Song of Solomon 1

The song of songs, which is Solomon’s.

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.

Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.

Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.

Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.

Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?

If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents.

I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots.

10 Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.

11 We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.

12 While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.

13 A bundle of myrrh is my well-beloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.

14 My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi.

15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes.

16 Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.

17 The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.

  1. 5 I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

We are made in His image!!! It doesn’t matter what color is our skin, we were made to look exactly like Jesus!!! We are to reflect His Goodness and Mercy as we continue our journey here on earth. We MUST be humble and we MUST pray for our Nation for the wicket goes about to see who can he devour. May Jesus heal our land and our hearts in Jesus Name Amen 🙏🏻

  2. Song of Solomon 1

1 The song of songs, which is Solomon’s.

Have you ever had someone get mad at you for taking care of yourself because they thought you needed to be taken care of their stuff more. They were angry because you didn’t prioritize them over yourself? That’s what this first reminds me of. When people have certain expectations of you that take away from when you’re supposed to take care of yourself and they are upset when you don’t put them first. There’s a time and a place to take care of others needs but you and your family must be priority above other people’s expectation. I’m not sure Solomon was referring to this principle but it’s what came to mind whatever I read that part. We live in a very narcissistic society that we need to guard ourselves from

  4. I LOVE Song of Solomon for two main reasons. First it depicts the beauty of the intimate relationship between a man and wife. Intimacy in marriage is a form of worship to God because you’re fulfilling a deep connection that He created that only man and wife can fulfill in that intimacy.
Second it depicts the relationship between us and God needs to be. We can flirt with God, enjoy His beauty and Majesty, and when we go into the secret places of prayer we are deeply intimate with Him.
Glory to God. This is definitely one of my favorites.

  5. 7. Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?

    Whom my soul loveth…
Actions speak louder than words, and God can tell whom our soul loveth, and responds in kind.

    Matthew 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  6. 3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.

“Your Name like sweet perfume, oh Lord, poured upon my soul.” Cover us today Jesus; there’s no sweeter name than Your Name! Today, we will seek You first, as our first love, because no one compares to You Jesus!

  7. Song of Soloman 1: 4 [ amp] Draw me! We will run after you! The king brings me into his apartment! We will be glad and rejoice in you! We will recall
[ when we were favored with ] your love , more fragrant than wine. The upright [ are not offended at your choice , But sincerely ] love you.
Matt. 22: 37-38 [ amp] And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind.
[38] This is the great ( most important, principal) and first commandment.
This chapter is about a Love story .
But I love Jesus and his love.

  8. Song of Solomon 1:1
“The song of songs, which is Solomon’s.”

This verse reminded me of 1 Kings 4:32 which we read a few days ago. “And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.”

  9. 7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?

This is the setting of the bride or the church telling the bridegroom or God just how much they are in love with Him. Here we see the exclaim of joy and happiness that He feeds the bride together with the entire church and not spread them out. I find that each of us have a duty or a commandment to express our love for Jesus Christ in all that we do, because he showed a much greater love for us when he came to earth and became the lamb for sacrifice for each of our sins. There comes a time where we have to give back to Him or we will not be a part of the bridal party when he calls them home. We have to approach him boldly and seek him while he can be found. There is not much time left to get close to the Lord and we do not want to miss the opportunity.

  10. This is a love story to compare to how much God loves us and our response should be the same love for him. No greater love is there when Jesus gave his life to save us.

  11. Song of Solomon 1:4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the King hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

King Matthew 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

  12. 9 I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots.

The Lord loves his body of believers and he wants us to know that He see us in the highest regard.

  13. Some say this song is about marital love but others believe it Is a song about the love between the bride ( the church) and the bridegroom (our God). In Matthew Henry’s commentary he describes it as ‘seraphic’ love meaning pure, innocent, celestial, holy or heavenly…. M Henry describes the duties of Solomon as king as very demanding and time consuming yet he finds the personal time to write songs or poetry. Which means to me that we all can find time to set aside and worship and love our heavenly father; find that secret place in Him and feel his great and holy love.

  14. “The Song of Songs [the best of songs], which is Solomon’s.”
    ‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I have learned that you never allow the enemy to steal your song. No matter what life brings to you. You’ll always can ‘raise a HALLELUJAH!’ Remember this The love of your KING has awakened you with a kiss as He has extended His forgiveness, mercy, and most of all His.

    ‘I will sing Hallelujah!’

“O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth. Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭96:1-2‬ ‭KJV

  15. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    LOVE

7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?

This chapter is primarily about the natural relationship between a man and a woman. We can however glean from the passionate words that reveal the love and desire for relationship.

The point that sticks out to me is the fact that there was a desire to know where the beloved was at all times.

    MSG

7 Tell me where you’re working
    —I love you so much—
Tell me where you’re tending your flocks,
where you let them rest at noontime.
Why should I be the one left out,
outside the orbit of your tender care?

This demonstrates the LOVE JESUS has for us and it should also reveal the LOVE we have for JESUS. Where are you working today JESUS? Where are you feeding today JESUS? Where can I find you in the middle of the day JESUS? Where can I find you, I must know where you are.

Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

This LOVE is revealed by the Holy Ghost.

  16. 4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

The Spirit of God is drawing us every day, will we answer? He draws us to spend time intimately with Him. He draws us to people who have needs that we can minister to, He draws us to go deeper, to be stretched spiritually.

Our love for Him should intensify with passion each day.

  17. Kiss me—full on the mouth!
Yes! For your love is better than wine,
    headier than your aromatic oils.
The syllables of your name murmur like a meadow brook.
No wonder everyone loves to say your name!
4 Take me away with you! Let’s run off together!
    An elopement with my King-Lover!
    We’ll celebrate, we’ll sing,
    we’ll make great music.
Yes! For your love is better than vintage wine.
Everyone loves you—of course! And why not?

    Jesus our Bridegroom
Oh how I love your name there is no other name with great power ! His name is so important. Why would we refuse to be baptized in His name if we are to be His bride ? I was proud to wear the name of my husband as I am proud to wear the name of Jesus Christ .

You oh God are an awesome awesome God.
Take me into Your presence I want to be with You.
This first chapter of Song of Songs as some call it ; is a
a very alluring moment . The woman is asking for the kiss. She longs to run away with this man she so much desires.
Don’t be afraid to read this book. Pure love comes from God . I believe Solomon writes this book to inspire not only the natural realm of the union of a husband and wife but oh more so the union of the Church the Bride of Christ to the return of Jesus Christ for His bride.
If our passion for Jesus is so great it will bring us daily into His presence . Longing to communicate with Him. To read His words to take time to dwell in His presence. And soon be caught away to be with Him forever.
My dad use to quote a scripture pure and unadulterated word of God.
There is beauty within the unity of marriage and oh how beautiful is the relationship with God.
In His Presence there is fullness of joy.

  18. ““Tell me, O you whom my soul loves, Where do you pasture your flock, Where do you make it lie down at noon? For why should I be like one who is veiled Beside the flocks of your companions?””
    ‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

There’s quite a bit of “Nuggets of Truth” in this chapter. Of course we know this is a story of a natural marriage but we can glean spiritual aspects as well. The one thing that stuck out to me was, the persistence of the woman seeking the man. She’s asking where are you going to be? Where are you going to be on your break at noon time? Why should I be in the dark of where you’re going to be and others know where you are? And for my spiritual aspect that should be with the church (the bride) is seeking God (the groom ). The bride should be asking the groom where are you at today Jesus? Where are you going to be working, where are the miracles signs and wonders going to be? Because we want to be there.

  19. 7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?

God is love and those who love him will worship him in spirit and in truth.

  20. 1:4 draw me we will run after thee
: the king had brought me into his chambers
We will be glad and rejoice in thee
We will remember thy love w than wine
    The upright love thee.

There is where I what to be. No place I’ve rather be
    Than in his love.
    🙏

  21. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
Well…it’s scriptures like these that make it pleasant to be married😂. God took us into the Kingdom and despite the fact we were not of the lineage of royalty, he accepted us and put us into the Kingdom. Notice this scripture, “…they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept”. This lady was not of royalty but was in fact a servant. She had no right to even be considered into the Kingdom, but the King had other plans. Just like us, the Gentiles. Thank You Jesus.

  22. 4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

The meaning of intimacy is to be close; familiar and have a friendship with the one you love. The more and more I thought of this scripture it reminds me when I was a newlywed, you have to learn to communicate and how to “give and take”! It’s not easy navigating each other’s moods and just learning to live and tolerate each other on daily basis… and that can negatively affect a marriage.

God desires us to have an intimate relationship with Him. We must feed ourselves His word everyday and submit ourselves to His authority.

  23. 7 Tell me, my love, where are you leading your flock today?

Men, where are you leading your family? Lead them in the ways of God. Then let your actions show, that you are leading your family to God.

  24. “Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.” Song of Solomon 1:4

I love our Lord and reading these scriptures are always great. They remind me of how much others have loved and still love our Lord. We should continually love Jesus and praise Him as all we have is because of Him. Thank you Lord Jesus for this day!

  25. Verse 3 CEV “and you smell so sweet. All the young women adore you; the very mention of your name is like spreading perfume.” 2 Corinthians 2:14 AMP says “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us spreads and makes evident everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Him.” Same verse ERV “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in victory through Christ. God uses us to spread his knowledge everywhere like a sweet-smelling perfume.” It is time for us to get back to our first love, Jesus, as He will guide you and use you to spread the knowledge of Him.

  26. 3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.

There is no greater name than the name of Jesus. When His name is spoken, things are changed, lives are healed and hope is found.

But what comes to people’s mind when your name is spoken? What taste does it leave behind?

I pray that Jesus can be attached to my name!

  27. “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine. Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.”
    ‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭1:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬
The name of Christ is not now like ointment sealed up, but like ointment poured forth.

  28. 7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?

In this chapter what came to my mind was that we should have a good relationship with God as Solomon has with his lover.

  29. 3 How pleasing is your fragrance; your name is like the spreading fragrance of scented oils. No wonder all the young women love you!
    Songs of Solomon 1:3 NLT

There is no other name greater or sweeter than yours o Lord! I give thanks unto you forever for you bless my life and heart daily no matter what you bring light into my darkest points and give me strength in my battles. Let us speak the word of the Lord to those that are lost in this wicked world, let us show them that they have a loving father that will protect them and save them all day everyday no matter what. Let us guide them into the loving arms of the Lord and the beautiful everlasting life with him.

  30. “Draw me away with you and let us run together! Let the king bring me into his chambers.” “ We will rejoice and be glad in you; We will remember and extol your love more [sweet and fragrant] than wine. Rightly do they love you.””
    ‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭AMP‬‬

God wants a relationship with us. In order for this to happen we have to be willing to put in the effort. We have to be willing to pray and worship his name. We can’t have a deeper relationship if we aren’t putting in no effort. God loves us and will always love us but we have to do our part. No matter what life’s situations may throw at us we must remain committed to him.

  31. “Tell me, my love, where are you leading your flock today? Where will you rest your sheep at noon? For why should I wander like a prostitute among your friends and their flocks?

How beautiful you are, my darling, how beautiful! Your eyes are like doves.”
    ‭‭Song of Songs‬ ‭1:7, 15‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/sng.1.7,15.nlt

The most important thing is leadership in a relationship.See how your partner will treat a flock will they love and show the flock the word of God? What God see beautiful is what I see beautiful like leadership, compassion for people, and a disre for God. I pray that we treat our flocks with care and love by showing them the word of God.

  32. ‘Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee. ‘

    Song of Solomon 1:4

Draw your church to your truth and we shall grab hold of your word and well seek after you continually to see kingdom advancement. Lord, you are good! for you have saved and delivered the church people you are our protector, our healer, our savior, and our firm foundation that can’t be shaken. And your people will rejoice and testify of your great and marvelous works. I’m persuaded that nothing shall separate us from the love of God which is Christ Jesus our Lord and I praise the Lord for love His towards me and to everyone.

  33. A strong house.

17 The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.

When you build your house together unto the Lord, nothing can come between you. The closer you get to Jesus the closer he is to you . Too many marriages are failing because they are building with the wrong materials.

  34. 2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.

It is better to have lived and loved than to have never loved at all. God made man and then Women because we needed companionship he need someone on equal playing field to love and do life with. We should all desire to love so deeply and faithfully that if for someone reason we are gone we are missed. Love to passionate that their will be no regrets at the end of life.

  35. 4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

The song of songs… many have dedicated their lives to write songs about love. Song of lack of love or how a love has hurt them. Song of Solomon. The only book in the bible that does not make a clean mention of God or the name Jesus. It’s simply… a love affair. The fact is that it’s an issue of love. A love relationship is what God wants from you. Love is the strongest force that exists. For God so Loved the world that He gave…. The issue in this world is love. Lack of love, and abuse of and twist of it. As it explains in the bible that in the last the because iniquity shall abound the Love of many shall wax cold. Literally a force that drives you to do anything. God gave me a little revelation a couple of years ago while I sought him and studied for something I was preparing. The bible tells us in the book of 1st John that God is love. Going through some personal situations and looking at my personal life on things that had happened and in was doing… the Lord simply asked me, “what are you doing here Jonathan?” To which I said, well Lord…you know. He asked again what are you doing here, why are you here? Then He began to deal with my heart and through scripture began to talk to me of all he has done for me. And all that He really loved me. And he made me realize my actions. Had a long day at work, I was extremely tired, but somehow I managed to get the force, stamina, energy strength to do or be at wherever/whatever I ended up doing. Then he allowed me to make a connection between love and strength dropping scriptures in my mind. I can do all things through Love which strengtheneth me. And that is exactly why God is after our hearts. He is after out love. Becuase when you really love someone you don’t care, don’t count the cost, you don’t mind the pain… you give and do it all for the one you love. Our greatest example of this kind of love our Lord Jesus who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross despising the shame… since the beginning it has been an issue of Love.

  36. 14 My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi.

As a cluster of campfire, meaning that as believers, we must have the grace of God in our heart, it ought to show itself in our daily walk in our life. Let Christ shine in us.

  37. ““To me, my love, you are like My [favorite] mare among the chariots of Pharaoh.”
    ‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Oh the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God! He has shown us a love no man, woman, or possession could give. I thank God that I was bought with a price. I pray we encourage ourselves and remind ourselves we are loved by the Almighty!

  38. “Tell me, my love, where are you leading your flock today? Where will you rest your sheep at noon? For why should I wander like a prostitute among your friends and their flocks?”
    ‭‭Song of Songs‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/sng.1.7.nlt
    Let’s be faithful.
It’s obvious how the Lord feels when we’re not faithful to his Kingdom. I pray we each see with eyes of Jesus and feel with his heart each day as we grow with him.

  39. 9 I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots.

What is you relationship with God worth? Is it more or equivalent than something in royalty or nobility? For there is none greater, none larger, and none like Him!!

  40. 2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.

Beautiful words!!! Beautiful and pure love is even more beautiful when you have come to the knowledge of WHOM you are loved by!!!
