Psalm Chapter 3 – Chronological

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Often we may encounter odds that present themselves as in surmountable. The beckoning of David paints a picture of bewilderment, which we can expect to identify with in our journey through this life. However, the focal point of this Psalm is to reassure us that the Lord will protect our best interest , and it is through this relationship that we will be sustained.

  2. Psalm 3
3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set
    themselves against me round about.
8 Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

The Scriptures of faith in the Lord above in Psalm 3 reminds me
of a hurricane in the natural nothing but kayos and trouble. We look at America and the world we see turmoil. The psalmist was not moved by what he saw. He placed his trust in the lord. That is as if he was in the eye of the hurricane and the peace that is found their. Judges 7:7And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. We know the rest of the story. God gave the victory. I place no trust in what I see. I have no faith in Coved 19 and I have no faith in man who is not in Christ. I have seen turmerol. I stand not in that. I stand in this Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. Let us stand strong in our Lord Jesus Christ and not be moved. Psalm 91:1-2 ¶ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

  3. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

For the Lord is my shield, my glory, the lifter of my head, my deliverer, and the way where there seems to be no way. He is the way maker and the light in the darkness. He is my help in time of trouble and a strong tower for me to run into and be safe. He is the lily of the valley and the bright and morning star. He is the first and the last, the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. He is the author and finisher of my faith as I walk with him in all I do. He is jehovah jirer, jehovah Mossi, and he is jehovah shalom.

No matter what I call him he is God almighty and by him was everything made including me. I will continually keep his praise in my mouth, so that where ever I go, what ever I do, and who ever I come in contact with I will lift his holy name. He will keep me in the midst of the storm and in the heat of the battle. I can count on him to be my strength and my joy. Don’t be afraid of the enemy, because greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.

  4. Psalm 3

1 Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

We can explain to the world all day of how a relationship is with JESUS, But if we don’t show it in action then we fail all the day long as well. We can say we are grateful but if our actions don’t follow through then we are liars as well and maybe even crazy to the wprld.

  6. God is my shelter, my strength, help in weakness and my go-to for all my situations and issues. When I fall God will pick me up and push me onward towards my next opportunity. We dont have problems when we live for God we have opportunities.

  7. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

David points out his distress in this psalm, his son has just turned the people against him after he opened up his arms and welcomed him back into the city and at the same time he gives glory to God that he is still sustained. He understands that he’s the only two layers head down at night and awaken and it is the Lord that keeps him going. He refuses to back down from the people that have turned against him and knows that it is only the Lord that will keep him going. This is why I relate to David More than any other character in the Bible, people plot against him and he still does his best not to retaliate but just to rely on the Lord

  8. Verses 3-4 MSG “But you, God, shield me on all sides; You ground my feet, you lift my head high; With all my might I shout up to God, His answers thunder from the holy mountain.” We must remember to just keep our heads up, eyes up and focused on Jesus for Isaiah 52:12 NLT says “You will not leave in a hurry, running for your lives. For the Lord will go ahead of you; yes, the God of Israel will protect you from behind.”

  9. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

My sweet precious Lord. You are the Lifter of my head. I worship You, my Holy Lord. You are my God.

  10. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

When People were turning against David God was his shield, his glory and the lifter of his head. He cried out to the Lord and was heard. Whatever situation we get ourselves in, God is greater than the situation. Trust in Him. Call on His name always. For He is the Lord God Almighty!!

  11. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

There will always be doubters and haters but like verse 6 says, do not fear! People will always test you, push your buttons, and look for the flaws – but remember how loving and gracious your God is! God is our shield and He is thebone who lifts our heads! Thank You Jesus!

  12. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
Psalms 3:1 KJV  A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

David is running for his life and still manages to write a new song unto the Lord. This shows the true heart of David. He could have been mad, angry, and bitter but he was none of the above. David was a repented man and as he was escaping his very own son wrote this Psalm/Prayer to God. Even though we understand the words of the Psalms, we dont know the music and notes to the Psalms. It would be so cool if we could hear these Psalms put to music as they were originally sung.

  13. “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.”
    Psalms 3:6 KJV

People of God don’t give in to fear. For God does not let his people come this far to be overcome by fears. But God has given us power, love and of a sound mind. Let the power of the Holy Ghost begin to remove some junk out of our life. Let God’s prefect love cast out all fears in your life. Instead lift up a praise to God for his goodness. For God is for us who can stand against us! We are going to make it to the other side and greater things are coming. Glory to God!

  15. Ps. 3 : 5-6 [ amp] I lay down and slept; I wakened again, for the Lord sustains me.
[6] I will not be afraid of ten thousand of people who have set themselves against me round about.
Ps. 118: 6 [ amp] The Lord is on my side ; I will not fear.
It’s better to put your trust in the Lord than man.
For the is my stronghold, my strength, my protector and provider.
I will confess, praise and give praise.
Lift him and thank him for he is so good to us.
The Lord is so precious to me.
His mercy and love indures forever.

  16. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    THINGS ARE LOOKING UP

3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

The power of Prayer is to invoke, invite and include the LORD in all areas of our life. In the psalmists time of trouble he cried unto the LORD with his voice, not his tears, not his hands, not his feet, but his VOICE.

When King David lifted up his VOICE the LORD heard him. There are many occasions that we will benefit from the LORD by the lifting of our VOICE. This lifting causes an action and reaction from GOD. JESUS then becomes our SHIELD, GLORY and the LIFTER of our head.

We have previously learned that the SUPERNATURAL is activated when we LOOK UP. I encourage you today by these prophetic words.

    THINGS ARE LOOKING UP!

    iGive

  17. 5 I lay down and slept [safely];
I awakened, for the Lord sustains me.

We have confidence in the night season that the Lord is with us and will sustain us.

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

  18. David lifted his voice to God and prayed to Him. He knew calling on our Lord was what he needed to do. David loved our Lord and He knew He is our strength and refuge. In good we bad times always call on our Lord. Be close to Him and your life will be fulfilled. Thank you Jesus for this day!

  19. 4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

8 Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

David the king when he fled to Mount Olivet I was unsure why exactly he fled and didn’t just stay and fight. After a fellow laborer assured me that David was not scared but he fled to save himself and the people from being in a civil war. I like this, he separated himself and the others so there wouldn’t be war with Jerusalem against Jerusalem he kept them safe by going to the “holy hill” where he felt he could connect with God most. Instead of staying and fighting he and the people went to the Lord to give them their battle. God protects them and later we see that every need was provided for these men and women of God.

  20. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head

David found what God is to his people in times of trouble, 1. Safety; a shield for me; which denotes the advantage of that protection. 2. Honour; those whom God owns for his, have true honour put upon them. 3. Joy and deliverance. If, in the worst of times, God’s people can lift up their heads with joy, knowing that all shall work for good to them, they will own God as giving them both cause and hearts to rejoice, because, we must remember that, VICTORY BELONGS TO JESUS, HE IS OUR LIFTER UP OF OUR HEAD.

  21. Psalms 3
    Alarmed But Armed

7.Up, God! My God, help me!
    Slap their faces,
First this cheek, then the other,
Your fist hard in their teeth!
8 Real help comes from God.
    Your blessing clothes your people!

What a mighty God we serve He is there the minute we call Him! This passage of scripture read in the message translation reminds so much of my nephews. Up Jackson Up Devon I have reason for alarm. Here they come treading on to the rescue in the middle of the night. Where are they ? I’m ready and both with a plan of defeat for what they might face. Just listening to the scheme of protection gave me an assurance I had no worries . Well maybe just a smidgen. But this is just how our God is. He is there to ward off the enemy . All we have to do is calm out to Him . Thankfully the Word says he never slumbers nor sleeps and He doesn’t put His phone on Do not disturb ! David is once again needing help and He knows assuredly where his help comes from .
Thank you God for always being right there . And thank you my nephews for coming to my rescue . With assurance and strength God will fight the enemy off. We must proclaim His promises boldly.

    Psalms 7:1
1 O Lord, my God, I come to you for protection; rescue me and save me from all who pursue me

  22. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

But God! With God we have a way maker, a promise keeper, the calm in the middle of a storm. We reach out to him and he does hear our cry. This is a sure promise to us in his word. Lift up the needs for others-because he knows what we have need of already. I bless the Lord today for his promises!

  23. Psalms 3:1-6 (NLT)
    1) O LORD, I have so many enemies; so many are against me.
    2) So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” Selah.
    3) But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
    4) I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. Selah.
    5) I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me.
    6) I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.

It doesn’t matter how many enemies you have. It doesn’t matter how many are against you. It doesn’t matter what they are saying. WHEN YOU KNOW that God is your Shield (Protector and Defender), your Glory, and the One who holds your head high; and WHEN YOU KNOW that God hears you when you cry out to Him; and WHEN YOU KNOW that you can lay down and sleep peacefully because God is watching over you, then You Don’t Have To Be Afraid.

Psalms 56:11 says, “In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.”
Psalms 118:6 says, “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?”
Hebrews 13:5b-6 says, “:… for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The LORD is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Thank You JESUS! YOU are a Great and Mighty God!!

  24. I laid me down and sleep for I knew that the Lord had sustained me.
    —-
That’s right. My heart is still pumping
I can breath, I am in my right mind..
    The Lord is good!!!
    Soooo merciful.

  25. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

Jesus, each and every day you bring new life to me. You continue to bring me through challenges and bring understanding to my faults. Lord you uplift my spirits and calm the chaos. Jesus you called me out of the dark and set me in the brightest of places. Your comfort reached me in my depths of depression and cast out all my fears and anxieties. You gave me hope where there was none left and changed my outlook on life. Lord, you have showed me the wonders of your love and the freedom with in it. Thank you Jesus!

  26. 3But you, O LORD, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.

You have the Holy Spirit, walk with your head up high. Be proud that your a follower of God. Don’t let others shame you about God. Walk with confidence, for God is within you.

  27. Thank you Jesus for today , allow him give him the Glory through the fire and tribulation

Arise, O Lord ! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked! Victory comes from you, O Lord . May you bless your people. Interlude
    Psalms 3:7‭-‬8

  28. “Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭3:1-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Even in the hard times and a season full of pressure we can see David’s faith and trust in God. He takes no credit for his accomplishments. He credits God in everything even the simple task of waking up each morning. It gives a picture of God being vine and David the branch. God is his source of life, strength and protection.

  29. 4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

To be able to sleep at night is a great thing. To know that you have peace to close your eyes and trust in tomorrow. Perhaps you may not know what tomorrow may hold, but you can trust in One that holds tomorrow. To know that when you can cry out to him, when you call on him, He will answer.

  30. Psalms 3:3
    But you, O  lord, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.

    Protector Song by Kim Walker-Smith

    I come out of agreement
With the lie that You have left me on my own
    I am not alone
    I come out of agreement
With the worry and the fear I’ve come to know
No, they won’t have a hold on me

    Protector
You never, never, never let me go
You said You wouldn’t leave me, and You won’t
    You’re right by my side
    Protector

    I come into agreement
With the truth that You are who You say You are
    I can trust Your heart
    I come into agreement
With what Heaven has declared over my life
‘Cause I know that You fight for me

    Protector
You never, never, never let me go
You said You wouldn’t leave me, and You won’t
    You’re right by my side
    Protector
You hide me in the shadow of Your wings
Your presence is my peace, my covering
    My song in the night
    Protector, ooh-ooh

No weapon, no worry will prosper against me
No darkness, no evil will tease or torment me

Let that faith rise up in us tonight, as
Fear is broken up, as fear falls away
    As worry is silenced
At the sound of Your name tonight, Jesus
    Oh, oh, oh

No weapon, no worry will prosper against me

  31. “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I will not be afraid of those who choose to persecute the church or discredit the Word of God. He is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer! I thank God He has given us the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. I pray we proclaim Jesus name wherever we go, never ashamed or afraid to tell others about Him

  32. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

For God will always be a shield for his children whenever the enemies comes in like a flood and tries to destroy them, but whenever we feel alone upon life’s battlefield and God step in the enemy when no longer have a hold on us.

  33. 4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

What a blessed peace knowing that I can call His name, no matter the day or hour; and know with assurity that He will answer our need!! No other savior but Him, I know!!!

  34. “I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me.”(Psalms‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭NLT‬)

We can assure that while we sleep through the night our Lord is watching over us and his peace is with us. There’s no need to lose sleep over anything that has happen to us through our day.

  35. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

It does not matter how many enemies come against us they will not prosper. God is our sustainer and lifted of our head. Man may fail us but God never will. The Psalmist felt as though his enemies were surrounding him physically but spiritually he was surrounded by the heavenly host of Gods army. No weapon shall prosper for greater is He that lives in us than he that is in the world. We can only be defeated if we allow fear to paralyze us. If we cry out to God he will protect us.

  36. In this chapter it was talking about how that God is the creator and ruler over everything. We should bring out troubles to him for him to deal with them. Trust in God!

  37. In this chapter it was talking about how that God is the creator and ruler over everything. We should bring out troubles to him for him to deal with them. Trust in God!

  38. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

God is always with us helping us fight our battles and enemies for he will never leave our side. We should not be afraid or we shouldn’t let fear guide our minds we must not give in to fear, anxiety, or weakness. Because God gave us a mind set of strength, wisdom, faith, and peace. Let your life be guided by the Lord, for he will protect you from the enemies and will never let you give in. Let us not be ashamed for what we believe in for he is our true savior, let us spread the peace and joy of the Lord.

  39. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

We should have the peace that no matter what storm we are facing we know that he will be there to help and we won’t have to fear anything.

  40. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

We should have the peace that no matter what storm we are facing we know that he will be there to help and we won’t have to fear anything.

  41. “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God is the creator of all things. We have no reason to fear. We just have to put our trust in him. It doesn’t matter who is talking about us or what comes our way. As long as we got Jesus we don’t need nobody else. Let them talk let them criticize.

  42. I learned that Jesus was listening to this man then he went to sleep then he woke up then Jesus was talking to him. So if you talk to Jesus he will always listen to you.

  43. 3 But you, Lord, are a shield(C) around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.(D)

Amen! Thank you Lord!! No matter what comes at me you are my SHIELD!! My rock, my protector, my guidance, my provider, and everything else. Thank you Jesus for everything you have given me!

  44. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

No matter what the world the enemy says or throws at you just trust and cry out to the Lord and he will deliver you.
When we look to him the problems and troubles seem to go away. Yes they my still be there and we have to go through the storms but he is there with us walking with us.
Remember to always cry out to the Lord and see what happens

  45. 7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

8 Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

David knows he’s surrounded by enemies but he doesn’t give up on God or his faith.
He cries to God for deliverance because he trusts in him. He can rest knowing that God is his shield and will bless him in overcoming this battles.

  46. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

God will look out for his people. As long as we abide by his word, God will make sure we’re taken care of. Don’t be deceived by the evil devices of this world. There is only one true God and his name is Jesus. People will try to take you down, but through God we are more than conquerors. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

  47. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

We often talk about how much we need our spouse, family, or friends. Yet the reality is we need God more. He is the one that holds us together. He binds us in love, shields us, and lifts us when needed the most.

  48. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

Our God is a shield and a protection. As we cry out to Him and He is that protection. He will hhand it over and keep us from heard.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

  49. 3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
There’s no better shield than God’s. As we face this world, many may be against you. But we are covered under the shield of the Lord. We have victory! Thank you God for you divine shield, because of it we can face all that comes our way with our heads lifted high. Praise God!

  50. “But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain. Interlude”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭3:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
God was more than David’s protection. He also was the one who put David on higher ground, lifting his head and showing him glory. There was nothing glorious or head-lifting in David’s circumstances, but there was in our God.

  51. The unspoken prayer

4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

I see a lot on social media that folks are asking for an unspoken prayer request. This never made any since to me. We are telling God to help but we are not telling him what with. It’s like a baby crying but they can’t talk. The parent has to try and figure out what’s going on. When our kids were that small I told Nicole hat I wish they could just tell me what’s going on. If we really want something from God it has to be important enough to speak it. If we would just speak it the promise would be that he hears it.
