Proverbs 15

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

11 Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

14 The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

16 Better is little with the fear of the Lordthan great treasure and trouble therewith.

17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

20 A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

21 Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.

22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

25 The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.

26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

29 The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.

31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

  2. In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble. ……….. . I see this as saying God has allowed you many gifts if you live and do right but trouble comes to those who choose wrong and wicked ways. Live Jesus Give Jesus

  3. “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.

The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, And before honor is humility.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:3, 33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You can’t hide from God. He sees everything.
Just because you have knowledge of the Lord does not make you a wise person. You must also fear the Lord. Remember, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

  4. 1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

I’m currently reading a book about how the brain responds to certain things and how it can heal and become better. It breaks down the chemical reaction and the neuropathways in how they react to particular ways of thinking. There’s a chapter on brain power and how each time you say no to something you really like or resist the urge to do something you want to do pathways are formed in the brain that train it to respond similarly the next time. Someone gave me this scripture long ago when I was dealing with a very cruel some person and it taught me how to be gentle when I was angry. All throughout the Bible you see examples of resisting the flesh and the importance of doing what is right over doing what is felt. I wholeheartedly believe that God designed us to be able to able to have that capacity and how are actions and thinking operate. The more we are able to resist urges the stronger we become mentally and spiritually

  5. 16 Better is little with the fear of the Lordthan great treasure and trouble therewith.

The old song says “little is much when God us in it”

I am a firm believer that if you have to obtain riches at the cost of your salvation if your family, choose little and allow the blessings a d favor if God to be with you . If you lose your salvation and your family over wealth, what have you profitted? You can’t take it with you when you go. However your soul a d the soul of your family lives forever. Choose wisely.

  6. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    WISDOM

31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

LIFE in JESUS is the result of WISDOM. WISDOM is best demonstrated through understanding what is the WILL of JESUS and submitting to fulfill it.

The Kingdom of GOD has afforded the 5 fold Ministry to speak to the church and has given us Pastors or Shepherds to guide, assist, instruct and correct us. Receiving this correction, King Solomon considers WISDOM. None of us like to hear when we are doing wrong, it is embarrassing and humiliating. But the fruit of it is WISDOM.

LIFE is about choices. I choose today to hear the reproof of LIFE and be WISE.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    IGo

  7. Proverbs 15:2 & 7
    2) The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
    7) The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

A wise person will use knowledge and disperse knowledge when they speak. They will think before they speak and choose their words wisely and carefully. Whereas a foolish person will usually blirt out just about anything that comes to mind.

    Tongue + Mouth + Lips = Heart.
The scripture says in St. Matt. 12:34, “… for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” and in St. Luke 6:45, “… for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”

So the question might be, “What’s in your heart today?”
Remember: Whatever you speak today comes from the heart.
So be wise, think before you speak, and choose your words wisely and carefully.

  8. Proverbs 15 The Message
    An intelligent person is always eager to take in more truth;
fools feed on fast-food fads and fancies.

    How is my spiritual appetite?
Do I live on fast food or do I take time to have dinner .
    What’s the difference?
As I began to think of my spiritual appetite I asked my self the question;am I living on fast food or am I having dinner with Jesus?

Someone recently asked me a question was it dinner or lunch? I began to think about the question .
A quick lunch with a friend can be fun but dinner sets a total different atmosphere.

Think about it . Lunch usually is a short period of time in the middle of work and is usually not as costly but when you sit down for dinner you hopefully are slowing your pace down to relax have some conversation and enjoy something that has been well prepared and if dining out is going to cost you more than lunch .

If applied to my spiritual walk am I asking Jesus to lunch or am I taking the time to have dinner with Him?
Spiritual hunger an appetite for God has to take time .
This verse says fools have a diet of fast food ,fads and fancies . If we are feeding ourself continuously by just reading a chapter in the Bible to say I’ve read , and say a quick prayer or I read a daily devotional or listen to a 30 second inspiration just to stop the spiritual hunger pain how will I survive?

Oh you might survive on life of fast food but that’s just it survival mode . Jesus said Come and Dine ….

Setting an atmosphere for dinner spiritually is where conversation takes time to converse with God and ponder the moment of just being with Him.
To sit and just be still . Refreshment comes just mine having dinner with an old friend no hurry no worries just sharing time.

Set the table . Set the atmosphere. Put aside all the distractions for a spiritual meal with Jesus . Refreshment and strength will be gained .
    Daily in His presence.
It is well worth the time .

    Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

  9. 13 A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit. NLT

Some people claim to be happy, but forgot to tell their face.

    If you’re happy
    And you know it
    Then your face
    Will surely show it
    If you’re happy
    And you know it
    Say Amen!

  10. 13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

I can relate to this verse greatly, because when my son died the sorrow was so big that I left the church. I went so deep into my grief that those around me could not recognize me. I beat my self up emotionally day after day. I felt guilty and my sentences always began with “if only”, I should of”, could of”, would of”. I held my pride on the fact that I could fix everything, I could explain everything with facts and details and convince people to my point of view, debate was one of my strongest talent but I could not fix this!! No matter how much I try I couldn’t understand why my son and his best friend got killed. With each reproach, with every curse, with every angry word I destroyed my spirit. I got to the point where subconsciously I was harming my body and killing it slowly for I had no regard for my life, but one day I ran into a sister from church and she kept insisting I go to church for they were having revival. I said sure but I had no intent on going. She appeared at my home 30 minutes before service so I had to face her and even then I just made up excuses, she didn’t buy them not even one. So she drag me to church and that night our Pastor Bro Lagow was speaking about Psalm 30: 5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
JOY COMES IN THE MORNING!!! Oh how angry that got me, I remember like it was yesterday, I got up, and disrespected a great Pastor, and started yelling with profanity, asking where was that joy!! Why my baby he was only 8 years old? Your God took him away and left my arms empty!!! I still feel ashamed for what I did that night; but Pastor Lagow just came down from the pulpit and embrace, cried with me, and talked to me with such sweetness and love. Until I just fell on my knees and began to cry speaking in tongues, since then I have never left my Pentecostal church. The abused to my body to such an extend that I became sick, your mouth can do that, no rest, falling on the abuses of the world, but my God stepped right in, they gave me 6 months to live 1996 but my God gave me His Joy and Health. HE NEVER FAILS!! Every time Drs think there is no way GOD SHOWS THAT HE IS THE ONLY WAY!!! THAT WITH HIM THERE ARE NO IMPOSSIBLES!!!! HIS JOY IS ALL I NEED!!!

  11. 16Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

There are many things in this world that a man could gain by doing things that contradict the word of God and cause a person to become greedy and gain arrogance. But there will not be happiness or joy because with the success of the the materialistic items will always bring heartache, but when you gain success or favor with God everything will be provided and you will find joy, hope, and peace. You will also gain the promises of God when you leave this world and enter eternity. We will be judged by what we do here on the earth so why not give all we have to further the kingdom and be a great witness for the gospel.

It’s time we live Jesus without hesitation and reservations. We have the greatest opportunity to be like Jesus in this time of uncertainty. The church has to take the enemy by force and remove the adversity from those that we are trying to save. We have to keep pushing forward and make progress for this end time outpouring of the Holy Ghost.

  12. Prov. 15: 3 [ amp] The eyes of the Lord are in every place keeping watch upon the evil and good.
Prov. 5: 21 For the ways of man are directly before the eyes of the Lord, and He [ Who would have us live soberly, chastely, and godly] carefully , weighs all man’s goings.
Job. 35:21 [ amp] For [ God’s eyes are upon the ways of a man , He sees all his steps.
The Lord sees and hears everything we do!
So be careful and live for Jesus.

  13. 12 Mockers hate to be corrected, so they stay away from the wise.

14 A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.
15 For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast.

Who are you near to? Who do you allow to influence you and advise you?

I thank God we have a Pastor and First Lady who care and make themselves available when we need wisdom. Just the same, we have great examples of leadership who are also able to direct us and lead us on paths of righteous living. Friends are good, but wise authority is greater and insures your spiritual well being. If we continuously seek wisdom, we learn, and our lives will bear the fruit of that wisdom bringing us joy, peace, and confidence in the Holy Ghost!

  17. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother. Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
    Proverbs 15:20‭-‬21 KJV

Sometimes we can love one person and hate the other but we still need to have in mind that they. have feelings too but they can ether love you or hate you to but that still doesnt madder the bible says we have love our enimys we dont hav e to like them but we still have to make them feel welcome .

  18. Proverbs 15 again gives us advice to do the right thing. Only a firm belief in God will keep us on the wise moral pathway described in this chapter. We have choices and I pray we all follow our Lord.
I thank you Jesus for this day!

  19. 15:2 ERV listening to wise people increases
    Your knowledge, but only nonsense
Comes from the mouth of fools.

… first, we got to know to discern, to identify
Who we are dealing with, who has been talking to us.
Second, do not take it personal and
Again,.. to know to not give place
    Set a boundary!
    👉🏼 Know the motive
    Know the person.
    —- save yourself.
Walk away. Ignore and shake it off.
-I will have peace of mind
-I will listen to those who hear from God.
    – I will choose wisely

  21. 14 The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

We all have a seed of faith and questions about doctrines are diligently researched by thoes of understanding. It is the foolish that seek after false doctrines, which is called a confirmation bias.

  22. Proverbs 15:26
The lord detests evil plans, but he delights in pure words.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil (Proverbs 4:23-27). The book of Proverbs beautifully takes practical matters, interweaves the spiritual, and makes life the beautiful thing God wants it to be. When a person knows God and is right with God, they will find they live a perfectly natural, intensely practical, and deeply spiritual life all at the same time. That’s what God intends. In the Old Testament the word “heart” is used more than 800 times, but more than 200 times it deals with one’s thought life, emotions, the wellsprings of life, those things that motivate and mold us. The Bible calls that the heart. Why did Solomon tell his son, “above all else, guard your heart; for out of it are the issues of life?” Because thoughts control the rest of your life.

As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).

Your thoughts—positive, negative, good, or bad—control your attitudes. Your attitudes are the sum total of your thoughts. Your attitudes lead to your actions. This is so fundamental that God destroyed an entire civilization because they had “heart trouble.”

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was evil continually before God” (Genesis 6:5).

God said, “The thoughts of their heart are so evil, I’m going to have to destroy them,” and He sent the flood because of the thoughts of men’s hearts. The heart of the human problem is the problem of the human heart.  We’re still having the same problem they had. Do the following questions give you pause for the condition of the heart?

What lies do I believe about myself or the world around me, and how is that affecting my relationship with God?

What sins or bad habits in my life are weighing me down from a higher moral conduct?

What behaviors or habits do I know to be right, and yet avoid or ignore?

Am I selfishly trying to find physical or emotional fulfillment through my relationships?

    How to Guard Your Heart

“Be not conformed to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

What Solomon said to his son was, “Son, guard, protect, and be careful of your thought life. Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” The Lord Jesus Christ wants us to present our bodies to Him, including our minds, that He might transform us. No wonder the devil battles for the mind. How important that we learn to keep our hearts, because a fierce battle is raging for the control of your mind. When God is in the heart, then we think right, live right, do right. When God is absent, we think wrong, do wrong, live wrong. Be careful what comes into your mind. You have to think pure thoughts. God made you where you can’t think two things at one time. So how do you keep from thinking what’s wrong? Just think what’s right. And if you’re thinking what’s right, you cannot be thinking what’s wrong.
Just load up on My Word. Get My Word into your heart. “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. “How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.”

“I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.” (Psalm 119:9-11)

Store up the word of God. How are you going to think pure thoughts? By thinking positive thoughts. Not thinking about flowers and birds and trees, but the mighty Word of God.

“The Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12).

Get it in your heart. It has power to cleanse and keep you. If you want to know what is in your heart, just listen to what escapes your mouth.

Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34).

When your mind is clear and right with God, when you think the thoughts of Christ after Him, when you have the mind of Christ, when you’re being transformed by the word of God and the power of God and the Spirit of God in your thought life, then you’re going to be doing the will of God. God has a plan for you, a wonderful plan. The book of Proverbs shows you His plan for having health, wealth, and wisdom. It begins in your thoughts.

  23. 13 A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit.
14 A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.
    Proverbs 15:13-14 NLT

There’s nothing greater in this world than the wisdom the Lord fills us with the peace and joy he fills our life and spirit with. Let us seek the Lord daily, let him fix our lost and broken hearts, let the Lord fill your spirit with all that he has. Fill your spirit and your mind with his wisdom and his word, so when the time comes your prepared to help those seeking the Lord. Let us show the lost in this world the light of the Lord, show them the love and joy on our faces. Spread all the miracles and everything the Lord has done for us. Show them that the Lord has a beautiful life for them and brings them to victory and peace and saves them in there battles, and all the love he has.

  24. 8The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked,
but he delights in the prayers of the upright.

For the wicked, it comes easy to deceive, to mock and disrespect others. God does not like those characteristics in us. For the righteous, it’s easy to give thanks, pray and bless others.

  25. “Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail; take good counsel and watch them succeed.”
    Proverbs 15:22 MSG

Be submitted and obedient to those that have higher authority over you. Receive the good advice they teach us, take it not for granted. Grasp to the counsel of God’s word and what He has plan for us. Let God move in your behalf and restore you. You shall be victorious and everything shall prosper.

  26. 16 Better is little with the fear of the Lordthan great treasure and trouble therewith.

17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

How lovely is your dwelling place
    Oh, Lord Almighty
For my soul longs and even faints for You
For here my heart is satisfied
    Within Your presence
I sing beneath the shadow of Your wings

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
    Than thousands elsewhere

One thing I ask and I would seek
    To see Your beauty
To find You in the place Your glory dwells
One thing I ask and I would seek
    To see Your beauty
To find You in the place Your glory dwells
My heart and flesh cry out
    For You, the living God
Your Spirit’s water to my soul
    I’ve tasted and I’ve seen
    Come once again to me
I will draw near to You
I will draw near to You

I would rather be in His for His service than live in high places in the World!

  27. Proverb 15
33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

We do not want to be in the hands of and angry God for we fear Him. The lords directions and council Leeds us to wisdom. Knowing that Our righteousness is as filthy rages Yet the blood of Jesus makes us righteous and makes us Humble. For all things are given to us through Christ: so why worry . I have not starved in 75 years nor have I gone with out his word.

  28. 3The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

God sees it all. You can’t hide what you’re doing. It’s important to remember when you think you’re getting away with sin, God sees you. As the children of God, we must do what’s right at all times. God still has the power to do all things. He is a way maker.

  29. 15 A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

I think this chapter was trying to tell us that we have to use kind words to other people! It really depends on how you say something and that’s how the other person will react. You may not know what the other person is going through, so we always have to be kind!

  30. “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good [in all their endeavors].”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:3‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We can’t hide anything from Jesus- He knows all and sees all. When we make mistakes – and we will make mistakes – all we need to do is repent and learn our lesson so we won’t make the mistake again. There is no need to wallow in our sorrows to prove how guilty we feel. God knows our hearts and the intentions behind every action we make.

I thank God he is a gracious and merciful God who doesn’t expect us to be perfect but committed to righteousness. I pray we remember we are Victories In Progress

  31. 19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

Here the word of God makes plain the path of the righteous verses the path of the wicked. The righteous path is not always easy but is made easy because the Lord is with him. It would be better to live righteously than to follow after unrighteousness.

  32. Verse 32 MSG “An undisciplined, self-willed life is puny; an obedient, God-willed life is spacious. Same verse NLT “If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.” Do not stunt your growth by rejecting discipline; but, rather get all those things out of your way that are clouding your vision and trying to deter your walk with the Lord.

  33. 32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding

There is always room for learning and gaining wisdom. God makes it available to us all but are we willing to receive it. There is the old saying you can leave a horse to water but you can’t make them drink. God is available to all of us but do we want it. All we have to do is open our hearts and minds and receive it.

  34. 8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

The sacrifices and the ways of the wicked, WOW!

When you stop to see what Jesus is saying here, and remember that carnality is eminty with God, you see how sacrifices can be an abomination. We must strive to keep a humble and repented heart and attitude when we bring our sacrifices to Jesus, that they not be counter as filthy rags…

  35. We must be like Christ, Christ’s humiliation was before his exaltation; we as men are to be first humble, then, the rest is up to God.

  36. “A scoffer [unlike a wise man] resents one who rebukes him and tries to teach him; Nor will he go to the wise [for counsel and instruction].”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:12‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This verse made me chuckle just a bit…

I don’t know about most of y’all but I’m not one to really read instructions when assembling a new toy or piece of furniture for my boys. I like to just wing it and act like I know what I’m doing. However, at some point in the middle of the assembly you’ll see me looking for the instruction manual and being frustrated because I need to start all over again since I missed a simple step along the way. How many of us are guilty of applying that same idea to our spiritual walks?🙋🏽‍♀️ *cough, me, cough* Sometimes I’ll think I know best and so it my way, never seeking help and rolling my eyes at the unsolicited advice I received. But in all honesty I know so much heart ache, pain, and frustration could be avoided if I just sought help and applied the advice I’ve been given to my actual life situations.

  37. 1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

These two verses are well memorized and quoted so very much by Christian’s. Use soft words, kind mannerisms, and “nice”ities! For, “. . . A soft answer turneth away wrath. . .” So, many things are explained these six simple words! Heed the advice and save a lot of headache and get ahead at the same time. “. . . tongue of the wise useth knowledge. . .”

  38. “The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God resists the proud. The way to get honour is to be humble. When God lifts you up, no man can deny what he has done. The fear of the Lord is what leads to humility, honour, and the institution to wisdom

  39. 1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Trying to get your way by raising your voice to make your point will get you nowhere. In fact, it will only worsen the dispute and make things words. Dealing with a lot of customers I’ve seen this to be true time and time again. Some still leave upset but the way you answer, a soft answer, will even cause them to lower their voice and calm their anger. Thing can definitely be better resolved when there is clear communication.

  40. “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:8‬ ‭NKJV‬

When we are upright with the Lord our prayers are His delight. What a sweet assurance to know that we are His delight. To know that He longs and takes pleasure to be in communication with us.

  41. “Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s easy to get caught up with the goods of this world. It’s easy to deceive yourself into thinking it’s from God too. If it’s something pulling you away from the Kingdom it’s probably not of the Lord.
