1 Kings 13

And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lordunto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.

And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.

And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lordhath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.

The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.

And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

For so was it charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.

10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel.

11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.

12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.

13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,

14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.

15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.

16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:

17 For it was said to me by the word of the Lord, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.

18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.

20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the Lord came unto the prophet that brought him back:

21 And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee,

22 But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.

23 And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back.

24 And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.

25 And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.

26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake unto him.

27 And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.

28 And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass.

29 And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.

30 And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother!

31 And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:

32 For the saying which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.

33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

  1. Thank you Jesus Christ for everything , let’s first open his gates with Thanksgiving . Sometimes we can make mistakes , it’s important to continue and do better in life Elohim Adonai, yeshua

He said to him, “I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord , saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’ ” (He was lying to him.) For the saying which he cried out by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel, and against all the shrines on the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely come to pass.” After this event Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, but again he made priests from every class of people for the high places; whoever wished, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places. And this thing was the sin of the house of Jeroboam, so as to exterminate and destroy it from the face of the earth.

  2. 4. And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Beth-el, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.

    33. After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

    34. And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

Never put forth your hand (or your words) against the man of God – Jeroboam never found his way back; don’t take the chance.

  3. “For I was commanded by the word of the LORD, ‘You shall not eat bread or drink water, nor shall you return by the way you came.’ ”

He answered him, “I too am a prophet, as you are; and an angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD, saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, so that he may eat bread and drink water.’ ” But he lied to him. So the man of God went back with him, and ate bread in his house and drank water.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭13:9, 18-19‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The man of God had very specific instructions from God and he did not follow them because he was unable to recognize the deception of the old prophet. So he paid dearly with his life.

  4. He cried out to the man of God from Judah, “This is what the Lord says: You have defied the word of the Lord and have disobeyed the command the Lord your God gave you.
    1 Kings 13:21 NLT

When God gives you a word, stick to it. Do not ride on the words of what others say without praying first and seeking counsel from your man of God. Always check a word when it is given to insure God is the one guiding you. He will never go against a word He has spoken.

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
    Proverbs 11:14 KJV

  5. 2 And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.
3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lordhath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

No matter what evil is rampant in the world or how bad things may seem to get God will continue to hear our cry. You will call on us to interceed at the most frailist and hardest of times and he will heed our call because he has called us to pray at this hour. there is nothing new under the sun and God has seen everything that’s going on.

  6. I Kings 13
16-17 “Sorry, I can’t do that,” the holy man said. “I can neither go back with you nor eat with you in this country. I’m under strict orders from God: ‘Don’t eat a crumb; don’t drink a drop; and don’t come back the way you came.’”

18-19 But he said, “I am also a prophet, just like you. And an angel came to me with a message from God: ‘Bring him home with you, and give him a good meal!’” But the man was lying. So the holy man went home with him and they had a meal together.

    20-22 There they were, sitting at the table together, when the word of God came to the prophet who had brought him back. He confronted the holy man who had come from Judah: “God’s word to you: You disobeyed God’s command; you didn’t keep the strict orders your God gave you;

    God’s Command not Man’s
When God has given you a word without a doubt nothing should cause you to go against it. The holy man repeated what God had stated to him yet done how he allowed someone he claimed to be a prophet (we do not know if he was truly or not ) but if he was would help have deceived this man .
When God says something we cannot allow anyone to convince us otherwise. It would have been better for this man to still refused to have eaten as God had instructed. The prophet said an Angel came to me with a word from God that should have been enough to cause caution for it was God whom had spoken to this holy man. We are living in times where we must hold dearly to what we know is from God . Take hold and don’t allow anyone to deceive you from it.

    Galatians
    1:8
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

    Matthew 7:15
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

  7. 17 For it was said to me by the word of the Lord, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.

18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

There is coming a day to where everyone that lives for God will be challenged by the deceitful so called prophets of the false doctrine. We must take ourselves to a place in God and the word of God that will prepare us to be able to stand against the false doctrine and be able to hear the true voice of God. It will be a test of our faith and our obedience just like the man of God in the scripture fell to deceit even though he heard from the Lord. We must prepare for all the chaos and the turmoil that will take this world by storm and we must remain vigilant to the kingdom of God. It is time to go deeper with God.

  8. And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.

5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.

6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

  9. 18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water.

Be careful who you listen to and always pray before you make decisions and always keep God’s commandments.

  10. 33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

Even after he was chastised with his hand withered, Jeroboam didn’t learn his lesson and continue in the sin of idolatry. It didn’t matter that it cost a man of God his life. God’s Grace and Mercy is great and everlasting but does that means that we have a ticket to sin as much as we want??? Lord forbid!!!!! The people today think that God should adjust to their way of life and not them to God’s word. If you don’t believe me see some of the churches that cater to homosexuals and believe that God is only love. All the born again that believe that they can sin as much as they want as long as they repent and apply God’s grace. Yes God’s grace and mercy is everlasting but is not a free for all kind of thing. Yes, we must repent for our sins but continue trying not to sin anymore. John 9:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Jesus loves us so much that He forgives us but remember to go and sin no more!!!! That phrase is the key!!! Thank you Jesus for your love and mercy!!!

  11. I kings 13:26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who is disobedient unto the word of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake unto him.

Pays to be obedient, listen to the man of God, obey the word of the Lord.

  12. 26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake unto him.

Even thought the man of God had a word from God, he was persuaded to be disobedient to what God had instructed him because the prophet told him an angel of the Lord told him to instruct to do this and this.

This is why we must try the spirit and see if it be of the Lord before we follow anything that goes against what God has said to us.

Just because People say “the Lord said” doesn’t mean it’s a word for you and me. God may have told them something for them that would have adverse effect for us.
Our relationship with God should allow us to know when we must stand on what God has give us, verses what someone else says, God said for us. We should always run things the man of God in our life to confirm in the Spirit what we feel or have been told to do, to keep us on the right path.

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

  13. 1 Kings 13:21
He cried out to the man of God from Judah, “This is what the lord says: You have defied the word of the lord and have disobeyed the command the lord your God gave you.

Guard your heart and obey the Lord’s commands. Be careful and don’t let people deceive you away from the Lord’s commands.

  14. 1 kings 13
There are 2 valuable lessons to be learned in this chapter…
    1) When the man of God speaks something you don’t like, be careful how you respond to him. Because, if you respond to him in the wrong way, God will deal with you.
    and
    2) When you receive a word from God, and someone comes along and contridicts that word by telling you a lie, be sure to stand on the word you received from God. Or else you will be in disobedience to God and His Word, and He will deal with you.

Pray for the Man of God and Be Obedient To God’s Word.

  15. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    FAILING THE TEST

26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake unto him.

Notice that no ONE is exempt from the pain of being “DISOBEDIENT TO THE WORD OF GOD”. The man of GOD was caught FAILING THE TEST. The Lord delivered him unto the lion.

    How did this happen?

The man of God had a word from the Lord. Do not go eat or drink with anyone there.

But. There is the TEST of the prophet.

This passage is the reason that we need to judge every prophesy by the WORD of GOD. Key points:

    1. There are good will men that do not know what GOD has spoken to you.
    2. There are false prophets that will attempt to distract and derail us from the will of GOD.
    3. GOD expects us to Obey HIS WORD, Command or Instructions.
    4. Trust the WORD you have from the LORD, even if another prophet, shares something more convenient or comforting.
    5. The most important Key Point is this: The TEST: “I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house”… An ANGEL spoke to me.

There are fallen angels but JESUS Word has never failed.

The apostle Paul warned us against this very deception:
Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

The WORD of GOD should be to the Man of GOD an absolute, unwavering, undeterred unstoppable, unchangeable WORD.

  16. ( Finally 🙌🙌!)
13:16 and he said I may not return with thee
Not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place.

Ok, we know this was not his idea , or plan.
This was God’s word. Gods command.
    He heard it
    He believed it
    He accepted it
And what? He almost obeyed it.

When the Lord had giving a command . We’d better obey no matter what.
We must be confident and know to discern what’s happening around us. While the word comes to past and accomplished.
We can’t be moved or deceived.
    🙏

  17. 20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the Lord came unto the prophet that brought him back:

It is was we stand still and let the Lord be the Lord, which allows us time to reflect. When take time to hear from the Lord, we will remember his words.

  18. 1 Kings 13

    1. God gave a message to an unknown Prophet. God dose not lie.

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

    2. The prophet gave the info to the king Jeroboam and his command was to seize the prophet. Do not touch the Lords anointed.

Psalms 105:15 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

3 .God Showed mercy by healing the king.

    1 Kings 13
6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

    4. God gave the prophet further instructions.

1 Kings 13: 7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

    5. The prophet was talked out of those instructions.

1 Kings 13:18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

    6. What is the result.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Another example is Moses and the striking the rock. Moses hit the stone twice. What was his punishment. Numbers 20:11-12 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

Deuteronomy 34:6 And God buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

What does Jesus say concerning the topic?
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

    7. in conclusion Proverbs says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

  19. God had given by the word of the Lord.

6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

Some folks say people don’t get their miracles because if they did, they would continue to do evil…this is one example (plus I have seen many first hand examples) of people receiving a miracle and yet still remaining in sin.

  20. “He cried out to the man of God from Judah, “This is what the Lord says: You have defied the word of the Lord and have disobeyed the command the Lord your God gave you.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭13:21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When we are given instructions we must follow them. No matter what we may be feeling we need to obey the word of the lord. When we don’t obey him he will send someone to right out wrongs and when this is done we should not get in our feelings because we knew that god had already given us instructions. We should just listen then first time so we don’t have to reap the bad benefits of not listening.

  21. 33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

When your focus is off God, you end up doing the things of the enemy. We go places we should not go and do things we should not do. God will give us direction if we allow him to. We can’t do our own thing and also do what God wants us to do. Either we will love him and hate evil or we will fall to the enemie.

  22. 26When the prophet heard the report, he said, “It is the man of God who disobeyed the LORD’s command. The LORD has fulfilled his word by causing the lion to attack and kill him.”

Don’t let anyone change your mind. Once the man of God tells you something, it’s final. The enemy will come along and deceive you. Obey the man of God, and all will be good.

  23. 33 After this thing, Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
    1 Kings 13:22 KJV

Nowadays it is very easy for the enemy to catch your attention towards him and away from the Lords. Many have fallen for the temptations of the enemy and are now lost in fear, doubt, and with no joy or peace. The Lord gives us and fills us with his strength every single day for us to overcome the enemy, there is nothing in this world stronger or mightier than our God. As his children let us make sure we are growing more in him daily, reading his word, keeping our minds focused on him and not on things of this world. Remember that with the Lord you can and will overcome anything and everything!

  24. 21 And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee,

It can be so easy for us to forget about doing god’s will in our lives every day especially when we find ourselves busy with life’s troubles, but that’s when it take extreme focus on the goal ahead(which is our heavenly reward) and it should always remember our focus no matter what.

  25. The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord . And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Entreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord , and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
    1 Kings 13:5‭-‬6 KJV

There are a few things that capture my attention from this chapter. For example, why did God allow this deception, the lie from another prophet to the one that delivered the word to the king? Could it have been because he put his trust in that man and not what God had commanded him? He trusted that the man said I am a prophet like you are. And why would that prophet lie to the first one. Him being a prophet knows there will be consequences for not obeying the word of God.

Another thing to point out is the faith of king Jeroboam. He asked with expectation and seems like he firmly believed that what he asked was going to be granted. In other words there was no doubt in is heart that if he asked the man of God to pray for him, God would restore his hand. It was the Lord himself that made it that way. Yet he just believed that all he needed to do is ask and it was done. This is a great example that faith moves anywhere. And there are no prerequisites but only believe.

  26. 5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.

The alter is a place if worship and praise. When we build our alter, we have to remember what we are really doing it for. The alter can also be a place of sacrifice. We have to ask God for guidance and instructions on how to construct our alter. I pray tonight that your alter is strong and can withstand any enemy that may come against you!!!

3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lordhath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

If you are walking in a righteous path with God and are doing what you need to be doing daily then you should have a bond with God that no one can break

  28. “But the old prophet answered, “I am a prophet, too, just as you are. And an angel gave me this command from the Lord: ‘Bring him home with you so he can have something to eat and drink.’” But the old man was lying to him.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭13:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Some people have the time of day! With the reasoning behind their actions boiling down to being mainly pride, we have to make sure we follow the Lord’s guidance fully. Just because a man or woman if God has told you something doesn’t mean you follow the advice blindly. Seek the Lord’s guidance, read the Word, pray and fast about it – do the work! We can’t go off of someone else’s knowledge but need to know for ourselves!

  29. Verse 18 MSG “The old prophet answered, “I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of the Lord: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’” (But he was lying to him.)”. We must be very careful who we listen to and the lies that could deceive us.

Hebrews 10:22-25 MSG say “So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.”

  30. 6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

GOD used this man, would answer his prayer and still was deceived so easily!!! If anybody ever thought we would be exempt, here GOD is showing us how easy it is to make a mistake…..

No repentance will land you into a place where you end upon the wrong side of the tracks away from God. Sin will guide you away from God and into a place of destruction.

  32. “He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭13:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As children of God we have to stand firm in what God tells us. We have to know when someone is speaking flatterings and when things are true. The only way for us to absolutely know is to constantly be in contact with Jesus. Sometimes people lie. We have to be able to rightly discern what is God and what is not. A sharp ear can often save us from a sharp blade if we listen.

  33. Deception is one of the easiest sins to commit and one of the hardest to overcome. Yes, one can be forgiven but once you step over to the “dark side” you most likely will do it again. Bro. Fielding always taught us that there is a line between living right and living wrong. Yes you can go all the way to the line and be ok but your closer to stepping over. Stay away from the line. It’s kinda like being cold or hot, lukewarm gets you spewed from Gods mouth, NOT good!

  34. 1st Kings 13

“Then he said to the man of God, “Come home with me and eat some food.” “No, I cannot,” he replied. “I am not allowed to eat or drink anything here in this place. For the Lord gave me this command: ‘You must not eat or drink anything while you are there, and do not return to Judah by the same way you came.’””
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭13:15-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The simple act of disobedience cause this man of God his life. We’re often instructed by the voice of God in our life not to do certain things, not because were being controlled but because were being protected. Disobedience only bring fourths death and we know this from the time of Adam and Eve. Their act of disobedience cursed mankind forever. We cant let other voices over power the voice of God in our lives no matter who it is.

  35. “The man of God said, “I can’t go back to Bethel with you. I can’t eat bread or drink water with you there. I’ve received a message from the Lord. He told me, ‘Do not eat bread or drink water there. Do not return the same way you came.’ ” The old prophet answered, “I’m also a prophet, just like you. An angel gave me a message from the Lord. The message said, ‘Bring the man of God back with you to your house. Then he can eat bread and drink water with you.’ ” But the old prophet was telling him a lie. The man of God returned with him. He ate and drank in his house.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭13:16-19‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

The Word of God is a firm foundation that we can be sure of. God is not a man that he should lie. We should trust and believe every Word He has given us. Do not waiver in the word God has given you.

  36. 3

Just because you get into a high place in ministry or are anointed and called of God, does not mean that you cannot make mistakes or do wrong in His sight. Always heed His word and listen to the words spoken of the Almighty.
