1 Kings 2

Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,

I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;

And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

Moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.

Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace.

But shew kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother.

And, behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood.

10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

11 And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.

12 Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly.

13 And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.

14 He said moreover, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she said, Say on.

15 And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother’s: for it was his from the Lord.

16 And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on.

17 And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.

18 And Bathsheba said, Well; I will speak for thee unto the king.

19 Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand.

20 Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.

21 And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife.

22 And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.

23 Then king Solomon sware by the Lord, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.

24 Now therefore, as the Lord liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.

25 And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.

26 And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Lord God before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.

27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the Lord; that he might fulfil the word of the Lord, which he spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

28 Then tidings came to Joab: for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after Absalom. And Joab fled unto the tabernacle of the Lord, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

29 And it was told king Solomon that Joab was fled unto the tabernacle of the Lord; and, behold, he is by the altar. Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him.

30 And Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the Lord, and said unto him, Thus saith the king, Come forth. And he said, Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.

31 And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my father.

32 And the Lord shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.

33 Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the Lord.

34 So Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and slew him: and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.

35 And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host: and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar.

36 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Build thee an house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth thence any whither.

37 For it shall be, that on the day thou goest out, and passest over the brook Kidron, thou shalt know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy blood shall be upon thine own head.

38 And Shimei said unto the king, The saying is good: as my lord the king hath said, so will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.

39 And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants be in Gath.

40 And Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants: and Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.

41 And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come again.

42 And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to swear by the Lord, and protested unto thee, saying, Know for a certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me, The word that I have heard is good.

43 Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the Lord, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?

44 The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou didst to David my father: therefore the Lord shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head;

45 And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever.

46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

  1. But shew kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother.

    • David didnt keep his word to Solomon about not doing evil that he said he would not do. He also broke his word to Shimel. So this wasn’t pleasing to God .

  3. 1 Kings 2

  4. 1 Kings 2:3 [ amp] Keep the charge of the Lord your God, walk in his ways, keep his statutes, his commandments, his precepts, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may do wisely and prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.
    Ps. 31: 8 [ amp] I ( the Lord) will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
    Lord search my heart and my mind.
    I want more of you.
    This is day that the Lord has made and I will glad in it!

    9. Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood.

    David promised that he would not kill these men, but Solomon had not made such a promise. He was being obedient to his father’s last orders and avenging the wrongs against the throne he was about to rule from.
    We may not see them today or tomorrow, but actions have consequences.

  6. 3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

    Establish your kingdom within you! We all have rule over our own bodies, its how we rule over them. Being well in lined with the word of God and trusting in him whole hearted and leaning on truth and his will, will make your kingdom flourish. Keeping the lords commandments embedded within you in your kingdom, the only thing you can control in this world, your body!

  7. It seems like cleaning house when you come into power is nothing new. As I watch today’s news and how the new President pick and chooses who will be seating around him; I pray! I pray that God’s will be done. That our Nation can continue to survive and that our children could be protected from this crazy world.
    As David t los Solomon you are wise enough to make the right decisions and warns him of those that surrounded him, all I can think is that all parents tend to give advice to their children as they embark into their independent lives. We try our best to give them the right upbringing under the commandments of our God. We teach them the word AJs pray that it stays alive in their heart forever, then we let go and let God. Off they go into this chaotic world and try their best to stay afloat. We lose some and we win some but we continue to uplift them in prayer and hope that a day will come when we will watch them March right back into their Fathers House. In Jesus Name we claim all our children will return. Amen

  8. In this chapter we read about David’s charge to Solomon and the reminder of all he needed to take care of using his wisdom. By now, many probably thought that they had gotten away from any backlash from the way they had treated David and the things that they had done as David was about to die. Numbers 32:23 MSG says “But if you don’t do what you say, you will be sinning against God; you can be sure that your sin will track you down.” Same verse CEV “But if you don’t keep your promise, you will sin against the Lord and be punished. Same verse ERV “But if you don’t do these things, you will be sinning against the Lord. And know for sure that you will be punished for your sin.”

  9. Making plans and mapping out your days to come are useless if you are only doing it to be doing it. God sees and knows then you are not trustworthy. God does not like a lying tongue. Praying to God and then going out and casting stones against your brother will lead you to destruction.

  10. Our actions have consequences. We may think we got away with something, that no one knows or saw you do it, but God is all knowing. Adonijah, Joab, Abiathar and Shimei may have thought they were in the clear . In the end they all paid the consequences for their actions.

  11. 2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;
    3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

    We may not live during a Time like they did Kings and rulers but we can still take the advice that David gave Solomon and send it to our passing generation to stay strong and follow the testimonies and the statutes of the lord. Knowing where God will prosper us and following his word thanks a lot more simple than we put them it’s just a matter of making the decision that no matter how difficult things can get that we set our hearts towards heaven and follow the spirit of Christ through every thing we face

  12. And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

    David’s words to his son.
    Keep the charge of the Lord
    Keep His commandments.
    It’s time for children to return to God . I don’t care how old or young. Solomon had a great responsibility his father gave to him but David knew the strength that would come and enable his son to be strong . Even in the midst of what was a family upheaval David
    equipped Solomon with words of wisdom. Stay strong and keep God’s commandments. The Lord Your God will be with you .

  13. 1 Kings 2:15
    “And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother’s: for it was his from the LORD.”

    “My Will vs the Lord’s Will”
    Adonijah’s Will was that the kingdom belonged to him… “the kingdom was mine and I should reign.” But the Lord’s Will was for Solomon to reign in the kingdom… “it was his from the Lord.”

    This is something we all struggle with at times “My Will vs the Lord’s Will.” The Lord dealt with me about this very thing Saturday night in Prayer and Sunday morning in my Prayer time. He showed me that I was seeking for My Will to be done and not His. I thanked Him for showing me that, and I repented and asked for His Will be done. And His Will was done.

    I am so Thankful for God’s Mercy!

  14. I Kings 2:46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada ; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

    Solomon had to make tough but crucial leadership decisions at the beginning of his reign. First he had yo deal with men scheming for power—even his own brother, Adonijah tried to set up his own kingdom. One by one, King Solomon discerned the loyalties of his associates, then removed all who refused to cooperate with him .
    The young king ensured that his inner circle would include only loyal men who wanted to work with him.

    II Chronicles 1:1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

  15. 2“I am going where everyone on earth must someday go. Take courage and be a man.

    Men, take notice. Be the leader of your household. Bring your family to church, and pray so your children see you. Don’t be discouraged during times of trouble and continue to lead your family to God.

  16. 1 Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,

    2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;

    3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

    4 That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

    This was the greatest gift that David could give Solomon before he died. The things that David learned through his life from a shepherd boy to a warrior to the king of Israel. To take all the lessons learned and pass them off to his successor and his son. God was always apart of David’s life in one fashion or another. He did some bad things but always was a man after God’s own heart.

    The greatest advice I got wasn’t from my father because I didn’t know my biological father, but from my father-in-law. He led by example how to follow God and treat and lead his family. I hope that when it comes to my time ending on this earth I hope that I could look and say that I have my kids a great example of how to love and follow God. Because when the things of this earth pass away, the word of God will endure from generation to generation. This is how we can Live Give Jesus through all we do to others that need to be led down the right path.

  17. Revenge much….. But if it were like that today, there would be very little people left!!!
    And that is GOD’S mercy!!!
    We must be on the right side!!!
    There is no middle!!!

  18. “And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭2:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    The enemy may think that he has won… again. But The Lord was with Solomon from the beginning. Don’t fear the schemes of that little old Lucifer. GOD will always give you the wisdom to overcome.

    “What then shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can be [successful] against us?”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:31‬ ‭

  19. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    WORDS OF WISDOM FROM AN ELDER

    2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;
    3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
    4 That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

    King David, identified as a man after Gods heart, the psalmist, the King of Israel, warrior, survivor, and leader of men has some WORDS OF WISDOM.

    1. I go the way of the earth. The King acknowledged that for even a man of his stature, his time on earth is limited. We will all go that way if the LORD tarries.

    2. To Live JESUS requires a strong resolve and commitment.

    3. Live JESUS in every facet of life, walk in HIS ways and keep HIS commandments.

    4. GOD will Bless the life that is committed to Live JESUS.

    Carnal plans and ways are tempting to the flesh and to fulfill the desires of man. But, the pain and surrender of the Blessings of GOD are far more attractive and valuable. May JESUS continue to Bless you and shine brightly upon each of you today as we follow the WORDS OF WISDOM FROM AN ELDER.

  20. 35 And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host: and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar.

    44 The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou didst to David my father: therefore the Lord shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head;

    45 And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever.

    46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

    Solomon did not order Shimei’s execution immediately rather, he put him under a sort of house arrest, forbidding him to leave the City after three years Shimei left Jerusalem to seek two escaped slaves in Gath. In so doing he broke the oath that Solomon had made him swear earlier, and he demanded that he was no more faithful to Solomon then he had been to David when he returned, the king commended Benaiah To put him to death.
    Thus Solomon made his kingdom secure by aggressively remove all who hears were not with him. Therefore his reign was one of peace. The Christian will know the peace of God as he puts out of his low the things which oppose the reign of Christian within.

  21. 2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;
    3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
    4 That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

    Live according to the Word of God! David adhered to truth and always turned to God in times of trouble. Now, as his son rises up, so are we called as a next generation to follow in steps of obedience. Cling to the truth and Live Jesus for everyone to see!

  22. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
    1Ki 2:3  And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

    I know this is a simple thought, but as I read this the light came on. David is telling Solomon how simple life can be if you just simply follow the law. You will be blessed and God will make sure you prosper. This also works in the physical world as well. If we are respectful to the authorities we will live a life of peace.

  23. 2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;
    3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

    The command David gave Solomon is still the command of the Lord today for his people. Prosperity out side of God is futile if we are not keeping his commands and are saved in the end. But blessings and prosperity from God means so much more-it’s our health, our finances, our children saved; it’s also his mercy and grace. I bless the Lord and am thankful for his word and his many blessings!

  24. 2:9 Now don’t leave him unpunished
    . You are a wise man, you will know what you must do, but don’t let him die peacefully of old age.

    Don’t worry, pray , do your party and watch.
    We see the king mentioned several men that did him wrong i in his good years of reign…
    He is talking to his son about these men
    Making sure to bring punishment at the right time
    Trusting in his good judgment because we know he is and will be a very wise king.

    We see that these men throughout the time, each One received their reward( for their actions…)
    We should not seek revenge
    But , us children of God should seek the Lord
    His kingdom, His righteousness, his council, his wisdom,
    And everything else will fall in place.
    ( these men dug their own grave.)
    And the king just did what he was told.( he obeyed)
    Hallelujah 🙌
    Blessed be the name of the lord.

  25. 9 Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah.

    A leopard cannot change his spots – once a leopard, always a leopard. Adonijah
    had tried a coup de ta in the last chapter, and David saw straight through it, and did what should have been done – anointed and appointed Solomon to be king. Now we see Adonijah asking his mother to ask Solomon to give him Abishag as wife. Why would he ask that? Abishag was the maiden who attended and ministered to David during the last years of his life. If Adonijah could get her hand in marriage, it would be like receiving an inheritance from David, perhaps another way to weasel himself into the throne room of king Solomon and cause more problems.

    Thankfully the wisdom of Solomon saw right through the plot and it brought death to Adonijah.

    Often times the plots that we twist to get what we want will be the same plot that brings us death – sometimes physically, sometimes spiritually. Be aware of those that divide. The bible says “mark those that cause division among you…”

  26. “If you do this, then the Lord will keep the promise he made to me. He told me, ‘If your descendants live as they should and follow me faithfully with all their heart and soul, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.’”
    1 Kings 2:4 NLT

    If we obey the commandments of the Lord and stay firm to His word He will keep His promise that He has made to us. If we daily follow Jesus and be faithful to Him with all our hearts and soul to live Jesus and give Jesus2 we shall see this end time revival come to pass.

    Those are good words and I believe full of Gods love and protection. We hear such words from Pastor Watts in Leadership meetings, Sunday services, and Wednesdays. We too at times do not heed the directions. we are all like sheep turning our selves in our way. In so doing we walk away from Jesus. Yet Jesus comes for us and finds us. We are encouraged to read the Word, Live the word, teach the word by our own lives, and sharing the word. Let us hold fast to our faith and share the good news has set us free in order that those that we share with may come to Christ and the Gospel. The Lord will bring the those that he has called. We must be about his business. Solomon Started his business by those words spoken to him. He was was the third king of Israel and wise. He was the last King of the whole Israel. Let us run the race and keep running. Let us Live Jesus and Give Jesus.

  28. 2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;

    Before David died, he spoke wisdom to Solomon. He taught Solomon things he had to learn the hard way.

    They say children are like sponges. They soak up everything around them. The way you act and speak in front of a child is how they learn to act and speak.

    So what are we allowing the next generation to soak up? Are we imparting wisdom to them as David did to Solomon?

    Even as adults we would be smart to soak up all the wisdom our elders and leaders have to give us.

  29. “As the time of King David’s death approached, he gave this charge to his son Solomon: “I am going where everyone on earth must someday go. Take courage and be a man. Observe the requirements of the Lord your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go. If you do this, then the Lord will keep the promise he made to me. He told me, ‘If your descendants live as they should and follow me faithfully with all their heart and soul, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.’ “And there is something else. You know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me when he murdered my two army commanders, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. He pretended that it was an act of war, but it was done in a time of peace, staining his belt and sandals with innocent blood. Do with him what you think best, but don’t let him grow old and go to his grave in peace. “Be kind to the sons of Barzillai of Gilead. Make them permanent guests at your table, for they took care of me when I fled from your brother Absalom. “And remember Shimei son of Gera, the man from Bahurim in Benjamin. He cursed me with a terrible curse as I was fleeing to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, I swore by the Lord that I would not kill him. But that oath does not make him innocent. You are a wise man, and you will know how to arrange a bloody death for him. ””
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭2:1-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  30. “Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the Lord, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭2:43‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    It’s easy to get comfortable and complacent in life, in our jobs, our ministry. It’s important that we constantly work on our relationship with Jesus to make sure we get a fresh anointing each day and that we are full of His joy. I thank God for His guidance and knowing us better than we know ourselves. I pray we see everyday as an opportunity to serve Jesus!

  31. In this chapter David was giving advice about the kingdom to his son Solomon. David was saying to follow in God’s will and leading the kingdom. Solomon’s mother came up to tell him one day and had a request. Her request was to let a woman Mary his older brother. Solomon denied the request and killed him. Solomon was listening to God and following his instructions to do what was best for the kingdom. Being a king is not as easy as it sounds. Sometimes things have to go beyond measures to do what is best for their people. If God had called Solomon to lead a kingdom, God must have known that he was worthy. POFW I am very thankful that God has called our pastor to be our pastor. God chooses the right people to do his work for his kingdom. We should go beyond measures to do great and mighty things for his kingdom and others. We have to make sure we are putting the kingdom first, before our daily activities. MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS KNOW THAT JESUS LOVES YOU!!!❤️

  32. 1 Kings 2:3
    Observe the requirements of the lord your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go.

    Jeremiah 7:23

    But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you

    Acts 5:29

    But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men

    Obey the Lord your God and keep his commandments.

  33. David loved the Lord with all his heart. He wanted his son Solomon to take over as king. It was important for David to let Solomon know to follow our Lord, and be led by God in all that he does. Our Lord is so awesome! Thank you Jesus for this day.

  34. 1Kings 2:1-4

    1) Now the days of David grew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,

    2) I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;

    3) And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes , and his commandments, and his judgements, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

    4) That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

    Praise the LorD God!!!

    Hallelujah!!

  35. In this chapter, there is obviously a lot troubles setting up the new leadership or keeping the throne of David . Solomon had to due away with old rivals of his father and to the commandments of the Lord.

    “You still want to be in Leadership? Honorable but tough decisions have to happen sometimes!”

    “Be blessed……..”

  36. ““How can you possibly ask me to give Abishag to Adonijah?” King Solomon demanded. “You might as well ask me to give him the kingdom! You know that he is my older brother, and that he has Abiathar the priest and Joab son of Zeruiah on his side.” Then King Solomon made a vow before the Lord: “May God strike me and even kill me if Adonijah has not sealed his fate with this request. The Lord has confirmed me and placed me on the throne of my father, David; he has established my dynasty as he promised. So as surely as the Lord lives, Adonijah will die this very day!” So King Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada to execute him, and Adonijah was put to death.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭2:22-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    Solomon understood the situation perfectly. He knew that this was Adonijah’s attempt to declare or build a claim to the throne of Israel.

  37. 33 Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the Lord.

    When we follow the Lord we will have peace.

  38. 1 Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,

    2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;

    3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

  39. “When David’s time to die approached, he charged his son Solomon, saying, “I’m about to go the way of all the earth, but you—be strong; show what you’re made of! Do what GOD tells you. Walk in the paths he shows you: Follow the life-map absolutely, keep an eye out for the signposts, his course for life set out in the revelation to Moses; then you’ll get on well in whatever you do and wherever you go. Then GOD will confirm what he promised me when he said, ‘If your sons watch their step, staying true to me heart and soul, you’ll always have a successor on Israel’s throne.’”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭2:1-4‬ ‭MSG‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/97/1ki.2.1-4.msg
    This pst prt stands out to me and is ever so true. If we stay true to Him we will always have a king undefeated on our throne. You can guarantee that you won’t have anything to worry with if you stay true to the king of kings!

  40. 12 Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly.

    God can take you from zero to hero. He will take you to the next level. By his power only can we push past the things in our life and do what God wants us to do. He is power and strength.

  41. 45 And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord for ever.

    God put up and takes down whomever he please. It says that David shall be established before the Lord forever. David once a young man tending to the sheep called out and make king now established before the Lord forever. David the same man guilty of murder and adultery yet not treated as such in the eyes of God because of his willingness to praise and stay humble before God. Unable to build a physical tabernacle because of the blood on his hands yet his ability to enter into the spirit in praise and worship allied him to build a place for God to rule in the spirit.

    Oh to learn from David’s mistakes and triumphs!

  42. 4 If you do this, then the Lord will keep the promise he made to me. He told me, “If your descendants live as they should and follow me faithfully with all their heart and soul, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.”
    1 Kings 2:4 NLT

    No matter what the Lord and his promises he makes to us he will never fail. The Lord keeps his word and his promises, but if we fail our promises to the Lord nothing will come back. Let us focus on living for the Lord, focus on the purpose he created us here for. Let us obey his word and commandments keep our promises with him strong. And when we do all those God notices and will bless your lives daily no matter what. Give thanks unto God for he blesses us each day and never gives up on us.

  43. “If you do this, then the Lord will keep the promise he made to me. He told me, ‘If your descendants live as they should and follow me faithfully with all their heart and soul, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.’”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    He will always keep his promises no matter what. We must remain strong and steadfast no matter what. Read his word pray everyday and seek his face. The lord hears all and knows all. It may not come when we want but if we stand strong and hold on he will keep his promises. Stand strong and don’t give up!

  44. 4 That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

    If is a powerful word. If is full of potential and possibilities. If is conditional upon meeting the required to obtain the desired outcome. Many people find themselves wanting and claiming the promise but do not seek to obey the word or command. Yes God said it, and if God said it it shall be done, yet one must do his part in the obedience and walking in his ways. You cannot get out of the will of God, you cannot get out of church and still expect the blessings to overtake you. You cannot fool God, you will reap that which you sown.

  45. 2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;

    By David saying, be thou strong therefore and shew thyself a man. He was basically saying to Salomon, that the Lord can give thee wisdom and counsel, assistance and strength, protection, and defence; take heart therefore, and be of good courage. Always trust in the Lord.

  46. 46 So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

    There are times of advancement that things have to die before you can move on. Things that should have died along time ago are what hold people back from seeing what God has in store. Let our alt as r be the first thing we pass by each day so that we can be who we were meant to be.

  47. 43 Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the Lord, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?

    As this year comes to a near end and we can sit and think of this same question. Have we kept the oath of the Lord and His commandments? How am I going to present myself? Lord help me keep my oath and commandments. All the chaos and uncertainty around us, desires for us to cave in, to loose our sight in You Lord and our commitments. Don’t cave in instead let us stay faithful to our commitment to God. In Him all will be well, even in this times.

  48. “That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Knowing what happens next it is interesting to see how long God allows for there to be a king in Israel. God has grace, but grace doesn’t mean no consequences or God would be a liar. Grace means we have a period of time in which we can correct whatever before the “then” of the “if/then” statement occurs.

  49. 3 And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
    4 That the Lord may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

    King David gives Solomon words of advice to live and to rule by. He knows these things are true and hold a lot of weight because he has experienced it first hand. He has kept the commandments, God’s ways, his ways, and followed the law of Moses. But he also has had times in his life when he did not. He know what will go wrong if he did not lead and live his life by example. We should all live and lead by this words of advice and encouragement. No matter what position or role we have in the church. Outside of those four walls there is a lost a dying world looking to us to see how we react and how we handle ourselves in the tests that come each and every day. We may not see them watching, but they are. In every aspect of our lives, they are watching to see if we still exalt His name and follow the commandments and testimonies that we say we follow or if we turn another way and do what we or even they think is best.
