Psalm 38

O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.

There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.

I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.

10 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.

11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.

12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.

13 But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.

14 Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

15 For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

16 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.

18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.

21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.

22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

  1. Verses 13-16 MSG “But I’m deaf and mute to it all, ears shut, mouth shut. I don’t hear a word they say, don’t speak a word in response. What I do, God, is wait for you, wait for my Lord, my God—you will answer! I wait and pray so they won’t laugh me off, won’t smugly strut off when I stumble.” In the NLT version a portion of verse 14 says “I choose to…”, meaning it’s your choice how we respond. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 tells us there is a time for everything. Verse 3:7 NLT says “A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.” Sometimes we just need to keep quiet and wait upon the Lord as Psalm 37:7 NLT says “Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.” We just need to keep digging and do our part…..I choose to keep digging!

  2. 19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

No matter how lively, how strong, or how many your enemies are, those that are for you are livelier, stronger, and more!
    Be encouraged in Jesus Name!

    2 Kings 6:
16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

  3. Ps. 38:18 [ amp] For I do confess my guilt and iniquity; I am filled with sorrow for my sin.
2 Cor. 7:9-10 amp [ Yes] and not only by his coming but also by [ his account of] the comfort with which he was encouraged and refreshed and cheered as to you, while he told us of your affection, of how sorry you were [ for me] and how eagerly you took my part, so that I rejoiced still more.
For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret, But worldly greif ( the hopeless sorrow that is characteristic of the pagan world) is deadly [ breeding and ending in death].
Folks it’s better to come back to God and repent for your sins and be baptize in Jesus name.
It’s a great feeling and refreshing from Jesus!
    The Holy Ghost!
For I will repent everyday of my life and feel better in Jesus name.

  4. 21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.

22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

Repentance cleanses us!!! Repentance lifts the heavy burden of sin. Repentance is our way of seeking God forgiveness and Jesus is Merciful to forgive!!! JESUS IS HOPE!!! He said He will never leave us nor forsake us and always give us a way to escape!!!! Repentance is our only way to reunite with God. Thank you Jesus for forgiving our sins!!

  5. Psalm 38

1 O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.

3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

  6. 11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.

12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.

This psalm is dedicated to the sins of David’s life and all the problems that have hunted him. We find that many times in David’s life we see him have many victories but there is also many times that he would fail because of the sin in his life. I have found that many times when you want to find out who your friends are, just mess up and need their help. You will find that more times than not you will find you will be alone and no one to help. That is how much of this world is, they will be there through the good times but will not be found through the bad.

We must not forget the one who will walk with us through it all and be the one who sticks closer than a brother. His name is Jesus. We have to make sure that we place our trust in him and that we allow him to guide and direct our paths through everything. David knee that God would be with him once he found the way to get back to him after his mess. Never forget where God has brought you from, because it may be the only thing to give you the courage to keep going on.

  7. 21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.

    Hebrews 13:5
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Although THE WORD OF GOD says that we will not be forsaken, it doesn’t mean that we won’t feel forsaken especially when we fail or fall. If we would stand BACK UP on THE WORD OF GOD and be filled with the HOLY GHOST, (everyday not only when we need HIM but everyday) then we DO have the power to overcome as OUR GOD gives us the POWER!!! THERE IS NO LIMIT TO HOW MUCH HOLY GHOST WE HAVE OR GET….

  8. Thank you Jesus for today , thy kingdom come thy will be done . Hallelujah you are great O God

Do not abandon me, O Lord . Do not stand at a distance, my God. Come quickly to help me, O Lord my savior.
    Psalms 38:21‭-‬22

  9. Lord my saviour my heavenly father please dont leave me or forget about me. You have been my strong tower my rest in times of turmoil. Thank you Lord for all your help and forgive me of my shortcomings .

  10. 21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.
22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

You can almost hear a humanity in David’s words, he knows that God’s not going to forsake Him and He knows that God isn’t letting go of his salvation but he’s a broken Man who’s dealing with failure and condemnation. The Bible tells us that God is attracted to a broken and contrite heart. it’s when we are vulnerable and completely open to God that God hears our cries and has Mercy on us

  11. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

I’m sure we have all felt this way before and can all testify that we have gone through these kinds of feelings. In verse 5, David confesses he has been foolish. My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. David never allows himself to stay in despair however, he comes back with 15 For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

No matter what we are going through and no matter how we feel, we must believe that God is going to bring us back into fellowship with him.

  12. 10 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.

David is in a very distressed place in his life. His mind is racing, he feels powerless, and most disturbing he feels he is wondering in the dark unsure of where to go and what to do.

Let’s be real! We have all been there at some point. Some of us even as recent as this year. Davids sin brought him to this feeling but sometimes life can bring us to this point of utter kaios inside ourselves.

It is what we do in those moments that will either cause us to advance, be stagnant, or slide back. David’s choice was to repent before God. It’s a very sorrowful moment in his mind.

Sin can bring lives to a very dark place but thanks be to God that He is rich in mercy. He is loving and He will give us what we need when we need it

  13. 17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.

    Romans 8:31
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

What would we do without the never failing have of God? He is always there to forgive us… He chastises us in our wrong doings because He loves us and paid the ultimate price so that we can come before Him personally! If not for His sacrifice, we could not have a personal, one-on-one relationship with Him! Lord, may I never forget the sacrifice of the shedding of your blood so that I can I eternal life!

  14. 7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.
We all have our days numbered and as we age we are reminded of this fact.

  15. 21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.
22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation

When we sin, we have an advocate, even Jesus, who will hear our cry of repentance. He is willing and able to deliver us from our own mistakes and sin. Repentance is turning away from those things-doing a 180 degree turn. And remember, we must forgive others of the wrong they have done to us. I’m thankful for you made a way for us for our wrong choices!

  16. 38:14 ERV. I am like those who can not hear
What people is saying about them
I can not answer to prove my enemies wrong.

    —-

When we sin and God’s Holy Spirit convicts us of that, it’s better to make it right, right away.
If we want to serve the lord, do his will
And advance the kingdom, we must ignore the nay Sayers.
We can not afford to listen and pay attention
to the negativity, we must look up, we have a mission to accomplish and we are the ones God chose to do it.
    [in his mercy, yes.]
    🙏

  17. “For I am waiting for you, O Lord. You must answer for me, O Lord my God. I prayed, “Don’t let my enemies gloat over me or rejoice at my downfall.””
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭38:15-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬
David chose to allow his affliction to press him towards God instead of away from the God who was his only hope.

  18. 20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.
21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.
22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

No matter what the Lord is your salvation

  19. 9 Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.
10 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.

Sometimes God allows trials and tribulation to come into our lives that we may be stronger in him to lean upon him.

  20. 15 For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

My hope is in You Lord because greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world! Enemies may try to come against me but I know I’m faithful, you will continueto keep me and lead me!

  21. Psalm Chapter 38
21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.
22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

As we read this Psalm we see a picture of sorrow and pain coming from David. His thoughts are troublesome. Yet he goes to the source of his relief. He declares the God is his salvation. When we are in such a way we should follow his example. For Jesus is our source for life, power and forgiveness. I rejoice in him in the good times and bad. In all areas He is my rock and salvation.

  22. “For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭38:15, 21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Despite the enemy coming against David, he never lost his focus on his LORD and savior. Due trying times it is important to shut out the voice of the attack from ‘Lucy!’
I thank the LORD Jesus for giving me a sound mind through every battle. I continue to trust in Him alone and nothing else.
    Hallelujah 🙌🙌

“We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions. Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭20:5-7‬ ‭KJV

  23. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    KALEIDOSCOPE OF HOPE

15 For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

The psalmist identifies and kaleidoscope of challenges in this chapter. His own concerns have caused his physical decay. But there is always the GOD Factor. When he is our LORD: the one we love, serve and worship. We then have this promise.

In thee, O Lord JESUS, do I HOPE: YOU will hear me, O Lord my GOD.

Our HOPE lies in the fact of our Lord JESUS hears us when we pray. It is the job of the adversary to discourage or diminish our confidence in this fact. However my FAITH says that JESUS hears me when I pray, cry or call on HIM.

The real question is “Do I call on HIM or Complain to HIM”.

Call and HE will HEAR and will answer.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iLive
    iReap
    iGo

  24. Psalms 38:15, “For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.”
Psalms 38:18, “For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.”

David felt weighed down and burdened (as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me) by his sin (vs.3), by his iniquities (vs.4), and by his foolishness (vs. 5). BUT then he remember to HOPE in God. He was ready to declare (confess) his iniquities and be sorry (repent) of his sins.

Today, when we may feel weighted down or burdened by sin in our life, we too must remember to put our HOPE in God and Repent. We need to remember that “If we Confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9).

Thank You JESUS that our HOPE is in YOU today!
    Thank You JESUS for Repentance
Thank You JESUS for Your Forgiveness
Thank You JESUS that You Cleanse us
    Thank You JESUS for Everything!!!!!!!

  25. 16 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

Unfortunately there are those people waiting in the wings with bated breath just watching and waiting for some people to fall so they can say “I told you so,” or “I knew you couldn’t do it.”

We must step away from this type mentality. #1 don’t be a voice like that. Don’t be that person rejoicing when someone makes a mistake.

#2 Don’t listen or be intimidated by people like this. Listen to God, get your direction, wisdom, knowledge from God and His word. If He says You can do it, you can do it and if you fall, get up and try again.

Encourage those that are weak and have fallen. Be the inspiration someone needs to get back up. You may stand alone in this, but you will be standing on the Lord’s side.

  26. David is full of sadness and sorrow in Psalm 38. Many people in today’s society are having grievous times. But as David knows: “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10 David went to GOD as he knew how our LORD can help him, as JESUS can help the many who are lost today. My prayer today is for the lost to come to our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Thank you God for this day.

  27. 21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.

22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my

David’s troubles were the chastisement and the consequence of his transgressions, but his faith was in the Lord. We must never get our eyes away from Jesus. He will rescue us.

  28. 2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.

Sometimes we have to be like the clay in the hands of the master and allow him to break us and mold us into what he desires us to be instead of us trying to make ourselves into what we want to be, we should always be willing to be obedient to his will instead of our will.

  29. 18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

We must be willing to confuse our mess up and sins toz God before he will help.
God is here and willing to forgive and help if only we will confess we need him.

  30. 3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

If you have ever been around a habitual liar you could testify that their lying is exhausting to the point that you don’t know how they keep up with it all. This is with everyone who is loving a lifestyle of sin, they are worn out by it so far as they don’t even remember what’s right anymore. There is no rest when you have to defend yourself all the time. Those who truly do right can rest in the fact that they don’t have to defend themselves or what they said. There is peace in the truth.

  31. “My wounds fester and stink because of my foolish sins. I am bent over and racked with pain. All day long I walk around filled with grief. A raging fever burns within me, and my health is broken. I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from an anguished heart.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭38:5-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/psa.38.5-8.nlt

Don’t let the sin ruin your walk with God. Don’t let the devil win, by repenting for your sins, because no one is not perfect one day you will fall, and it will bet up to you to fall more or get up keep on looking up to our Lord.

  32. 10 My heart beats wildly, my strength fails, and I am going blind.
17 I am on the verge of collapse, facing constant pain. 18 But I confess my sins; I am deeply sorry for what I have done.
    Psalms 38:10 and 17-18 NLT

Our sins will always make us feel weak, the enemy will try to win the battle, but you have to remember that the Lord always forgives no matter what, it’s better to confess and ask the Lord for forgiveness then let the enemy win, to let them make you feel weak, it’s not worth it.Keeps your eyes up always remember the Lord is the winning side and he will help you, protect and forgive you no matter what. Have faith and hope in the Lord no matter what.

  33. “But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied. They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.”
    Psalms 38:19-20 KJV

It doesn’t matter what our enemies and what the world thinks of us. We’re going to keep living and giving Jesus. There’s no evil that can stop us, for we are standing on the promises of God, that are yea and amen. If God is for us who can stand against us. Let’s keep walking in faith knowing that God is able to do all things. We’re going to keep trusting God.

  34. “For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭38:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We choose to have hope in Jesus! It doesnt come naturally sometimes. Sometimes it is hard work but remember the words of David- Thou wilt hear, O Lord my God! I thank you Jesus for hearing me! I pray we continue to have hope in Him

  35. 19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.

Our adversaries are many and surround us daily. They are strong, lively, hateful and live off our failures. Through it all we must always follow the truth and what is good. God will not forsake us, He sees it all and will come to our defense. Don’t give up brethren! Yes… many are our adversaries but greater is He who is with us!! Keep moving forward to the end of the race.

  36. 21 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me.
22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

God will not leave you behind. He will help you when you need it. God is good all the time.

    -Jacob Hernandez

  37. 0 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.

Even the good fall. Actually, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Ro3:23). The Psalmist is in distress for the realization and reality of what his sin has caused. His message doesn’t stop in drowning in his woes but cries out to God. He recognized that his sin has separated him from the glory of God and prey to the enemy. He ends with saying (paraphrasing) that those who live for evil are coming against him because he follows what is good. This is an example of how we should handle our iniquity (self will).

Turn to God with a sincere heart of repentance. When we sin it also separates us from God. Correcting course may take some mocking from our enemies but remember the wicked are also Jesus’ enemy. The last thing we want to be is in enmity with Jesus. The Lord is waiting for us to return with open arms if we repent. Thank you Jesus, for answering when we call and forgiving our sin when we don’t deserve your goodness!

  38. 16 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

Bonus: This is a great encouragement; when the enemy comes in like a flood. God sets up a standard against it. The enemy wants to discourage us from turning to God. Those who know Him stand firm by knowing that he will call when we cry out to him.

Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. (Micah 7:8) one of my favorites! Just because I got knocked down, don’t mean I won’t get back up! The come back is greater than the set back!

  39. 12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.

13 But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.

14 Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

15 For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

It is better to let them that speak evil against you just do it and not fall into their actions and accusations. God sees all things. He is the just judge. He see our reactions. We are be dead to the flesh and as the word says
Great peace have they that love thy law and nothing shall offend them. The revenge is the Lord’s. If you are righteous continue being righteous. He will see to it and will take care of you.

  40. “For in You, O LORD, I hope; You will answer, O Lord my God.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭38:15‬ ‭AMP‬‬

There’s no other place I’d rather put my trust in. It is only in the Lord. He has heard my deepest cries. And has never failed me!

  41. 16 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.

18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

I find the more and more I grow in Christ, the more the world has to offer. Seems like its almost trying harder to get my attention. The temptations of the world are multiplied and wait for me to slip up. But my relationship with God will keep me from falling on rocky ground. His love and strength that pulls me back up again. The truth of his word that will keep me grounded and the faith that gives me hope that everything will be OK even if it isn’t.

  42. “For my iniquities have gone over my head [like the waves of a flood]; As a heavy burden they weigh too much for me. My wounds are loathsome and foul Because of my foolishness.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭38:4-5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We all strive to be Christ-like, we do our best to make sure it’s Him people see when they look at us, but at the end of the day we are all human. We all make mistakes, some more than others, but regardless sin is sin. However, through repentance we get a chance to start over time and time again. There’s no need to hang on to sin, no need to remember what you did, or shackle the guilt to your feet. When we repent God doesn’t hold our sins against us, so why should we?

Be like Elsa and “let it go!” 😂😂

  43. But I am deaf to all their threats. I am silent before them as one who cannot speak. I choose to hear nothing, and I make no reply. For I am waiting for you, O Lord . You must answer for me, O Lord my God.
    Psalms 38:13‭-‬15 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/psa.38.13-15.NLT

When the voices and opinions flood in it’s best to not even acknowledge and just lean on the love and comfort of God. The Lord will answer for us.

  44. 12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.

You will always have those in your life that gossip and twist the truth or even make up stories and lies to embellish the words against you. Just know that people have always had issues with this. We just have to push out those options and gossip and move on better than before.

  45. 13 But I am deaf to all their threats. I am silent before them as one who cannot speak.

Don’t listen to the enemy, for he will try to deceive you. Learn how to block out that little voice that tells you to commit that small sin. But speak out against the enemy, against temptation, and speak the name of Jesus. The enemy will then flee.

  46. Psa 38:12  They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
Psa 38:13  But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
You will always have an adversary sometimes more does than friends but that’s okay.
Bible says to love thy neighbor such as you would love yourself. The biblical principle is this treat others how you feel you should be treated. People don’t even realize they’re doing it. But hold a conversation with someone for 5 mins and show interest in what they’re saying and they will reveal to you what they think they deserve.
So when you seek first the Kingdom it’s probably stirring them up.
