2 Kings 11

And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the Lord, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the king’s son.

And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;

And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.

And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.

And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.

And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

10 And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David’s spears and shields, that were in the temple of the Lord.

11 And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.

12 And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

13 And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the Lord.

14 And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

15 But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the Lord.

16 And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king’s house: and there was she slain.

17 And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people; between the king also and the people.

18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.

19 And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

20 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.

21 Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.

  1. Verses 5-8 MSG “Then he commanded them, “These are your instructions: Those of you who come on duty on the Sabbath and guard the palace, and those of you who go off duty on the Sabbath and guard The Temple of God, are to join forces at the time of the changing of the guard and form a ring around the young king, weapons at the ready. Kill anyone who tries to break through your ranks. Your job is to stay with the king at all times and places, coming and going.” We are in these times, of having to be warrior ready and guard what we have in the Lord. We cannot allow anything or anyone to break through our ranks and try to destroy what we have in the Lord. We too must join forces in unity to keep the enemy out and at bay…..better yet destroy it!!

  2. 12 And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

20 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.
21 Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.

Moses was almost 80 years old when he was called to lead the people out of egypt and had a stuttering problem, Jeremiah the prophet never reached one person and thought he was too young for the job, Noah got drunk right after sacrificing on the altar after he got off the ark, and Abraham was told that his seed would be a nation at 75 years old… God has no physical limitations or qualifications when he calls us to do something. There’s an age-old saying that says ” God doesn’t call the qualified, but qualifies the called” God is not concerned with anything on the outside when it comes to doing his work. Is it the only thing can take care of any limitation or aspect. What’s most important is the heart and the obedience of the people that he is calling. If we feel God has called us to do something are only concerned is to make sure that it’s God calling us. That’s the only thing we have to understand. It has nothing to do with our capabilities our height or weight or even age, if God calls us to do it we’re capable of it

  3. 1. And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

    14. And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

    16. And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king’s house: and there was she slain.

How ironic that she would cry Treason when they made the true heir king, but she is the very one who tried (and thought she had succeeded) to kill all the royal heirs.

    Psalm 7:
    15. He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.

    16. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

  4. 2Kings 12,13 And Jehoiada brought out the king’s son and put the crown on him and gave him the Testimony the Mosaic Law; and they proclaimed him king and anointed him,and they clapped their hands and said,Long live the king!
When Athaliah heard the noise of the guards and the people, she went into the house of the Lord to the people. It don’t matter what age we are God has a plan for each of us.
If God be before us, than who can be against us.
Athaliah thought she had it all regure it out.
    But God was there.

  5. 17 And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people; between the king also and the people.
18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.

First order of business: get right with the Lord. More than anything we must save ourselves and get rid of anything that would keep us from being a vessel God could use.

  6. 1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

3 And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

Even the enemy of the Lord will try to destroy what God has ordained.

The very thought that Athaliah would destroy the royal seed to keep from being thrown from the palace after her seed was slain for not serving the Lord. We see that when wickedness takes over it will try to rise up to the top and rule the people with fear and doubt. We have a choice to either take a stand for the kingdom of God or allow the enemy to rule us with great fear. When the anointing of God is chosen and they are willing to keep the principles of God, there will be nothing that can touch them. They will rise up among the heathen and take their rightful place. Even though Joash was only seven when he took the throne, it was approved by God and Athaliah was slain for her wickedness.

No matter what circumstances come against you, you can and will be protected by the hand of the Lord. That is why it’s very important to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness you will have victory over the enemy. Remember we the church will be victorious in the end. Let’s have church and reap the harvest in this time for a great revival.

  7. 2 Kings 11:1-3
    1) AND when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.
    2) But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.
    3) And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. An Athaliah did reign over the land.

You see Athaliah thought she had destroyed all the seed royal. She thought she had killed all her grandsons. So to her, they were all dead, BUT Joash Was Hid In The House Of The LORD.
This made me think of Colossians 3:3, “For ye are dead, and Your Life Is Hid With Christ In God.”
You see, we are dead to this world, BUT in all actuality, “Our Life Is Hid With Christ In God.”

  8. 3 And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

The best place to go for safety is the Lord’s house.
Get in his presence. Before Jesus Chist we did not have the opportunity to have his presence with us everyday anywhere but today because of Jesus we have a safe place we can go.
When this world comes in like a flood we can go to his presence and rest.

  9. Help me Lord🙏!
11:16,17 and they hands off her and she went by the way by with the horses went came into the kings house and there she was slain.
And Jehoiada made a covenant between the lord and the king and the people that they should be the Lord people, between the king also and the people.
    —-
Boy!!! They were on a mission…..
There is a verse in the Bible that says:
You will not have to fight this battle
Just stand there and watch the Lord save you…..
Well, not in this case, they had a plan, and they must do whatever they needed to do, to bring it to pass.
( of course, always walking in the Lords will)
Lord, help me, help me to recognized which battles to fight , Ann’s those in which you just me to say still.
And also to shake off those who are send to distract me from your will.
    🙏

  10. Bro g down the idols that hinder you!!!
18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.

I was just talking to my husband about this and how our cell phones could consume so much of our time. Don’t take me wrong the cell phone can be a great tool for reaching souls, to market your business, and for education but it should not be something that can slave you. My phone sends me a notice of how much time I have spent on line and although I even pray for people through Facebook the truth is that my time on line needs to be cut down drastically!! So beginning next week I will only check my Facebook twice a day. I will only take phone calls from my Pastor, his wife, my doctors, and my family. If we are friends you can call me if you need prayer but if is something mundane I will be letting you know. It is time to go back in time a bit and disconnect from all things that hinder you. Thank you Jesus for showing me the things that need to be shed!!! How much time are you connected to technology? Is it taking over your life? Ask Jesus to show you and He will.

  11. Jesus is the ruler of all. Jesus is our mother, our father, our sister and brother. Jesus is our Lord and saviour. God show his people years and years ago what to do and he shows us what to do now. We ask ANYTHING from God and its ours! Even a 7 year old as a king! God is our rock and provide oh praise him morning evening and night. We are victorous!

  12. Why did they make joash king when he was only seven years old. Was the king about to die or what, what happened

  13. “Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD, the king, and the people, that they should be the LORD’s people, and also between the king and the people. And all the people of the land went to the temple of Baal, and tore it down. They thoroughly broke in pieces its altars and images, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.”
    ‭‭II Kings‬ ‭11:17-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Their covenant reminds me of the covenant at POFW. How Pastor has put into place instructions and opportunities for us strengthen our walk with the Lord and become effective leaders. When the Lord has delivered you from something you can’t keep any part of it around. You must destroy/remove it totally.

  14. 12Then Jehoiada brought out Joash, the king’s son, placed the crown on his head, and presented him with a copy of God’s laws.b They anointed him and proclaimed him king, and everyone clapped their hands and shouted, “Long live the king!”

We all should have a copy of God’s law, the Bible. Yes, we have a copy, but how many actually opens it to read it. It does no good if one doesn’t know the laws. Let’s read and learn the Word of God.

  15. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
Wow, the one child that was spared by an absolute miracle would be in the lineage of King Jesus. The enemy tried to destroy all the royal seed but one remained, a remnant and that is all it took to uproot the evil queen. The principle here is that God’s plan will always come through no matter what else tries to stop it.

  16. “But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain. And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭11:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This takes me back to the story of Moses. Joash here hidden for so long as the enemy lingered in the midst!
We the church must stand guard and protect the man of GOD our pastor from the mouth of the enemy. If we allow the enemy to destroy the anointed one (pastor) then he knows that the sheep will be scattered.
As we continue to Protect, Pray, and Praise as ONE body we will be victorious over the enemy.

    Faith will always Trump fear.
But fear will always put limit what GOD desires to do in your life.
    Faith OBEYS GOD.
    Fear obeys men.

  17. Keep Watch of the House of the Lord
    5 And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;

6 And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.

7 And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.

Know ye not your body is the temple of the Lord?
    1Corinthians 6:19

And they shall keep watch of the house of the Lord.
How important to guard the house of the Lord.
In this passage the people were placed strategically to guard the temple and to also protect the King. Joash had been protected as a child to become the King. Jesus Christ when he was born also had to be hidden in order to protect Him from King Herod who wanted to slay Him.
Today we are the Temple of the Lord. He dwells within us and we must guard our temple . We must keep a watch on every area of our life. Physical, mental , emotional. All of these areas make up the Temple of the Lord. If I allow my self to become broken down in any areas it can lead to depression and oppression. Daily we set a guard over our minds by reading the word of God. Helmet of Salvation being assured of your walk with God truth in salvation that you have received power through being born again of water and Spirit. We cover our emotions with the Breastplate of Righteousness, guarding our hearts by allowing God to saturate our emotional needs He knows how to bring people into your life with Spiritual strength. It’s so important that we do not feed our emotions off of someone else. And the physical by walking in shoes prepared with peace. We must truly use the Armor of God daily. The Sword of the Spirit , Our loins girded with the belt of trying guarding the desires of the flesh . Help us to continue to hold up the Shield of Faith and never doubt that God can do anything . Yes we can and must guard the temple of God where the king of Kings lives today within us . The world needs to see us Live and Give Jesus. I pray in our weak moments Lord that you remind us daily to clothe ourself with your Armor snd Guard Your temple so we can Live and Give You . Our King Jesus Christ Reigns in our lives today .
    Ephesians 6
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against (H)the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

  18. 12 And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

No one nor anything can stop the plans of God. God is always working for his people, he can do anything.

  19. “And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭11:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Be in position! Just as Jehoiada instructed those who were to protect the king, we must listen to what God is saying and be a vessel ready for Him to use. Whether we are to intercede for someone, give a word of encouragement, or bless someone – we need to make sure we are in position to hear His instruction.

  20. “In the seventh year of Athaliah’s reign, Jehoiada the priest summoned the commanders, the Carite mercenaries, and the palace guards to come to the Temple of the Lord. He made a solemn pact with them and made them swear an oath of loyalty there in the Lord’s Temple; then he showed them the king’s son. Jehoiada told them, “This is what you must do. A third of you who are on duty on the Sabbath are to guard the royal palace itself. Another third of you are to stand guard at the Sur Gate. And the final third must stand guard behind the palace guard. These three groups will all guard the palace. The other two units who are off duty on the Sabbath must stand guard for the king at the Lord’s Temple. Form a bodyguard around the king and keep your weapons in hand. Kill anyone who tries to break through. Stay with the king wherever he goes.” So the commanders did everything as Jehoiada the priest ordered. The commanders took charge of the men reporting for duty that Sabbath, as well as those who were going off duty. They brought them all to Jehoiada the priest, and he supplied them with the spears and small shields that had once belonged to King David and were stored in the Temple of the Lord. The palace guards stationed themselves around the king, with their weapons ready. They formed a line from the south side of the Temple around to the north side and all around the altar.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭11:4-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

One reason Athaliah was able to reign for six years was that no one knew any alternative. Many people live under the reign of Satan because they don’t really know there is a legitimate king ready to take reign in their lives.

  21. 2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

3 And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

Without the courage of Josheba the life of Joash may not have been spared.

There will always be an “Athaliah” trying to rule with ill intentions, with a bad motive for everything.

But God will always raise up a “Jehosheba” to protect the plan and promises of God!

  22. 2 Kings 11:8
[8]Form a bodyguard around the king and keep your weapons in hand. Kill anyone who tries to break through. Stay with the king wherever he goes.”

When the enemy tries to attack we can use our weapons- Spirit of God, Name of Jesus, blood of Jesus, scripture, word of our testimony, prayer, and praise. With these weapons you can break through anything.

  23. “Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people that they would be the LORD’s people. He also made a covenant between the king and the people. And all the people of the land went over to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They demolished the altars and smashed the idols to pieces, and they killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars. Jehoiada the priest stationed guards at the Temple of the LORD.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭11:17-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    The Time Has Come
Jehoiada the priest stood up for what was right. A covenant was made between the king and the people. And the PEOPLE tore down the temple of Baal. The PEOPLE demolished the altars and idols and killed Mattan the priest of Baal. It’s time to get the house in order. We are called a chosen generation, a royal PRIESTHOOD. First establish a covenant with God and declare that we are His people. And then we must stand for what is right. We must demolish the altars, idols and evil voices in our lives. The Time Has Come!

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”
    ‭‭I Peter‬ ‭2:9-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  24. 17 And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people; between the king also and the people.

18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.

When the Leader does right, the people will do right and follow the leader. As leaders, we must be cautious of what we say and do, because people are watching. Good and bad, people are watching. I ran across this yesterday and I think it’s appropriate for today’s blog:

Determining Factors When Making a Decision:
    1. The Scriptural Test – Has God already spoke about it in His Word (2 Tim 3:16)
    2. The Secret Test – Would it bother me if everyone knew this was
    my choice (Pro 11:3)
    3. The Survey Test – What if everyone followed my example (1 Tim 4:12)
    4. The Spiritual Test – Am I being spirit-led or people pressured (Gal 4:10)
    5. The Stumbling Test – Is this decision going to cause others to
    stumble (Rom 14:21)
    6. The Serenity Test – Have I prayed and received peace about
    this decision (Phil 4:6-7)
    7. The Sanctification Test – Will this decision keep me growing
in the character of Christ (1 Cor 3:18)
    8. The Supreme Test – Does this decision glorify God (1 Cor 10:31)

If we would apply this entire set of decision making questions to every decision we make, those following us would be safe in following their leaders, and they would follow in our footsteps to make good, Godly decisions.

  25. LIVE-GIVE JESUS
    MY HIDING PLACE

3 And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

This testimony is a beautiful illustration of the safety that we find in the House of the LORD. The boy was submitted to his aunt and was protected by the LORD in the House of the LORD. Teaching us that if we will remain submitted in the house of the LORD we will be protected and promoted.

The psalmist prayed the same prayer:

Psalms 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

    ONE THING

Psalm 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

When I am in the LORD, he hides me in HIS house, because HE loves me. Lets GO to the House of the LORD for REVIVAL and HIDE in HIM.

  26. 2 Kings Chapter 11

Jesus the God of Israel and our God Kept the linage of King David. This is also the linage of Jesus from King David. Yet Joash is not in the linage of Jesus found in Mathew. After king Solomon the linage is separated from Jesus. It is amassing that that the advisory is stopped again. A king at 7 years old. David’s linage was preserved.

  27. 1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

It’s hard to feel sorry for Athaliah when the same thing came back around to her. But we are not the judge, God is. She did reap what she sowed and it’s a shame that so many lives were lost to her hunger for power.

  28. 8 “…Stay with the king wherever he goes.”

Reminded of the story of Ruth and Naomi “where you go – i go”

This is the ideal relationship with not only you and God, but you and your Pastor. With unity between you and God, and you and your Pastor ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!

  29. 3 And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

There is no better place to take refuge then in the house of the Lord. It is in his presence that we find shelter and strength. Don’t let anyone detour you from what God has for you. He will give you the power to press through all things that are not like him. When trouble comes remember there is shelter in the house of the Lord.

  30. v17
When we choose the way of righteousness over unrighteuoness, it forms for us a special relationship with the Lord; we belong to Him! When we belong to Him we are able to enjoy a whole new world of wonderful things.
We see that repentance is turning around from going the wrong direction on the road of life and heading in the right direction, the director of righteousness.

  31. 18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.

“All the people” destroyed Baal. There was a unity in this chapter that should arise within every home, church body, and nation. This unity is in defense of the Kingdom of God. This unity says there is One God and Jesus is His name.

  32. 8 Form a bodyguard around the king and keep your weapons in hand. Kill anyone who tries to break through. Stay with the King wherever he goes
    2 Kings 11:8 NLT

As we are the children of the Lord, we must be ready and prepared for when the Lord needs us. The Lord can and will use you in so many ways, you may not think your ready but when you face it God is with you showing you and helping you. We must also be ready to protect his word, many now days try and twist the Bible but we know the truth and we must stand tall with it, do not let any enemy get in your head and try to mess with it. I pray we have faith in the Lord, that we’re ready for anything he needs us and that we remain faithful unto the Lord always, but also that we fight for the Lord and his truth.

  33. 11 And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.

We should always be ready. We have to be ready to fight against any enemy that may come against us. We can not allow fear or doubt to run through our minds. We are strong and mighty people of God! Know who you are, and know your worth! You are beautiful in my eyes and His. I pray tonight that we are being strong in the spirit, and always remember that He is with you, and will never leave you!

  34. “So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was peaceful because Athaliah had been killed at the king’s palace. Joash was seven years old when he became king.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭11:20-21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Start young. There is no age barrier for working for the kingdom of God. God will judge everyone. We need to serve God no matter the age or the lifestyle we all need to work for his kingdom, because faith without work is useless. Joash started at 7 it helped me understand that I can work for him no matter the little or big the job is.

    2 Kings 11:17-18 NLT

When we make a covenant with God we have to do what we promise. Do it faithfully and willingly. That means we have to leave our old ways behind and let God fix our lives. Do His will because His ways are greater than our ways.

  36. And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the Lord , and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the Lord , and shewed them the king’s son.
    2 Kings 11:2‭-‬4 KJV

The interesting thing to note is that God’s Word will not fail. His words shall not pass away. The Lord has promised to always have a “light” on the throne a seed of David because of David’s sake. Despite good and many bad kings, the Lord kept his word and did not utterly destroy the king seed of David from taking the throne. When it looked like all of the kings sons were gonna be killed, God had a plan. He had a Jehosheba, to ensure God’s word and promise still was fulfilled. Jehosheba’s name literally means according to Strong’s: Jehosheba = “Jehovah has sworn”
So no matter what enemy may arise God’s promise and Word prevails and He will ensure that there is someone to be used to accomplish his promise.

  37. Get it right early

21 Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.

This chapter tells of the people setting things right in the Kingdom. They set up a new king got rid of everything that was not of God. This young king would know what was right from the beginning. This is what we have to do in our families and in our own lives. Sometimes you just got to hit the reset button and start over just like they did here. This young king symbolized a fresh new start.

  38. 2 Kings 11:17 And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people; between the king also and the people.

Joshua 24:24 And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

We must obey and serve our God! Keep our covenant between the Lord

  39. “And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭11:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The people choose to take it down. In unity the people came together and wanted the idolatry gone. In unity the went. In unity it came down. It wasn’t just something that happened because someone commanded, it happened because theft wanted it and there was unity. Righteous unity can do great and mighty things.

  40. 18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.

It seems like leadership trickles down.
Its obvious whatever a king worships the people will begin to worship. When we look at israel and their back and fourth pattern they literally went back and fourth every time a new king was in place and if that king worshipped someone other than God then they started worshipping that other God. They were easily persuaded it seems.
Id say its safe to say that we should pray for jerusalem today.

  41. And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the Lord , and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
    2 Kings 11:19 KJV

I know this is talking about the boy king Joash, but I think about the tyranny in so many cou tries in the world. All the rulers and officials that have to stand by and watch these evil people in power. But there is a King that is an Avenger and a Just Ruler. He sits on the Throne and our hearts have pledged full allegence to Him. My God, the King of Kings

  42. 17 And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people; between the king also and the people.
18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.

Be a leader! Have people follow by your example. You should inspire people to want to make good choices and put up certain fences in their life. We should shine His light and be an encouragement to others. Pushing and inspiring others to want what we have. Do you inspire others?
