Acts 28

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

11 And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

12 And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

14 Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

16 And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

19 But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.

20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

  1. Be bold for God will be by your side he will the tools and you just have to use them. People will judge you and change their minds about you but I know a God who’s greater than anything or anyone he won’t change his mind about you .

  2. Paul was a very innovative thinker. He always had a way of piquing their interest, drawing an ear to what God had given him to say, speak and preach. We too must become creative in whatever situation we may find ourselves in. We cannot always see the big picture that God can; so, we must trust in the Lord as He will get us to our next destination or our next opportunity to share what He has called us to share…..His word.

1 Timothy 4:11-14 MSG says “Get the word out. Teach all these things. And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. Stay at your post reading Scripture, giving counsel, teaching. And that special gift of ministry you were given when the leaders of the church laid hands on you and prayed—keep that dusted off and in use.” So be creative and Use It…..Don’t Lose It……as we LIVE-GIVE JESUS!

  3. 3. And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

    4. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

    5. And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Don’t let the old serpent stop you from gathering fuel for THE FIRE, but let THE FIRE destroy anything that tries to destroy you! 🔥

  4. Acts 28:27-28 [ For the heart ( the under- standing ,
the soul) of this people has grown dull ( stupid , hardened, and calloused) , and their ears are heavy and hard of hearing and they have shut tight their eyes, so that they may not perceive and have knowledge and become acquainted with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their souls and turn [ to Me and be converted], that I may heal them.
[ 28] So let it be understood by you then that [ thismessage of ] the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen to it] !
Ps 67:2] That Your way may be know upon the earth, Your saving power, Your deliverances and Your salvation) among all nations.
Lord my prayer today is to unplug ears to hear your word , and soften there hearts . To come to repentance . Keep on witnessing and persuading in Jesus name.

  5. Thank you Jesus for today

Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.
    1 Timothy 4:16

  6. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

When we are full of the Holy Ghost, we will have dominion and authority over the enemy. We will be able to come through the battle unharmed and we shall see victory. The scripture tells us the no weapon formed against us shall prosper. No matter what we shall endure, we will overcome it through the power of Jesus name. As the viper bit Paul, he knew that he would not be affected because of the faith he had in Jesus Christ.

    Mark 16:18 states they-
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

This is what happened with Paul. The people received him and while he was with them he healed Publius father that was sick. When we have faith that will move mountains God’s anointing will be on us and we will be a great witness for him. We as the church today have the greatest opportunity to show the goodness and mercy of God through the preaching of his word. When we live Jesus as Paul did, the presence of God was available to give to others. And that is what we have to do in order to be ready to receive the great harvest of our time. The church has to be ready willing and able to do what God called us to do.

  7. 25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

  8. 8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

When we start having miracles people will start coming from every where to be healed

  9. 22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

I can appreciate how Paul was available at all times ready to teach and preach the word of God. He was equipped with the law of Moses and the word from the prophets as well as the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul was ready in season and out of season. during the time that it was forbidden to preach the gospel, it drew more people in. There are people out there ready to hear the word. They don’t care about other people’s opinions nor do they care about traditions. They just want to know what the truth is and we have been commissioned to love and to teach them just that. Being ready in season and out of season

  10. 4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

We must be very careful for people’s opinion changes quite quickly one day you’re bad another your good and vice a versa. That’s why we shouldn’t be concern about people’s opinion but we MUST be an example of Christ in their lives. Always teaching about baptism in Jesus Name, receiving the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in other tongues, and making sure that they know there is only ONE GOD!! Give JESUS everywhere you go!!!

  11. I learned that a poisonous snake 🐍 bit him on the hand 🖐 and they all thought 💭 that he was going to die but went they saw that the wasn’t harmed they thought 💭 he was a god

Happy 😃 28th day of 40 days of the fire 🔥

  12. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

This ought to teach each one of us something. Notice that Paul taught this Bible Study from morning till evening. Paul broke down the entire Old Testament revealing the Law of Moses and the books of the Prophets were speaking about Jesus. Paul full of signs, wonders, and the Holy Ghost could not (through bible study or preaching) convince the people to believe in Christ.

Why do we take it so personal?

  13. “Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:30-31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

All the struggles Paul went through could seem overwhelming and make you want to give up. However, for Paul , it presented more opportunities to wittiness.

  14. Shipwrecked in the midst of rain , cold weather , natives. Pail continues to serve. He goes to gather wood and what happens. A snake . Yet Paul just shakes it off. Serving with determination and knowing that God had said he still had more to do . Perseverance, endurance and not just a passion but there was a purpose and a promise that Paul knew would be fulfilled.

1 Timothy 4:14 New King James Version (NKJV)
14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

Maybe your gifting is not the boldness of Paul not perseverance in the time of adversity. Maybe you say I can’t , I’m no good at this I just can’t get it right …..we must remember it is not by our own strength but the gift that lies within us. The gift is the power of the Holy Ghost . You can’t but God can !

Paul was equipped with the power of the Holy Ghost . The Gift that is within each of us . If each of us would share our own life story of being shipwrecked during our walk with God what a testimony of God’s power.
Song after songs have been written but truly when I take a look back over my life and see the unknown freezing rain , natives strangers and vipers that have tried to stop what God wanted I have to truly believe with all my heart and mind that God will be there and has been there . I don’t like some of the trials and can’t even stand sometime to think about them but I know that it has been through the grace of God and His strength that keeps me moving in serving in spite of …..you may feel shipwrecked today and in the midst of trials you do not understand. You cannot quit serving. The rain may be bitterly cold and you are not sure if you can go another step . Paul had to gather sticks no he chose to gather sticks he could have waited fir the others to do it but he proceeded serving . He knew that a fire had to be built . Keep gathering the sticks the fire will warm you will refresh you will dry out the cold . Don’t allow any viper distractions , discouragements nothing to keep you from building the fire . Fire in the altar never go out. Paul shook off the viper and continued building his fire. My fire candle that is sitting on my table has a problem this year . Some kind of a defect . I go over to it it’s not burning . I pick it up shake a bit, sit back down on the table it lights up . Then I leave for the day and come back and it’s happened again . I shake it it comes back on. Is this God’s way of reminding me each day to shake off the vipers if this world and keep my fire going or is it a defective item. Maybe both but I too want to keep the fire burning and be reminded it is the fire that I keep burning and that I must kindle and rekindle daily. Stir up the gift that is within you . Acts 1:8 which is my constant reminder You shall receive power and even in the midst of a shipwreck you can build a fire !

  15. Some were persuaded by the things he said, but others did not believe. And after they had argued back and forth among themselves, they left with this final word from Paul: “The Holy Spirit was right when he said to your ancestors through Isaiah the prophet, ‘Go and say to this people: When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’ So I want you to know that this salvation from God has also been offered to the Gentiles, and they will accept it.”
Acts of the Apostles 28:24‭-‬28 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.28.24-28.NLT

God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Today if we are called to go spread the gospel at a PTA meeting or at our job (for example) there may be some people that are interested in what is said, but there will be some that close their ears to our word. It is between them and God if they choose to receive the gospel. We have to remember not to take it personally and just move on to the next one. There are hungry people out there. The Lord will lead us to them!!

  16. “As Paul gathered an armful of sticks and was laying them on the fire, a poisonous snake, driven out by the heat, bit him on the hand. The people of the island saw it hanging from his hand and said to each other, “A murderer, no doubt! Though he escaped the sea, justice will not permit him to live.” But Paul shook off the snake into the fire and was unharmed. The people waited for him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw that he wasn’t harmed, they changed their minds and decided he was a god.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭28:3-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There’s so much we can learn and apply from this passage. First thing I noticed was Paul was SERVING, he was focused at the task at hand as he gathering sticks for the fire. And while the heat increased it brought out the impurities of Paul’s surroundings. At times, there can be hidden impurities that surround us. The Fire is a great time for those impurities to arise and be exposed. Secondly, Paul was LEADING without saying one word. I have heard it said repeatedly, “ Leaders lead at ALL times.” And this was no exception. At times our leadership may be misunderstood and what people don’t understand they criticize. It’s not an easy road on Leadership Drive but with the help of the Lord we can do it. Thirdly, Paul was FULL PERSUADED. His faith was not wavered by the snake bite nor from his critics. He simply shook it back into the fire that it came from and moved on. There are times were this maybe difficult to do when the oppositions are personal and closer to home. But we must go back and do what we know to do and that’s to seek God first. And know that in time the truth will speak for itself. God is fighting for us!

  17. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    THE FIRE

3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

40 Days of FIRE is likened to this passage. We gather wood; prayer, bible study, fasting, worship, giving, sharing the gospel. Much like Paul our surroundings are cool and damp toward the gospel and some have been bitten.

Not a literal serpent, but the deceitful, subtle, serpent of lies and deception. You don’t really need the Church, they don’t really care about you, the pastor doesn’t really care about you. Look at what they are doing…

We witnessed on Sunday Night that there is a definite call in the Spirit from the LORD to shake off the serpent of deception into the FIRE. The FIRE is not a waste, it is an opportunity to show the world, the lost how powerful our Lord JESUS is.

We must keep The FIRE on our altar burning day and night, The FIRE on the ALTAR is The FIRE we shake our fears, adversaries and challenges in to. THE FIRE is important in extraordinary times such as now.

Do you have The FIRE burning? Did you get bit by the deception serpent while gathering wood for The FIRE? Today, it is TIME to shake it off.

Miracles, signs and wonders this week at The POFW shake it off in THE FIRE.

  18. 26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

We must be creative not only to spread joy but to capture hearts. Some people are so lost that simply hearing the word will not do. As a church we must constintantly come up with new ways of getting peoples attention. Even on our own sometimes it takes random acts of kindness just to plant those seeds and to draw them in. These 2 verses couldnt be more true. People are so wrapped up in this world that Jesus has become foreign to them.

  19. They were upset. That they were being told BECAUSE YOUR SO HARD HEADED ILL GIVE IT TO SOMEBODY ELSE.

Still not able to understand why their being told this. They are forced to know that the gentiles will be getting what they deserved. They see the gentiles as people no equal to themselves, not on the same level – dirty. But God saw us right. He saw us capable of seeing the truth. Hungry and hurt we are. But we get to experience truth through God.

““Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it!” And when he had said these words, the Jews departed and had a great dispute among themselves.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:28-29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  20. 31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

At the beginning of this chapter we find Paul’s encounter with a serpent. We see Paul’s willingness to shake it into the fire and keep on moving.

Then we get to the end of the chapter and see Paul teaching and preaching the Kingdom and Jesus. Serpents come in many forms and ways in life and it just might be that if we fail to shake it off into the fire it will stop up from doing what we are called to do.

Jealousy, contention, and sin are all serpents that will wrap its self around our joy, destiny, and future just to choke the life out of it. We must be about the Kingdom and teaching Jesus. Let’s not allow things to hinder Kingdom advancement.

  21. 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

The people was judging Paul because the snake had bitten him, but when no harm came to him they changed their minds and thought he was a god.

People form opinions about us. We cannot allow that to dictate who we are. If we remain faithful and consistent in our walk with God, they will be able to see that we are genuine and love God with all our hearts. Don’t let what they say when you testify of the transformation taking place in our lives sway you.

We should all be ever changing everyday….becoming more in the image and likeness of God. The more of Him we put into our lives, the more we digest the WORD, the more transparent we should become and the more JESUS should be seen.

  22. “For two years Paul stayed in a rented house and welcomed everyone who came to see him. He bravely preached about God’s kingdom and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ, and no one tried to stop him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:30-31‬ ‭CEV‬‬

No matter where Paul was, he never failed to preach/teach about the KINGDOM OF GOD. He never lost his vision or purpose on what was more important in his life. Many times we go through some stuff in our lives and step back or step down from ministry. But if we are not careful we can lose our purpose in our own lives. Even though our eyes have seen our children backslide and our hearts have felt great pain we are still walking and working in His kKingdom. It has not been by our strength, but by the strength The LORD has given us. Our purpose in life will always be greater, we are here to endure until the end.

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:12-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  23. 28:30 and Paul dwelt two whole years in his hired house,
And received all that came unto him preaching the kingdom of God and teaching all those things…

    ——
    Preach it no matter what!!!
The word of God, the good news, the gospel must be preach
    Shared, everywhere, all the time.
Let’s turn circumstances into opportunities …..
Paul all the way from he was at to Rome , some how he shared Jesus and was a witness, he gave a word of encouragement, then they witness something that blew their minds when he got bitten by the snake….
In every circumstance the name of Jesus was glorified 🙌

  24. I AM BLESSED.

It’s easy to get caught up in the pattern of thinking too much about what we do not have or what we no longer partake of as children of God. We can sometimes fall into a pattern of this loathing. Something in life triggers a memory or desire, we contemplate the consequences or immediately deny the temptation. However, sometimes we continue to think about times past when we indulged in these activities. Now we have to encourage ourselves because we allowed ourselves to be bogged down by something we have been delivered from.

This morning was a bit rough for me. A memory came flooding in and fell into a self-pity party that seemed bottomless. Of course, at the time, I did not realize or recognize what was happening to me. I wallowed for a while. Then it hit me – why am I doing this? This does not make me feel better, in fact, it is the opposite reaction.

I dug up the words of God – I think myself happy. I began with a simple prayer. It soon turned into a worship session and victory came crashing over me. What a journey!

As I read the blog chapters today – I simply could not get past what was on my mind…

    I AM BLESSED.

  25. And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

  26. Live Jesus, Give Jesus…..people are always gonnabe wishy washy at times and hungry at times also desperate. Giving Jesus should help them to realize that even though with Jesus you will still have wins and losses but wit Jesus you have a helper, comforter and forever friend. Jesus is the best!!

  27. So in Acts Chapter 28 it’s talking about the Barbarous people and how they created stuff back in the day like in verse 2 they are talking about how the people would learn to start a fire because of the rain and the cold then Paul would get sticks and lit a fire then the barbarians saw the Monster and they said this man is a murderer and even though he tried to escape the sea he yet not to live then he shook the beast then they looked at the beast to see if he was swollen or had no harm come to him and then they changed their minds and the man was a god AMEN!!!

  28. 17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

Paul didn’t wait for rumor to catch up to him, he called for the elders and presented his case. He was able to teach and preach Jesus to them using his creativity before they could harden their hearts against him and have a closed mind. I think of Sunday school opening and how this team has used their creativity to safely teach our children. With God, all things are possible if you truly search for the way to do it. And Paul is a great example to follow in thinking outside of the box.

  29. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

In the matter of minutes, without him even saying one word; they had formed two different opinions about Paul.

People will talk, they will think what they want. Do not let that control who you become.

But do as Paul did; continue to serve! The truth of who you are will be evident In how you live for Him!

  30. Acts 28:3-6
“And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live. And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm. Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.”

Bishop Tenney preached a sermon that has always stuck with me. People will bite at us with words that are just as lethal as poison but we must not let that type of venom vex our spirit. You’ve got to shake it off in the fire! Pastor has many times reminded us that the Word of God is our fire, so therefore must use scripture to rebuke the words of those would bite us to wound our spirit!!!! GOD IS AN ALL CONSUMING FIRE!!!!!

  31. In this chapter, we are still on the topic from yesterday with Paul and the ship accident. They land on an island and the people on the island set them a fire. A snakes jumps out of nowhere and bit Paul, but he just shakes it off. Everyone thought Paul was crazy! They soon found out Paul had power, so they started to revive miracles on this island. That stayed on that island for abut 3 whole months. Paul told everyone about Jesus and they believed him.

  32. I learned that Paul and the other men went on an island. The people made a fire for them. Paul gathered some sticks and threw them in the fire and a snake came out and bit him, but he was not harmed. If you’re a man of God, you will not be harmed from one bite of a snake.

  33. Pual is at a island and he whet to go fix the wood a snake bit him and he was not harmed
I learned that you should believe that god is going to do it he will

  34. 25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

Paul was the Vessel that God sent for everyone to see that despite of his old ways he had a change of heart and understood his salvation was important to save himself and to please God.

As we all know we have to die everyday because we are humans and the flesh is tempted to the things of this world. We all can serve God and please him daily by trusting him and having faith even at the size of a mustard seed.

Discipline is not easy but with God all is possible, I’m far from perfect, I love God and will do my best to not let him down, When I struggle I’m encouraged by him even when no one else is there for me. Paul gave his life to Jesus and so have I.

  35. 24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Some will agree and believe, some will not. Some will close their ears and their eyes to not hear the whole truth. The Word of God will prevail and will continue to spread to those who are hungry for truth, the whole truth (not just the parts convenient or that agree with their life). If you find yourself picking and choosing; if you find yourself compromising, check yourself with the Word and get back in line or the Word will pass on to those who are truly hungry and willing to live a life righteous and holy. We must open our ears, our eyes, and our hearts EVERYDAY to receive a Word from God. If we are daily receiving from Him, there’s no doubt in my mind, we will be walking in line with His Word because His Word leads, directs, and convicts.

  36. “When they had set a day for Paul, they came to his lodging in large numbers. And he carefully explained [Christianity] to them from morning until evening, solemnly testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, both from the Law of Moses and from the [writings of the] Prophets. Some were persuaded by what he said, but others would not believe.

And Paul lived there for two full years [at his own expense] in his own rented lodging and welcomed all who came to him, preaching and proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness and boldness, unhindered and unrestrained.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:23-24, 30-31‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Paul never lost his faith. He continued to witness to the lost. In spite of whether they accepted it or not he never lost hope. Some will be willing to accept the word some will not but we have to not take it personally. We must realize what we are doing and who we are doing it for. We are not witnessing for our personal benefit, we are witnessing to bring souls into the kingdom. So we must continue to keep the faith and not take it personally when some reject what is being spoken. This is why it is important to stay prayed up, fasted up, and to read your word. Let’s not loose hope!

  37. In a time of sickness I believe if we lay hands on them they will be healed. My God is a healer and a redeemer he is what ever you need and want. Call on his name and watch him work miracles

  38. “Paul pitched in and helped. He had gathered up a bundle of sticks, but when he put it on the fire, a venomous snake, roused from its torpor by the heat, struck his hand and held on. Seeing the snake hanging from Paul’s hand like that, the natives jumped to the conclusion that he was a murderer getting his just deserts. Paul shook the snake off into the fire, none the worse for wear. They kept expecting him to drop dead, but when it was obvious he wasn’t going to, they jumped to the conclusion that he was a god!”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:3-6‬ ‭MSG‬‬
Paul was faithful to God and living as a true servant. But this did not keep him from this trial. His humble service brought out a viper, and the viper didn’t just nibble on Paul – it fastened on his hand.
Paul didn’t let it bother him. He didn’t scream, “Why God? I can’t take any more of this!” or “Can’t You see I’m serving You?” Paul didn’t look at those sitting by the fire and say, “You lazy people! If you gathered wood instead of me, this wouldn’t have happened to me!” Instead He just shook off the Viper into the fire.

  39. 21 They replied, “We have had no letters from Judea or reports against you from anyone who has come here. 22 But we want to hear what you believe, for the only thing we know about this movement is that it is denounced everywhere.”

There are many who have never heard of Jesus. They know of a god, but don’t know the truth. Many are hungry and ready to listen. We just have to be ready to teach them about God, and who Jesus is. They want to hear what and why we believe in God. Lets Live-Give Jesus.

  40. “And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:3, 5, 14, 16, 30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Talk about creative faith! Paul gets bit by a venomous snake, doesn’t panic, does like he did in Acts 13 and shook it off. Then, still a prisoner on his way to appeal to Caesar in Rome, Paul continues to connect with friends along the way. When he gets to Rome, he’s allowed to live in his own space with a soldier and for two years was preaching and teaching anyone who came to him.

Paul had creative faith to where his situation should have controlled his commitment to God but it didn’t. He continued to work in his ministry, doing God’s will, and walked in God’s favor every step of the way.

I thank God that His Word shows us that we are in this world but not of this world, insomuch that He would allow us to be free when by the worlds’ standards we should be in chains. I pray we learn from Paul’s testimony that we shouldn’t idolize our situation and wallow in our sorrows but continue to have faith in the One who will never fail nor forsake us.

  41. I Love To Worship The Lord
    vs-3-4
    The Living Bible
As Paul gatherd an armful of sticks to lay on the fire a poisonous snake driven out by the heat fastened itself onto his hand.
    vs-4
The people on the island saw it hanging there and said to each other A murderer no doubt. Though he escaped the sea justice will not permit him to live.
The snakebite was at first assumed as proof Paul was a criminal. When he survived it was thought to be proof he was a god.
How foolish it is to jump to conclusions from observation of an incident or two. Lets be more wise in withholding judgment on others whether that judgment condemns or exalts.

  42. Acts 28
Once Paul was save on shore of the island of Malta the islanders were unkind to him. A viper fastened itself on Pauls hand as he was making a fire. The islanders thought he was a devil until they noticed it didn’t swell or seem to hurt him at all. He never complained, he just shook it off! Paul ended up healing the sick that had fever and dysentery. They furnished Paul with supplies to sail. Paul arrived in Rome and was preaching to them. He told them that Gods salvation has been sent to the Gentiles. Paul stayed there for two years and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ with boldness and without hinderance.

No matter the circumstances with Paul, he commits himself to our Lord Jesus Christ. He represents a true leader.

  43. 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

It show us that no matter what you have gone through in your life or what you’re going through right now in your life god will take care of you through it and will always allow you to take it and turn it into your testimony, there are so many people who are struggling with situations today and they think that they’re at the end but that’s when we need to tell them about the goodness of god and what he can do with brokenness.

  44. Acts 28:30-31
    30) And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him.
    31) Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

    “With All Confidence”
What did Paul do? He received ALL that came in unto him; he Preached the kingdom of God and taught those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ unto them; and He did it “With All Confidence.”

This is why we must READ The WORD and LIVE JESUS Daily, so that we can GIVE JESUS “With All Confidence” to ALL those that we come in contact with.

LIVE JESUS – GIVE JESUS “With All Confidence.”

  45. v31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him .

    The gospel to this World.
No room for doubt but with all confidence.
God is sovereign over all things, including the perceived gods of the earth.
We have a promise that everybody will someday worship Him.
” All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. For the kingdom is the Lord’s: and he is the governor among the nations ” Psalms 22:27-28

We must continue to share salvation with this world with all confidence .
    He Is Lord!

  46. 15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

    Amen

  47. And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita. And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold. (Acts 28 1-2)

It wasn’t by mistake that Paul and those traveling with him were shipwrecked in this particular location. While Melita was a known island, this particular side of the island did not receive as much foot track as other parts–the men did not immediately know of there where abouts I take it form how it is written. The literally meaning of Melita or Malta means honey, but some scholars studies of old language to mean refuge. Both translations are fitting, as this is the place were God would use Paul to poor out his word to gentiles and were Paul would find refuge from those who wish harm upon him.

In the following verse, scripture called the people barbarous. The word barbarous means uncivilized or lacking of culture or refinement. Yet the people showed kindness and welcomed the men. It wasn’t that these people weren’t judgemental, as we quickly see in verse 3-6. But they were a people that wanted to hear what Paul had to say. (V22-But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect…) These were a people who the Luke described as uncivilized but had a desire and hunger for the word of God. Paul was just ran off by people who witnessed the empty grave of Jesus- but had turned there back on truth. However God places Paul on a boat and shipwrecked (delivered) him to those who would receive HIS word (honey).

This is a prefect example of one submitting themselves to the calling of God, and then God placing them actually where they will have the greatest impact on his kingdom.

  48. 26. Saying, Go unto this people and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shalt not understand; and seeing ye shall see; and not perceive: 27. For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 28. Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. 29. And when he had said these words the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves. 30. And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, 31. Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

  49. Hechos 28:3-6

    * ” Habiendo recogido Pablo algunas ramas secas”

    * “Ningún daño padeció”

  50. Having faith in God brings peace in every situation

    Acts 28:27 KJV
[27] For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

    Acts 28:31 KJV
[31] Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

    〰️Exodus 4:4-5 KJV
[4] And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: [5] That they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

    • 2 Corinthians 1:20 KJV
[20] For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him : for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The word of God never changes Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

  51. 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

7 In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

There are times that God will take you to some places where it my be uncomfortable but it is to reach someone.
If Paul never would have had the ship wreck then he would never would tell the people about Jesus.

Never over look where you are. God made have placed you there to reach someone

  52. I am bound with hope

    Acts 28:20
“For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.”
    ‭‭
There are situations that we cannot control in everyone’s life but when you have hope they do not slow you down. My dad use to say “ That’s no hill for a stepper” meaning you’ve stepped over many things already in your life so what is one more? Jesus gives us hope in hopeless situations because we know that he is our hope. When we receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost we have hope built inside of us, built in. When I stir up that gift I am Bound with Hope! There is no hope like my Hope because there is no God like our God!

  53. Some were persuaded by the things he said, but others did not believe.
    Acts 28:24 NLT

We can teach, preach and tell others about Jesus and His Word. We can persuade people until we are blue in the face and show them the way of salvation and still some will not believe.
Just because some won’t believe must not discourage us but encourage us and light a fire to continue to share His Word. Remeber one soul is worth more than all the money in the world.

  54. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

In the midst of the Fire God has lit the enemy is going to come in swift and like a snake to take a bite of you and try to tear you down, but by the power of the Holy Ghost! God will bring us thru!

  55. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

  56. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

God will protect us from harmful situations, when we are obedient to His word. It will serve as testimony to those who are watching you. As believers of God, many eyes are upon us watching our every move and just waiting to point out all of your failures. As Paul did, shake it off and keep going forward speaking the word of God. Don’t let the venom words/actions keep you from blessing those who are around you and hungry for God’s word.

  57. “Paul lived for two years in his rented house. He welcomed everyone who came to visit. He urgently presented all matters of the kingdom of God. He explained everything about Jesus Christ. His door was always open.”
    Acts 28:30-31 MSG

30 “Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.” KJV

Paul had an open door, welcomed everyone, and then continually explained everything about Jesus. This lets me know that Paul wasn’t one person in the public, and someone different at home. That his character was the same no matter where he was at, or who was around. As well as the importance of sharing Jesus at ALL Times.

If we are to be apostolic, we should Welcome Everyone.
No matter their genetics, background, or differences. Everyone is a child of God, and is worthy to be treated as such.

    Have an Open Door.
Ministry is raw, humble, and honest. To truly impact those who we are Living and Giving Jesus with, we will have to be open with them. You will have to open up for others to be comfortable to open up to you. Consistently being the same Jesus-living person no matter where they are.

Preaching the Kingdom of God and Sharing Jesus
There should never be a day for a Living and Giving Jesus Saint to go without sharing something about Jesus. When we truly LIVE Jesus, we cannot wait to GIVE Jesus to someone!

Through applying the principles learned in the closing chapters of Acts, we can be apostolic in LIVING and GIVING Jesus!

  58. “So I want you to know that this salvation from God has also been offered to the Gentiles, and they will accept it.””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭28:28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This Scripture means that, Salvation is granted to everyone not just for The Israelites. We can be saved by Repenting, and being Baptized In The Name Of Jesus, and receiving The Gift Of The Holy Ghost.

  59. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

    1 Peter 4:12
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.

Don’t be surprised when you try to keep your fire burning, that satan lays wait to attack you. It is unfavorable to satan to have Gods people on Fire for God.

Many people complain or take is as a bad thing that things go “wrong” when they try and change there ways to serve God. But the fact that the enemy is on the attach trying to discourage you from achieving what you set our to do for God, should be the indicator that your on the right path.

So don’t be surprised, but take it as confirmation that your doing the right thing.

  60. 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

As the people of God there are things that will come your way and try to harm you. Don’t worry about those things because God gives us the power to shake those things off. In him we are given authority over the things in this world. Our God had all power back then and still has all power now. He is the one true living God.

  61. 30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Paul wanted everyone to hear and listen to the word of God, so no matter who came and visited him he welcomed them all. And taught them all about the Lord and his word. This means that no matter where they come from, or what they do, or how they dress or act, none of that shouldn’t matter. What matters is helping them fall into the life of God, showing them and telling them how God saved us and how he can save them. Spreading the word of God everyday is very important.

  62. After reading this chapter, I thought about how Paul persevered through faith in Jesus Christ in his distress. Though he was bonds yet he abounded in favor with God. He had come to spiritual maturity in God. Paul was a good example of how Saints of the most high shall respond in times of tribulation. He continued to give a reason of the hope that was within him; it was business as usual. This faith comes through relationship with God and God must provide the Grace from Faith to Faith. So, it’s okay to say, “I’m not there yet but I will keep seeking You until You build up my faith that I might be the servant that you want me to be in these last and evil days.” Then I can say to my mountain be thou removed and be cast into the sea, in the name of Jesus Christ!Amen.

  63. 31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him

Though all of the struggles Paul had been through he still kept on talking about Jesus and teaching people. That’s what we should strive for we should be able to talk to about Jesus to anyone, at any time, and any place. For that is one of our commandment Jesus left for us his people to do. And even if people might not like it that we’re talking about God to others it just shouldn’t matter. Because we are living jesus and with living with him and him dwelling within us we should be giving Jesus so much easier.

  64. 31 He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!

“with all boldness and without hindrance!”

a thing that provides resistance, delay, or obstruction to something or someone.

Paul told everyone he could about Jesus, without resistance, delay or obstruction. We should live everyday with that kind of boldness!

  65. 8 As it happened, Publius’s father was ill with fever and dysentery. Paul went in and prayed for him, and laying his hands on him, he healed him. 9 Then all the other sick people on the island came and were healed.

The same person that got bitten by a snake is the same person that prayed for souls and healed. Sometimes we have to pass through the fire so that we can see the blessings. The heat might be real hot but at the end we will see what we have been praying for. No matter how hot the fire gets its for our own good. Jesus wants to mold us and sometimes we just have to be broken down to be used of God. We much keep pushing through the fire and remember that God is with us in EVERY STEP!!!!!

  66. 30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Paul lived his life in a manner of openly sharing the Gospel and teaching others to follow Jesus right from where he already was. In all of this, he continued on in boldness. He took ownership of the Gospel by sharing with all who came to him in the place He was. Jesus calls all of us to do the same. We must thing today, how can you boldly live out the Gospel? Where has God placed us to live and who are our neighbors to love and share the Gospel with?

  67. 26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

As I read this verse, it sadly speaks to me, for I wish that every person would listen and understand, and see and Perceive. I can’t even begin to imagine how much it must hurt Jesus so, so much more, for the creator of the Universe to have his most amazing creation not give him praise, worship, and song. I pray that I may bring some of his lost sheep back to where they belong. I desire to be a Sheppard to his lost flock and I pray that I may seek out and return his lost sheep. Thank you my savior, hallelujah Praise be to Jesus.

  68. 24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

The apostle preached not himself, but Christ, and he was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. We must preach Christ all the time, it’s all about His Kingdom.

  69. “For the next two years, Paul lived in Rome at his own expense. He welcomed all who visited him, boldly proclaiming the Kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one tried to stop him.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭28:30-31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Paul went through many obstacles with the Jews. Paul remained true to the Lord’s will and he kept them safe from harm. Paul boldly preaches and teaches about the Lord Jesus Christ, with no one hindering him. Glory be to God.

  70.  And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

Great lesson on hospitality we read here. We must need be ready. Yet most importantly we need to be ready with the Fire on the Holy Ghost to receive them that are coming from a lost and cold situations of life.

  71. Acts 28:28-31 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had a great reasoning among themselves. And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man for bidding him.

Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought speak.

  72. “Then all the other sick people on the island came and were healed. As a result we were showered with honors, and when the time came to sail, people supplied us with everything we would need for the trip.”(Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭28:9-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

  73. 30-31 Paul lived for two years in his rented house. He welcomed everyone who came to visit. He urgently presented all matters of the kingdom of God. He explained everything about Jesus Christ. His door was always open.

This world will always judge us because we aren’t apart of it and we shouldn’t let it impact us. When we live a life in his favor let others see and hear God. Whether they don’t like what they see or hear we must trust God to do his work. We need to make known that God and the church welcomes everyone into his kingdom.

  74. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

When we are Putting wood in our fire something will try to take your fire but if your are feeding your fire daily it will not affect you for your fire is strong and light.

  75. 27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

This is a word that still stands today and we gotta push the word of God out there in our jobs in our streets in our homes or wherever we may be. Good things happen to those who spread Gods Word. i was sharing a testimony yesterday with a guy who was a bit discomforted about serving more. he had a list of excuses and then i begin to tell him the many testimonies i had personally had God provided through so much and how far God has taken me just in the past 4 years. When you seek ye first the kingdom he will supply so much for you and you will be blessed beyond measures you could ever imagine. Share his word and don’t worry about tomorrow for tomorrow is in the Lords hands!

  76. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Just because bad things happen to someone, people immediately think they are not living right. This may be true but also, it could be the Lord working to show others his glory.

  77. 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

People continuously keep watching us! They watch us often. They see a miracle or a change in our life, normally for the better, but they continuously watching to see if it’s fake or if it’s all a show. Some may put us on a pedestal in their mind but we are always needing to ensure the realization that it is not by us, but that it is all God

  78. 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

So wonderful how good God is.
Paul knew without a doubt that God had him in His hands.

  79. “When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, the goddess Justice has not allowed him to live.” But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects. The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead; but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:4-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Pail was merely gathering wood for the fire they built when a snake bit him and grabbed a hold of him. He wasn’t doing anything to provoke the snake, he wasn’t causing trouble in the camp among the people, he wasn’t even aware the snake was there…he was just keeping the fire going. However, because the snake latched itself on him it immediately placed a title on him. I don’t know if Paul knew what the natives were thinking and saying amongst each other but I would presume he had a notion of the quick change in the atmosphere. Come on, we all know when the mood in a room changes. Had it been me the snake had latched into I would’ve felt the tension and the eyes that gazed in me and would’ve immediately felt something was wrong. Those feelings alone would have caused me to react accordingly….obviously in no less than a total panic! But that wasn’t the case with Paul, rather than reacting to the eyes that must’ve been on him, he simply threw the snake off and went about his business. The whispers of him being a murder continued to whisper throughout the camp but he did not fret and his life was spared. Once he showed no signs of being ill those whispered stopped and new whispers spread, instead of “murderer” he was now a “god.”

Many of us have been bitten by a viper and that has immediately caused others to label us. However, we all have a choice, we can either allow that viper to define us and die with the labels others have put on us or we can choose to shake the viper off and prove them wrong. We can shake the viper off and finish out what God has called us to do, living by his labels and definitions alone.

  80. 8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

Let the Lord use you wherever you go.
He wants to glorify Himself and save the lost.
Our God had a heart for souls and so should we. The Bible says that those who win souls are wise (Proverbs 11:30).

  81. “And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:25-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is a message just as true today as it was when Isaiah first said it or when Paul quoted it. Many hear and reject simply because they don’t want to turn to God and be healed of their sin.

  82. I imagine our blogs are to allow us to gain from our own understanding and inspiration the divine words of God and the scripture. When I see that word “Creativity” it calls upon many things. The creative nature of personalities, the creativity to instruct, to speak, to orate in a setting or preach. It means the ability or the gift, learned or God given; to take and make. Whether it is our time or a task, creativity speaks to all of us. The disciples often utilized this very thing in many ways, so perhaps the creativity within the word of God is that which talks to us regarding reaching others, engaging those in need, doing task that will creatively assist in unity. Just an extra thought.

  83. “And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee. But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul thought he was in trouble for what happened. He thought they would have heard accusations, but instead there was only curiosity. God knows well better than we do and no matter what we “think” may happen, he can work everything to the good.
