Psalm 119

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.

I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.

13 With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.

14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.

15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.

18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.

20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.

21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.

22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.

23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.

24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.

26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.

27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.

28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.

29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.

30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.

31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame.

32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.

36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

38 Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

39 Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.

40 Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

41 Let thy mercies come also unto me, O Lord, even thy salvation, according to thy word.

42 So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.

44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.

45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.

46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.

48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.

51 The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.

52 I remembered thy judgments of old, O Lord; and have comforted myself.

53 Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

54 Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

55 I have remembered thy name, O Lord, in the night, and have kept thy law.

56 This I had, because I kept thy precepts.

57 Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep thy words.

58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.

59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.

61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.

62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.

63 I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.

64 The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.

65 Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according unto thy word.

66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.

67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.

68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.

70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.

71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

74 They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.

75 I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

76 Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.

77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.

78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.

79 Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies.

80 Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.

81 My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.

82 Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

83 For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.

84 How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?

85 The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.

86 All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.

87 They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.

88 Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

  1. 32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.
34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

This reminds me of the scripture which speaks about how no man comes to the Lord unless the Lord draws him. Due to our fallan nature we cannot seek the Lord until he tugs at our heart string. This Psalm shows us that our walk with the Lord is a life long learning process. We need to grow in faith and our rightous relationship with our Savior.

  3. “Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, And I will [steadfastly] observe it to the end. Give me understanding [a teachable heart and the ability to learn], that I may keep Your law; And observe it with all my heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, For I delight in it. Incline my heart to Your testimonies And not to dishonest gain and envy.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:33-36‬ ‭AMP

    Hallelujah Jesus!

Do not allow my heart to be deceived! Lord that I will hold onto thy word. For your word feeds me, it gives me the nutrients needed to stay healthy and stay the course you have set before me.

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:11‬ ‭KJV

“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  4. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee
12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.

Psalm 119 covers the word of God in almost every verse, you can find references towards statutes, the word, instructions, decrees….etc. for years I thought the psalmist was referring to the Bible which we commonly identify as the word of God, until I realized during that time they did not have the Bible. It very well could be that they were just referencing that he was living off of the unctions that God gave him based upon his relationship. Verse 11 as always been my favorite, understanding that The closer you hold on to the promises and the word of God the Farther away you’re going to be separated away from sin. The more we clean to God, the more we’re going to understand his nature and the more we’re going to adapt and follow in it.

  5. Verses 65-72 MSG “Be good to your servant, God; be as good as your Word. Train me in good common sense; I’m thoroughly committed to living your way. Before I learned to answer you, I wandered all over the place, but now I’m in step with your Word. You are good, and the source of good; train me in your goodness. The godless spread lies about me, but I focus my attention on what you are saying; They’re bland as a bucket of lard, while I dance to the tune of your revelation. My troubles turned out all for the best—they forced me to learn from your textbook. Truth from your mouth means more to me than striking it rich in a gold mine.” Proverbs 22:6 AMP says “Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Do not be easily deterred from the blueprint that the Lord has laid out for you or you might find yourself wandering all over the place again! Listen for the voice of the Master and do not lose your focus; but rather seek truth as it will set you free as John 8:32 AMP says “And you will know the truth [regarding salvation], and the truth will set you free [from the penalty of sin].”

  6. This teaching for today touches on a whole lot of right ways of daily living. Lying, trusting, being able to hear the voice of God. One cannot hear the voice of God unless he is in tune to it, you and God have to have an established daily relationship or you can’t hear him. Also God says keep my commandments. First you have to read and seek God so you learn the importance and need to completely understand the commandments. I believe you live the commandments and just know them by their words and try to keep them.

  7. Psalm 119

There are few places sweeter than the secret places where I can hide in You and meditate on Your Word, Your Laws, Statutes, Decrees. Foundational Truths. God, it’s so sacred. Being able to curl up in Your arms and draw strength, courage, resolve from Your Word which is established throughout eternity.

  9. “Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, And I will [steadfastly] observe it to the end. Give me understanding [a teachable heart and the ability to learn], that I may keep Your law; And observe it with all my heart.”

Psa 119:5  O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

God wants and desires us to keep his ways. When we get outside of his will, we will always find ourselves in trouble. We need his word and that is why I’m thankful for this blog. It keeps us strong and allows us to see where we are

  11. Psalms 119:9 (KJV)
“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.”

    Psalms 119:9 (NLT)
“How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.”

Whether a person is young or older, the only way a person can cleanse his/her ways and stay pure (clean heart and right mind) is by TAKING HEED to and OBEYING God’s Word.

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.

There are many things that can influence us while on this journey. But there is only one thing that is forever settled and that will endure for ever, and that is the word of God. I find that if we read and obey the word of God, then there is nothing that will keep us from seeing our reward in the kingdom of God. The scripture states that out of the heart the mouth speaks. I not saying that we have to always walk around quoting scripture, but if we meditate on them daily, the we will guard not only our heart, mind, but also our mouth. We should want to be more like God in all that we do. The question is why can we not think before we speak. Living Jesus to give Jesus.

  13. Ps. 119 1-88 [34] Give me understanding, that I may keep Your statues, and I will observe it with my whole heart.
35] Make me go in the path of Your commandments, for in them do I delight.
Prov. 2: 6 [ amp] For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom, from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
God wants us to have his wisdom and knowledge for direction and guidness.
Reading your Bible will definitely give you better understanding.
Also being obeinant and willing to be his servant.
Give God the Glory and Honer.

  14. 71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

In all things, He gets the glory. Affliction may come, but if we are faithful and look to His Word, it will do a few things: it will always glorify Him, and it can teach us and strengthen us. Bless us with wisdom and understanding of Your Word Jesus, so in every situation we know how to follow after You.

An old song I use to sing cane to mind this morning.
Love Letters . God breathed upon man and inspired them to write the scriptures. Words of history, words of things to come , words of encouragement in the darkest hours . Each word breathed by God for us . If you’ve never read these Love Letters left for us just take a look at what an inspiration and even a fresh breath of air they can bring in the midst of your battles. His words are valuable and will strengthen and lead and guide you. Thank you Lord for the beauty of this Psalms.

  18. Numerous times in today’s passage it says “I have kept that laws” or “I have kept that commandments.”

This is the key to living successfully for the Lord. When we measure our actions and our life by His Word, and we commit His word to our heart, then it will lead and guide us. His Word forever stands and never changes therefore everyday if I measure what I do, what I say, how I respond by His word I will build my life upon a solid, sure foundation.

God – give me a love for your word that surpasses every other desire in my heart so that I can be successful in living an abundant, blessed life.

  26. It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
    Psalms 119:71 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.119.71.KJV

It’s sad to say, but sometimes it is the only way in which we humans seek the Lord. I’m reminded if the story of the 10 lepers. Only one came back to thank Him. Yet while they were being “afflicted” or had leprosy they all sought for his touch. We tend to be so “self-sufficient” and independent that we try and control and be our own God. And all He wants is for us to humble ourselves acknowledge and seek him. Most people dont seek for God unless the see the need for a god. We shouldn’t wait till its hurting and we ran out of options to seek a “Higher Power”. The time is now build a constant, committed, and intimate relationship now, that when the time comes when you need a savior He already knows your voice and is quick and ready to respond because you have gotten his favor.

  27. 16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

There is so much more in God than what we have seen this far. There are creative miracles, signs and wonders we don’t see just yet. There is deeper understanding of his word. We must desire to continue to grow in him as well as live it and give it to others – esp as we approach the end of the church age.

  28. 33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

We need to understand the laws of God with our whole heart and obey until the end

  29. Psalm 119:2

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

    Praise God!

    Hallelujah!!

  30. “Teach me your decrees, O Lord; I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:33-35‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Despite his delight and desire for God’s word, the Psalmist knows he cannot walk in God’s path without God’s empowering.

  31. Psalms 119:11,15
[11]I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.

I love your words oh Lord and studying them

    [15]I will study your commandments
        and reflect on your ways.

Jesus when people see us let them see a reflection of you in us.

    Thank you Jesus

  32. 33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.
34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Let us learn, understand and keep Gods word wholeheartedly. Doing so, will keep us away from the unrighteous path and bring us to have a closer relationship with God.

  33. “Blessed and favored by God are those who keep His testimonies, And who [consistently] seek Him and long for Him with all their heart.

Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart, That I may not sin against You.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:2, 11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Seek first the kingdom of god. No matter what we must always remember to seek him first. He is our refuge our strong tower. He will never steer us wrong. We gain strength and hope when we seek him. He loves us and cares for us. Let us know be afraid to go to him and to seek his face. He wants to be our teacher we just have to be willing to learn.

  34. 9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Oh how sweet is the word of God! It is knowledge of His word that keeps us from falling into sin. It is His word that is hidden in our hearts that causes us to be cautious enough in life not to over step the law of God. I’m in a journey to fall madly in love with His word that I may know Him more.

  35. 46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

The Psalmist has been made king by the Lord. Out of all his brothers and all austral for that matter, David, was chosen for his ability to praise God. He was a shepherd boy that knew what labor and serving was. David has served God throughout his entire life. Of course he made mistakes, but who doesn’t? All have sinned and fallen short to the glory of God. He knows that out God end his guidance is what the others nations and their kings are lacking. The Psalmist declares that he would speak to rulers about God and not be ashamed. He wants to know and understand more of Gods ways and law. His passion makes him a man after Gods own heart. David was ready for outreach before the book of Acts. This goes to show us that we should have the same fervency to speak of the goodness of Jesus.

  36. 5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

This verse reveals something about the psalmist. It reminds me of a times when I was on the wrong path. How sin had trapped me under its power. I felt enslaved and trapped, yearning to be in His presence, desiring to be reconciled with Him.

This is exactly why we need to live a evangelic life. So many people on the fringes wishing that there ways were directed by His statutes. This is where we have to set our hope. That we run into these hopeless people waiting for us to reach out.

Don’t live your life and forget those that want what you have. LIVE and GIVE Jesus!

  37. “Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands. As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should! I will obey your decrees. Please don’t give up on me!”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:6-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Are we living by how people want to see or how God see you. To show our love to Christ is to live like him. Learn how his words and how we should live.

  38. 15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

There is great reward in keeping His commandments. If we only understood the blessings that came with obedience, we would strive much harder to keep His law.

The Word says that obedience is better than sacrifice. We would be wise to adhere to that.

  39. 73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments

He created us by giving us existence and arranging existence he manifested love and wisdom; and therefore, this is the reasons I praise Him with confidence. He is the true one God. Jesus is his Name.

Alpha is Greek the rest is Hebrew except the last letter. This gives us the break down of each letter.

1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.
7 I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
8 I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

  41. “I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:26‬ ‭KJV

What have we declared to the Lord? That we would follow His Word and live a righteous life? That we would seek Him with our whole heart? It’s important to remember the declarations we have made to the Lord- so we can keep our hearts pure and full of Him. I thank God that He gives us the choice to serve Him- we choose to praise Him, to submit ourselves to Him. I pray we declare for all of our days that we will follow His Word and we will seek Him with our whole heart.

  42. “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:97-99‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The word of God is amazing. It draws me closer to him. It gives me wisdom. It shows me that way of truth. Oh how I love that law.

  43. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

I didn’t understand this scripture until I had more of the word in me but when I started to really get into the word of God, and really absorb it, it as like a flashing red light or a loud horn in my spirit when sun was available. When a thought would come in my head to do something or say something I shouldn’t, scriptures would read through my mind, and I would turn the other way. Now we live this lifestyle, it is as if the scripture keeps an alert out for sin, it keeps a feeler out and nudges me when it gets close. You cannot live a victorious life without the word of God.

  44. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.

Have you hid his word in your heart?? Some may say that blogging in unimportant, however, clear as day here it reads that this helps with sinning against Him. Simply by hiding His word in your heart, simply reading the Word, simply studying the scripture.

13 With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.

I love the parallel in these two verses. With lips you can declare judgements, rejoice in people’s testimonies, the choice is up to you. What do you decide to speak with your mouth??

  45. Este nos habla de cuidar tus leyes y hacer tu VOLUNTAD tratando todos los Dias de engrandecerte con mis ayudas mis actos hacia mi hermano y projimo. Gracias senor JESUS.

  46. 22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.

23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.

It’s a known fact that people are gonna talk. It’s just like everyone has a nose but most opinions or assumptions stink. King David, had plenty of family drama. Princes of his own flesh and blood turn against him. Probably other nations princes spoke against him too. All the while, David , stood as a great example of a man after God’s own heart because he turns his woes into praise. Everyone is in a different place in their relationship with God be it strong or weak. We should continue to pray and lift up those lashing out because even lions can get a thorn stuck in its paw.

The Psalmist leaves us with ways to approach God and tough situations. He desperately wants to keep Gods commands to the point that he chooses to meditate on Gods statues than to lash back. This could be taken as an act of weakness by an enemy but like Napoleon Bonaparte said “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.” Much the same way correcting a fool makes us foolish. If we concentrate on following God and focusing on His Word then these things won’t hinder us. For, great peace have they that love the Law and nothing shall offend them. God will take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it for good.

  47. As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should! I will obey your decrees. Please don’t give up on me! (‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭7-8‬ NLT)

I’m forever His student. And ever learning His ways. And even through making mistakes He has NEVER rejected me. Thank Jesus for never giving up on me.
