1 Kings 17

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

20 And he cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.

22 And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

  1. 12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

Those who put God first and obey will learn that they never lack the necessities of life. The old widow bin of flour and a jar of oil never failed. Those who obey God‘s voice will always have his needs met, despite the conditions that prevail around them.

  2. Verse 24 MSG “The woman said to Elijah, “I see it all now—you are a holy man. When you speak, God speaks—a true word!” This scripture reminded me of our memory verse for this last quarter in February 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Same verse AMP “Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.” LIVE-GIVE JESUS²

  3. 15. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

    23. And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

    24. And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

I guess the meal and oil replenishing day after day wasn’t enough for her to believe yet? It took her son dying and being brought back to life!
Is our faith so low that we don’t give God credit for the daily things He does? Do we just mark them up as coincidences?
Let’s not force God’s hand to have to repair a catastrophe before we will recognize Him and give Him the glory He deserves!

    Psalm 34:
    1. I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

    3. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

  4. 13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

First the Kingdom. Sacrifices must be made for the Kingdom of God. Trust in the Lord and He will always provide and keep you for the sacrifices you make!

  5. 1 Kings 17: 12-14 And she said, At the Lord, thy God, liveth, I have not a cake, But an handful of meal in a barrel, and little oil in a cruse and , behold, I gathering two sticks, that I may go in and prepare] it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
[13] And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said, But make me of it a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and, afterwards, make for thee and for thy son.
[14] For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall the cruse of oil fail , until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.
Not fear , and go prepard what is needed to serve the Lord first.
During the drought, Elijah was fed by the ravens at the brook Cherith, When the brook dried up, he was guided to the widow of Zarephath, or Sarepta, Because of her unselfish devotion to God, great blessings came upon her, as her jar of meal and cruse of oil never went empty during the famine.
When serve God first, Great blessings come upon you and me.
I bless you in the name of Jesus.

Raising the dead wasn’t just a New Testament thing it happened in these times too. There’s no limits when it comes to God. But that day someone’s faith grew. It wasn’t until after the widow lady’s son came back to life when she said “wow, you truly are…” a prophet, and what you say is true. People are watching your every move once you tell them that you’re someone to go to for prayer

  7. 21 Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried out to the Lord, “Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to him!”

There are somethings that just cannot be explained.

    • After reading some of the comments this morning I’ve thought more about this famous passage of scripture, Some say the prophet was crude in asking a widow to give her last bit of food. Yet the prophet knew the blessings God said he would provide.
Someone commented that the provision seemed to be forgotten by the widow. I have to disagree with that . She truly was thankful for the blessings for without the provision all three would have died . Yet the widow makes a remark about some sin that had occurred somewhere in her life . Was there something she had never been able to allow God to heal , maybe the pain of losing her husband and maybe she blamed God for her situation. We are so quick to judge the widows actions and even the actions of the prophet. God had a plan though snd it took the trust of the prophet and obedience on his part at the beginning. Then he continues to ask if the widow things she felt she couldn’t even do but she did it. Her heart was already torn from her loss and yes God was providing . I believe that she was willing to die with her child but when he died without her the loss was just to great for her to conceive. Loss brings deeper pain than not having anything to eat and the trust in the prophet was there . Yet when life was restored to her son the depth of the message I get is that it no longer was about the prophet being fed or even herself but Life Restored . Whether physical or natural death when life is restored we can truly say now I believe !
Why did God raise Lazarus for the unbelief of the people.
This widow needed more than food provision she needed Life Restored .
Are we truly seeing the real needs of people. It’s easy to but a meal for someone but what about the real need of life being restored . Not naturally but the very depth of a persons soul . The prophet had to pick up the dead son and then lay his body over him and then truly call upon God . Time Time and Time Serving Jesus Christ Live Jesus Give Jesus maybe we need to take a second look at how we are representing this in our lives.
I am re-examining my own . Lest I fall short of what God has truly ask of me.

Desperation for a soul to be saved more than the hunger pains in your stomach ….Live Jesus Give Jesus 2

  8. 13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

Even during a drought God provided for those that put his business first. This isn’t about a widow woman and her son feeding a man of God ingest giving up there food it is about their sacrifice for the work and the will of God. Elijah was doing the work of God everywhere he went and by this lady’s willingness to sacrifice not only was she able to eat well during the drought but her son’s life was brought back. The moral of the story is that whenever you put God’s business first he puts yours first

  9. 17:11 and as she was going to fetch it
He called her, and said, bring me I pray thee
Moral of bread in thine hand.
    ——
All right, so it was all good, she got up right away
To get the glass of water, it wait, he is now asking
    For bread…..
Ok, what do we need to make bread?
She had the three ingredients( water, flour and oil)
But only enough for her and her son…
Do her faith was challenged the moment
The man of God asked her to provide that
    Which she was struggling with….
Then he said: do t be afraid..,
I bet she hesitated, and was given very small and slows steps…
God is challenging me to believe for more
    To go the extra mile
To turn a test into an opportunity
She did Obeyed and the whole situation
    Make her gain faith….
God is good, and he did all of this for her good.
What did she say: by this I know
That you art a man of God…
    Her faith got stronger…

  10. To a average person this is changeling task.

If your a carnel person and have no faith in the Lord you would have been offended if a man was to walk up to you and ask for the last food you have. When you know it’s for you and your son. Many would attack him for asking you such a thing in hard times as they were in.

But a person of faith would’ve understood like she did. It wasn’t easy because her flesh was hungry but her soul was even more hungry and full of faith.

And God blessed her for it.

My prayer is that I get full of faith like she was, so that even in my darkest days. God can use me like how he used her.

  11. God provides! He provides in the valley. He provides on the mountain. He provides all our needs according to His riches and glory!!!

  12. 18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

Parents sometimes we have to be willing to let go of our children and let God set them straight!!!! I know that at least I am guilty of not letting go and letting God do what He needs to do. It took me a long time to learn to let Go!!! I spent day and nights in prayer, trying to understand what God was doing but we need to learn to trust in our God and let them Go. It is true that our kids did not come with an instruction book, but if we raise them by the truth of God’s word, all we can do is let go and pray that they don’t depart from the right path. If they do depart all we can do is pray that they are reminded daily of God’s immeasurable GRACE and that they may come home whenever and we will be there with our arms open wide saying welcome back my child!!! I pray our prodigals will come home and may God restore life into them in Jesus Name Amen!!!! Our God is Faithful, trust, and LET GO!!! LET GOD!!!

  13. 13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

    The Message

Elijah said to her, “Don’t worry about a thing. Go ahead and do what you’ve said. But first, make a small biscuit for me and bring it back here. Then go ahead and make a meal from what’s left for you and your son. This is the word of the God of Israel: ‘The jar of flour will not run out and the bottle of oil will not become empty before God sends rain on the land and ends this drought.’ “

4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

Simple obedience to the WORD of GOD is the safest and surest path to provision.

GOD appointed for the raven to deliver food to a man at a spot, not just a man somewhere. Birds unlike man have no choice as to whether they will obey or not. Birds simply do what they are commanded by their creator. Man on the other hand has been granted the power of CHOICE. We choose to obey.

Thankfully for testimony and provision Elijah was obedient, otherwise the raven would have brought the food to the brook, but no one would have been there to eat. One obeyed, one disobeyed.

Oftten GOD coordinates these “Divine Appointments” for provision for man. We learn from the obedience of Elijah the value of it. Be encouraged today to make all of your GOD appointments for Prayer, Worship, Serving and Giving. GOD may be using you as he did the Raven. Or possibly GOD has appointed a Raven to supply and provide for you.

    HE did it for Abraham

Genesis 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

Because Abraham obeyed the voice of GOD the ram also obeyed and GOD provided.

21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.

Notice here that Elijah doesn’t pray for God’s will to be done. He not taking no for an answer. He continues to pray even when he doesn’t see results. He’s not preaching a beautiful sermon about heaven needing another angel in heaven with this child. The attitude of Elijah here is the same attitude of all great men of God who are used in miraculous gifts…they simply believe God is going to hear them and he is going to do it. Notice the next verse, 22 And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

The key to the miraculous is God hearing our voice.

  17. 1 Kings 17:10:16

When Genuine faith is tested it brings glory to God and works for the good of the believer.

I Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

  18. 14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

We can be assured that when we use our talent, time, or money for the work of the Lord, He will replenish our provisions.

  19. 12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

It matters when you obey the man of God. Little did the widow woman know that the miracle was standing in front of her in Elijah. He commanded that she feed him first but she knew that she only had one meal left to feed herself and her son. But through obedience she obeyed the prophet and she was fed for many days after.

This is a great example when we obey the man of God that has authority over us and we actually listen and put forth every effort to fulfill the purpose of God. There is nothing more rewarding in this world than to have the will of God in your life. When you sacrifice unto the kingdom of God, then your way will be directed and laid out for you. We have to rely on God and the man of God instead of ordinary men. We have to live Jesus to give Jesus!

  20. 16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

Why is it so hard for us to remember what God brought us out of and miracles that happened before when something goes wrong, instead of saying God you brought me out of the last trial and you will do it again because you are a faithful God and you never change. Let us remember what you have done for us God when the next trial comes our way.

  21. 12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

Great tithing principle here – she was going to use the little she had for her and her son and then die, but the man of God asked her a cake first and she honored the man of God and because she did, her needs were taken care of.

God’s Word is true, It cannot lie and it stands the test of time. If we will honor God with out first fruits, God will supply our needs.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

  22. 13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth

Elijah spoke a word of promise and prophecy to the woman and her obedience brought her the miracle. We have heard a lot about our promises from God lately and we will receive them! They are for a set time and will come as we continue to live for Him. I wrote 2 scriotures that are promises on the 2 rocks I broke off last night as a visual reminder that his word is true-he cannot lie-it will come to pass! His word never fails.

  23. 1 Kings 17:16
There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the lord had promised through Elijah.

    Joshua 21:45
Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.

    The Lord’s promises never fail.
    Thank you Jesus

  24. 1 Kings Chapter 17

24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

Let the above words be spoken of us also. We do not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Be blessed this day in Jesus name.

Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

  25. 2Then the LORD said to Elijah, 3“Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River. 4Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.”

Another miracle by God, using birds to feed someone. Why worry about where your next meal will come from. God provided for Elijah in the least expected way, but it happened. God can use anything, anyone, or animals to make his point to you. He used a donkey, burning bush, a whale and now ravens. God will provide when you are in need.

  26. 12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

It takes faith to get past what the natural eye sees and trust in the voice of the Lord alone.

But it was her faith that led her to obedience and her obedience that saved the life of her son.

When it comes to the things of Lord we cannot trust simply in what our natural eye sees but we must take a leap a faith and trust that He will be there to catch us.

  27. Then the Lord said to Elijah, “Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River. Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.” So Elijah did as the Lord told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan.
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17:2-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God led Elijah one step at a time. He did not tell him to go to Cherith until he first delivered the message to Ahab. He did not tell him to go to Zarephath until the brook dried up at Cherith. God led Elijah by faith, one step at a time, and Elijah followed in faith.

Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of Faith.
Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of Faith.
You don’t need a whole lot,
    Just use what ya got,
Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of faith.

  28. 1 Kings 17:2-6 & 8-11 & 14-16 (NLT)
    2) Then the LORD said to Elijah,
    3) Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River.
    4) Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.
    5) So Elijah did as the LORD told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan.
    6) The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook.

    8) Then the LORD said to Elijah,
    9) Go and live in the village of Zrephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you.
    10) So he went to Zarephath. As he arrived at the gates of the village, he saw a widow gathering sticks, and asked her, Would you please bring me a little water in a cup?
    11) As she was going to get it, he called to her, Bring me a bite of bread, too.

    14) For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says; There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the LORD sends rain and the crops to grow again!
    15) So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days.
    16) There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the LORD had promised through Elijah.

In writing all these scriptures, here’s what stood out to me.
The LORD SPOKE to Elijah… So Elijah DID as the LORD TOLD him, and the LORD provided for him.
Again, the LORD SPOKE to Elijah…. So Elijah WENT, and the LORD provided for him.
This time Elijah SPEAKS to the widow woman… She DID as Elijah SAID, and the LORD provides for her and her family.

So to me the whole point to this story is… If we will be OBEDIENT to the WORD of the LORD and DO what HE TELLS us to do, HE will Provide for us. And if we will be OBEDIENT to what the MAN of GOD TELLS us to Do, the LORD will Provide for us.

Be OBEDIENT and the LORD will PROVIDE!!

  29. 1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

When you have a relationship with the Lord you will always know when he is calling you and directing your Steps. God will always make away where there seems to be no way.

  30. “The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning. They also brought him bread and meat in the evening. He drank water from the brook.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17:6‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

There’s no mountain too high or valley too low where Jesus cant reach you. Elijah knew the Lord as a Jehovah Jireh! The Lord will provide. We can be assured that the Lord always has a plan.

  31. “Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.””
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Elijah’s faith and trust in God is inspiring and should instill hope in us all. Through this story we learn when we are devoted to God, He will provide in ways we never would have imagined and restore life. I pray we remember truly anything is possible because we serve an unstoppable God!

  32. 4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

God takes care of his people. When times seem hard, God provides. As a child of of God, there is no need for us to worry. As he has done in times past, he continues to do today. He is way maker. Always has been and always will be.

  33. 21 And he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the Lord, “O Lord my God, please let this child’s life return to him.” 22 The Lord heard Elijah’s prayer, and the life of the child returned, and he revived!
    1 Kings 17:21-22

It is so wonderful to see the miracles of the Lord especially to be a witness, and to see how strong the power of prayer is. Prayer is something we should do daily, not just when we want or need things, prayer helps us grow more in our relationship with the Lord it helps God know that there is a time when he can use you knowing you have power in your prayer. I pray we all pray to the Lord daily, that we give him all the thanks and praise for all he has done for us. I pray we seek him more and more daily and to grow more in him.

  34. “The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning. They also brought him bread and meat in the evening. He drank water from the brook.”
    1 Kings 17:6

Our Lord is so great. Elijah followed God whom guided him, and God blessed him with water and bread. Elijah also prayed to our Lord 3 times and the widows son was brought back to life by God.
Thank you Jesus for this day!

  35. 5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

When we are obedient to what the Lord command us to do. God will always provide! We have the assurance that no matter how impossible all seems. When we submit to His will and ways. Doors are open, ways are paved and we are even well fed. What a Mighty Wonderful God we serve!

  36. 14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

I totally missed that they all ate for many days on the emptied cruse and little mill.

Many times we forget all too quickly the miracles that Jesus is doing and has done foe us. We see here that this lady forgot, and until the boy came back to life, she had doubts. Do we question Jesus? Do we act like spoiled brats when things don’t go our way?

  37. 24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

The women was ready to prepare herself and her son to die. She was ready to prepare her last meal. Yet the man of God made a request. In his request she would have to put his needs above theirs. She would have to step beyond what she saw as reality and put her fait into action. In doing do she saved them. Yet, a new opportunity arose. The death that her faith saved her from came knocking at her door again. This time only for her son. Yet shaken faith is still faith and again God came through.

Let us not allow opportunities to drawn out what God is doing. Let us walk in great faith because we know He can do all things.

  38. 24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

Doubt… it seems that it is a huge and human thing to conquer. One may say its human to doubt. But, why do we? Why is our heart and mind so hard to convince…so hard to believe. To trust. We see there throughout the scriptures. The children of Israel, God’s chosen people, even after being live witnesses of the miraculous wonders he did for them time and time again. Even after seeing all the plagues with which the Lord attacked egypt, they still doubted in their heart and feared for their lives. The pillar of fire by night, the cloud by day and still feared at the crossing of the red sea and even up to possessing their land. A feared that made their hearts doubt. What else did the Lord had to do for them to believe? The truth is that we too go through all this. We too struggle with this “human nature” of ours. Belief, honestly is supernatural. Believing in one who you cannot see. You being to wonder how is the Lord gonna provide, help or deliver? And this chapter is filled with Gods supernatural power. From commanding birds to feed the man of God, to keeping provision and raising the dead. However let’s make it personal. Could we think of something or the many things in which you can say and point out that truly had to be the Lord. We too should he honest enough like the man that asked Jesus to heal his son. He cried I believe, Lord help thou my unbelief! What makes the difference though?? What would make your heart have assurance in a loving, Savior, God and Father? How was it that the man of God just obeyed and left to wherever God told him to that he would sustain him there? I believe that it was relationship. Prayer after prayer, words and scriptures that made his faith believe. The only way that you know you can trust someone is to actually KNOW Them. And how do you do that?? You invite them into your life. You go out to eat with them, you share life with them, you talk to them. They show up when they said they would. And you do the same. You hear them speak and you see them act. Their words match their actions. And thus you know and say. I know my friend. He wouldn’t fail me. Why? Cause you have gotten close enough to believe in them. To know who they are. Do only way that I would say one can defeat fear and doubt is to be so close to in relationship that there is just no room for it. Sorry. All places in my heart are filled by his goodness, his faithful, his love. It all goes down to the beginning. In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God and the Word was God. You must build your life upon that Word. That is the foundation. You must allow him to talk to you through his Word and you must talk to him in prayer. You must work out that relationship and allow God, Perfect Love, to cast out all fears. What is the opposite of fear? Revelation. We fear what we do not know, a noise, a shadow, a possible outcome, danger… but when we Know what is behind that then there is no fear. In a world filled with doubt, anxiety and fear God is the Light, God is the Truth, and God is the way. And He offers righteousness, peace and joy, in the Holy Ghost.

Like the woman said, no by this I Know thou art a man of God… then Get to Know God. Get to know his Words and thoughts towards you. And leave no room for fear and doubt….

  39. 14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

God has a plan for everything. We might not think something isn’t useful, but in His eyes they are! Each and everyone of us are apart of His plan. We must follow His word and guidance through life to be proven worthy. We have to try to save as many people as we can so we can all enter into heaven together. It really hurts my heart to see people pull away from the church because they are hurting or don’t believe. I hope and pry tonight that we are all reaching out to the lost so they can be saved as well!!!

  40. 23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

  41. “And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When we are consistent things can change. We must stay strong and never give up. We must continue to have a prayer life not just when things are bad but when things are good. It’s about relationship. When you have a relationship with him your prayer is different your praise is different. You walk with him is different.

  42. Olivia Johnson’s

    Until God

“So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17:10-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The widow woman didn’t know what to do until the man of god arrived at her door step. Outreach is what the profit did that day and god got a new soul. This is why we need to outreach this is why we go on outreach rain, sleet or snow we will always go out to reach the lost . When god came into the widow woman’s family they lived and prospered when they were about to die. They gave up their needs to the man of god because they believed in the man of god. I will give up my needs and I will believe what he says. I hope that you will trust the man of god and believe what he says with me.

  43. “Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Lord is mighty and can do all things. God spoke to Elijah to go to Jordan and their will God provide food and water and shelter and Elijah obey God’s word and God performs what He had spoken. God is a way maker, miracle worker, and a promise keeper He will never fail us for He is for us so let your trust be in the Lord forever.

  44. Obedience is better than sacrifice

In this account you find many notable things to pull out.

    1. Great faith- not only great faith by the widow woman to give her last meal to the prophet…. that is great faith, but also great faith in the prophet that God would provide for this widow woman in abundance that they both should live through the miracle.

    2. Great Respect and Submission.
This widow woman had great respect for the ministry. You don’t see God speaking to her to give her last meal to this man of God. You only see the man of God tell her what to do. She knew that this was the same as God telling her himself.

    3. Great Obedience- both sides with the man of God and the woman. But the obedience to death that the woman displayed is a type of Gods love for his church. She laid down all she had that the prophet might live. This woman had hardly anything but what she has the gave it to the man of God. Just like Christ’s example on the earth, he wasn’t rich, he came a a servant but he gave everything he had for us!

    4.

If we truly want to see miracles in these days just as they did in the Bible, I believe it’s going to take all 3 of theses in action…. Faith, Respect, and Obedience. Without all theses in play, miracles can’t take place.

Faith- the beginning of our walk is to believe the Jesus is.

Respect and Submission- we have to believe that our Pastor is called of God and we respect his voice .The submission comes to life when it doesn’t make any since.

Obedience- it is exactly what it is. Just doing what you are told.

Obedience is better than sacrifice but when you put them together it is eminent.

  45. “Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17:9, 13-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Elijah had the word. God told him that the widow would take care of him, but it was Elijah’s voice that that God used to speak to the woman. The widow was obviously a woman of faith as when Elijah spoke she believed. The Bible does recount the woman being told by God what to do. It does however give us the example that this woman was faithful to her tasks as she was going to take care of her family. She was also sensitive to God because she listened to the man of God. She was faithful and obedient. She told the man of God her plan, but when he instructed to feed him first, she obeyed. Even though God may speak to us individually, God will use the man of God to give clarity and direction. It’s our job to be foul of faith and obey.

  46. 5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

He went and did according unto the word of the Lord?
We sometimes , maybe most of the time, try to do things on our own , the way we prefer to do them, then we wonder why things don’t come out the way “they should” ….

  47. 21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.
22 And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

Intercessory prayer goes a long way. Pray does work and can even change lives. . . literally. Elijah in one of many of his miracles that he was able to witness and be apart of.
