1 Chronicles Chapter 12 – Chronological

Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war.

They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.

The chief was Ahiezer, then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; and Berachah, and Jehu the Antothite.

And Ismaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty; and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Josabad the Gederathite,

Eluzai, and Jerimoth, and Bealiah, and Shemariah, and Shephatiah the Haruphite,

Elkanah, and Jesiah, and Azareel, and Joezer, and Jashobeam, the Korhites,

And Joelah, and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham of Gedor.

And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;

Ezer the first, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,

10 Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,

11 Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,

12 Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,

13 Jeremiah the tenth, Machbanai the eleventh.

14 These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was over an hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.

15 These are they that went over Jordan in the first month, when it had overflown all his banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west.

16 And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto David.

17 And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

18 Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

19 And there fell some of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.

20 As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zilthai, captains of the thousands that were of Manasseh.

21 And they helped David against the band of the rovers: for they were all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.

22 For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.

23 And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the Lord.

24 The children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war.

25 Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valour for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.

26 Of the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred.

27 And Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronites, and with him were three thousand and seven hundred;

28 And Zadok, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father’s house twenty and two captains.

29 And of the children of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept the ward of the house of Saul.

30 And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous throughout the house of their fathers.

31 And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, which were expressed by name, to come and make David king.

32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

33 Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: they were not of double heart.

34 And of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.

35 And of the Danites expert in war twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.

36 And of Asher, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, forty thousand.

37 And on the other side of Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.

38 All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

39 And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.

40 Moreover they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.

  1. 2 They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.

This scripture tells us how the were armed and prepared for the battle ahead of them, and I’m pretty sure that most of them were scared and some them were thinking about what laid beyond the battle: this scripture tells me that we should always be prepared for any battle that may come against us in life and we should always know how we should be armed for that battle( which is with the sword of the spirit aka the word of god.) and that whatever battles may come against us that we should always focus on the victory that lays just beyond the battle.

  2. Verse 38 AMP “All these, being men of war arrayed in battle formation, came to Hebron with a perfect (committed) heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel were also of one mind to make David king.” Once again this chapter shows, the unity and commitment for the purpose of God’s plan. Verse 17 AMP says “David went out to meet them and said to them, “If you have come peacefully to me to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no violence or wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on [what you are doing] and punish [you].” God sees your heart/commitment and the attitude in which your approaching to do His work. There is no room for deceit or discord; as confusion and disunity can set in. Now more than ever we need to bind together, even in this social distancing arena that we are living in as my God can do anything!

  3. 18 Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

We have received the grace of God and comfort from the Holy Spirit, thus we should support the work of the Lord and endeavor to increase his kingdom of redeemed saints.

  4. These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was over an hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.

  5. 22 For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.

23 And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the Lord.

David was putting an army of great valiant men together. They were many soldiers that could most definitely fight. Throughout the tribes of Israel David has compiled roughly an army of 250,000 men that was ready to follow David into battle. He was ready to take the land as he was appointed king.

Can I tell you no matter how many men David had, he was still following the word of God. He was making the first choice to keep the commandments of God and be obedient to his words. I know that even when we are doing the business of the kingdom of God, if we do not follow the commandments of God or be obedient to his word, then we will not be successful. We have to make time each and every day to find the will of God and obey his words. We have to listen to his voice. We have to make sure that things do not cloud our judgment and crowd our ears so we can not hear the voice of God. It’s his will not our will and it’s his way not our way. He has to increase so that we must decrease.

  6. 12:29,40. And of the children of Benjamin
The kindred of Saul, three thousand
For hither to the greatest part of them
Had kept the ward of the house of Saul.
    —-
40 moreover they that were night them
Even unto Issachar and Zebulon, and Nephtaly
Brought bread on asses and on camels
And on mules and on ice and meat meal cakes if figs
And bunches of raisins and wine and oil and oxen
And sheep abundantly for there was joy in Israel.

    ———

Thousands upon thousand came for this special appointed day.
The preacher says that there is a season
( appointed time) for everything and a time for every
Delight and event And purpose under heaven.

This was a time to celebrate, to leave things that happened behind and be prepared for the new
Things to come( new King, new rules, more hope…)
Some were not ready, but most were.
There was a changed and they embraced it. Celebrated and went forward.

This brings me to 2020, with everything going on in this world, what are we doing? How are we responding? What are to do?
    👉🏼🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
    Keep on keeping on.
Happy to know that the King is still in control
Thanks be to God that alouds me to still come to his house to celebrate Him and he is doing these last days.
    Hallelujah!!!!

  7. 14 These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was over an hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.
15 These are they that went over Jordan in the first month, when it had overflown all his banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west.

Wow! These men were dedicated to making sure that David was on the throne and that he was successful. Like God chose the most elite warriors and band them together with David. What I can truly appreciate about this chapter is how it gives credit to these men’s strengths, mentioning what field of battle they were skilled at and with what weapon, the previous and following chapters we know and see that God went before the people of Israel to fight for them and whenever they were disobedient their adversaries gained the upper hand, it was God who fought their battles, but using these men’s strengths. While he is strong during our weakness, and we rely on him even more, it is also in our strength that God reveals His power.

  8. “They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Not only were they armed, but they could fight with both hands. It is important for us not to lose sight of the battle. We are the army of God and we must fight to get souls. We can’t just fight when it is convenient, but all the time. We can’t just fight when it is easy, we must learn to use both hands.

  9. 38 All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

All these men came with one goal in mind, one mission to make David king over all. United by one heart. In the same way our church needs to unite, in the Love of Christ, One God, One Faith, One Baptism, living Jesus so we can Give JESUS. Happy with each other’s success and sad in each other’s defeat. Lifting each other in prayer daily so our King Jesus can be known in the whole world. Unite us God!!! Let us be ambidextrous so the left and the right can be one always working for the best of the church and for your Glory alone!!!! In Jesus Name Amen 🙏🏻

  10. 1chron. 12:18 [ amp] Then the Sprit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Yours we are, David, and on your side, you son of Jesse! Peace, peace be to your helpers, for your God helps you. Then David received them and made them officers of his troops.
God is revealing his power so that there will be peace. There were alot battles going on of violence. Some of the men were out to betry.
    Let God fight your battles.
John 14:27 [ amp] Peace , I leave with you ; My [ own] peace I now give and bequeath to you.
Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. ( Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled. ]
    Live Jesus, Give Jesus.

  11. 17 And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

These were true mighty men of war by their descriptions and came to put David on the throne as King. I believe they were led by God as verse 18 puts it. The chapter ends with showing the great joy they had throughout this great host. When we do the will of God there be joy -even if there is a battle. The joy of the Lord IS our strength.

  12. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    THE LORD RUBUKE IT

17 And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

We are privileged a great responsibility in The Kingdom of GOD to lead people on behalf of GOD. People are attracted to VICTORY but not as much to commitment. It is compelling to be a part of something that is VICTORIOUS and FUN. But, it is challenging to be a part of something that requires a faithful commitment.

This commitment is usually presented ini advance but realized after a season. We witness this here with King David. He was a warrior and knew those of a warring spirit. David didn’t threaten the men with an attack of himself, but appealed to a higher authority. He communicated to them that the GOD of their fathers would be the judge and he would also be the jury and jailer.

We are wise to examine and pray about every encounter, engagement and effort. The apostle John left these words of counsel to us:

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

    iPraise

  14. 1 Chronicles 12:22 (AMP)
“For at that time day by day men kept coming to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.”

“Day By Day Men Kept Coming”
This scripture says that “Day By Day (meaning Everyday) Men Kept Coming” to help David, until there was a great army of men.

All I could think about is… there is a time coming for POFW when we shall see people coming to church “Day By Day” to be saved, become a soldier in the Lord’s Army, and to help fight this battle we are in for the Kingdom of God.

There is An Army Rising Up!!

  15. I Chronicles 12. Message
16-17 There were also men from the tribes of Benjamin and Judah who joined David in his wilderness fortress. When David went out to meet them, this is what he said: “If you have come in peace and to help me, you are most welcome to join this company; but if you have come to betray me to my enemies, innocent as I am, the God of our ancestors will see through you and bring judgment on you.”

18 Just then Amasai chief of the Thirty, moved by God’s Spirit, said,

We’re on your side, O David,
    We’re committed, O son of Jesse;
All is well, yes, all is well with you,
And all’s well with whoever helps you.
Yes, for your God has helped and does help you.
So David took them on and assigned them a place under the chiefs of the raiders.

Try the spirits see if they be of God.
Thankfully these men were coming to assist David. I am sure David was glad for reinforcements yet he was bold enough and wise enough to question their true motives. Not until David was confident that these men were there to help did he give them their assignments. True leadership must have the ability to speak with spiritual authority. David knew that God would reveal the truth and he proclaims this .
Sensitive to the Spirit of God is so important in our life daily. You might see a group of people that want to make you think they are spiritually aware of God’s word and they may try to lure you into something that is in direct opposition of the Word. Beware and stay close to truth and leadership. Stay in the word and under spiritual authority. This is why God has placed an order vin the church . It is for spiritual safety . David knew God would reveal what their true motives were. David knew the order of authority.
Confirmation was made by God as His spirit moved upon Amasai. Look at what he says we are committed. Commitment was and is the key .We must continue to stay committed Amasai knew that God was going to help them . We too must stay fully committed and know that the battle belongs to God.

Psalm 37:5 ESV Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.

  16. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
One of the things we see here is the division of troops and the chain of command from each category. Kinda like a flow chart, we find the most loyal and strong at the top of the chain of command and then those troops fall under the commanders and generals. This is delegated authority that David has learned and then implements himself. In fact, delegated authority and rank and file can be found with its roots in heaven and thereby instituted by God himself.

  17. I Chronicles 12:38 All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect (loyal) heart to Hebron, to make David King over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart (mind) to make David king.

2 Samuel 3:1 Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.
    David strength grew too.

Psslm101:2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when will thou come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

Psalm 110:3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, In the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

  18. 18. Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

    39. And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.

David was able to receive them because their brethren had prepared for them.
If we don’t prepare for all of our brothers (and sisters) that are coming, we won’t be able to receive them.

  19. 17 And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

  20. They wanted David as King because God Promised and they made sure they were ready for battle and that King David was at his Best . They respected the man of God and respected and fear God and that’s how it should be

  21. From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.
    1 Chronicles 12:32 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/1ch.12.32.NLT

Wisdom! Just as they noticed the politics going on, so do we. I have been praying “God, let me see with Your Eyes so I can pray and take action accordingly.”
We must never loose sight of the times we are in. It is crucial now more than ever to establish a strong walk with God, get our homes in order and pour into our families spiritually, and help win souls and advance the Kingdom!

  22. 2 They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin

These men were equipped to battle with both hands. We must use this as our example to equip ourselves and our children so that they can do battle regardless of what comes their way .

  23. Thank you Jesus for today – another great day

Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, the leader of the Thirty, and he said, “We are yours, David! We are on your side, son of Jesse. Peace and prosperity be with you, and success to all who help you, for your God is the one who helps you.” So David let them join him, and he made them officers over his troops.
    1 Chronicles 12:18 NLT

  24. 19 And there fell some of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.
22 For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God

The church must be ready for battle against our enemy we must be leaders we must be brave and loyal to the kingdom of God. We do not fight with bomb bombs and guns but in assessor prayer because prayer changes things and situations. We must be Prayer warriors for the world today.

  25. 2 They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.
These men came ready to fight with weapons in both hands, ready for whatever enemy or thing that comes their way. We need to be prepared to go into battle with our sword in hand ready to fight when the enemy tries to attack us.

  26. 1 Chronicles 12:1-2,8
[1]The following men joined David at Ziklag while he was hiding from Saul son of Kish. They were among the warriors who fought beside David in battle.
[2]All of them were expert archers, and they could shoot arrows or sling stones with their left hand as well as their right. They were all relatives of Saul from the tribe of Benjamin.
[8]Some brave and experienced warriors from the tribe of Gad also defected to David while he was at the stronghold in the wilderness. They were expert with both shield and spear, as fierce as lions and as swift as deer on the mountains.
We are all mighty warriors and our strength comes from the Lord. We all have talents and a calling. Do you realize that God has a special calling on your life? He does! No less than five times in the Scripture, Jesus called his followers to “go” into the world and to be witnesses for him. And that’s exactly what he is saying to you today. He’s calling you to be his witness. And you can begin right where you are!

  27. 8Some brave and experienced warriors from the tribe of Gad also defected to David while he was at the stronghold in the wilderness. They were expert with both shield and spear, as fierce as lions and as swift as deer on the mountains.

Even the men of Gad realize God was with David. They put their trust David, knowing God was with him. We too should be among company who sides with God. We can build each other up, and don’t let the enemy bring you down.

  28. 38 All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

After reading these verses this scripture came to mind:
“He hath made everything beautiful in his time…” Ecclesiastes 3:11

Now there is rejoicing and God has changed the hearts of the people to follow David. In God’s time we hear that a lot. The truth of it is that no matter how much we may want to rush time. He is the one that knows when. It only becomes frustration when we move in our ways on our speed. I too, wish sometimes I would know God’s times and try and figure it all out. Yet I cant. So what is best to do is to know Him and ask Him what needs to be done at a certain season of life. He knows when its time.

  29. 2 They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left hand in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.

It is vital that we arm ourselves with the armour of God. We need God now! We must be unified to work together against the evil in this world.

  30. “David went to meet them and said, “If you are coming as friends to help me, you are welcome here. Join us! But if you intend to betray me to my enemies, even though I have not tried to hurt you, the God of our ancestors will know it and punish you.””
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12:17‬ ‭GNT‬‬

Be careful who you allow to just come into your life. Must make sure that they are of god and their intentions are good. This is why it’s important to stay prayed & fasted up and obey leadership. Sometimes it may not be what we want to hear but they are lead by god. Don’t get caught up because not everyone’s intentions are good.

  31. “David went out to meet them and said to them, “If you have come peacefully to me to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no violence or wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on [what you are doing] and punish [you].””
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12:17‬ ‭AMP‬‬

One thing that stood out to me was the phrase “my heart shall be united with you” We must be careful who’s heart we unite with. We must guard our hearts and let God lead us because it might seem right in our own minds but in God’s eyes it maybe an error. Some may seem like and say they come peacefully but God is the only one who knows all. And He will guide us if we let Him.

  32. v 17
There is strength in unity. God loves the unity of His people
He spoke of the need to be as one ” that the world may believe ” John17:11-23

  33. “For day by day men kept coming to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12:22‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The anointing is captivating and will draw people to you. There’s nothing like being alone with God but the feeling of being with those who are also connected to God has a good feeling to it as well. I thank God for my brothers and sisters in Him and for the fellowship we share! I pray we take time to fellowship one another, so iron may sharpen iron as God intended

  34. 8 Some Gadites defected to David at his stronghold in the desert. They were valiant warriors, trained for battle, expert with shield and spear. Their faces were like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as gazelles on the mountains.

Know we are fighting for the kingdom of God in this world. Seek Him daily that we will be trained with his power and favor to go against any evil. Follow His kingdom to know when to fight and when He has already won.

  35. “They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We should always have the armor of God on. Be willing and able to use it.

  36. The valiant men of the 11 tribes new who they were battling with and for. Let us read the Bible and learn about the signs of the times that we may be faithful as King David.s Men.

  37. All of them were expert archers, and they could shoot arrows or sling stones with their left hand as well as their right. They were all relatives of Saul from the tribe of Benjamin.
    1 Chronicles 12:2 NLT

To be an expert warrior there is practice, discipline and an attitude to be the best. We must take that mentality and put it to practice in our spiritual lives. We must have tje attitude, practice and discipline by studying His Word. His Word will make us stronger and give us the victory over everything that comes our way.

  38. Can you stay in line?

“All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Those that could keep rank…. Those who know understand respect and practice authority came. There are too many battles list because someone gets out of rank and tries to be a hero. The ones above us are fighting the same battle but their vantage point is that to protect their soldiers so we better keep rank and keep in marching. This takes me back to Sunday school where we had to I list in the army of the Lord. Good soldiers Zac know how to follow orders. Soldiers that stay alive know how to follow orders.

  39. 22 For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.

Seems like a simple thought but people came daily to help David until there was a great host. So the people did not show up for a moment and then leave the people stayed. They stayed by David’s side to fight. I wonder how many great men and women are out there that just need people to come to the fight and stay in the fight as part of the “host”? How many great victories could be won if people would just stay in the fight?

  40. “All these men came in battle array to Hebron with the single purpose of making David the king over all Israel. In fact, everyone in Israel agreed that David should be their king. They feasted and drank with David for three days, for preparations had been made by their relatives for their arrival. And people from as far away as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali brought food on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen. Vast supplies of flour, fig cakes, clusters of raisins, wine, olive oil, cattle, sheep, and goats were brought to the celebration. There was great joy throughout the land of Israel.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12:38-40‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The people of God together recognized David as their king. Significantly, David would not force his reign upon the people; he waited until they were willing to make David king over Israel.

  41. I think the biggest question I have from this chapter is, “who is in your corner?”

David knee his rightful place was king to the throne and those around him also knew so they were willing to back him up and fight for that cause. Find people in your life that are willing to stand by you and behind you to make your calling come to pass.
Find people that will constantly support you and push you to where you should be. David had people coming to him because they believed in the cause, believe in your cause so much that people want to buy into it also. You don’t have to do it all alone.

  42. 8 And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;

“. . . men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, . .” Men of might and men of war, that sounds like a big bill to fill yet these men here are mentioned to be fit for battle, that can, etc, etc. That should also be said of us saints in the church, are you build for war or fit for battle? Do you have the face of lions in spiritual battle? Are you fast as the roes in your spiritual thinking or do you dwell on other things much too long??

These “men of war” came to feast and enjoy many tasty foods for three entire days. There was joy!! It is okay to bask in a victory and celebrate after a win. God brings us through so much. He answers prayers, slays demons, and rearranges destinies, so sometimes it is okay to celebrate His doings and His great works. It sounds like us as we go and fellowship after an amazing service of breakthrough and triumphant victories.

  43. 28 And Zadok, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father’s house twenty and two captains.

Even the young are mighty and have a place in the army of the Lord! Time for young people to rise up!

  44. 33 Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: they were not of double heart.

They were all of one heart and one mind towards David, not some for him, and some favoured Saul. But all with one soul and one consent adhered to him to make David king. They were sincere and loyal to David. Because they knew David was loyal to king Saul, and was not a person of double heart.

We must be a church of one heart for Jesus. Let us grow in Him together in one mind and one heart. Let’s help each other and grow together.

  45. “Their leader was Ahiezer son of Shemaah from Gibeah; his brother Joash was second-in-command. These were the other warriors: Jeziel and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth; Beracah; Jehu from Anathoth; Ishmaiah from Gibeon, a famous warrior and leader among the Thirty; Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, and Jozabad from Gederah; Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, and Shephatiah from Haruph; Elkanah, Isshiah, Azarel, Joezer, and Jashobeam, who were Korahites; Joelah and Zebadiah, sons of Jeroham from Gedor. Some brave and experienced warriors from the tribe of Gad also defected to David while he was at the stronghold in the wilderness. They were expert with both shield and spear, as fierce as lions and as swift as deer on the mountains. Ezer was their leader. Obadiah was second. Eliab was third. Mishmannah was fourth. Jeremiah was fifth. Attai was sixth. Eliel was seventh. Johanan was eighth. Elzabad was ninth. Jeremiah was tenth. Macbannai was eleventh. These warriors from Gad were army commanders. The weakest among them could take on a hundred regular troops, and the strongest could take on a thousand! These were the men who crossed the Jordan River during its seasonal flooding at the beginning of the year and drove out all the people living in the lowlands on both the east and west banks.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭12:3-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The grace God can make us like this mighty Warriors brave, courageous, active, men who were confident in God.
The grace of God can make us brave as lions, so that, wherever we are, we can hold our own, or rather can hold our Lord’s truth, and never blush nor be ashamed to speak a good word for him at all times. He can make us quick and active too, so that we shall be like the roes upon the mountains.

  46. 1Ch 12:2  They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.

    You have two hands.
Listening to tonight’s message it made me think about our hands and how we’re to use both of them. I’m reminded that if we run out of one option we always have another. God gave us a pair of just about everything. Two hands two arms two legs two eyes two ears. They seem to work differently but both get the job done. These guys used both hands for damage they used different things but still got the job done.
