Acts 7

Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

10 And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

11 Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.

12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.

13 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

14 Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

15 So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,

16 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

17 But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

18 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months:

21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:

25 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

26 And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?

27 But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

28 Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?

29 Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

36 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

40 Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.

45 Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

46 Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

47 But Solomon built him an house.

48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

50 Hath not my hand made all these things?

51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.

59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

  1. Are you willing to die for JESUS?. Stephen died because they were mad he told the truth . But he saw the glory of the LORD. being a Christian we must be prepared to sacrifice ourselves and family for JESUS. . Don’t let this world and the people in it stop you for spreading the Gospel. Even if you died , you died knowing someone received the Gospel and someone is saved

  2. Verses 51-53 MSG “And you continue, so bullheaded! Calluses on your hearts, flaps on your ears! Deliberately ignoring the Holy Spirit, you’re just like your ancestors. Was there ever a prophet who didn’t get the same treatment? Your ancestors killed anyone who dared talk about the coming of the Just One. And you’ve kept up the family tradition—traitors and murderers, all of you. You had God’s Law handed to you by angels—gift-wrapped!—and you squandered it!” This recount of Stephen infuriated the crowd to the point of killing him; but, Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven as he saw the glory of God and his destination. We must be like Stephen and never stop speaking of the goodness of our God and faithfully share the good news as we LIVE-GIVE JESUS!

Acts 5:42 AMP “And every single day, in the temple [area] and in homes, they did not stop teaching and telling the good news of Jesus as the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed).”

1 Samuel 12:24 AMP “Only fear the Lord [with awe and profound reverence] and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.”

  3. 59. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

    60. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

In these times of revenge, retribution, lawsuits, and litigation, we could use a little forgiveness.

    Matthew 6:
    12. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

    13. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

    14. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

  4. Acts 7:47-48-49 [ amp] But it was Soloman who built a house for Him.
[48] Hoewever, the Most High does not dwell in houses and temples made with band’s as the prophet say’s.
[49] Heaven [ is] My throne, earth the footstool for My feet, What [ kind of] house can you build for Me, says the Lord, or what is the place in which I can rest?
I remember that the house that Soloman build was for the Lord for was sixty cubits . Wow!
What kind of house are we building for the Lord!
Lord make my house of prayer and worship! To walk in your statues to keep all your commands.
Be full of the Holy Ghost! And never stop talking about God and his goodness.

  5. 40 Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands

Many times we do not know how God is working in our lives. We may think he has forgotten us. We must not allow sin to overcome us but remain faithful as God puts his plan in place for us.

  6. 30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

Reading this morning I looked at our candle for 40 Days of Fire and related Moses’s experience to myself today. I know God sees everything we (I) go through, everything we (I) are trying to do and he is with us. He is bringing us to a place of deeper relationship and communion with him through it all. I totally rely on him. He is my Way Maker and Promise keeper!

  7. 37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

  8. He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.

Purity of heart. I pray for a heart as diligent and as pure as Stephen for us. Full of wisdom and the Holy Spirit. What all can we do for God to advance His Kingdom if we didn’t have unforgiveness in our hearts, just full of faith, hope and love?

  9. 1. Then the Chief Priest said, “What do you have to say for yourself?” MSG

If we are questioned as to why we believe the way we do, can we answer as Stephen did? People today have misconceptions that prevent them from understanding, appreciating, or believing in God. To some, God is a fairy tale and Jesus was simply a person in history.

The heart believes what has been shared by a person we trust, and this belief creates faith. This growing faith then seeks a deeper knowledge of God and desires to be a witness to these things to others. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

In studying the bible, we can remove hindrances to our faith. Studying provides reason and understanding and can help us in response to questions such as; “What do you have to say for yourself?”

2 Timothy 2:15-18 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

  10. And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

7 And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.

8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

  11. 59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Even after giving them an entire Bible study and history lesson, they still stoned him and he still prayed over them and lifted his eyes toward God. God knows every heart and every person, he knows their every choice we will all make; whether or not each person will follow him or not. But that is his job, not ours. Our job is to be witnesses to the lost and allow God to place us wherever he chooses…

  12. So Acts Chapter 7 verse 6 is talking about how god should bring them into bondage and entreat them for fourty years then in verse 7 it’s talking about how the nation will judge after god said let’s come forth with the lord Jesus then he said let’s serve in this place then in verse 8 it’s talking about how Abraham gave the circumcision to the covenant then Abraham circumcision Issac on the Eighth Day then Issac Begat Jacob and the Twelve People

  13. Acts 7
    Message
54-56 At that point they went wild, a rioting mob of catcalls and whistles and invective. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, hardly noticed—he only had eyes for God, whom he saw in all his glory with Jesus standing at his side. He said, “Oh! I see heaven wide open and the Son of Man standing at God’s side!”

Full of the Holy Ghost . Stephen kept right on even in the midst of the riot proclaiming and sharing the word of God ! Faithful and with a true attitude of love for the lost as they stoned him for preaching he still ask God to forgive them. God keep me full of the Holy Ghost and filled with a love that goes beyond reasonable understanding in Jesus name .

  14. 54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

Stevens mission was to please God and spread the good news no matter what the consequence. Their mission was to stop him. However being a man filled with the Holy Spirit Stephen asked that they be forgiven.

  15. 16 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

17 But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

A lot of times we pray for something and keep praying but when we see that nothings g happens we give up, thinking our God is not listening. God always listens, but how it show in verse 17 He waits for the time that the promise is suppose to happen. That’s why no matter what my doctors say I AM WAITING ON MY PROMISE!!!! For my God is ALWAYS on time…

55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

Here is again, the boldness which Stephen speaks with is comes from the Holy Ghost. Stephen shows them that he is no fool, he takes the time to refresh them of everything God has done. He reminds them of how many times they have acted as fools and have denied d their prophets. He reminds them how they casted Moises at one time and wouldn’t listen to him and no they’re holding to his law with their teeth and nails. He reminds them about Jesus and how they spoke about their Messiah but killed him at the end. He calls the murderers that really hit their hearts but the thing is in Acts 2 when Peter tells them they have killed Jesus and their heart got pricked they ask what shall we do? And they hit baptized and their church grew over 3,000 people. When Stephen tells them: 54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
They killed Stephen, their reaction was an anger out of that fear to lose their law. They didn’t want to hear what they have done anymore. There was no repentance in their heart; only anger.

58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.

I have read this several times and never did I noticed that Saul was involved. Makes me wonder if this was when the seed was planted before Jesus meets him on his way to Damascus in Act 9. That’s why it is so important that we tell everyone about Jesus for even if they refuse you never know if that seed that got planted will later sprout somewhere else. GIVE JESUS!!!

  16. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
While reading this chapter I started wondering, “Why is ole Stephen giving these fellers a Bible Study.” At first it seemed like a nice history lesson. I could imagine the Jews angrily standing there thinking how they all ready knew all this stuff. Honestly, I couldn’t figure out how this had anything to do with the price of rice in China. Then in the middle of the Bible Study I stopped to pause and reflect a certain point and that’s when I see it…(No not a revelation from the heavens)… I saw a bible note from a scholar. Then it all made sense. This passage of scripture in Acts chapter 7 isn’t just a Bible Study for these Jewish Leaders, it’s a letter of condemnation that traced all the way back to the days of Abraham. Let me explain via this scholar’s note.

(The following was found as a note in the eSword Bible App.(side note: it’s always ethical to include when you use other people’s thoughts and words and don’t try to act like those words are from your own thoughts but are from Matthew Henry’s Commentary and steal a sermon.com)

The drift of the whole speech, which must be borne in mind as we read it, is that again and again the Chosen People had rejected their God-sent deliverers and prophets, and had taken their own evil courses. The rejection of the Savior was only a parallel to that of Joseph by his brethren, and that of Moses by the nation. Israel had always been stiffnecked and froward, and ought not history to warn Stephen’s hearers against taking a similar attitude towards Jesus of Nazareth? Might not Jesus prove to be as great a blessing in that generation as Joseph or Moses had been in his? The parallel will be complete when Jesus returns in power and glory.

    (The following is from me.)
The thing about it is this, from the beginning of Stephen’s Bible Study, the Holy Ghost was revealing to these murderers that while they thought they were like Joseph, God was revealing that they were of the spirit of his brothers. They thought they were following Moses, but God was revealing they were of the spirit of rebellion against Moses, and in a nutshell, they were the bad guys who had rejected God from the beginning. God was setting Stephen up through this preaching to get something worse than tomatoes thrown at him. This was the exhortation (the final one) of his lifetime. His first and last time to preach. (so you want to be a preacher?). No more sitting at home in quarantine eating fried chicken. Through the Holy Ghost Stephen preached a message of rebuke and this crowd of Jews knew exactly what he was saying.

God is revealing to me once again that he does not exactly want to tickle the congregations ears all the time. Stephen was not a pastor, elder, or bishop. Stephen was a simple table server from a couple chapters ago who lost his life rebuking a bunch of religious bullies.

    amen

  17. “Moses assumed his fellow Israelites would realize that God had sent him to rescue them, but they didn’t. “The next day he visited them again and saw two men of Israel fighting. He tried to be a peacemaker. ‘Men,’ he said, ‘you are brothers. Why are you fighting each other?’”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭7:25-26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
It’s funny. The people you love and the people that you are reaching will spit in your face for your attempts to help and to give out the gospel. Maybe because they know your faults already. Maybe it’s because they saw you grow up, so they see you as a kid. Maybe your small, inexperienced.

If you got a calling. Never hang it up.

  18. 58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.

59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

These men wanted nothing to do with the information of what Stephen was speaking to them. Even though the truth from what happen from the time of Abraham until their current time. The scripture stated that they were gnashing with their teeth upon him and the cast him out of the city and began to stone him. I am amazed at the spirit of Stephen. What an example of the true Christian that lives whole heartily for the kingdom of God. He was willing to forgive them by stating to God, lay not this sin to their charge. It was the greatest representation of Jesus. Just as Jesus cried out upon the cross for God to forgive them for they knew not what they did.

We have to be an example like Stephen, when people want to harm us for preaching the gospel, we have to just look unto heaven from which our strength comes. That is what we can do when we live Jesus all the time.

Be part of the faithfulness of the kingdom of God.

  19. Live Jesus Give Jesus! This bible passage is very strong and a much needed message. We have to trust God in everything we do even if it means death. God is in control.

  20. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    ARE THESE THINGS SO?

Acts 7:1 Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

Am I ready to answer this question for myself? These recent weeks have revealed, defined and identified who and what we are in JESUS. I repeat to you again, these past 7 weeks have been a test. An opportunity for us to prove our love to and for JESUS and HIS Kingdom. Some have excelled, some have failed, some still prevail.

The absolute FACT is that this “lockdown” has been a test of things to come. Some have been filled with fear, while others have excelled in FAITH. I believe that where we are today and have been the past 7 weeks is in a place of defining our LOVE to and for JESUS.

In Acts 7 the religious leaders ask a question of the disciple. “Are these things so?”

But, what were they really asking?

Acts 6:14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

The painful answer of TRUTH condemned the accusers and killed the righteous. This still happens today. When we speak TRUTH, people will not physically kill us, but they will cut us off from their life.

Am I ready to answer this question?

Notice the question could have been answered with a simple yes or no response. He could have lied and said no, in attempt to save his physical life, he could have said yes and just left it at that. But the disciple chose to share the Gospel story and proof of the revelation. One last opportunity to share JESUS story.

Stephen was so full of the WORD of GOD that he just spoke it, he did not have access to his iPad or iPhone or even his Bible to look up the verses, but he KNEW JESUS (the WORD) and spoke from his heart of knowledge. We are blessed with these precious gifts of the Gospel to share them. Some will receive them, some will reject them, but we must share them and forgive those that persecute us for HIS Gospel message. Read, Meditate and Study the WORD of GOD and the disciples will multiply.

  21. 8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

God instructed Abraham to leave his country and to go to land that He would show him…..God did not give Abraham the full picture, only a small portion to see if he would follow instructions. As a sign that Abraham would be obedient God made a covenant with Abraham, circumcision.

God was going to lead Abraham out of his land to a new land, he would become the father of many nations – but it was going to cost him.

Just because God promises us happy endings does not mean it is not going to cost us something getting there.

We have the promise of eternal life, but it cost us dying out to our flesh, circumcision of the heart, cutting away of our fleshly desires, being filled with His Spirit, being born of the water in baptism, walking a holy, acceptable life unto Him, being a soul winner, discipling others, crucifying our flesh daily, walking in the Spirit, being a conduit for His Spirit to move through us to others. All of this is part of His plan and it will cost us to complete the plan.

  22. What a testimony Stephen had!! I love that despite in what people were feeling and thinking against him. He stood for the truth and spoke it into the ears of the people. He gave his life for the gospel of Christ, and also forgave. And here I am. Will I show such faithfulness? Can I do the same as Stephen and be willing to forgive and not hold anything against others that have caused me great pain? Will I? Can I?

The answer is yes! Only through Christ alone!!!! When you have received His forgiveness and His love. Then you’re able to give it freely to others❤
Unconventional love can be and will be challenged . But love them anyway ❤

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
    Mark 13:13 KJV

  23. 46 “David found favor with God and asked for the privilege of building a permanent Temple for the God of Jacob. 47 But it was Solomon who actually built it.

We do not have to do it all by ourselves. The Kingdom is vast and endless opportunities, we cannot sit back and expect we are the only ones who can complete everything.

While David found favor, it was to build the plans, and offer leadership to Solomon who would actually build the temple. There is a job for everyone! Some plan and some build.

There are numerous opportunities at POFW, and with Jesus and the leadership of Pastor, we can all assist in completing them for the Kingdom of God!

  24. 51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

Todays Word is Faithfulness and we find great faithfulness to God in this chapter. God know that we all want to do His will yet our flesh often gets in the way. We can learn from Stephen today that Faithfulness goes further than just when things are easy and good. We must be faithful even when the situation may end in death.

I must understand that my life here on earth is not more important than my eternity. Lord, let me be found faithful in every area of my life. Search me God and forgive me of any area that I have not been faithful to you.

  25. 7:60 and he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice:
Lord, lay not this sin to their charge,, and when he had said this he fell asleep.

  26. 51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

Some people can’t take the truth, like the old saying tells truth hurts. Applied this to your spiritual life. (Truth hurts once but it will save your spiritual life Forever)

Algunas personas no pueden tomar la verdad, como el viejo dicho dice que la Verdad duele. Aplicado esto a tu vida espiritual. (La verdad duele una vez pero salvará tu vida espiritual para siempre)

    A.L.M.A.S.

  27. “They continued stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, “Lord Jesus, receive and accept and welcome my spirit!” Then falling on his knees [in worship], he cried out loudly, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them [do not charge them]!” When he had said this, he fell asleep [in death].”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭7:59-60‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Despite how they felt about Stephen, he stood rooted and grounded into he lord. Even in his time of death he still cried out unto the lord for their souls. Are we willing to cry out into the lord even when we are being tormented by the world or are we going to give into the world because we don’t want to be attacked?

  28. “Forty years later, in the desert near Mount Sinai, an angel appeared to Moses in the flame of a burning bush. When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight. As he went to take a closer look, the voice of the Lord called out to him, ‘I am the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ Moses shook with terror and did not dare to look. I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groans and have come down to rescue them. Now go, for I am sending you back to Egypt.’ “So God sent back the same man his people had previously rejected when they demanded, ‘Who made you a ruler and judge over us?’ Through the angel who appeared to him in the burning bush, God sent Moses to be their ruler and savior. And by means of many wonders and miraculous signs, he led them out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, and through the wilderness for forty years.
Acts of the Apostles 7:30‭-‬32‭, ‬34‭-‬36 NLT
It took forty years for Moses to hear from God and it took forty years for to be led out of Egypt and through the red Sea and the weirdness
Could it be after these forty is when we found our calling or breakthrough
    Thank you JESUS
This could be the 40 days of 🔥 where you start a fire that will never burn out

  29. and rescued him from all his troubles. And God gave him favor before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. God also gave Joseph unusual wisdom, so that Pharaoh appointed him governor over all of Egypt and put him in charge of the palace.
    Acts of the Apostles 7:10

Lets continue speaking about Jesus Christ

  30. You deliberately disobeyed God’s law, even though you received it from the hands of angels.
Acts of the Apostles 7:53 NLT

We have grrr he direct Word of God in our hands – what are we going to do with it? Just the same we have a choice to ignore and disobey or to faithfully disobey. There is no in between or half-hearted commitments permitted anywhere I’ve seen, we either do or we don’t. Today I choose to faithfully serve You Jesus!

  31. 58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.

59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭23:34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Stephen displayed the same forgiving attitude that Jesus had on the cross by asking God to forgive his accusers.

God heard Stephen’s prayer, and Paul is the evidence of it. We have no idea how greatly God can use us in our times of suffering.

He didn’t just say with his words that he wanted to be more like Jesus, He proved it with His actions. He fearlessly preached the word of God and forgave those who came against him. We could all learn a great lesson from Stephen.

  32. Acts 7:49,50 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?

    17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

I Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and you’re not your own ? For ye are brought with the price: therefore glorify God in your body and your spirit, which are Gods.

Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary pure and holy tried and true with thanksgiving be a living sanctuary for you

  33. I learned that this chapter when though some of the Old Testament stories, like John and Joseph. Something new I learned was that a guy named Steven was trying to tell the people about Gods word, and the people did not like that word or the truth that he was giving them. Trust started throwing stores, and biting him to death. Soon he end up dying. We should always put G poi day word first and let everyone have a chance to speak we should not be mean if we don’t agree with aiming, instead we should give them nice advice. BE KIND TO OTHERS POFW!!!😁😁😁

  34. 10 And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

Whenever we think that we are in bondage and that we will never be free God steps in and delivers us from bondage and blesses us with knowledge of what he his doing in our lives, all it takes for us to be set free from our bondage is for us to put all of our trust into god and let him take control of our situation because he is in control of it all in the end.

  35. 58. And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witness laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. 59. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

  36. “And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭7:60‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Even when they were killing him, Stephen asked for God to forgive them and not hold them to his death. Wow. The power to forgive and be so concerned with others salvation and their walk with Christ that even when they wrong us unto death, we still see the value they are to the Kingdom. I thank God for not being a respecter of persons, for showing us grace and mercy. I pray we see the value of every soul and take on the burden of bringing souls to Christ so they may hear His truth, repent, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost and become His disciples!

  37. 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

    Matthew 5:11-12
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Stephen preached with boldness, and they did not like it because they didn’t want to hear the truth, and they made excuses to stone him. We luckily don’t get stoned in today’s world but we do get persecuted from time to time but we need to be like Stephen, he said lay not this sin to there charge. What a good example of being a true Christian. I know I can learn a lot from this passage of scriptures, God let us be more like you in every way.

  38. And while they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, Lord Jesus, receive and accept and welcome my spirit! And falling on his knees, he cried out loudly, Lord, fix not this sin upon them [lay it not to their charge]! And when he had said this, he fell asleep [in death]. (‭Acts‬ ‭7‬:‭59-60‬ AMP)

What beautiful example of true forgiveness. There are times that we may find ourselves feeling emotionally or mentally at deaths door. This can be caused from the accusations of strangers and friends, other times it maybe the lack of words from close family or friends and often times by our own actions. In either case it is very painful and can leaving you feeling as if a part of you is dying, but true forgiveness is when we ask God not to lay it on their charge. And we ask God to forgive them, truly repent from our own mistakes and seek peace.

And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your failings and shortcomings. (‭Mark‬ ‭11‬:‭25-26‬ AMP)

  39. 59 As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.

Even to his last breath, Stephen worship/praised God. We should have that same boldness as Stephen, don’t anything deter your relationship with God. Stand firm with God, always praising him in all you do.

  40. Hechos 7: 55-56

  41. “This was Stephen’s reply: “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. Our glorious God appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia before he settled in Haran. God told him, ‘Leave your native land and your relatives, and come into the land that I will show you.’ So Abraham left the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran until his father died. Then God brought him here to the land where you now live. “But God gave him no inheritance here, not even one square foot of land. God did promise, however, that eventually the whole land would belong to Abraham and his descendants—even though he had no children yet.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭7:2-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Abraham’s partial obedience did not take God’s promise away. Instead, it meant the promise was on hold until Abram was ready to do what the Lord said. Lord let me always be obedient to your word.

  42. 46 Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
47 But Solomon built him an house.
48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

Jesus wanted to dwell within us that we Would do his work by saving the loss. Once we are baptized in Jesus name and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost that is God within us. A temple not made by human hands but made for God’s desire.

  43. Acts 7:59>60 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying Lord Jesus receive my spirit. And he kneeled down and called with a loud voice, saying, Lord lay this sin not to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Christians have been victims of harrasment for years. The enemy is trying to take down anyone he can. Stephen was killed calling on God and what a joy for him to go to heaven. It is hard for many to see it this way perhaps, but I look forward myself to be in the kingdom with GOD! I want to help as many people as I can first on this earth. Thank you POFW for all you do! I love you all!

  44. Acts 7:48, “Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with human hands; as saith the prophet.”

God (the Most High) does not dwell (live in) temples made with human hands, but we are the temple of God, and He dwells (lives in) in us.

1 Cor. 3:16, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
1 Cor. 6:19, “… know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God,…?”
2 Cor. 6:16, “… for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them,…”

Thank You JESUS that you Live in us!
    LIVE JESUS – GIVE JESUS

  45. 22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

  46. Acts 7:31-34 When Moses saw it ,he wondered at the sight:and as he drew near to behold it,the Voice of the Lord came unto him,32) Saying, I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and turned his face away.
When you complain to much, you stay in the same place and problem all the time. Go where God plants your heart and feet, leave your battles with him.

  47. Acts 7:9 “And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him.”

I love these 2 little words, “but God,” they are so very important. These words remind me of God’s desire to interfere in our lives, especially of those who do His will.
Even though at times hell may rage against us, accuse us, and attempt to stop the wonderful plan of God in us, we are more than comforted by these 2 amazing words but God. Because these 2 words allow us as believers to climb any mountain, cross any river, and overcome any stormy sea that may arise.

  48. v54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth .

As Stephen..never back down and continue to speak God’s Word with faith and boldnes to a darkened world ….bringing the light of truth to those who are trying to find their way.

  49. 34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

The Lord is always looking for His people to pray, to call Him, seek Him in prayer, in times of trouble. We must seek Him, He is the only one who can help us in times of need. He is always waiting for you to call Him.

  50. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

  51. 7 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves,’ God said, ‘and afterward they will come out of that country and worship me in this place.’

8 Then he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision. And Abraham became the father of Isaac and circumcised him eight days after his birth. Later Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.

9 “Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him

    Acts 7:7‭-‬9 NIV
    https://bible.com/bible/111/act.7.7-9.NIV

No matter what God is always going to be with us! Even is we try to run away as far as we can he will still be there. At times we feel like we want to give up and run away from all your problems but, running is not the answer God is. He can change you, He can save you run to Him. Let Him come into you let her m in your heart and you will never have to run he will hold you tight in his arms and never will let you fall.

  52. Identity

Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and it showed all the way till the end of his life.

    Acts 7:60 KJV
[60] And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

    1 John 4:4 KJV
[4] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

  53. 59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep

Stephen was a faithful man of God. He was teaching the good news of the gospel and trying to save lost souls. He was very forgiving of those that stoned him. Stephen is an example of how we should be and live.
    Live Jesus Give Jesus

  54. “As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭7:59-60‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What a great man of God ,Stephen stood up with faith and courage when all had fear and he was not ashamed to speak the word of God and the Priests leaders we’re furious with Stephen but he kept on speaking the truth of Jesus Christ and he was persecuted for doing The Lord’s will. Steven asked the Lord to forgive those that were persecuting him for he wanted their souls to be save from sin.

  55. Acts 7

This Chapter means that, Stephen was under the hands of the high priests He told the past of their ancestors and what really happened He wasn’t going against God’s Laws. But they refused to listen and were set to stone him and they did as Stephen last words were that God don’t charge them over their sin.

  56. Acts 7

This Chapter means that, Stephen was under the hands of the high priests He told the past of their ancestors and what really happened He wasn’t going against God’s Laws. But they refused to listen and were set to stone him and they did as Stephen last words were that God don’t charge them over their sin.

  57. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

What a beautiful moment for Stephen a great man of God. To lift his eyes to heaven and see the Glory of God. He made it!! The pain meant nothing. He was looking at the finished line. What a beautiful glorious moment. That one day not far we will all see! At the end of his life Stephen held no anger towards his accusers but prayed for them. I pray that we follow Stephen example and have the same faithfulness to God til our last breath, and have love for those who accuse us.

  58. “Name one prophet your ancestors didn’t persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One—the Messiah whom you betrayed and murdered. You deliberately disobeyed God’s law, even though you received it from the hands of angels.””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭7:52-53‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/act.7.52-53.nlt

The Jewish leader were too mad to believe the truth of God they even heard many testimony of the believers.

  59. “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groans and have come down to rescue them. Now go, for I am sending you back to Egypt.’”(‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭7:34‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

  60. 1 Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

These things are just as true as they were in the old testament. This really made me think of ourheritage, were we come from what we’ve been through. Who we were and who we are today. Its been a long road. Its not always been a straight and narrow path. But time and time again God pulled us through. He was there at the beginning and he will be there at the end and he is very much here today. Its so important we never forget were we came from and its even more important that we lean on truth and have the strength and courage to share it with others.

  61. Acts Chapter 7 deals with the defense of Stephen, a disciple and deacon in the early church, who was moving among the people performing miracles and preaching. The high priests of the synagogues grew angry and jealous of Stephen and accused him of blasphemy.

  62. When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight. As he went to take a closer look, the voice of the Lord called out to him, ‘I am the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ Moses shook with terror and did not dare to look.
Acts of the Apostles 7:31‭-‬32 NLT

If God can use a Bush to speak to a murderer then God can use us. God is willing to speak and use us only if we are willing to listen and go. No matter what we have done in our past or if we dont think that we are able to do it. He will lead us.

  63. 59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Stephen even at his last of life worshiped and praised and admired the Lord. We need to be more like him, Stephen didn’t let anything stop him from worshiping the Lord. Never let any temptations or anything stop you from praising your Lord. Start spreading his word, he is the light and the fire.

  64. 30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

If God can go in a burning bush don’t u think he can go in you and help you spread the word of God

  65. 46 Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

I am surrounded by God’s favor. Psalms 5:12

  66. “And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭7:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

No matter where you go or what you go through, God is with you. No matter how alone you feel, God is with you. No matter how you think that people have taken advantage of you, God is with you.

  67. Protect the children

19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

This is what the enemy is after. He knows he cannot turn us because our minds are made up but if he can get his whisperes into our children’s ears, he can win. We have to build up a hedge of protection around our children by teaching them and equipping them with the knowledge and wisdom in the word of God. We must protect the children.

  68. 30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

You want God to speak to you. Then draw near to Him like Moses did.

  69. When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

Truth is sometimes not taken well by all. Some will not like it. Yet it was still delivered with boldness and in the end Stephen let the result up to God.

  70. 52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

When I read this, I think about how some people’s hearts are hardened and they do not want to hear the truth. I believe that hearing the truth when you are living a life of sin is not something you want to hear or can accept. One must have an open heart, an open ear, and an open mind in order to be open to receive the word, the truth. I feel that the more I listen I more I hear, the more time I spend in the word, the more I understand, and the more I understand the more I need and want to live the truth. My eyes are more open, my heart more filled, and my ears more open to the word of God. I especially see this in our world today, those that are in sin want nothing to do with the truth or those that wish to share the truth. They shout, they yell and they call names to anyone that does not agree with them. These agents of sin, seem to be getting bolder and angrier for the truth is upsetting to them. I pray that more people will listen, and turn away from sin. For my life has never been better as to now as I thirst for his word, and truth. Praise you Jesus, thank you my savior for not giving up on me, and being kind, merciful with me. You are such a great God, and I’m honored that you have changed my life around and that you loved me enough to die for me, and to give me the opportunity to serve you. In your name Jesus, I pray, Hallelujah, amen.

  71. Acts 7:32
Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

Chasing after a God that i living is super easy, chasing after a God thats never let you down or steered you wrong is even easier. From testimony to testimony in the entire Bible we see how God never shook anyone and a direction to where it brought fourth death. Our personal testimony are for those that have yet to receive Christ. A lot of people I’ve witnessed to i can sit there and tell them bible all day and they may not be as excited when i share with them that Noah built an arch or David slew a giant or Daniel interpret the kings dreams. Some are more excited when i tell them things that they can relate to and things that give them hope. Like i was delivered from addiction, or Ive seen deaf people receive their hearing and people receive knee replacements. Then who can they deny, at that point their putting doubt in theirselves. Lets be faithful to our Lord its easy when you know he can do it!

  72. Acts 7:32
Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

its easy to follow a God we know thats gonna deliver us but your testimony alone could build someone else’s faith to believe what God can do. Share your testimony today and watch someones life change in front of you its the most beautiful thing we can experience as christians us to be a witness to those who unbelief

  73. ““The next day he visited them again and saw two men of Israel fighting. He tried to be a peacemaker. ‘Men,’ he said, ‘you are brothers. Why are you fighting each other?’ “But the man in the wrong pushed Moses aside. ‘Who made you a ruler and judge over us?’ he asked.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭7:26-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When Moses offered deliverance to Israel, he was rejected and rejected with spite. Israel denied that he had any right to be a ruler and a judge over them.
    Stephen’s message was plain…
You have rejected Jesus, who was like Moses yet greater than him, and you deny that Jesus has any right to be a ruler and a judge over you.

Same as today many reject Jesus for things that look appealing to their own desires of this world. And we as Moses and Stephen we need to tell the world who is Jesus.

  74. 49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

I love how most of this chapter is the short version of twenty to thirty chapters worth of Genesis. If Heaven is his throne and footstool what in the world could we possible offer Him. Just as he says, “. . . Hath not my hand made all these things?” But that is the point. . . What do we have to offer and yet He wants to know what kind of house we will provide for Him. Our body is a temple. What do you do with your temple? What do you do to keep your temple in order?? He is asking.

  75. “Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:14-15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Those that thirst for it. Let them come. They will find a way. One way or another. The truth does what it does. And people draw closer to it.

  76. And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place. God is the only one who should judge and these people are Lucky he is

  77. And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place. God is the only one who should judge and these people are Lucky he is

  78. Throughout the scriptures we how different levels of faithfulness resulted in different outcomes. Direct testament to how we should keep our own level of faithfulness to be ready at all times to exercise this faith working within us. The level of faith will directly determine the outcome of the problems for ourselves and for others. The faithfulness to all things with God will become stronger everyday as we Give Jesus and Live Jesus showing this faithfulness in each of these.
