Acts 12

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.

20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king’s country.

21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.

  1. 4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

When the evil plans of the world come knocking on your door we have to remember that God has every opportunity to prove that he still has the situation under control. Peter being apprehended because of the Jews, the evil intention was to kill him. When the others began to pray for the welfare of Peter, God not only showed up but he showed out. The angel of the lord led Peter from the inner ward of the prison to the street without the guards even knowing he was gone. What was meant for evil God turned it around for good for Peter. He allowed the power of prayer to be known.

When the body of Christ come together in unity and begin to pray, walls come down and shackles fall off. There is nothing in this world that can hold us when we pray. The power that we possess will bring the toughest enemy to its knees. We have to be mindful that we activate power and dominion when we pray. We have the ability to see miracles, signs, and wonders when we pray. Through prayer the battle will be won. Through prayer mountains will be moved. Through prayer people will be healed and the dead raised up. Through the power of prayer our faith is activated and we can accomplish the impossible. Because with God all things are possible.

So in this day and hour we are in when all else has failed we have to pray. How can we live Jesus if we don’t pray. How can we give Jesus without prayer. The same power that delivered Peter because of prayer, is the same power that will bring our lost love ones to the altar and be filled with the Holy Ghost. It’s all under control when we pray.

  2. 17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

The first thing i had to do when i got the holy ghost was tell someone. Then i had to see everyone. When you was locked away for so long by the chains of addiction and bound by tormenting thoughts all you can do is rejoice when God delivers you. Though Peter was in physical prison he came to the door knocking in a physical body and the peoples hope and faith was being restored as they heard his voice. You never know what your testimony might hold. I was going on a 3 day drunk then God got ahold of me on that THIRD day and raised me up. I haven’t touched the bottle or pills or anything since then. This Gospel will set you free. IT WILL SET YOU FREE. When i share my testimony to the Lost i don’t water it down one bit, i get as real as the current situation they might even be in that very moment. I was sitting there on my front porch holding a beer, a cigarette and listening to the bible at the same time when my friend asked me What in the world i was doing…i looked up and set i don’t know I’m just trying to get right and that following weekend was when God lifted the addiction and the pain and suffering i was dealing with. I had tormenting thoughts from the things i had heard and seen from the people i grew up around. Not from my personal household but from close friends that i just wanted to help and save. I guess thats why my mentality now in the Kingdom is to reach and save the lost. Because i know there are people facing real things. God can deliver you, whoever reading this God can deliver your loved one your mother, your brother, your dad or sister…God can take something broken and use it for his goodness and his glory. You just keep praying and interceding and GOD WILL DO IT. I’m living testimony. So are you.

and i youre on the other end of this rope why don’t you go knocking and testify how God brought you out and watch the blessings of the Lord pour out

  3. 9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

I love this line of scripture, for when the Lord works miracles for us, even though we know he is amazing, we are still at times surprised by his glory and his works. He blesses us in ways that we could never imagine, and he does it with such ease, and gracefulness. I will never understand his ways and that’s wonderful to know, because I love his surprises, he knows exactly what and when we need, what it is we need. I pray that one day, I will be able to sit in his great presence and worship him, and let him know how thankful I am that he didn’t give up on me, or any of us that may have made such a mess of ourselves before we turned to him. I know that I will always be awestruck by his glory, his power, his grace, he is the most wonderful creator, and friend we could ever come to know. Thank you Jesus, thank you, thank you, thank you, I will never be able to say it enough. I praise and worship you Lord and I am so glad to be one of your humble servants. Hallelujahs to you Jesus, may all of my praise go to you Lord. Thank you Jesus.

  4. God’s never ending grace is with Peter as he is rescued from these prison walls and freed to continue spreading the good news. Peter was not all stressed out or had fear about his current situation as these verses say “….Peter slept like a baby…”. Peter knew who was on his side and knew that God was with him where ever he was and what ever situation he found himself in. My God is an on time God, whenever and where ever you find yourself needing to call upon His name. The Lord heard the prayers of the church for Peter and I know He will hear our prayers for this region.

Hebrews 4:16 AMP “Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].” So let us give thanks for His mercy and grace as we LIVE-GIVE JESUS!

  5. 14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

Sometimes I wonder why we pray if we’re not going to believe. All these people loved Peter and I had congregated together to pray over him but when seemingly God answered their prayer they dismissed the little girl’s announcement and thought he’d already died. I read this book a few years ago called “Christian Athiest” and it’s mainly about how we claim the faith in Christ but our lives do not reflect a manner in which we should be living. We claim faith but have no substance behind it when it’s put to the test. Faith does not come without test and trials and it gets put to the test quite often, as Christians we should stand our ground and what we know God has called us to do despite what any evidence says. The world says it’s hopeless but God says there’s hope. The church must unite in the fullness of faith.

  6. 22. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

    23. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

    Rise and shine and
    Give God the glory, glory
    Rise and shine and
    Give God the glory, glory
    Rise and shine and
    Give God the glory, glory
    Children of the Lord.

    Psalm 29:
    1. Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength.

    2. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

  7. “Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. So they sent a delegation to make peace with him because their cities were dependent upon Herod’s country for food. The delegates won the support of Blastus, Herod’s personal assistant, and an appointment with Herod was granted. When the day arrived, Herod put on his royal robes, sat on his throne, and made a speech to them. The people gave him a great ovation, shouting, “It’s the voice of a god, not of a man!” Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:20-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

All glory and worship belongs to Jesus, no man on earth or idols deserve or are to be praised. We need to be very careful not to make the same mistake Herod did to accept worship for the things we do to serve in God’s kingdom. Never take a praise that belongs to God and Him alone.

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  8. Thank you Jesus for today , thy kingdom come thy will be done . Angel’s exist

Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. Then the angel told him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” And he did. “Now put on your coat and follow me,” the angel ordered. Peter finally came to his senses. “It’s really true!” he said. “The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me!”
Acts of the Apostles 12:7‭-‬8‭, ‬11

  9. Now I know

    Acts 12:7-11
“And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.”
    ‭‭
Peter was woke up by the angel. His chains fall off. He’s led by the angel through the entire prison and out the gate. BUT he doesn’t realize that he’s been visited by the angel till the angel is gone.

When we are among angels let me entertain them and be aware of their presence. I don’t want to be sleeping when I am visited. I want to be aware of the spirit around me whether it be angelic or demonic. I don’t want to waste the opportunity when and angel visits me. I don’t want to miss it when Jesus visits me. Lord let us be in tune with your spirit and your presence.

  10. [Acts 12:7-8 [ amp] And suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared [ standing beside him] , and a light shone on the place where he was. And the angel gently smite Peter on the side and awakened him, saying, Get up quickly! And chains fell off his hands.
[ 8] And the angel said to him, Tighten your belt and bind on your sandals, And he did so. And he said to him, Wrap your outer garment around you and follow me.
This chapter that Peter had been locked up in prison and Peter had been sleeping. But he knew that God had his back , through it all.
I can only imagine how Peter felt!
My God is always on time! My God give you a vision
and a purpose to accomplish. A hope, A dream,
A vision. My God sends Angel’s to rescue you !
God hears your prayers, And he will answer them in
his time. Just call on the name of Jesus!
    Live Jesus , Give Jesus.

  11. Acts 12:21-25 KJV
“ And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.”

    Psalms 23:5 KJV
“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”

When the devil comes after us, if would just keep our eyes upon Jesus, no enemy shall overtake us.

  12. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

  13. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

  14. In Acts Chapter 12 verse 7 it’s telling me is that Jesus had Shined on Peter and Raised him up so his chains fell out of his hands then in Verse 8 it’s telling me is that the Angel had binded him so he has casted his garment then in Verse 9 it’s telling me is that the Angel went out and thought he saw a vision then in verse 10 it’s saying is that when they came to the iron gate for the first time the gate was opened to his own accord and from one street to the next then in verse 11 it’s telling me is that Peter sent his angel out of the hand of Herod then to all the expectation of the jews

  15. How could one not want to experience this God we serve? He is so good and wonderful to his people. I love this story in the bible how chains were released and locked gates opened all under guards who would hear the slightest sounds. How great is our God!!

  16. Act 12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
Act 12:8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
Act 12:9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
Act 12:10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.
Act 12:11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

I noticed here that Peter was the one that had to make the first move – when he arose, his chains fell off. Then he had to gird himself, put on his shoes, cast a garment about himself, and follow the angel of the Lord. When he did what he could do, then the doors automatically opened and he was delivered from the prison and made his way to the house where they were interceding for him.

I wonder how many times an angel is sent to us to lead us out of our mess, but we have in our mind that God is going to do all the work, therefore, we don’t make any moves, we just sit and wait. God maybe waiting on us to act in faith that the chains are going to fall off. He may be waiting for us to stand up in our mess and begin to praise Him.

If we will take the first step, put us action with our faith, I believe that not only will be delivered out of our mess, when the prison doors will open and others will be set free as well.

  17. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    16 – 1 IS NOT ENOUGH

ONE angel of the LORD is greater than 16 men of this world. There were 4 quaternions of soldiers or 4×4=16 soldiers and 2 chains keeping guard on Peter the apostle. Things looked hopeless and grave, the situation was definitely stacked against Peter.

    BUT

1 Praying Church caused 1 GOD sent ANGEL revealing the power of the church in Prayer. When we cannot do anything in the natural, we must always appeal to the supernatural power of GOD. We witnessed with Paul and Silas that the Prayer and Praise of two prisoners, caused the earth to shake at the power of the Name of JESUS. Now we see an ANGEL respond to the prayers of the church.

Prayer being the key ingredient to both deliverances. Let us take note of the Power of Prayer. Pray until something shakes or breaks, pray until you see the light or the answer.

16 Human Soldiers IS NOT ENOUGH to stop the 1 GOD when HIS people pray. Consider someone who is bound today and ignore the chains and obstacles that have them bound and PRAY in FAITH – BELIEVING GOD for their deliverance.

Act 12:16  But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished

    Just keep knocking.

When people doubt, just keep knocking. As I’m listening to these scriptures this morning, I’m listening to a dramatized audio version. I hear Paul knocking on the door but no ones answering. This doesn’t stop his persistence though, he continues to knock on the door till someone answers. This is how we must be, we must not give up but knock till the door of unbelief turns into belief

  19. “So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died.”

All glory belongs to The Lord & Him alone.

  20. 12: 5 Peter where fore was kept in prison
But prayer was made without ceased unto of the church
    Unto God for him.
    ——
The believers ( the church) Praying, interceding for a soul. (Peter) In the midst….
God answers prayer, God hears the prayers of His people.
God intervenes, God is always on time.
God is faithful. Slow to anger, great in mercy.
    … but the church.
It does not matter what’s going on in the world, The church should always be found praying. Ready.

  21. Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally opened the door and saw him, they were amazed.
Acts of the Apostles 12:16 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.12.16.NLT

What sticks out to me today is Peter kept knocking. He didn’t stop and walk away. He didn’t give up when the door was closed. He had just witnessed a miracle and angelic presence! How could he just dumb that down? He kept knocking!! He had to testify! He had to witness! He had something inside of him to share and to speak on. We have this same hope! How many of us have been broken out of bondage and set free? How many of us have been given hope and a future? How many of us now have an answer for what our souls have been yearning for for years? We have to keep knocking!! People are so quick to dismiss what they don’t understand!! JUST KEEP KNOCKING!!

  22. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

Wow the power of prayer!!!!! There is nothing too big or nothing too small for our God. When you think of the fact that Peter was between soldiers and chained to them but the angel of the Lord walked right into the jail and loose Peter and escorted him out. Now, we also need to see the obedience and submission of Peter. Because he thought it was a dream but none the less Peter was obedient to what the angel of the Lord told him to do. There is a great blessing in submission and obedience. The majority of people see those words as the worse thing on the world but I know for a fact that it frees you and keeps you under the protection of God. Hallelujah Thank you Jesus!!!

  23. 6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

As we might find our selves in problems in the middle of a storm we should know that Gods hand and protection is still over us. And as Peter was bound with shackles and guards on his sides he knew and didn’t lose his faith. And the vision God have him was such a way that God showed him what he would do for him.
Peter was so sure that God would get him out. That’s is how I want to be that even though I’m facing a trial that I know that my life is in Gods hands and that he will take me out he will send his angels to fight for me.

  24. “Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared [beside him] and a light shone in the cell. The angel struck Peter’s side and awakened him, saying, “Get up quickly!” And the chains fell off his hands. The angel said to him, “Prepare yourself and strap on your sandals [to get ready for whatever may happen].” And he did so. Then the angel told him, “Put on your robe and follow me.” And Peter went out following the angel. He did not realize that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.

When Peter came to his senses, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel and has rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting [to do to me].””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:7-9, 11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Peter was obedient to the voice of the lord. He may have not known what he was hearing at the moment but we see he was obedient and was made free. God is always there and is sometimes just waiting on us to just be obedient and act on what is being asked of us. Peter did not question what he was being asked to do he just did it. Like Nike says JUST DO IT! We need to be like this as Christians and just do it. We hold ourselves back because we allow fear to step in the way. I pray that we are able to be like Paul and even in our darkest of times we will not allow fear to step in the way. Be strong & courageous!!

“Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].’”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  25. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

Some people make themselves an easy prey to Satan, they are use by him, on doing the works of Satan, just to make it their business to please men. Unfortunately, we will see this even in church, people trying to please men. That’s why we need to pray for deliverance from the enemy. We need to pray and also, forgive those that do harm to us. I pray that God, that He will protect us from the enemies hand.

  26. Acts 12:13-14 & 16
    13) And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
    14) And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

    16) But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

Peter knocked at the door of the gate
    Rhoda knew Peter’s voice
    Rhoda opened not the gate
    Peter continued knocking
    They had opened the door

This reminded me of Jesus. How many times has Jesus knocked at our door, we recognize His voice, but don’t let him in???
    BUT
Thank You JESUS, You Keep Knocking until we open the door and let You in.

Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

When JESUS comes knocking at your door, and you know His voice, let Him in!!!

  27. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

There is so many things to comment on in this chapter, but I think the key for Peter was the church praying and interceding on his behalf. They had just lost a brother in Christ and knew what Herod’s plans must be for Peter too, so they went to prayer. ‘Worship is the way the battle is won’ as the song says and we serve a God who is well able to save, protect and deliver!

  28. “The assembled people kept shouting, “It is the voice of a god and not of a man!” And at once an angel of the Lord struck him down because he did not give God the glory [and instead permitted himself to be worshiped], and he was eaten by worms and died [five days later].”
    ‭‭ACTS‬ ‭12:22-23‬ ‭AMP‬‬

All glory and honor belongs to God our Lord Jesus Christ. Herod received the glory and didn’t give it to God. This sounds familiar like in Ezekiel 28:2

““Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Because your heart is lifted up And you have said and thought, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods In the heart of the seas’; Yet you are [only] a man [weak, feeble, made of earth] and not God, Though you [imagine yourself to be more than mortal and] think your mind is as [wise as] the mind of God–”
    ‭‭EZEKIEL‬ ‭28:2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This is not the last time this will happen. The antichrist will rise up and do the same thing but we need to watch and pray that we are not deceived.

“Let no one in any way deceive or entrap you, for that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first [that is, the great rebellion, the abandonment of the faith by professed Christians], and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction [the Antichrist, the one who is destined to be destroyed], who opposes and exalts himself [so proudly and so insolently] above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he [actually enters and] takes his seat in the temple of God, publicly proclaiming that he himself is God.”
    ‭‭2 THESSALONIANS‬ ‭2:3-4‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  29. Acts 12
About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church. 2 He killed James the brother of John with the sword, 3 and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also.

Persecution of the disciples had began . The church began to pray . I wondered what Peter was truly thinking when he had just witnessed the loss of his friend a follow disciple ? Now Peter is sitting in prison. I have to believe that Peter knew assuredly within his heart what ever was getting ready to happen he was able to stay strong in his faith. Was he reliving his life in his mind ? Did he ponder the time he had denied Christ? Was he bargaining with God? We don’t know really know. But I like to think that he was covering his mind with the promises of God . So much that he had no ideal that he was literally being walked out of prison by two angels. My mind goes to a message my husband preached mercy and grace .
Peter was being set free to finish the work of God. There are some who have been persecuted recently for continuous reaching , preaching and teaching the gospel of Christ . One pastor actually put in house arrest . Did he quit no … he continued on house arrest. Peter had just witnessed his friend’s head cut off he could have went and his after the angels freed him. But no no he is out again first going to the believers who are praying for him to let them know he’s ok . They didn’t even believe their own prayers zests making a difference. Doubt fear can cause you to think of our prayers are not being answered . Questions like why arise in the midst of adversity. Prayers must continue. Why’s May never be answered. Prayers have still got to go up. The church could not allow the death of James to Jeep them from praying. We cannot allow anything to keep us from praying . Speak out with spiritual authority! The enemy is going to be defeated . Yes there will be fatalities but don’t let it be your spiritual death. Peter was released .
Now to those who have given up or have given in to the tactics of the enemy . It’s time to cover your mind with the word . I go back to the fact Peter was in prison yet as he was literally being set free he did not realize it was real. You may think you cannot be set free. Your past failures have made you full of shame and you wonder how you got in this prison . Oh but there are two angels right beside you mercy and grace walking you right out the prison . You’ve not done anything to be in this prison . You were living and living Jesus . But you possibly send a wounded fellow disciple or the enemy took the life of someone you loved . Rest assured God is still in control . Allow His love and the prayers that are going up to set you free return tell us what God has done. The time is now two angels are waiting to walk you right out and back into the work of God. It’s true awaken yourself the church is waiting to hear your testimony.
    Live Jesus Give Jesus !
Surely Goodness and Mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever .
    Amen

  30. “The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate. So Peter left the cell, following the angel. But all the time he thought it was a vision. He didn’t realize it was actually happening. They passed the first and second guard posts and came to the iron gate leading to the city, and this opened for them all by itself. So they passed through and started walking down the street, and then the angel suddenly left him. Peter finally came to his senses. “It’s really true!” he said. “The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me!””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:6-11 NLT
Many of us worry about the iron gate before we ever get to it. A month beforehand, and we are anxious about the iron gate! But God will take care of it when we come to it. For Peter, it opened of its own accord.

  31. “And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The spirit of pride will always lead to death spiritually and physically. King Herod took pride in having favor amongst the Jews. And when the angel of the Lord took Peter out of Herod’s hands, instead of acknowledging that God was mightier than he, he took pride in the people calling him a god, giving the One True living God no glory.

Today’s focus scripture says God resisteth the proud but giveth grace to the humble. I thank God for His grace, therefore I thank God for the spirit of humility. I pray we walk in His grace, humbling and submitting oursves to the One True King, Jesus!

  32. God is working even when we are not looking. Paul was let out of prison by an Angel that appeared to him. Miracles are happening even now as we speak. God is an on time
God he can turn around your situation.

  33. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And the CHURCH PRAYED without ceasing.

Does the body of Christ still hold this valuable desire to pray for their brother or sister when things aren’t going well?

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

    Pray without ceasing.”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:11, 17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We need one another to build up when we’re down, to encourage when we’ve lost our focus, to rejoice with when we’re on track, and most importantly to PRAY for one another!

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  34. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

Whenever it is time for us to get up and go god will always send confirmation and sometimes he’ll even send someone to point us where we need to go, in this case god sent an angel to peter. We should always be focused on praying that the lord will lead us and send us where he wants us.

  35. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

Thank you lord for praying Brothers and sisters and thank you Lord for sending angels to rescue us.

  36. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

He was prayed for that’s what prayer can do

  37. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Prayer changes things. The church prayed for Paul while he was in prison. It’s a prayer force assembling in the spiritual realm. It was not Gods purpose for Paul to give up and rot in prison. This isn’t Paul’s first jail break either. Praise and prayer are powerful tools to get Gods attention. He already knows what we have need of but when a baby starts crying the parent wakes up. We are his children and he will hear us when we cry out to him. The miraculous happens with such faith.

  38. “He had the apostle James (John’s brother) killed with a sword.”(Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Violence is a weapon that the enemy uses for we know that violence is of this world and Gods word says (John‬ ‭18:36‬ ‭NLT‬‬) “Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.””

  39. Not for my glory. But for his glory. Be careful of the words you give out. Especially those that are preachers and teachers. That wisdom is not Yours. But Gods. M
All your studying and preparation is not for your GLORY. but for his.
“The people gave him a great ovation, shouting, “It’s the voice of a god, not of a man!” Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:22-23‬ ‭

  40. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
Pray without ceasing. The Lord will always be with you, save you and bring you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

  41. 1. Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. 2. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3. And because he saw it .pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. ( They were the days of unleavened bread.). 4. And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quarternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. 5. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

  42. 6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

    Hallelujah

  43. Acts 12
King Herod arrested James, the brother of John and was put to death. This met with Jews approval, so then Peter was arrested. As Peter was kept in prison, the church kept praying to God for him. An angel of the Lord appeard as Peter slept between 2 soldiers. The angel had rescued him from Herod’s clutches. Peter went to Marys house, the mother of John, and surprised them all.

King Herod sat on his throne and proclaimed he was god. An angel of the Lord struck him down and he was eaten by worms and died.

It was remarkable how the angel helped Peter. Also, do NOT go against our Lord and savior. The wrath of God is something that a person never wants! Herod was struck down as he said he was god!

  44. Obviously if you keep the glory for yourself instead of giving it to God then you don’t fear the Lord.

What are some of the reasons we wouldn’t give God the glory for an outcome That you desired, that you won.
Example, if I Prayed for $1 million and didn’t wait for God to bless me and I robbed a bank and got that million, that would be an example why I wouldn’t give God the glory because I robbed a bank I didn’t wait for God to bless me with that check.

Or pride, pride is a snake 🐍 never could I have had the courage or strength to get through today without the grace/mercy and love of God covering me. I need Jesus

How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

The whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

How many times have we left someone in prison longer than their sentence because I was too busy to pray for them… Psalm 86:11 Teach me thy way, O Lord ; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

When the church went to God through prayer for Peter.

Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Acts 12:23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

  45. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

Something happens something shifts when a church vegans to pray. When a church begins to pray expect breakthrough when a church begins to pray expect chains to fall off watch God come through when the church prays!

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

  46. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed that, instead of opening the door, she ran back inside and told everyone, “Peter is standing at the door!”

When one sees a miracle, he can’t wait to tell someone. Tell others about miracles you have seen or heard. Use it as a testimony for others to believe. Many believe miracles only occurred during the bible times of thousands of years ago, but miracles are still happening. Share your miracles, rejoice, and thank God for it.

  47. v24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

Sounds like a mighty revival….many were healed, delivered and saved.

  48. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

When God sends and Angel in your life you better gird up! God has a plan for all of our lives and we need to embrace what he has for us!

  49. 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

To God be the glory. We must remember that we are all vessels, instruments of God. Some for honor and some for dishonor. There will be great things that the Lord will do through us, that is in the Word of God. Jesus said that we shall do greater things, miracles, signs, wonders… yet all by the power working within us, the Spirit of God. We must remember that all glory and honor goes to Him. He may use you so give him the glory and then be thankful. I heard it taught ok a leadership lesson which I believe were the words of reverend Billy Cole; the reward of sacrifice is that you get the opportunity to do it again.

Dont worry about the praise of man, God will make sure you are taken care off serve gladly for an audience of One. He will never let you down.

  50. And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

  51. “The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate.

At dawn there was a great commotion among the soldiers about what had happened to Peter.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:6, 18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

At night and at dawn; God is an on time God!
He moves in the morning and in the evening, but it’s always RIGHT on TIME!

  52. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

Break every chain, break every chain. And his chains fell off.

  53. 14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

Why wouldn’t you open the door? When opportunity comes knocking and it seems imposible. Jesus presents opportunities things you couldn’t imagine to be true and only by faith alone will you be able to open the door and let it in. Today’s word is grace its by this we are able to wake up day to day. Its only by his grace that we are able to carry out his plans.

  54. Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church . . . Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, ‘Arise quickly!’ And his chains fell off his hands. Acts 12:5,7

Sincere, honest prayer has so much power, it demonstrates that our hearts care passionately about the things that our Father cares about. This is a fulfilling of Jesus’ promise….“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7).

  55. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Bad day? Give God the glory. Good day? Give God the glory. No matter what we go through giving God the glory will have the best benefits, there’s blessings for those who worship Him even in the darkest moments!

  56. Then he imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring Peter out for public trial after the Passover. But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.
    Acts 12:4‭-‬NLT

If the church would realize how powerful it is when it gets together and prays. Together we can help our man of God out of traps that the enemy tries to set and delivers him out of the hand of his enemies.

  57. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

Always trust in God to guide you on your way. Even when Peter wasn’t sure, he continued to obey and listen to God. The members in the house saw no way out for Peter yet kept praying. God will answer on his timing and we must be ready to receive and share of his greatness to others.

  58. “And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Thank you Jesus for sending your angel to deliver us out of the dead end. You are my Provider, my Healer, my Protector, and my Deliverance, for in time of trouble He shall hide us in His pavilion. I will sing praises unto the Lord and I will rejoice for He has crushed the enemy and delivered us. You are great and marvelous Jesus.

  59. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Peter was not positive about it the whole time but he never stopped obeying and listening to the Lord. Peter prayed to the Lord to help him, and the Lord did. We should never stop trusting in the Lord, for the Lord is someone who doesn’t break promises or ever leave you alone. The Lord is with us every step of the way and is helping us through everything. I pray that we all pray to the Lord everyday and spread and speak his word everyday.

  60. 1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

People will try to please other by scary and threatening the church
We should stand strong with the Lord.

  61. And those were the days of the unleavened bread

Peter was in jail for the Passover feast. Some of the events are similar from Peter and Moses. Peter and Moses (The Israelites) were both I’m prisonEd by their governing authority. They both had to be ready at a moments notice. Both had an angel help them, though one killed and the other didn’t. Both had God’s hand to get them out, one through a locked gate while the other went through the Red Sea.

God allowed both of these leaders experienced great things. One seemed to know a little more about who was helping him at the time of the help than the other, but both were mighty moves of the Lord.

When God says go you can’t wait for your bread to rise or for your shoes to be fastened, you just have to be ready and GO!

  62. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Peter “came to himself” there are moments in life that we have to figure out. When we do we realize Gods been with us from the beginning. We may not have recognized him but he’s been Their. Let us miss less moments in life that god is visited us and we miss it.

  63. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Jesus makes a way of escape for every situation we’re in. Nothing is impossible for Him. He will guide us out of our storms and trials, so let’s keep laying our trust in Him. If He delivered Peter, God can deliver me too!

  64. 15 “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.”

The power of prayer and unity!!! There is power when the church unites for a specific cause. It’s not only to enlarge our faith but for others to hear the testimony and know that there is a God that can move mountains. We might not always see those chains falling physically but we can sure see them falling spiritually. There are many chains that God has broken in my life and for that I’m grateful. I’m blessed to be able to have the one and only one Jesus Christ in me!!! Thank you Lord!!!!

  65. “The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Peter found himself in white the predicament as he waited for his trial among the people and more than likely death, just like James. But those of the church did not give up hope, they continued to pray for Peter’s release. Peter, found himself surrounded by four guards, there seemed to be no way out however, he was also sleeping when the angel appeared to him so maybe he wasn’t looking for a solution. Many of us have caught ourselves stuck between a rock and a hard place, because frankly, life happens. Situations arise and we seek no solution because it is what it is, or so we seem to think so. But just remember what peter woke up to, “Quick, get up,” which is just what he did. Yes, life will bring you down but be ready to step out of your situation at a moments notice, because God will make a way in the middle of your night!

  66. 14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

How will you react when your miracle comes? If we truly believe when we pray, there should be no doubt when it comes to pass!

  67. Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
He prayed for a certain church

  68. 14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

I’ve been guilty of this myself, where I get so excited about God answering my prayers that I caught more on the miracle than the Miracle Worker!

The miracle most of the time is waiting on us to receive it. We pray with faith but without expectation. We believe God hears us and we ask with faith, but act surprised when he answers.

We need to have a certain level of expectation when we pray and ask God.

  69. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Peter had his “Ah-Ha!” Moment. We have all had these Ah-Ha! Moments to know and realize who God is! “. . . Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel.” What moment changes for you?

  70. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

All Glory is to God and no one other! God is a jealous God. People need to know that God is the one who gives us the word, God is the one who does the miracles. We are His vessels that through us God those all this wonders, for the world to see and believe. Let us not be smite and consumed by worms to please men.
