Acts 6

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

  1. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

    Why agenst god

  2. 9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

This is something that took me a bit to understand. I remember that I will get hired and usually right after lunch (prayer) they will always be rumors about me. They will make it very obvious. Back then I didn’t know what I know now. Eventually, they will end up firing me for dumb reasons. It was then that I realize that the Holy Ghost in us reflect in what we do and how we do it and people are convicted by the Holy Ghost and don’t want us around. I also noticed how they adapt themselves to your standards as long as I was around and I would step away and they will go back to how they were. There are always those that would make up rumors of what religion I was, so bad once they said I was Almish nothing wrong with them but all I can say is they were a bit off. So when this things begin to happened know that there is nothing wrong with you they’re just feeling the conviction of the Holy Ghost that lives in you .

  3. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Thanks GoD for the leader we have serving at our church

  5. Verses 8-10 MSG “Stephen, brimming with God’s grace and energy, was doing wonderful things among the people, unmistakable signs that God was among them. But then some men from the meeting place whose membership was made up of freed slaves, Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and some others from Cilicia and Asia, went up against him trying to argue him down. But they were no match for his wisdom and spirit when he spoke.” This reminds me of the word for the day “Meekness”. Meekness is not weakness; but, it is strength under-control. Stephen had a right spirit within him and wasn’t bragging, wasn’t boasting; but, just took this opportunity where he had been chosen and commissioned to do a work in the kingdom.

Colossians 3:12 AMP “So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper];”. Same verse KJV “Colossians 3:12 “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;”. So let us remember we are his chosen and set apart for His purpose as we LIVE-GIVE JESUS with meekness!

  6. 7. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

    8. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

When we allow the Word of God to increase in our lives, the number of disciples multiplies, and we begin to see wonders and miracles done among us.

  7. “And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When people are added to the church, not everyone is happy for you. In this case people were upset about widows. In other cases it might be buildings, bus routes, hospitality team, children’s ministry, care for the elders, music, or anything else that a person can choose. We have to be wise and listen to solve the problem, but also know that this isn’t something that is new. The church in the Bible faced the same issues. We need to solve it by using people filled with the Holy Ghost, of honest report, that are wise to minister.

  8. Acts 6: 6-7 [ amp] These they presented to the apostles, who after prayer laid their hands on them.
[7] After the message of God kept on spreading, and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem; and [ besides] a large number of the priests were obedience to the faith [ in Jesus as the Messiah through Whom is obtained eternal salvation in the kingdom of God.
[ 1 Timothy 4:14 ] Do not neglect the gift which is in you, [ that special inward endownment] which was directly imparted to you [ by the Holy Spirit]
By prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands upon you [ by the Holy Spirit] by prophetic
utterance when the elders laid their hands upon you [ at your ordination].
    Live Jesus give Jesus.

  9. Acts 6
15 As all those who sat on the High Council looked at Stephen, they found they couldn’t take their eyes off him—his face was like the face of an angel!

    Reflecting the Glory Of God.
    ◄ 2 Corinthians 3:18 ►
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

I believe that Stephen had the peace of God and it was strength that God was giving him. Reflecting God even in the midst of the opposition. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. His Dpirit dwells within us. Help us Lord to allow your Spirit to be reflected to others . Help us to have the glow of the Holy Ghost .

  10. “Some men agreed to tell lies about Stephen, and they said, “This man keeps on saying terrible things about this holy temple and the Law of Moses.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:13‬ ‭CEV‬‬

For the past couple of months there is a certain person that has spoken against me. One of the hardest things for me is to pray for them and continue to forgive them. It is important that I stay focused and not to give in and get trapped in the web of the enemy. GOD is the potter and I am the clay, HE is molding me into the Christian I need to be. Not who I think I should be.

    I will sing a HALLELUJAH!!!!

GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN me….

GOD WILL MAKE my enemy HIS FOOTSTOOL

NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST me SHALL PROSPER

I PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD, THAT I MAY STAND AGAINST the wiles of the enemy.

    Not today satan!!!!!

  11. ‭Acts‬ ‭6:11
“Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.”

They were speaking about the old way of having church tradition. When you speak again tradition you gonna pick up a fight.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  12. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

It takes a lot of wisdom to know where is the best place for us to serve. We may be so excited to want to serve everywhere as the needs and opportunities of the church grow, but where is the most useful? The original disciples had grown so deeply in the word that that was their ministry. They needed to focus their time there.
I believe God is stirring hearts and raising more people to serve in bigger capacities so that this city can be reached fully. In Jesus Name

  13. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
Most folks out there think that Meekness is Weakness but there is nothing further that the truth. True meekness is Power under control. This is evident in our blog today. Stephen was full of the Holy Ghost. This Holy Ghost is the dynamite of God’s ability and power. But Stephen does not call down fire from heaven and destroy these religious persecutors, but the spirit of meekness comes over him and he simply preaches the Word of God in humility and meekness. We can learn a lot from Stephen here.

  14. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

“We will give ourselves…” Not forced, not taken, not pressed, not nagged, but willfully given. If we love Jesus and His Word, if we want to please Him and follow Him, then it should be easy to do these things!

  15. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

God appoints certain people who are full of His word, the Holy Ghost, wisdom and willingly give their all to God; to become leaders to us. To lead us and help us in our walk with God, to teach and preach to those who are lost. God will use them to do wonders, signs and miracles. As members we too must be continually in prayer for our leaders, the lost and for our growth/relationship with God. For we too are sent out to reach this lost nation.

  16. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Wow, there’s so much that is being said right here. Looking at how the word of God increases that the number of disciples does as well and not just steadily but greatly. Also taking note that the priests were obedient to the faith as they increased the word of God. Increase begets increase. Line upon line and precept upon precept. After the likeness of God, when the priest obeyed in faith, God increases; when the word of God increases so do his people. It doesn’t say more souls got the holy ghost and just left unaccounted for but rather, it said “disciples increased” people continued to follow Christ as his word increased

  17. 6:15 and all that sat in the council, looking stead fasting at him, saw his face as it had beef the face of an angel.
    —_
Let us stand up for righteousness
Let us speak the truth of God
Let us be full of the Holy Ghost…
👉 Wow!!!! Face of an angel.
And the anointing will be noticed 🙌😃🙏🔥🔥.
Lord , That I may always be
A clean vessel God can use.🙏

  18. I love this definition of meekness. I love my church. In the wold today half the people are wrapped up in their own selves and drama and worldly living that until a tradegy comes they never lift their head up much less think of switching to living for God. We just keep trying and keep praying for them and letting them see by example how much better living for God is. This is our job and we owe this to Jesus.

  19. 9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

Just like the accusations that rose against Stephen in the book of Acts, it will begin to rise up in our day. The Bible states that there will arise false prophets and false doctrine in the last day. There will be a great falling away from the truth. Men are going to be lovers of themselves instead of lovers of God. We as the church of the living God will have to make a stand against the false theology or we will fall into the snares of the enemy. We have to remain bold and like Stephen our faith has to be solid. Regardless of the world receiving the gospel or not, we have to maintain the confidence that God has everything in control and we will be able to endure to the end.

The greatest aspect of this chapter is that Stephen was falsely accused and was going to be stoned to death, but he kept his faith and he even forgave them for their actions and he was going to receive his reward in the glory of God. We have to be reassured that we will make it if only we hold fast to our faith and know that our reward is much greater than our pain and strife.

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

I recall growing up for years we would play pick up football and baseball for years. It was called pick up, because we were picked or chosen by a team captain. Typically the 2 best players in the group would be chosen to be Team Captain and the Captains would take turns choosing players for their team.

I was typically CHOSEN either 2 or 3 in the group. From this process I learned the value of availablity, performance and even personality. If I was there and on time, I had a good chance to be CHOSEN early, because those that came late were placed on the team that was weakest. If I would practice and perfect my skills, I had a good chance to be chosen early because of the value that I added to the team. If I had a good and positive attitude, I had a good chance to be CHOSEN early to be a good teammate and whine and complain about where I was placed on the field. We did all of this without an adult present, no coaches, no umpires, we just were CHOSEN for a team and played.

    The scripture comes to mind:

Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

    Called – INVITED
    Chosen – FAVORITE

When we study Acts 6 we witness this verse come to pass and because of my younger life action I understand the passage clearly. There were many disciples called by GOD to HIS Kingdom. From Acts 2 and 4 we learn that there were at least 8,000 called to choose from. But 7 were chosen from several thousand called.

This is why we should count it a High Honor to be chosen to do anything in The Kingdom of GOD. Currently there are almost 7.8 Billion people on earth and JESUS called me, from the called he CHOSE me out of several million to Lead The POFW. I pray GOD give us revelation in this privilege to serve in HIS Kingdom.

CHOSEN means we are SELECTED before or even instead of others. CHOSEN comes with high responsibility. Let us be prayerful to remain connected JESUS and be FULL of FAITH and the HOLY GHOST as Stephen was.

  21. Thank you Jesus for today yesss meekness I like it

My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
    Psalms 62:5‭-‬8

  22. Acts 6:8-15
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us. And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

It must have been hard for Stephen to hearing the people accusing him of these he didn’t do. As a child, I couldn’t stand to be accused of something I didn’t do. But what caused me to receive many whoopings was that I wouldn’t shut up and let it go. Sometimes in our walk of life we will be accused of wrong doings that we are not guilty of and that is when true meekness of spirit needs to be shown in our lives.

  23. “So the Twelve gathered all the believers together. They said, “It wouldn’t be right for us to give up teaching God’s word in order to wait on tables. Brothers, choose seven of your men. They must be known as men who are wise and full of the Holy Spirit. We will turn this important work over to them. Then we can give our attention to prayer and to teaching the word.””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:2-4‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

This scripture is a great example of leadership and Word of Wisdom. If we need wisdom we can go to God and He’ll give us wisdom.

“If any of you need wisdom, ask God for it. He will give it to you. God gives freely to everyone. He doesn’t find fault.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

  24. Act 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
Act 6:6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
Act 6:7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

The Word of God increased and the number of disciples multiplied because there were additional laborers added to the team. Laborers that knew what their responsibility was and followed through with it. If the entire team is focused and working towards the same goal, the job can be accomplished, not only faster, but more effectively and efficiently.

We must evaluate to see if we are pulling together with the team? Do we have the same vision as the team leader? Are we working for or against? If we are not experiencing the results of moving forward, we must take some time to search our heart and see.

Team work makes the Dream work. Let’s all get on the same page, be about the same vision and same purpose and Impact this region for Jesus Christ. Time is short, hell is hot and there are so many people that need to know about JESUS!

  25. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Why is it that when the word of God increase so does the number of disciples?

When the Word of God increases in our lives so does our knowledge and faith! When we grow in those areas we are able to better witness to those around us.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  26. ‘None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke.’
    Acts of the Apostles 6:10

I’m reminded of a Sunday School trivia question that would always be asked to trick you; “Who is the opposite of Jesus?” to which some would answer the devil. However, this would be the wrong answer, as there is no one equally opposite to Jesus.

Same is stated in this verse, nothing can stand against the Spirit of Jesus!

He has no rival, you have no equal, He will Reign Now and FOREVER!

  27. “Now Stephen, full of grace (divine blessing, favor) and power, was doing great wonders and signs (attesting miracles) among the people. However, some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (freed Jewish slaves), both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and [the province of] Asia, rose up and questioned and argued with Stephen. But they were not able to successfully withstand and cope with the wisdom and the intelligence [and the power and inspiration] of the Spirit by whom he was speaking.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:8-10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

When you are doing the right thing for God there will always be someone/ something that will try and come against you. We must stay strong in our faith and not bend. Let’s not loose hope but continue to stand strong and do the work God has called us to do.

  28. 9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

Verse 10- they were not able to resist (or defeat or cast down) the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. When we try to fight against God himself, we lose. Stephen gained heaven while these men resorted to lying and slander. They certainly didn’t win. Gamaliel spoke this in Acts 5:39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. But Stephen stayed on his course and won the fight for his eternal salvation. Lime said before, we can learn a lot from him.

  29. Acts 6

1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

  30. So in Acts Chapter 6 we are talking about meekness and in verses 1-7 it’s telling me how the disciples were in multiply against the Hebrews and were neglected in the ministration then the twelve of the disciples said there is no reason we should leave the word of god then Brethen said we should look out for the seven honest men that were full of the Holy Ghost and had wisdom Over a business then we should always pray to the ministry of the word then Stephen said please the whole multitude and chose faith and the Holy Ghost then they were set before the apostles to be prayed upon and the apostles layed hands on them then the disciples were multiplied and the word of god was increased then the company of Jerusalem was increased by the word of god then the priests were obedient to the faith

  31. Acts 6:2-7
    2) Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
    3) Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom ye may appoint over this business.
    4) But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
    5) And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, and man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
    6) Who they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
    7) And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

    “We’re All In This Together”
With the coronavirus pandemic, there’s a saying going around, “We’re All In This Together.”
This phrase made me think about these scriptures. Pastor and the ministers are given to Prayer and to the ministry of the word, while others of us “serve tables.” We serve in other areas of the church, from singing, to meeting and greeting, to outreach, to teaching, to driving a bus or van, to mowing a lawn, to cleaning the church, etc…
    BUT
We must remember one thing, “We’re All In This Together!” So that the Word of God increases, so that disciples will be multiplied, and so that a great company of people will be obedient to the faith.

There’s an old Sunday School song that says…
When we all work together, together, together
When we all work together, how happy we’ll be
For your work is my work
And our work is the Lord’s work
When we all work together how happy we’ll be
“We’re All In This Together” for the Kingdom of God to GrOw!

  32. 15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
I learned that god is with you every where you go

  33. In this chapter when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”

  34. 8And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Doing wonders and miracles is directly associated with faith and power. If we can have great faith, that will give us great power which in turn will allow us, through God, to be the conduit for miracles. God wants his people to have faith and be used by him. We can only do that if we’re focused on the work of the ministry. Remember we should always be looking unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.

  35. “But they were not able to successfully withstand and cope with the wisdom and the intelligence [and the power and inspiration] of the Spirit by whom he was speaking. Then [to attack him another way] they secretly instructed men to say, “We have heard this man [Stephen] speak blasphemous (slanderous, sacrilegious, abusive) words against Moses and against God.””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:10-11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Stephen was full of faith and the Holy Ghost. He was a willing vessel and God used him to spread His Word which as we see, was rejected by this certain sect of Jews. Basically, the Jesus in Stephen revealed the pride of others. These Jews found they weren’t a match for the wisdom of God and as a result they lost their integrity and lied on the man of God.

When we’re full of faith and the Holy Ghost, our message stays the same because we are being guided by His wisdom. This example shows the contrast in leaning on our own understanding versus leaning on God’s understanding. The Jews from the synagogue of the Libertines tried argue with Stephen and got frustrated when they couldn’t even argue with him. On the other hand, the Bible says Stephen behavior was that he spoke with wisdom and Spirit – which aligns with why he was selected to go into leadership in the first place. Stephen didn’t worry or change himself over the actions of others.

I thank God for being our the root of our confidence and assurance. I pray we take on the fruit of the spirit meekness, humbling ourselves to ahis will and allowing Him to go before us.

  36. I learned that Stephen was preaching about God but the people didn’t like it. When they looked at him, he had the face of an angel.

  37. ““So he left the country of the Chaldees and moved to Haran. After the death of his father, he immigrated to this country where you now live, but God gave him nothing, not so much as a foothold. He did promise to give the country to him and his son later on, even though Abraham had no son at the time. God let him know that his offspring would move to an alien country where they would be enslaved and brutalized for four hundred years. ‘But,’ God said, ‘I will step in and take care of those slaveholders and bring my people out so they can worship me in this place.’”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭7:4-7‬ ‭MSG‬‬
Satan’s strategy failed. He tried to divide the church, and it did not work. But Satan’s second strategy also failed. The apostles were not distracted from the focus of ministry God had for them – to focus on the word of God and on prayer.

  38. But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.”
Acts of the Apostles 6:1‭-‬4 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.6.1-4.NLT

Seven man who were fruitful and many more!!

  39. 11 Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, “We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”

Ministry is not something that is easy. It’s something that you have to focus on why your doing what you’re doing. You’re why has to be greater than your duty. People will talk bad, enemies will rise, the enemy will want to destroy you but your going to have to face it and put your focus on what matters. Your focus has to be in Jesus!!! Your focus has to be on your purpose, the purpose on why God called you, the purpose of why God created you. Don’t loose sight and keep your mind on JESUS!!!!

  40. Acts 6:8 And Stepehen full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
6:15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

Often if something is “different” than what you do, you may question it. For Stephen they down right lied about what he said and did. Some synagogues spoke against Stephen and said he was blashemous against God and Moses. When he sat in council many saw his face as of an angel! We shouldn’t jump at our first instinct as many did with Stephen. He was a very fatihful man of God and full of the Holy Spirit. I thank God for the wisdom he gives to our Pastor and our other ministers.

  41. “But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭6:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

To this point in the Book of Acts, Satan’s attacks on the church came on many different fronts. He attempted many forms of direct opposition and intimidation, and he tried to corrupt the church from within. These strategies were all unsuccessful in stopping or slowing the work of the church. Now Satan hoped to “divide and conquer” by raising one group of Christians against another.
When the number of disciples was multiplying indicates that the work of God’s kingdom was still highly successful

  42. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

When we receive the Holy Ghost we are also given wisdom from god to know what is right and what is wrong, and we should always continue to stay deep in prayer and always listen for god to lead us and give us instructions. It is through prayer that we find growth for our ministries and we so always seek after that.

  43. 1 But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.

Outreach, that’s what was happening. As we continue with outreach on a weekly basis, the more believers will be multiplied. The more that will come and be saved. Outreach is a non-ending operation, it must always continue. Here at POFW, we love first time visitors!

  44. 10. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. 11. Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him spread blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. 12. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, 13. And set up false witnesses, Which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: 14. For we heard him say, that this, Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us. 15. And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

  45. Hechos 6:15

  46. John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

They are being feed, but they are choosing to not eat but that doesn’t matter.

Sometimes when planting seeds you have to work with the ground to get it ready to receive the seed.

When God needs to reveals something to us we cannot resist♥️

It may seem like a battle and everybody has an opinion, BUT if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it.

    Acts 5:39 KJV
[39] But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

    Acts 6:10 KJV
[10] And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

  47. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

If we could all catch the vision…If we watch our leaders we can learn a lot. Leaders lead by integrity and action, sometimes things don’t even have to be said. We know how to pray because we see our leaders pray, we know how to fast because we see our leaders fast, we know how to serve because yes even our leaders serve. Because of this mentality striving to be like our Lord and savior we see fruit in the Kingdom. The kingdom characteristics are strictly to increase the Kingdom of God…So imagine if we all caught the vision…imagine if we all strive to be like christ and lead others into repentance. This city would catch on fire for Jesus!

  48. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
We should pray without ceasing in the Holy Ghost and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others

  49. There was a problem the church was growing and with the growing there came young people old people.
With so few in leadership the disciples the elderly came up short of being taking care of.
This growth of the church brought opportunity for others to serve.
To we have the same opportunity the church is growing and with that there are all kinds of people that need help.
Just be open to God and follow where he leads.

  50. v8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Stephen was zealous for God,and the Lord mighty used him by the power of the Spirit.

  51. And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Even in the early days of the church it quickly became apparent that all of the churches needs was too much just for disciples to handle, so they appointed men who were spirit filled and loved Jesus to look after these task so they could focus on study the word and prayer. These men fulfilled a role in the body of Christ. There role was no less important then the minister of the word.

Many might be tempted to look at the role of handing out food as a job less important then those who were preaching, but it was not.

Every job that makes up the body of chirst is important and plays and role in the success of the church.

  52. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

When every one is in their spot things function properly. When things function properly then there is room for more growth.

  53. “These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed for them as they laid their hands on them. So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭6:6-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/act.6.6-7.nlt

The apostles prayed for the seven and bless them. Soon many people became believers. When we pray for each other and bless them God will help you and bless you.

  54. 7 The Word of God prospered. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased dramatically. Not least, a great many priests submitted themselves to the faith.

Submit yourself to God and he’ll use you as a vessel for his kingdom. His favor will be placed upon you to spread his word everywhere you walk. Less of me for more of Him!

  55. nd Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

  56. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Why do we even do the blog?? The proof is in the pudding or in the Word!! Do you want to win your family members?? Read your Bible!! Do you want your co-workers to come to church?? Read your Bible!! Relatives to come to church?? Read your Bible!! Back-sliders to return to the truth?? Read your Bible!! No, that’s not the only way, but it is a huge part of how to get what the Devil took back to where they belong. If we don’t know His Word and we are in a private conversation and questions are asked, then you won’t have a Word to give. You can’t encourage to your best ability if you are not fully committed to reading and brushing up on your knowledge daily. In your daily reading God may give you the Word for what someone will ask you or confront you with later in the day. Read your Bible!!

  57. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

The church grew and increased but it took the church taking care of the inside in an effort to expand further. Let us member that it takes all of us to keep the body of Christ healthy and functioning that we may continue to expand the Kingdom.

    Acts 6:1‭-‬3 NLT

When there is growth in the church the enemy will always try to devide or disrupt it by using human emotions such as unfairness or other hurts. The enemy will even use believers to take down what God is doing.
The good thing is that when the Holy Ghost is in control , it will use wisdom to counter any attack of the enemy and in the process fix the situation.

  59. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

It’s okay to admit when we need help. Clearly we cannot do it all. When the number of demands outweigh the number of leaders more disciples are needed to pass the baton to. This is why we need to be ready in season and out of season because we could be called upon.

  60. 11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
I have no idea how I would handle this situation, all I know is that during my most difficult of trials, or when I’ve been attacked from every corner, is when I’ve had my most eye opening experiences with God. That’s when I’ve had my own personal glimpse of heaven. He has never left me and He has always given me the strength to face these hardships. God has used my most difficult times to reveal Himself to me and make my faith become more alive.

  61. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Spreading the word of God can do so many wonderful things. God needs all of his children, God can use each and every one of us to spread his word and use every one of us to show that he is real to show how he saved us and how he can save them. Let us the children or God grow in faith and in his word, spreading his word everyday.

  62. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

We must choose to follow the Lord’s plans for each and every one of us, for our continued prayers continue to reveal to us, his ultimate plan for us in his kingdom. He enjoys our time together, and he loves to share with us what he has in mind for us. I look forward to learning what it is that he wants me to do, for his ideas, and plans, dwarf my simple ideas, for he gives us everything that we have, and everything that he has had in mind for us.I enjoy the surprise look on someone’s face when I mention the Lord. The smile that appears upon their face, is proof that he is great. Thank you Jesus, Hallelujah and praise to you, my Almighty Savior.

  63. Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

The only way to have Revival!

    Acts 2:42 reads
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

  64. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

  65. 15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

When we spend time with God it shows

  66. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

The passage gives a necessary warning to the ministers of God’s Word not to spend too much time and strength upon any secular work, even though it be a work of charity. They must give themselves to the Word of God and to prayer. There are Christian laity to serve tables.

  67. “So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too.”(‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭6:7‬ ‭NLT )

  68. “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

To you God we give all glory, honor, and praises to your name. We give ourselves to you God to do your will and not our will, We worship you Jesus to you I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord forever. for every day that I live I shall praise thee and ministry your word to all your people.

  69. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

    2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: Colossians 4:2-3

  70. 12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

When they come against TRUTH, look out for a false witness.

  71. 15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

The world can accuse you and take it as far as being false witnesses against you. All the things that happen to Stephen was an attempt to destroy the progress of the gospel.

No matter what may come against the church, they won’t be able to deny we have been with God.

And that will separate us from all other “Christian” faiths, the undeniable tangle evidence that we have relationship with God.

  72. “So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin.

All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭6:12, 15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This just goes to show that people will always be people and everybody has to make a decision about things based on facts and information they’re able to see on their own. Just like they went with the flow but then saw him be as beautiful as an angel!

  73. 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

When you’re fulfilling the will of God there will be opposition. The adversary will try to discourage you and raise chaos to make you give up. It’s important that we daily stay connected to the Lord so we can endure through such times. Without Him, we will be weak and give up easily.
