1 Chronicles 21

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.

And Joab answered, The Lord make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.

But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.

And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.

And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

And the Lord spake unto Gad, David’s seer, saying,

10 Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

11 So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Choose thee

12 Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the Lord, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the Lorddestroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

13 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the Lord; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.

14 So the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.

15 And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

17 And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O Lord my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

18 Then the angel of the Lordcommanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the Lord in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

19 And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the Lord.

20 And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

21 And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

22 Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the Lord: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.

23 And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

24 And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

25 So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.

26 And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

27 And the Lord commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.

28 At that time when David saw that the Lord had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.

29 For the tabernacle of the Lord, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon.

30 But David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the Lord.

  1. 13 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the Lord; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.

Although David … sinned greatly, he was quick to confess and humble himself before the Lord. When given a choice as to the penalty of his wrongdoing, he chose to fall into the hand of the Lord because he knew that He is merciful.

  2. Verse 1 CEV “Satan decided to cause trouble for Israel by making David think it was a good idea to find out how many people there were in Israel and Judah.” Other versions say that satan moved, seduced, encouraged, caused or incited David into taking this census. We must be very careful and alert to the devices of satan as he tries to make us think, believe or wonder if the grass is greener on the other side. 1 Peter 5:8 AMP says “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.”.

  3. 1 Chron.21: 17 [ amp] And David said ti God , Is it not I commanded the people to be numbered? It is O who has sinned and done evil indeed; But as for these sheep, what have they done? Let your hand ,
I pray You, O Lord my God, be on me and on my father’s house, But not on Your people, that they should be plagued.
We all make mistakes in our lives!
Be responsible for your own mistakes!
    Repent and take of it.
    In Jesus name.

  4. 1 Chronicles 21

1 And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

2 And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.

3 And Joab answered, The Lord make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

4 Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

5 And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.

  5. 26 And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

When we build an altar and repent of our sins, the Fire can again fall and operate in our lives.

  6. And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But just as the angel was preparing to destroy it, the Lord relented and said to the death angel, “Stop! That is enough!” At that moment the angel of the Lord was standing by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

The Lord God has all power in his hand. I think we forget what the Lord can do at times. Why does severe situations need to arise for us to be reminded of the power of the Hand of God?

  7. 26 And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

When we mess up, the best thing to do is to come before the Lord and repair our altar. Do what we know to do and that’s to worship the King of kings.

  8. 23 And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

I GIVE IT ALL…….JESUS WHO GAVE IT ALL!!! THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT LEADERSHIP YOU HAVE BLESSED US WITH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! ALLOW US ALL, TO GIVE IT ALL!!! BLESS OUR LEADERSHIP LORD!!! IN JESUS NAME!!! AMEN!!!

  9. 7 And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.
8 And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

David answered for the sin that Satan provoked him to do. Just like in the garden, we are responsible for our actions not for our temptations. The sins that we commit are no faults but our own, thanks be to God that has merciful hands other than his wrath. As soon as David realized what he had done he immediately asked God for forgiveness and chose to fall into the hands of a merciful God then into the hands of man. There is no “devil made me do it” the choices we make are because of us, whether we are influenced or tempted, we are responsible for the actions that we take. That is the upside and downside to the Free Will that God gave us

  10. 2 And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it. And he said be a ruler unto his people

  11. 1 Chronicles 21;11-13
    11) So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee
    12) Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
    13) And David said unto Gad, I am in a great stait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.

Hebrews 10:31 says, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
David chose to fall into the hands of the LORD, and not into the hand of man. He knew if he fell into the hand of man and chose 3 months of the sword of his enemies to overtake them, they would not show mercy to them, but if he fell into the hands of the LORD, he knew the LORD would show MERCY to them.
David knew that with the LORD there was MERCY. (PS. 130:7)
David trusted in the MERCY of God. (PS. 52:8)
David knew the LORD was MERCIFUL and Gracious. (PS.103:8)
David knew that the LORD was plenteous in MERCY. (PS. 86:5)
David knew that the MERCY of the LORD endureth for ever. (PS. 106:1)
David knew that the LORD’S MERCY is everlasting. (PS. 100:5)
David wanted to fall into the hand of the LORD so that he could fall upon the MERCY of the LORD.

So Thankful for the MERCY that God has shown to me so many times in my life.
Thank You JESUS for Your MERCY!

1 And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

Did y’all who read yesterday’s blog catch this statement? If you remember, yesterday’s blog in 2Sa 24:1 says, “And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.”

So the question is, Who provoked David to number Israel? Was it God or satan? A quick answer to a complex question is God allows the enemy access when you open the door.

  13. Thank you Jesus Christ for today, remember to keep adding fuel to the fire/ altar everywhere you go . Keep adding Jesús to your day everywhere you go . What’s greater your sin or his mercy, your flesh or his grace, his love or your rebellion??

    LEADERSHIP

17 And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O Lord my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

Leadership has its benefits and privileges, but Leadership also has it burdens and pains. We learn Leadership from King David here. He sees the pain of the people for because of his action and carnality, then asks the LORD to allow him to be responsible for his own wrong doing and not others.

Leadership is responsible and accountable in the good times and the bad. David recognizes his error and takes responsibility for it. I pray as JESUS calls GODLY Leaders to serve HIS Kingdom that we will also be responsible for our own actions and not lay the pain and judgment of our sins on others.

  15. 8 And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

The foolish things that humanity will do when provoked. David instantly knew that he had committed a foolish thing by numbering Israel. He also admitted his wrong doing to God and he was willing to accept the consequences of his actions. So many times we get caught up in our action that we want to blame others for our decision making. But David was willing to accept the punishment of God.

While the pestilence and the angel of God was doing what he had been commanded, David fell on his face to seek the mercy of God and while this was happening, God told the angel enough is enough. Then David sacrificed to God. I believe that we have to be willing to submit our selves to God even when we do wrong, and seek his mercy. Humility and obedience is the best way to get the attention of God. It’s time the church get on their faces and seek God and let him begin to heal our land.

  16. 24 And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

A lot of us should learn from David. I wish I could make others understand that we should give unto God with JOY but also with sacrifice. What do I mean? It should hurt us a little when we give. It is not the same when we give our tithe because that was not ours to begin with, that belongs to the Lord and we are just returning it, the offering is what I wish we could understand that we should give NOT WHATS LEFT, or what is comfortable but it should hurt, give the money you would of spent on pizza out with your friend, or the money that you use to go bowling with after work, or just the new clothes shopping money, whatever it may be that you enjoy doing every week add that to your offering, do without that recreational part for that week, make it hurt. This is what hurts me the most and something that I wish I could show and teach. But I know that my GOD IS GREAT and that REVELATION will also come with time. Until then LETS GIVE JESUS!! LETS GIVE UNTIL IT HURT! MAKE IT A SACRIFICE UNTIL OUR GOD BURNING THE FLESH!!! In Jesus Name Amen

  17. 24 And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

David refused to offer burnt offering that would cost him nothing. David understood the importance of sacrifice. It is my daily duty to make sure that I am not doing things and giving worship to God out of convince but out of whole hearted sacrifice. The Lord sees all and knows all and He is worthy of true sacrificial praise.

  18. In this chapter Joab went all over Israel and Jerusalem to gather men for their troops. When Joab went to get people for troops he did not include Levi and Benjamin. This was evil in God’s eyes so he punished all of Israel. The punishment was a plague over Israel.

  19. In this chapter I learned that the king of Israel sent David and the Army out and the king said come back and give a report.

  20. “David said to God, “I ordered the fighting men to be counted. I’m the one who has sinned. I’m the one who has done what is wrong. These people are like sheep. What have they done? Lord my God, let your powerful hand punish me and my family. But don’t let this plague continue to strike your people.””
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭21:17‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Lord, renew in us a heart of the shepherd. That we would be reminded that everything rises and falls on leadership. The decision of one leader affects all who are under their leadership. The decision of a leader brings A curse or a blessing to the group. I pray We have a heart of a good shepherd to lead and grow our new disciples.

  21. 13 “I’m in a desperate situation!” David replied to Gad. “But let me fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is very great. Do not let me fall into human hands.”

There are various reasons why we can be in a state of desperation. Financial, emotionally, or even physically. Some brought upon ourselves, and others by just living life. However, I can appreciate and admire David for knowing the fact, that a bad day with God upset with you is still better than a moment without Him.

I think in times of desperation it is easy to blame God for the mishaps, regardless if they are self-inflicted. Yet, David kept his faith and hope in the Lord, again stating he would rather be in the hands of God.

2020 has faced each of us with desperate situations, and we must keep the faith in God. Faith in His Word. That we too will stand and proclaim, to fall in His hands, instead of the hands of the world.

  22. Repenting immediately is best. Because you knew what you were doing and not asking forgiveness quickly kinda looks like you are enjoying the aftermath of the sin

  23. 24 And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

When we give, we give of our own substance, not someone else’s. David shows us here that giving is a sacrifice.

  24. Wow!!!! Again this king David I’m just wow!!! his relationship with God, the way he talks to him, his life,
The king’s failures, his victories, his daily walk with God. A man after Gods own heart, yet, also someone
Who might not get it right at times…who missed it.
It clearly says that “David’s idea” was actually the devil doing it, proposing it to him ….
He heard that voice( thought in the mind)
And brought it to pass …

21:1 And satan stood up against Israel
And provoked David to number Israel.
    —-
And God sent an Anel unto Jerusalén to destroy it
And as he was destroying it, the lord beheld
And he repented him off the evil
And said to the Angel that destroyed it
It is enough, stay now thine hand and the Anel of the lord stood by the threshing floor of Omar the jebusite.

👉🏼 ….But God, whose mercies are everlasting
    Had mercy on the king.
Yes, the king repented, he made it right
    And God forgave him.
We all make mistakes( by choice, by deception or
By ignorance ) Gods love and kindness always reach to us.
God is good!!! And his mercy endures forever.

  25. 8 And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

9 And the Lord spake unto Gad, David’s seer, saying,

10 Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

God and David have had a one on one relationship since way back in the field when David was just a shepherd boy. We have read numerous times where God spoke directly to David. However, we read both accounts where it is recorded that David sinned, God sent a man of God to tell David about his sin, or the anger of God..

Sin separates us from God. God could have very easily told David about his sin and what the consequences where but it was not until David repented that we have the relationship between he and God restored.

If we find that our relationship with God is not where it once we, we must examine to see if we have sinned against God. Perhaps even hidden sins, but nevertheless we must repent and restore the relationship that God desires us to have with Him.

  26. 1 Chronicles Chapter 21
26 And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

Good Morning to the body Jesus Christ for we are one in Him. There is on one Faith, one Lord, and one baptism. May your prayers and petitions be answered. God answered King David by sending fire upon the alter of burnt offering. The plague was stopped and Life continued. Praise Jesus’

Did you the body of Christ go before go before Him this morning and is He ordering your day? Did you worship Him and honor Him? Have you heard from Him and were you given instructions for this day? God has a voice and He gives us correction and instructions to live this day. God loves us He has given us instruction so we may be assured that Jesus has prepared this day for us and we are not alone as we walk this day out. King David was following God instruction and a plague was stopped. His sin was forgiven.

Rejoice this day give God praise and worship. Come boldly to his throne. God calls us his children. Enjoy his presence.

  27. Good Leaders own up to their mistakes
I Chronicles 21:17 And David said to God, “Was it not I who commanded the people to be number? I am the one who has sinned and done evil indeed; but these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I pray, O Lord my God, be against me and my father’s house, but not against Your people that they should be plagued.”

Times of failure not only reveal a leader’s true character, but also present opportunities for significant leadership lessons.

Don’t hide your failures, blame others, or run from God. Admit failures and repent like David did and restore your relationship with God.

  28. 3But Joab replied, “May the LORD increase the number of his people a hundred times over! But why, my lord the king, do you want to do this? Are they not all your servants? Why must you cause Israel to sin?”

Why would David take a census count of warriors? Did David not trust in God to win every battle? I believe, David lost some confidence that his army may not win every battle. He wanted to reassure himself, with how many soldiers are ready for battle. Instead of just having faith in God that victory is his already.

Don’t put your faith in man, but in God. No matter how bad the situation may look, you have the victory with God on your side.

  29. David was insecure about how many men he had even though God was with him. He doubted the Lord and a plague came upon the people. David built an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor. God stopped the curse as He is a loving and forgiving God. Thank you Jesus Christ for this day.

  30. .” So David bought the place from Araunah for six hundred shekels of gold. He built an altar to God there and sacrificed Whole-Burnt-Offerings and Peace-Offerings. He called out to God and God answered by striking the altar of Whole-Burnt-Offering with lightning. Then God told the angel to put his sword back into its scabbard.

The answer is at the altar.

  31. 17 And David said to God, “I am the one who called for the census! I am the one who has sinned and done wrong! But these people are as innocent as sheep—what have they done? O Lord my God, let your anger fall against me and my family, but do not destroy your people.
    1 Chronicles 21:17 NLT

God created us he brought us here to be an example of him, to teach of him, to speak like the Lord. Many of us have people that look up to us, people that listen to our words. Be a leader that God has taught us to be, guide them to the light the path of the Lord, speak to them the word of God. I pray we all grow in the spirit of God, to let God teach us and guide us, so we can each help save beautiful lives, so we can help witness mighty miracles.

  32. 18 Then the angel of the Lordcommanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the Lord in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the Lord.
20 And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

When we stay about the work that Jesus has placed before us, sometimes we are blessed to get to see when Jesus speaks to the Man of God in our lives.

  33. 1 And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

When we look to our own abilities to do the Lord’s, we are not expressing faith.

  34. 7And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.

There are consequences for sin. We must do what is right to not suffer God’s wrath. The enemy wants us to believe that a little sin is ok. However, we must stand firm on what is right. God’s word will never change.

  35. “And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O Lord my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭21:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Our actions not only affect ourselves but those around us as well. The people suffered for Davids sin. For every action there is a reaction. I thank God for being a merciful God. I pray we continue to grow as leaders and remember our actions are always followed by a reaction

  36. 23 And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

What is your attitude towards the King of kings when he asks something of you? Now we read how this was David an earthly ming and Ornan was willing to freely give it all to the king? How much for our King Jesus when he asks of us, time, talent and treasure.

  37. 16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem.

As David realized his sin, he said to God, is it not I that commanded the people to numbered? Meaning not to hurt the people but to punish him. We must be accountable for our decisions we make in life. Many times we make wrong choices and we must pay for those choices. But one thing we must know for sure is that our God is there to hear our repentance. He is a merciful God. Call him, try him, he will hear you and forgive you. 🙏🙏

  38. 26 And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

After the sin and After the judgment David built a altar to the Lord.
There why be times we mess up and God will have to correct us but we must not forget to built a altar to the Lord.
A altar of repentance, altar of praise and worship.

  39. “Araunah, who was busy threshing wheat at the time, turned and saw the angel there. His four sons, who were with him, ran away and hid. When Araunah saw David approaching, he left his threshing floor and bowed before David with his face to the ground. David said to Araunah, “Let me buy this threshing floor from you at its full price. Then I will build an altar to the Lord there, so that he will stop the plague.” “Take it, my lord the king, and use it as you wish,” Araunah said to David. “I will give the oxen for the burnt offerings, and the threshing boards for wood to build a fire on the altar, and the wheat for the grain offering. I will give it all to you.” But King David replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it for the full price. I will not take what is yours and give it to the Lord. I will not present burnt offerings that have cost me nothing!” So David gave Araunah 600 pieces of gold in payment for the threshing floor. David built an altar there to the Lord and sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. And when David prayed, the Lord answered him by sending fire from heaven to burn up the offering on the altar.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭21:20-26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
David knew that it would not be a gift nor a sacrifice unto the LORD if it did not cost him something. He didn’t look for the cheapest way possible to please God. Are we looking for the easiest and cheapest way out?

  40. 8 And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

David was quick to recognize his sin, admit to the Lord his mistake, and he took full responsibility
for his sin. I believe that when we do this, God knows our heart and he is far more merciful to us, I believe it is when we hold on to it, try to hide from it, and don’t take responsibility
that it angers him even more. While we may at times be quick to sin, I believe that we must be even quicker to admit our mistake, repent of our sin and ask the Lord for forgiveness, and mercy.

  41. 23 And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

Many a time have I left everything at the altar of sacrifice and God has replaced every bit of it and so added. Why is it that we are so hesitant to obey his voice when he speaks.

I’m admired that this didn’t doubt in giving it all, he knew God would not forsake him. Us too, we should never hesitate to give God everything he asked for at a moments notice because He is faithful.

    I give it all!

  42. 26 And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

It doesnt matter where you are you can build an altar anywhere and God will hear you. You dont have to be in a closet you dont have to be in the truck the car the sanctuary nothing you can build an altar between bethel and AI you can build it on the job you can build it in the school and God will still hear you

  43. 3 And Joab answered, The Lord make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

I want to have the faith to make those unrealistic requests and believe it so. Joab asked to basically multiply the people by a hundred. That’s not the normal request.

Never come to a point in your walk with God that you feel you can sin without repercussion or consequences. And then I don’t know if it is a good thing or not that God gives you a choice of consequences. It seems as though he was so upset that he had to give David options.

16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

  44. “And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭21:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The king could have or take whatever he wanted. As king it was within his rights. He understood that if he were giving it to God, a king who was above all, he had to pay a price for it.
