1 Kings 6

And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord.

And the house which king Solomon built for the Lord, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.

And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.

And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:

The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.

And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.

So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.

10 And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

15 And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the ceiling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.

16 And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place.

17 And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.

18 And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.

19 And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

20 And the oracle in the forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar.

21 So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.

22 And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.

23 And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high.

24 And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.

25 And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubims were of one measure and one size.

26 The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.

27 And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.

28 And he overlaid the cherubims with gold.

29 And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.

30 And the floors of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.

31 And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree: the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall.

32 The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees.

33 So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.

34 And the two doors were of fir tree: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.

35 And he carved thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.

36 And he built the inner court with three rows of hewed stone, and a row of cedar beams.

37 In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the Lord laid, in the month Zif:

38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

  1. 13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

This reminds me of the scripture that says if the Lord does not build the house he labored in vein. Now that we are under the new covenant, the Holy Spirit dwells within us, thusly our body is the temple. Therefore if we are to receive the blessings of the Lord we must be consecrated to the work of the Lord. Are faith is shown by our works and as the New Testament scripture says, faith without works is dead.

  2. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

The word of the Lord will come to us, as we build our lives around his statutes, and execute His judgments, and keep all His commandments, and to walk in them. And he will live within us. Amen.

  3. 12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

Solomon was given the opportunity that his father wanted to achieve but could not. As the Lord spake unto Solomon he made it very clear, that Solomon was to walk in his statutes, execute his judgments, keep all his commandments to walk in them, and God would perform his word and dwell among the children of Israel. Solomon was the wisest of all kings and be came the blessed of all kings because of his humility to God.

When we as the church do as Solomon did, we will reap the same benefits of the blessings of God. We have to maintain the same disciplines as Solomon and adhere to the word of God. We have the greatest opportunity to reap a great harvest in this day we are living in and we can not do it on our own. We have to obey the very words that are spoken to guide us. It can not be our will but his will in our lives. That is the only way we as Christians can prosper in the kingdom of God. We have to live give Jesus and the only way to successfully do that is putting first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness then all the things we need will be added.

  4. ““ Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in My statutes and execute My precepts and keep all My commandments by walking in them, then I will carry out My word (promises) with you which I made to David your father. I will dwell among the sons (descendants) of Israel, and will not abandon My people Israel.””
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭6:12-13‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Obedience always brings protection over every life. It allows us to walk in the spirit and gives us the ability to have the mind of Christ. As His word says…’He will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.’

  5. These are the steps of praying through the tabernacle why don’t we all try this today
    Step 1- THE GATE
Here, we enter into His gate with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise (Psalm 100:4)
    Step 2- THE BRAZEN ALTAR
For sinful man to even approach a holy God, there must be a blood sacrifice. Jesus died as an atonement for our sins. The brazen altar is where we repent and rid ourselves of our sinful deeds and desires.
Step 3- THE LAVER OF WATER
Once sins were atoned for, cleansing was necessary before serving in the Holy Place. We must look into the mirror of; be washed by; and apply His Word as cleansing so we may serve and minister before Him.
    Step 4- THE FIVE PILLARS
Each pillar symbolizes one of the characteristics of God named by Isaiah.
    Step 5- THE GOLDEN CANDLESTICK
This oil is symbolic of the illuminating and revelatory power of the Holy Ghost. The priest’s duty was to keep the wicks trimmed so the lamp would exude pure light without smoke.
Step 6- THE TABLE OF SHEWBREAD
The table/bread symbolized God’s willingness to fellowship with man and him to be in His presence.
Step 7- THE GOLDEN ALTAR OF INCENSE
Only the fire of repentance can burn the incense of our intercession. This is a symbol of our prayers and intercession going up to God as a sweet fragrance.
    Step 8- THE VEIL
It represents the flesh of Jesus rent in the final sacrifice and marked physical separation from the spiritual. Whoever went into the Holy of Holies entered into God’s very presence.
Step 9- THE HOLY OF HOLIES
Inside the Holy of Holies was the Ark of the Covenant which contained three symbolic items: a golden pot of manna, Aaron’s staff that budded, and the stone containing the Ten Commandments. The Mercy Seat, where God communed with man, rested as the top of the ark. Because the ark was God’s throne among His people, it was a symbol of His presence and power.

  6. Verses 11-13 MSG “The word of God came to Solomon saying, “About this Temple you are building—what’s important is that you live the way I’ve set out for you and do what I tell you, following my instructions carefully and obediently. Then I’ll complete in you the promise I made to David your father. I’ll personally take up my residence among the Israelites—I won’t desert my people Israel.” This chapter describes the building of the temple and it’s details; but, God reminds Solomon of what’s important in these verses, that he too build his life as He’s set out for him. It is so important that we also follow His instructions carefully and obediently in order to accomplish what He has for us. Today’s daily focus reminded me of something way back, when teaching was a thing, that used to come on Saturday mornings on Schoolhouse Rock “Conjunction Junction, what’s your function?

Conjunction: a word used to connect clauses or sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause (e.g. and, but, if ).

Junction: a point where two or more things are joined.

Function: an activity or purpose natural to or intended for a person or thing, work or operate in a proper or particular way

So, Conjunction (But, if) Junction (we are joined/unity), what’s your function (to work in a particular way) we will have the Unction (and be ready and willing to obey)?

  7. 1 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord.

38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

    Never give up.
Whatever God has called you to do, He will see you through. It may take a few years to get started, but if you persevere, it will be worth it in the end.

  8. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,
12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

When we are obedient, God will finish what He started and use us to accomplish His Will. Just like our focus for consecration today, we must be sensitive, obedient, and willing to serve when He calls.

  9. 1 Kings 6: 11-12 [ amp] Now the word of the Lord came to Soloman, saying.
[12] Concerning this house which you are building,
If you will walk in My statutes, execute My precepts, and keep all My commandments to walk in them, then I will fulfill to you My promises which I made to David your father.
This chapter was about that Soloman had build the house and had finished it.
What kind of house are you building!
If you love Jesus , You will keep my commandments.
1 Corinthians 3: 17 [ amp] If anyone does hurt to God’s temple or corrupts it [ with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to corruption of death and destroy him. For the [ temple] you [ the believing church and its individual believers] are.
I building my house with Jesus!
    Jesus is my rock !

  10. 7 years in building and obeying God. I find great enjoyment and self worth in living for God. God will give us many task if he can trust us.i want to be trusted and be the apple of Gods eye. Glory to God in the highest.

  11. 12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

It was a beautiful and very expensive temple. Solomon spared no expense in building it. However, that’s not the reason God chose to dwell there. I believe it was because they lived Jesus and there obeisance to do His will.

  12. 1 Kings 6
11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

We are the temple of the Lord. As we are fasting may we understand that Jesus is in us. Jesus Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; The kingdom of God is in us. perfecting us until we enter to his Heaven.

  13. 6:13 and I will dwell among the children of Israel
And will not forsake my people Isrrael.

    —-
Yes, it’s good to do things for the lord
Of course it it! But what before we
Worked hard and stay busy here and there
It is more important that I obey and keep his commandments.
Then we will walk in 100% confidence.

  14. The entire building was completed in every detail by midautumn, in the month of Bul, during the eleventh year of his reign. So it took seven years to build the Temple.
    1 Kings 6:38 NLT

Taking our time and making sure the work of the Lord is done thoroughly is another way we honor and revere God. We don’t need to always rush through things. Taking our time, slowing down, and really experiencing the work of the Lord for what it is changes a person. Everytime we do outreach, serve at the door, teach children, scrub bathrooms, print invitations, mow the lawn we are changed internally. You cannot do God’s Work and remain the same.

There are so many blessings just from serving God. He may be a jealous God, but He’s certainly not a selfish God. Everything always has an reciprocation when it turns around and comes back to us. Glory to God. Thank You Jesus.

  15. “ Concerning this temple which you are building, if you walk in My statutes, execute My judgments, keep all My commandments, and walk in them, then I will perform My word with you, which I spoke to your father David. And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake My people Israel.”
    I Kings 6:12‭-‬13 NKJV

When there is obedience, His promises will surely follow. This is the key to activate what God has spoken into our lives, even promises that He has made to our ancestors. When we obey His commands and His will, He will always dwell among us

  16. 12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

All throughout the word of God, you see different methods and ways of doing things. God has kept the same principles and used different methods during different times and situations. One of the things that has remained consistent is also the one that is common throughout , the beginning to the end. God constantly reminds his people that if they will follow him and obey then he will continue to protect them and bless them. That doesn’t mean bad things won’t happen it just means God will be at your side and you will be in his will while you face trials. Obedience is not easy but it is that simple

  17. 1 Kings 6:7 (BBE) (And the stones used in the building of the house were squared at the place where they were cut out; there was no sound of hammer or axe or any iron instrument while they were building the house.)

Two things caught my attention in this translation.
The word squared and silence .
Could it be that Jesus being the chief corner stone wanted each stone to be squared representing the multiplication of His glory ? This temple was to be a representation of God’s dwelling. Then I thought about the building without sound . We sometimes thing noise is constructive but at this moment in the chaos of this world noise seems to be chaotic situations. Uprising voices speaking against the word of God . When Jesus came into the world it was on a Silent Night . No big fan fair just the animals , a stinky barn and his mother and earthly father . Silence to me is when I am Still Before the throne if God allowing Him to speak to me. So why the silence in building this temple ? It seems virtually impossible to build without noise yet the verse specified silence. We must push away from the glamour of what ever we may building for the Kingdom. The stones were being squared to be placed in the temple. Could it be we are stones the word says lively stones . I believe our personal time of devotion begins with being silent in His presence so that we can be squared to be placed just where God wants us in His Kingdom. Each stone was much needed and was placed . God today in your presence square me do that you being the Chief Cornerstone will be reflected through me in this world filled with noise . Let my life reflect You that no matter if I never say a word ( which I will say a word daily to someone Your Word ) but that my life speaks You. Glory and Honor to You let me be a lively stone for the Kingdom.
In reflection of that as a testimony of God’s glory then people will walk up to you and say I believing you are a praying woman ; would you pray for me. Even in the midst of all the clamor of this world we can walk as Jesus did and in silence bring hope to someone just by a mere smile touch and a gentle word . It will change the life of someone.
Squared stones being placed throughout this world reflecting God’s Glory . They will come . We God’s disciples will bring them . In Jesus Name.

1 Peter 2:5, KJV: “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” … 1 Peter 2:5, NLT: “And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple.

  18. 38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

7 years and it was completed. The number 7 can also refer to completion or perfection, it is also the day of rest in creation and we are to strive to enter into his rest-the 7th day. I don’t believe it was coincidence that Solomon completed the temple in 7 years. There was a plan to follow in the building of this temple and it was beyond beautiful when it was complete. Entering into his rest-Heaven- will be beyond beautiful when we see what he has prepared for us!

    PATIENTLY BUILD

38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

We have been BLESSED at The POFW to BUILD a house for the LORD. I thought the BUILDING process took too long and it did according to our standards today. But we learn from the detailed description in this chapter that to BUILD something for the LORD takes time.

The effort invested in the details and the resources used to beautify the temple, were no doubt astonishing.

May we consider this Temple as we BUILD our temple this week through Prayer and Fasting. The same excellence and details should be invested in our eternal soul through this temporal body.

1Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

The wisdom of Solomon is on display here in the effort and investment into building the Temple or House of GOD which we are. I pray JESUS guide us in the same fashion and passion to BUILD our lifestyle in and around JESUS, that we would not be cheap with our time, talent or treasure. But invest graciously and generously into this temple called our body.

  20. I kings 6:11,12 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon saying, Concerning this house (temple) which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word(promises) with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

2 Samuel 7:13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom forever.

The temple was made strictly conditional on obedience.
We get to enjoy the blessings promised if we keep the faith and obey God.

  21. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

Wow, what a magnificent temple that was built for the Lord. The important thing to see here is that it took time to get this done. Actually, it took 7 long years to get it done. Sometimes we get impatient as we embark on doing God’s will, however we must realize that the work is in fact getting done…one stone at a time. (Looks like we have at least 2 years of work on this country to get things back in order).

Conclusion: I’m sure everything didn’t go Solomon’s way while he was building the Temple just like it didn’t go our way in 2020 but, We will press on and see the glory of the Lord!

  22. 7 And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

I see a mirror of the church or temple of CHRIST!!! Just like In heaven there will be no need for iron head tools , there will be no need for GOD to continue to work on US. We will be ready to enter into our eternal reward ,just like those stones were previously worked on to stay its position in the church!!!

  23. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

What is the use of building a temple if you do not obey His commandments nor walk according to His word. That’s the problem with a lot of the churches out there in the world. Yes, they might off built the most amazing buildings full of luxury but what is the use of inside there is no LIGHT NOR HOLY GHOST!!!! I am so happy to know that inside POFW TRUTH IS PREACHED!!!! That is full of THE LIGHT OF GOD AND HOLY GHOST!!! And JESUS DWELLS THERE!!! Thank you JESUS FOR POFW!!!

  24. “And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭6:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The vision won’t happen overnight! It takes work and time and we have to be in this for the long haul. I imagine, like in all building, there was some hiccups and bumps along the way but good enough isn’t acceptable, especially while doing the Lord’s work. I thank God for the encouragement He provides along the way to keep us. I pray we see the value in taking the time to make sure a job is complete and not good enough.

  25. What is it worth to you?

21 So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold

I always wondered why the temple was so expensive and why it had gold everywhere. In prayer this morning God asked me a simple question. “What’s it worth to you?” The answer is this gold that Solomon was overlaying everything with symbolized the value of the house of God to him. It didn’t have anything to do with God wanting everything Gold. It’s purpose is to symbolize the value. How valuable is the place that saved my life and turned me around? How valuable is the place that has saved marriages and relationships between families? How valuable is a place that meets with sinners and shows them the way to heaven? This gold is not to show off but it is to show value. Today we don’t have our temple overlaid with gold but it’s value is still the same. So to answer God’s question to me this morning, it has been worth everything. Let the temple be pure gold in our eyes because without it God only knows where we would be.

  26. 12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
15 And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the ceiling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.
16 And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place.

Solomon built the temple of the Lord were Thieves and robbers can come in and steal All the gold and beauty. We now have Jesus Christ in our heart and nobody can take it away from us we are at the temple of the Holy Spirit and no one and nothing can take it away from us, in Jesus name.

  27. “The stones used in the construction of the Temple were finished at the quarry, so there was no sound of hammer, ax, or any other iron tool at the building site. The entrance to the bottom floor was on the south side of the Temple. There were winding stairs going up to the second floor, and another flight of stairs between the second and third floors. After completing the Temple structure, Solomon put in a ceiling made of cedar beams and planks. As already stated, he built a complex of rooms along the sides of the building, attached to the Temple walls by cedar timbers. Each story of the complex was 7 1 / 2 feet high.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭6:7-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
This speaks to the way God works in His people. Often the greatest work in the Kingdom of God happens quietly. Yet the building site of the temple was only quiet because there was a lot of noise and diligent work at the quarry.

  28. 1 Kings 6:6-7,20

[6]The complex was three stories high, the bottom floor being 71/2 feet wide, the second floor 9 feet wide, and the top floor 101/2 feet wide. The rooms were connected to the walls of the Temple by beams resting on ledges built out from the wall. So the beams were not inserted into the walls themselves.

[20]This inner sanctuary was 30 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 30 feet high. He overlaid the inside with solid gold. He also overlaid the altar made of cedar.

The Lord is a strong tower who is worthy of all praise. One of the greatest defenses that we have in this world to help us fight against the devices of Satan, is the name of the Lord. Once we begin to gain an understanding of this important aspect of the Christian life, we will then begin to grasp the absolute security that we have in Him.

In Proverbs 18:10, we read of this security: “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous run into it, and are safe.”

Judges 9:51: “But there was a strong tower in the city, and all the men and women — all the people of the city — fled there and shut themselves in; then they went up to the top of the tower.

[7]The stones used in the construction of the Temple were finished at the quarry, so there was no sound of hammer, ax, or any other iron tool at the building site.

The Lord is our Rock who is worthy to be praised. Rocks provided shade, shelter, and safety in the wilderness and were used to construct altars, temples, houses, and city walls. Heaps of stones were also used to commemorate important events in Israel’s history. God’s commandments, given to Moses, were etched on stone so that all generations would learn His law. The word “rock” epitomizes His enduring faithfulness. The Hebrew noun tsur is often translated “rock” or “stone,” while petra is the Greek word for rock. To worship Yahweh Tsuri (yah-WEH tsu-REE) is to echo Hannah’s great prayer of praise:
There is no Rock like our God.
     1 Samuel 2:2
We will have our battles but like David we can respond with humility and trust, defending ourselves without giving in to our desire to retaliate, confident that the God whom David called his Rock — the One who is true to every promise — is the same God who is with us. The names of God are His powerful attributes. “Rock” creates a tremendous picture of strength, endurance, and reliability. Steady as a rock. Strong as a rock. Firm as a rock. Our God can be depended upon because He is the beginning and the end!

    Thank you Jesus

  29. 1 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

God is so mindful of us that He has a specific plan for us to build our spiritual house as well as our natural house (family, life, relationships)

He instructed Solomon that if he would continue to walk in the statues of His ways and keep His commandments, executing His judgements then He would perform the work that had been promised unto his father David.

God gives us daily instructions through the Word of God and through our listening heart in prayer. It’s up to us to follow those instructions, to build the way HE instructs us to and to not go off and off and do our own thing.

We have the promises of God that if we will follow His path, He will perform those promises that are in His word in our lives: favor, blessings, health, strength, provision and eternal salvation.

  30. And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord.

2 And the house which king Solomon built for the Lord, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.

3 And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

4 And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.

5 And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:

6 The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.

  31. 11Then the LORD gave this message to Solomon: 12“Concerning this Temple you are building, if you keep all my decrees and regulations and obey all my commands, I will fulfill through you the promise I made to your father, David.

God will fulfill his promises of blessings, healings and salvation for you. Make a vow to God, that you will follow his decrees and obey his commands. Its easier than you think. Doing what is right, prayer, worship and praise.

  32. 13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

15 And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the ceiling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.

  33. 1 Kings 6:12-13
    12) Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
    13) and I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

While in building this house, our temple (for we are the temple of the Holy Ghost), we have a promise from God that He will dwell (live) in us and never leave us nor forsake us, if we will walk in His statutes (laws), execute His judgments, and keep and obey His commandments, His Word.

Thank You JESUS that You will perform Your Word.
Thank You JESUS that You keep Your Promises.

  34. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

We must listen the voice of the Lord and maintaining our temples (our bodies) and strengthen areas of our lives that are slacking. It’s so easy in this day and time to listen to the wrong voices out of fear and frustration from the chaos around us. When our temples are weak we will be unable to hear God’s clearly and be a true authentic witness for Him!

  35. 19-22 MSG “…Everywhere you looked there was pure gold…”

We should take pride in every inch of the Lord’s house. From the parking lot to the restrooms. Everywhere we look should represent Him. Every decoration, surface, and even media should be the best He is deserving of.

  36. In this chapter Solomon built a temple for God. Solomon was chosen to build a temple for God. We have to prove that we are righteous bad worthy of the kingdom of God. Are you ready to build your temple? Have you built your temple? We need to review these questions in order to know how we are handling our kingdom life. Let’s make sure that we are being worthy of the kingdom by following His laws and instructions!

  37. and within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high.

24 And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.

25 And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubims were of one measure and one size.

I could just imagine the big cherubim and the detail that they made them. Everything he made was for a purpose. These cherubim were 15 feet tall. This entire building took 20 years. Which makes me think that everything takes time. We will see what we have prayed for in time, we will see revival with time, we will receive our blessing with time, we will receive our healing with time. Don’t rush Gods perfection.

  38. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

When the lord speaks a word into our spirit we should always be obedient and willing to listen and follow what the lord is speaking to us, if the lord speaks into our spirit to pray for the lost we should never quench the spirit but obey and do his will.

  39. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

14 So Solomon built the house, and finished.

    Psalm 27:4
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

David knew that a temple would be a place to bring people together to worship God, and that it was his number one desire to dwell there all the days of his life. We need to have this kind of fire in our lives like David. God let that be our number one desire today to dwell with you and let you be everything in our lives.

  40. 12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

How are you building your temple? What are you filling it with?

If we are to build our temple to His pledging it must be built with the whole armor of God!

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:11‬ ‭KJV‬

  41. 9 So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.

Every task that God gives out is important to finish. In finishing is where your blessing comes from. Don’t be deceived that you can do a job half way and still get blessed from it. God is looking for people who are willing to go all the way. This world needs people of God that is willing to go all the way. We must push passed our own feelings to do what God wants us to do. We become stronger the more we do in the name of Jesus.

  42. And he carved thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.

So was he seven years in building .

Before I got married, only thing I could tell you about cedar beams it that they were pretty and I would love to have a house with them in. After getting married cedar beams and building a house have taken on a whole new meaning.

As I read this chapter a very detailed blueprint began to construct itself and my head. Memories of past projects and stories from my husband and brother in law of how heavy, how many hours and guys it took to set just one cedar beam. I recalled the fact that just one cedar beam could literally carry the weight needed for a decorative stone wall or the entire second floor of structure. Solomon temple had many. Overkill on structurally sound by today’s building standards. But can we ever be to structurally sound when building a temple for the Lord.

Solomon took the time to build temple that would not be easily destroyed, that could withstand battles that were sure to come.

As I look at my own life and the temple (life, marriage, ministry)we are building for God, I pray that we also remember that the cedar beams that we are installing are more then just for decorative purposes. That each cedar will carry the weight of the lessons we have learned. Serving as landmark moments in our walk with God creating a being that will not be easily moved or shaken. That one day this temple that the Lord is constructing will be able to stand up to pressure of the outside world.

  43. 13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

When we become His children, God dwells in us and will not forsaken us. What blessing to know that we are not alone. Yes the road can get bumpy and rough but we are not alone! We will get through it with Jesus on our side. Praise God!

  44. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

  45. In life I’ve realized just like Solomon and what he was building. God is building us daily and I need to build myself up with the Gold God gives us.

    • Oh so true my nephew. His word is finer than gold such a treasure fir our life daily .
How sweet are Your words to my taste–sweeter than honey in my mouth! Psalm 119:127.
Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.

  46. 13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
    1 Kings 6:13 KJV

We are the children of the Lord and we have always been. God chose each and everyone of us, he has a special purpose for each and everyone of us and he will be with us every step of the way. See God is the only true one, and he will never leave you alone in your battles, or in your most hardest and darkest moments in life. Let us all remember that God places things and may puts some bumps in your life for you to grow and learn. Let us give all the Thanks and praise to God for he is always with us loving us and giving us strength!

  47. “And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying, Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father: And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel. So Solomon built the house, and finished it.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭6:11-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God promises are yes and amen. God will come to us and reveal what is going to do for us if we continue to endure. In the middle of Solomon building god gave him a promise. We see that it took a long time for this temple to be built. Solomon could have gave up but he held on to the promises of god. As Christians we must learn to hold on to what god promises us. It may get rough and we feel that it’s not going to happen but we must continue to trust and believe. Solomon could have gave up after receiving that word from god but we see that after god spoke he got back to work. When god speaks we must not stop and expect it to just happen. Sometimes we gonna have to work and endure until the promise of god comes.

  48. Solomon had a lot do to build the temple. There was much precision in everything that had to be done. For people of our Lord Jesus, it takes time, energy, love, righteousness, and devotion to become a true witness for Lord Jesus. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it can take time to be a great steward for Jesus. We must strive daily to make our temple righteous.

  49. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,
12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

There is always a price for great reward. Sometimes the price is not as hard as we think, but only as hard as we make it.
Jesus tells us that his commands are not grievous, and they aren’t. We just have to choose to sacrifice our flesh and give up the distractions so that we can keep our eyes on the prize, JESUS.

  50. In this chapter we see that there is a lot of attention on details. I am thankful that we serve a God that looks at every detail. We can be confident that everything that we are going through he is aware of. He’s aware of every detail of our lives.

  51. 12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

What are you building? This verse from psalms came to mind:
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
    Psalms 127:1 KJV

Whatever it is that you have set to establish, build if you would, the Lord needs to be the foundation, the master builder, the Lord over the whole thing. Get him involved that what you do may not ge in vain.

  52. 12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:

When you are obedient to the word or commands of God he will keep his promises too! Let us keep our commands and seek his kingdom.

  53. 1 Kings 6

This Chapter means that, We should make a way to make and prepare A Temple for The Lord like an altar so The Holy Spirit can rain down on us to Glorify Our Lord And Savior Jesus Christ.

  54. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

When God calls His children, no matter what He’s calling us for, we must be obedient, whether it’s singing on the platform or building an entire temple, He has called us as He knows us individually and knows what each of us will excel in. There will never be a calling on us that isn’t meant for us.

  55. 1 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord.

38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

Four Hundred and eighteen years later!! It took four hundred and eighteen years from once the Children of Israel left Egypt until they began to build their first permanent tabernacle. Then it took them seven years to fully finish this building project. After years of wandering, moving around, “nomading”, they finally had what had been promised and what they had prayed for after four hundred and eighteen years! And sometimes we complain that we pray for something and don’t see the result the very next day!! . . . We live in a society that we want things immediately. We live in a society that we can get everything in a matter of seconds. Google is literally at our fingertips with information. Alexa is their to follow commands and answer questions immediately after hearing our requests and/or questions. We can check our mail online, order groceries, food, and deliveries and have it within the hour. So, with all of that being said it is easy to understand our thought process of why we would expect instantaneously answered prayers. . . But we must look and remember that our God is an “ON TIME” God and not an “OUR TIME” God. Next time we want a prayer answered, remember four hundred and eighteen years!!! “ . . . in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, . . . he began to build the house of the Lord.”

“He’s an on time God, yes, He is
Oh, on time God, yes, He is.
He may not come when you want Him,
    But He’ll be there right on time;
    He’s an on time God,”

  56. Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
    1 Kings 6:12 KJV

In our relationship with God, we have to keep His instructions and obey what the word of God is telling us to do. Lets be God faithful servant and show the loss of His great and merciful salvation, and the promises will he perform in our walk to reveal that He is a promise keeper.

  57. “So was he seven years in building it.” It has always fascinated me on how exact the Bible is when it comes to numbers. Especially, the number 7, it’s all over the place, starting with the very beginning in the book of Genesis. God created the world in just 7 days, 7 is perfection, and he rested on the 7th day. So I truly don’t believe that it was a coincidence that the Lords temple took 7 years to build. Also, while researching facts about the number 7 for this commentary, I read, I’ve posted the link further down, that while Jesus was on the cross, He spoke 7 sentences,
    1. “Then said Jesus, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” “And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” (Luke 23:34)
    2. “And Jesus said unto him, “Verily I say to unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43)
    3. “When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, “Woman, behold thy son!” “Then saith he to the disciple, “Behold thy mother!” “And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.” (John 19:26-27)
    4. “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” “that is to say, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46)
    5. “After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, “I thirst.” (John 19:28)
    6. “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished:” “and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” (John 19:30)
    7. “And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit:” “and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. (Luke 23:46.
I encourage you to read from the Christianity.com com website from the link provided here

    https://www.christianity.com/wiki/bible/what-is-the-biblical-significance-of-the-number-7.html

It covers in great detail so many other amazing facts, such as Jesus healed 7 people on the 7th day, 7 seals, 7 trumpets sounded by 7 angels, 7 bowls of God’s promised wrath carried by seven angels, and so many more. It’s definitely not a coincidence when it comes to the word, and I hope you enjoy learning about his word as much as I do. Praise Jesus, Amen!

  58. “The foundation of the temple of the Lord was laid in the fourth year, in the month of Ziv. In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭6:37-38‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It took Solomon seven years to complete the temple, making sure every stone was in its place just right and everything was measured just precisely. Obviously, it could’ve been built in a much shorter time frame but it wouldn’t be to the liking that God had in mind. Our ministry and the plan God has for us is a process, everything needs to go through the proper planning, proper preparation, and proper execution. Sure, we can cut corners and probably arrive at the same destination in a much quicker time frame but would it be to God’s liking? Absolutely not. Don’t try to cut corners in hopes to hasten the process, but rather go with it and allow the plans he has laid out for you go according to plan to be the best possible version of it.

  59. 11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

The word was spoken to David yet Solomon was given the chance to have what was spoken to his father. Once Hod speaks a word into the atmosphere it can’t return to Him void and the mantle of that word can fall to someone else yet as long as they are willing and obedient. This is the importance of walking in the Spirit and in obedience to the word of God.
