Acts 13

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.

10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.

18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.

20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.

21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

23 Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

30 But God raised him from the dead:

31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

  1. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

Men are damned by their own choices and not by act of God. If all mankind receive what is its just due, then all would be lost. But god in Grace stoops down and saves some.

  2. Verses 7-11 MSG “The governor invited Barnabas and Saul in, wanting to hear God’s Word firsthand from them. But Dr. Know-It-All (that’s the wizard’s name in plain English) stirred up a ruckus, trying to divert the governor from becoming a believer. But Saul (or Paul), full of the Holy Spirit and looking him straight in the eye, said, “You bag of wind, you parody of a devil—why, you stay up nights inventing schemes to cheat people out of God. But now you’ve come up against God himself, and your game is up. You’re about to go blind—no sunlight for you for a good long stretch.” He was plunged immediately into a shadowy mist and stumbled around, begging people to take his hand and show him the way.” Also verses 44-45 MSG say “When the next Sabbath came around, practically the whole city showed up to hear the Word of God. Some of the Jews, seeing the crowds, went wild with jealousy and tore into Paul, contradicting everything he was saying, making an ugly scene.” When others try to distract you away from or try to cause a ruckus/ugly scene, we have to call them out and send them packing. We cannot back down; but, rather stand our ground like these disciples as the wildfire is just about to get its spark! LIVE-GIVE JESUS².

  3. 45. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

    51. But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

    52. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

Advancement and favor of God brings talk and envy, but don’t let that steal your joy or your Holy Ghost; keep doing what is right and leave the nay-sayers in the dust behind you.

I got joy in my soul
    God is in control
I got satan on my trail
But I’m singing all is well
    He’s attacking every day
But I’m watching while I pray
    No matter the attack
    I won’t turn back

    This means war

    You can’t have my family
    You can’t have my increase
    You can’t have my breakthough
    You can’t have my joy

  4. 22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

This might sound irrelevant but when I read the verse above the one thing that hit me like a ton of bricks was “a man after mine own heart”. What will happen if we start being, thinking, working, praying, travailing, with a heart after God’s own heart??? I tell you what will happen MIRACLES, SIGNS, AND WONDERS!!!!! Let’s exercise to have a heart after God’s own heart, let’s want what He wants, let’s do what He does, let’s move like He moves!!!! LETS LIVE JESUS SO WE CAN GIVE JESUS!

  5. Acts 13:5

And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

Wherever their feet took them they shared the gospel. The Lord has even said how beautiful are the feet of those that share the good news. Today I ask the Lord to lead my footsteps to someone hurting, to someone addicted, to someone in need of prayer. When he does I WILL share HIS word and his mighty works and God will touch their hearts.
That’s what it’s all about we got impact lives.

  6. 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

This entire chapter is filled with anticipation at what God was getting ready to do ! It begins though with prayer and fasting and the laying on of hands . Fully equipped for the Work God wanted to complete.
Opposition was met yet they still spoke boldly with Spiritual authority. I am so thankful for the pages of God’s Word filled with strength and knowing that we too can experience what God wants to do today throughout this world but more so where we reside . Fort Worth is filled with many opportunities to minister and bring in those waiting and wanting the joy of the Holy Ghost . We the people are being fully equipped and empowered during these next days of prayers and fasting and each message being proclaimed . We can take our city for the Kingdom
Of God. Awe opposition comes yet we must remain bold and courageous in the Holy Ghost.

  7. 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.
10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

This is the Holy Ghost boldness that the church needs to have. Not only are there people out there seeking to understand the gospel but there are people that stand the way and want to prevent others from hearing the gospel. Our job as ministers, as we are all called to serve, is to not just teach the word of God to those wanting to hear it but to help remove obstacles. Most people are not aware of what’s in front of them that prevent them from hearing truth, they are distracted and it takes that Holy Ghost to discern what’s there and to call it out. Most of these things are principalities and spirits that we must go to in prayer for the Lost, but sometimes it’s people. Either way and whether it’s principalities or people who stand in the way of the gospel, it is our job to go to God In prayer and help that person receive the Gospel

  8. Acts 13: 50-51 But the Jews stirred up devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their borders.
    (51) But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.
    (52) And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Spirit.
The Jews oppose Paul who turns to the Gentiles.
Here the unbelieving Jews didn’t want Paul and Barnabas to preach the Gospel first so they stirred up alot of trouble.
No matter what may come against us always put God first before anything else.
No matter what come our way keep serving the Lord.
Ps 29: 11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless the people with people.
Wow what a mighty God we serve.
The Lord is my strength and my sheild; my heart and trust , and with my song I will praise him forever.
    Live Jesus to Give Jesus.

  9. 47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

There’s always going to be people who don’t like you or what you’re doing – just keep going! The Lord’s hand and favor is upon you. All we gotta do is shake it off and keep going. Serving the Lord is the best joy there is!

  10. 52 and the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Ghost.
    ——
    Hallelujah 🙌.
Regardless of what happens, wether they believe or not
Accept it( the gospel) or not…
My joy and the in filling of the Holy Ghost in my life
    Must be noticed.
Speak, if they take it, good
If they don’t , shake it off
    And move on!!!

  11. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

God has a lot He’s going to do in these last days. If people in His Body are not willing to be laborers than He will bring in people off the streets that are! God will pass o er us if were not willing to move and work in the Kingdom! Let’s get to work! Hallelujah!!

  12. 2 “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.””

Acts 9:15 “But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.”
    ‭‭

  13. Always always always there are obstacles to keep people from hearing the word, straight from God Almighty. Someone or something will always get in between and hinder ther word going forth. That’s why we as believers of the truth help others to keep on keeping on. Always going to be opposition and always hindrance. But God never stops waiting and watching for us and when we reach out to him he grabs us and embraces us and we are forever in remembrance of his loyalty. LiveJesusGiveJesus2

  14. “Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: but he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:35-37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s in front of your face. So many false doctrines are streaming to know the way but continue to neglect the scriptures that God have put in writing so plainly. Just like the Jews back then, some “Christians” continue to reject the name of JESUS.

show your strength in Jesus name.

44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

I see this in Fort Worth, TX! As The POFW is faithful to speak the WORD of GOD we will witness on Sunday almost the whole city coming together to hear the Word of GOD.

As we the church speak of the wonderful things of GOD and How Excellent the Name of the LORD is to us. I believe JESUS will attract and Gather the lost who have hungry hearts and a desire to be saved in JESUS Name.

  16. Acts 13:51,52 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Luke 9:5 And whosoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

Matthew 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Keep preaching and teaching our City !
    Live Jesus! Give Jesus!

  17. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

There is always going to be those people who will never accept something that they can not understand. They will try and not be able to comprehend the ways of God because of the sin that they hang onto. There will be many that will rise up among us and try to pervert the principles of the word of God and convince many that they do not need to be saved. But our job is easy because all we have to do is live Jesus so that when the opportunity presents it self we can give them something they never experienced before. So when we are witnesses for Jesus, we will do great things for the kingdom of God and we will reap a harvest of souls. We have to be bold enough to make the stand and raise
Our voices to the world that Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It’s time not to be silent. As the scripture states that we have to preach it from the roof tops and have the boldness to preach the word.

It’s drawing near, the coming of Jesus and we are running out of time. We have to use what time we have left wisely and reach as many as we can.

  18. iLove the Kingdom of Fire2
There’s a couple important details here I reckon I never paid attention to before. One is the fact the Holy Ghost said to, “Separate Barnabas and Saul”. Notice the Holy Ghost didn’t say, “separate Barnabas, Saul, and John”. Why is this important, well, look at verse 13.

Act 13:13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

You see in verse 13, John Mark departed from them and returned to Jerusalem. This, in the future, would lead to a huge argument and division between Paul and Barnabas in the future.

Act 15:37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
Act 15:38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

    Conclusion-
As we can see by this chain of events that would unfold, even the Apostles were not perfect in everything they did. They ended up taking John Mark with them when he was not yet ready to go. Paul would then have a major issue with John Mark all the way until the end when he finally received him back as a friend and called for him to help him while he was in prison.

  19. “For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, That thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:47-49‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Salvation has come to all humanity. To ALL. It’s so sad to see many walk away from a merciful GOD. I cannot force anyone to accept and live for the LORD JESUS, it must be in the heart of man.

We must continue like Barnabas and Saul to continue in our father’s business and deliver the gospel in our region. Minister in love, compassion, and with boldness!
“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:6‬ ‭KJV

  20. 52 “And the believers13:52 Greek the disciples. were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.” NLT

When you receive the gift of the HG, it comes with so much more! Joy, peace, and strength! Who are we to keep such good news to ourselves!

  21. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

As carefully as the disciples taught how Jesus was their Messiah, they rejected it all because of envy. Their pride caused them to reject the truth. But thank God many that day were glad to hear the gospel and were converted. We can’t allow anyone to discourage us as we teach-just move on to the next person God sends your way. But pray that at least a seed was planted and that God will water it and bring the one who rejected it to salvation at another time. Some need time to search the word to see if we are teaching the truth.

  22. 50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

Don’t let small things stand in the way of what God has purposed you to do. All of us get so sidetracked at times by the small things, and no persecution is not necessarily a small thing, but it can cause us to lose our focus. If we can just keep our eyes on the mission of reaching the lost and not allow things family, friends, peers do to us, or say about us, we can achieve the goal of reaching the world. Not everyone is going to understand all we do, and people tend to criticize what they don’t understand.

Let’s make it our mission to please Jesus, because in the end that is all that matters.

  23. Acts of the Apostles 13:38
Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins.

    Hebrews 9:22
In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.

    Ephesians 1:7
He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

Thank you Jesus for forgiveness of sins. You are worthy of all praise

  24. 1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

Some are sent, and some just went.

People are strange. People have such a hard time with the messenger rather than the message, because maybe the messenger doesn’t bend it to what they want to hear. Just look, so many church hoppers, and church splits. Many of the splits start right back up, near the first, and although the people were besties beforehand, rarely speak now.

We as Christians have to the sound of reason, keeping The Word, and doing as it says, without compromise…

  25. Acts Chapter 13

Reading this chapter I see that which we will see in the future days that the Gospel will be preached and many will come to Jesus but we will have opposition to the message. This will not change until Jesus arrives on earth. Do not be troubled for there must be a separation of the sheep and the goats, the wheat and the chaff. We are called to Live Jesus and to give Jesus with Joy. That is our calling and joy.

  26. 3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

Whenever we pray for directions from for our lives we must be prepared at any moment to move and go where the lord tell us to go and do the things he tells us to do, in the end we do not want to end up like Jonah where god has to put things in our way to get our attention and make us realize what we’re doing and we must always put obedience to his voice and commands first before anything else.

  27. 44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

    The WHOLE city!

I believe we can see this not only in Fort Worth but in cities all across the nation! People will once again gather for the purpose of hearing His word go forth!

They will not only come on Easter and Christmas, but every service will be full!

  28. 46Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, “It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles. 47For the Lord gave us this command when he said,
‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.

Not every one will believe in Jesus, that he resurrected. Many will reject God, but we must do our part and continue to spread his Word. Tell others about God. Saving one soul is worth your time and energy. Don’t be discourage when someone rejects you when speaking about Jesus.

  29. “But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:51-52‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the break between verse 3 and 4 is the title “First Missionary Journey” and as we read and get to the end we see Barnabas and Paul rejected. One of the first recorded missionary efforts and they were thrown out of the city! But Barnabas and Paul were not discouraged. They dusted off their feet, got full of joy and the Holy Ghost and continued to serve. I pray we have that tenacious mindset – no matter what happens we continue spreading the gospel, filled with the Holy Ghost and joy!

  30. Acts 13:15, 23, 26, & 38-39
    15) And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any WORD Of EXHORTATION for the people, say on.

    23) Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, JESUS:

    26) Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and “WHOSOEVER” among you feareth God, to you is the WORD Of This SALVATION sent.

    38) Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through This Man is preached unto you the Forgiveness Of Sins:
    39) And by Him all that Believe are Justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

    “WORD Of EXHORTATION”
What Words of Exhortation! What Words of Encouragement!
To know that God kept His promise, through the seed of David, to raise up a Saviour, JESUS; and that this Word of Salvation is for us, Whosoever, for everyone; and when we Believe, we can have Forgiveness of Sins and be Justified from all things.

Thank You JESUS!! YOU are the SAVIOR of the world!!

  31. “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You can’t really say “yes” to God’s call on your life until you can say “no” to things that will keep you from that call.

  32. 38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
    40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

Jesus is the only way for salvation and the highway to heaven. For no one can be forgiven for their sins only through Jesus and be baptized in Jesus name.

  33. Acts 13

49 The word of the Lord spread through the whole region.

50 But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing woman of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.

51 So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium.

52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

As back in the days of Paul, there will be people rejecting Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The enemy was there then and here now. This is why we must be persistant in bringing the lost to our church. We will be rejected at times, but we must be like Paul and Barnaabs, and be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit!

  34. 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Ministering to others through prayer is powerful, however prayer becomes more dynamic with fasting.

  35. 47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
Thank you Lord for this gift, your salvation

  36. 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

Something happens when the word of God goes forth. Those that believe will be elevated to a higher level. God’s word can take us further than we can eve imagine. It can set us free from ourselves. When we hear the word of we should rejoice for the truth. Don’t let the things of this world bring you down or take you away from what God has for you. The more we grow in God, the stronger we become.

  37. “The following week almost the entire city turned out to hear them preach the word of the Lord. But when some of the Jews saw the crowds, they were jealous; so they slandered Paul and argued against whatever he said.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭13:44-45‬ ‭NLT‬‬

See we can go out and preach the word of God every day to many crowds, but let us not be surprised that within those people we speak it to that they will not receive it or believe it. But it doesn’t matter because they are still hearing it, and within those there will be many listening and many willing to go to the Lord. I pray that we don’t give up on those not believing, I pray that we say Gods word to them no matter what, cause God can do a miracle and they will come back. Let us do the work of God daily, and help plant those seeds in this world.

  38. 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

Do you see how fasting and praying worked hand in hand with laying of hands and working in the Holy Ghost. You want to be used, fast and pray! James 2:18 says, “. . . For as the body without the spirit is dead , so faith without works is dead . . .” You can have faith to lay hands in the Holy Ghost, but without works (praying and fasting) falls flat. We must put forth the works to prove ourselves.

Some people get so frustrated and bent out of shape with change! You would think that the Jews would have been happy that salvation was extended past just themselves to more people and that other nationalities would also have the chance at salvation. However, instead they were bitter and spoke out against it. “. . . Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, . . .” Why??

  39. 47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us:

“‘I have made you[a] a light for the Gentiles,
that you[b] may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’[c]”

God is using us to be a light unto the people of this earth, He has called us by name, even if you face rejection on showing someone who He is, don’t stop telling people about Him, “we won’t stop ‘til the whole world knows”

  40. “When the non-Jewish outsiders heard this, they could hardly believe their good fortune. All who were marked out for real life put their trust in God—they honored God’s Word by receiving that life. And this Message of salvation spread like wildfire all through the region.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:48-49‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This Scripture means that, Salvation is given to Everyone and It doesn’t matter Who You Are

  41. 26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

  42. And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

Grateful and full of thanks we should be every day we wake. For we are granted the blessing of waking up alive. Even more so grateful we should be for this great salvation. That the Lord loved us as well to extend this salvation to the gentiles. May we never loose the wonder and may we always be thankful for such salvation. And if at one point we see ourselves losing that joy. May we say like the king David said, return to me oh Lord the joy of thy salvation.

  43. 2 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

David chased to closely after the heart of God that God knew that David would do His will. Will and did David make mistakes? Yes, but David’s heart was humble enough to repent and David was man enough to surrender His will fit the will of God. Let us find joy in God and chase after Him as David did.

  44. 12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

The sorcerer thought he could sway the deputy and cause and uproar against Paul and those with him. Paul was full of the Holy Ghost and able to discern the wickedness the sorcerer served. Blinding the sorcerer ultimately put a stop to his nasty plan and made a fool out him and his false god. Two birds, One God! The deputy got to witness this first hand and believed with astonishment. No level of sorcery the wizard could contour up could have compared to the power and glory of our God.

In fact before the devil can do anything if has to be allowed by God. Nothing happens without Gods knowledge. Such things could be used for lessons, witnessing/ testimonies, building faith, character and strength etc.
In this case God’s judgement passed to blind the sorcerer for a period of time was to prove a point. God was the One True God and sorcery or evil ways were being used to pull people of influence or law enforcement to turn against the church. God could have blinded him forever. The sorcerer still has a chance to repent. If Paul can change then anybody like us can too if we make it up in our minds.

  45. “But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:51-52‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There will be times where people aren’t going to agree with what you are saying and try to bring you down, but you serve a god that is mighty and able. Don’t give up but hold on to the faith god has given you and continue to do the will of god and watch him move.

  46. 50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

No matter how great you become, theirs going to be haters. The higher God takes you, the bigger the target on your back. This is why the word says think it not strange when you fall into divers temptations. This is the common sense about living for God. You as re going to face stuff but because you are in the hands of God, it’s all going to be alright. Let people say what their going to say. Then be still and know that He is God.

  47. ““Brothers—you sons of Abraham, and also you God-fearing Gentiles—this message of salvation has been sent to us! The people in Jerusalem and their leaders did not recognize Jesus as the one the prophets had spoken about. Instead, they condemned him, and in doing this they fulfilled the prophets’ words that are read every Sabbath.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭13:26-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Will we recognize Jesus? As Christian we build a relationship with Jesus. To have a relationship with Jesus you need to know him! Pray, read and love to know Jesus.

  48. “As Paul and Barnabas left the synagogue that day, the people begged them to speak about these things again the next week.”
Acts of the Apostles 13:42 NLT

Paul and Barnabas did the will of God preaching to the people and the people wanted to hear more about the Lord. Let faith arise in us to preach to the people that hungry for more God and that God will cover person with the Holy Ghost.

  49. 4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

GOD IS GREAT AND MIGHTY!!! They sailed and that to me was enough!!! I can’t imagine how they could do this on a normal day. It was their way of transportation and I just can’t see that . I think I would’ve lost my mind!!!

  50. “But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:8, 12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This man who is called all kinds of bad things in the scripture was trying to dissuade the deputy from the faith, but it didn’t work. When the deputy saw what happened at the hand of the man of God he was brought closer to Jesus. We may not always understand what’s going on, but sometimes people are ugly to us when God is working it out for the good.
