1 Kings 3

1 And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the Lord, until those days.

And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

15 And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

16 Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

19 And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

22 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

23 Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

  1. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

Whether we have wealth, no opponents, or a long life, all of those things can be thwarted by making bad decisions. As we walk with the Lord we should strive to grow in knowledge and understanding.

  2. God appeared to Solomon in 1 Kings 3,9. Solomon had asked for a discerning heart to govern his people and to distinguish between right and wrong. This unselfish request pleased God, who then promised Solomon wisdom, wealth and a long life. Solomon’s father King David taught Solomon well. David loved our Lord and had taught his son Solomon to do the same. We must all try to teach whom we can of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord for this day.

  3. Verses 9-14 MSG “Here’s what I want: Give me a God-listening heart so I can lead your people well, discerning the difference between good and evil. For who on their own is capable of leading your glorious people?” God, the Master, was delighted with Solomon’s response. And God said to him, “Because you have asked for this and haven’t grasped after a long life, or riches, or the doom of your enemies, but you have asked for the ability to lead and govern well, I’ll give you what you’ve asked for—I’m giving you a wise and mature heart. There’s never been one like you before; and there’ll be no one after. As a bonus, I’m giving you both the wealth and glory you didn’t ask for—there’s not a king anywhere who will come up to your mark. And if you stay on course, keeping your eye on the life-map and the God-signs as your father David did, I’ll also give you a long life.” Solomon asked for a God-listening heart that could discern between good and evil. There are many shapes and forms to evil and you have to be able to discern between what is from God and what isn’t. If we stay focused on the Master and follow his commandments, He will give you that mature heart (mind) and even throw in a little bonus!! Thank you Lord.

  4. 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

If we need anything in this world it is the absolute wisdom of God to make the right decisions in these trying times. If I’ve learned anything in my walk with God it is not about being on Earth to obtain or to rule or really to even do anything at all but our journey in life is to draw closer to God and every decision we make we need his guidance. We are literally hopeless without it. Whether is working a job, raising our kids, paying bills, or doing anything at all we need God’s direction and all that we do so that he may receive Glory and that our decisions have the fruition God intended it to be. Everything else can be helpful but eventually it fades but wisdom is what we need

  5. When all Israel heard the king’s decision, the people were in awe of the king, for they saw the wisdom God had given him for rendering justice.
    1 Kings 3:28 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/1ki.3.28.NLT

God will grant wisdom to make the decisions when the time is right. Stay close and have faith that God will lead us and give wisdom.

  6. This story is amazing to me about the two ladies single with children. With no modern tests no nothing the king knew who’s child it was by their actions. This also shows the extent of Solomans justice. Even though these women were considered lowlifes they got a fair hearing from the king.

  7. 7 “Now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.

9 Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?””
    ‭‭
Solomon had just offered God 1000 burnt offerings on the altar. So when the Lord appeared to him in a dream that night his head and heart was in the right place. Because he had been so focused on the Lord he didn’t ask for material things or great power. But ask for an understanding heart and discernment between good and evil. Our main focus daily should be on the Lord’s will.

  8. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
A PERSONAL REQUEST THAT PLEASES GOD

9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

Most of us when we have a personal prayer request, we pray for favor, health or wealth in some form. These are valid personal requests. But, we learn from this passage what speech or prayer that pleases GOD.

Understanding and Wisdom is of incomparable value to the follower of JESUS. We often make judgements based on feeling, perception or sight. These are always good indicators, but the wisdom of GOD knows all of these in depth.

GO ahead and PRAY that prayer at your next opportunity, pray for UNDERSTANDING and WISDOM and GOD will give you the desires of your heart.

12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

  9. 1 Kings 3-9-12 [ amp] So give Your servant an understanding mind and a hearing heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and bad. For who is able to judge and rule this Your great people
10] Its pleased the Lord that Soloman had asked this .
11] God said to him, Because you have asked this and have asked this and have not asked for long life or for riches, nor for the lives of your enemies , but have asked for yourself understanding to recognize what is just and right.
12] Behold, I have done as you asked, I have done as you asked, I have given you a wise, discerning mind, so that no one before you was your equal , nor shall any arise after you equal to you.
We need mainly to focus ourselves on The Lord will.
    His word
Keep his statutes and his commandments.
It pleases God to do his will.
    Ask and You will receive.
I bless you in the name of Jesus.

  10. 1 Kings 3

  11. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

Unlike any king that sat on the throne, Solomon asked God for understanding and discernment so that he could be an effective leader. God told Solomon because he didn’t ask for the typical things such as power, riches, his enemies’ lives, God blessed him with all those things and even extended his life.

I have found living for God, so many people want to ask for the moon and never receive it, but if we ask for the small things God will usually bless us beyond our deserving. We have to place the kingdom first in our lives and then we will reap the blessings of God. This is a hard principle for many to learn. There is so much that we contend with that brings chaos and turmoil in our lives, but God is the giver of peace and love. He will give us exactly what we need and then bless us with much more than we needed. What and easy principle to grasp by putting God first above everything. Living Jesus is allowing this principle to operate in your life. But giving Jesus is the result of obeying the principle. The church needs to obey the word to be the refuge of many that God is sending in this end time harvest.

  12. The wisdom of Solomon has always intrigue me. He asked for nothing from God but how to lead .
Live Give Jesus 2 . Solomon reigned with knowledge and true wisdom. Unselfishly serving with no expectations and God blessed him. Lord help us to be pleasing to You as we come before You making requests that will sincerely reflect Your Glory . Wisdom to lead others to the Kingdom with compassion as You have . Knowledge of Your word to share daily.

  13. 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto the

Wisdom and an understanding heart is better than riches because riches could deceive the heart and mind into thinking we have no need of God.

  14. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

Solomon was seeking the Kingdom first and therefore God honored His word and gave him what he requested and much more. If we will seek durst God and His ways, the blessings of the Lordwill follow.

  15. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

If we will seek durst God and His ways, the blessings of the Lord will follow.

  16. 1 Kings Chapter 3
9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

Solomon said that was is right before the Lord and the Lord answered and King Solomon became the wisest Man on earth. There is one that is greater and that is Jesus. Seek his face while you find it.

    Pro 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
We also need seek understanding. Which is wisdom and Understanding.

Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Pro 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Let us seek Wisdom that we may please the Lord.

  17. 3:9 give thy for your servant an understanding heart
To judge the people, that I may discern between god and evil, for who is able to judge this thy so great people?

    That is it!!
And understanding heart and to be able to discern.
Great petition for such a time.
Same need we have in these days.
He could have ask for his future family, or maybe for success, but instead he ask for the very important a as and so needed things. Something someone can not give. Only God.
    Hallelujah.
Yes Lord, I also pray for understanding and discernment in my life. Also I pray for my children
    ( same thing)

  18. Thank you Jesus Christ for today , thy kingdom come thy will be done

And if you follow me and obey my decrees and my commands as your father, David, did, I will give you a long life.”
    1 Kings 3:14

  19. 1 Kings 3:9-10, 12 & 28
    9) Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that i may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
    10) And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.

    12) Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

    28) And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king : for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgement.

When king Solomon asked God to give him an understanding heart to judge the people and to discern between good and bad, he was basically asking God to give him wisdom.
Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise. (Understanding, insight, perception, discernment).
His request pleased God, and God gave him wisdom.
If we need wisdom, James 1: 5 says, “If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
All we have to do is ask, and He will give it to us.
We need MORE Wisdom today than ever before.

  20. “Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As I grow in leadership and learn more and more about what it takes to be a leader, I realize there are some qualities where if you don’t have them you aren’t a leader. Two of these are humility and selflessness. Solomon demonstrated these when He asked God for help because as a leader he didn’t want to lead God’s people astray. He put his own desires aside and sought after what was good for God and the body. I thank God for the lessons, the statutes, the commandments he has provided for us in ahis Word. I pray we exhibit these qualities in our everyday lives to ensure we live and give Jesus.

  21. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
1Ki 3:2 Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

Wow, I’ve never noticed this before, but check out this verse. The people sacrificed in high places “because” there wasn’t a temple. This (in my opinion) shows me humans will sacrifice to something (if not to God).

Some folks throw a fit about paying tithes, but know of a certainty that if you didn’t pay tithes, that money would be spent on an idol in a high place.

  22. 1 Kong’s 3

    9) Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

    12) Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there is none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

    28) And all Israel heard of the judgement which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgement.

    Praise the Lord God!!

    Hallelujah!!!

  23. 14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

The Lord is in control of your tomorrows. He hold your future and none should be afraid to live in the present neither be stuck in the past.

The words of Jesus in the book of Matthew puts it this way:
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
    Matthew 6:34 NKJV

God is the one that gives life. And he knows when and how long you will have. Live for him, walk in his ways honor thy father and mother as the commandment says and you shall have length of days.

  24. “That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”

Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?””
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3:5, 9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Ask and it shall be given unto you. Three simple letters with such great power. God asked what he wanted and all he simply asked for was understanding. Solomon wanted to be a great leader and knew that he couldn’t do it on his own and so he asked for wisdom. Solomon was honest with himself and was able to ask for what he needed. Solomon could have been quiet and allowed pride to get in the way but he knew he needed help from god and so he asked. I pray we are able to come boldly before the lord and do this one simple word and ASK!

  25. 14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

This is where so many of us miss it. We all too often fail to keep statutes commandments, or walk in His ways. We do things out of convenience, for entertainment or to serve our selfish purposes. When we turn from our ways, and walk in His ways, we give Jesus an opportunity to do more for us than we could have ever dreamed, and to use us to reach souls for His Kingdom.

  26. 3 And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

It’s going to take loving the Lord to make it through the tough times in life. Solomon loved God and God took care of him. When you love the Lord, you will be willing to lay aside what you want to do what God wants. God is able to bring you through every situation.

  27. 3 And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

Solomon learned to follow the Lord’s statues and to love the Lord as King David did. King David taught Solomon well. We too, as parents need to instill in our children God’s statues. So the day that we are gone, they too follow the Lord wisely and wholeheartedly.

  28. 26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

Many women willingly place their children in divide situations. Strung out on drugs and other addictions would rather allow children to be brought up with dividehomes, mindsets, and emotions than to change for the better. Just what if the real birth mother was the one that would rather divide the child? (I’m not saying it was just a scenario)

Motherhood is not always about blood but about sacrifice. A good mother would sacrifice the world to see her children emotionally/ spiritually whole, wanting for nothing, and stable in life.

It is hard to see a birth parent sacrifice a child for their own needs yet we must understand that this is often passed down from their treatment as a child. So be loving yet stern patient yet willing to hold to accountability. After all the most fragile soul in the scenario is the child that is being molded.

  29. 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

God give me understanding of your word so I can know you better.

-Jacob Hernandez I love you all 🙂

  30. 7 “Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 11 So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. 14 And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.”

In this chapter Solomon was not thinking about wealth and himself, but he wanted a whole heart to seek aGod himself. We must be willing to seek God with our whole heart before anything else. God deserves and loves to hear your voice, so when you pray to him he loves that! SEEK GOD WITH YOUR WHOLE HEART!!!❤️❤️❤️

  31. “And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.”
    1 Kings 3:25-27 KJV

Both mothers are talking and the king has to figure out who the real mother is. The mother uses one little phrase that the theft doesn’t use and she said. O Lord we have the Holy Ghost, that the enemy doesn’t have. We got word that the devil can’t use. We ought give praises to God daily. So the baby is taken away from the theft and return unto the rightful owner.

  32. I Kings 3:14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

Psalm 13:6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
Psalm 116:5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

  33. “I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life!”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3:12-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Once we have put God first in our lives he will bless you mores for your integrity and love for Him. Let put God first in our life’s and his commandments as well.

  34. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

Solomon asked for wisdom and was not thinking about himself and God was very pleased that he did not ask for riches and a long life.God was so pleased he gave him wisdom , riches , And if Solomon obeyed his statutes he would have a long life. This proves when you please God he will give you more than you ask for

  35. Knowing Him is the key to all knowledge

9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

These two scriptures are one in the same for me, you cannot have one without the other. Solomon asked for understanding. Paul was just wanting to know him. You cannot have spiritual understanding without knowing him and you cannot truly know him without gaining spiritual understanding. That you pastor fir the word tonight, if I can have the mind of Christ, to know him and assert the power that has been freely given to me not only understanding would come but the fruits of the spirit as well. If I could know him more, the rest would follow.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭111:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  36. 14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

If we could only understand, that if we walk in His ways, we will not only be prosperous, but He will add to our days if we are observant of His commandments. Now that’s good news to, so I want to do what’s right all to be prosperous and live a long life. Praise God 🙏

  37. God granted the request of the lips of Solomon for mind of understanding (wisdom). Because he wasn’t requesting for selfish reasons nor for any kind of gain. But, God still with wealth and honor! Then Solomon judged righteously for the two prostitutes and the living child. Solomon showed great wisdom because no good mother would allow her child to be killed! She rather have her baby live in the arms of another woman than see her baby destroyed.

    “Stay Safe and God bless”….,,,,,

  38. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

May i sube the heart of Solomon all the days of my life. That my life my reflect this very passion for Gods people.

I don’t even know anything, please Jesus give me an understanding to shepherd your people.

  39. Solomon had wisdom, except with ladies in his own house. I wonder if that is because h took his own ladies in verse one and then obtained this great wisdom in verse 11 & 12. God didn’t magically cure Solomon. He still had to deal with that it high he had. Just gave him wisdom for everything that came after that.

  40. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

Seek wisdom and understanding. It is greater than any silver or gold. It will keep you and guide you. Thank You Lord for the opportunity to walk with the mind of Christ!

  41. 7 “Now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.

“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭12:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is blessing in serving the Lord or being a servant in general. It’s an act of humility and that’s how we eliminate pride. Jesus said to humble yourselves and pray. Submitting your will your way and sacrificing your plans to serve for the kingdom of God. People will find themselves stagnant with their relationship with Jesus but they don’t take initiative to sacrifice in serving!

  43. 5That night the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”

As easy as this, just ask and it shall be given. There is nothing difficult about asking God for your needs. If you can ask a friend or relative for needs, you surely can ask God.

  44. “The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. So God replied, “Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies— I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life! And if you follow me and obey my decrees and my commands as your father, David, did, I will give you a long life.” Then Solomon woke up and realized it had been a dream. He returned to Jerusalem and stood before the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant, where he sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then he invited all his officials to a great banquet.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3:10-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬
God not only answered Solomon’s prayer, He also answered it beyond all expectation. Solomon did not ask for riches and honor or a long life, but God gave him those also.

  45. 3 And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

I love this story, especially this part where it states that Solomon loves the Lord and following in the footsteps of his father, David, “. . . Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.” There is a lot to be said about this one simple passage.

4 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

The lord appeared to Solomon in a dream and asked one simple question, “. . . Ask what I shall give thee.” Today and everyday God is asking that same thing to us in prayer, in supplication, and in our actions and how we serve Him and His commandment, “. . . what I shall give thee?” Will you respond as Solomon did and ask for the wisdom to lead and guide your life?? Or will you ask for something else?? Will you pray His will in you and your family’s life everyday? What will your response be to His question, “. . . Ask what I shall give thee?”

  46. “Solomon answered, “You have been very kind to my father David, your servant. That’s because he was faithful to you. He did what was right. His heart was honest. And you have continued to be very kind to him. You have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day. “Lord my God, you have now made me king. You have put me in the place of my father David. But I’m only a little child. I don’t know how to carry out my duties. I’m here among the people you have chosen. They are a great nation. They are more than anyone can count. So give me a heart that understands. Then I can rule over your people. I can tell the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Who can possibly rule over this great nation of yours?””
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3:6-9‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Lord, I need wisdom and a heart of understanding. Let your word lead and guide me each and everyday.

  47. 1 Kings 3
28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

As we are about our father’s business we must understand our gifting’s and callings. Most of us do not know what they are. Why did Jesus place me on earth. It is not only the Five fold callings ministry only but much more. The word says that we are fit in the body of Christ and have been fitted with the body of Christ so the body lacks nothing. King Solomon was fitted also as a king and then was given Wisdom . As we have read Solomon also gave positions and jobs to those of the tempol so all the needs of the tempol was all covered and functioning.
