Proverbs 16

The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

11 A just weight and balance are the Lord’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.

12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.

32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.

  1. 24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

When I was a child my mother would always tell me “if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say then don’t say anything at all”. It doesn’t cost anything to say kind words over harsh words.

    John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

    1 Peter 3:8
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

Therefore we should obey His commandments and love one another and serve one another rather than putting down our brothers and sisters.

  2. 19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

The character of a person can be seen even when you don’t know a person. Their spirit precedes them just like their reputation. I find that when you spirit isn’t right, everything wrong will eventually come out to others, whether in action or speech. The Bible states that as a man thinks so is he. The heart will reveal the most inner spirit of a person. When you are full of the Holy Ghost and living Jesus, you will not be arrogant or you will not have to speak because the spirit will reveal your true inner self.

Proverbs states it clearly in the chapter that:
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

We have to be cautious because we want to be examples to others and represent God in everything we do. Live Jesus to give Jesus.

  3. 3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

    Romans 12: 2
‭‭ “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

    ‭‭

  4. Live Jesus GiveJesus 2. If you draw a square starting at the left top corner and you go across then down then back to left lower corner then up to left top corner. You have now fully completed square and you are on top left corner and square is complete! Think of it as being Jesus’s heart because it is in the top left of his body!! Your heart combined with his is where you want to be!!

  5. 25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

It is natural for man in his fallen nature to seek after his own way. The credit for our salvation is the Lord’s because no one is saved by there own efforts, due to no one coming to the Lord until the Lord first draw him.

  6. When a man’s ways pleaseth the Lord he makes even his enemies be at peace with him. I love this part of Gods word. This would be a good step in leading an enemy to God.

  7. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    LIFE

22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

Undrestanding is the pathway to WISDOM. How can we explain, teach or correctly live something that we do not understand? Life in the natural is lived by things set in motion. Blood flow, air flow and water flow are all necessary factors for LIFE in the natural. Likewise in the Spirit LIFE in the Spirit is deternined by the Blood flow of JESUS, the air flow of the Holy Ghost and the water flow of the WORD.

These are areas of our LIFE that we should seek and find understanding. The more we seek understanding the more LIFE we live. A wellspring or Springing Well of LIFE resides in us when we find understanding of GODs LOVE, GRACE, WILL and KINGDOM.

Therefore I seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive

  8. 1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

We can make all the plans we want and create a detailed itinerary of how things are going to process, and we can even have things set a certain way of how we want them to occur but in the end it’s up to God to decide whether or not it’s going to happen if it is to be in his will. We must learn to lean on him everyday and shy away from trusting our own expectations as we grow in Christ. It’s not up to us to determine the outcome it is only God who brings things to pass by his will.

  9. Proverbs 16
32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

    Search me daily Lord .
Be the Lord of everything in my life that I truly reflect Who You Ate .
    Without You I am nothing.

    James 1. Message
19-21 Post this at all the intersections, dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. God’s righteousness doesn’t grow from human anger. So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage. In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.

  10. Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city.
    Proverbs 16:32 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.16.32.NLT

Power without control can destroy. There’s more power in being able to regulate and govern than to just exute power. God isn’t impressed with power. He’s impressed with order, submission, and proper government. That’s why when He robed Himself in flesh and came to dwell among us it was said in Isaiah that the government would be on HIS Shoulders. Glory to God for His regulating the power and authority here on earth and in heavenly places.

  11. 3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

The reason some people are undisciplined in their relationship with the Lord, and with others, is because they have not committed their works unto the Lord. He directs our thoughts, our actions and our steps through His Spirit and His Word. If we are not getting our direction from Him on a daily basis, we are floundering in our day. Doing this and that, but never accomplishing what it is He had planned for our day.

If we will establish direction from Him at the first, our day and our work will go much smoother and we will accomplish His will for the day. Sometimes we forget that we are Heavenly beings in a carnal world and we get off track following the carnality of man; man’s ways, man’s path, man’s direction. Follow Jesus – He gave us the gift of His Spirit and He told us it would lead and guide us into all truth, and establish our paths.

  12. 32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Galations 5: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is cove, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

As we grow in God we practice to master each of these attributes to display the character of a Christian.

  13. Prov. 16 : 8 [ amp] Better is a little with righteous
( uprightness in every area and relation and right standing with God) than great revenues with injustice .
Prov. 15:16 [ amp] Better is little with the reverent,
worshipful fear of the Lord than great and rich treasure and trouble with it.
I know in life there are things that I need to improve.
Without God is my life! I can’t succeed.
But you can succeed with God, And to please him.
    To be more like Jesus.
    Seek him first !

  14. 16:23,24 ERV Wise people, always think
    Before they speak.
So what they say, is worth listening to.
Kind words are like honey, they are easy to accept
    And god for the health.
    ——
    Is it going to help?
Is it going to bring peace?
Is it going to try to correct the other?
👉🏼 The point is not trying to show off we are right or not.
The point is to know when to open our mouth.
Even if what we are going to say it’s right.
Sometimes keeping quiet is the best answer.
    Kind words easy to accept….
Again, I must know how and when to speak.
I could be making a point, but if my words are, sound harsh. It might not help at all.
But kind words it says it’s like honey…and they have a great impact, even in the persons health.
    That I may learn
    That I may gain wisdom
    That I may listen 🙏.

  15. Proverbs 16:24, “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.”

It’s amazing how a pleasant and kind word can be sweet to a soul and bring healing to them. Pleasant and kind words build people up and encourage them. Pleasant and kind words bring healing to the broken, strength to the weak, life to the hopeless, encouragement to the discouraged, and so much more.
So speak Pleasant and Kind words. Let your Pleasant and Kind words bring healing, strength, life, and encouragement to someone today.
    LIVE JESUS – GIVE JESUS

  16. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.

Have you ever noticed that some folks have a really great way of dealing with folks? The maddest and meanest people can be easily pacified by folks who know how to speak with wisdom. The Bible says “the answer of the tongue is from the Lord…” We better go to the Lord and let him tame our tongue y’all. No more excuses for razor tongues

  17. 20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

Don’t be rash to jump to the conclusion of a situation. Every situation should be handled with wisdom and the bible says you shall find good. When you trust in the Lord, you will be happy. It will also allow you to use wisdom when tough problems arise. If we allow God to lead and guide us, we will come out successful.

  18. “Get wisdom—it’s worth more than money; choose insight over income every time. The road of right living bypasses evil; watch your step and save your life.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:16-17‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This is what I was talking about to my nieces at 3 in the morning. Every time I try to speak life and truth into them. Children are listening to what you need to tell them about the LORD.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:6‬ ‭KJV

  19. Words can hurt people very harshly and sometimes we don’t even see it ourselves when we say it. Some people will say things to us and it might hurt us so bad that we might even keep it and lock it in side of our selves and let it burn and boil inside of us. But we are blessed to have a god to helps us get out of the burning and boiling inside of us.

  20. Proverbs 16

1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.

2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

4 The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

  21. “When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

What an on time word! I’m so thankful for the Word of the Lord. This scripture is encouraging to have your ways please the Lord. And that is my prayer, that we would walk worthy and fully pleasing. That we would be fruitful in every good work and increase in the knowledge of God.

“Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:20-21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  22. 7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

It is a great thing to be living in the peace of God. Although at times things start going chaotic and we must ask and analyze ourselves. Do we have a Kingdom issue? Did we step out of his will and covering. Or is the Lord attempting to teach us something?

  23. Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

It makes me happy to be kind and use sweet words to others. Our Lord wants us to love others with encouragement and wisdom. Sometimes a smile, and “nice to see you” could brighten someone’s day. God’s children need to project light to brighten someone’s day!
I thank you Lord for this day and for the words of Pastor Watts today.

  24. When I was reading this chapter this stick out to me the most in the Bible Gateway version.
2 All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.
This meant to me that sometimes we make it seem like we did something amazing or maybe got lucky but it was all God! Sometimes we may not notice that we are taking advantage over His works but is is so worth noticing! When God does something amazing for us and others we should automatically give him praise. Mater a fact we should give him praise even if there is nothing involved! All I could really ask for is His mercy and grace upon my life! I hope today that my message stuck out to you. All in really want you to know is taut Jesus loves each and every one of us more than we can ever deserve! Let’s just make sure we are giving Him the glory and honor! ❤️

  25. The greatest lie

2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

The greatest lie is the ones we tell ourselves. There are traps that we lay out for ourselves that justify what we are doing or involved in. The truth being that those little things are the ones that keep good people out of heaven. I love the way Pastor has trained us to deal with these situations. It is the simple question: Where is that in the Bible? There has to be checks and balances that keep us from lying to ourselves and making mistakes that cost us more than we are willing to give.

  26. “When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As long as you remain in the will of god you have nothing to worry about. All our battles belong to the lord and when we submit to him we don’t have to worry about anything. Just like it said our enemies will be at peace with him. The lord is that amazing that he will make the very one who hates you be at peace with you. As Christians we must realize that we don’t have to fight our battles alone all we have to do is look to the hills from which comets our help.

  27. 7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

If we can just learn to please God. Sounds so simple yet you have to know Him to please Him. Know Him by His Word. Jnkw Him by a genuine relationship with Him. He is the peace keeper and when there should be chaos He sends peace.

  28. 6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

Mercy is not getting what we deserve. Therefore, when we sin the punishment is death. Truth is supported by wisdom, instruction and understanding those who find it should not let it go. Iniquity is self will. Once we subtract our will with repentance and add His will then our perception changes. When we fear the Lord then leaving our old ways behind is necessary before moving forward.

  29. 25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Some ways seem correct but can lead us to our destruction. Seek the word of God and let Him order our steps. His way is life and abundance, our own understanding can lead us to death.

  30. “First pride, then the crash— the bigger the ego, the harder the fall.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:18‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Our pride will lead us to trouble every time. We have to make sure we humble ourselves before the Lord everyday. When we are submitted to His Will we allow Jesus to be our guide. I thank God for His many examples of humility in the Bible. I pray we always note the importance of staying humble

  31. Proverb 16
32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. What dose the bible say about anger.

Psa 145:8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
Pro 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
Pro 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

As for the spirit must be ruled by Jesus’s spirit (Holy Spirit)

Apostle Paul stated Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

We must allow our flesh to die that that we are crucified with Christ. Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. For the Kingdom of God is greater than our flesh.

  32. 9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

It is the Lord the one who can gide our heart, and He is the only one who directs our steps.

  33. 7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

I guess we need to keep on pushing for our enemies to be at peace with us. But not everyone that opposes you is an enemy

  34. “The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There are things that people don’t like to think about or maybe we just forget. God intentionally made everyone and everything. I know there are sometimes people I would just rather not deal with, but God made t by em for a purpose. Even those who have committed the “greatest evils” that we know of all have a purpose. Jesus created people that cause wars. He created those that go atop wars, again everyone has a purpose. Sometimes I just have to realize that the purpose that some people have might not be my purpose. God created people differently and for different purposes. I just have to realize that his ways and thoughts are much higher than mine.

  35. Proverbs 16:9
We can make our plans, but the lord determines our steps.

    Control by Tenth Avenue North
    Here I am
    All my intentions
    All my obsessions
I want to lay them all down
    In Your hands
    Only Your love is vital
    Though I’m not entitled
Still You call me Your child

    God You don’t need me
    But somehow You want me
    Oh, how You love me
    Somehow that frees me
To take my hands off of my life
And the way it should go

    God You don’t need me
    But somehow You want me
    Oh, how You love me
    Somehow that frees me
    To open my hands up
    And give You control
    I give You control

    I’ve had plans
    Shattered and broken
    Things I have hoped in
    Fall through my hands
    You have plans
    To redeem and restore me
    You’re behind and before me
    Oh, help me believe

    God You don’t need me
    But somehow You want me
    Oh, how You love me
    Somehow that frees me
To take my hands off of my life
And the way it should go, oh

    God You don’t need me
    But somehow You want me
    Oh, how You love me
    Somehow that frees me
    To open my hands up
    And give You control

    Oh, You want me
    Somehow You want me
The King of Heaven wants me
So this world has lost it’s grip on me

    Oh, You want me
    Somehow You want me
The King of Heaven wants me
So this world has lost it’s grip on me

    God You don’t need me
    But somehow You want me
    Oh, how You love me
    Somehow that frees me
To take my hands off of my life
And the way it should go, oh

    God You don’t need me
    But somehow You want me
    Oh, how You love me
    Somehow that frees me
    To open my hands up
    And give You control
    I give You control

    Oh, give You control
Oh, I want to give You control
    I give You control

    You want me
    Somehow You want me
The King of Heaven wants me
So this world has lost it’s grip on me

  36. Verses 2-3 AMP “All the ways of a man are clean and innocent in his own eyes [and he may see nothing wrong with his actions], But the Lord weighs and examines the motives and intents [of the heart and knows the truth]. [a]Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].” God knows all things, sees all things and truly knows why we do what we do. We must commit our works to the Lord and let His will guide our path. We must heed the warnings as verse 25 AMP says “There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, But its end is the way of death.” Do not be fooled and let your actions lead you to death (sin).

  37. “Better to have little, with godliness, than to be rich and dishonest.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/pro.16.8.nlt

The things of this world is only temporary. The riches and luxuries don’t even matter. Jesus will bless and provide when you seek his Kingdom every day. Find his word and love it. Put this Bible in your heart.

  38. 17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Keep Your way in the way of the Lord, in the way of righteousness. God will order our steps if we seek wisdom and use His Word to guide our way. But even more than that, we must maintain a right attitude and spirit. We must humble ourselves everyday and allow the Lord to have His way.

  39. 1We can make our own plans,
but the LORD gives the right answer.

We all like to make our own plans without asking asking anyone for advice. We can make them, but It’s God will to make it happen. Spouses communicate plans, teenagers talk to parents, but we should pray our plans to God.

  40. 27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

This chapter mentions so many things about the differences between an ungodly man and a righteous man. This one showed so true. “. . . An ungodly man diggeth up evil. . . “. And even in the world this proves as a difference between someone “in their eyes” evil! In stories, outlooks, and opinions, he, “. . diggeth up evil. . “

  41. “How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

One can gain monetary processions but it will only last them a while but to use wisdom is priceless and lasts a lifetime, never running out of value. But don’t mistake knowledge for wisdom, because knowledge is the ability to know things and wisdom is the ability to apply the knowledge you have.
