Acts Chapter 15 – FIRE2 – 15/40

Day 15:  Acts Ch.15. Disagreements and conflict seem to be the main theme in Chapter 15. As we seek to live in peace and unity with others, we often lose sight of how God can work through challenges and difficulties if we’ll let Him. Pray for the Church to go in God’s love, in grace, and in patience as we address our differences.

Acts 15

And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.

24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

34 Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

  1. 13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

    14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

    Peter had told how the Lord had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles at the first through him. Paul and Barnabas added their testimony as to how the Lord had worked through them in evangelizing the Gentiles. It’s time for the church to get off the pews and go to the streets and play their part be a witness (testify).

  2. 25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

    26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Just like the apostles, the church today needs to assemble together with one accord and to be with like-minded Christians that have hazarded their lives for the name of Jesus Christ. We have to look at the word hazard here it simply means in the Greek:

    paradidōmi
    par-ad-id’-o-mee
    From G3844 and G1325; to surrender, that is, yield up, intrust, transmit: – betray, bring forth, cast, commit, deliver (up), give (over, up), hazard, put in prison, recommend.

    Simply put it is our purpose to surrender ourselves or to intrust our lives to the cause or purpose of Jesus Christ him crucified. We have to make a stand for him and the kingdom. No matter what happens in this world, we have a great opportunity to reach many. Jesus will come as soon as we preach the gospel to every creature in every area of this world. But it is the mentality that regardless who accepts this gospel, we will continue to be the witness we were called to be. We can not stop now because we grow weary, Jesus will be our strength. It’s time to push forward and not labor in vain, because Hid will reward us for all that we do. The church will be victorious through it all.

Verses 8-11 AMP “And God, who knows and understands the heart, testified to them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us; and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith [in Jesus]. Now then, why are you testing God by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we have been able to endure? But we believe that we are saved through the [precious, undeserved] grace of the Lord Jesus [which makes us free of the guilt of sin and grants us eternal life], in just the same way as they are.” These verses remind me of song that says “Bleed the Same”. Galatians 3:28 AMP says “There is [now no distinction in regard to salvation] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you [who believe] are all one in Christ Jesus [no one can claim a spiritual superiority].”

    In the end of the chapter, we also see where division tried to come in within the very men that they had sent to preach and teach the Word of God. We must be careful not to let a difference of opinion or us not getting our own way, get in the way of sharing the Good News. LIVE-GIVE JESUS² with words of courage, hope and put some grit (courage and resolve; strength of character) into each other’s ministry!

  4. 3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

    4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

    Wherever they went they were declaring the works God had been doing. This is Apostolic, being apostolic isn’t just dressing right or fixing your hair right. Some might say it’s sin to wear the hair up some might say it’s sin to wear the hair down but God ain’t worried about all that He wants us out there declaring the great and mighty works he’s doing in our midst. Go Declare his goodness today in Jesus name!

  5. 5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
    6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

    The most dangerous thing the church has ever faced has not been the devil. The greatest threat to the church comes from inside and it is seen through hypocrisy and judgment of others. While I agree that the church needs to be protected from attacks that come on the outside, we specifically need to be alert and protective from inside as well. Nothing turns off someone from coming to Christ more than feeling judged or condemned by the very establishment they are considering. We must learn to love and live the Life of Christ in all manners.

      Time is short, it must happen now.
      Now is the time for salvation.

  6. 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

    It’s by the grace of God we are all able to come before Him and serve Him. Thank You God for grace!

  7. 22. Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the WHOLE CHURCH, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

    25. It seemed good unto us, being assembled with ONE ACCORD, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

    27. We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the SAME THINGS by mouth.

    UNITY
    When the whole church works with one accord towards the same goal and speaks the same things, the spirit of unity breaks down barriers and opens doors for God’s will and the miraculous to be done among us.

  8. Acts 15: 39-40-41 Paul and Silas depart; Barnabas and Mark go to Cypress.
    And the contention was so sharp between them that they departed assunder one from the other; and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus.
    (40) And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being commended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
    (41) And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
    There was alot of Confliction and disagreement going here in this chapter.
    Unity is the key
    Even through this they still preach the gospel.
    Thank you Jesus for your grace and your mercy.

    As I read this I am reminded of some many things. First and foremost the majority of arguments are born out of men made based in cultural and rituals that have NOTHING to do with God and/or salvation. In this verse we observe the discussion of Circumcision, a covenant of Moises and Israel. In reality is a social symbol of obedience that shows a separation from sin and a gift of sacrifice to God. They come to the decision to allow them to follow culture laws that dint need the sacrifice for Jesus has been give and He is the Last lamb, precios, and perfect.
    Today the main discussions always seem to center around the “proper” dress code for church, are they allowing facial hair, are they cutting their hair or keep it with a veil, Etc etc…
    WE CAN NOT PUT SUCH A STUMBLING BLOCK ON A BROTHER OR SISTER!!! Specially if they’re new comers! Educate, teach with love, NEVER EVER CRITICIZE!!! If they ask why you wear a skirt all the time Take them to Deut 22 :5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.:

    When they ask you why you don’t cut your hair you can show them Corinthians 11: 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

    What you SHOULD NOT DO IS SHAME THEM, make it look like if they’re not like us they don’t belong, and NEVER EVER SAY THEYRE SINNING IF THEY DONT CHANGE!!!
    THE CHANGE COMES BY REVELATION OF THEIR GROWTH IN THE HOLY GHOST. It is a type of Circumcision a discarding of flesh and change of heart and soul that only our God Jesus Christ can do. Sorry if I took a female approach but is the only one I know and if I offended anyone with my raw military, right to the point sort of speach, please do forgive me. This is a point that I can debate for hours

  10. Contention caused a separation between the apostles. There was a difference of opinion about certain issues. Could they have continued to work for the Kingdom together? I believe so . God had already poured out his Spirit upon the Gentiles . Too many times we have expect others to rise up as a mature Christian within moments of the new birth. There will be many saved in these last days unlike us they may never confirm to all of the outward appearances we hold on to . Our mission given by God is to share the Gospel of Redemption. Acts 2:38 . We can lead by example and share Biblical principles. Although the apostles rape rates due to their difference of opinions they still continued teaching the lost. We cannot allow anything to distract us from reaching the lost.

    His grace is not earned, it is not deserved. It’s simply by His everlasting love for us.

  12. This chapter spoke of a lot of disagreements and conflicts amongst the apostles, but it also showed how they worked it out without malice. Seek the Lord’s guidance. Work together to accomplish HIS will. Check your feelings at the door. It’s ALL about you Lord!

  14. I’m thankful today that not only is salvation for the Jews but for all men.

    This truth is for the rich and the poor. For those that are sprung out on drugs and to the little kids making straight A’s in school. For men and women. Boys and girls.

    Who in their right mind wants to “tempt” God? This is exactly what Paul is telling the other Apostles and Disciples here. Even today, in 2021 there are people out there trying to teach folks that you have to follow the law of Moses. Yep, I know its hard to believe, but folks will take the scriptures from the Old Testament and convince people that nothing (no customs, traditions, and laws) can be changed from the Old Testament. Well, to keep the laws and traditions from the Old Testament is to tempt God. Not wise

    Never work alone, I witness this in Bus Ministry, develop, strengthen others as you go.

    Acts 16:5 And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

  17. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    CONFLICT CANT STOP REVIVAL

    36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
    37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
    38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
    39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
    40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

    GOD created man in such uniqueness that we are not all alike in attitude, attribute and aspirations. This diversity is what makes the church body so great. We witness early in the church that there was disagreement among the apostles. Rather than divide the church they served in different areas.

    The key to maintaining UNITY and REVIVAL even when contention arose was and still is to stay focused on the goal, the destiny, the purpose of the church. We must reach the lost, preach the Gospel and fulfill the Kingdom purpose of Apostolic demonstration.

    If we find ourselves in conflict let us remember to honor one another and most importantly honor JESUS and remain focused on the lost and those around us that do not know JESUS. In keeping our focus we ensure that we will not be hurdles or obstacles to REVIVAL because even CONFLICT CANT STOP REVIVAL.

  18. 24 Since we have heard that some of our men have troubled you with their teachings, causing distress and confusion—men to whom we gave no such orders or instructions— 25 it has been decided by us, having met together, to select men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 So we have sent Judas and Silas, who will report by word of mouth the same things [that we decided in our meeting]. 28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to place on you any greater burden than these essentials: 29 that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, and from [consuming] blood, and from [eating the meat of] things that have been strangled, and from sexual impurity. If you keep yourselves from these things, you will do well. Farewell.”

    These men was trying to put convictions upon the Gentiles that God had not told them to do. In our own personal relationships with the Lord, He will speak to us about things in our lives, and convict us about things that may not need to be a conviction for others. All of us have struggled in life in different areas, so my conviction may be a stronger holiness matter than what we follow as Leadership at POFW, but that is my conviction and I don’t have the right to invoke that on others. It’s important as a body we all speak and believe the same, so following a covenant of safety and guidelines is very important, but when God speaks to us personally about going the extra mile in something, I don’t have a right to put that conviction others.

  19. Acts of the Apostles 15:8-9
    [8]God knows people’s hearts, and he confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us.
    [9]He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith.

    God is no respecter of persons. He loves us all the same. He did for us that we may have life. Thank you Jesus.

  20. Acts 15:8-9 & 11 (NLT)

    11) We believe that we are all SAVED the same way, by the underserved GRACE of the Lord Jesus.

    “For by GRACE are ye SAVED THROUGH FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)

  21. What does clean mean to you?

    KJV – 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
    MSG -9 He treated the outsiders exactly as he treated us, beginning at the very center of who they were and working from that center outward, cleaning up their lives as they trusted and believed him.

    Not cleaning, but the state of being clean. A cool shower to wash away the sweat of a hot day feels so refreshing. Simple pleasure comes from pulling on a fresh laundry or maybe climbing into clean sheets at bedtime. External freshness cannot compare to the incredible joy of experiencing God’s cleansing in our hearts, minds, and soul. Anything we value more highly than God becomes an idol to us. Idols, evil thoughts, and wrong attitudes contaminate our minds. We can feel trapped by our words and images that popup our minds. We cannot change our thoughts, but God can.

    Sin originates in our hearts; the natural inclination to sin lives inside each of us. Acknowledging this truth is the start of cleaning and allowing God to change from the inside out. Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. When we feel dirty, remember that God doesn’t maintain business hours. He is always open and eager to hear from us.

    Even though they(Jews & Gentiles) had their differences, God did not specify that the Gentiles had to convert to Judaism-he looked on their hearts and saw their desire to be saved and live for Him, and filled them with the Holy Ghost. Salvation is the same for everyone, but the rules of Judaism did not have to passed on. Thank you Jesus!

  23. 7Acts 14
    21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch.

    22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through tribulation enter into the kingdon of God.

    No matter what the situation, we must NEVER give up on God. Jesus is always with us! We just need to have a loving relationship with Him. We are going through trying times, but Jesus died for us, so we must do what we can for our Lord and Savior.

    2 Corinthians 4
    But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so tht his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. 4:7-12

  24. Acts Chapter 15

    It seems as people want to make carbon copies of each other. Yet after the meeting only a few practices were added. Reframe from eating blood and eating meat that was used in idol worship. Eating any thing that was strangled and from fornication. We will never be a carbon copy christen for ever one of us are made different and with gifts and callings that we can not repent for. There is a mandate in the word and that is that they may know us by our love. We are to follow Jesus and the apostles doctrine. We are to be led by Jesus’s Spirit. Jesus gave us the comforter. We are to be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins and receive the baptism of the holy Ghost. What a Joy to be in the family of God.

    How could the disciples witness without fear of persecution? Jesus promised His disciples power in the form of the Holy Spirit. This power enabled them to be His witnesses. Trust in the Lord and He will see you through.

  26. 19“And so my judgment is that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.

    Let’s keep it simple for new converts to know God. Everyone will mature spiritually on their own pace. Little by little we’ll see the new person emerge to God and start serving in the Kingdom.

    God died on the cross so that all nationalities Half forgiveness of sin. Not of cutting flesh but it is through the heart of man.

    When Jesus said “Repent,” He was talking about a change of heart toward sin, the world, and God; an inner change that gives rise to new ways of living that exalt Christ and give evidence of the truth of the gospel.

    Thankful that 24 years ago JESUS CALLED me by my name. A sinner like me. Jesus Christ Himself embraced me with his love at a prayer meeting on a Tuesday night.

    The name of Jesus is above every name.
    We pray, teach, work, and preach ,as the early church did .We rely on the name above every name- Jesus. Without question, the Lord has called us to be witnesses of His name.

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭15:37-40‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    God can redeem good out of evil, yet we are all held accountable for the evil we do, even if God ends up bringing good out of the evil. Either Paul or Barnabas – probably both – had to get this right with God and each other.

  31. 39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

    40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

    41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches

    Even if everyone is not best friends, the Kingdom of God must move forward. Some folks get caught up on clicks or the assumption of a group being a click, and sometimes that is true but most of the time, it’s just folks surrounding themselves with other folks that they can build with and upon. Everyone needs a friend they can talk to about whatever they want without being repeated or judged. We need those who can correct us without getting offended. We must not judge someone’s inert circle because in that circle it gets real. Bro Raymond Woodward preached: Who’s at your table? A wonderful message separating what some would call a click from what I would call strategic table placement.

  32. 37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
    38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
    39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

    So who was right, Paul or Barnabas? I believe they both were correct. Paul teaches us that a worker should show tenacity, and not withdrawal from missionary endeavors. Barnabus teaches us that workers in the mission field are not perfect and durning their growth process they can fulfill a roll in the furtherance of the Kindom.

  33. “And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.”

    God shows a great example of how what we look like doesn’t matter. He doesn’t care the color of our skin our background or anything… but he cares about our souls. I’m the world we live in today there is judgment on your outer self and the color of your skin but as Christians we must be like Christ and show love to everyone because Christ cares about souls . We need to win souls to Christ. In a world that is hurting we are the only light. Let’s allow Christ to live through us and be the light unto this dark world.

  34. 12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

    We live in a world that is so busy that people are often multitasking even when in the middle of conversations. Yet there are hungry people all around us that will give ear to the great things God is doing. We just have to be willing to boldly tell them.

  35. 16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

    17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

    18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
    Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice and put all my sin upon you. Now we are one body not Jews or gentiles but one body in Him! Aleluya!!!

  36. 4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

    We as the people of God do not need to be afraid to declare the works of the Lord. his works are mighty and cannot be matched. No matter how hard the enemy may try, he cannot be God. Our one true God holds the power of life and death in his hands. When we declare his works, we speak faith into the atmosphere and things begin to change. The things that were are no more. That the kind of power my God has.

  37. “Everyone listened quietly as Barnabas and Paul told about the miraculous signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.”

    Why are we wanting to keep all that God has done for us a secret? The work of God should be realized and spread. God healed your pain? Go tell someone about it! God saved you from a battle you thought you couldn’t win? God tell someone about it! God blessed you.. go tell someone. I know many that before they knew God, they were lost in fear and pain, but someone came into their life and introduced them to God, and their life’s changed after that. I pray tonight that we go out and preach his word, tell your testimonies, let the lost know that God can save them and heal them right then and there! Praise God daily for all he’s done!

  38. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

    9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

    God knows all of our hearts and wants to make us more closer to Him. We serve a God who can do ANYTHING….the impossible, the hard, the easy, anything! I pray tonight that we all are believing in what He can and will do!!!!

  39. “For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;”

    For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost. They didn’t just consult themselves, they sought after God to give an answer. Wait on the Lord and He will guide us.

    “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  40. 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

    8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

  41. “so that the rest of humanity might seek the Lord, including the Gentiles— all those I have called to be mine. The Lord has spoken— he who made these things known so long ago.’”
    Acts of the Apostles 15:17-18 NLT

    God spoke and it happened. He said the rest of humanity will seek after Him and there are people of race and culture that seek the Lord. Great and Mighty is our God His promises come to pass. Trust in Lord for He is worthy He will not fail you He is for you.

  42. “But Paul disagreed strongly, since John Mark had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in their work. Their disagreement was so sharp that they separated. Barnabas took John Mark with him and sailed for Cyprus.”

    A disagreement should alternate the course of God’s will. We should be United have one common goal because together we are stronger. Let us be United to full fill God promises together.

  43. “It seemed to the Holy Spirit and to us that you should not be saddled with any crushing burden, but be responsible only for these bare necessities: Be careful not to get involved in activities connected with idols; avoid serving food offensive to Jewish Christians (blood, for instance); and guard the morality of sex and marriage. These guidelines are sufficient to keep relations congenial between us. And God be with you!”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭15:28-29‬ ‭MSG‬‬

    This Scripture means that, There are Certain Rules that Us Followers Of Christ should do that are Lead By The Holy Spirit In This Chapter.

    40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

    41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

    Men will be man. And flesh is still on us. This chapter at the end has always kind of shocked and confused me. Yet at the same time sheds light on the frail, humanity that we all deal with. There is lot perfect man save Jesus. In two instances we see conflict between the church. Conflict because of human disagreement. First those people trying to impose circumcision upon the gentiles. The dispute was great they they brought it to the elders and apostles of the church. Again we see disagreements with Paul and Barnabas. I could say, it didnt seem anything spiritual Paul’s decision to not take John. To me, it was just the preference of man. He judged. And deemed John not worthy to he brought on the trip. Yet, doesn’t God show us to forgive? Just thoughts that flood my mind. It says that the argument was so sharp that it broke a minsitry partnership. And perhaps a friendship relationship. Albeit, did they stop loving God? Did they turned away from the church and the word of God? No. We don’t hear much from Barnabas after that. Yet Paul goes on to write the letters to the churches. Despite this conflicting situation God in his wise love showed perhaps what Paul should have…mercy. And just allowed them to carry own serving in the Kingdom. We are told to love each other. There will be differences but Love one another is what the Lord expects from us.

  45. 35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
    36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
    37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
    38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
    39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
    40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

    It is important to know how to read the room. Especially if that includes friends or coworkers/co-volunteers. “. . . some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again . . .” Paul enjoyed the company of Barnabas enough to invite him to travel abroad with him again, however, Barnabas did not read his friend well enough to know that inviting another person that Paul was not comfortable would have him to miss out! “. . . the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: . . .” The Bible then goes on to tell the great works and stories of Paul, some including Silas. You don’t hear much more about Barnabas. But Barnabas made the mistake of not reading the situation better. Causing them to split up and go separate ways.

  46. I speak unity in the church where there has been division. I speak an understanding where there has been confusion. I speak compassion and love where there has been bitterness and a hardening of hearts.

  47. Growth is good. When there is growth not everyone is on the same page at the same time. Sometimes one group of people is more committed and more visually submitted than theirs. God sees our hearts though. Like the Bible said, God saw fit to give the Holy Ghost, how can we argue with what he chooses to do. We just have to encourage and build up those who are newer than us.

  48. “And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.”

    This scripture reflects great leadership. Paul wanted to follow up with the new believers. He wanted to see them face to face to see how they were progressing. If they needed additional teaching or encouragement he would be able to share that them and strengthen them. I have learned two leadership principles:
    1. Follow up with those new babes in Christ.
    2. Make face to face contact. 

    “Only [be sure to] lead your lives in a manner [that will be] worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I do come and see you or remain absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit [and one purpose], with one mind striving side by side [as if in combat] for the faith of the gospel.”

    “For I long to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift, to strengthen and establish you; that is, that we may be mutually encouraged and comforted by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.”
