Acts 12

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.

20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king’s country.

21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.

  1. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

Sometimes when you are praying very hard and have great expectations, the answer will sometimes be a surprise that will shock you. They had prayed without ceasing, wanting the miracle of peter’s release from prison because he was going to be killed. Sometimes we allow our carnality to over ride our hope and our knowing God can deliver. We have to sometimes know that seeing is not just believing, but having the opportunity to touch and make sure that our imagination is not playing tricks on us. Having the ability to pray that would produce the move of God that would break shackles and open prison doors to allow someone to clearly walk out.

We have to realize that God did that for some of us, to release us from our sin and to allow us to walk out of our addictions and the shackles and chains fell off once the anointing of God came upon us to change us forever. That person that we are praying for God to release out of the hold of sin, sometimes gets delivered and we can’t believe our eyes. Remember that the God we serve is a miracle working God. He is a way-maker, deliverer, a promise keeper, and light in the darkness. If we are full of the spirit of God, then him doing what we asked for is not going to be a surprise, but an answer to our prayers. Hold fast to the promises of God.

    49 Days of Fire2!

  2. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

When we are in bondage or the opposition is not humanly surmountable, were can be assured that deliverance is possible to those that are actively ministering for the Lord.

  3. Acts 12:5-7
    5) Peter therefore was kept in prison: BUT PRAYER Was Made WITHOUT CEASING Of The CHURCH Unto GOD For Him.
    6) And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, Bound With Two Chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
    7) And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a LIGHT Shined In The Prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And His Chains Fell Off From His Hands.

“PRAY WITHOUT CEASING” (1 Thess. 5:17)
The Church must “PRAY WITHOUT CEASING” for people, for we never know when the LIGHT of JESUS is going to Shine In The Prison of someone’s life and Loose Their Chains and Set Them Free.

Isaiah 42:7 says, “… to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.”
Isaiah 61:1 says, “… to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.”

PRAY that the LIGHT of JESUS will Shine in lives today, and that their Chains Will Be Loosed, and they will be Set Free!

  4. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

    Pray Without Ceasing
If we truly believe prayer is the key ; we must continue to pray. There evidently was doubt in the people yet the word says they continued to pray . God is able to do anything. I will continue to pray . Peter knew it was God and His sovereignty that had delivered him. We must not stop interceding there are things God is doing and is going to do .
There have been times I’ve not known how God would answer but as Peter himself was astonished God has astonished me. There is no limit on God what He can do !

  5. I love to read of my Gods power. He can do anything. So many miracles in today’s time that he does not get credit for. God is our all in all! Thank you Jesus for your power! I love POFW!

  6. 11. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

    17. But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

    21. And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

    22. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

    23. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Peter gave God the glory for what He had done for him and went away a free man, but Herod did not and was immediately eaten of worms!

    You deserve the glory
    And the honor
    Lord, we lift our hands
    In worship
As we lift your Holy name

    For You are great
    You do miracles so great
There is no one else like You
There is no one else like You

  7. What a fitting chapter for today and confirmation of His word, as we are talking about the Letter to Philadelphia in Sunday School today. Our lesson says “In this letter, Jesus reminded them that He was in complete control. While circumstances may seem dire and death may feel final, we must trust God. He is not weak, and satan is not in control. Though it may take a season of patience and longsuffering, circumstances will eventually bow to His will. God calls us to be patient and trust Him to carry us through the darkest of valleys. God will take care of you during trying times. If we stay faithful, He will give us strength to make it through any situation. Even when we feel weak, God can guide and strengthen us. Just as the church at Philadelphia kept moving forward in the face of difficulties, their reward for holding fast and trusting God was victory on the other side of that open door”. So just like Peter waited patiently on the other side of the door, we too must do the same and keep moving forward trusting in God as He is in control.

  8. 6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

Peter was so shocked at what was happening that he did it all in disbelief until he got out into the city. The angel of the Lord unlocked Peter but Peter had to dress himself. The angel gave instruction but Peter had to follow. The angel got the past the first two wards the city gate opened its self. Beyond the open door Peter had to go forth without the angel.

What a great lesson for us all. God desires for us to be free so much that He sends a angel to free us but we have to take the step to get out of our prison clothes and leave them behind to follow where God is leading us to. Once he breaks us out door of influence will open that we will have to travel through alone with the Holy Ghost. Others will not believe what’s happening but keep marching on because God is doing the work.

  9. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

God hears our prayers. Peter was sleeping knowing he was to be killed in the morning. He had the peace of God in him.
We must continue to pray without ceasing.

  10. 13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

Begin expecting the unexpected. They prayed for Peter while he was in prison, yet when he shows up, they don’t believe it. Rhoda simply heard his voice and immediately believed he was actually there.

When we hear the voice of God we better be expecting and preparing for that miracle to come to pass. He can and He will do great works among us, even today!

  11. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

Facing almost certain Doom, Peter was sleeping between two guards while the church prayed. The question is, was he sleeping because the church was praying or because his faith was on something else? While it is important that the church was praying and covering him while he was under the circumstances he was in, I personally believe that it was the words that Jesus had told him while he was on the Earth. Jesus said” when you are old” in John 21:18 , Jesus indicated that Peter would live into an age where somebody else would take care of him. The same as when Jesus told his disciples that they were going to go to the other side of the sea, and then fell asleep during a torrential storm. When we are in God’s hands not only are we taken care of but we are protected.

  12. Acts 12: 16-17 ( Peter miraculously released from prison)
But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
    (17) But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of prison. And he said, Go show these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and when into another place.
Keep on knocking on them doors and searching and wait patiently on the Lord he will seen angels to break every chain to set people free.
    As he did for Peter.
Those that wait upon the Lord he renew our strength.
God is in control at all times.
There nothing my God can’t do .

  13. “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:5‬ ‭KJV

Hallelujah!!!! What an encouraging word this morning!
Knowing that my/our prayers is never in vain. My prayers will be answered in due time. It may be today or in my tomorrow. As long as I’m not praying amiss.
Without any doubt the word of GOD clearly tells us to pray without ceasing. I’m thankful that we are church on a move. We are a church of prayer. We all know without prayer in our lives POFW will go nowhere. We have a lot to testify about in how Jesus has answered our prayers… greater things are still to come. Hallelujah!!!

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭AMP‬‬
A cleaned heart, clean hands, with faith can move any mountain. Angels are waiting to work on our behalf.

  14. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

The amazing Power of Prayer! What things can be loosed that have been restricted if we would commit to praying? Harvest of souls, prodigals coming home, ministries being birthed, missionaries having favor and authority in the region they were sent!! Power of prayer!!! Hallelujah!!

  15. A reason for this season.

Through the imprisonments and through the hard times. Through the death of Stephen and the slander against the disciples. The word of God still spread and impacted lives. We as individuals may go through the grit and mud at time. But people all around you are watching. Their faith is being built watching you go forward, watching you just keep pressing on.

Hold on to faith. God will see you through.

“Meanwhile, the word of God continued to spread, and there were many new believers.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  16. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    DELIVERED

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

This testimony brings hope to all that are bound. GOD can do anything, when we surrender our lives to JESUS and follow HIS will, HE will bring it to pass. Peter was bound by chains, guarded by man and surrounded by walls, but JESUS DELIVERED him from them all.

I feel a unique season of DELIVERANCE over the church as we pray in JESUS Name. We will see many DELIVERED.

    iRepent
    iPriase
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  17. 14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

If we are praying and believing for people to be delivered from the prisons that their soul is in, then we must not be astonished when God delivers them, but rejoice.

It was the non-ceasing prayers of the Church that caused God to send an angel of deliverance. Keep praying for those prayers you have yet to see answers for, starting thanking God and worshipping Him like you’re going to when they walk through the door, and watch God send an angel to deliver them. It’s our time for harvest and rejoicing @ POFW.

  18. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

This is what happens when people try to take the place of the one true God. It is not meant for man to go around and play God. Man do not have the power to create something out of nothing. Man cannot forgive sins or fill you with his spirit. We must not worship man, but rather worship God. No matter how many great things people do, they still cannot compare to our God. He is the only one that can save you from yourself and then turn around and give you the power to overcome everything else thrown your way. Praise and honor to the one true God whose name is Jesus.

  19. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Thank God for answering prayers it may not be in my time but it is always on time. We have to stand in the gap for the ones that are prisoners in their mind and running from the truth. Our sons and daughters are coming home if we don’t believe that than who will? We gotta pray for the one that has left the truth that will God open their eyes and hearts to return.

  20. Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Matthew 18:19 Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

I Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

People are going to be healed, delivered by our fervent prayer day and night!!

  21. 15 and they said unto her: thou are mad
But she constantly affirmed that it was even so
Then said they, it is his Anel .
    —-
Ok, if praying in a situation worth our ceasing
I’d better believe that anything can happen
And that, that which I have be praying for will come to
    Pass..,
Tus girl in her excitement and confirmation in which they
And also her we’re praying about, froze and didn’t open the door🙌..
But the rest of the people had a Lille bit of a hard time
Accepting right away the words that came out of the girls mouth.
Suddenly things can happen. At the moment, in the mid of prayer
Or they can reflect later.. but I will come to pass.
    Hallelujah 🙌

  22. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

It doesn’t matter what might have you bound, one thing is for sure JESUS CAN SER YOU FREE!!!!

  23. ““You’re out of your mind!” they said. When she insisted, they decided, “It must be his angel.” Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally opened the door and saw him, they were amazed.” ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:15-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This part of the chapter had me thinking…
Rhoda was so excited to hear from Peter that she left him out at the gate, but what is so interesting was how the people who were praying earnestly had doubts about what God had done.

I wonder how many times we as humans have done the same thing this people did, doubt God and what He has done or is willing to do or done for us.
Little faith can accomplish great things if it is placed in the great God.

  24. v22 ” It is the voice of a Gid, and not of a man”

Once Herod learned that Peter’s escape had thwarted his plane, he vented his wrath by killing the guards. As, powerful as he was, he soon experienced a greater power of judgment and wrath.
Herod did not acknowledge God and give Him glory. Immediately, an angel appeared and smote Herod with a deadly disease. His body became I tested with worms, and he died .
TO GOD BE ALL OF THE GLORY!!!
HE DESERVES ALL OF THE GLORY!!!

  25. Acts of the Apostles 12:5
But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.

We need to pray boldly for the lost, for those in prison and those who feel imprisoned to their addiction. As Pastor preached this morning don’t fear the fire. As a church we need to rise up and be united together and reach the lost in our city. If we fear the fire we can’t save the lost. Lord here I am send me where you want me to go.

    Obedience to God

    Jonah
God said to Jonah, Jonah, get up and go to Nineveh and deliver a message. Jonah gets up and he goes the other way to Tarshish. For 3 days he was in the belly of a fish. Jonah prayed and the fish spits him out on the shore. God said, “Jonah, get up and go to Nineveh.” This time Jonah goes to Nineveh. Nineveh is the place someone would want to go. We will go places where we don’t feel comfortable but Jesus is always with us. Jonah goes into Nineveh, and he walks right into the heart of the city and he delivers God’s message, 40 days and God’s going to overturn Nineveh. Nineveh rather than destroy Jonah, rather than ignore the message, all of a sudden, they break out into repentance. It is this incredible revival meeting starting with the King. God is gracious and God will spare us. Jonah, the disobedient prophet goes into the heart of evil and utters five mere words with no heart at all and suddenly, the place is in a revival. Rather than celebrating, he’s sulking. God comes to him because all of this now, all of this setup is to set up this conversation. Jonah, do you do well to be so angry? Is this anger a good thing, Jonah?” [laughs] Instead of judging Jonah, instead of just wiping Jonah out, “Jonah, is your anger a good thing, God says? Then Jonah just unloads on God, “Come on Lord wasn’t this precisely my point when I was back in my own land? Isn’t that why I fled to Tarshish. I know you’re a merciful and compassionate God. You’re very patient and you’re full of faithful love and you’re not willing to destroy.” think of all the things that people complain about God. People get mad at God because of all the suffering that’s in the world and all the needless suffering and the people who have to suffer. God’s help comes but comes very slowly, or maybe God seems aloof and can’t seem to get God’s attention, or maybe people are angry with God because God is so judgmental. When was the last time you saw someone get angry with God because God was so merciful or compassionate? This is who God is. God’s steadfast love, God’s faithful love endures forever. Joy: Life is not a series of events, but a continual unfolding opportunity to embrace the way of love and share the love of Jesus to those around us. “Lord, make me an instrument, not of resentment, not of anger, not of the problem, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love, where there’s injury pardon, where there is doubt let me sow faith, where there is despair let me sow hope, where there is darkness let me sow light, where there is sorrow let me sow joy.

In these 40 days of fire we can’t fear the fire. God can do anything.

  26. iLove the Kingdom of Fire2
And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

Wow, it use to be Peter, James, and John but now James is not. Very sad situation here where the Apostles are facing persecution and death. James was killed by the sword, and now they have Peter about to kill him. One of the biggest miracles here was the fact that Peter was sleeping peacefully right before his death. This was peace beyond anything that the world could ever give.

  27. 4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

Prayer and fasting can change any situation.

  28. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

After Peter is safely out of prison and away from the prison, the angel leaves him to make his own way. Always, when we work for Jesus, He walks with us and leads us until we are established to walk on our own. We ourselves must not start on a road that the Lord has not opened to us.

  29. Acts 12

And his chains fell off his hands.

14 And when she heard Peters voice, she opened not for the gates of gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her: thou are mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then say, it is his angel.

Peter was thrown in prison and God helped him escape. The church was praying for Peter fervently, their prayers were answered, but they didn’t believe it at first. God does answer prayers! We must believe that. It may not always be immediately, but BELIEVE in Jesus Christ. He wants what is best for us.
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  30. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Peter was SLEEPING, knowing the final warning for his life .He was trusting His Lord. The angel had to wake him up because he was peaceful in the middle of the trial. Probably he remembered the times, when he acted in his fears and emotions the caos after that. How the Lord always helped him. Maybe he knew something will happen, or maybe through all the tribulations he had passed, he had learned to trust God. He knew the master, the creator who spoke to the sea to be still. He had the peace of the Lord in his midnight hour. The Lord help us! In Jesus name!

  31. 1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

When bad things happen to good people…what do you do? What do you say? This chapter has been read and preached and made famous for what great thing happens to the apostle Peter. And yes we learn great things about the power of prayer. One could say that we ought to pray until your answer comes knocking at your door. However, we see here at the beginning, another very important detail of fact that we tend to overlook. God is intentional with all that is in the word of God. So he wanted us also to note this.
“And he killed James the brother of John.”
What about James right? We go on to see the miraculous deliverance of Peter but what about the other man of God? What did he do wrong? The answer is nothing. The answer is he did and followed the will of God and proclaimed the truth of the gospel yet his end was with the sword. I believe that, perhaps not the answer we might want, but rather some clarity is given by the other apostles like Paul, and John and Peter himself.

First the apostle Paul lived his converted life to make known the name of Jesus and the good news of the gospel. And endured hardships and said that not only was he ready to suffer but to die for the gospels sake. In his words, “to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

John on the book of Revelation writes
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
    Revelation 12:11 KJV

And they loved not their lives unto death…

And Peter knowing what had happened to James. Knowing that he was captured and that perhaps his fate was gonna be that of his fellow brother in the faith. With all the peace the word says that he slept in between the guards. He did not fear this world or the people of this world. Could I, or you have this kinda faith and trust in God?

Yes we can name others like Stephen and many other men and women of faith that have also lost their lives. The thing is that our focus should be to want to be with Him in glory. And know that the Lord is still sovereign and is still King of all and is still God. Yes the loss of someone we care about can and will hurt us. Yet with that same urgency we should communicate to everyone that will hear and receive this message of salvation.

No one has tomorrow guaranteed for we do not know when our hour will come. And for that reason we cannot waste a day given to us in life.

To all the wonderful men and women of God. To those who have gone before, or maybe too soon from us. May your reward and example of living for God be forever a blessing. Thank you. Thank you for showing is that life is Christ is the best life despite all….

  32. “Peter finally came to his senses. “It’s really true!” he said. “The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me!””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The places of where we put ourselves in or the trials we go through we won’t believe it but God can and will save us! I think it is time that as the Lords children as his church we should be going out sharing our testimonies, many of us were saved so wonderfully and we shouldn’t be ashamed of our past because God saved us from it! There are many lost souls in this world many thinking they cannot be saved from where they are, but that’s where we come in we give them hope and put Gods light in them show them and tell them God can save us from all! I pray tonight that we do the works of God, and that we go out in this world sharing his word and how he can save them like he did you. Spread the Good news of the Lord.

  33. “And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The victory belongs to Jesus. It may seem as though the enemy has it but he doesn’t. It belongs to Jesus always! Don’t worry of what it looks like. Just state the facts. The victory belongs to Jesus!

  34. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

  35. 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

We can not get God confused with this world. This world is not of God. He deserves all of our worship, and praise. Sometimes we may not realize it but anything we put before God is an idol. We should not give this world attention cause it will start to reflect on us as Christians. I pray tonight that we are reflecting His word not others!!!

  36. “Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭12:23‬ ‭NLT

People’s praises will fail you. Getting praised by society may feel good but doesn’t benefit God nor you. It causes us to seek praises then to give praises. Herod was lead by the praises of people which lead him to his death. I pray as a young person that I will seek God and praise him for the promises and blessing, and pray that I may not get consume by praises.

  37. “All the time that Peter was under heavy guard in the jailhouse, the church prayed for him most strenuously.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:5‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This Scripture means that, A Praying Church was Intercedding for One Of It’s members who was captive by the enemy.

  38. “Peter finally came to his senses. “It’s really true!” he said. “The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me!””
Acts of the Apostles 12:11 NLT

God always makes a way when there is no way. He will never leave us nor forsake the righteous. Trust in Lord with all your heart and might. He is for you.

  39. “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Things happen when we call on his name. This is why we must seek first the kingdom of god in all that we do: anything can happen but only with the name JESUS! Always go to him first before doing anything. He is our way maker, prince of peace, bright and morning star, but we have to seek him first and keep Jesus at the center of it all.

  40. “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So thankful for a praying church. How many more people are locked in a prison of sin or hurts. And we as the church could step in and pray for their deliverance.

  41. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Every knee shall bow to JESUS.
    There is one Lord
Jesus is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords
    He is a Jealous God…

  42. 1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

Christians are being killed at this point, and we think ourselves myrters when we get ridiculed by others, because we don’t go to ball games…

  43. “And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished. But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:14-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sometimes when things happen that you have been praying for, you might not respond correctly. You might be like Peter and think itt try s a dream. You might be like Rhoda and get so excited that you share forget the reason your so happy to begin with.

  44. 9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

Peter thought he was dreaming though out this situation.

I love teaching this story. When teaching I love to put emphasis on the fact that Rhonda left Peter at the gate. I have taught it a few different ways with the gate or the door, depending on translation. But when teaching it cracks me up that she legitimately was so excited that she leaves him or “slams the door in his face” to go tell everyone, leaving Peter alone.

14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

  45. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

What a warning to admonish the people to be very careful who you set up to be the voice of God in your life! Not every voice we hear will be sent by God, even if the majority of the people follow, find out first if the true word of God is being spoken.

  46. 9So Peter left the cell, following the angel. But all the time he thought it was a vision. He didn’t realize it was actually happening. 10They passed the first and second guard posts and came to the iron gate leading to the city, and this opened for them all by itself. So they passed through and started walking down the street, and then the angel suddenly left him.

Peter thought his escape was a dream. We all have those dreams that feel so real, but then we wake up. With God, we don’t have to dream about our blessings, goals, ministry or healings. God’s vision is for you to be successful in all you have, your responsibilities, and things you over see.
