Psalm 142

I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lorddid I make my supplication.

I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

  1. David is all alone fighting for his life so he cries out to God, he has no one else to run to, but David can encourage himself in the Lord. He is saying to himself, you know what, The Lord never leaves me nor forsakes me, He stands closer than a brother, I can trust in Him for ALL my needs. David ‘s cries and praises keep God’s attention on Him that’s why he was called a man after God’s hearts. It means a lot to be able to call on Jesus Name and know He is paying attention. To go to Jesus with every decision, every situation, or just to talk to and know He is listening. There is no God like our God!!! I can call Him in the midnight hour!!! I can say His Holy Name and He is here!!! Thank you Jesus for your attention!!

  2. 7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

When you start to step out of the world and into his light God will surround you with people who want nothing more then to lift you up in Christ. People who really want you to grow in Jesus. The loneliness of inequity fades and you can do nothing but praise him and be thankful for those that surround you. Thank you Jesus for my church family, for all the sisters and brothers I have gained. It truly is a blessing to be around such beautiful, spirit lead people. Amen!

  3. In reading this short Psalm this morning, it reminded me of the song “Just a Little Talk With Jesus”:

I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in
And then a little light from heaven fill my soul
He bathed my heart in love and He wrote my name above
And just a little talk with Jesus makes me whole

Now let us have a little talk with Jesus
Let us tell Him all about our troubles
He will hear our faintest cry, He will answer by and by
And when you feel a little prayer wheel turnin’
And you will know a little fire is burnin’
Find a little talk with Jesus makes it right

I may have doubts and fears, my eye be filled with tears
But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night
I go to him in prayer, He knows my every care
And just a little talk with my Jesus makes it right

Now let us have a little talk with Jesus
Let us tell Him all about our troubles
    He will hear…

So we just need to keep “that prayer wheel turnin”, to keep “that fire burnin”! Burn, Burn, Burn, Burn Burn.

  4. 4. I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

    5. I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

When clouds of doubt hover over me
Storms of life toss me to and fro
There is a place of refuge
    That I can go
He’s a shield from every tempest
He’s an anchor sure and true
    In times like these
    It’s good to know

    That God is my refuge
He’s a strong and mighty tower
That I can run in to
    God is my refuge
    Without Him
    What would I do

    Psalm 61:
    1. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

    2. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

    3. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

  5. Psalm 1-2 [ amp] I cry to the Lord with my voice; with my voice to the Lord do I make supplication.
[2] I pour out my complaint before Him; I tell before Him my trouble.
David was all alone, David was in a cave , He cried out to God for help, God heard his cry and he rescue him.
When you feel alone, and sad call on Jesus!
Praise your way through your troubles and rejoice !
    God hears your prayers !

  6. Thank you Jesus for today , you are a mighty God

Then I pray to you, O Lord . I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life. Hear my cry, for I am very low. Rescue me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me. Bring me out of prison so I can thank you. The godly will crowd around me, for you are good to me.”
    Psalms 142:5‭-‬7

  7. Psalm 142

1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lorddid I make my supplication.

2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

  8. 1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lorddid I make my supplication.

2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

This was a very trying time for David. He was stuck in the cave of Adullam because of the pursuit of Saul and the want to take David’s life. We find that even in the most frightening of this time and the fear of death so close, David found refuge in the fact that he could petition the Lord and voice his fears. David was not less of a man because even the greatest of soldiers have fear of the unknown when going into battle. We find that when David felt the loneliest, he could find the refuge in the strength of God.

I am reminded of one of my favorite psalm that David penned, Psalm 91:

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

    5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

If I dwell in the secret place of the most high, I shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. He will be my refuge and strength. I shall not fear man or beast.

We have to be the greatest example through prayer and fasting. We have to secure the word of God in our life to where we will have no doubt. We will fully trust God through every toil and snare. For we will be lifted by the hand of the almighty. Be the example people need in this day and hour.

  9. 4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living

I cannot count the number of times that I’ve felt like I was in in this almost exact position. A place feeling completely alone, like there was no one to talk to and nowhere to turn. It is a very humbling experience but then it remind you that at the end of the day, when you lay your head down, that God is your only true refuge. He is more than just a deity and More than Just a Friend, He is a place to run to when everything seems hopeless. There’s no God like Jehovah.

  10. So in Psalms Chapter 142 verses 1-5 we are talking about Jesus and how he cried unto Jesus with his voice and how he poured out his complaint against Jesus himself then when the Spirit was within me I knew a path where I walked and then I looked at my right hand and refuge failed me that no man cared about my soul and then I cried out to Jesus saying though art my refuge of the living

  11. Acts 142:1-5

    1. I cried unto the LORD with my voice;
with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.

    2. I poured out my complaint before him;
I shewed before him my trouble.

    3. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
    then thou knewest my path.
In the way wherein I walked
have they privily laid a snare for me.

    4. I looked on my right hand, and beheld,
but there was no man that would know me:
    refuge failed me;
no man cared for my soul.

    5. I cried unto thee, O LORD:
I said, Thou art my refuge
and my portion in the land of the living.

    I need Thee every hour,
    Most gracious Lord;
    No tender voice like Thine,
    Can peace afford.
    I need Thee, O I need Thee,
    Every hour I need Thee!
    O bless me now, Savior,
    I come to Thee.
    I need Thee every hour,
    Stay Thou near by;
    Temptations lose their power,
    When Thou art nigh.

    I need Thee, O I need Thee;
    Every hour I need Thee!
O bless me now, my Savior,
    I come to Thee.

    I need Thee every hour,
    In joy or pain;
    Come quickly and abide,
    Or life is vain.
    I need Thee, O I need Thee;
    Every hour I need Thee!
O bless me now, my Savior,
    I come to Thee.
O bless me now, my Savior,
    I come to Thee.

What a peace of mind we have through God our gracious Father! Even though this world is steadily losing the fear of God …. God made a way of escape way back on Calvary!! God bless our Nation and give us HOLY BOLDNESS to stand in the face of terror!

  12. 5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Refuge: a place of safety and shelter from trouble, pursuit, or danger.

You are my hiding place, Lord. When the world tries to come at me with all the chaos and pandemonium, You are where I turn. I am blessed to dwell in Your Presence. You are everything I need in this world. You are my portion.

    Psalm 91
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

  13. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus

Psa 142:6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
Psa 142:7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

These scriptures remind me of the message brother Godwin preached Sunday morning. Basically in a nutshell, the deeper you go into sin is the deeper pit you dig yourself into until finally you find yourself in a prison that you cannot escape. The fact that a person continually progresses into a worse state is referred to as “the depths of satan”.

Rev 2:24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan… We must not dive into these depths, but we must choose the high road.

  14. Psalms 142:1-2
    1) I CRIED unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.
    2) I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

The scripture that came to mind as I read this was 1 Peter 5:7 which says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

So thankful today that we can call upon the greatest name there is… JESUS.
We can cry out to HIM. We can make our supplications to HIM. We can pour out our complaint to HIM. We can shew before HIM our trouble. We can cast our care upon HIM. WHY??? Because HE Cares About Us!!!
No matter what we are going through, no matter what we need, no matter how we feel, we can “Take It To The LORD In Prayer,” because HE Cares About Us.

    Thank You JESUS!!

  15. “Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul. I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/114/psa.142.4-5.nkjv

When you feel you have nowhere to go or no one to turn to remember the Lord is your refuge and shelter.
He will never leave you or forsake you.

  16. 3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

When all seems unsure to us, then He knows our path. When it seems all hope is lost, then He knows our path. We don’t know every step He’ll lead us through. There may be rocky roads and snares laid about, but know that God is right beside you. He will never leave nor forsake you and all will work out to the glory of God.

  17. 4I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.

The unrighteousness always looking for help in all the wrong places. They go to doctors, counselors, psychiatrics. They only want monies and will tell you what you want to hear to satisfy you. But all we need is God who will hear our prayers, and will always be on his mind.

  18. “I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

‘God is my ONLY refuge and strength, and HE will hide me under the ROCK safe and in the time of trouble.’

Through out my years of being a Child of GOD, HE has always been there. As His word says that HE will NEVER leave me nor forsake me. I can only hold on to His promises for me.

  19. Psalms 142
My mind immediately went to an old song we used to sing………..

    Lead Me To The Rock
    Hear my cry oh God
    Hear my cry oh God
    Attend unto my prayer
From the ends of the earth
From the ends of the earth
    Will I cry unto thee
    When my heart is overwhelmed
    When my heart is overwhelmed
    Lead me to that rock
    Lead me to that rock
    That is higher than I
    For Thou has been
    For Thou has been
    A shelter for me
    A mighty strong tower
    From the enemy

In the most desolate times of life Gid us still my refuge. The enemy will attack from every side but I know a God WHO is greater

5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

  20. Whether an emotional, physical.or spiritual restraint in our life;Psalms always shows us that we can come to God in our own way . Whether praising or selfishly. God will listen to our needs . Do not ever let the circumstance keep you from communicating. But as long as we are quiet are defeat is in our silence .
Communication is important in our physical and spiritual life.

  21. “When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It seems as though there may be an epidemic these days of depression. No one likes me. They are not my friend. People killing themselves because they don’t have hope or they are alone. I doubt that the majority of the people today could feel like David did. He was hiding in a cave where N people were trying to kill him. His response was not to end his life. His response was not to lay in self pity. His response was:

“I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication. I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    To pray!

I know we all have experiences that are hard, traumatic, or overwhelming. The answer is to cry aloud to Jesus. Let your prayer be known. There are things only he can comfort. Let Jesus and the Holy Ghost work in your life.

  22. “When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn. Wherever I go, my enemies have set traps for me.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

At one point or another we have all felt this way. The feeling of being overwhelmed and trapped is as if you are completely vulnerable. Its as if at anytime you could go down and you’re dodging every trap. I’m so grateful that we have a refuge to run to. We can run to the creator of all. And He will understand what we are going through and will give us direction.

  23. Even when I’m a cave David prayed!

4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

David cried out to God reminding Him that man is not always faithful but God is forever faithful. David goes on and request God to deliver him. I am reminded of times in my life when it felt like I was in a dark cave, a dark place and God became my refuge. Not that He immediately took me out of the dark cave but He gave me a place of safety while still inside. The in the process of time he delivered me.

When we find ourselves in a cave remember it’s not a dungeon there is a way out and often times it’s not blocked or hard to find. We just have to allow God to be our place of refuge as we navigate to find the light. Because the light is the way out. Jesus is the light His Word is the light. So find your way through the truths of His Word and you will make it through.

  24. In one of the above post some one said the Lord stands closer than a brother, I love that, I have experienced the Lord being closer than a brother, a sister, mother or father. That is why David loved the Lord so much. God is so good.

  25. 4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

When we are in the deepest pit and have no one to help us out, our only refuge is to call on the Lord. He cares for us so much more than we know! Bro Fielding used to say God serves his regular customers! Don’t wait till you are in a pit to call on God! Praise him now, talk to him now and then when you are in a pit, you know he hears your faintest cry.

  26. 5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

God is alway with you when you call his name Jesus!

  27. 142:6 attend unto my cry for I am Brought, delivered me from my persecutors : for they are stronger than I.

These are FACTS, and he is making sure he is being honest
With God. And open Ing up his heart to Him.
Acknowledging the facts it’s not a sign of weakness but
It’s an act of trust and surrender to the Father. Acknowledging that his God is able to delivered him from anything and anyone.

  28. 1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lorddid I make my supplication.

6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

  29. Psa 142:4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
Psa 142:5 I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Even in our darkest situation, God is still our refuge. When we feel like there is no one to turn to, He is there waiting for us to turn to him.

Many songs came to mind while reading this chapter, but this one won the post 🙂

    He’s In The Waiting

    Slow down, take time
    Breath in He said
    He’d reveal what’s to come
    The thoughts in His mind
    Always higher than mine
    He’ll reveal all to come

    Take courage my heart
    Stay steadfast my soul
    He’s in the waiting
    He’s in the waiting
    Hold onto your hope
    As your triumph unfolds
    He’s never failing
    He’s never failing

    Sing praise my soul
    Find strength in joy
Let His Words lead you on
Do not forget His great faithfulness
    He’ll finish all He’s begun

    So take courage my heart
    Stay steadfast my soul
    He’s in the waiting
    He’s in the waiting
    Hold onto your hope
    As your triumph unfolds
    He’s never failing
    He’s never failing

  30. 4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

I get where the psalmist is coming from here. Their will be a time when we feel like no one has our 6. Truth is no one knows what we go through quite like our Father. Our parents and loved ones may know something is wrong but not know how to help or the ability. Their are battles that are personal and no one can fight but us. God uses those to strengthen us.

Refuge at the most raw level is found in Jesus. No one can care and comfort us like Jesus can. He knows the inner workings of every man. He knows us better than anyone because he formed us in our mothers whom and knows the number of hairs on our head. Men will fail us but God never will. He is our greatest refuge.

  31. “I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me. Then I pray to you, O Lord. I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When times I’m down and alone. When I have nobody to run to and hide. Where there is pain in my heart is heavy with life and situations. I run to you for refuge. To find peace and rest. I go to you. When my heart is far from you, I can still ball on you. And you’ll be there.

Brother let me your shelter. // Need to Breathe

  32. ‘I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles.’
    Psalms 142:2

We all need someone to talk to, share with, and even complain to. Imagine the unity that would be established, if we complained to Jesus about others, instead of peers. We would prevent casting a dark light on others in the eyes of someone who had nothing to do with the situation. Keeping their testimony pure, as well as yours.

But just like any great conversation and friendship, communication is a two-way street. If you expect Jesus to listen to all you have to say, then you equally have to listen to what He has to say. And sometimes it is not going to be what you want to hear, but its what we NEED to hear!

  33. Psalm 142:3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

When you feel overwhelmed find confidence in knowing that God knows our journey and our walk. Thank God he knows our path and our walk in all of its good and all of its bad.

    I go to the rock
    I know He’s able
    I go to the rock……..

  34. In this chapter it is a good example of showing how to worship and praise God. We should bring all of our worries and struggles to him!
    Be strong like Samson
    Be wise like David
    Be fearless like Daniel
Be LOVING like our Pastor and Sister Watts!!!

  35. v8 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; thou shall deal beautifully with me.

Our God is Awesome!!! He is worthy of our praise and worship.
When we worship Him, we can expect physical healings and deliverance from chains of sinful bondage.
We should expect God to do the impossible as we lift Him up with our adoration and praise.

  36. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    SAY SOMETHING

1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.

Peril and pain are evident in life. There are multiple sources of peril and pain, misfortune, personal choices and global challenges. With pain comes a usually grievous response. A scream of fear, a reaction of retaliation, a vengeance act of judgment.

The example we witness here from the psalmist is that his cry or petition is made with his voice. The voice is a powerful tool. With our voice we bless or curse, encourage or condemn, justify or judge and in the response of pain we cry or complain to the LORD.

We understand the power of the voice in PRAYER. We shall have what we say, what we ask and as David is quoted here by supplication.

SUPPLICATION – to ask humbly and earnestly of.

To ask means to use my voice or SAY SOMETHING to GOD in humble sincerity. Not angrily or as a complaint. JESUS will hear our cry.

May JESUS lead us to a season of Prayer to GOD for the pain and peril of our society today. From the fear of a virus to the pain of injustice and sinful acts. The CHURCH must rise in Prayer, Faith and Power of the Holy Ghost.

  37. 1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lorddid I make my supplication.
    He was praying for supplication

  38. 4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

We all have have shortcomings. Man/Woman can and will fail you at some point.

But there is One who remains faithful – who never leaves your side.

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭KJV‬

“I will remain confident in this I will see the goodness of the Lord

We set our hope on You
We set Our hope on Your love
We set our hope on the One who is the everlasting God
You are the Everlasting God” // William Murphy.

  39. “When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn. Wherever I go, my enemies have set traps for me. I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Anytime David felt overwhelmed, he found confidence in knowing that God knew his journey and his walk. God knows our path and our walk in all of its good and all of its bad.

  40. “When my spirit was overwhelmed and weak within me [wrapped in darkness], You knew my path. In the way where I walk They have hidden a trap for me.

I cried out to You, O LORD; I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. Give attention to my cry, For I am brought very low; Rescue me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:3, 5-6‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Even when at your lowest of lows cry out unto god. When we hit rock bottom there is only one way we can go which is up. Thankful that god will never leave me nor forsake me. God knows and sees all. Nothing is too hard for god. All we have to do is reach up and say here I am lord. Give it to him right now in Jesus Name!

  41. 5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

We should always remember that we have a refuge to run to whenever we are weary or wounded spiritually, he is the one that hears us when we cry out to him and he will always step in whenever we need help. I’m so thankful that I can rest my cares on god.

  42. NLT
    Psalms 142:5
    [5]Then I pray to you, O  lord.
I say, “You are my place of refuge.
You are all I really want in life.

    You are my hiding place
    You always fill my heart
    With songs of deliverance
    Whenever I am afraid
    I will trust in You

    I will trust in You
Let the weak say I am strong
In the strength of the Lord

  43. “I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Before the chapter begins, the title says ‘Maschil of David; A prayer when he was in the cave.’. Not knowing what maschil meant, so I looked it up and found it is a didactic poem which gives instruction. The first verse says I cried unto the Lord with my voice. So David here is telling us when we find ourselves in a dark place – hiding, fearing for our life, without a friend in sight – we need to cry out to Jesus. We may be weak and tired from stressing, but that does not warrant us the right to be silent. Whether it’s a whisper or a roar, we should always cry out to Him.

I thank God for being our strength and fighting for us. I pray we cry out to Jesus, no matter the situation, good or bad, happy or sad. Always cry out to Him!

  44. Psalms 142:5
I cried unto them, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and the portion in the land of the living.

Today I found out we are under martial law through Thursday morning. I was devastated about no church Wednesday night. I called sister Anne and Pastor is seeing about this situation. I look forward for Wednesday fellowship and was almost in tears. God is in us, all will be fine, but my fellowship with the church is so very important to me. Lord Jesus will make this fine. Thank you Pastor for all you do!

  45. 4. I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me: no man cared for my soul. 5. I cried unto thee, O Lord: Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living, 6. Attend unto my cry for I am brought very low : deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I. 7. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

  46. 1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lorddid I make my supplication.

Who do we cry out to?
Jesus this world maybe a friend?
We should cry out to the God of heaven the God of our salvation before going to tell others our problems hurts for he is the true friend a friend that is closer than a brother.et us practice this to go to God first everyday this week and see what God will do in our lives.

  47. 3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

Thank God for keeping on the path you have set for me even when I am overwhelmed and I feel like giving up. Thank you for carrying me when I have and loving me through it all. Thank you for being the loudest voice that screams of your love when the enemy tries to drown me with lies. Oh to think where I would be without you. Thank you Lord.

There are people who are suffering and don’t know where to go. They asked for help wanting to get out of there sin waiting for some one to help them and the church comes in to help the lost. We should help and reach the the lost more then ever because they need Jesus Christ and have the peace that the church has.

  49. “Hear my cry, for I am very low. Rescue me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This Scripture means that, If we cry out to The Lord to rescue us from troubles. He will bring us out from the hands of our enemies.

  50. 5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

He is the great I am! He is our life, our way maker, and our refuge. No matter the situation God will always be there to show himself. If we show our trust and faith in him God will show himself in our life!

  51. Cast Your Cares on Him

2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

Some problems that we deal with was never meant for us to endure. However, when we try to do things our own way we bring about issues that we could have avoided from the beginning. Even though we made the mistake, God is a forgiving God.

1 Peter 5:7…Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. God really does care for us. Sometimes we may feel like we’ve been backed up into a corner and no help in sight. God knows where we stand and how to bring us out just in time. He is a loving God and he just wants us to succeed. The more we trust in him, the stronger we become.

  52. “Then I pray to you, O Lord. I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Many times in life we might want to the things on our own and fail. But when when we cry out to Jesus, He becomes our refuge in any situation that we might find ourselves in Him. He is all we need and we forget at times that He is what we need now. What this country needs right now.

  53. Psa 142:5  I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

A prayer unto the Lord from David. David a worshiper a praiser a warrior…he wasn’t ashamed to cry unto the Lord when he’s in need. Some and most wont ask for any help at all when they’re in desperation but David knows who his refuge is. He knew who he could run to, don’t forget who brought you out of the darkness in the first place God will do it all again over and over again. Like a Kleenex box pull one out and there’s another and another and another….that’s his grace thank you Jesus.

  54. Psa 142:5  I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

    Psalms 142:4‭-‬5 KJV

The truth about this is that it will be true at some point on your walk with the Lord. A time where there would be no one. A time in the wilderness where you’d want some one but no one will be there becuase that is what God wants. There is only One God. And that is what he is trying to show us. He will be the I AM. Whatever you need. He IS. He Is our very present help in time of trouble. And it’s not that he wants you alone its that he wants to show you Himslef in a deeper manner.

  56. I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles. When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn. Wherever I go, my enemies have set traps for me.
    Psalms 142:2‭-‬3 NLT

Now days people are looking every where for someone to talk too. They are wanting someone to confide in, that they are willing to pay someone thousands of dollars to talk about their problems.
They are looking for answers to their situations and dont know where or someone to turn to.
This is the opportunity that we have to tell them about the love of Jesus. We can share with them that Jesus has everything in His hands and all we have to do is trust Him. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. He is our refuge in the time of the storm and our friend whenever we need Him.
This world needs Jesus and we have the privilege to show them.

  57. 2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

When I get overwhelmed, I pray, I cry to God, it’s the best way to clear your mind and solve your problems, God is the best shoulder to cry on, no matter the complication!

  58. 6 Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me.

7 Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.

    Psalms 142:6‭-‬7 NIV

He hears our cry, He fights our battle’s. He leads us in His is path He guards our heart. He protects us from the enemy He is our light and our salvation! He will never forsake us!

    LIVE GIVE JESUS!

  59. 1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lorddid I make my supplication.
2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

“I cried unto the Lord with my voice. . .” It was not a quiet prayer, but he cried out with his voice unto the Lord. Supplication: the action of asking or begging for something earnestly or humbly. Seeking supplication and pouring out complaints, a practice we should be doing every single day in prayer. Cast you cared upon him.

3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

When in prayer, we should pray until we feel that relief or as the passage says, “. . . my spirit was overwhelmed within me. . . “. There is a moment in prayer, a point where you feel that release from being overwhelmed from within and for your burdens. It gives clarity to our perspective paths and He points is in the right direction. Feeling Lost? Go Pray!!

  60. “I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We went to a wedding a few years back and in the prayer they said pray quietly to yourself. I had two questions…1. What am I ashamed of and 2. How can I pray to myself aren’t I suppose to pray to God? The pr as yer the 100% will never get answered is the unspoken prayer. I don’t want there to be any question what I’m asking God for. When I cry he hears me .

  61. “…A trap has been hidden along my pathway. Even if you look, you won’t see anyone who cares enough to walk beside me. There is no place to hide, and no one who really cares.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭142:3-4‬ ‭CEV‬‬

We shouldn’t be waiting for each other to fail and stumble, we should be gathered together in love, hand in hand, ready to pick a brother or sister up in their time of need. The lesson we portrayed Sunday in GForce was “to see change, we need to be change, loving one another no matter what.” How can we teach that to our children if we as adults cannot live by that ourselves. Be the example of love they see everyday if they’re life. Be there as spiritual support and brotherly support no matter the difference we may have. Be somebody’s hiding place when all seems to be going wrong for them. Be love.

  62. 2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble. 3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. 4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

I believe we all have been here and it’s such a very lonely place, especially to sense that no human being really cares about your life, whether you survive or not. This Psalm is encouragement to the struggling reader to look toward the One who always cares for us, our God Almighty. We can always trust that He is with us and watching over us no matter where we are or what we are facing.

  63. Speaking it releases
    To protest to Jesus.

Prayers never spoken with my voice/mouth equals bottled up (pressed down emotions) it may be less painful in the short term but the long term pain of unanswered prayers because they were never spoken can be overwhelming, talk to Jesus give it to HIM.

    Psalm 142:1 KJV
[1] I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.

    Psalm 142:7 KJV
[7] Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

    Mark 9:24 KJV
[24] And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

  64. I cry aloud to the Lord;
I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy.
    I pour out before him my complaint;
before him I tell my trouble.

What a beautiful prayer!!! No matter your need He has the answer!!! Jesus knows exactly what we need! So cry out to him in your trials, cry out your problems, cry out to him your needs. He will always hear us. No problem to big for him. He is able to do the impossible!!!

  65. 1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.

I have cried many tears that he has comforted, many a day my heart ached and he comforted me. I feel so blessed to have him change my life, when I didn’t feel like I deserved his forgiveness, his comfort, his love, his mercy, his time, his everything. How the creator of everything can show me the kind of love that he does is mind boggling, he deserves so much more than I can give him, and yet he loves us regardless. Lord, you are so wonderfully amazing, so perfect, so awesome, so many things that my limited vocabulary can’t even begin to scratch the surface of, I can’t praise you enough, I can’t express how great you are, and how thankful I am, that you love me.
