Proverbs 21

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.

To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.

The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.

15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.

26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.

29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.

31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.

  1. 13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

The Lord knows our heart and sees everything. It is wise to consider how we respond to those in need because it can affect the way the Lord responds to our needs.

  2. 9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

Ever since the garden of Eden, man has struggled with the woman. Man is suppose to have a helpmeet with their wife. Someone who is going to be truthful to them rather than be contentious with them. It is never a good thing to always want to be quarrelsome with your spouse, but sometimes there is definitely disagreement in a marriage. The scripture states that he who finds a wife finds a good thing and will receive favor from the Lord. We have to love our wives as Christ loved the church. It is best that we would step away from the disagreements instead of retaliation. I was always taught to never to let the sun go down on your wrath. So that when the day was over there would be peace to lay your head down at night. It is best to have God in the midst of the marriage so that it will be by his will and not the will of the husband or wife. Then the marriage will truly be prosperous. Live Jesus to give Jesus even to our spouses.

  3. The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.

7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

  4. Proverbs 21

9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

Being a woman myself I think it safe to speak on this topic. I find it interesting that Solomon would take liberty to write this Proverb . Was it a God breathed Proverb or the experience Solomon had faced . Having as many wives and concubines as Solomon did it could be said both.
God did not make woman to filled with contention and strife. She was actually made to be the help meet to the man . Contention and brawling brings continual strife. Is it about control when one brings strife continuously into the home?
Whether it is the wife or the husband. There is a way to dwell peaceably within the home . With just a few attitude adjustments I like to say get under the spout where God’s glory comes out . We don’t have to have our way all the time girls. True love seeks not its own . We can be peace makers . Perfect no . Peaceful yes. have you ever considered that actions speak so much louder than words ? We as women can make a difference and it must start within our own heart first so that we can have peaceful homes.
At the close of the day rest needs to come unity , harmony can be obtained . I know the Peace Maker . Hold diligently to your marriages and build up and stand next to your man . Don’t have him wondering in the wilderness because of your contention create an atmosphere where he wants to come home to.
Submitting to God to His ways . You can find peace .
You do not have to live angry .

Be thankful you have a husband that can come home to you . A good friend of mine Bobbie Hart taught me when I was a young wife that contention has to cease and to value the time you have with your husband. Thankfulness goes a long time ways.
    Colossians 3:15
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

  5. 3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

    1 Sam. 15:22
“So Samuel said: “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.”
    ‭‭

  6. Live Jesus Give Jesus Squared.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. New King James version, to do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. Hmmm…..righteousness and judgment used the same way? Let me see…the quality of being morally right is the meaning of righteousness….the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions is the meaning of judgement . This is making sense! I love the blog!

  7. 1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts

One of the most important organs and Aspects of a person’s life is there heart. It is required to but throughout the body and it’s also the seat of emotion, but it can also be the most unpredictable and unreliable part of a man’s life. It can lead the stray or if not taken care of properly cause blood clots in the body. The heart has one of the most important jobs but it is still necessary to guard it and to protect its functionality. This is even more why we need God for everything, to guide us against the damage our heart can do. The church needs to pray that it’s heartbeat is in tune with God’s.

  8. “The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:16‬ ‭KJV

Do not allow your eyes to wander and desire the way of the world. It may see pleasurable for a season, but some are never able to come home. A spiritual death is waiting for them. They have dig up their own grave.
The word of the LORD tells us to put on the whole armor of GOD that we may be able to STAND against the wiles of the devil 👿.

The word of GOD warns us throughout His word. It is there for our learning and to teach others. We will never be able to stand in front of the LORD Jesus and say I never knew.

“My child, listen carefully to everything I say. Don’t forget a single word, but think about it all. Knowing these teachings will mean true life and good health for you. Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life. Never tell lies or be deceitful in what you say. Keep looking straight ahead, without turning aside. Know where you are headed, and you will stay on solid ground. Don’t make a mistake by turning to the right or the left.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:20-27‬ ‭CEV‬‬

  9. AMP – 3 To do righteousness and justice
Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice [for wrongs repeatedly committed].

The Lord wants us to learn from our mistakes. Too many people depend on the mercy and grace of God to continually forgive them for repeated mistakes. However, when we come to knowledge that what we are doing is sin, we are responsible for those actions.

James 4:17 tells us “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

  10. 31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.

Man may go to elaborate plans to insure military success, but victory on the day of battle comes from the Lord alone. It is better to trust in Him than in horses or in nuclear weapons.
    Nothing avails against God.
    Nothing avails without God.

  11. vs. – 13
Again the “poor” indicates the weak and needy individual. The verse does not teach that God will not answer, but that if the hard-hearted person should become poor, she can expect no generosity from those she ignored. Today we say it quite simply, “What goes around, comes around.”

  12. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    THE VALUE OF ACCOUNTABILITY

2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.

These words of WISDOM are eternal. The danger of the Lone Ranger attitude is here. We may feel like we are doing the right thing, saying the right thing or planning the right thing. But if it is only in our eyes we present a danger to ourselves.

    TLB
2 We can justify our every deed, but God looks at our motives.

When we read TLB version of the same verse, it reveals how easy it comes for us to defend our actions even though our motives may not be pure. We are wise to process our motives prior to making a move. We are wise to honestly seek counsel prior to making a move.

This verse beckons us to recognize THE VALUE OF ACCOUNTABILITY that we protect ourselves from damaging our testimony with self motive.

6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death

One principle that is continually expressed over and over in the Word of God is that God does not accept a lying tongue. No matter how much it seems like a person will gain by lying, it just isn’t worth it.

    Let truth reign in 2021!

  14. 9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

Wow this verse pop up at me because of something my grandma used to say. She always said “Es mejor una choza con amor que un castillo con odio” – “it is better a shack with love than a castle with hate”. I also learned a long time ago that a house should be a home, a haven for my husband and children. The world is already way full of strife and battles they shouldn’t have to come home to the same agony. They should be comfortable enough to tell you their concerns and worries; at the same time feel like nothing can harm them at their home. A safe environment, a place they can be themselves and still be loved. It’s hard but as the lady of the house it is our responsibility to make it a home. Thank you Jesus for you gave me a very wise grandmother even when she did not read nor write she taught from her heart.

  15. Proverbs 21:23, “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from
    troubles.”

How true this scripture is. If we could just learn to keep our mouth shut and learn to control our tongue, we could stay out of a lot of trouble.

We should pray everyday that the LORD would help us to guard our mouths and control what we say.
“Keep thy tongue from evil… (PS. 34:13).
“Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.” (PS. 141:3).

  16. Prov.21 : 2 [ amp] Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs and tries the hearts.
Luke 16:15 [ amp] But He said to them, You are the ones who declare yourselves just and upright before men, But God knows your hearts, For want is exalted and highly thought of among men is detestable and abhorrent ( an abomination) in the sight of God.
We all have made alot bad decisions and bad choices in our own lives.
Having Jesus in my life is always a challenge and a change in my life.
And I personally thank you Jesus for saving me.
    Jesus is the only way.

  17. 21:15 it is a joy to the just to do judgment
: but destruction shall be to the workers of inquiry.
    —-
Because we are living some very evil days..
And doing what’s right it’s not that popular…
The Bible says we are the light of the world than Can not be hidden….
with Gods HOLY SPIRIT working in us, no matter how the times looks like. We are able to conquer …
I must stand up for righteousness!!!!
👉🏼Yes, there is a cost… and it will not be easy..
But when we do it. We have peace of mind
That joy in our hearts that the world insists
On taking it away.. 👉🏼 BUT THEY CANT.

  18. The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices. Haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin. Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.
    Proverbs 21:3‭-‬5 NLT

Serve the Lord and obey His Word – this is more pleasing to God and leads us to prosperity.

  19. the horse is prepare for battle but the victory belpngs to the Lord

We have to watch what we say cause sometimes our words can hurt people very very bad . it can get so bad that that we might loes a loved one a family member or even a friend . you see we have to watch what we say cause when we go up to get judged for what we say….

  20. Proverbs 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord Pondereth the hearts.

Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Being right in your own eyes is self- satisfaction, which leads a person astray; but the Lord pondereth the heart, He weighs them and theirs determines the direction which peoples plans should take.

  21. Proverbs 21:8 The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright. N I V

“The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he. punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.” Exodus 34:6-7 NIV
We must always remember what we do, whether right or wrong affects other people.
Thank you Jesus w this day!

  22. 2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.

    Jeremiah 17:5
    King James Version
5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

We never see this verse in the light of ourselves. That when we trust in our selves we our cursed. Proverbs solidifies Jeremiah. When we understand that only God can be trusted, we take our eyes not just of others but ourselves.

  23. Proverbs 21:23,30
[23]Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut,
and you will stay out of trouble.

Watch what speak and do. Ask yourself is it pleasing to the Lord?

[30]No human wisdom or understanding or plan
        can stand against the lord.

The Lord is a strong tower.
    Thank you Jesus

  24. 2People may be right in their own eyes,
but the LORD examines their heart.

When making a decision, we all think it’s the right one. If have to humble ourselves and allow others to let us know we made a bad choice. Don’t be offended when corrected.

  25. 3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

Anybody can do a sacrifice at one point or time in their lives or another. Yes it costs and yes it hurts, but like the Word says, to do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord. One can push through to a sacrifice. Yet to do justice and judgment one must be transformed from character and mindset. You cant do either without God. It is only God that enables us to act that way. We would have to change our ways and be more Jesus. There is a sinful nature within us and therefore, that nature is to transgress. So what I’m trying to say is to overcome that we must be renewed. First be born again die to the flesh carry your cross and then be not conformed to this word but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. So to do justice and judgment means that you are reflecting the one who is Just and is Judge. His name is Jesus. Like I say one can make a sacrifice and yes there is value in it. God sees what we do, but it’s a one time thing. You must die daily. That is a transformation. More of Him and less of me. You take on the appearance of the Judge to do justice. It is a process that requires determination. Your habits will reveal your goals.

Remember is better to obey, than to sacrifice.

  26. 7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

If you stand for nothing you will fall for anything

There are definite times in everyone’s life where you have to draw a line in the sand and stand on one side or the other. The prophet said choose ye this day whom ye will serve. To stand by and be tolerant will not be good enough especially the closer we get to the coming of the Lord. When things start to get worse, Christians will have to make some hard decisions if they want to be considered on the side of Jesus. Look at what the disciples went through and the hard decisions they continually made in following the word of God. Let us be resolute in our beliefs and stand for firm for the Kingdom of God.

  27. 20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

A wise person makes room for the future by storing up and being a great steward of what he has. Yet a foolish person spends all he has as soon as he can with no regard of the future.

Proverbs is filled with great tools of success in the kingdom and in life here on earth. We must take heed to it and apply it to our lives.

  28. “Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs and examines the hearts [of people and their motives].”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We can’t hide anything from god. We can try and bottle it up and our outer appearance look good however god will examine us within. God sees past our physical appearance. God examines our hearts. As Christians we must make sure that our heart is right with him. My mom used to tel ema Nd my siblings what’s done in the dark always comes to the light and that you can run but you can’t hide.

  29. 20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his 20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles keepeth his soul from troubles.

    Matthew 5:6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Sometimes it’s better to hold your tongue and let the Lord fight your battles! It is more righteous to choose your words wisely, which only comes from knowledge and understanding…. Daily reading the scriptures! I know myself that I have to watch my words at times, I cannot stand to be excused of something and know that I am not guilty! But I have learned through the years that’s is better to hold my peace and let the Lord work it out!

  30. 2 People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart. 3 The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.
    Proverbs 21:2-3 NLT

God knows all and he sees all, everyday and every second. We can hide from this world but we cannot hide from the Lord, let us not be ashamed what what you may have done or what you did do. Come clean to the Lord, be truthful and honest with him, that will please him even more it shows the Lord that he can count on you to be faithful unto him. Look at your heart and where it’s at? Do you think the Lord is pleased, let us make sure our heart and our mind is on God and right with him no matter what comes your way. Remember honesty with the Lord is the best, God remembers and rewards those who remain loyal.

  31. 31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.

Safety is of the Lord but the success of any battle depends not upon any human strength, but merely upon God’s providence, He is the one who gives the victory when and to whom he pleaseth. Be on His side if you expect to win any battle.

  32. 21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
Matthew 6:33 should be one thats stamped to your heart. Its in every answer we seek when were in trouble. When i don’t know which way to look i always look to the one who made nothing into something. People ask if everything was created by God then who created God. Well thats easy there was no creation until he created. A loved one spoke to me today worried about a situation i simply asked them if they trust the Lord. They were quick to say yes, so i responded then seek ye first the Kingdom and all these things shall be added unto you. We gotta practice what we preach. Gods preparing us for something and every one of those situation is a faith riser for each of us.

  33. In this chapter I think it was trying to say that God has prepared everything and everyone in His hands! Our whole future is already planned out by Him but we just have to be willing to comment and stand by Him. We must give our life and full trust to God, so he can deal with us!

  34. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is why we are to pray for our leaders. God controls them. In the Bible God allowed for good leaders and bad leaders to lead his people. We should constantly pray that God would speak to and guide our leaders.

After leaders it speaks of water. Water is life giving. Many times there are settlements among the waters because of their need and resources. Waters can be used to sustain, but they can also be deadly when they get too forceful or too full. For these same reasons we should pray that God would guide our leaders to make them life giving and not forceful and too full of themselves. Leaders like waters can be nourishing or deadly.

  35. 25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.

Proof in the scripture that laziness will kill you. Lol, we always made the joke as kids. Being lazy and refusing to do work does not get you ahead in life, but rather slow you down. Don’t be lazy in your personal life or in your ministry. Always look to work. How can we make a do better for His Kingdom and for our own home and everyday life. I try to always work hard and help in any way possible, at church, in ministry, at work, and especially at home where it matters so very much!!

30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.

  36. “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

A lot of stress can be avoided by keeping ourselves. When we live Jesus and listen when the Holy Ghost says ‘Don’t say that’ or ‘Leave it alone’ we give Jesus to those we interact with. I thank God for His many lessons on keeping my mouth and tongue. I pray we heed the voice of God and seek to sow unity amongst those around us and not division

  37. Verse 8 MSG “Mixed motives twist life into tangles; pure motives take you straight down the road.” Do not get tangled up in things that you have no business in! This portion of verses is captioned “God Examines Our Motives”; so, we must make sure that our motives align with His will. Verse 29 MSG says “Unscrupulous people fake it a lot; honest people are sure of their steps.” So, you’ll be sure of your steps and go straight down the road as we LIVE – GIVE JESUS.

  38. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.

God knows our true intentions and how situations may affect us because of the condition of our hearts. He may not answer prayers the way we asked because He knows deeper than we do how it will affect us. Thank You, my King, for being the protector of my soul.

  39. “Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It’s easy to judge the poor, the needy, those with less than us but we have to remember we all fall in hard times. What if you not helping those in need made you pass up on a blessing that may have been yours if you lent a helping hand? We should love each other enough to help a brother or sister in need. We can’t expect others to be willing to help us in our times of trouble if we cannot do the same.

  40. A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart.

Amén! The heart is deceiving, we can’t go by what we think is right or wrong but by what the Word of God says. We all have our own opinions and concepts of what is good and bad but at the end of the day what matters is what does God think? Are we doing His will, our will, or someone else’s will? If you need guidance in doing the right thing then read His Word. He never lies and is always faithful!!!

  41. 17 “You’re addicted to thrills? What an empty life! The pursuit of pleasure is never satisfied.”

When we are rooted in the Word for God, we rely on His Truth, and trust in Him not our feelings. We are THRILLED to see someone be baptized in Jesus Name. We are THRILLED to see someone fall in love with Jesus, and turn from their own ways. This is LIVING Jesus, we are thrilled in the things He is thrilled in!
