW! We are not called to be served but to serve. To serve in His Kingdom, and to serve our comm -UNITY.

  21. 6:5,15 and the saying pleased the whole multitude, and they chose Stephen a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost……
15 and all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

    ——
I just imaging this man standing with a super bright white light all around him., covering him, like a fortress…
    A man full of faith
A man full of the Holy Ghost
    Anointed, ready for Gods service.
A man that is willing….not being intimidated by others or situations….
    🙏🔥

  22. “Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But it is not to be this way with you; on the contrary, the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest [and least privileged], and the [one who is the] leader, like the servant.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭22:26‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Here we see a need for leaders to serve. Leading isn’t always about dominating or overpowering, but about examining where there is need and making sure that need is met. When we are put in a place of leadership, we shouldn’t be consumed with our title but seeking the Lord for guidance in how we can serve His Kingdom. This requires constant seeking of His wisdom and knowledge and understanding of His Word. Daily Prayer, fasting, and the studying of His Word will ensure we are submitted to His will and not our own.

I thank God for the privilege to serve! I pray we lead like Jesus, providing wisdom and continuing to serve others.

  23. 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face.

That’s what should happen when a man or a woman of God full of knowledge and power of the Holy Ghost. Walks into a room crowded with people reflecting the Lord Jesus Christ. Even before say the first word ,And not he’s self righteousness.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  24. 1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Whether cleaning a bathroom or ministering the word, serving tables or leading praise, we are ALL servants and play an important role in the Kingdom of God.

  25. 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

Stephen chose out of the people to be one of the seven. The Bible states that he was full of faith and power to perform miracles among the people. I know that anytime miracles and signs become apparent, there is always going to be somebody that’s going to be discounting the power of God even though they see it for themselves. I know so many in this world that can say that there is no God. So many will say that his power is not real. There will always be naysayers and nonbelievers.

Regardless on who believes you or discounts you, you have to remain bold and be a voice of reasoning to those that need to saved. We are to plant the seed of hope and water it so that it can grow. We have to be prepared for the harvest that is coming. We have to lead our families to the higher calling of Jesus. Living for Jesus to give Jesus.

  26. We all need to be leaders like Jesus. He wants us to be. I want to lead people to God. Want others to lead people to God. If we are living for God and full of the Holy Ghost we can show others how great life is engulfed in living for God. I love my church and I love Jesus and I want to learn more and more to glorify him!

  27. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

God’s word increased causing the number of disciples to increase which in return caused increase in obedience to the faith. This should be a reminder to us all of how important the word of God is to us and for us to give to others. In 2020 We are Living and Giving Jesus and that means giving His Word to others so that their faith and obedience to the Word will increase.

  28. Acts 6:6,7
Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. And the word of God increased(spread); and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priest were obedient to the faith.

God will prosper our work,Be obedient!
Keep serving God and our community.
Keep your fire burning in the Altar 🔥

    Col.1:6
I Timothy 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the council of the elders. Meditate upon these things; give the self entirely to them; that they progress may appear (evident)to all. Take heed in to thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

  29. 8 “Now Stephen, full of grace (divine blessing, favor) and power, was doing great wonders and signs (attesting miracles) among the people.

10-11 But they were not able to successfully withstand and cope with the wisdom and the intelligence [and the power and inspiration] of the Spirit by whom he was speaking. Then [to attack him another way] they secretly instructed men to say, “We have heard this man [Stephen] speak blasphemous (slanderous, sacrilegious, abusive) words against Moses and against God.”

15 Then all those who were sitting in the Council, stared [intently] at him, and they saw that Stephen’s face was like the face of an angel.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:8, 10-11, 15‬ ‭AMP‬‬

When you are covered under his blood nothing can bring you down. There is something about that precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Regardless of how man may try and take you down due to jealousy as long as you remain planted by the rivers of living water nothing can take you out. This is why it’s important that we stay prayed up, fasted up and in our word. This is how we water our tree. God will have our back 100% but we have to make sure we stay planted!!

  30. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

We should always stay focus in prayer everyday because it grows our relationship with our father, but not only do we grow spiritually but also our ministries grow too. it’s so important to continually stay in prayer because it is like preparing for battle and preparing our weapons for battle the more we pray the sharper we become in god.

  31. In this chapter I learned that the Greekes did not include the Hebrews cause thier widows were niglected from their daily activities. So we can apply this to our lives, by including everyone and not leaving anyone left out.

  32. 3. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. 4. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

  33. The apostles told everybody to come they chose 7
People they chose Steven they talk against him
And when they look at him they saul a Angel

  34. And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith. (‭Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭7‬ ESV)

Many times I’ve heard this scripture quoted. And it seems that most stop quoting the scripture after the disciples multiplied greatly. But I noticed word “and”. It also says that priest became obedient to the faith. Priest in those days where in charge of the animal sacrifices and the tabernacle duties. The priest finally received revelation that the Lamb of God paid the ultimate sacrifice for sin.

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭29‬ ESV)

  35. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

There is no greater job then working for the kingdom. This frees up pastors time to pray for us and this city. Can you imagin having all that work to do and then trying to teach and preach on the daily. Its a lot. On an added note since the church is the bride, then that makes us helpers.

  36. Act 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
Act 6:6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
Act 6:7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

These 7 men were chosen to do “ministry” and because they accepted the role and took it seriously, the Word of God was increased and disciples were made.

What does our ministry look like? Are we really doing ministry? I know that there are essential things that need to be done to assist the ministry, keep it on track, follow the paper trail etc, but true ministry is among the people. Teaching them the Word, living the Word as an example to them, being led by the Spirit of God each day to pray for people, heal people, deliver people from their addictions. It’s time all of us get back to what ministry really is and start being the conduit God can use to bring about a great harvest.

  37. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

A commitment just as we are giving in this 40 days of Fire, “. . . give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”

6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

We see these great miracles and people being added to the church, but they were added because of what they saw and felt while there. We cannot add if we do not outreach to let them know how to reach us, whether through service, livestream, social event, etc. once we get them to come then it can happen just as it did in the book of acts.

  38. I learned that the woman were,t invited to do
the early ministry there was 12 disclpis and
the woman had to pick 7 people.

  39. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    APOSTOLIC CHURCH GROWTH

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

There it is APOSTOLIC CHURCH GROWTH in the BIBLE. The WORD of GOD Increased and the number of Disciples Multiplied GREATLY.

There are many wonderful reveals in this chapter, but the clarity of this verse today is BRIGHT, LOUD and CLEAR to me today. This is what The POFW and this Daily BIBLE Blog is all about. I see IT clearer today than ever before.

The church had already witnessed and experienced Growth we read in verse 1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied,…

But the GROWTH takes on a new dimension in verse 7. The disciples multiplied GREATLY as the WORD of GOD increased.

The Greek word for increased in verse 7 is:

837 auksánō – properly, grow (increase); become greater in size (maturity, etc.). 837 /auksánō (“to grow”) is key to authentic discipleship. Indeed, the Lord requires non-stop progress (development) in the life of faith.

    causes the growth (1), causing the growth (1), full grown (1), grew (1), grow (8), growing (2), grows (2), increase (2), increased (2), increasing (2), spreading (1).

The nature of the WORD of GOD is to GROW. When we read, meditate, study and SHARE the WORD of GOD we GROW and The Kingdom of GOD increases and thereby the number of disciples increases GREATLY.

I believe that you and I catching the FIRE of the WORD of GOD and adding wood to the ALTAR Fire Daily in our lives will create the conditions conducive to APOSTOLIC CHURCH GROWTH. This BIBLE Blog is accomplishing this already without our focus on it.

The nature and culture of The POFW is making disciples in Fort Worth. But, everyone hasn’t bought into the VISION of the WORD of GOD through the POFW Bible Blog. I encourage you today for the sake of your soul, your family and our community lets take this WORD of GOD serious.

The increase of the WORD of GOD.

INCREASE – to become progressively greater (as in size, amount, number, or intensity)

If we will allow the amount of the WORD of GOD and the intensity of the WORD of GOD become more important to us, we will see a SHIFT from “multiply” to “multiply greatly” at The POFW and the region of Fort Worth in Tarrant and surrounding counties.

Watch as our families turn to TRUTH and our neighbors turn to TRUTH and our associates turn to TRUTH as the WORD of GOD increases.

Lets be accountable for our Daily Bible Reading, by searching the scriptures daily right here. We WILL Witness the POWER of the WORD of GOD multiply disciples GREATLY in JESUS Name.

  40. ACTS 6

    Translation:
    1) And during that time, when the number of the disciples had grown greatly, the Grecian started speaking bad words against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution of food.

    2) Then the twelve apostles called all of the disciples to a meeting, and said, “There isn’t any reason we should quit teaching the Word of God to distribute food”.

    3) Therefore, our Brothers in Christ, choose seven honest men, who are filled with the Holy Ghost and wise, whom will lead this distribution.

    4) But we will pray unceasingly and preach the Word of God.

    5) This pleased all who met: so they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Ghost, as well as Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, who was a man Who had dedicated himself to God. Nicolas was from Antioch.

    6) These men were recommended: and after the apostles had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

    7) And the Word of God increased; and the amount of disciples in Jerusalem greatly increased:and a great amount of the priests believed in Jesus and obeyed the teachings of the apostles.

    8) And Stephen, full of faith in God and with the power of the Holy Ghost, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

    9) Then in a certain synagogue there arose a protest. It was in the synagogue of the Libertines, Cyrenians, and Alexandrians and those from Cilicia and Asia, who argued with Stephen.

    10) And they were not able to rebuke Stephen, because of the great wisdom and spirit in which he spoke.

    11) Then they bribed men, who said, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God”.

    12) And the roused the people, the elders, and the scribes to anger. Then they came to Stephen, caught him, and took him before the council.

    13) And they established liars, who said that Stephen unceasingly spoke blasphemous words against the temple, and the laws of Moses.

    14) They said that they heard Stephen say, that this Jesus of Nazareth, he would destroy the temple and change the laws which Moses had set up for the people.

    15) And all the council looked steadily at Stephen, and his face looked like the face of an angel.

    Praise God!!!

  41. VS-7
And the word of God increased and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
    Converted priests
Its unlikely that these were members of the hierarchy. But there were thousands of ordinary priests in Jerusalem from whom the number of converts came

  42. This chapter shows us how can can use someone even though everyone else do not agree. Our status with God is not determined by what others think of us. I’m glad my success is not based on other people’s feelings. The people of God must be strong and fight through everything thrown our way.

  43. 2 So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. 3 And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility.

This shows everyone has a responsibility within an organization. Not one person can do it all. It department has to maintain their duty, house keeping or ministry. With God, each department will prosper.

  44. “Stephen, brimming with God’s grace and energy, was doing wonderful things among the people, unmistakable signs that God was among them. But then some men from the meeting place whose membership was made up of freed slaves, Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and some others from Cilicia and Asia, went up against him trying to argue him down. But they were no match for his wisdom and spirit when he spoke.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:8-10‬ ‭MSG‬‬

God did great wonders and signs through the apostles; but also through others like Stephen, one of the servants chosen to help the widows. God used Stephen because he was full of faith and power.

  45. 5 “Everyone liked this idea, and they chose the following: Stephen (a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit), Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas of Antioch (an earlier convert to the Jewish faith).” NLT

It’s always easier to go ahead with a plan when you agree with it. However, as you may know or will soon know we don’t always agree with everyone. Theres a statement I’ve heard throughout my life that I’ve never forgotten; “true submission begins when agreement ends”.

Are we submitted that we will let our personal opinions end, and wholeheartedly follow whatever is asked of us? I believe sometimes we are, and other times we fail.

With “leadership” being the characteristic today, I pray we could all take a moment and say a special prayer for leadership, governmental and The POFW. That the leadership will ultimately make a Jesus Choice and those under them will gladly follow.

  46. Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.
6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of thine Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorous, and Nicanor, and timon, and Parmena, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6:6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
6:7 And the word of God increases; and the number of the disciples multipled in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to ther faith.
6:8 And Stephen full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

To stay in faith we can help grow God’s kingdom. Sometimes we may not know what exact thing we are to do in the church but pray to God and He will show you what it is that you can do for the church. We all must do our part to help build up God’s people!

  47. 13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

They were spreading lies about him

  48. Hechos 6:5-7

  49. Acts 6:2-3, 5-6, 8
    2) Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
    3) Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

    5) And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
    6) Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

    8) And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

    “Serving Tables”
There are many people who fill a call to the ministry. I can hear Pastor’ voice very clearly say, “If you think you’re called to the ministry, go clean a toilet.” I’m sure that most ministers will tell you that when they felt the call to the ministry, they did not start out preaching the word, but SERVED in other ministries/capacities first. (Why? because that’s what ministry is all about – SERVING). Cleaning a toilet, vacuuming, mowing the lawn, driving a bus or van, being a greeter, going on outreach, etc…

Stephen started out SERVING tables, then he did wonders and miracles, and later on preached to the people (chapter 7), BUT he started out SERVING.

  50. Acts 6

This Chapter means that, we shouldn’t argue over things but spread The Gospel to all living creatures. And The men who falsely accused Stephen will be held accountable by The Throne Of God in His Day Of Judgement For Stephen He was thrown in to prison for His Faith which He later died For The Lord

  51. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. We are powerful when we are full of the Holy Ghost and prayer.

  52. number of disciples increased, a conflict began between the Hellenistic Jews and the Hebraic Jews. The former group thought that their widows were being treated unfairly because they were not receiving the same amount of food as other widows.

    The Apostles Give Instructions
The apostles decided to address this matter with the disciples. They explained that their primary task was to spread the Word of the Lord rather than spending time serving anyone food. The apostles told the disciples to select seven trustworthy people that were known for being very wise and full of the Holy Spirit.

Once these seven individuals were in charge of the task of handing out the food, the apostles could return to preaching the Word of God without any disruption. This way, more people could be converted to the faith since the apostles could focus their efforts on preaching.

    An Agreement is Reached
The disciples were very pleased with the suggestion put forth from the apostles. They opted to pick a man named Stephen to be in charge of the task. He was known for his wisdom and also for presenting himself as someone who was filled with the Holy Spirit.

The other disciples that were picked to help him with the task at hand included Nicanor, Timon, Procorus, Nicolas, Philip and Parmenas. The apostles placed their hands on the foreheads of these men and prayed for them so they would be strong in completing their required duties. Once the prayer session was over, the seven disciples began their task.

    Stephen Falsely Accused
As Stephen began doing wonderful things, some people tried to argue with his message. They could not prove him wrong, though. Instead, they bribed people to lie about him, saying that he cursed God and Moses. Stephen was brought to the High Council where the false witnesses testified against him.

  53. 1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

  54. 1 Corinthians 2:5 KJV
[5] That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

  55. “But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program.”

Everything role is important to the kingdom we should not think that we are more important because of the our role in the church.

  56. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

God’s will always take presidence regardless who helps tries to deflate it or elevate it!!!!

  57. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
    Amen

  58. 12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

When you go against TRUTH or the WORD of God,
there seems to always be a false witness.

  59. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
Pray without ceasing and preach the gospel. Give out church cards and ways to connect cards

  60. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

  61. Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.” These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed for them as they laid their hands on them. So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too.
Acts of the Apostles 6:4‭, ‬6‭-‬7 NLT

One man can preach, teach and attend all the needs of people but if everyone helps God’s message can be spread far greater. This is called ministry, yes it’s work but the outcome is much greater.

  62. “And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭6:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The qualifications described by the apostles focused the character of the men to be chosen. The apostles were far more concerned with the internal quality of the men than their outward appearance or image.
The idea behind full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom is that these men were to be both spiritually minded and practically minded. This can be a hard combination to find.
Our testimony has a lot to say about who we are.

  63. Stephen is arrested for preaching about Jesus. Stephen was filled with the word of God and the Holy Ghost.

    -Jacob. Hernández

  64. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

The people could not resist the wisdom and spirit by which Stephen spake so they had to make something up about him to make it look like he was a bad person, there are going to be people in our lives that are going to try to make things up about us to make us look bad because they don’t agree with the message that we speak about God to them. But we need to keep moving and believing in the one that has anointed and chosen us.

  65. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

The higest priest could not stand the wisdom of Stephen. They did not comprehend it because they did not have the Holy Ghost. Instead of them wanting to learn their hearts were filled with jealousy and anger. Today we face many brothers and sisters that can relate to what the priest were feeling. Because of lack of wisdom and a true relationship with God. I pray that we continually cling to His word, are fill with the Holy Ghost and learn from our Pastor and leadership.

  66. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

The 3 qualifications really work anywhere in any position.

    1. Honest
    2. Full of the Holy Ghost
    3. Wise

If you have these 3 things you can do anything. There is no limit in what God can do with you and through you. Let us not worry about our Tallent’s first but work on these 3 things. The rest will come.

  67. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

The word of the Lord and the number of the disciples increased so much, and everyone’s faith and trust in the Lord and his word grew exceedingly. That can tell us to never stop spreading the word of God, so many beautiful things the Lord can use us to do! We need to start following his path and obeying the Lord and his commandments, for he has many beautiful miracles to come. Put all your faith and trust in the Lord. Lord i pray that you use us in many ways and use us to spread your beautiful word!

  68. v 7 And the word of God increase; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

When we witness for Jesus, those around us also feel the effects of the Spirit of God….
An example : Paul ‘s witness to Agrippa nearly persuaded him to surrender to God, and Felix accused Paul of being mad or crazy.
The empowerment Spirit of God affects the hearers.

  69. 11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

In our walk with Christ, we will always be persecuted for speaking the truth. Jesus said that we need to suffer for His me sake. We must be willing to die if we need to die for Him.

  70. 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

When people were set in place to do the work of minsitry then the Word of God increased and the number of disciples multiplied. It is a vital part of the Kingdom and the church for people to rise up and become leaders and serve. It is the way that the word can be spread even more.

  71. 5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism.

6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.

7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

    Acts 6:5‭-‬7 NIV
    https://bible.com/bible/111/act.6.5-7.NIV

We need to all come together and preach the word of God, we need to spread his love and show people that there is a God. We need to make more disciples of the Lord! We need to show people to have faith and believe that there will be a change and you can be saved! We have to help other’s and ourselves before it’s the end time and it’s coming we have to be saved and save others.
    LIVE GIVE JESUS!

  72. I never realized how much the truth can turn people away. I was blind before I turned to my new life and now that I can see, I’m amazed at what I had been blind to. The more I study the word, the closer I get to Jesus, the more I notice how wicked the world can be. I can’t even imagine how much it must hurt the lord to see all that he has given to his people and still they choose not to follow him. I was one of those people that never took it seriously, but as my life changes day by day, I am ashamed of the person I once was, how much time I wasted living such a horrible life of sin. I am thankful that the lord is so patient and that he still after all of my sins, still gave me a chance to change. Thank you Jesus for your mercy and grace, I will never in this lifetime be able to communicate how wonderful you truly are, I look forward to spending eternity with you praising you. You are my lord and savior and I am happy to be one of your sheep. Hallelujah, praise Jesus.

  73. “Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:2-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sometimes ministers must do what others don’t want to do. It is important for us to care for those without a head of the household —widows and orphans—. This is not a glamours job. Sometimes you have to listen to people cry. Sometimes listen to their stories. Sometimes just be with them or take care of a basic need. Caring for someone is a commitment, but it’s one given by God as he is the one that knits us all together. Serving is not always glamours. Sometimes it’s hard work so others get the benefit.

  74. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
Kingdom leadership, Being a good leader you should be able to return to places you once were n hear the same leadership you once preached to lead you have to have someone to follow. Persuade someone to follow this Gospel

  75. “So they persuaded some men to lie about Stephen, saying, ‘We heard him blaspheme Moses, and even God.’ This roused the people, the elders, and the teachers of religious law. So they arrested Stephen and brought him before the high council.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭6:11-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When you’re on fire for God, there will be people who rise against you. These people are deceived and, though they don’t know it, are being used of the devil. It’s important during times like these to keep your sight on God and not man. Jesus will give you the tools to deal with such people and He will work in their hearts to remove the spiritual blind fold that’s taken over them.

  76. “So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”

They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:2-4, 6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We cannot get caught up in trying to do fulfill EVERY part of what needs done in God’s kingdom all on our own. It’s the very reason we have brothers and sisters by our sides, everybody has a part and if we all stick to what we are called to do the church will always flourish. There is no part too small, it all matters!

  77. “None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke.”(‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭6:10‬ ‭NLT)

When we live life the fullest and trust in the Lord like Stephen did then there no need to fear or worry about anything. “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?(‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

  78. 6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

What I gain from this particular passage of scripture is that we are placed into key parts of ministry that we can fulfill. Even if we feel we are struggling to do so, God knows our strengths and weaknesses and allows us to become more suitable for our own ministries as we grow. Even in the midst of all that they feared they were holding onto what they knew was their ministry and this sets a great example. If they can do this in the worse conditions and under such great pressure we should be able to do so as well in our own lives where we are given to ministry so easily. Regardless of our lives events or troubles this should not subtract our time or efforts for or ministry.
