Ecclesiastes 2

I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.

I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it?

I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.

I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:

I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:

I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:

I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:

I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.

So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.

10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.

11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

12 And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that which hath been already done.

13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.

14 The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.

15 Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.

16 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool.

17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

18 Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.

19 And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.

20 Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.

21 For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.

22 For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun?

23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.

24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

25 For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I?

26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

  1. 26God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.

If we know the Word, understand the Word, and obey the Word we become wiser in all we do. God will provide all our needs, and bless us. The foolish who get wealthy overnight, most are broke within a few years. The foolish don’t have the wisdom, nor want to know the Word.

  2. Thank you Jesus Christ for today , let us pray and hear his voice for direction and wisdom hallelujah .

And who can tell whether my successors will be wise or foolish? Yet they will control everything I have gained by my skill and hard work under the sun. How meaningless! So I gave up in despair, questioning the value of all my hard work in this world. Some people work wisely with knowledge and skill, then must leave the fruit of their efforts to someone who hasn’t worked for it. This, too, is meaningless, a great tragedy. God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.

  3. So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God. For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him? God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.
    Ecclesiastes 2:24‭-‬26 NLT

Finding quality work that we can give ourselves to is so important. Everything else is temporary, riches can dissipate like vapor, but finding pleasure in the work you do is truly a gift of God. I feel like people are being led astray by so many things because they lack a sense of purpose. Lord, that m You for the GIFT of MEANINGFUL WORK. You know exactly what we need . Hallelujah!

  4. First on in the Ecclesiastes chapter I just read its al about me and I, it also says when you build or acquire for yourself it does not belong to you it belongs to God. He gave you the mind to build and create in his image not for me, myself and I. But remember the Lord giveth and taketh, just sayin. I love POFW!

  5. God gives every person some wisdom knowledge to build our lives to build his kingdom but we can build on it to be more wise read more always be learning and expanding our minds not for our fleshy desires but to work for Gods kingdom

  6. 24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour.

I think the difference is the intent of the heart; so do everything you do unto the Lord and for His Glory alone otherwise is vanity!
    Colossians 3: 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

  7. 14 The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.

The wise man has the ability to see through the charades of the world. If they are living in the righteousness of God, they will be able to have the spirit of God lead them. For the Bible states that the steps of a righteous man are ordered of the Lord. I find that if we walk away from the will of God, then we will be walking in the darkness of the world. We have to remain in the light and allow the light to be an example to others.

Solomon is stating here that it only takes one time to cause a ripple in the pond. If we let sin in we will be covered by the darkness of the enemy. We have to be the light that is set upon a hill and shining bright for the world to see. That is what living Jesus to give Jesus means.

  8. 20 Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.
21 For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.

I truly do not think there’s anything wrong with working hard to establish something or being happy or proud with the work that you accomplished but there should always be at least an underlining acknowledgment that eventually it is either going to go away or someone else will take over. No matter how we look at it is mainly short-lived fulfillment whenever we put all of our hope and faith into a temporary thing. The Book of James tells us that we are but vapors, here today and gone tomorrow but we can leave behind things and accomplishments that are better bc of what we did than how we got them in the first place. Generally something is only vanity and vexation of spirit whenever we put the wrong emphasis on it.

  9. don’t look back.

2:20 AMP So I turned aside and let my heart despair
Over all the fruit of my labor for which I had labored
    Under the sun.
    —-
So every time he would take his time to give it a thought to the things he has accomplished
That’s when he would start feeling depress
    Uncomfortable and unhappy….
    Once again..
    Once again..
    Once again..
Jesus is the one who fills and completes all things in all.
Maybe just maybe, Could it be that we ( I ) need to be
Fill with more of Jesus and less of this world
    And the worries of it??????
    Hallelujah
    🙏.

  10. 16 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool.

There is a day coming in which the wise and the fool shall die. All the widom that one has developed is meaningless in the backdrop of eternity, if that wisdom did not make provisions for eternal life.

  11. “Then I considered all which my hands had done and labored to do, and behold, all was vanity and chasing after the wind and there was no profit (nothing of lasting value) under the sun.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Earthly pleasures are short-lived. They are temporary pleasures that are not central to human fulfillment. Our joy and fulfillment comes from the Lord! Trying to find it from things of this world is like grasping for the wind.

  12. got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:

8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.

9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.

10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.

  13. So in Ecclesiastes chapter 2 verses 7-10 it’s talking about how servants and servants having Possessions of cattle and cattle that were in Jerusalem and then the servants gathered silver and gold and they had treasure and the servants had women and men singers and the singers had musical instruments so in Jerusalem the wisdom was increased more in Jerusalem and then my heart rejoiced with labor

  14. Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.

As wise as Solomon was and tired all things. And did not withhold from him the things if this world. What he pleased he got…yet in all this words it called it all to be vanity and vexation of spirit. It rather seems like a toil in life. His reward was to work and eat and enjoy the fruits of his labor. Yet in all things nothing seems to have satisfied. And there is one good reason why. No matter what stage or status in life you are in, only the Lord will give the soul that which it longs for. Only the Lord satisfies. He is the one that completes us. He is the one that can bring true joy and what your soul needs. You can have all the world at your feet and still be so poor that the only thing you own is money. And you can have Jesus and be the richest man in the world having no earthly possessions. He did promise to take care of his children. And in him and by him and for him were all things made. And when you have him you have all.

  15. 24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

This being the case, a logical philosophy of life for a man whose whole existence is under the sun is to find enjoyment in eating, drinking, and in his labor. The preacher is not advocating gluttony and drunkenness but rather finding pleasure wherever possible in the common things of life.
Even this is from the hand of God that man should enjoy the normal mercies of life, the taste of good food, and the satisfaction that comes from honest work. May not have the power of enjoyment unless it is given to him by God.
The later preacher, the apostle Paul confirmed Solomon’s outlook. He said that if there is no resurrection of the death then the best policy is, “ let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die!”
Solomon adds that the ability to eat and find enjoyment in other ways comes from God, without him, we cannot enjoy the most ordinary pleasures. We depend on him for food appetite, digestion, sight, hearing, smell, memory, health sanity, and all that makes for a normal, pleasurable experience.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  16. “And I discovered that wisdom is better than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness. Wisdom is like having two good eyes; foolishness leaves you in the dark. But wise or foolish, we all end up the same. Finally, I said to myself, “Being wise got me nowhere! The same thing will happen to me that happens to fools. Nothing makes sense. Wise or foolish, we all die and are soon forgotten.””
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:13-16‬ ‭CEV

Laboring for riches and the eye is never satisfied, yes, it’s foolishness to all. But wisdom will keep us from a lot of grief. As we age we can see what is most important in life. It’s not the riches of the world. It will always be GOD first, obedience to His word, my husband, my children and ministry.

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:13‬ ‭KJV

    WHAT ARE WE WORKING FOR?

11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

We are Blessed with the opportyintu to work and purchase or collect nice things, shelter, transportation, apparel, luxuries, privileges, comforts, etc. Most of these are “optional” desires of life. JESUS has already promised us the necessities.

It is ok to work hard, but the profit is what really matters. The richest, most wise man in the world, assessed his early gains by this summary. “ALL WAS VANITY”.

JESUS led me to make the choice many years ago based on a revelation of this verse. I have been a hard worker all of my life. But when I realized that what I was originally working for was in vain and did not impress GOD. I turned my focus, attention and energy to WORK for The Kingdom of GOD and placed being in service for JESUS over being in service for me.

GOD has BLESSED my life as a result of this choice. I chose rather to be in church than work to make money and JESUS has honored and Blessed that choice and now I never have to miss a service.

  18. I thought, “Wisdom is better than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness. For the wise can see where they are going, but fools walk in the dark.” Yet I saw that the wise and the foolish share the same fate.
    Ecclesiastes 2:13‭-‬14 NLT

So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God.
    Ecclesiastes 2:24 NLT

We can easily choose to follow wisdom or foolishness. We can choose to be satisfied by the blessings of God or not. We can choose to focus on material things or on spiritual things. What we do and what we choose, and just as importantly, the perspective we take on it, all matters. Get in the Word and let God show you wisdom. Let Him guide you and show you His goodness.

  19. Ecclesiastes 2
This also, I saw, is from the hand of God, 25 for apart from him
who can eat or who can have enjoyment?

    The Hand of God
I laugh so many times when I’ve needed just something very simple or even insignificant. Then I see the Hand of God. I laugh when I’ve called for help from someone and no one seemed to be able to help then I see the Hand of God.
The times of greatest needs again there was the Hand of God. Bro Morgan said it so plainly the other night mind, body and soul. So many times we depend on our own abilities and lack in so many areas of our life. God is a God of completion not just a part but He is all that we need . Had Solomon realized all this in all his wisdom , would he not have guarded all of the ways of his life yet he allowed folly to catch his life then to find all was vanity in self .

God is so left out many times in just the day to day living and in reality it was not our abilities but it was God in us . What ever you are personally working towards whether it’s bring a well known preacher singer the greatest offerings giver or the most sought after leader. Don’t forget it is all about God and His Kingdom.
Solomon searched for pleasure in so many things from entertainment to wealth , wisdom and knowledge to finally realize it can only come from the Hand of God .

    Ecclesiastes
9 So I became great and surpassed all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart found pleasure in all my toil, and this was my )reward for all my toil. 11 Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

All that truly matters is what ever we do let it be for the glory of God ………

  20. 26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

For those who follow God he will bless. He will send understanding which I have knowledge but then he will go even deeper and teach us how to apply knowledge to our lives which is wisdom. Through wisdom will come joy because you will understand that God will never leave nor forsake you and will always be there and protect you and make you stronger.

  21. Ecclesiastes 2: 26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Mark9: 36-37 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and loss his own soul?
[37] Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul.
Its exciting and joyful when you see people being baptized in Jesus name.
I must save myself and give all that I can to Jesus
    It all belongs to him.

  22. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
When it all comes down to it, all is vanity. All our work and labor for nice things, all possessions, everything is vanity…except the souls we win. I pray folks would see the truth of this chapter and come on to outreach…the only thing in this world that is not vanity.

  23. 17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
18 Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.

Solomon never mentions he built his kingdom for the
Lord, but rather for himself and whoever will be his heir. He never mentions his hope in the Lord for his eternal life. If all we do here in this life is labor for self, we will be disappointed in the end because we did not prepare our souls for eternity nor did we teach our heirs about the Lord and his rewards.

  24. Ecclesiastes 2:24-26

[24]So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God.
[25]For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?
[26]God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.

Jesus is the source—of meaning in life. He provides the only satisfactory explanation for why we’re here and where we’re going. Because of this good news, the final heartbeat for the Christian is not the mysterious conclusion to a meaningless existence. It is, rather, the grand beginning to a life that will never end. That same Lord is waiting to embrace and forgive anyone who comes to Him in humility and repentance. His promise of eternal life offers the only hope for humanity.

  25. 11. As I continued musing over all I had accomplished and the hard work it took, I concluded that all this, too, was fleeting, like trying to embrace the wind. Is there any real gain by all our hard work under the sun? Voice

Only one life ’twill soon be past.
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

  26. Ecclesiastes 2:1 & 3-10
    1) I SAID in Mine heart,..
    3) I sought in Mine heart…
    4) I made Me… I builded Me… I planted Me…
    5) I made Me… I planted Me…
    6) I made Me…
    7) I got Me…
    8) I gathered Me… I gat Me…
    9) So I was Great, and Increased More than all that were before Me in Jerusalem:…
    10) And whatsoever Mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not My heart from any joy; for My heart rejoiced in all My labour: and this was My portion of all My labour.

    When I looked at these scriptures, all I saw was all the I’s, the Me’s, the My’s, and the Mine in them. (16 – I’s, 10 – Me’s, 5 – My’s, and 3 – Mine.)
Solomon said, ” I made me, I planted me, I got me, I gathered me, I gat me, whatsoever Mine eyes desired I kept not from them, and I withheld not My heart from any joy.”
Solomon said in verse 9, “I was great, and increased more…”
The problem is Solomon did it all for his kingdom and his glory.

Everything we do, we should be doing for the Kingdom of God and His Glory.
So the question is, “What are we building; what are we planting; and what are we gathering to make God’s Kingdom and Glory Great and Increase More?”

  27. Ecclesiastes Chapter 2

24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

I am glad that Solomon penned that statement above. God is love more than a God of anger. He is just and pure, righteous, and Holy, That witch we do in the flesh and not in the spirit is vanity.

  28. Verse 13 CEV “And I discovered that wisdom is better than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness.”

Ephesians 5:11-17 MSG “Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness. Expose these things for the sham they are. It’s a scandal when people waste their lives on things they must do in the darkness where no one will see. Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ.

    Wake up from your sleep,
    Climb out of your coffins;
Christ will show you the light!

So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants.”

Same verses AMP “Do not participate in the worthless and unproductive deeds of darkness, but instead expose them [by exemplifying personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character]; for it is disgraceful even to mention the things that such people practice in secret. But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light [of God’s precepts], for [a]it is light that makes everything visible. For this reason He says,

    “Awake, sleeper,
    And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine [as dawn] upon you and give you light.”

Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people], [b]making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil. Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is.”

  29. “I said to myself, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure and gratification; so enjoy yourself and have a good time.” But behold, this too was vanity (futility, meaninglessness).”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We can’t expect living carnally to bring us the same joy that living righteously brings. Yes, we can indulge in our wants and desires and be happy but to be joyous that’s when we step into the joy of the Lord. It’s His Will for our joy to be full and to be full of His joy. Remember, the joy of the Lord is our strength!

  30. 9 So I became great and excelled more than all who preceded me in Jerusalem. My wisdom also remained with me. 10 Whatever my eyes looked at with desire I did not refuse them. I did not withhold from my heart any pleasure, for my heart was pleased because of all my labor; and this was my reward for all my labor. 11 Then I considered all which my hands had done and labored to do, and behold, all was vanity and chasing after the wind and there was no profit (nothing of lasting value) under the sun.

When we get caught up in our “self” we lay aside the wisdom of God and follow our own plan which brings us right back to vanity and vexation of soul. We can find balance is job, rest, relaxation when we quit fighting Gods way and die out your our own will. Solomon began the slippery slope of deception when he focused on his own lusts and soon found himself entangled in a lifestyle not pleasing to God…adding to flesh not spirit.

  31. I forgotten that everything I have now is cause god is allowing me to receive his blessings, I got caught up in my own desires that I stoped focusing in his word. I’m glad my father is allowing me to reach true joy with him once more.

24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

  32. “I said to myself, “Come on, let’s try pleasure. Let’s look for the ‘good things’ in life.” But I found that this, too, was meaningless.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This world has many pleasures it can offer. But it is all temporal, nothing will last. In the end, it will all be meaningless.

Jesus is the only One that gives everlasting life. He will not fade away with time. He will never lose His power.

Choose you today in what or whom you will dedicate your life to.

  33. “For to the person who pleases Him God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who pleases God. This too is vanity and chasing after the wind.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭AMP

When you are pleasing god you will reap the benefits. It’s best to live a glorious life with Jesus than to try and fit in to the world. He wants us all to live a righteous life but he isn’t going to force us to do it. It’s our choice to either live righteously or be of the world. So what will you choose? Live for Christ no matter what or will you allow what’s going on in the world to steer you away from him.

  34. 25 For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him? 26 God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless— like chasing the wind.
    Ecclesiastes 2:25-26 NLT

Will you choose to live for your true God… or will you choose the life that is lost and filled with the enemy? God gave us a choice to live for him or not, many chose not to and many chose to. See the life without the Lord they are lost in fear, they are hurting and are fighting battles all by themselves. And the Life with the Lord is filled with blessings, wisdom, light, joy and strength. With God anything is possible and there is always victory. As the children of the Lord, let us use the light the Lord is shining on us and reflect it to those lost and hurting, show them that there is forgiveness and saving with the Lord. Let us all live righteous with the Lord and show him your faithfulness.

  35. “There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.” Ecclesiastes 2:24

Our Lord loves us and wants us to enjoy life, but with goodness and righteousness. We need to make Jesus number one in our lives. We can’t be carnal and have Jesus as Lord. We can only have one master to serve, Jesus and not the world!
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  36. 3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.

In this chapter I think it was trying to tell us that, when we are felling down and broken He is the only and true way! God will provide all of our needs at the right time. We should NEVER rush God! He knows what right and he always has a reason!!! So I hope today that you put your whole heart and understanding in Him!!!

  37. 22 For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun?

What we do here on this earth is meaningless. Only what we do for the Kingdom will last through eternity. We can it live life trying to gather up great things here on earth and forget that we are eternL beings.

Let us lay up our treasure in heaven!

  38. 13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.

Using wisdom can get you out of many situations. Fools make dumb choices that cause them to dig deeper in their trouble. We must use wisdom to make better choices. The enemy would love for us to believe that our choices now don’t affect our future. However, they do, do we must be wise in our decisions.

  39. “For the wise and the foolish both die. The wise will not be remembered any longer than the fool. In the days to come, both will be forgotten.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We will all die one day and be forgotten. The world is not my home heaven is. We must reach the lost so they may call heaven their homes. Let bring someone to heaven with us.

  40. Ecclesiastes 2

“For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This Scripture means that, God gives us Joy in our dark times.

  41. 18 “And I hated everything I’d accomplished and accumulated on this earth. I can’t take it with me…” MSG

Completion of any task big or small comes with a sense of accomplishment, however nothing compares to the accomplishment of the doing something in the Kingdom of God!

To see an event give hope to someone in need, or the song gave a sense of peace to the one in turmoil. Again all with Jesus, not with just our skills or talents alone.

As we LIVE and GIVE Jesus, let’s ensure we accomplish what we can for the will of God!

  42. “for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?”
    Ecclesiastes 2:25 NIV

Without God, there is darkness and evilness and fear and there is no enjoyment to your spirit but only to your flesh. God is a soul satisfier and in Him, there is peace, joy, love, and everlasting life. God is the fountain that will never run dry come taste and see that the Lord is good and is better than life.

  43. 14 The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.

If we wouldn’t walk in a dark room with no lights, why would we walk our spirit in darkness? The scripture says that only a fool walks in darkness. God has given us a light to walk in.

    Psalm 119:105 KJV
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

  44. The preacher here is teaching a lesson that we all deal with. There are only 24 hours in the day and however you invest them doesn’t change the fact that they are gone. But he’s pointing out here that if you invest in the world, it is all going to perish, it is all
Vanity. We must invest in something that will last. When we invest in the Kingdom of God it never goes away.

    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:”
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

A true test of where your heart is, is where you spend your time.

  45. “Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:18-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We can’t take it with us when we leave. Everything that we get is eventually going to belong to someone else. This begs the question, by not work for what you really want? Why not work for more friends to go to heaven? Why not spend more time pouring Jesus into someone? The only way to take something with you when you die is to store up soles in the kingdom of God. ‬‬

  46. 9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.
11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

In this passage the writer speaks of how he got whatever he and his heart desires. If he thought it, he got it. “. . . whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; . . .” And then once he looked over all of his profits and doings there was not much to account for except for vanity and pride. “. . . all was vanity and vexation of spirit. . .” No good came of it! This is what happens in us alike, when we are worried more about the world and what it has to offer, then worrying about our God and what His Will is.

The writer then admits that he counts himself a fool for his poor life choices, “. . . As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; . . .” A realization we all must come to when in the world. “. . . I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.” Again, admitting defeat.

26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

We must strive to do His works and be in His Will, rather than our own takings. Ask for His wisdom and knowledge and also the wisdom and knowledge of when to use it!

  47. “But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/ecc.2.11.nlt

Coming from a man that had everything he thought he wanted it seems he’s come to the senses of the route of a righteous man. From the sounds of it he knows it was all meaningless and was gonna get him know where with God. I was telling the young people today how we’re always leading even when we don’t think we are that’s why it’s so important to follow Christ so the ones we’re leaving can build relationship with Jesus as they follow you following Christ. It’s easy to get wrapped up in this world but really it’s all about what you make your world to be. If you wanna be a rich man then you can be but if you wanna be a righteous man you can do that too. We were given the power and f choice!

  48. “But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Where’s only one thing that can satisfy our soul. It is only Jesus that make life worthwhile. He gives us purpose to life. He feels the void that are soul longs for.
