Acts Chapter 14 – FIRE2 – 14/40

Day 14: Acts Ch.14. In Chapter 14, we see how fickle a crowd can be. First  they believe Paul and Barnabas to be gods, then they nearly stone Paul to death a few days later. Yet, they continued to do the work of the Lord, while strengthening the disciples and encouraged them to remain true to the Faith. Pray that we might be faithful in the midst of hard times just as the disciples were. Pray for the church to become strengthened by each other and to encourage others to remain in the Faith.

Acts 14

And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

And there they preached the gospel.

And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:

The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

24 And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

28 And there they abode long time with the disciples.

  1. 21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

It was not what they had done for God, but what He had been pleased to accomplish through them.

  2. Verse 2 MSG “But the unbelieving Jews worked up a whispering campaign against Paul and Barnabas, sowing mistrust and suspicion in the minds of the people in the street.” We must be very careful what we speak and the manner in which we do it. We cannot allow others opinions of someone, whom we may not even give the time of day, because of someone else’s words or thoughts about them. I saw a shirt last weekend that said “We rise by lifting others”. We must encourage one another, as this will only strengthen us as we continue in the faith. Let us LIVE-GIVE JESUS² together in unity as we spread the Good News.

  3. 2. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

    20. Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

Don’t let others make your mind evil affected against your brethren; instead, gather around them and help them rise up and continue in the Faith.

  4. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Nobody said it was gonna be a walk in the park on your way to heaven.
There’s an old song my papaw used to sing it goes like this “I’ve been on my way to heaven for a long long time, many things have happened that’s clouded up my mind, but I am more determined to walk this narrow way, I’ve got more to go to heaven for than i had yesterday”
I didn’t realize how accurate that song was until I was filled with the Holy Ghost and this scripture backs it up. We’ve got to stay the course and we can’t let ourselves get persuaded in any way to stray away. We fall we get back up. You can either be a Peter and when you feel as if you failed God you get back up repent and be mightily used of Hod or you can be a Judas and let your failures drive you to insanity and death. Be a Peter today arise from the ashes and keep moving forward.

  5. 26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

28 And there they abode long time with the disciples.

Just as the disciples were busy spreading the Gospel unto every city and instructing others in the manners concerning Salvation and baptism in Jesus Name; we must also be about the business of the Gospel in these last days. Why wouldn’t we want to share the Truth to all those that are lost amidst all the chaos that it is around us?

    Acts 26:16 & 18

    16. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

    18. To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

  6. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Sometimes we will endure hard times. We have to remember to keep our eyes on Jesus, and please Him above all else. Nothing else matters, we just need to stay the course and make it into the Kingdom of God.

  7. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
28 And there they abode long time with the disciples.

There are times to get your feet and hands dirty doing the work of God, there are seasons where you must plant and work every single day to prepare for the harvest but in here, this verse, we see that the Church of God not only traveled and preached but they also came together to reflect on what God had done. They rejoice with one another and talked about what God did and how he opened up the gospel to the gentiles.

  8. Finally, they returned by ship to Antioch of Syria, where their journey had begun. The believers there had entrusted them to the grace of God to do the work they had now completed. Upon arriving in Antioch, they called the church together and reported everything God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles, too.

I always love hearing stories from missionaries when they come home. It strengthens the church to hear what God is doing in other parts of the world. So blessed. Thank you, God, for people who answer Your call to leave everything behind and preach Your Gospel. My God is awesome!

  9. Acts 14: 22-23 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
    (23) And when they had ordained elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
Romans 10: 11 For the scripture saith, Whoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans 10: 17 So, then, faith cometh by hearing by the Word of God.
This scripture sounds like 40 days of Fire.
Every soul matters be a witness for Jesus and encourage people and love them and be there for them.
    All we need is Jesus.

  10. Acts 14:22, “Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”

    “Continue In The Faith”
Why? because it is through much tribulation (trouble, suffering, affliction, trial, hardship, difficulty, etc…) we will enter the kingdom of God.
Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:12, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution (oppression, mistreatment, discrimination, punishment, harassment, teasing, bullying, etc…).”
This is why we must “Continue In The Faith” we have in God. Faith In God is Believing, Trusting, having Confidence In, Relying On, and Leaning On Him through everything we go through in this life. We must stay Grounded, Settled, and Unmovable in our Faith In God (Col. 1:23). Our Faith In God is what is going to see us through our tribulation and persecution.

So be Exhorted and Encouraged today to “Continue In The Faith.”
Your Faith In God is what is going to see you through to the end – Entering into the Kingdom of God.

  11. ACTS 14:2 NKJV “But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren.”
    ‭‭
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. Don’t let others thoughts and opinions influence what you believe. Learn God’s Word then make up your own mind.

  12. LiveJesusGiveJesus2 Ilove POFW!….. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren. …..we must keep our minds guarded against unbelief. We dont need to discuss it, analyze it or try to figure it out!

  13. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Could this have been Testimony Time ?
Sharing what God has done for us .
The world needs to hear of the goodness of God and the miraculous things He has done and is doing !
This truly opens doors of faith for those needing Tom know there truly is a God that can do Anything!

  14. How long have I been with you?

“They decided that Barnabas was the Greek god Zeus and that Paul was Hermes, since he was the chief speaker.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭14:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

After all these signs and wonders idols and fake gods is all that you could come up with ? Have you not read the scrolls yourself? The scriptures is prophetic. It explains that Jesus will come and do these works. But some people are so blinded and carnal that they would rather reference Zeus then God.

Jesus let this world be open up to you. Show your strength let them know who you are!!

  15. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

When we gather, it’s easy to talk about the negative things life has handed us this week.

Why don’t we challenge ourselves and talk about the goodness of the Lord!

  16. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
“How do you go from hero to zero so fast?”

And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them. 19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

In verse 18 Paul and Silas were heroes. In verse 19 they are zeros. How do you go from being worshiped in one verse and the next being killed? From one extreme to the next. Lord help us endure the good times and the bad.

  17. Aun siendo el senor con nosotros dandonos todo lo necesario para continuar esparciendo su palabra y testimonio no lo hacemos que tristeza saber que todos queremos el beneficio mas no al benefactor

  18. “And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭14:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is still going on today. Satan never changes. He planted a question in Eve’s mind, and that has been his plan from the beginning. Faith and doubt are opposites. If you have doubt, you do not have faith. You can see how it would be easy to sway the thinking of a new convert, and that is just what this is saying .

  19. 19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned

This was no small miracle that Paul survived this stoning and continued his commission. No doubt the men standing around him were praying and God raised him up. He did not require hospitalization for concussion because when God heals, it is complete. Paul had more to do and it was God’s will for him to continue.
Also it is worthy to note how the lame man had faith to be healed. If we lack faith, we can pray the Lord to increase our faith and help our unbelief.

  20. “Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭14:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul and Barnabas were driven out of cities, lied on, beaten, plotted to be killed, Paul was stoned almost to death – and yet they still preached the gospel. And even after all that rejection they went back to the places that wanted to kill them! All that to say, there is no shame in going back to our loved ones, our friends, and yes even our enemies multiple times to talk with them about Jesus. Rejection is not an excuse for us to quit. Paul and Barnabas may have stopped and moved on to a new area, but they did not quit.

“Quitting is an act of desperation. Stopping is an act of preservation.”

  21. “confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭14:22‬ ‭KJV

It is true that through much tribulations we must enter the Kingdom of GOD. No one ever said it will be easy to enter the narrow road. It’s only through Jesus Christ we endure such pain, disappointments, heartache, restless nights, etc. This is what makes the difference in an individual living for Jesus. We know that as we keep our eyes on Jesus…He is the author and finisher of our faith.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭KJV

“I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭AMP

  22. Acts of the Apostles 14:8,9,10

[8]While they were at Lystra, Paul and Barnabas came upon a man with crippled feet. He had been that way from birth, so he had never walked. He was sitting
[9]and listening as Paul preached. Looking straight at him, Paul realized he had faith to be healed.
[10]So Paul called to him in a loud voice, “Stand up!” And the man jumped to his feet and started walking.

Have faith. Jesus is our healer, miracle worker and waymaker. By his stripes we are healed.
    Thank you Jesus

    THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL

7 And there they preached the gospel.
8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:
9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

For centuries scientists and physicians have studied, practiced and performed procedures to bring the physical and mental body back to health. While I am thankful for these professionals, as an Apostolic believer in JESUS. I see another path to healing.

    The Gospel of JESUS!

We Preach the GOSPEL (Good News) of JESUS and HE affirms HIS goodness to others through the proclamation of HIS Love, Power and Authority. Preaching the Gospels causes others to have FAITH to be Healed.

  24. Acts 14:22 Confirming (strengthening)the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

    We must encourage each other
Acts 11:23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorting them all, that with purpose of a heart they would continue with the Lord.

Luke 22:28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations/trials.

Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, a God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

  25. 1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

Isn’t it funny how there will always be someone that will be angry at the work of God. It amazes me to read this scripture every time that the Jews had the opportunity to receive their messiah but instead crucified Jesus. When the word of God goes forth the church will have to battle the bay-sayers and unbelievers. We will have to battle the obstacles of doubt and fear. But the great thing is when we are full of the Holy Ghost and power, we will be able to stand against the wiles of the devil and be victorious in saving those that need to be filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in the name of Jesus.

We have to be mentally prepared, spiritually prepared, and physically prepared. Because greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. No weapon formed against us will prosper. So don’t be afraid and let’s push forward the word of God.

  26. 26 From there they sailed back to [e]Antioch, where they had been entrusted to the grace of God for the [f]work which they had now completed. 27 Arriving there, they gathered the church together and began to report [in great detail] everything that God had done with them and how He had opened to the Gentiles a door of faith [in Jesus as the Messiah and Savior]. 28 And they stayed there a long time with the disciples.

What great news they had to share about how God opened up truth to the Gentiles and how they accepted it and had great revival.

Good news travels fast. If we will just share what Jesus is doing – the “good news”, share the salvation that has come to our lives – the “good news” – the Spirit of God will draw people to see what the “good news” is all about.

It’s up to us to tell, it’s up to God to give the increase.

  27. 22 “Where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.” NLT

As we come together as a body, we are not only encouraging each other, but we are also able to witness the various stages of walks with God, life paths, and choices being made. I don’t believe this is to force you to be like someone else, or follow exactly in someone else’s footsteps but rather a reminder that we are all individually made. We are all going to face our own hardships, but never alone.

We are strengthened together! I pray we each take sometime to encourage and strengthen someone today!

  28. Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of Faith.
Faith, Faith, Faith, just a littel bit of Faith.
You don’t need a whole lot,
    Just use what ya got,
Faith, Faith, Faith, just a little bit of faith.

9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

Faith, who has it all figured out?
Do I or do we need faith to be healed?
What if our faith is weak, or non-existent?
What if we fluctuate between faith and doubt, can we still be healed?
What part does our faith play in praying for the sick?

I believe some believe God is able to heal, the problem of unbelief usually is whether He is willing to heal. Sometimes we proclaim faith when all that is happening is an attempt to create some kind of psychological certainty. Instead of pumping ourselves up emotionally with a lot of positive thinking, remember that faith is an activity of the mind, heart and soul. We must learn the Lord will heal us, not because we have pumped ourselves up, nor because we’ve got our mind correct, but because he is gracious, compassionate, and willing to take care to His children whom He loves!

In the past, I have felt forced into the position of being responsible whether God heals someone or not. I felt that the pressure was on me, and ultimately the blame is mine if they are not healed. This was not fair. Rather, I must understand God’s goodness and willingness to heal. Mark 9:24 …”I do believe; help my unbelief.” God is full of grace and mercy! God may heal sovereignly, in spite of our unbelief. Again, it is due to His gracious love and mercy!

  29. Acts Chapter 14

26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Let us fulfill the callings we have been given. He given us grace and peace to walk out our callings. For our callings and election are made sure. 2Pe 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

The 27 verse talks of their testimony. We to will have a testimony as we fulfill our callings, Those testimonies will be used for the glory of Jesus which will be used to help bring others to Jesus. Amen

  30. 2Some of the Jews, however, spurned God’s message and poisoned the minds of the Gentiles against Paul and Barnabas.

Yes, we must guard against those who interpret the Word differently. Who may try to convince you, the Word is saying something else. We must know the Word, or atleast be familiar with it, so no one can deceive you. We must also search/read the Word, to know it, and be prepared to counter when confronted.

  31. 14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

We must all turn from the wicked way of the world and serve the Lord Jesus Christ and to teach others the law of the living God. That we may save souls from the pits of hell.

  32. “And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

They gathered on one accord and talked about all that god had done. They could have complained about what didn’t happened and how long it took for it to happen but they instead reflected on all that the god had done. It is so easy to focus on the bad things and complain but what can happen if we change our way of thinking and give god praise for the things he has done as well as the things he hasn’t done.

  33. “Upon arriving in Antioch, they called the church together and reported everything God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles, too.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We go through so many ups and downs in life, and many have trouble focusing on the good because they are to focused on the bad things happening or that have already happened. God has done so much for us, I pray that we take time to realize all that he has done for us. The Lord is the one who brings us to victory over all our battles, the one who fills us with peace, joy, and comfort. Yes we go through a lot in life, but realize that God will get you through it all and help you rise up. I pray we give thanks unto the Lord and praise for all the goodness that he has done for us! Spread the goodness of the Lord!

  34. 3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

God confirms his word and who he is through his miracles and wonders. With all that people still doubt and reject this gospel.

  35. v3

Jesus fulfilled the promise to grant signs following the believers and He validated the ministry of the early church .
HE has never stopped being God, and the working of miracles is just business as usual for Him.
HE will respond to our faith and needs.

  36. 7 And there they preached the gospel.

Preaching the gospel it what is going to win souls. Too many preachers try to sugar coat the word, but what we really need is for preachers to preach the truth. There is no need to add or take away from God’s word. It has always and will always stand on its own. The word of God is strong and powerful. It has the power to slay every devil in your life.

  37. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
    2 Tim 3:12
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
In Mathew 24 our Lord said that we will suffer persecution.
In this world we have to pass persecution specially if we want to follow the commandments of the Lord. We will be the separated ones, the radicals, etc. Our Lord himself suffered persecution from his own people and the religious leaders. The cause was being Holy and teach the true. Our Lord told us to rust and have faith in Him. I will be with you all the days, until the end. Aleluya!!!

  38. 2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

Unbelievers have long been a stronghold against the furtherance of the Gosple. It behooves Christians to have a few verses of scripture that can directly combat the strategy employed by unbelievers.

  39. 15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

  40. 12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.
13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

  41. 23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

When we are praying and fasting m, this is helping us get in a closer relationship with God. When we pray we are talking to God. When we fast we are sacrificing something in order to keep out the distractions to have our focus on Him.
