1 Kings 1
1 Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.
2 Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.
3 So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
4 And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.
5 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
6 And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom.
7 And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.
8 But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
9 And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by Enrogel, and called all his brethren the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah the king’s servants:
10 But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.
11 Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?
12 Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
13 Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?
14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.
15 And Bathsheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.
16 And Bathsheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou?
17 And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the Lord thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.
18 And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not:
19 And he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.
20 And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
21 Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.
22 And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.
23 And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
24 And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?
25 For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.
26 But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called.
27 Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
28 Then king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.
29 And the king sware, and said, As the Lord liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,
30 Even as I sware unto thee by the LordGod of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.
31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
32 And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.
33 The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:
34 And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.
35 Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the Lord God of my lord the king say so too.
37 As the Lord hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.
38 So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.
39 And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.
40 And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.
41 And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?
42 And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant man, and bringest good tidings.
43 And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king.
44 And the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king’s mule:
45 And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard.
46 And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom.
47 And moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
48 And also thus said the king, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.
49 And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.
50 And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
51 And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me today that he will not slay his servant with the sword.
52 And Solomon said, If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.
53 So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.

Just because you’re related or close with certain people or think that you’re even qualified to do something does not mean you should nor doesn’t mean that God is calling you to it. The desire to fill a position is not matched with the ability to perform it. It’s not about whether or not you can do the job it’s about has God called you to that purpose? In my years of ministry, I’ve seen many people come into the church with ambitions and goals were honorable but they were trying to go about it the wrong way and it was obvious God had not called them for that . And these biblical times that we’re reading about, the Kings and the prophets were anointed for the position that God put them in. It wasn’t a matter of heritage or ability but whether or not God had chosen them for that time and position. We need to look for where we are anointed not where we believe we are equipped for. God does not call the equipped, he equips the called. Personally, I believe God is called everyone to do something but he has not called just anyone to do everything period we need to find our place in the ministry and callings of God where he has anointed and appointed us regardless of if we believe we are qualified or equipped to.
I understand making preparations for the next king bit gone the reigning King was not gone yet. The kings helpers should be on their faces before God, so that the right one is appointed.
5. Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
39. And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.
53. So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.
You can self-proclaim and call yourself anything you want, but without God’s anointing you might as well go home.
Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.

This chapter shows me that God is in control. Adonijah could try and exalt himself all he wanted; but, God already had a plan in place. 1 Peter 5:6 AMP says “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time,”. We must seek and pray for God’s will in our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 AMP also says “For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
1 Kings 1 : 40 -41 [ amp] All the people followed him; they played on pipes and rejoiced greatly, so that the earth resounded] with the joyful sound.
[ 41] And Adonijah and all the guests with him heard it as they finished feasting. When Joah heard the trumpet sound, He said, What does this uproar in the city mean.

53 So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.
The mercy of a king. Mercy I believe is a trait we get only from God above. Primal tendencies say that when competition rises up, you take it out. Solomon could have very easily killed his brother, but he didn’t.
God’s Mercy is a great as His love, I believe. It’s new every morning and knows no bounds. My Precious Lord, thank You for Mercy today.

We can try to exalt purselves all day but if GOD didn’t send you nor did HE tell you then it’s trash!!! GOD’S will be done!!!

Exalting oneself is the perfect recipe for disaster. Obadiah 1:4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD
Ecclesiasticus 1:30 Exalt not thyself, lest thou fall, and bring dishonour upon thy soul, and so God discover thy secrets, and cast thee down in the midst of the congregation, because thou camest not in truth to the fear of the Lord, but thy heart is full of deceit.
God as Jesus showed us the most humble example as He washed His disciples feet. Jesus is the King of kings but show us a heart of servant. Everything and everyone that exalta itself will be cast down and those that humble themselves will be exalted.
34 And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.
35 Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
Thank you Jesus because from the very beginning you taught us to be humble for you the King of kings and Lord of lords was born in a manger. With humility from the start. Emmanuel God with us, chose to be born in the most humble situation. Thank you for always being an example of excellence. May we follow in your footsteps and love with an agape love of humility and service to all those that need us the most. Teach us to serve in the streets, in the hospitals, and in the jails. May we recover those that the world has forgotten. In Jesus Name Amen
1Kings 1
32 King David said, “Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” They came to the king.
King David shows the importance of Godly Council I believe in this chapter. Though he himself was too weak to continue on his kingship he knew those had surrounded himself with would follow through with wisdom .David now has to depend upon their loyalty and counsel to fulfill what God wanted for the Kingdom. Godly counsel and assured they would have a plan to get the Kingdom in the tight hands
I have found over the years that it is important to have Godly counsel in your life. I think about the fact that here is David on his death bed he probably is at his most weakest in His life . Yet he allows those closet to him into his bedroom . He trusted them . He knew not only had they given him counsel before even when it may had been a rebuke or caution he still had much confidence in them. Surrounding ourself with Godly council and friends who have the same love for God’s truth is so important. I’m thankful there are men and women in my life that I know will do their best to help me make right decisions in some of the weakest moments of my life .
Seek counsel from strong wise praying people. David has no worry for the three he called in had already been faithful to help him in his ups and downs.
He knew that he could depend upon them for they too wanted what was best for the kingdom .
Blessed us the man who seek not counsel from the ungodly ! Psalms 1:1
1 Kings 1:5 & 53
5) Then Adonijah the son of Haggith EXALTEd himself, saying, I WILL be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
53) So king Solomon sent, and they BROUGHT HIM DOWN from the altar. And he came and BOWED HIMSELF to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine home.
You see when you EXALT yourself, you will be BROUGHT DOWN (abased).
Jesus said in St. Matt. 23:12, “Whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased;…”
BUT He also said in that same verse, “… and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”
So, the best thing we can do is… Humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, and He will exalt us in due time. (1 Peter 5:6)
I Kings 1:49-53
The news of Solomon’s kingship brought end to ti Adonijiahs plans He sought mercy from Solomon by laying hold on the horns of altar,
.52 And Solomon said, If he will show himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.
Proverbs 13:6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

THE KING HAS THE LAST WORD
30 Even as I sware unto thee by the Lord God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.
31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
32 And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.
33 The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon:
Self promotion and pride had caused tumult in the Kingdom. A self appointed unauthorized individual had self appointed and promoted himself to be King.
But the was yet ALIVE and heard what had been planned. The King moved quickly to action to correct the situation.
I feel to tell someone today that the KING JESUS HAS THE LAST WORD in your situation, family and case. The King will speak and that right on time. The conditions may not look favorable, but The KING JESUS is yet in control and will have the LAST WORD.

You cannot exalt yourself without consequences.
Especially when it is done with evil intent. It just may cost you your life.

It is never a good thing to exalt yourself before your time. We must always pray and wait on the Lord and he will direct our path.

The process of thinking more highly of your self and self promotion will only lead to a disastrous end for those type of people. When Adonijah stated that he would be king, there was no appointment or divine anointing placed upon him. He felt that his brother Absalom did as he wanted, so Adonijah could take what he felt was his. There is no success in promoting one’s self without the commission of the authority that is over you. You may take that what you feel is entitled to you, but it will not prosper.
I believe that if God wants us promoted he will open that door. I feel that things in the kingdom of God will come in a manner that is not chaotic or even done out of order. He will appoint his authority over you when it is his timing. Again self promotion only leads to spiritual death and physical death. We have to make our election sure and it has to be divinely ordained by God. We have to then submit ourselves to that authority with humility and sincerity. That’s how we get promoted by God.
12 Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
13 Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?
14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.
Nathan gave godly counsel because he knew the word and plan of God to raise Soloman up as king after David. Those that followed Adonijah knew he was not appointed yet followed after a man’s desire and not God’s nor their king. God raises up whom he will to become ruler so his will can be done.
30 Even as I sware unto thee by the LordGod of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day.
Self-promotion doesn’t work in the Kingdom of God – at least never successfully. God will always exalt His people to the right place, at the right time. Know your place, be submitted, and wait on the Lord. Service, sacrifice, and submission will always be rewarded in the Kingdom of God.
1:31 then Bethsheba bowed with her face to the earth , and did reverence to the king and said,
Let my lord king David live forever.

I see something happening and i I don’t like it.
I know, I remember what the king ( my ABBA) told me. I have kept those words, that promise with me
And I know that one day will come to pass. I will see it.
We will see it, they see it.

These people knew what supposed to happened
And they were concern of what was happening.
So what they did they do?
👉🏼 Came to the king. And remind him of what was said in the past …
She came to the king
She bowed to the king and honored him
They told him her( their) concern
The king heard her
And something happens.

So next time I find myself seeing things that I know it’s right,
I will come to the king
To his throne
Bow and exalt his name , and remind him
Of things spoken by him before, and
Make known my petition.

The king is good. And he wants the best for his people.
What do we do when things go wrong?
This is a great reference of what to do in our lives when things are unjust. Bathsheba had counsel from the man of God and took the matter before the king. She did not try to settle things herself. She did not just sit back and watch things happen. She to the matter to the king and she let the king rule. Then she did what the king said.
We too can follow thaws steps. We can take a matter to pastor to seek his advise for how to bring it to God. Then when we approach the king of kings we are to do what he says and watch him sort it out. God doesn’t need our help solving a problem, but he does need us to obey so that he can get all glory from the victory he brings.

There is no cure to age, no way to stop time in its track, or even a way to go back to the “golden days”. Every day is precious. Every moment is an opportunity! We can look back, and see all the opportunities missed or opportunities that allowed Jesus to show His mighty works!
50 And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
As Bro. Godwin would say, Adonijah was heading up a “coup de ta” promoting himself to be king, when King David had no knowledge of this event, nor anointed Adonijah.
We must be careful with “self promotors” People that are always bragging and boasting on themselves, will take any opportunity given to promote themselves to places that God never intended them to be.
God puts up and take down whom He will, so we must allow Him to position us in the place of influence and authority that He desires, and not put ourselves in that place, because then we are there without authority
“And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?”
1 Kings 1:41 KJV
GOD is a GOD of order and not chaos. And His KINGDOM has been established from the beginning of time. Just as The LORD established king Solomon to reign afterwards. We as a church cannot allow ourselves to be deceived by the enemies devices! The more we get into reading the Bible daily, the more we are alert standing firm as the whole armour of GOD Is applied and ready for battle. Know your purpose in life, then you won’t be so consumed in chasing something that doesn’t belong to you.
13 Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?
14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.
15 And Bathsheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king.
God had told David before Solomon was born that Solomon would be Israel’s next king (1 chron.22:9,10). Nathan had a desire to see the word of the Lord fulfilled. Being concerned about the threat of Adonijah, he skillfully brought the issue to David’s attention. And also remind him of April he had made that Solomon son oh but Sheba would be the next king of Israel.

52) And solo man said, If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not a hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die.
53) So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the alter. And he came and bowed himself to king Soloman: and Soloman said unto him. Go to thine house.
King Soloman’s first judgement, after being anointed king, was a conditional pardon of Adonijah.
Hallelujah!!
17 And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the Lord thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.
18 And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not:

Adonijah promoted himself to be king, leaving Bathsheba to become worried of what was to come.
But just when all hope seemed to be gone, the king spoke and order was restored.
Even in our darkest hours, when it seems the enemy has the upper hand, we can trust that the King will show up right on time and deliver us from the hands of the enemy!
4 And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.
5 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
The whole story of a chapter can flip in two verses. The same way situations in our lives can also change in an instant. David needed someone not so much “wife” but more intimately like a nurse/companion to comfort him. We never know when a good thing will come our way or something blow up in our face. That’s why we have to be prepared in season and out of season. David was getting older and that was obvious to everyone. This includes Adonijah, that felt entitled the throne despite Salomon’s decree. Adonijah did all but swipe the crown off David’s head to make himself king. This is what happens when we get wrapped up in foolishness. We can’t think more highly of ourself than we ought and of course pride comes before the fall. Quite literally Adonijah bent himself down at the alter hanging onto the horns for dear life. It didn’t have to get this far if he had wise counsel or respected authority. We can learn from this and chose to comfort our authority rather than trying to override them. Submission and humbleness may be hard and not always seem fair. Common sense gets in the way of faith or trying to understand Gods will. The last thing we wanna do is get out of position and in Gods way.
“Adonijah was afraid of Solomon, so he rushed to the sacred tent and grabbed on to the horns of the altar.”(1 Kings 1:50 NLT)
The Lord knows all things and see all things. He also knows the heart and motives of everyone of his people he has created. The Lord knew who was going to be the next king to sit on David’s throne. I feel that God convicted the heart of Adonijah to in order for him to go to the altar to seek for mercy from God in heaven. All things today and always will be in control by the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.! He deserves the praise always!!!
I must reference the fact that this chapter sounds like the current events of today with the struggle for the throne and/or our current President election issues. Fighting for the head seat, but God always prevails with his truly chosen one or his anointed!

iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
1Ki 1:51 And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me to day that he will not slay his servant with the sword.
This young man knew how to repent of his evil. He knew how to run to the Lord and he knew how to humble himself. When we act a fool, we should run to the altar! (Unfortunately this young man would later make another big mistake). We need to always run to the altar

Exalting yourself never got anyone anything. It is the Lord that is in control. And an act of pride like this one of exalting one self only gets you kicked out like lighting.
In the book of Daniel it puts it this way:
And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

It is always best to be called to do a particular service for the house of the Lord. I am not against volunteers, however if a volunteer exalts himself there is a stumbling block in and of its self.
52Solomon replied, “If he proves himself to be loyal, not a hair on his head will be touched. But if he makes trouble, he will die.”
Yes we must be loyal and committed to God. If we aren’t then we are spiritually dead. We are only answering to ourselves. Stay committed to God and you’ll have a prosperous life.

David had appointed Solomon to be king, not Adonijah. You need to always talk to our Lord when you are going for anything important. I was fortunate with my present job, that I had asked God to show me where to go for work. God told me, “go where you live.” I was living at Woodhill at the time and sat at the office for 5 minutes then went inside, and the manager at the time hired me immediately! No interview after I asked her if she had a full time job available. (God is who told me about the job). After 16 years at this job now, I thank God for directing me there. God has blessed me with this job! Thank you dear Jesus for this day and my job!

Consequences are always at the end of our bad decision. When we lift ourselves up, we are not succeeding, we aren’t not doing what the Lord commanded us to do. We must be loyal to the word of the Lord and the Lord, we must realize even though we want to do something our way we must obey the Lord and be faithful to him. Because the only one who knows our future and how to protect us is the Lord. No evil will ever take us down when we stand tall with the Lord, when we’re with the Lord he raising us higher and higher with him, and bringing us strength and peace.
43 And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king.
When God sets the wheels in motion, the best thing to do is get on-board. Others may try to stop what God is doing, but they will fail. His plan will always come to pass. Don’t worry about the naysayers because they can’t stop you with God on your side.
“Then Bathsheba bowed down with her face to the ground before the king and exclaimed, “May my lord King David live forever!” Then King David ordered, “Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” When they came into the king’s presence, the king said to them, “Take Solomon and my officials down to Gihon Spring. Benaiah understood an important principle – that unless the LORD God said “Amen!” to the selection of Solomon, he would not stand.
In this chapter king David was beginning to get old so they had a women come and take care of him. We have to be willing to help others in need even if we are not getting anything out of it! Whenever I help someone and put a smile on their face it puts a smile on my face!😁 God has called us to be his people and good leaders. We have to make sure our actions are showing leadership to others in need! In the Bible it says love ❤️ your neighbor like it was yourself. We should take care of ourselves and others. We are a temple in Christ made to worship him!

Your true character will always be revealed. Regardless of if you may try to hide it it will be revealed. As Christians we must make sure we are living and representing Christ well. We must not be one way in the church one way out the church. You can’t have one foot in and one foot out.
“Abruptly, while she was telling the king all this, Nathan the prophet came in and was announced: “Nathan the prophet is here.” He came before the king, honoring him by bowing deeply, his face touching the ground.”

Humility before the king
Though this is a prophet bowing before David this is the act of humility and honor before a king.
This is a position we should become familiar with when approaching Jesus Christ. We take it for granted way too often and don’t even really consider it but this is true humility before Jesus. I challenge myself before anyone else to approach Jesus in a similar manner. I believe it’s saying not my will Lord but yours be done. I believe it’s saying I give myself to you Lord have your way.

There is a day coming where everyone will be judged by Jesus Christ to see if your name is found in the book of life. Don’t wait another day knowing you had every opportunity to make a change but delayed one more day.

Being humble can’t often save your life. God and others are often looking for a humble person to show grace and kindness towards. Wickedness and sin brings death but humbleness and righteousness brings life and peace.

Adonijah, having acted in opposition to the will of the reigning king, was guilty of rebellion, and stood self-condemned. But even though he was a rebellious person, Solomon spared his life on the express condition of his good behavior—living in strict privacy, leading a quiet, peaceable life, and meddling with the affairs of neither the court nor the kingdom. This is the grace of God. Even though people may be rebellious into you, always act in mercy. Because God will do the rest.

This Chapter means that, Adonijah wanted to be The King Of Israel, but It was not The Lord’s Will for Solomon would be King of Wisdom and build The Lord’s Temple.

It was God’s will for Solomon to be king over Israel. Even though Adonijah had a plan to steal the throne, he did not overcome what God had planned.
The will of God shall always prevail.
“And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.”

The word that came to mind while reading this chapter was solutions. Bath-sheba and Nathan could have whined for a few days, hashed it out with Adobijah, essentially creating unnecessary drama. However, they went to king David instead. That’s what we should do when we have a problem in need of answering – Go to the King. We serve a God who is The Waymaker. The doors He opens no man can shut. I thank God for allowing us to run to Him in our time of need. I pray we seek His face every time we are presented with a challenge
47 And moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
48 And also thus said the king, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.
There is something to be said for a teacher to see his student, or in this case a father to see his son take over and be successful.

Let us not follow Adonijah example of self exaltation.
For all things come from God and at His time. Instead let us pray more, consecrate and read the word. So when the day comes we will rise up and step up to what the Lord has prepared for us.

27 Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
I love how the Prophet comes to David to confirm it was not said by King David himself. He wants to clarify that there weren’t any misunderstandings and at the same time make King David aware so that something could change and be done about it. Sometimes we often jump to conclusions before going to the source and double checking with the lead. But rather sometimes, we would rather assume and take the wrong direction of opinions.

Solomon was appointed and with good reason with his wisdom. Solomon always would see both sides and give options, “If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.” Options and consequences.
