Proverbs 25

These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.

Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:

For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.

Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.

Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:

10 Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.

11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.

14 Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.

16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.

17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.

18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.

23 The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.

24 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.

25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

  1. Proverbs 25

1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.

6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:

7 For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.

  2. A person without self control is like a house with all the windows and doors knocked out…..the Message translation ….he that has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down and without walls….New King James Version. When I want to be out of control I do it in a positive way, before God in prayer because he listens and helps without judgement. What a great God we serve. People will let you down, God will lift you up!

  3. 4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

Dross- is defined as something regarded as worthless; rubbish. or foreign matter, dregs, or mineral waste, in particular scum formed on the surface of molten metal.

This is what usually rises to the top of molten metal when the metal is heated and put in its liquid form. This is all the impurities that the refiner takes out of the metal only leaving the pure metal whether silver or gold.

This lets me know that when we come before god and he puts us under the pressure and places us in the fire, He wants to remove all the rubbish and all the impurities from our lives. As the scripture states a vessel will come forth for the finer. Once we have removed all of the rubbish or garbage that does not belong, then God has a vessel to receive the anointing, to receive his spirit, to receive our purpose and we can be used mightily in the kingdom of God. So when we decrease so that He may increase we have only room for him. There are so many things that will cause us to lose focus on the kingdom of God and his righteousness. We don’t have anything to worry about except that we make room for the blessings of God. Live Jesus everyday so that we can continue to have enough Jesus to make a difference when we give Jesus.

  4. Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

I pray this a lot. “Lord, remove from me what’s not pleasing to You. Refine me as You refine the silver. ” When you pray that it can sometimes be suprizing what God removes that you didn’t realize was harmful. The Lord is faithful to us.

  5. Verse 26 AMP “Like a muddied fountain and a polluted spring Is a righteous man who yields and compromises his integrity before the wicked.” We should never give way to demands or pressure, as the enemy is wanting you to compromise or sabotage your integrity.

Verse 28 AMP says “Like a city that is broken down and without walls [leaving it unprotected] Is a man who has no self-control over his spirit [and sets himself up for trouble]. We must be very careful and implement our self-control as to not leave the umbrella of His protection. Psalm 91:1-4 AMP says “He who [a] dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!” For He will save you from the trap of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you and completely protect you with His pinions, And under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and a wall.” Resist the Resistance and stay covered by the blood of Jesus.

  6. 7 For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen

This is the same principle that Jesus teaches, whenever you come into someone’s house to sit in the lonely seat, because it’s better to sit there and be invited to sit in the higher than the other way around. A key to being humble is not feeling entitled to anything just because of your position or your role in life. To know that you are nothing without Christ and allow Christ to build you from the ground up.

  7. Proverbs 25:20 singing songs to a troubled heart
Is like taking off clothing on a cold day, or like
    Pouring vinagre on soda.
    —-
Help me Lord!!! That I may be able to discern
The times and what the person is going through
So that my words may be like honey to her ( him)
And not the other way around.
Forgive me Lord if I have done this to someone…
Because it has happened to me before
And you know I have asked you:
Why? Why Lord? How can this person be like that
If it’s suppose to be my “ friend” one to support me
    One in who
    I can trust ….
Anyways, I 🙏 that I may be a blessing to someone
I pray for my God to help me through the guidance of his Holy Spirit, to know when to open my mouth
And to know what to say at the right time.
    Hallelujah, God is good!!!

  8. 27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
    Luke 18:14

Serve in humility and God will raise you up. Work pridefully and you will be set to humility.

  9. 19. Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

    26. A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

Be careful about who you put your confidence in – yes we need each other and we help each other out, but humans are all subject to weak moments. If you are leaning on someone too heavily, or depending on them for your only source of water, you may fall with them or get tainted water.

  10. Proverbs 25:4-5 MSG
“Remove impurities from the silver and the silversmith can craft a fine chalice; Remove the wicked from leadership and authority will be credible and God-honoring.”
    ‭‭
Silver isn’t valuable unless it has gone through the fire and all its impurities has been removed. When God puts us through the fire it’s to remove our impurities. It can be difficult to go through but it’s worth it in the end.

  11. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    FAITHFULNESS AND DISCIPLINE

28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Life with JESUS is more than simply following a book of rules for a reward. In fact it is a Life Change, with temptation and opposition. This Proverb is a great asset to the Christian believer.

We are responsible for our choices and decisions, we are called by GOD into HIS Kingdom. We choose how failthful we are to HIS Will and WORD. When temptation arises, I rule my spirit, when opposition arises, I rule my spirit. We must move away from blaming others for our own lack of discipline. Each of us is given a personal will by GOD. We are most effective for the Kingdom of GOD when we surrender our will for HIS Will.

To be unfaithful is to lack rule over our own spirit. We reveal our priorities when with our FAITHFULNESS and DISCIPLINE. Our LIFE of FAITHFULNESS and DISCIPLINE are the walls of protection to and for our walk with GOD.

  12. Prov. 25 : 11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
12] As an earring of gold , and an ornament of fine gold. so is a wise reporter upon an obeinant ear.
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
    Pray before you speak!
If you dont have anything nice to say dont say it at all.
Lord let my thoughts and words be pleasing to you in Jesus name.

  13. Proverbs 25:11, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”

    “A Word Fitly Spoken”
On the side note of my Bible it says, “like apples of gold in baskets of silver.” How beautiful would this look. How valuable would this be?
The same holds true with our words we speak. When we speak “a word fitly,” when we speak beautiful, valuable, appropriate words at the right time, they can bring healing, strength, hope, etc.. to a person’s heart or situation.
So today be wise and timely about the words you speak, and let them be Life to someone and their situation.

  14. Proverbs 25
Don’t jump to conclusions—there may be
a perfectly good explanation for what you just saw.

Judge not lest you be judged.
Too many times we jump to a conclusion by something we see or hear without knowing the details.
I pray that I can see with God’s eyes and be sensitive.
I pray that I will be cautious at what I speak to anyone about others .

    Remove impurities from the silver
    and the silversmith can craft a fine chalice;
    Remove the wicked from leadership
and authority will be credible and God-honoring.

Remove anything that is in pleasing to You Lord in my life that as I serve I never bring disgrace to your name.

  15. A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

We judge those who have backslid and can’t like we know what they have gone through. By doing so a lot of people are scared of being judge by the so called saints. But to expand and grow we must love all and show them God and not speak badly about them

  16. 15 By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.

Here the saying “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” goes out the door. The world tries to hide their pain from everyone and even from GOD, but GOD knows EVERYTHING!!! It is not judgmental to think that as soon as we see someone from the world that they may be hurting….. or have a need!!! It’s common sense or natural coming from the world….if we from the church sometimes carry things that aren’t meant for us to carry in our spirit or heart, then why wouldn’t the world?
Having the love of CHRIST doesn’t mean that you know everything about EVERYone it just means that you would be available to be used by GOD , FOR HIS GLORY!!!

  17. 6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
7 For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.

It is not proper to exhalt ourselves and create our own place to serve in the kingdom – exerting our own will to get there. Rather, we should continue to serve where we are until the Lord promotes us. We could get out of his will through self promotion, which could be detrimental to us in the end. Wait on the Lord.

  18. 12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.

In this last dispensation we can see the mysteries that were veiled in the old covenant. We now have the written word of our Lord, which was robed in flesh. If we harken onto this Word of God we will be refreshed, and have our rewards and just desert in the time of judgement.

  19. 21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.

This is something that my mother said to be all the time. Treat everyone with kindness for friends and enemies are one and the same. You see she didn’t believe in true friendship, she said a friend was a dollar in your pocket once the money was gone so were your friends. I don’t think the same way, but I kept the teaching of being kind to all of them, friends and enemies because it would either change the mind of the enemy or at least be coals on their heads!! God loves us all and He is the only judge so for me it was easier to find at least one good thing on everyone and love them the same. Lord let us be kind to all without prejudice and teach us to love the way you do!! In Jesus Name Amen 🙏🏻

  20. 4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

When the things in your life that are not good is removed, we can do great things. The enemy loves when we are weighed down by the things in our life. God has given us the power over that. We are stronger when we follow after God with all of our heart. Don’t give up the fight, we must continue to press forward.

  21. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

Wow! Many people are so confused as to why certain principles in the Bible “seem” to be hard to understand. Many folk wonder why it appears that Jesus Name baptism is “hidden” in the Word. Well this verse explains why there are some hidden things in the Word. It reveals the glory of God and also increases the value of us searching things out.

  22. Proverbs 25:4 “Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.”

We need to remove immoral people from our lives unless we’re trying to help them find our Lord Jesus Christ. Be careful that they do not become a snare to you. The enemy is tricky but Jesus is true and righteous and can stomp out Satan.
Thank you Jesus for this day!

  23. 2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

In the past, I have seen people wait rather than tattling, because they would rather see Jesus do the work rather than having someone pointing saying that it was man’s doing. When we take the humble road and allow Jesus to do His work, He is able to to so much better.

  24. 1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

  25. 21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.

None of us like to do good to our enemy – but we are instructed in the word yet again in Matthew 5:44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”

If we can heap coals of fire upon their head by loving them even when they are unlovable, we can change their attitude and their heart by doing good to them inspite of what they are doing. It may take awhile, but what the enemy means for evil, God will turn it for good.

  26. 21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.

We must a be soul winning church so we can feed the hungry in body and soul.

  27. 5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.

A person that is surrounded by wicked advice and people will be influenced by it. Yet if you surround yourself with righteous people you will be influenced by righteousness. Let us take heed to this and examine who we surround ourselves with and make adjustments were they are needed

  28. “Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Just like the clouds and wind, people can put on a good show. But with no rain we will see their harvest come up empty or that they aren’t fruitful. This is why we must try the spirit.

  29. 20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

Songs have so much power. Music is a weapon in reality. Many of today’s songs bring about sorrow and distruction to the spirit of man. That is why worship, and praise songs are so important. With them you speak life into the atmosphere and yo iui bless and enthrone God. With them you exalt the one who has power to change your situation with them you can speak life and hope to a broken world.

  30. 4 Remove the impurities from silver, and the sterling will be ready for the silversmith. 5 Remove the wicked from the king’s court, and his reign will be made secure by justice.
    Proverbs 25:4-5 NLT

Many of us in our lives could be having worldly evil things that we don’t even recognize. Many of us could have people influenced by the enemy trying to influence us. See God knows all and he sees all, the Lord will always protect you from evil things and your enemies. The Lord will make sure that anything trying to interfere with him and you growing to be a child of God, he will remove from your life even if you don’t realize it. But you have to be willing to let go and let God take control. Oh Lord I give you my all I let my life in your hands, whatever you see that doesn’t fit you do whatever is best!

  31. In this chapter the word that stuck out to me the most was confidence. What is confidence? Confidence is something we must have to go against almost anything in this world! Do you have confidence? I hope everyone has confidence and overcoming your trials correctly!!!

  32. “Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You are who you hang around. Being around negativity you will be negative. Being around positive you will be positive. You become what you hear and listen to. As Christians we must make sure we are examining ourselves daily and make sure we are in the will of god. We are living in this world but we are not of this world. There is a saying that says you are what you eat. This can be applied in the spiritual. If you don’t read your word go to prayer or fast your not feeding your spirit. Just like the preacher preached tonight we must stay in the spirit. Only way we are going to stay in the spirit is if we examine ourselves daily and make sure whatever is not like him is taken out.

  33. Read the Need, Then Lead

Proverbs 25:21-22 If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For so you will heap coals of fire on his head, And the LORD will reward you.

We need to respond to individuals based on their needs rather than their faults. The Lord encourages us to see what others need—even our enemies—and respond accordingly.

Coals of fire does not refer to revenge or punishment but to pangs of shame that will lead to reconciliation.

    Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

  34. 28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls

Oh how we are tested! But the test proves our walls. When you can’t handle your own spirit it sends up a welcome flag to all other spirits to come take a test drive. You never know what kind of spirit you’ll end up with. This is why we must put on the whole armor of God ( our walls) to defend us against not only the evil spirits around us but our own human spirit. The armor of God keeps those spirits out and our spirit in. Building ourselves up in the Holy Ghost is the for sure way to keep your spirit in check. If He is ruling my spirit then I win.

  35. 21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.

God will never turn you down, if you are hungry for more or thirsty for more of him. Even though you spread lies at the tip of your tongue.

  36. “If the godly give in to the wicked, it’s like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring.”
    Proverbs 25:26 NLT

The sinful life fills a heart full of junk, problems, and fear. Satan is doing everything he can to get you to give into the temptation of sin. Do not give in!!! Keep pressing into the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Don’t lose your hope, God has brought us this far. His blood will always make a way. God wants to set us free from all of our fear, problems, and the weight of sin. Surrender to God and let Him come and cleanse your life and grab a hold of His eternal life.

  37. Proverbs 25:21
If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them water to drink.

    Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

    1 Corinthians 16:14
Let all that you do be done in love

    Luke 6:27-36
“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful

  38. 28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Self control is an action word when giving in is so easy to do. It is turning away from temptation because we know the outcome is destructive. It could be refraining from anger or turning down a donut while fasting. Either way it takes discipline. Something easier said than done. The more we strive to control ourselves the more we put up defense against the enemy. If we don’t stand for something then we will fall for anything. We can stand for Jesus and never be let down.

  39. 28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Let our spirit be in tune with His Spirit!! Let God rule your life! For He is the truth and the way. If God is not our ruler, we are broken, lost and in darkness. So let your city shine brightly.

  40. 15Patience can persuade a prince,
and soft speech can break bones.

Learn to be patient, don’t speak before speaking. You may regret what you say, be careful of the words you speak.

  41. “When arguing with your neighbor, don’t betray another person’s secret. Others may accuse you of gossip, and you will never regain your good reputation.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25:9-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Gossip is so hurtful. Some feel that if it’s the truth it isn’t gossip. Unfortunately gossip is truth or false reports. If our words are not building others up it shouldn’t come out of our mouths. Especially when someone confides in you. Don’t expose their secrets to others. Im thankful for this chapter. There’s so much I need to apply to my life. Lord, search me!

“Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak].”
    ‭‭EPHESIANS‬ ‭4:29‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  42. 25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

    The Message

Like a cool drink of water when you’re worn out and weary
    is a letter from a long-lost friend.

A good person who gives in to a bad person
is a muddied spring, a polluted well.

It’s not smart to stuff yourself with sweets,
nor is glory piled on glory good for you.

    A person without self-control
is like a house with its doors and windows knocked out.

  43. 21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.

    This is difficult.
I was once in a position where my superior took full advantage of being my boss he would tell me to get his food and drinks and stuff. So I call a brother in the church and tell him the junk I’m dealing with and this is what he sends me. These scriptures right here so what did I do…I submitted to the word and the Lord took care of the rest hahaha needless to say I didn’t have to be in that position much longer

  44. I am not trying to be funny, but this is a great book of literal “Proverbs”. In particular the proverbs about honey stand out to me.

16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.

16-Have you found honey? Only eat what you need or what makes you full! Don’t over eat or be a glutton or you will get sick and vomit. I feel as though it has a double meaning, not only talking about food, but also in all the sweet things life has to offer. Don’t partake in too much as it may end in too much of a good thing.

27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

  45. “Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Keep your problems to yourself. It helps your testimony and theirs. As we are constantly teaching for those around us when we tell them all our issues, they don’t want to come be a part of the issues. Drama is not of Jesus. Keep your mouth closed and people won’t know of your foolishness as much. Keeping matters concealed let’s you get your heart straight and repent before things can muddy your testimony.
